okay is it just me or is he obsessed with themes of incest and interracial relationships? I thought he was totally weird. His presentation was hard to follow because he was always pausing. But good to choose if you want an easy A.

There are only 3 really long papers, but he tells you exactly what needs to be included. Minimal reading necessary, focuses entirely on black history. Do the papers, follow his outline, and you will do well in the class. Easily the most laidback professor, just do the damn papers.

most laidback professor i've had, almost never went to class and handed in two of the three papers for the semester on the last day and still got an A. just get the notes and copy them into the papers.

He's a nice professor that cares about his students who show effort in his class. He does give A LOT of work. By the end of the term, I wrote 40 pages worth of his papers. Show up to class and do as he says. His class is easy compared to other eng102 classes(believe me i've taken it twice!). He has a fascination with chinese films and lifestyle!

Thought he was a pretty cool teacher. Learned a lot about African American culture and the effects of racism. Come to class, do the work and you will get a good grade.

i kno hes a old fashion prof. who is somewhat boring..well go to his class w a cup of coffee why dont u!jus listen to wat he has to say..he is very detailed on discussin analysis..u jus hav to kno how to write a long paper ranging 6-8pgz worth..if u take notes nd ask him questions nd can make ur own opinion ur gud! ovrall 3 paperz whole semester

not a bad teacher. he speaks in almost inaudible decibels though so sit close to the front if you want to have a clue as to what hes saying lol. just do your work on time and you should have no problem getting a high grade in his class.

if you take reaaally good notes then that will basically write all of your papers for you. i understood every story we read because he explains everything so well. hes very big on note taking and if you actually do a good job youll have no problem writing an 8 page paper. i got an A on all 4 of my papers because i took notes during his lectures

this Professor is amazing, he has taught me to analyze papers in ways that i never would have thought of( or that any teacher bothered to o) he truly cares about the students well being and often gives you chances to re write. Deff recommend! good luck!

Easy class if you take detailed notes during his lectures. He can be a tough grader, but is fair. I would take his class again.

if you listen, you'll do well. he basically gives the answers, MUST take notes, you'll fail without them. he is fair, got an A in his class but many people got bad grades by not taking notes and not handing essays in on time. genuinely nice guy though

great professor! a lot of work but he explains everything in depth. If you don't like reading or writing dont take this class. I feel well prepared and did great in my eng 102 and literature course and I think it was do to Prof. Spencer

Prof. Spencer was very intimidating during his first class but as the semester went on unrealized that he isn't that bad. We had to read three Hirt stories, one book, and watch two films. Trust me you don't have to read any of the stories because he covers it all in the notes and you use the notes for the three essays that you have to write. I got a B+

You'll get to write a lot of essays that are each 10+ pages long. At first I was like I'm not going to do well in this class because it's a lot of writing but towards the middle it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Movies, reading and essays is what you'll have to do! I got an A! He is the best, great stories, great man.

If you take great notes, there is no reason not to get an A

This professor is very clear with what he requires. Take the notes and he will practically write the papers for you. Analyze and Participate in class. He's a really nice guy and very respectful

Prof. Spencer was a very good professor. Although he assigns about 4 very long papers, like 8-10+ pages. he gives good feedback and is always there. take good notes, and you will pass. and thats really it.

Amazing professor. Gives great lectures. Doesn't give out notes but if you come to class and take you're own notes you'll do well on the papers. Does give long papers but the papers are really easy to write if you takes notes. Show that you're trying hard and participate and you'll do well in his class.

I am beyond grateful for this man. I was having a hard time managing my classes and approached him about it. He worked with me and encouraged me to put in the work in his class. Take plenty of notes during his lectures and listen to what must be included in the essays and you WILL do well. Papers are long but if you listen they are easy.

This class was personally extremely intriguing. He requires you to watch great movies with impacting themes. He cares about the well being of his students as long as you show him respect. He will work with you to pass just listen closely to his requirements. He was awesome. I respect him a lot.

Professer Spencer... truly one of a kind. A very interesting man that deserves respect. Veteran, extremely worldy and an overall good person. Professor Spencer gives 3 papers (8-10 pages) and a simple final. Professor Spencer pushed me to the best i could be and was never hard on me becuase im not the best writer. Overall legendary man.

Prof. is a good professor, he is pretty clear of what he expects from you. His classes consist of reading passages and sharing your thoughts on them with the class. He does have hearing problems so you have to speak up a little bit. He also assigns a few research papers on some topics he discusses in class. He will help you with them if you ask.

This professor speaks very low so you should always try to sit close to him. Other than that he is AMAZING. Very understanding professor you just have to talk to him and let him know whats up.

The way he teaches us students how to interpret something so small into something even more greater is an excellent writing skill. I advise all students to take his English 101 course and above. GREAT teacher GREAT skills. Will be going for his 102 class

By far the best professor! He is very understanding to "people have lives", especially 8am classes. His papers are easy if you follow the guideline (which he gives out & goes over it piece by piece). He wants none of his students to fail, will allow you to re-write papers for a better grade. You do have to provide yourself with the books.

I have had an interesting and rewarding experience with Professor Spencer. This professor requires you to work above and beyond to create extended essays and gather ideas for them in class. He grades his essays fairly and will be able to tell who is responsible and hardworking. His class will allow you leave with new and enhanced varying skills.

He was great, having three 10 pg papers, 2 of which you can re write, and will work with you. Mainly, you have to follow what he says and his guidelines and get to know him, you can earn an A. Sometimes class is boring and can get unclear, but definitely a class to consider for those who like to write long pages.

He more than a professor was my mentor. As he said in one of his classes , his class is like a boot camp to learn how to write good paper college . He talks very low so get a seat up front because taking good notes is the key to passing his class. Hes very lenient about due dates and rewriting papers for a better grade. Professor Norman Spencer is a man. He is very fair with his grading and willing to help you to work things out. Do not cut classes because his lectures necessary in his essays. Your essays will be easy as long as you take notes. Clear grading criteria & flexible due dates, gives you insight, very straight forward, ye s the length of the paper is long at times but the notes he gives practically forge your essay along with your own input & interpretations. He's very culturally open and very respectful to all walks of life!!
