A great teacher, her knowledge is impressive. Her lectures can grow dry as she has a monotone style. Her labs and lessons can go long but her intentions are there. Take her if you love Chem and try more often than not. She is not an easy A
took her for chem1 started wit a b slacked off n got a c. Im not gonna see she's easy because she's not. Im gonna say she's hard because she is. very hard, monotone...sometimes her voice makes me pass out BUT her intentions are clear she wants the best for her students.
Great teacher! Gives lots of X-tra credit assignments. Her lecture notes are really good. Studied hard and made an A.
She is wonderful. She is very well informed and she teaches very clearly and is always avialable for asking questions. It's a very friendly class. Wish that I had her in my org I class.
Take this class if you want to be bored to death. She is very monotonous and does not motivate for learning.
Very unique, patient instructor, with great motivation. She helps us out with so many worksheets to practice. Always has a smile on her face. Wonderful!!!
I wouldn't recommend her to any student. She made me feel stupid with her fast way of goigng over subjects and confusing us with so much writting on the board. It was hard to figure out what she tries to teach. She also gives too many problems for homework practice, so we have to teach ourselves all the time.
For me Chem is hard. She does too many examples on board, which were helpful when i studied for the exam. her worksheets were hard but she was always available to help. She teaches very extensively which seems too much and too long sometimes, but is helpful.
You really need to take good notes and practice problems to pass the class. Cannot pass without studying. Overall she is a good teacher.
You have to study very very hard to pass her class. If you don't take good notes, you will NOT pass this class. You have to be in class everyday...do not miss one class! She will meet after class to expalin things, if you have a 89.0, she gives you a B, ...overrall she is OK. You have to study hard!!
I just find that stadying hard is not a key. Study from her the book. She strictly follows book and doesn't give many different problems. Overall I find this class not very interesting and uninspiring.
Continued?taught were different in the textbook, some equations given provided incorrect answers where as the book?s equations provided the correct answer. Tests were worded differently than taught, making tests harder than they should have been. I got a B in the class, but only because I constantly checked in with her. Would not recommend her ever
She is tough but EXPLAINS VERY CLEARLY. I hated chem from highschool, now i LOVE CHEM becouse of her. I had an A. Am taking her again on my next chem 1412
I was very unsatisfied with this teacher. She was very unorganized; even grading one test with the wrong answer key and wouldn?t have known unless the students brought it to her attention and they had to be adamant for her to even look into it. She constantly loses stuff and marks grades in other people?s slots in the grade book. Many things she...
pls don't take her. I took her for Introduction to chemistry and so happy i am done with the class. She don't go with the test book, text is hard, and different from what she teach in class. I made a B but with EVERYDAY study and tutorial classes. the class was full at the beginning but almost empty at the end!

I took her class about last spring, honestly she was probably one of the better professors I've had thus far. She was clear, helped students that were in need. The only complaint I have is that some of the test question I wouldn't of been able to understand even if it was open book.
Did the half online half lab class, started with 30 ended with 7 ppl. Test questions do not reflect what is covered online. You basically have to look at the powerpoint slides like you know the material and read the book front to back. Only way to pass is to have a tutor on call which defeats the whole online purpose. Do NOT TAKE ONLINE!!
BAD in so many ways! Helpful during class, but not willing to help after class, even when she ends early. Takes forever to grade tests, so u can't drop, bc u don't really know where u stand. Throws out extra credit like confetti, but that's bc you need it bc she's so hard. Frequent errors during lectures & on tests. Doesn't give notes, or use slide
Am taking the class online, this professor does not help at all. She has different exam dated on the assessment tab and syllabus. I missed the first exam as a result, and she will not give makeup exams even if it is her fault. Tried to talk to her into synchronizing the dates, very arrogant, won't do it.
It was a hard class for me. But, Prof. Garg explains material very clearly. Worked hard and made a B in class.
I am in her online Chem class. Whenever I have asked for help, she has given me time and explained all the questions I missed on the quizzes. i go to the department tutoring also. So far I am doing fine. I do not have problems with exams and quizzes, the due dates and requirements are easy to follow, they are posted on the homepage. I do not h
She is wonderful! Extremely clear teaching method. She sticks to the syllabus and is very organized. She drops the lowest test grade and doing HW helps your grade. I don't necessarily enjoy chemistry but I appreciated her as a professor. She cares about your learning and will definitely help. You definitely have to study to do well. Made an A.
She's well intentioned and clear in her teaching, it's just that the tests are harder than the practice she lists. She answers questions in class and offers extra credit on tests except the final. Study, go to class, and dont miss labs.
She's very clear when she teachers, but I would not recommend her at all if you'r looking for an easy class. This class is not at all easy and you have to work very hard to get an A. The tests are much harder than the stuff you do in class. Drops the lowest test but that still doesn't help because her tests always have short answer.
Very clear and helpful professor. Her class is not easy but she teaches well. Do not miss any lecture. HW and extra credit helped a lot. Had to study hard to make an A.
Chemistry itself is hard. The grade you want reflects on your study habit.
Nice enough teacher, who really does want her students to appreciate and learn chemistry. Gives extra credit and drops lowest test grade. Don't miss class, do the hw, complete the extra credit, do the labs and there's no way you can get lower than a B! I did everything and made a pretty easy A during the summer session :)
She is amazing,I love her and she made me even more interested in Chemistry.
Looking for an easy class? This is not it, if you miss one day of lecture, it'll be hard to understand it on your own. I definitely recommed this teacher, she doesn't want you to fail and is always asking students if they need help, but your grade reflects on your work habit. Just show up to class, do the extra credit for tests, and take good notes
I do not understand how come she even came to be an prof. at HCC. I'm shocked. I know chemistry is not hard but this prof. is confuse as her tests.
Great prof! Definitely knows what she is talking about, but you cannot sleep in class. Test reviews have all the info you need on the test. Do the practice tests the night before and you'll do fine. She gives you alot of practice problems, and she is eager to help with anything she can. Work hard, study hard, and you'll get the grade you deserve.
So glad I had her as a professor! I'm a dual credit student and was very wary of taking a chemistry 1 class at the age of 16, but the professor ended up helping me SO much! She's very kind and understanding. Her class is impossible to fail if you put in an adequate amount of effort. I definitely recommend her!
She's definitely not an easy A teacher, but ochem is not an easy A type of subject. she does a lot of examples on the board, which are so helpful. I also read before each lecture, which made the lecture seem easier to understand. She's a very helpful teacher, I got an A in her class. You just have to do your part, which is study!
nice teacher, she knows how to Nice teacher makes everything clear. Additionally you get extra points for each test by just doing a couple of exercise. she also gives review test for each test, and she drops the lowest grade. Really easy class you don’t need to study a lot to get an A. (Strongly recommended)
Defiantly not an easy class. She is a real stickler for rules so if you're looking for someone a bit lenient its not her. I recommend coffee for her class she lectures nonstop for 3hrs. She gives 2extra questions on the test for a bonus, it helps. Make the text book your BFFL. Do all the practice problems multiple times!
I hated chemistry before I take her now I love it. she makes everything so easy and clear. you have to study in her class but test is mostly from HW and review samples so if you do them you'll get an A. she is the best I love her so much
Dr. Garg is a great professor, truly cares about chemistry and her students. She always keeps you in check and reinforces you must stay up to date on understanding the lectures and doing homework. Very helpful after class if you have any questions. This class you cannot goof around, take good notes, do homework, do the sample test, you'll get an A!
A wonderful professor. She cares about students and does not stop unless everyone gets the material. Gives extra credit so makes everything even easier. She is very nice and respectful she answers to your question and helps you a lot.
Took her summer 1 hybrid class this summer. I hated chemistry but she made it tolerable because she throughly explains things. Lectures were really long but she cares about the subject she's teaching. Loved her
The labs are clear and from the lab book. The lectures are well explained with multiple examples to understand the learning objective. Reviews and Practice tests are available for all exams and final. This is a valuable resource and is recommended. Extra credit on every exam and final in terms of short answer questions. She is there for extra help.
Chemistry's not an easy subject, but Prof Garg made it accessible. Labs are easy if you follow the instructions and she gives chapter review questions for extra credit. Her explanations are sometimes a bit vague but she's happy to go over until everyone has the concept, and she has generous tutorial times. Do the work, take notes, you'll pass.
Do not take her class. you wont pass the class.
Skip class, you wont pass . you will mess with your GPA
If you are planning to take Organic Chem with Dr. Garg, you should know that reading the chapter beforehand is a must. Her lectures are clear and precise, but you will be confused if you are not prepared. Do the homework assignments and then check with the solution manual, do the pretests, and take good notes, and you will make a good grade.
this the worst professor. Does not care about anyone but her self will not respond. will not take care again will not recommend her
DO NOT TAKE HER, RUNNNN!!!! SHE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT HER STUDENTS. SHE EXPECTS YOU TO KNOW THE MATERIAL REGARDLESS OF WHEN YOU LAST TOOK CHEMISTRY. HER LABS ARE ALL DAY AND DOES NOT HELP YOU. VERY CONDESCENDING, TEST ARE RIDICULOUSLY HAVE AND YOUR STUDY GUIDE IS YOUR NOTES, SHE KNOWS THE MATERIAL AND ORGANIZED, BUT HORRIBLE AT RESPECTFULLY TEACHING.
If you want t learn chemistry, take her. Prof. Garg is a great instructor. Very organized and very helpful.
You're going to need the book to read & jot down notes from each chapter. Quiz/Exam are from any given spot in the book ( diagrams ,etc)Discussion online is a must. Quiz : 15 questions Exams: 20-30 questions Final Exam: 50 questions. Do the example homework to prepare yourself. Have a calculator and Periodic Table on deck, you'll need it.
This is the worst teacher I have ever taken. she doesn't explain notes, she is a very though grader , expects you to know the knowledge before class. though I made an A, but it was with the help of the tutorial lab. she doesn't give any extra credits. will never make the mistake of taking her again. please if you know you are not good in chem, dont
She's ok, her lectures are good understandable but her test are super hard you have to think alot on her test. And she uses the textbook alot. Overall i mean if your into chemistry you can take her. basically you have to work hard in her class. but she is very helpful she helps you with concepts you dont understand. and she give extra credit also.
Professor Garg is simple and straight-forward. Simply focus while in class and study each night to do well on her tests. She does give extra credit but dont rely too much on that
Good online professor if you need quick feedback. I didn't use a textbook, I just found problems online that were similar. The lectures are basically reading the slides so a bit boring. She does have good examples to go by. I was very happy to have time to study on my own without using some online study guide like Pearson.
Professor Garg is the best professor you can find for chemistry. Don't let the rating fool you cause I'm telling you she is the best. You will learn a lot from her and tests are very similar to her lecture. She explains very well. Lots of extra credit. Although my class was a hybrid class, she went over everything in class. Love professor Garg.
Gave us everything we needed to pass the class and clearly understood the material. She always answered our questions and stayed after even if you needed. It is still a very difficult class but we knew what we had to study which saves so much time compared to not knowing what will be on the tests.
I took chem 1305 online and it was a breeze. She makes everything clear. She sends updates weekly. 3 test plus final exam. Chapter quizzes are due weekly and she drops your lowest quiz grade.
I was scared to take Organic Chem, so I studied a lot for this class, and it really paid off! Prof Garg explains concepts well and I used lectures to confirm what I read before class. She does tell you to read to do well and she is totally right. Good lectures , but if you want to do well in organic *YOU MUST READ* Those who didn't really struggled
Its organic and expected to be hard but Professor G. Makes it as easy as ABC. Its a work heavy class but all worth it in the long run. Shes passionate about chemistry and about your learning. There are bonus opportunities as well so take advantage of all of them. Would definitely take again.
she's a fine teacher prepares you well for a 4 year school. Her exams are average difficulty though you have to put in the effort to get the 'A'. plenty of extra credit which is both a bad and a good thing. If you perform higher than other students in the class she caps your exam grades and cancels your extra credit. She's a solid choice take her.
She doesn't engage with her students. You are only graded by a few items, so if you do bad on 1 test, it will mess you up for the whole semester
She is the worst teacher ever do not make any mistakes like I did, dont let this good rate missing you she is so bad at everything hope Hcc fired her. Tests very heavy and difficult her grading so tough. If you fail one test you will Missid up all the semester
Her class is easy in the beginning then goes completely downhill. She gives reviews for exams but they are nothing like the actual test. You have to read before the actual lecture or you'll be lost. You won't know your grade in the class until it's over. And don't even bother asking her to review the exams.
Took for Online anytime. Chapter HW due weekly. Weekly updates/announcements about upcoming due dates. 3 Exams, 1 Final/departmental. Self teaching/studying. All exams require webcams (not the weekly HW). Easy class! No make up if you miss an assignment/ test unless you provide a receipt excuse (your computer malfunctioned is not good excuse)
I took her online course. This professor doesnt interact with you at all. All she does is give reminders to take the tests and hw. You have to self read and then do the homework and the test. I barely passed her class mostly because of google. Dont take her class if you actually need to learn the material.
Only prof I had that made hand-out notes for you take in class that also counted as bonus points for the exams! Gives you exam reviews and online quizzes are just homeworks as it is open note, unlimited time, and no Lockdown browser. Some exam questions were straight up from the quizzes
Extra credits during the lectures and you do not have to write lab reports (only do the lab questions and data sheet). Its OCHEM, so just review each synthesis, mechanism, and basic info about the functional group and you will realize how easy her exams are.
The people struggling in my class were the ones that did not understand that OCHEM is a class you MUST study/memorize for. Those who don't, FAIL! Her lecture notes are used for bonus points and the notes are like a cheat sheet for the chapter. At this point, each chapter is just a functional group's properties, how to prepare them, and synthesizes.
Review your OCHEM1 stuff as it will help with certain chapters. Exam reviews and online quizzes that are similar to the exams. If you study little by little each night, her exams will only take like 30 minutes
Lecture notes that count as bonuses, online quizzes with no LDB and can start/stop them at anytime, no lab report writing but you do have prelab/postlab questions and the data sheet to do. If a synthesis or mechanism isn't in her lectures, then you can just ignore it. Make sure you know the properties of each functional group from the textbook.
If you understand the basics of chem/ochem like lewis acids (electrophiles) accept electrons and lewis bases (nucleophiles) donate electrons, Nucleophile attacks Electrophile, etc, then her class will be VERY easy. Brush up on this stuff before your class starts and you will be good.
1st 2 chapters are about identification which will be confusing at first but will get very easy with practice. After that, the other chapters are about various functional groups, their properties, synthesis, and mechanisms. It is a lot to memorize, but her lectures summarize them, so just do practice each night. OCHEM is hard if you don't practice.
I think Dr. G is really nice, however I have to admit that during lectures she goes to fast, if on the test u miss one little detail she's not gonna give u partial credit, and her reviews are not really helpful cause she doesn't go in detail how to solved each question
Don't do it to yourself. Don't take her. I don't care what her other reviews are saying. I thought she was pretty nice but her exams aren't nice. Her reviews look like her exams but completely different things. For your mental health sake and your GPA, DONT TAKE HER. Her class and way of teaching completely ruined my self-confidence.
Not an easy professor. I was told her exams are easy to study for but I was wrong. If you have the choice, pick another professor.
she is a nice person BUT Her exams are insane. exams wroth 50%, final 20%, lab 20%, and quizzes 10%. you don't have assignments or partial credit or anything else to save you GPA!!!!!! even the labs hw are quizzes. it just so hard to get A or B IN HER CLASS.
If you care about your grade, be hesitate with this professor. Her exams are pretty difficult regardless of how well you study. She does give you reviews and her reviews might look similar but the content is completely different. If you take her, be ready to sacrifice your mental health.
The professor is nice and answers emails. However, her exams are pretty tough and you have to study night and day for them. Be ready to dedicate your entire life to this class. Youtube def helps more than she does.
Her exams were 50% of your final grade, and honestly I regret taking her every single day.
She was never available to answer questions, left messages sent to her unanswered, and I never even heard her voice. Only posted hard HWs and tests non-stop from a textbook that no HCC tutor was familiar with. I was basically left on my own with no form of help or assistance. It was hard. If someone had warned me, I won't have taken her. Beware.
The professor teaches by going through a PowerPoint presentation containing a little info & many practice problems from the chapters. She does great at explaining the examples, answering questions, & recommending strategies for learning the material.
Class was so easy, if you go to any normal 4 year university this is a cake walk compared to any stem class at a 4 year. Teacher gives out so much extra credit and the sample exam is nearly identical to the real test, tbh I have no idea why she got bad reviews she was great. Honestly the bad reviews might just be from actual smooth brain students
She'll give you small amounts of homework, she'll give you a slideshow as a lecture, lecture notes and a lot work problems. But personally her way of teaching wasn't for me because I can't stand reading so much material, I'm more of a hands on learner, I learned that by taking this class. Also, She has you use mirrors for lockdown browser exams..
Do not take this professor. Completely absent and unresponsive the entire semester. No instruction, video lectures or support. Extremely hard, uncurved exams all close at 8PM including the final. There was no extra credit ever offered. Her first and only reply to me after the semester was just to say she doesn't change grades. Avoid her courses.
Professor was very un empathetic. She was not helpful at all. Sent multiple emails needing help and was not assistive at all.
Prof. Garg makes this class as easy to understand as possible. She is tough and wants things done correctly, but that's so you learn. She creates handouts and exam reviews herself and gives plenty of practice problems. You can ask questions, and she will take the time to answer them. It's up to you to do the work outside of class.
I would not recommend taking this professor. She was a tough grader, no extra credit or points. Keep in mind there is a lot of reading and memorizing if you want to make a decent grade. She was not easy to reach or good at keeping contact with if you had any concerns.
I took Prof. Garg for CHEM 1111 Lab, overall she was ok. She read the procedure beforehand and let you do the experiment. Thats all. No sense of guidance, and she was a tough grader when it came to labs. Handwritten prelabs due before lab, 12 overall labs 80%, %20 Final exam which was in class online w/ no lockdown browser. Hard to contact by email
took her for the lab, CHEM 1111. no big deal, most annoying thing was the prelab that was just handwriting the whole experimental procedure. she gave clear instructions before the experiment but during it she didnt pay much attention to what you were doing. she never replied to any of my emails whatsoever.
The class was not easy but she was very accessible and offered lots of resources.
She was really great for Chemistry Lab.
The material is not easy, but the professor gives you all the resources possible to succeed in the class. She gives time in class to work over problems and provides good feedback. Additionally, she provides her own set of notes that you can fill out for extra credit. However, make sure the study for her final one month beforehand to succeed.
This class was so easy the exams were basically replicas of the practice exams given, plus you could get up to 10 points of extra credit per test. She is an amazing teacher though she explains things very well and gives good feedback.
She is horrible if you want to save your GPA run away.I took CHEM 1305 she put extra stress on student by imposing the mirror on Respondus. You will be more worry about showing on the keyboad and the lapetop in the mirror rather than focus on the test. No make up no extra credit..... I will be retaking the class to fix my GPA but not with her.
I am honestly surprised by the amount of negative reviews. I took Dr Garg, and she provides a handout that you fill out while in class. If you study a little bit everyday you are guaranteed to pass the exams with an A. My best recommedation with this class is to make flashcards of all the reactions and solve problems from the free textbook.
