3 hour long lectures...very monotonous lectures..hard to concentrate...exams r hard..she doesnt make them..the department makes it for all the sections...avoid this course/lecturer
Love her classes and enjoy her personality:):):)
really hard n unfair exams...
A good professor, one of the nicest I ever had. Yes the exam is hard but she helps if you ask her to help.
Really nice and helpful. Explained the material very well.
Very helpful professor. Sometimes hard to understand but tries hard to make sure students know the material. Tends to make mistakes sometimes but her humor and innocence forgives her. A great professor.
AMAZING TEACHER>
Really nice prof
Great prof. Make sure to always hand in your test for a remark, she'll find a way to bump it up.
despite the bad hand writing ,her lecture notes are very useful .she is very friendly and helpful ,just go and talk to her :) ,highly recommended ......
She's very nice but can be confusing at times. Lecture is boring, but make sure to go to her office hours. She's very helpful clarifying points.
Very helpful teacher and very easy going, makes the course very easy to learn and adapt
very interactive class with occasional bad jokes! lol
Honestly one of the best professors ever. I had her for Linear Algebra (MTH 141) and she honestly just made the course a breeze. Posts very good lecture notes, explains them well in class and is willing to help you with every problem and tells you what exactly is going to be on the test. Very lenient instructions for test markings and very helpful!
By far the best prof for math. Had her for MTH141 and she basically spoon feeds you everything. Nicest prof and makes it clear whats going to be on the tests and final.
she's fantastic teacher I love her, the key to pass her course 1)attend her class 2)take notes 3) let her know your face and name 4)smile for her silly jokes
She is a real sweetheart. Really fair prof that feels for the success of her students. A little too nice for her own good: students were getting too loud and too rowdy. I would take another course with her any day, too bad I am graduating already and won't get a chance to.
GET HER FOR MTH425!&you better attend all the lectures because she is awesome. Very easy course and if you take it with her, you are guaranteed an A.
not clear at all. easy to fall asleep during her class
The best prof ive had so far!!!
The Best professor ever! Go to her office hour if you don't understand! Be respectful in lectures! She is the bestest professor EVER!
Freaking sucks. This is an important course for Computer Science students. Unbelievable that this turd has this job. And interesting that every negative comment about her on this site has been removed... I understand no one wants to lose their job but there is a responsibility to hundreds of students... stop censoring the truth about her
She is amazing! Period.
The best professor so far. Loved the classes!
The most amazing professor ever! She is really understanding and sweet. Go to her office hours if you have any problems and ask her questions. She will try her best to help you succeed in the course!
She gives really helpful hints regarding the tests/exams, the review stuff is vital, and the tests/exams are very reasonable. Not THAT great of a teacher, but if you go see her and stuff, you will receive the necessary help.
An okay professor. Really easy course if you do all the homework. Prior calculus knowledge will help a lot. The two midterms and three quizzes were really easy. Quizzes are all m/c and tests are m/c and problem solving. The final was a lot harder than expected.
One of the best profs I've had at Ryerson. Her in class reviews and online reviews set you up to ace every exam. She wants her students to do well.
Extremely helpful prof. Goes above and beyond to make sure her students do well.
The best prof ever!! Very sweet and helpful
She was alright when it came to the lectures, I dont like how she uses powerpoints and reads them, not too many examples in the lecture and makes the lecture boring. But she gives you questions to practice for exams also the powerpoint content is decent no the best but gets yo trough ,I would recommend to get a stats textbook.
Very strict marker. Rarely gives out part marks for full solution answers. Doesn't give out part marks to a fault, even if you nearly have correct solution, you may get a 0 for your answer.
She is a great Proff, Go to class if you wanna do well and pay attention. Do class notes again and do home and you will pass.
Excellent professor. Cares about her students. Do all the homework and follow her power points.
Great Prof, go to class pay attention and do some practise problems. Exams are close to the examples in class
Not a very good prof at all. Extremely long powerpoints (70+ slides every time) and she just reads through them. Don't even have to go to class because of that. However, she does mark extremely easy and her tests are actually really easy if you study.
Lectures are very confusing because she isn't very clear. Go to lectures because in between the 'uuhhhs' she gives hints on what will and will not be on the tests. Tests are pretty straightforward, just go over tutorial questions.
TAKE THE COURSE IN THE SUMMER. Not with her. You will be a lot happier paying 800 bucks for a course. She really needs to treat all the students fairly to be honest and needs to understand that they are not highschool students. Her lectures are condensed and she tends to just read off them. I wish she made the class more interesting for everybody.
Dr Ruzgar is an amazing prof. Her lectures are long but very clear with lots of exampes (not as much theory or definitions). She exmplains everything very clearly and easy to understand. She does have a bit of an accent but that makes lectures kind of fun.
She does not know how to speak English. After each word she'll say "um" (Hi (um) my (um) name (um) is (um) nursel (um)). If you end up having her there is no point in coming to class, you'll just be wasting 3 hours.
Great prof, long lectures but informative! Eager to help students, provides useful example exercises and prepares you for the upcoming tests
Her lectures are great, very clear and she gives lots of examples. The quizzes and final were much harder than the examples she did in class. She wasn't very helpful when I went to review my midterm and told me I only had 5 minutes which clearly wasn't enough time. I also asked her to explain something and she was hesitant to do so.
Good professor. Gives a lot of examples, when I mean a lot, I mean A LOT. She can be boring sometimes but that is because she will give you a lot of examples based on the same topic. Pretty clear but her accent/way she talks gets a class or two to getting used to. Expect the quizzes to be tricky, but the midterm and exam were pretty simple.
Not sure what people are talking about when they say shes bad. She's a really nice lady and a great prof. Seriously, they can come a lot worse. Very very helpful and understanding if you speak with her. She prefers to be tougher on her students but will do all that she can to help you. Lectures are a little long.
don't waste your time with her, she will have an unfair exam
She practically begged the class to give her a good review and then after the survey was closed, she gave us the hardest test we have ever done in her class. Don't let her teach this course
Nursel is very underestimated. She is so knowledgable and although she's a little difficult to understand, her accent is not overbearing whatsoever. This class is easy if you do your work and keep on top of things! Some concepts are easier than others but overall a good class and a good professor.
Her lectures are dry and her accent can really get in the way but she is knowledgeable in the material.
Pretty straightforward class. She gives very helpful notes (all powerpoint, all uploaded to D2L) and if you have questions, or if the class seems confused, she makes sure to take time to explain. Her helpfulness was much appreciated. Take this class as a GPA booster.
She's so sweet, and is there when you need her. If you want to know specifics of the exams and what isn't covered email her. She responds all the time. It's a hard course in general, so if you don't work your butt off you won't get good results regardless of the proff. And before each exam/ test she tells you a basis of the questions. Worth it
MTH304 or CMTH304 is suppose to be a tough course (as it is mostly for math and comp sci majors). She really managed to dumb it down to a very simple level in order to explain it. Her exams are very similar to posted practice questions. Quizzes were easy, final was long but manageable.
She is so thorough with what she expects on the 3 quizzes, 2 midterm and final exam. She will tell you exactly what she is testing for each assessment. Very helpful if you do not understand something she will spend her time explaining. Definitely a GPA booster with her. Just do the practice questions and you will be fine.
Professor Ruzgar is a very nice prof that tries to help you whenever you ask her to. You need to study for her tests in order to do well, however, they are not brutally hard. You can do well in this class with reasonable effort. She gives hints about tests and quizzes during class and her reviews before the test really help so don't miss them!
She is extremely nice, helpful and caring.
She is a nice prof. I didnt find any issue with her accent at all as she provides extensive power point slide lecture notes. Her mid-term tests were preceded by review questions which were really helpful. Her final exam was a bit long although not too difficult if one makes a reasonable effort. Course text book is good but notes/review questions a
Although her voice can cause drowsiness to anyone lucky enough to hear it, she is a really kind and caring woman. Her lecture notes alone were very helpful and she gives you tons of examples and review questions for practice, but her tests are a little too long. Final note, fun game idea: take a shot every time she says "uhh."
Great teacher and truly cares about students learnings! amazing!
She really explains the material well if you have a question, she will go back and explain once again. She helps out those who are struggling in the class with the material. great prof!
Good Professor, I recommend attending and paying attention in class. Tough but fair exams, provides additional practice material for the tougher parts of the course.
Dr. Ruzgar was very helpful and provided many hints that were useful when studying for both midterms as well as the final exam. Make sure you attend each class in order to take advantage of this, along with several examples that she gives in class that may in fact make the concept easier to understand as opposed to a 30-slide-explanation.
Caring professor, however her teaching style is more suitable for tutoring session. She is, however, very knowledgeable. I would rate the course for 5 stars if she provide more intuitive explanation and focus more on concept rather than technique in the lectures. Her exam is tough but her grading is easy.
great teaching skills!
She is hilarious! Her humor keeps us engaged in lecture, and she teaches very well. She really cares about helping too. If you meet with her in office hours or after lecture she will spend time with you to help. Wonderful.
She was a bad teacher you can barely understand her. The only way you could do well was to read the book, and go to tutor. the class average was 60 something, the only way you could get a good mark is if you study yourself, and use youtube.
she is rude, she took the test away from me, her test are way to hard
just bad
Nursel is a good prof. Really really Russian, monotone voice. Her lectures are so detailed... sometimes a little too detailed (over complicates it) The textbook in this course is probably more effective and to the point than her lectures. But I will give her an A for effort for her slides lol... The online homework is so annoying but helpful
She's a really nice woman but it's close to impossible to stay engaged in her class. She over explains things and makes it seem more complicated than it really is. You're going to have to basically teach yourself this entire course by reading the textbook.
For anyone taking Ruzgar's class, I would recommend trying to switch to another professor Unfortunately, Ruzgar's teaching method is not effective She is not passionate about teaching and is unable to explain concepts properly She will often teach important stuff at the very end before a quiz or test She does not seem to care about the course
Very nice teacher and likes to help you, but is just terrible at answering questions and doesn't clear questions up if anything makes you more confused. I would recommend another professor!
Ruzgar is very thorough with her lectures, sometimes a little too thorough. She cares about her students and drops hints about evaluations if you show up to class. You can tell she is genuinely excited about the material. Sometimes she explains things a lot more difficult than they should be. But overall, she's decent and fair.
Extremely boring and isn't clear when explaining
Yes, she has a heavy accent and sometimes does not answer what is being asked in questions, but she really cares about the students and explains topics thoroughly. After all, this is a hard course and you have to put in a lot of your own work and practice to succeed.
She is the best instructor I have ever seen
Sweet lady, replies to you emails and answers all questions in class. But, she assumes we already know stats so she goes super fast. If you fall behind one week you're screwed. Her slides teach you almost everything, so class isn't mandatory but I recommend it. Ended up having to take a crash course for the final though.
Nursel is a very caring lady. She tries her best to make sure her students understand. She is well aware of her accent and tries to not make a barrier while teaching. She explains topics very well. This is a tough course but if you pay attention and go to class Ruzgar will defiantly help you along the way. Good choice for QMS.
This prof is good at what she does. Many people complained about her but if you do your work and study, you will get a good mark. She likes to take many smoke breaks, so if you see her smoking outside come say hi and she will remember you.
Lectures are more or less her reading the slides but she does give some good examples. I have had two courses with her but if you are slow with learning, this is not the teacher for you since she goes through things fast
Ruzgar is a great prof! Her accent may be hard to understand, but with time you won't even notice it. She teaches off powerpoint slides and her examples are from the textbook, so would highly recommend doing the readings before class. Her tests are very fair and she prepares you well for them. Definitely take her!
The curriculum seems to dictate that professors spend the majority of their time "mathematically proving" the formulas and calculations. Nursel does the job fine, but I think it's a bad system. Thankfully her homework assignments are extremely representative of the actual test material. Do all the work and you can definitely expect an A.
Her lectures are quite boring however, she's extremely caring towards her students and makes the effort to explain things.
Her lectures were super boring and to be honest, if you put your mind to it you can teach yourself the material. However, if you do go to class, you'll find that she's very caring and wants to make sure that everyone understands.
she was extremely clear and was happy to stop her lecture to answer any relevant questions. She has a remarkable ability to explain difficult subject matter vividly. Dr. Ruzgar provides charts and figures in class that assist students in the understanding of the material. She is brilliant and it is a pleasure to listen to her. She is so nice and w
She is a very sweet and caring person. However, depending on your learning style she mainly verbally explains the material. Personally if she would solve the problems step by step and encourage students to follow along I would have enjoyed it more. She is not too bad of a choice but you may need to do a lot of self learning.
Just study her examplar questions. Also she makes note of what is on the exam in class so that is the only reason why you should go. Otherwise her lecture notes are straightforward and have a lot of examples to help you understand what is going on.
the test is so much harder than what she taught in class.
Can't teach at all. Save your time and try to get a better prof . Tough course and she doesnt do any examples in class to help.
Say NO to this Professor. She is the best professor in screwing you future. I failed her class because I attended all her lecture. Thank you for teaching me NOTHING in class. I got A- in last summer with another professor.
Reads off slides. Tests are tough, exam was brutal and no bell curve. She teaches all the 8am sections for some reason. I guess shes a morning person. Youre better off studying on your own. Just know how to use the calculator like the back of your hand and you should survive. The calculator does it all.
The math concepts were not hard however, I found that the lecture notes needed to be more detailed. Crucial steps were skipped because of the expectation of just knowing how to do a step. She does care about the success of the students by providing cheat sheets during tests and bell curving your mark at the end. Just be prepared for self-teaching
This was a very hard course for me, and Nursel tried her best to explain everything. There are 3 tests and an exam to this course and she gave no reviews, unlike the other professors. She read the slides to us and did a couple of examples, however, I felt that there are better ways she could have used to better prepare us for the tests.
Really cares about her students, and is very helpful during class and office hours. For the most part focuses on the harder concepts and skims over the easy ones. Leaves time for review close to tests. Extremely funny.
her lectures are a bit boring but i mean its math, she does take attendance randomly through out the term (especially around exam time) and gives bonus marks based on attendance. She's super sweet if you go up and talk to her her exams were tough if you did not study you have to do problem questions in order to do well.
she's really nice and funny, her powerpoint slides lack explanation so you have to come to class to understand the concepts, her exams were a bit tough but she did allow cheat sheets and also know how to use a calculator well, it will help!!! she did bell curve the mark right at the end so i ended up getting a 100% for my final overall mark.
no good
i love her, nicest and most caring prof at Ryerson.
terrible prof... drop her class.
She is very confusing in class and class is a bore. Most students stop showing up to class and started going to other prof's lectures or would read the textbook because going to her lecture is useless.
The worst statistic professor in Canada. Cannot speak proper English.
She took attendance every class and at the end will bump you up if you attended often, she also tells you exactly which topics she is putting on the tests. We had no assignments, just two midterms and a final. She allows a cheat sheet, double sided so it was easy to tailor the sheet to her test since she tells you ahead of time. Never used the text
Although you are unable to understand her at times, shes still a very caring teacher and will give you the opportunity to bring your marks up. Lots of easy modules that are also a mark booster. Tests are fairly easy.
ruzgar wants her students to succeed and will go out of her way to teach you the concepts you dont understand if you make an effort
Hard to understand but cares for the success of students. Its one of those classes where you get it or you don't get it. As someone else stated, she takes attendance and uses that to boost mark at the end of term. But her lectures are very boring
Nursel was one of my favourite profs this sem, and she really cares about the success of her students. She always extends the deadline for the modules, her tests are super easy (90+) although the final exam was a bit tough, but crib sheets to the rescue! All in all, she made the class way easier than people presumed it to be.
She posts all the lecture slides and notes so there's not need to read the textbook. She also explains the material clearly and all her tests are fair.
Very caring professor who thoroughly explains concepts. Make sure to attend her lectures as there are certain things she adds on to her slides that will be valuable (the slides can be hard to understand sometimes on your own).
She is a good prof. Takes time and goes through many examples. Very clear. If you want to learn sit in the front of the lecture. If your attendence is consistent, there is a mark upgrade. There are 3 tests, very straight forward. Use mystatlab questions to study. Hard exam. Got 75, 83, 100 on the tests and a 50 on the final. Study a lot for final.
I actually loved Nursel so much, probably the best math teacher ive had in all my years of being in school. her lectures are thorough, if you can get past her thick accent, she tries to be strict but shes so chill and a great prof overall.
Covers all of the needed content that is on the tests during lectures. Allows for cheat sheet during all the QMS 102 tests. she will boost your mark if you have good attendance as it is taken every lec. She has long breaks (10-15 mins) each lec.
This professor likes to boost student marks. She is the best prof.
The most caring professor. Boosted our final grade.
The most caring professor in ryerson. She likes to help students by boosting our final grade. The greatest professor by giving u the greatest grade.
She definitely tries and does actually teach, but her slides and teaching could be done in a much more clear and straightforward way. It should also be taught in a more practical way too since the material is not easy to grasp. Tests with her are slightly annoying too since she is very particular about the facilitation and are often on Saturdays
Professor Ruzgar is a very knowledgeable professor who truly cares about the students doing well in Statistics. If you go to class, ask questions and use her as a resource for learning the material, you will have a much better shot at doing well in this course. Ruzgar is approachable and always welcomes student questions/concerns about the content.
very hard to understand what she is saying and lectures are all over the place. i end up teaching myself with the textbooks and labs because i cannot retain much of what she says. if you struggle with math switch out or be prepared to learn everything on your own
AVOID HER. Honestly this prof can barely speak a lick of english. This prof sucks so MUCH I really hope she gets fired. I would rate her a 0 but it wont let me.
Wouldn't recommend taking her. She's difficult to understand and you end up learning on your own. She doesn't give much practice examples either other then stats lab. She mentioned mark boosts if u attend class and never received it
honestly one of the best proffesors very caring and would kindly answer any question asked anyone saying opposite than that is wrong would really recommend taking her classes . also in her break time she actually gave her time to answer any question i asked.
I was very worried after reading the comments that I wouldnt be able to understand her. Her accent really isnt that bad. And shes a really great teacher. Her lecture notes are very organized, she pretty much tests what she teaches and she is very caring
Genuinely tries to help but kinda treats it like a high school class sometimes. PS. If you get her and you have to use BitBolide, check all the answers for assignments and projects if you get 0. I've gotten 0 on 2 assignments and I requested a remark for both and actually gotten 100. The program is the stupidest thing I've ever paid for.
I dont understand some of the hate for this professor. She is genuinely very nice, approachable and definitely cares for her students. The courses she teaches are obviously very dry and difficult for many to understand but thats no reason to hate an instructor. If you dont understand what she is saying, ask her in the lecture, very approachable
Nursel is acc a very sweet teacher. Its just that her accent can make it kind of hard to understand her, and the class itself is 3 hours, so it gets pretty boring. I stopped attending the classes, and I still passed with an A. Thankfully, the textbooks are given so just go over the slides and textbooks and you have nothing to worry about :) !
Nursel is an alright prof it's just that the lectures are boring and she sometimes gets mad at people for talking even though there's 500 people in the auditorium. Like it's not high school she shouldn't care. In general, the QMS 110 course was easy as it was like grade 11-12 math and Nursel didn't do a bad job-yes she had an accent but its math...
Not a horrible prof, but also not good. This course is basically gr10-12 (advanced functions) math, so if you were good in those classes, this shouldn't be anything to worry about. But, I personally feel like she didn't really teach but more so just read off slides. If I wasn't already familiar with the course content, I would've done horrible
Nursel is a solid choice for any math course. Her lectures are detailed and she takes time to answer questions from students. There were weekly quizzes that counted for 20% of the grade, so attendance is mandatory. However, she provided two opportunities during the semester to attender her office hours to take a quiz if you missed any.
Nursel is not completely to blame for how QMS110 turned out, as it is a new course. Her accent is not as difficult as people say, however the lectures are pretty boring. Not a bad professor, just very easy to lose interest in. She understands math but does not explain it very well. We also never covered much of the Excel portion worth 20%...
Nursel is not a bad person, shes just a bad teacher. The whole class would be audibly confused and would have to teach themselves, the only reason people showed up to lectures were for the quizzes. Excel was not covered properly despite being a large part of the course. She would explain the most simple concepts in the most confusing way.
Not the best prof to have for QMS but if you did adv functions in high school then you should be fine. Her accent isn't as bad but in general her classes weren't engaging. Attendance is mandatory because there's an in-class quiz almost every week which she only lets us do at the end of class. Tbh, I didn't learn anything in her class
Nice person overall, but can't teach. Also the powerpoints she gives are very hard to understand and don't flow well. If you took advanced functions it's not too bad
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF FOR QMS 442. JUST READS THE POWERPOINT WITH AN ACCENT. CLASS AVERAGE FOR FIRST TEST WAS 53%. FIRST TEST WAS NOTHING LIKE THE HOMEWORK OR LECTURE EXAMPLES. WROTE A FORMULA FOR THE FIRST TEST ON THE BOARD BEFORE THE EXAM THAT WAS NOT COVERED IN NOTES OR TEXT. SCARED TO SEE WHAT FINAL IS GOING TO BE LIKE. AVOID THIS PROF!
She is a nice person but she does not know how to teach. She would teach the simplest concept in the most unnecessarily confusing way and the PowerPoints are a mess and hard to follow. But the tests were similar to the modules we did but you're gonna have to learn the content on your own. I will say, she was very accommodating during the pandemic.
Her lectures are useless as many have a very hard time understanding her due to her thick accent.
nursel is a caring prof. she genuinely wants her students to do well. lots of in class examples that were very helpful on the midterms. she also takes attendance (not mandatory to show up) and bumps your final mark if youre consistently coming to class
Nursel is caring and always helpful. People give her a bad rep cause she has an accent and the test are hard. Personally, had her for both QMS110 & QMS210, the two courses are reasonable, but put in the effort and do the practice test.
People give her a bad rep because they can't understand statistics. Don't listen to them. Nursel actually teaches and gives various examples that help her students. I had a great learning experience with her. Just be prepared to pay for a scientific calculator and a software for the course, totaling around $150.
I took MTH310 online (tnx covid) in the spring. Her evaluations (midterms, exam) are easy - at most 1 or 2 tricky questions. But you need to teach yourself for the entire course.
I took Nursels class before covid. I personally found that I had a hard time following her lectures and ended up reading them myself, but in all honesty, shes super accommodating and a kind lady and she wants her students to succeed. She bell curves when she needs to and is great at replying to emails. A little intimidating but shes nice.
don't even bother to show up to her classes, it's useless. Just read the textbook, do the homework and you'll be good.
Thick accent so it's sometimes hard to follow, especially on zoom when she's cutting out due to her terrible internet connection. She goes through examples pretty slowly but sometimes the examples are not good choices for the concept and she has messed up her own examples on several occasions. I wound up teaching myself from the slides posted.
Difficult to understand. Her communication style is disorganized. This leads to mass confusion. Notes are unclear and she does not explain things fluidly. Exam style for QMS 110 is very unlike taking an exam in person. Do this course in person if you have the choice.
You can tell she is a kind lady who genuinely wants her students to succeed, but her lectures can be confusing at times. if you practice the problems you will do well but i didn't find her lectures particularly useful.
I didn't find her zoom lectures very helpful at all; her pace can be quite slow and is very monotone. However, she posts her powerpoint slides and lecture recordings in full, so I pretty much taught myself and used the assignments as guidance. However, the midterm tests were fair and questions seemed familiar. An A is possible with her!
Kind professor but her lectures can be disorganized and unhelpful at times.
Shes a sweet and nice professor would love to help you with homeworks and any questions if you have. Only thing was she explains fast and its hard to understand her at times.
Even though attendance was not mandatory, she made it clear at the beginning of the course that she would not be as open to helping students who did not attend class. She does not allow questions until the end of class. she also told us that only 50% of students pass her course on the first try.
Zoom calls are 1.5-3 hours long, where she reads the pre-posted PowerPoint slides. The exam was 38% of the grade and about half of the questions I had zero clue how to solve. The only good thing was the homework on MyLab - it is straightforward and worth 22% of your grade, easy 100%. Probably a great professor IRL but not fit for online learning.
She is a nice person although has a thick accent that may be hard to understand at times. If you can get past that you will do well.
Her accent is very thick, her lectures are disorganized and she gives lots of homework.
I hated this prof so much. I never went to class but if you just do the homework you can pull a good mark pretty easily.
Long boring lectures that are over-complicated since she hardly speaks English. AVOID HER!
Her lectures will bore you. Very lecture heavy, lecture lasts 3 HOURS and her voice does not help either. Not very helpful and accommodating either. If you are able to take another professor for this course, I highly suggest you do and avoid this one. the course content can be explained better by another prof.
Had her for QMS 110 and 210 and all I say is avoid her if you can. Long lectures, heavy accent, and little empathy towards students towards grading. I was able to teach myself, thus I didn't drop the course.
QMS 210 is overall a difficult course that you wanna put your best in. The profs for some reason don't do curves and if they do they wouldn't tell you, however, make sure to focus on this course and to STUDY!! Nursel is nice and she's super sweet, she had so much faith in me for the final and I surprisingly did good!!
Nursel has a very strong accent and her lectures are literally useless. You basically have to teach yourself in this course because the professors for the entire QMS 210 department are useless. The test averages were very low and she blamed us because we didn't attend the lectures, when the fact of the matter was that NO ONE UNDERSTOOD HER.
The lectures and resources provided are basically useless. The lecture material is outdated and Ruzgar makes everything more confusing than it needs to be. Make sure to learn the material if you have to be in Ruzgar's classes, as the tests are difficult, so you need to study the concepts very well to have a chance at passing.
Really bad prof does not explain well and lectures are hell.
if you take qms 210, the exams are the same and midterm, but this prof just explains so slow and her accent is hard to understand, just get somebodies notes who are really good and your good. outta all the profs, she marked the easiest on spss a lot of kids got high marks in her class, its up to you to understand this class, if you fail your stupid
Honestly she's a good prof. Gives all the slides, and is an easy marker. Yeah she might be hard to understand but that's what youtuber is for, that's what I did the whole semester lol. If you at least in her class instead of complaining, you'll do good.
The teacher is very caring and really nice but she cannot teach! her method of teaching is very confusing. She also stutters a lot which makes it awfully hard to understand her. You're better off studying on your own
Dr. Ruzgar, while being very clear and strict about her expectations, is a very considerate professor. I missed the second midterm and she allowed me to apply for an accommodation which transferred the weight toward my final exam.
First of all, I have class in the morning, at around 8 o'clock, and that too on Monday. So, it sucks when you have to drag yourself out of bed and commute an hour just to attend a lecture where just slides are read, with some work done on the slides (annotations and notes). Also, it becomes very difficult to read her writing.
Very bad lectures, barely gets thru one of them a 3hour lecture, if u get her for first year just do your hw on pearson before the exam. kinda have to teach it all yourself
Her lectures are quite hard to understand and she brushes through them quickly, it is more beneficial to just teach the content to yourself. Her exams are decent, especially the second midterm and the exam. Beware of word problems though. My labs are a decent part of her mark.
Prof doesnt reply to any emails, also the exams were unnecessary difficult and not accurate to the textbook materials provided
QMS is annoying enough as is if you don't like math. Ruzgar's lectures were long and boring, and by the third week of classes half the class stopped attending the lectures. You can tell she wants the best for her students but lectures are hard to follow and there was very minimal help throughout the course. TAs also weren't my fav. Exams were HARD.
Im so awful in math i could barely pass in grade 10. for this class I failed all midterms and the exam; the only thing that helped were the mylabs. I was prepared to fail entirely but didn't! i did study a LOT though, so if ur as bad as me you'll have to put in the work. Never went to class bc she confused me more, and Midterms/exam were rly hard.
She had a heavy accent and her exams were nothing like the lessons and the assignments. She was very strict and doesn't care about students.
Her accent isn't that bad but she's not a great public speaker. If you have adhd, good luck.. The calculator and Pearson textbook are like 200$ total
Speaks quick with poor handwriting hard to understand lectures and skips through slides faster then you can take notes. Switch classes if possible
She will teach the most simple of methods or subjects or problems in the most complicated and unnecessary ways possible. My 9th grade teacher taught and explained everything better and use the easiest and best methods.
No fault of the professor, hard course. BUT GIVES DOUBLE questions in my lab then rest of the prof very frustrating.
She's a kind person but awful prof. Her accent is hard to understand but you get used to it. She makes concepts overly difficult when needed. Most profs for QMS110 are bad I recommend taking it in summer school. You are only marked off 2 midterms, mylab, and final is worth 40%. You are better of teaching yourself than attending her lectures.
Great teacher.
She is friendly and knowledgeable but may seem more like she is reading a script than teaching. She can be unclear many times, so ask questions. The course up to the first midterm is easy, as it is basically a review from high school, but it gets much after that. Oh yeah, good luck with linear programming :)
Very bad at teaching, horrible english.
Professor has a heavy accent, lectures can be unclear at times. Material gets challenging after the first midterm. Using unstuckstudy alongside the textbook helped me prepare better for exams.
Very heavy accent and bad at speaking so understanding the course content is very difficult. Says "uhm" at least 3 times per sentance. Might as well just stay home. She is knowledgable and would be a good prof if her english was better. Choose a different prof if possible as the course itself is hard enough by itself.
She is one of the few profs that thoroughly goes through each example along with calculator commands on paper, which are then accessible after class. Her accent is definitely there, but not a problem if you are fluent in english. The notes taken in her class are especially helpful for MyLabs because it will not explain the proper calculator routes.
Her lectures feel like she's talking to herself rather than teaching. Tbh you're better off reading the slides and teaching yourself than attending her lectures. She is very unclear most of the times, hand writing is very confusing, and the way she teaches is so much more complicated than the material itself. Midterms were far from the slides!
She's really nice, actually, and the mylabs is pretty easy and forgiving. if you're naturally good at math, you don't need to attend any lectures; you'll get a good grade easily. As for her teaching skills, she has none lmao. She's not very good at explaining, has unclear handwriting, and an accent.
She's very kind and if you come up to her to ask any question she'll love to answer or even if you ask from your seat (would recommend to go for her) she can improve on her lecture slides but she does goes example step by step. You might also have to do some extra research to teach yourself a bit more
