This class seemed like it would be tough in the beginning. You have to work hard to earn your grade but she is a wonderful teacher. She is very sweet and helps you in every way possible. Go to class ans take notes and you wont have to buy the book. Lots to know, but she gives all the formulas on the test. She makes it as easy as possible.
Very hard class! Rambles on and one. The lab was the worse!! I heard the late lab class is easier, but i dont know. Sometimes she is helpful but she makes you feel like a total moron. Stats is suppose to be easy, but she expects us to be "professionals", i dont know what her malfucntion is.
"Standard deviation is common sense" according to her. Only likes certain people, and the class is extreamly difficult. She rambles so its hard to keep up. She is corrected by the students almost every class, and in the activities. The homeowrk is massive and attendence is required. She said if you miss 3 classes you might as well drop.
accent (from barcelona) was a little hard to get used to at first, but got used to it after no time. the best part about her class was that for all the tests all the formulas and everything else you'll need is on the test. she's fun if you just talk to her. BREAK THE LINE OF THE STANDARD STUDENT/TEACHER RELATIONSHIP. TALK TO THEM, THEY CAN BE FUN.
This class was great! She's a great professor. The people who commented with negative reviews were probably the one's in my class talking the entire time. She's so easy to understand, gives ALL of the formulas on EVERY test and she's extremely approachable. You don't even need to read because her notes come DIRECTLY from the book.
I TOOK THIS CLASS FOR REQUIRMENT, IT WAS REALLY HARD TO UNDERSTAND HER AT FIRST, SHE'S FROM SPAIN. I THINK IT WAS HER FIRST SEMESTER, SO SHE WAS A LITTLE NERVOUS, SO IT WAS A LOT OF TOUNGE TIES WHEN SHE WAS LECTURING. THIS IS THE ONLY BAD THING.THERE ARE 10 LABS AND HOMEWORK TOO. yOU NEED TO GO TO LECTURE ATTENDANCE COUNTS.
Good for her first year teaching. Does go through the material like it is just common sense, but shes VERY approachable, during office hours. Go to class, take notes, study before the exams and ask questions if you dont understand and you will do great. I've gotten B's in both classes.
This is THE WORST TEACHER IVE EVER HAD!!! She sucks. Super unfair.. everyone in the class was struggling and she curves at the end unfairly. Shes boring, no matter how hard you study for the tests, you wont ever do as well as you think you did. 30 people in class in the beginging and 11 at the final. Plus you have to do an APA paper. DONT TAKE HER!
Stats in general is a hard subject to learn. If you took stats in highschool, this class will be a breeze. I got a 91% final grade but I had to work hard. Just study the lectures, dont need book. Apperantly, i got the 2nd higest grade, so the overall class did bad. However, sad but true, my class was made up of idiots.
She's one of those professors that just cannot explain things to students in a manner that they will understand it. It's a hard class to teach, but other people do a better job at it. Take Cognition with Chiappe and Learning with Schellin. Both great teachers!
i enjoyed her class. it was simple lecture, quizz on each chapter, 3 or 4 multiple choice exams that arent that bad if u study, a short easy research article and a research paper. the research paper is NOT as difficult as it sounds since all it is is a 5-6pg paper.
She is very sweet. However, I found her lectures to be pretty useless. She got most of her exam questions from the textbook. She was very fair with grading though and tried to be as helpful as possible. The workload was pretty minimal as well compared to other classes.
THE BEST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD in my college career ever! Dr. Giralt is very helpful and always takes time to make sure you understand the material. She is very knowledgeable and well prepared in every class, and if you want a teacher who is passionate about teaching, she is that person. I enjoyed her class and have learned so much!! A++++
she is very helpful and available. she really wants people to succeed in her class and she doesnt mind staying later or really helping you out. she speaks with kind of an accent but it isnt too hard to understand. the stuff she lectures on comes STRAIGHT from the book so its easy to clarify something that you are unsure of.study guides helpful
Not clear at all! Goes throgh the chapters WAY to fast and can only teach things one way. Tests are very hard and take the whole time if not longer. Only take her if it is life or death.
do not take this woman! she is extremely difficult to understand and she's quite a two face! 1st test was easy but after that it all goes downhill. read the book page to page because her multiple choice questions all come from concepts in the book which she doesnt not cover. be prepared to teach yourself because she goes way too fast!!!!
Dr. Giralt is very helpful and really cares about her students. She made the class a lot less painful than I thought it was going to be. Plus, she's very nice and very approachable!
She is amazing and sincerly cares about her students who SEEK HELP from her. If you are struggling like I was, go to her office and get help. if you don't and ur struggling, how will she know? i hate math, but im glad i took it with her. i learned a lot. i was in her office a lot to get help. nobody else was really ever there. plus she's very nice.
Great teacher and VERY nice! I highly reccomend taking her class. Simplifies difficult material so you can understand it and helps you out if you're having a difficult time. You can tell she cares about her students.
Dr. Giralt is so willing to help her students out. The labs are pretty easy, just follow the 'Demos'. I think the book really helps, the hw assignments aren't too bad. Attendance is mandatory. Statistics as a subject can be challenging, but Dr. Giralt is truly a sincere teacher.
she is a very nice lady but the subject matter is just not that interesting and is fairly difficult. dont fall behind because each concept builds on the previous one. tests are not horrible but you do need to study. dont get the book. she does have an accent but its not much of an issue.
Love her! She really cares about her students and is VERY nice. Willing to help you out if you ask her. I hate math, but she made the material easy to understand.
Great Professor. She's very helpful and caring towards her students.
She is tight. Def recommend. Really helpful. Does tests at students pace. I got a C in my community college intro stats class so i was really scared to take this one. I got an A in the class and an A on every test. If you want to do good AND learn stats, this is your class.
Her class is hard. You need to study the book because the lectures arent enough. She goes through chapters very fast and homework is very minimal. I recommend doing odd problems in the book to make sure you understand because she doesnt give enough feedback. class average was 62.
Outstanding Professor. I usually struggle in math but she made it really simple. She is always willing to help. If you are having trouble just go to her office hours, she really wants her students to do well in the class.
Had her for stats! I loved her, shes very sweet and willing to help at all times. Basically you have 9 short labs, 3 exams and a cumulative final. The class definitely gets harder as it goes (naturally) but if you start off with an A and keep working hard then it's not too hard to end up with an A- or B+
STAT. She is very helpful(nice&lenient) if u go to her office hours. Notecards on the test/final. Do-able hws and labs. Attend lecture, ppt slides, use book to comprehend better. Could get older version of the books. Do best and A is achievable
Her lectures were a little unorganized at times, but she is super helpful if you need her. Very nice lady. This class was not as difficult as I was worried it would be, although I was a little disappointed with the grading. Homework and labs are worth the same amount of points, which could be a good or a bad thing depending on the person.
the best math teacher i have had. clear in lectures and her expectations of the class. very helpful and approachable in office hours, very down-to-earth, unpretentious person overall. class had lab and hw assignments, daily review problems that accounts for participation, 3 midterms (with m.c. and problem sets), and 1 final. sounds a lot but its not
great teacher. very fun. she challenges you to think outside the box. at first she seems mean but she can be very nice and easy to talk to. class discussions were always interesting. make sure you speak and comment on the topic and your guaranteed a good grade.
Overall good professor. Class discusses hard topics, but helps you establish a firm stand on the topic. Exams can be difficult if you do not study. Many assignments and quizzes, but only 3 exams (including the final). Takes forever to post up grades, but do recommend this class for critical thinking.
AWESOME professor! Took 210 & 310 and taking her for 332(cognition) this semester. If she offered more classes, I'd take them. Very helpful, clear, doesn't move on unless everyone is ready to & thoroughly reviews before exams. Allows an index card for 210 & 310 exams. Awesome accent but not hard at all to understand. You wont regret taking her!
She is a really nice lady and the assignments are pretty easy. However, she quizzes on the chapter before she lectures on it to make sure you read it, which is lame. But the class is totally doable. Also, remember to do the coglabs quickly because she doesn't give you much time.
Her class is pretty difficult. She's a nice woman and I'm sure she's a wonderful teacher, but I don't think she should be teaching statistics. She doesn't explain it very well and her tests are difficult. The final is really hard! (Her TA's grade really strict, so take your times on the labs!)
Really great professor. She was really fair and made stats manageable. If you have to take stats, for sure take it with her!
She is a great professor. Before entering the class i was dreading taking stats and dealing with math, but it really wasn't all that bad. She gives you powerpoints for all her lectures which is a big help. Her lab is also good, she gives you detailed instructions on what and how to do it. Plus i sujest you go to her if your struggling, she is nice
Lectures are very easy, must attend class if you want to get a good grade. Her test are half multiple choice and half written. Make sure that she gets your work and keep track of everything she lost two of my assignments and I had to take her class over again only taking the exams. Study hard and ask questions. I got a C but I could have gotten a B
Curves grades=BIG HELP,really cares about her students success&always willing to help. attendance counts,3 exams, cumulative final, and she does move fast so pay attention, take notes & print the powerpoint to follow along. No one wants to take stats but if you find yourself needing to, take it with this teacher.
Prof Giralt is so helpful and really wants to see her students be successful. She won't move on until everyone gets it. Make sure to ask questions. Attendance is mandatory. Allows a note card on exams and drops the last three scores on the CRA assignments. Take her!!!
Great professor. Easy. Explains things, but gives way too many examples it gets boring! But you actually learn! Didn't try hard and still got an A. Note cards for test too!
super nice!!! she drops the 3 lowest CRA's and allows you to use an index card for the exams!great professor!
She is very nice & cares about her students. She wants everyone to learn & won't move on in the lecture until everyone understands. Drops your lowest CRA scores, labs are easy & curves on test! She provides many examples to help you learn! Recommend her!!!! :)
I love her! She wants her students to succeed and is always willing to help. She's really patient when answering questions and uses a lot of examples in her power points. Get a 3x5 card and a sheet of equations for every exam, so no need to memorize. Attendance is mandatory, but I took it on Fridays and didn't have an issue. Take her, you'll learn!
Very helpful. she is great! She goes the extra mile to actually help you understand material. The course is not too hard but it isn't easy so just study and go for her because she actually does help! I recommend her
Extremely helpful and nice. If you ever have questions, make sure to go to her office hours. She wants to make sure you do well. The labs are easy, but be careful to not make simple mistakes. Same for the exams. As long as you pay attention and follow along the exams are easy, but the multiple choice questions are hard. Multiple choice final!
Nice teacher, and her assignments are reasonable, but her tests are very difficult. Does not curve final grade, just the tests. Her Lab Assignments are unhelpful and grade the labs way too hard, struggled through the class.
She is really helpful and energetic. I highly recommend taking her.
She is one of the best professors I've had. Taken her for intro and intermediate stats and human cognition. She's a really good stats professor! She might go through things slowly, but the basics help you excel in advanced statistics courses.
lab and lecture. Lab is tough to understand. She helps you, but limited time to do it. Lecture is confusing cuz she kinda speaks in circles. But ASK QUESTIONS! this what really helped me. I asked a lot of ?'s any time i was confused or need another explanation & sit in the front. Do online questions from the book! *hint*
I am not good at math, at all. Why I took Stats 310 when I barely passed Stat 210 I don't know. She is a very nice teacher, very helpful if you need her and incredibly kind, but I felt I couldn't grasp the information very well (though I think this has more to do with me). Don't miss class! Book is very helpful. Funny and helpful :)
She is an amazing teacher.
LOVED Dr. Giralt! She is so nice and will answer ANY questions you have. She really cares about her students and will help as much as she can so everyone gets an A. She gives weekly review assignments and questions like those show up on exams. Take her! Especially if you don't find yourself to be strong in math. Don't need the textbook at all.
Reads from the slides in class. Must be good at math to do well in her class. More computational in focus than conceptual.
Giralt has an accent that is a little hard to decipher but you get used to it. The assignments (really there's only 1 big one) is pretty easy and she grades pretty well and gives opportunity to raise them. She gives quizzes on chapters so make sure you read the syllabus for when they are so you can prepare. Most is common sense but vocab is key.
I came into the class--scared! I didn't know what to expect especially since it was my first time taking a STATS course. Seriously tho, she's amazing! She's super cool and down to earth. Yes, there are assignments due every day, but lets be real it is a MATH class & the assignments are just like the exams. She doesn't try to trick you at all :)
I absolutely loved Professor Giralt! I was terrified of taking cognition but she was amazing! The material is not that easy, but she goes through every topic. Whatever she doesn't cover, she won't include. I recommend going to her office hours and doing her study guides! There is nothing on the test that she doesn't cover on her study guides :)
Loved her! she is an excellent instructor, you are never bored in her class. She is also very approachable and wants you to succeed. Gives you a great study guide with practice questions on it. 3 exams 3, 1-2 page papers, 1, 3 page paper and quizzes but she drops 2. TAKE HER! one of the best professors Ive ever had! I wish she taught more classes!
I performed terribly in intro but with Dr. Giralt everything was very clear and I am doing great in 310. When you don't get something she does another example and another until you do. Always in her office ready to answer question too! 4 exams and short HW assignments for each Ch. plus labs. YOU MUST TAKE HER!!! best instructor I've ever had!
Loved her! She made the class so interesting and every class you walk out knowing something that changes and challenges what you thought you knew. 5 question quizzes, 4 small papers, 3 of them on online experiments you participate in! and 1 on an article. Only 3 exams that are part essay and part multiple choice but she prepares you very well!!!
AT least 10 lab assignments and 10 quizzes, three exams, three lab write ups and 1 article review that has to be written up and presented informally in class. It's a lot of work. Had I known this, I would have avoided this class. Plus side: easy to get in touch with, will accommodate your needs, works with you, and wants you to succeed.
I love Dr. Giralt!!! She's amazingly clear, helpful, and hilarious! Now don't slack off cause stats is HARD, but she's the person to take it with.
Very nice and the class is interesting. Take if you're up for actually reading and work. Consists of 3 exams, 10 lab experiments online (easy), 4 lab write ups (tough grader, apa, pass or fail paper), 1 article review and informally present. Also (4 question) quiz on every chapter. Possible A is you apply yourself. I would recommend.
This woman is great. Very clear cut on what she expects from homework and performance on tests, and makes sure you're ready for it with informative lectures. If you don't get it, she's willing to help. Labs are tedious and graded tough, but they're very beneficial to your learning. She also cracks jokes here and there. She's great, take this class.
I see that alot of students had good experiences with this proffessor. However my experience was a nightmare she grades all assigments and exams very difficult. Her lectures are very rushed. Tests are superlong for the amount of time given. I dont recommend anyone this professor
Assignments are graded tough. Dr. Giralt's lectures are extremely rushed & difficult to follow, especially if you are not good at math. Her lectures focus more on working out problems and she hardly spends time explaining concepts. Exams are very long for the short time given & includes MC questions about concepts she barely discussed in class.
3 non cumulative exams, plus 10 quizzes (these are a killer because you must always be reading ahead so it requires consistency from the students), plus some cog lab write ups that were worth 20% of the grade and were pass/fail (the pass/fail felt a little arbitrary, so that was tough). The class is really interesting though!
The course is tough, but professor Giralt is great at explaining everything. She uses clear examples and tries to make the class interesting. She's energetic and upbeat, so you won't end up falling asleep. Mandatory attendance, homework for each chapter, labs due every two weeks, exams about every 2-3 chapters. Lots of work, but it's all helpful!
Tries to thoroughly explain the work. Keeps the class interesting for the most part through her energy. However, examples should be explained step by step. Can tend to skip steps expecting you know what she is doing. Can be unorganized with examples, kind of everywhere. Homework for every chapter, labs due every 2 weeks, exams (about) every 3 ch.
10-12 chapter quizzes, 10-14 coglabs plus 4 write-ups that are pass/fail, term paper due at the final and 3 exams. It was tough, especially with the quizzes every week. She expects you to participate. She has great energy but she is a tough grader. I was unsure at times but she can answer your questions. Pay attention and read.
I have always sucked at math, especially Stats. Professor Giralt is super nice and helpful! I took her on Fridays only so the class including lab was almost 4 hours or so, but she keeps things going and let's the class have a break in between because she knows how tiring it can be. Overall, great teacher! I liked math again because of her!
She is by far one of my favorite professors even though I didn't get an A in her class and that's saying something. What I learned from her class was more valuable than a grade. I wasn't used to the structure of her tests. The questions were meaningful and that made it harder but it helped me understand the information on a deeper level.
Professor Nuria is an amazing professor who is very clear and a great lecturer. She has great informative lectures slides that will help you if you don't remember stats. Also really good step-by-step examples to help with exams. Also really open to questions in class and communicates well with students who struggle! I really recommend her class!
Her lectures and exams are so in depth. She is a really tough grader as well, especially if their in your own opinion. We have to use the textbook a lot because their are daily quizzes every class. There are 3 exams, including final, and 1 project. She only gives out definitions for the study guide. She likes to question your reasoning a lot :(
Loved this class! This class was really fun, made me question a lot of things I believed in and made me a better arguer. There were 3 tests but for my class 1st one was in class other take-home. She isn't too clear when things are due so just make sure you keep up with her. She curved the class grading scale in the end so that helped a lot!
Really great teacher. As long as you go to class and stay on top of your stuff you should be able to get an A. She's super sweet and just wants the best for her students.
Professor Giralt has been incredible. The work is tough but she does an excellent job in explaining the steps thoroughly in her lectures, and will be more than willing to spend extra time to do example problems if need be. She teaches Statistics in a manner that is compelling and engaging and would highly recommend her.
I wouldnt really reccomend anyone taking the class unless its meets more than 1x/week. Shes actually a good professor and I understood her but sitting in that class for 5 hours was exhausting. Her tests were pretty hard and I got a high C on all three but was able to get a B because of labs and CRAs. Just do every assignment to help your grade
Loved her! She really takes the time to ensure that you understand the concept, and if not, she'll try to teach it a different way. The class is a breeze if you remember/did well in intro stats. Formulas are provided for tests, no memorization needed, just how to use them. She really wants you to do well. Homework every week, lab work every 2 weeks
she's really unorganized but honestly i did not mind! in class quiz for almost every chapter so do reading and pay attention in lecture. exams are mc and short essay AND open notes and she provides study guides which has the short essay questions on them. theres a final project, can be paper, powerpoint, video or anything really. She's just great!
There are a lot of assignments in this class, but they are beneficial. I feel like this class was difficult because it was once a week. I passed because her grading criteria does have a bit of a curve. Great professor, but she does move quick since we do not have much time in a once a week course. Ask questions if something is unclear.
Class goes too fast and she does not explain concepts that well so if you already struggle with math, you will have to work extra hard outside of class. Usually going to office hours does not help that much. She also doesn't give graded homework back until after the test which makes it more difficult to know exactly what you personally need to do.
She lectures pretty well. Workload for this class was not too heavy. Papers are assigned but they are not strenuous. The average paper length was 3 pgs, double spaced. She cares about your opinions and gives good feedback. Ended up thinking more critically after this class. No group work, thank goodness!!!!!
People like Nuria Giralt are the problem. I got to experience this first hand. Communist Marxist indoctrination. Don't like that stuff? Don't dare speak out or you will FAIL this class. Free Speech? I think not. Is she Pro Gulag? The lady doth protest too much, methinks. She cares more about indoctrination of Marxism than Psychology
Professor Nuria is very kind. She is very lecture heavy, but she does encourage you to think and class discussions could get heated (in a good way). Exams were take-home and were somewhat difficult but still doable. 3 exams in total. Essays were typically 3-5 pages. Most essays are for your term project, which you get to choose.
Dr. Giralt is an amazing professor who tries to make the class engaged through thought-provoking discussions. There is a six part research project (you pick the topic), three exams that were a take-home (includes final exam), and take home quizzes based on the reading for each chapter. Participate in class every so often, as it is 10% of your grade
Theres a lot of assignments in that class, but most of them are relatively easy. Shes very understanding professor and is always willing to help you. One of the most caring professors at CSULB. Theres a lot of discussions in class that are based on the reading, but as long as you have an understanding of the terms youll be good.
Shes an amazing professor. If you struggle with math dont take her once a week class, as the class is 5 hours (lab included) and you will get tired. She uploads all her slides in advance and tries her best to go through all the material she can in the time she has. She very caring and easy to talk to.
Lots of work, but very very easy. Quizzes/exams are take home (including final). Semester project is split into 6 parts, ( 2-4 pages ea. )and she's really not a tough grader. She's nice, approachable, and understanding. We read one book of our choice and did reflection broken into 4 parts (1-2 pg reflections) Must participate in class. Take her (:
This class is manageable and easy if you stay on top of things! If you take this class, read the textbook along with the assignments each week to make things easy for yourself. Personally, I scored high As on all the tests and assignments so far because of this. Also, Giralt is super easy to talk to when you're confused about something, take her!!!
I took this class online because of covid and thought she was great! I suck at math and procrastinated with her assignments which made the class very difficult so if you stay on top of the assignments itll be easy. There is a lot of work due such as weekly labs and in class protects and the class can get very tiring due to how long it is.
She is very kind, my nicest professor in all my classes. She is flexible with due dates which was especially helpful. She posted all the lectures on beachboard. Her lectures match the assignment well so it's easy to do them if you follow her examples. There is about 3 assignments per week. Overall great professor that I'd take again.
I took this class online and had a very hard time doing all the work she provided. You have 2 assignments weekly as well as chapter problems and vocabulary you have to do from mindtap. There are 4 exams the entire semester. If you don't learn stats/math well online don't take it, I learned the hard way. I'm sure she's a great prof in person though.
If your scared on taking Statistics like everybody else I suggest to take Dr. Giralt she has the patience and truly wants you to learn. There is lots of homework and make sure you do all the projects. I would 100% take her again.
She can go over lessons fast but if we have questions she always answers them. There is homework every week! very easy work. Consists of 4 exams, mind tap, project problems, and labs super easy. Can always use lab for homework help. Always went over study guides with us which was helpful. 100% recommend Professor Giralt. Great Professor!!
Only problem I have is that she takes forever to grade projects and labs so no feedback till after the exams. Other then that, high quality professor. Grades exam generously, her lectures are always to the point and is there to help you! if you do not go to class or watch lectures, you will fail. Dr. Giralt gets you prepared for research methods!
Professor Giralt is very friendly and explains topics very well during lectures! Make sure to go to class because a lot of the stuff in the lectures will show up on the exams. I highly suggest going to office hours. There are weekly labs and projects but they're not too long and she gives you lots of time both in and out of class. Read the book!
Dr. Giralt is a great professor. She truly cares about her students success. Don't be afraid to ask questions. There are a TON of assignments, but she gives you reasonable time to complete them. She is very flexible with due dates. Exams were fair.
Sort of easy class. Show up to class b/c she does have in class assignments. She is a disorganized and sometimes rules/ directions can be unclear. Takes a while to respond to emails, but is very approachable during office hours. Understanding and kind towards students.
SUPER sweet and caring professor! There were around 4 assignments per week, which can be tough to handle, so definitely make sure to always stay on top of them, or else your grade will tank. She uploads recorded lectures which is helpful esp if you can't make it to class. Make sure to ask questions if you don't understand the material!!
Terrible teacher. Avoid at all costs.
This was my second time taking a class with Professor Giralt, and I absolutely loved her both times. She is so sweet and understanding and definitely does everything she can to make sure everyone is on the same page. People who say she isn't a good teacher are definitely those lazy students since she is ALWAYS offering to clarify topics with us.
She is really caring and wants students to succeed. You need to go to her if. u need help or else it will be hard to pass the class bc its heavy math stats. It was really fast paced but if u go to her for understanding you will pass.
She's the sweetest and she always was prepared to teach the class, but this professor assigns too much homework. There are problem sets, projects, labs, and mind taps. This amount of work makes it hard to study for her class and for other classes. I would avoid this class if you're taking more than 3 classes.
Stats is not an easy class! If you need help, please go ask for it. Professor Giralt is very kind and will help you with any assignments (including online ones). This class is very heavy on assignments, so plan ahead wisely. My biggest mistake was not asking for help after failing my first exam. Don't be like me!
She is very sweet and a caring prof. The class is mainly review from 110, but there is kind of a lot of homework. Most of it is really easy and she drops the 2 lowest project and mindtap grades. I only attended lab like 3 times total and still got high As on all of them. I almost never attended lecture and was still able to understand the material.
idk how people said on here that her exams are take home She definitely does not do that anymore. she treats this class like an upper division class. The worst part of this class are the exams. She expects us to memorize content for our exams. She needs to do something about the exams before everyone fails her class. tough grader Dont recommend
She was the sweetest prof ever!! I love her! its true that there is a lot of hw but its easy (in class project, mindtap (easy) and problem sets))! problem sets r hard, but if you dont know how to do a problem you can email her and you get full credit! She is very very very nice and if you get to know her it will be for your benefit :)
Overall, the class was great. Her lectures were well explained. And she was nearly always in her office hours. I do warn you that there is a lot of homework. It was a lab and project due every week. Test were a little challenging but manageable. Personally, I'm lazy, and I dreaded the class but as long as you pay attention/turn in the work ur fine!
She is the sweetest professor ever. You have to put in the work to do well in this class. She allows a notecard for the test and also gives you the formulas. Projects and labs are easy and you are allowed to do it with a small group. Lectures and labs are recorded so you can rewatch and study! She really wants her students to succeed.
The class is simple and easy to understand. But when she gives out assignment, they are hard to understand and when asking her about it she states refer to the rubric which also is difficult to
Professor Giralt is my favorite teacher at Long Beach. Her class is engaging, clear, and thorough. She really wants you to succeed and is willing to check homework, labs, and exam review questions. She is super sweet, caring, and always fun to chat with. Overall, she is an amazing Professor, I really recommend taking PSY 110 with her.
Dr. Giralt's class was a bit of a struggle for me. The way that she taught and ran her class it felt like it wasn't made for me. My learning style is more hands on, and I didn't feel my learning style matched with the way she taught she also sometimes seemed disorganized. However, Dr. Giralt is a very sweet human being and easy to talk to.
Unorganized, confusing grader, doesn't return/grade assignments in a timely manner. Also doesn't check her emails, or ever responds yet claims its the best way to reach her. "Participation/Discussions" in class are her asking a million questions about personal beliefs.
she is the only teacher who stayed on course of the syllabus which I appreciated. The tests are so much writing in a short time but they were overall easy as they were all open note.Take notes and it is a easy fun class, I would only say you would have to ask for clarification if you dont understand something she explains, but dont be afraid to ask!
shes such a sweet professor, im very glad I took her. her class can be a little hard to keep up with, but she is always willing to help! the tests basically define your grade, so you can do all the homework (projects & lab) and get perfect on those but if you do bad-ish on the tests it brings you down :( you can work w ppl for the projects and lab!
Intermediate stats is just one of those classes that isn't fun, so if you are iffy about whether to take intermediate stats just don't do it. But if you want to take intermediate, then take Giralt. She wants her students to pass, class is set up in a good way, she lectures well with a ton of examples. Just make sure to do the homework, it helps.
Professor Giralt's class is engaging and thorough. She wants you to succeed and is willing to help. Though demanding, the work pays off. Consider using Unstuckstudy as a helpful study tool.
Professor Giralt is so kind, and obviously excited to learn about her students and their perspectives. However, I will say that a lot of the assignments she gave us were hard to understand in my opinion. The guidelines were a bit blurry, and therefore the work was harder to format. She is always available and eager to help!
beware of who you sit next to bc those ppl might be part of your group, and if they dont do your work, then youre screwed. I do not recommend taking her unless she is the last or only option. Confusing with instructions. Should ask her for clarification. Formatting of class and work is odd. do not take unless u hate urself or want to do more work.
Don't do it just don't. RUN!
Professor talks in circles, often contradicting herself. Her assignments are poorly constructed, with ambiguous and sometimes incomplete instructions. She often goes on tangents about politics and religion, including her beliefs and opinions on certain topics. She is oblivious to how she acts in class, often condescending. Do not take this class.
The professor does not respond to emails and grades students harshly on tests and participation. On her homework, she will check if you follow each question closely and answer them based on her confusing grading criteria. I don't need critical thinking to claim that this is one of the hardest non-science/math GE credits you could take.
Intermediate stats is naturally difficult, but Professor Giralt did a great job teaching the content. She can lecture a bit fast tho, I recommend reading the textbook before each class. 4 exams, a couple of labs, and short chapter assignments. Overall, I highly recommend her. She's very helpful. Make sure to ask questions!
Stressed me out so much. Agreed with all her opinions and arguments but she made her stance very obvious throughout the entire class. The homeworks were so bad and so long for no reason. She's often late and her grading is so harsh, hardly explains why you get the grades you do. Overall, wouldn't take again and i DO NOT recommend. Save yourself.
She is participation heavy and a strict grader (rarely gives you a 100%). You learn more from the homework than class (30+ concepts, 4 questions per concept; once had the equivalent of 200 questions twice). If you try to reach out, she is pretty difficult and won't help you much. Overall ok, but not a great prof. Wouldn't take again.
