Comes off as a jerk! Will not move in reguards to the rules, but if you come to class, pay attention, and get involved, you will see a different side of him. Getting involved shows him you care, and ultimatly he wants you to learn. Best teacher @SWC

MR NAGAO IS A GREAT INSTRUCTOR AND IS STRICT BUT MOST OF THE KIDS AT SWC NEED THAT. I WOULD TAKE HIM AGAIN. I WAS WORRIED IN THE BEGINING BECAUSE I AM NOT AN A OR B STUDENT BUT I WALKED AWAY FROM HIM WITH AN A AND A BETTER VIEW OF HIM AND THE WORLD.

A bit intimidating at first. Spoke with him one on one and saw that the guy does really care about his students. Group Project was hella fun, if not exactly easy. Reports were a bit hard. If you are mature, dedicated student take the class.

No homework and don't need the book plus in class you don't need to take notes;make sure your in class on time/never absent.There's a midterm and final paper but you have the whole semester and you have a group presentation.MAKE SURE YOU DO WELL ON PAPERS

He is the best teacher at SWC.His teaching style is what you will expect at higher educational institutions.Your midterm and final are papers assigned at the beginning of the semester. He can read your drafts so you know what he wants.

He is a strict teacher in regards to attendence and tardiness. Easy A, two papers and one group assignment. No need to buy book.

Nagao is extremely intelligent and provocative. If you decide to take any of his clases keep in mind they are of the rigor of a four-year college. He offers a diversity management class and I would definetly encourage anyone to take it. It's awsome!

Mr. Nagao is very helpful out of class..very intresting, funny, and an excellent teacher..more teachers like him are needed at southwestern to better the students..

Great teacher, strict...old school where disapline and respect mean A LOT. Being asked and expected to act like an adult is too much for the spoiled kids to handle. Not quite as funny as he imagines himself to be, but loves an intelligent conversation.

Either you like the man or not. This class is very intresting and offers a clear understading of politics. Never have test just be there on time and get an A!

Heard from a former student of his that he was the easiest proff in his years at swc. but when i got into that class, it was a whole different story. first of all attendance matters. Also he goes off at you at the simplest things in the world. And for all who had him,notice how he sweats a grip.ewww

Graded on attendance, midterm, final, and group project. Must be in class, on time ALL the time. No homework, dont need the book; just the 2 research papers. Overall, he's the kind of teacher you want before going to a university

he is some what easy. if you go to him and ask for help on his 2 research papers it will help. participate in class. attendance is mandatory. no homework. funny if he likes the class. this the the only class that made me think being at swc for 3 years. kool guy!

this was the easiest class ever. just do the 2 reports, group project, and attend class everyday and you'll be fine. one of the easiest teachers if you respect him he will respect you. do not talk/sleep during attendance or lectures or he will kill you. overall awesome/easy teacher. dont buy book.

Just be on time and never be absent and you will be fine. The two research papers were not too bad and the group project was a lot of fun. No homeworks, no tests at all! Easy A. Mr. Nagao is a good teacher and very easy to talk to.

Great instructor. Probably one of the smartes teachers at SWC. If you want to learn not only about PS you are with the right professor.

The best professor besides Hayashi. I want to teach because of him. Strict, very smart, everything you want in a professor. Attend class and pay attention and you will do good in your papers.

Mr. Nagao is the best at what he does. i took him for my two political science classes and liked him a lot. He's kind of weid but you can see that he knows what hes talking about. If you dont understand something ask him and he'll explaind it to you. if i had to take PS i would take him again. juts be responsible and be on time if not u r done!

i think he is cool once you get to know him. he doesn't like students tardy or absent. he does not watch tv or read the paper. i think he wanted to be a politician and it didn't work out for him and now he hates life. he's okay after you get to know him. come to class you'll pass. don't be late.

He is the best political science professor I have ever taken, he is strict and hates tardiness, but once you get to know him he is GREAT!! this is by far the best class I have taken at SWC.

Mr. Nagao is a very good instructer. Very strict on attendance! But, overall very smart and he spazs out a little.

he was a pretty good teacher, theres only 3 graded assignments. He's one of those teachers who's bark is worse than his bite. He's a bit spazzy, but it's interesting.

Very interesting and informative instructor. People don't like him in general, because he does not spoon-feed the information to you. You have to work at it. He only gives 3 assignments, but expects a lot out of them. It was a very worth-while class and I would not take it with anyone else, if I had to start over.

Prof Nagao is a pretty good teacher. Doesn't ask for much just two papers and a group project. We never had homework or tests. Very blunt, but honest.

Mr.Nagao seems a little odd at first but down the stretch he becomes more understandable..he only assigns 3 assignments...i had him in an accelerated ps102 class.The assignments are 1 easy essay... 1 group project (which is big and must be done with a lot of effort.. posters, group home made movies, etc.last is a BIG research paper with Exact req..

Mr. Nagao comes off strong in the beginning but if you get on his good side his class won't seem boring. No tests but 2 papers and a group project. Extra credit is offered but you have to volunteer, but its worth it. Group project is fun. Attendance is important. I got a D on the first paper and ended with a B in his class

Mr. Nagao was a very good teacher. He demands the best from every student, and only has three assignments (2 papers and 1 group presentation). Show up for class, participate, and use a lot of citations and you should do well. He is a very good teacher but doesn't put up with poor work or attendance. He is def. worth taking for PS101!

I thought this was a pretty good class. He's very straightforward with his expectations and do not bother to bull---- him. He values face time and emails. Nobody got an 'A' that didn't deserve it by putting in all the extra work and even getting a 'B' meant putting in extra time. Take notes and show up to class.

i actually thought this teacher was overall good all you need to do is attend class and do your work and you will pass with a good grade. He has been one of my favorite teachers just dont be absent or late and you will be just fine.

All bark no bite! Never did I open up a text book. There are no tests, just a couple of papers. I got a C on the first paper, and walked out of the class with an A. :)

Best class ever. Students who are motivated and take intrinsic pleasure in this subject should take this class. According to some comments, you have to "act like an adult." Act like one, you're a college student. If you're looking for an easy A, then don't take this class and change your major. You shouldn't be a PS major if you can't handle Nagao.

Before posting, I read a lot of reviews talking about his unorthodox methods and attendance policy. Nagao does sometimes drift from the topic, but overall he is a very good teacher-he usually can tie the subject in with current events, but there's not a lotta give/take. He does forgive attendance if you have proof it wasn't just skipping class.

This Class is really simple and interesting. There is no homework and the only things he does require is attendance, 2 research papers, and a group project. Just donate a little bit of time to these three things and participate in class and you'll do good!

I truly enjoyed this class. He kept his personal politics out of the classroom as he should. Taught both sides of the spectrum. Group project does take real effort.

Attendance = Mandatory. If you want an A you'll need to do the individual project and the only extra cred. is the community service. PARTICIPATE or email him, i.e., make yourself known. Part of your grade is HIS interpretation of you. W/o the Indiv. proj., the highest grade you can earn is a B. THIS CLASS IS NOT FOR LAZY PEOPLE.

Mr.Nagao was a cool teacher. he was pretty funny, But you have to pay attention and just be respectful towards him, and he will like you. My class never caused any problems there fore he liked out class. I do recommend the only things that were hard was the individual project and group project, which are the main 2 grades for this class.

If you want an A you wont get it unless you do an an extra project which is a report and he has to approve of the topic. its not easy. MANDATORY attendance, he will drop you or drop your grade if you even miss two days. course is not hard but his exoectations for student conduct is ridiculous!.

Great class! if you arrive late 5 seconds is late! you have to arrive on time! numer 1 rule! he is a funny guy like the classic asian funny guy in movies! haaha interesting stories good and bad jokes but makes the class easy! exams are a piece of cake! if you want an A do the project

He is SUPER strict when it comes to attendance and will not hesitate to drop you if you miss class four times or have four tardies. But other than that the material is super easy, the quizzes only have 10 questions, and he covers most of them in class right before the quiz. Chances are you'll pass his class unless you like to miss class.

Mr.Nagao is one of the best professors I ever had. He always tells you in advance what is going to be review at class and about projects that you will be expected to start right on the date he gives you so you don't stock behind other stuff you need to do for the class. You will have to take a weekly quiz. He's very responsible and helpful.Take him

It's a straight forward class: never be tardy, read and take notes from the book, do your online homework quizzes, and you shouldn't have a problem getting an A. Even if you do not perform well, your online homework quizzes will still save you. The essay due at the end of the term is difficult so try to start working on it once you understand.

Consists of online hw&weekly quizes which even out in grade (so do the hw!), final&midterm which are all the quizes put together, &a research paper that he takes very seriously. Overall he's a good & helpful teacher if you ask questions, but he gets very irritated when the class isn't completely silent. Hit 6 absences and you FAIL automatically!

He is very very strict about attendance! It doesn't matter what the situation is, he is going to lecture you on being on time. On a bright side, his class for me was pretty easy, all you have to do is follow what he requires and you'll be fine.

People complain about attendance or that he called them out and that's a lie. His classes are quick and interesting and I was able to pass without the book(higheredDOTmheducationDOTcom). He answers all your questions and let's you know about his quizzes content and reviews right before each one. Very good teacher.

Lectures are very clear, and the guy is pretty amusing most of the time. The weekly quizzes are somewhat difficult though, over half the class dropped this class throughout the semester. I highly recommend going to him during office hours and asking about the questions you missed: all of the midterm and final questions are reuses of quiz questions

I loved taking his class! I took him twice and passed the second time. You'll only pass if you do the home work and do well on each quiz every week. It's a lot of reading but it's not hard at all. He's extremely big on attendance and will call you out if you don't pay attention. Gives choice on either doing a research or final exam. Great explainer

I personally looked forward to his class. Mr. Nagao was funny and made soc really interesting and easy to understand. Just read each chapter before the tests and stay on his good side! Don't be late, don't look at your phone, and don't give him attitude! Also, don't expect homework or extra credit! We're not in elementary school anymore.

Most of what I read about this class was untrue. The facts are if you do your homework, attend the lectures and asks questions when you don't understand things you will excel. If you don't you will fail. This professor is awesome with old school values which means he doesn't tolerate foolishness.

The majority of these comments were crap. Truth is, if you put enough effort into this class you'l be fine. He's extremely strict so dont even bother showing up if you're going to be late often. You HAVE to read the chapters. Im a B student. Ended up with a high B because I did poorly on the midterm. 2 assignments. Do them. They help somewhat.

if you follow the rules this will be a great professor but if you dont then all hell will hit you like a truck

He's very strict in attendance and he won't let you use your phone or talk to classmates. However, he knows about his subject, and he helps you with your doubts. Attent class, read the chapters and don't use your phone or talk in class, and you will pass. Just do your responsabilities.

the homework was online and are pretty easy if you ask for help you need to know his appointment times, nice teacher by the way!!
