I had her for lab. She has a very strong accent which makes her seem rough at times but she really has her students best interest at heart. The key is to ask lots of questions, I got an A on every lab because of this and she really loves to help. Do NOT violate the dresscode though, she'll get on to you for that. Overall, a very helpful teacher.

She is hard to understand due to her thick accent. If you make A's on the quizes she is really harsh on your grades. She didnt seem to understand that everyone makes mistakes and making one simple sig fig mistake the entire semester, she ridculed me for it. If you do take her, don't forget sig figs and units of measure
She is a sweet lady and always willing to help you in lab. no question was ever too dumb! she is very strict when it comes to sig figs and dress code! She knows what she is talking about, you will learn a lot from her! Take her! Her accent is thick, but very understandable! :)

This was a lab class that was interesting and Ms. Msimanga was very funny. She tells jokes and has a great sense of humor.
She is super helpful, makes jokes and always goes around and makes sure your work is correct before you turn it in. She is a bit of a stickler for SigFigs and whatnot, but over all super helpful and wants you to get an A
She is extremely strict but she is pretty lenient with gradient as long as you do everything right. Don't misbehave in class otherwise you'll be sent out. She's pretty boring too - goes over the same point multiple times but it's useful for those who are unsure about chemistry.
When you ask her a question, she can sometimes be wrong and change her mind later and then you're wrong, but if you remind her of what she told you, she'll understand.She wants you to pass, and the class is easy. I didn't write in my notebook for the first class because I had no idea and she let me stay in class anyway.
She is VERY helpful. Will practically give you the answers, even though she seems like she's getting frustrated with you while she's doing it. But she just wants you to understand and pass! Try not to take it personally. She even gave me a hug when I finished my final. She's pretty funny too. Get your sig figs right!
This was a Hybrid Class. And I loved it . She helps you out but you get embarrassed because shes loud when she does it. So everyone knows you messed up. But tha class is pretty easy
She is a bit hard to understand at first because of her accent, but you get used to it as the year goes on. She'll help you if you have questions. MAKE SURE YOU KNOW SIG FIGS. She's obsessed with them and will call you out if you have them wrong. Not easy. You have to try hard, but you learn a lot. I definitely recommend her.
She is very nice, but old school. Make sure you follow the rules. Pretty easy class. She cares a lot about her students and really wants them all to succeed.

Very good professor, but strict and sometimes confusing. She also has a very strong accent. I made high A's on every lab then made a 50 on the final and ended up with a B in the class. If you take her, study for the final!
She is super confusing. Her accent is almost impossible to decipher and having a TA is the only way you're going to understand anything. She is funny though and has a positive attitude, but if you aren't an independent learner and require a lot of teacher assistance I would look elsewhere because her communication skills are horrible.
She's pretty aggressive; she lightens up a bit the last week of class. She's not easy to understand and she grades your lab assignments very harshly. If chemistry isn't your thing, do not take this class with her.
Dr. Msimanga is a very sweet, kind hearted woman. She wants the best for her students. Although she is extremely hard to understand, the TA is helpful. I made all 100s and two 98s on the labs and made a 60 on the final and ended up with a 92. The final is hard bc it is a department wide exam- it is hard to study for, but that's true for all labs.
She is VERY hard to understand at first, but you get used to her thick accent by the end of the semester. She focuses A LOT on sig figs, so get those always right. She writes the steps of the lab on the board, so the lab is easy to follow. She wants everyone to succeed so she is very helpful. I would take her again now that I can understand her
Don't let her long name scare you. She may be hard to understand at first, but she means well. The labs are easy, but make sure to do the work outside of class- like filling out your composition notebook. She grades hard, so make sure to write out all equations and label with units.
I didn't even really do the comp notebook and she gave me a 100% on the grade for it. Attendance does matter since you only meet up 5 times. The hardest part is the online assessments and you have three hours to complete those and Google at your fingertips. Not a hard class even without effort.
if you ask her a question she will probably give you a little attitude but at the end of the day she is very helpful. she is clear that she wants her students to pass and does everything to make sure that happens. she will check your whole lab and math when it is written in the composition notebook to ensure you get an A on the final copy. easy A
Her South African accent is not hard to understand. Although she's very strict with lab policy, SIG FIGS, formulas, and units she's very helpful and loves her students! She walks around to check your notebook and works with you to make sure you're correct. Her Pre labs are long but very helpful. Great lab professor for nursing! Easy easy easy
She really wants you to succeed. She knows things like sig figs can be a little tricky at first so she is more than willing to help you out if you ask. If you don't ask she's going to assume you have it all down. She's tough on grading but it's not hard to make a good grade. Great for nursing majors to take for their first lab!
She's a sweet old lady, but her grading is harder than the pope at choir practice. Just follow the rules to the letter and there's no reason not to come out of her class with anything less than an a. Great introduction to the lab environment.
Dr. Msimanga's class was not that hard she just expects you to know what you are doing. I would not recommend taking if you don't have tough skin. She can and will snap on you if don't look like you know the information or what you are suppose to be doing
I absolutely do not recommend. Although I got an A, she's probably the strictest person I've ever met and will gladly stop class to yell at you about tiny things. She checks your work before you turn it in which is good, but she grades extremely harshly and contradicts a lot of things our lecture professor says. Take another lab teacher.
By her name, you would think that she would be very hard to understand. Uou would be correct, but you get used to it. The first week she is going to terrify you, but she only is setting a boundary. She thoroughly explains every lab before you start, and the online quizzes aren't bad. She can be tough, but she is so sweet and makes it all worth it!
Although this woman is intimidating as anything and seems pretty scary, she is actually a very good teacher and you can tell she cares about her students and wants them to do well and understand chemistry. The lab notebooks are tedious, I'll admit and she is kind of a tough grader. She is a lot less terrifying if you approach her and ask questions.
This class is an easy A, but is unnecessarily strict. She is very blunt, and follows lab dress code to an extreme. I understand that its there for safety, but I mean come on. Our first lab, we measured boxes and weighed items. But if we weren't wearing long enough socks to cover the ankles, we wouldn't be able to participate.
Dr. Msimanga cares about her students and their grades, but she has a odd way of showing it. She is very strict about the lab dress code and the notebook (but more the dress code than anything because she will kick you out of the lab if you are out of dress code). Easy class, though.
Prof. Msimanga is a true gem. I know a lot of people are giving her bad reviews, but they must not give her a chance because she was always helpful and sometimes funny. The only thing she is strict about is dress code but it is expected. She wants everyone to pass so put the effort in, and you will be just fine. Also, talk to her so she knows you.
Loved her! She is strict on dress code, will call you out if you're late, and she's very particular about lab notebooks but she's a great teacher, cares about how well you do, and she's hilarious! She doesn't mind answering endless amounts of questions because she wants you to do well, I would take her again any day!
She truly cares about her students and will help you as much as possible, she will tell you what is wrong so you can fix things before turning stuff in so there is no reason to do badly, though she may call you out about it.

She will chew you out over your clothes even if they follow rules. her lectures would confuse me on subjects I previously understood because of my 1151 teacher. She talks to everyone like they're trying to get away with something and makes everyone uneasy.
Loved her so much! She is definitely strict on dress code but that is because she has to be! You do have to work for an A because the final is a department issued final that most fail. She is also a pretty tough grader. But if most of us are nursing students then we better get used to tough grading now. Sweet lady and I will miss her!
I respect this teacher's passion for teaching. She could be very sweet and caring. However, she sometimes talks to students like children and can be forgetful. Also, the dress code is strict... I highly recommend turtle neck sweaters.
She makes it clear that she's not going to be very helpful. She's kind of rude at times as well. Not always clear with the way she wants the lab reports to be graded and did absolutely nothing to help prepare for the final.
She is helpful if you talk to her 1 on 1. Very precise. Make sure you have your labs done before coming to class! Mean on the outside, very sweet lady when you get to know her.
I took Mrs.M for chem 1151L , she is verrryyy strict on dress code so dont come with your ankles showing ! Shes pretty funny at times but is very serious about her work. She makes sure you understand everything. Shes kinda intimidating but dont be scared to ask for help. You can definitely get an A if you put the work in.
She is extremely tough. Follow every instruction she gives or it wont be pretty. Participation is mandatory. Content Assessment and pre lab quizzes are an important part of class even if it seems minuscule. Have your lab book ready for each class. You have to go above and beyond for an A
I loveee her!!! Yes shes strict but if youre african or anything of the sort youll love her! Shes tough but she cares about her students. She teaches you how to do the whole lab before you actually do it.
I'll be honest, she is a very intimidating person. She is super specific about you lab attire, wear scrub pants, socks that go past you ankles, and a regular t shirt NO V NECKS. Have you lab notebook ready for each lab. She demonstrates the entire lab for the whole class and they are all easy. She really wants her student todo well, so shes strict
She's very intimidating in the beginning of the course, but it's because she cares about her students so much. She is very picky about how to do the work. She does the whole lab at the beginning of each class. Pre-lab quizzes and content assessments were super important. The assessment were kind of difficult, but you have 3 hours to complete them.
She is one of the best professors I've had my freshman year, as long as you listen and wear the right attire for labs she's extremely helpful and is always willing to help you get an A! I love her, she can come off rude at first but she's really such a beautiful person and she grades quickly. Know your sig figs !!

As long as you do what you're supposed to and follow the lab rules (dress code, prepared notebook, etc.) you'll do fine. Has a bit of an accent but after the first week I could understand her. She has no patience for people not being prepared because she will tell you exactly what to do, so just do what she says lol.

Probably could not have picked a worse professor for this class. With the understanding that she is well-educated and is knowledgeable on the material, I still believe she is an awful professor. Doesnt reply to emails, doesnt answer questions, cannot understand through accent, no curve, and ridiculous grading policies. Save yourself the trouble
I have no idea where these good reviews are coming from. Do not take this professor. She is awful at explaining things, NEVER replies to emails, her accent is very difficult to understand, and she will shut her students down when they ask questions. Worst decision I've ever made was listening to the positive reviews. Do NOT take.
Honest to god couldn't have chosen a worse professor. Her accent is extremely hard to understand. She interrupts you in the middle of questions. Then goes on to ramble about stuff that has nothing to do with your question. She doesn't respond to emails. I DEEPLY regret taking this course with her. PLEASE save yourself the trouble!!

I really never got over her accent. But I think her intentions were good. She was very understanding when I was freaking out about my grades and helped me. She wants you to do well and pass with an A. I find it easier to ask questions outside of her lecture, like emailing her. Chem lab is hard especially online, but I think she is a good professor.
I was honestly very confused during every single one of her labs. When taking this course, you might have to rely on YouTube and other sites to help you understand. When students ask questions, she kind of makes me more confused. Also if you expect to see her do the labs, take another class.
She had good ratings but when it came time for labs I think she wasted a lot of time. Was VERY difficult to understand her (especially over collaborate ultra). She didn't understand simple questions and would try to reexplain the whole lab. Good news is labflow repeats questions from quizzes on the final. Must join class sessions for participation!
I took this class online through lab flow. She tried her best to help and explain things but ended up confusing me. The instructions for the labs aren't that challenging as long as you read the pre lab. She is hard to understand because of her accent, but she is usually a fair grader. Lab flow quizzes and tests are easy, if you pay attention.
Professor Msimangas lab was really tough compared to the regular course. I cried during a lot of labs online because I honestly didnt know what was going on. Shes sweet, means well, and has a very direct criteria for grading, but its really hard to understand her. Shes terrible with questions and tries to explain something completely different
Dr. Msimanga was a terrible professor. She seemed to not know how to use her camera (it was an online lab) and would not move it so we could see even when asked by multiple students. She was extremely confusing and would not answer direct questions. A group of us worked together to pass the class.
You have to teach yourself completely. She does not teach and doesn't answer questions well. she just talks and talks and talks while she does her own thing that barely correlates with the steps of the lab we are supposed to be doing. You must attend class even though it's not going to be worth it 99% of the time. Cant teach but literally blames us

Do not take this class with this professor! It is constantly incredibly hard to understand what she is talking about. When asking a question she completely ignores it and points out other mistakes and makes you feel degraded. When giving feedback on lab submission she is never clear on mistakes. 0/10 would not recommend.

If you are looking for a professor to give you the answer this is NOT your class. Your grade is made up of pre-lab quizzes, practice content assessments, content assessments, lab reports, lab notebook, and the final exam. The content assessments are online however the final is in the classroom. You can do well in her class, just work hard.
Do NOT take this class from this professor. She is not a good teacher. At the beginning of the semester she said that she's here to help us pass but then would yell at us for asking questions. If there were ever problems on lab flow she said that she couldn't help us. She also takes days to respond to emails. She yells a lot in class so good luck

I only passed because of the TA. He was very helpful. She keeps giving me an 89.75 on my lab reports. You can definitely pass this class, but take someone else if you can
She was probably one of the worst professors/ teachers i have ever had. When you are confused about something she is very discouraging. Instead of helping you, she will point out everything you did wrong while getting mad at you. She is also very hard to understand and is a really tough grader.
I would not recommend this class. She says she wants everyone to pass but she's kind of condescending when you ask her questions. She finds little things to nitpick with your labs, everything has to be perfect. She will sometimes reopen lab flow assignments however she is hard to get in touch with.
Many people will tell you not to take her. Well actually she was the best. She is very strict about lab rules and having your notebook done correctly and on time. Do not ever try to show up late. 6 online labs, 6 in person labs with lab quizzes online every week. Follow the dress code & be on time for class and have your lab written completely or she will kick you out of the class and if you aren't there for the in person labs you get an automatic zero for that lab. She wants you to succeed so dont be afraid to ask questions. Good teacher!
You definitely have to work for your grade but if you participate and act like you care about your grade she'll help you in any way she can. Also was very flexible if you forget to upload a lab or something. (i selected online but the class was hybrid so attendance sort of mattered.)
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. She wants you to pass and will help you do so if you put in the effort, HOWEVER she will verbally embarrass you in front of the whole class while doing so. Not a nice person, but if you are willing to put up with her, this class isn't to bad. Also, follow the dress code to a tee if you are taking her.

I would not take her again because she can have a horrible attitude and says that she cares for her students, yet shows it with VERY tough love. I had this class half online half in person, which made attendance very important.
This professor was extremely rude and unhelpful during lab. I didn't even want to ask her for help because she wouldn't... help. It's not a difficult lab, but if you are not comfortable with a professor yelling at you for something as simple as missing sig figs, take literally anyone else.
Honestly not a bad teacher. The class was half in person and half online. If you just have your notebook ready, show up to class on time, and adhere to the dress code you will be fine. Ask her to check your calculations when you're doing the labs and this class will be easy to pass. Don't be scared to ask her questions.
