He is not willing to meet with students outside of class (I took this course online) and wanted clarification of the syllabus. He is more worried about you getting your assignments done then learning the material. If you ask questions, he thinks you are incapable of understanding the material. I will never take him again. I passed.
I thoroughly enjoyed and benefited from this class. His teaching was largely responsible for bringing my understanding of the MIS function to a whole new level. Its fairly easy class if you work hard, also easy grader. The feedback on the final project and assignments were helpful. I really recommend taking this class with Obaid Zafar.
I really enjoyed this class, the material, and the pace. The instructor was fair, and I knew exactly what was expected at all times. The instructor gave feedback when requested and offered chances to improve your grade if there was room to do so. Read your assignments carefully, don't procrastinate, and you'll succeed in this class.
Professor Zafar had high (but achievable) expectations and was very fair in terms of grading. He was also very understanding and supportive when I had a personal issue come up. The coursework was very maintainable but he expected his students to meet deadlines and put forth their best effort. Highly recommended!
Great to have as an Instructor. He does a fantastic job providing feedback for graded assignments, and wants students to succeed. If you want to have a great experience while learning about the topic, please do yourself a favor and take a class with this professor.
Prof. Obaid was AWESOME! She really cares for her students success. She answers questions right away. The homework could be tough for excel but nothing 1 can't handle. Its worth it because you really do learn. I would HIGHLY recommend this professor, hands down! I would definitely take another class of hers.
Hello, I wanted to correct my previous post, I meant to write he is an AWESOME Professor, NOT she. Professor Obaid was kind, respectful, always answered my questions pretty quickly. He truly cares for his students and is helpful! I would definitely take another class from him.
I would definitely take a class with him. I took Fundamentals of Management Information Systems with him a few semesters back, and it was a lot of work indeed; however, it is the standard curriculum of the university, so I don't think that is his fault. I took this class online and received timely and personalized feedbacks from him.
Do yourself a favor and DO NOT take this class.
He was a great teacher and helped whenever needed. Took the course online so quick emails were a big help. He also was a reasonable grader and explain why. I would take another class from him.
This was one of the better classes I have taken, Professor Zafar has a well thought out class, that teaches team work at do it yourself learning. Plus gives great insight into the future of collaborative projects in a business environment. Thoroughly enjoyed the class!
Obaid is very on top of his work. Me and my groups homework was graded in less than a week (usually a couple days!). His grading is a little bit tough, but he provides very detailed feedback. If you take his advice, he will notice it in future work. Quizzes are easy and group projects are doable when everyone participates!
This professor gives you a manageable amount of work and keeps a very upbeat attitude. He is easy to get a hold of, responds quickly to questions and is very organized. While doing the PIR project, he gives really good feedback that I would highly recommend following as, from the impression that I got, he truly wants you to succeed in his class.
One of the best professors I have had class with since I became a student at Metro. He provides lots of feedback when needed, and will give you points if you take his feedback into consideration. I had many personal life changes which I communicated with him and he was very respectful and understanding of the situation. Would DEFINITELY take again.
The key to this class is teamwork
I have learnt a lot from Professor Obaid Zafar. His excellent materials, group work, and Individual assignments helped me understand principles of management information systems a lot. I recommend this instructor very much. I am glad I joined his class. Thank you Professor.
Obaid was a wonderful instructor. He offered opportunities to correct assignments and resubmit for grading. He explained things well and offered additional assistance as needed. Major portion of the grade is a group project. I hate group projects, but if you participate, you will be in good shape. I would recommend taking a class with Obaid.
Honestly this professor is amazing. I took with 310 online course and it was an amazing and positive experience. He lets you resubmit the assignment so that you can actually get and know how to do it correctly. The professor is an awesome teacher and he really cares for his students.
This is a great class and the professor does well to relate the material to the real world. You really are set up to succeed and you learn valuable information that will be used in many professional settings. This professor knows his stuff and runs a great class. If you dont do well in the class, it is because you didnt try.
Lots of group work, excellent feedback, understanding
The professor responded promptly to questions and I greatly appreciated the fact that he handed back assignments for corrections if people wanted extra points. The quizzes had unlimited time- so I could use my textbook effectively without pressure. The only hard thing was the group work- but that really depends on your team if they communicate.
Gives constructive feedback and allows you to fix your mistakes. He is also responsive during online course.
Obaid Zafar is a great instructor, he does a great job ensuring your success with great feedback and allowing resubmissions on some assignments. You will feel anxious initially about the amount of work but know it gets better and is very manageable, the flow of work has been designed extremely well. If you dont do well, you just didnt give effort
Professor Zafar was positive and encouraging. All the coursework is presented well, you don't second guess what you are doing, but if you do he will help any way he can. There is a lot of work, but if you stay on task you will do great and some of it was even fun! I would definitely take a class by him again, he wants everyone to succeed.
This class was great and professor Obaid Zafar makes it easier. All his assignments were clear, and he always communicated with the students. All the quizzes are were really easy and based off videos. He seriously cares for his students, and he wants everyone to do well in his class. He is highly recommended.
Professor Obaid Zafar offers positive feedback on assignments and responsive via email. Quizzes are taken from related videos provided as viewing assignments. Group assignment is required, so communication is necessary to make sure everyone is accountable for their contributions. Students are given opportunities to turn in assignments early for gra
Professor Obaid Zafar is a great professor! He knows so much about the material and teaches it in a way where it's fun to learn about and you feel connected. This class has a lot of homeowrk, but he cares for his students a lot and wants everyone do the best they can, so you can ask for help! I'd advise you to take this class with him!
Professor Zafar is a different teacher. He cares about your success and the way the class is laid out reflects this. It's very easy to get overwhelmed with what is to come in the class but it is paced very well once you get into it. He is by far the most willing teacher to help you get the most credit on assignments I've had at Metro.
Professor Zafar is such a great professor, I really recommend him for anybody who has to take MIS 310. There is a semester long group project, but I think all MIS310 courses has this requirement. He is so understanding and has very clear expectations and guidelines. As long as you follow his modules and participate in discussions you will do great!
Professor Zafar was great! I would recommend him for anybody. There is a semester long group project. He gave great feedback on assignments, even allowed my group to resubmit an assignment to get a better grade. He is understanding & has very clear expectations and guidelines. Follow the modulus & submit you stuff on time & you'll have no problem!
Very involved, he gives good feedback and even lets you resubmit your missed work.
Great professor. I would definitely recommend his online course to anyone who isnt afraid of a little work. Biggest assignment in this class is a team report. Work with your team and COMMUNICATE well and youll get the grade you deserve (likewise, screw your team over and it will reflect on your gradeso put in that work!!!).
He was great!
I took professor Obaid MIS 310 in fall 2018, He is amazing and makes you ready to land your next career. Obaid cares his students and offers extra credit to boost up their grade and always answers your questions via email when you needed. To be honest with you, I'm recommending you to take him. I wish Obaid teaches MIS 328 this spring.
Professor Zafar is amazing. I took his online class and was amazed by how well structured it was. He is passionate about the success of all of his students. There is a group project throughout the semester (which is not hard at all), but if you don't contribute to the project, it will reflect on your grade. I would recommend him to anyone.
Great professor, at first the overall assignments seemed to be challenging, but it is actually super reasonable if you have a great classmates, and on top of your stuff. Good luck.
Professor Obaid Zafar is a very knowledgeable and caring instructor. I went into the class very intimidated of the coursework, there is a lot of things to do, but he made everything very clear and if you put in the time its pretty easy. Big group project, but he is a very fair grader! I definitely recommend him, he will help you succeed!
MY MIS 310 was with Obaid Zafar. I have to admit that the first two weeks were a bit rough but as we progress, I have noticed that he was actually helping me learn more than other classes I have been in. He is very prompt with emails and I felt his support during the class. If you want to learn, this teacher is your go-to person.
It was a good class. The quizzes are fairly easy if you do your reading. The professor is a fair grader and sometimes even gives second chances to get a higher grade.
He gives clear feedback and allows second chances for assignments. There is also a semester long group project that is graded by performance and peer reviews.
Overall, professor is good. Homework is heavy, lots of screen time for an online course. Lots of cases to be read and analyzed. With project work ongoing and weekly quizzes and assignments, it becomes draining if you are taking more than 2 classes during the semester.
Overall, the class is pretty good. The pace is great. He provides good feedback and gives you the opportunity to redo some of the assignments so you can get a better grade. Follow the schedule and directions for the modules, then you should be fine.
This class was straightforward and laid out really nice. It looks overwhelming at first with the amount of tasks due, but its manageable. There is a semester long group project, the step up helps make things flow smoothly. As long as you stay on schedule you will get an A in the class. There is also extra credit offered! I would recommend Zafar.
Mr. Zafar is a professor who cares about his students and their success within his class. He provides great feedback on all assignments submitted and lets you correct your assignment for full points. Responds fast to all emails. If you do the work, you get an A.
Put in the work, show you care, and earn respect.
Clearly knowledgeable in his field. Leaves good feedback and allows students to turn in late homework and also incomplete homework as long as revisions are made and turned in within the given date. Class has a lot of homework but they are all really easy. Semester long group project will be annoying if you have bad team members but overall not bad.
Positive and helpful, just do the work and get involved!
I took Obaid for MIS 310 as an online class. To me, he is the nicer and quick response back to email that I ever had. Every time I submitted assignments and it was not quite right as he expected, he explained it more in details and gave me a chance resubmit it again for a better grade. I am strongly recommend him if you take MIS 310 online class.
I would gladly take any class taught by this teacher again. Prof. Obaid is clear in what he expects, and very responsive, as well as gives good feedback. He cares that you actually learn from the class instead of go through the motions and will give you chances to re-do the homework if you do badly the first time.
This class is going to challenge your time management skills. You must participate in your group each week. We worked a week ahead to make sure we never fell behind. Professor Zafar was responsive to email and accommodating to a pre planned out the country vacation. There is a chance for extra credit. Pay attention to the syllabus!
Obaid was an awesome instructor. There was a group project that was a large portion of your grade, however the guidelines were very clear and reasonable. I really enjoyed this class and learned a lot!!
At first, it may seem like a lot, but it really isn't. The professor is very clear on assignments. There is a paper that you will have to work on with your group members and is broken into sections. He provided a chance to revise. There are weekly quizzes, but it is unlimited time and are easy to answer. He gives really good feedback. It was an A.
Hands down one of the best professors I've had at Metro! There is a semester long group project that can be a challenge but that is only if members do not pull their weight. Gives clear expectations & deadlines. Extra credit options too! Allowed for revisions as time allowed to improve grades. If you need to take MIS310 - take with Obaid Zafar!!
It might seem time consuming at first, cause most of the work is a group project, easy quizzes and case discussion. But You will learn something by the end of the class. Very helpful, respond quickly and wants you to do better and learn something at the end.
Class is easy other than group project and that depends on how well the group work together. The quizzes, case studies, and modules are not that bad. He gives feedback and another chance to correct to get half of the missed points. I would definitely recommend him.
Obaid was a very good instructor. He was a fair if not generous grader. He gives lots of feedback and is always willing to let you make suggested adjustments to improve your grade. This is the sign of an instructor who really wants his students to learn. I normally stay away from online classes but Obaid made this one easy enough!
There is only one group project and the rest of the class is really easy, just do your work.I was traveling between States while taking this course. Easy A! if you do your work and the best part he does give you chance to redo almost any work, lots of chances to succeed!
He is one of the best professors I have incountered while taking an online class. I would take his class again. There is only one group project throughout the whole semester and you get enough time to complete and submit each portion. The group Project does require hard work, but if you and your team put in effort- You will get an EASY A!
Very specific in what he wants so READ THE FINE PRINT or he'll docked points. Group project last the whole semester. Lots of writing split up between the group. Must webcam w/ audio for points w/ group, he will dock points for it. 16 quiz every week, lots of work in group project, 4 case studies/discussions, 5 excelcess homework. USE SKYPE!!!
Professor Zafar was the best online professor's I have ever had! The first week he sent an individiual email to each one of us introducing himself and letting us know that he was happy to have us in his class. He is very thorough and provides detailed instructions on how to succeed in his class. He wants you to do well so just follow his guidance!
I took MIS310 online with Professor Zafar. He is a fair grader and the class assignments were clear. The class was a hard class to take. There is a semester long group project that requires you to interview an IT professional. (this is required for all mis310 classes) Do the work as stated and you will do fine! I made a 100 in the class.
I had taken this class before and didnt do well because the course load is heavy. Theres a group project worth a lot of your grade and the first time around I missed a few assignments to get that project done. Professor Zafar had the best reviews so I retook the class with him. He was great at always giving feedback and responding to emails.
Assignments are broken down into five sections PIR, tutorials, admins, quizzes, and case studies. Quizzes are every week. The professor is very understanding and usually takes a day to respond. He is very knowledgeable on the material as well. There is a group project, the PIR, that occurs the whole duration of the course.
Professor Zafar did a great job outlining and letting our class know what is expected and what needs to be done throughout the semester. He was very helpful and respectful of the situation and pandemic. He adjusted the schedule and workload to accommodate for the time we missed. Amazing professor and I highly recommend him for your MIS endeavors.
Instructor was very clear about what needed to be completed and by when. He is lenient on grading and was easy to get a hold of and very responsive. I found the class thoroughly enjoyable as instructor was able to make real life connections that made sense to me. This was a retake for the course, I failed the first time as it was very test heavy.
Straight forward in an eye opening class. Extremely responsive and provides intricate feedback with chances to improve. Some extra credit here and there. Overall, would take his classes without thinking about it twice.
This is my first time taking a completely online class and I enjoyed it. The professor was very clear on all the assignment instructions. I was able to follow his course schedule and completed all my assignment on time. He is very responsive and helpful when you need to get a hold of him. I would highly recommend to this to anyone.
Professor Zafar does give good feedback on papers/projects. The course requires a group project can be done fairly well with a good group. Make sure you note what is happening in your group and let the professor know, this will keep things fair. The course was easy, things were outlined when due and how to do etc. Good course to take.
Great teacher. Very knowledgeable and provides clear expectations on the first day of class. Quick response time to questions or emails and probably the fastest grader I've ever seen. In response to some of the negative reviews on here, A's are not hand-outs, they are earned. If you put in the work, you will get an A, and if you don't, you won't
Homework is the usual, weekly quizzes are a breeze and everything is spelled out in detail in the syllabus and he's easily accessible by email. Part of this course is being in a semester-long PIR group project for which you will have to use Zoom. Overall, a fantastic professor who will make you appreciate technology want to learn more about IT.
Professor Zafar was one of the most helpful teachers Ive had. Everything was clearly laid out from the beginning what was expected and if you had questions he gave very timely thought out answers. There is a big group project that is time consuming but fairly easy to complete, also offers EC and tests are fairly easy! I would recommend him!
Great professor! Responds fast and efficiently, course work are a decent amount and all very easy and doable if you stay on track! Easy and lenient instructor. Grading rubric are clear and simple. Instructor provides feedback on some assignments with option to fix and re-submit for full credits.
Obaid is really awesome. You can tell he tries to be as engaged as possible with his students even though it's an online class. Term-long group project/paper that's about 4 sections with 5-8 pages per section, but it's easily split among group members. Be prepared to interview IT professionals. Would have loved to have an in-person class with him.
This class might be homework heavy however Professor Zafar scheduling is top notch and gives you a lot of time to complete your work in a very digestible manner. Also the professor gives his student very thoughtful feedback on your assignment and doesn't just give you a bad grade with no comment. Overall if you focus in this class, you will do fine
Professor Obaid is very specific about his assignments, he's helpful and reasonable about his scores. I believe he gives each student an opportunity to help their grades by giving us another chance to correct our assignments and get a better score. The only thing that was off was late response to emails, I don't blame him, it's still the pandemic.
Professor Obaid is very lenient in allowing extra credit, but it just requires students to participate and look out for the announcements. He provides strong feedback in group projects and assignments; even going as far as allowing groups to re-submit assignments for a better grade. I would definitely recommend his class for students.
This class was challenging but be prepared to learn a lot. The weekly assignments, readings, and quizzes are easy, but that was without the group assignments. There was a group project that ran throughout most of the semester, it involved 5 papers and 1 power point. Professor is available to answer questions via email. He gave good feedback!!
Professor Obaid is an amazing professor. Anyone wants to take MIS 370, then I would say take him. He will help you and guide you if you are stuck with your assignments.
Professed Obaid Zafar cared about the students from early on and throughout the rest of the course. He made the textbook available for students that didnt get their books on time. He also made sure that we complete individual and group projects and even went out of his way to host non scheduled live webinars. Grading was also on point and clear.
Instructor Obaid was flexible as well as reasonable. As long as you do the assignments on time, and to the best of your ability, he will give you a fair grade.
Understanding, fair, and offered up solid feedback on assignments.
I was super nervous about this class going in but I have to say it was super easy to be successful in this class. There are opportunities to redo assignments if you struggle and you are able to turn in assignments late for some credit. It is definitely a group project based class so be prepared to work hard in that regard.
There is a semester-long group project for this class. It was a lot of work, but if you do the work, you will be successful. Obaid provided great feedback on all the assignments and allowed revision and resubmission of work for better grades. Initially, I was nervous taking this course but it turned out to be one of my favorite classes.
Truly thought it would be a difficult class but it was not. Yes, there was a lot of homework and quizzes but they are all fairly easy. There was a semester long group project, which was also easy however it does need a lot of work and his grading criteria for it guides you through it. Definitely recommend anyone to take this course.
Great Professor!! I would recommend taking MIS310 with him. Make sure you get a good group for the project, stay on top of the classwork and you Will get an A. Learned a lot and I am going to take his courses going forward.
Group projects and participation is important. Professor response in a timely fashion and is understanding. Grades fairly and is an easy A course if you do all of your work on time. Communication is key to success, make sure to ask questions or for clarification when needed. GL!
The professor for this course was amazing! He provided clear instructions for all assignments, was readily available for questions and feedback, and their grading criteria for the group project were extremely helpful. I highly recommend taking a class with this professor if given the opportunity.
I took professor Zafar for MIS 310 and it made learning about MIS a little bit easier and more digestable. He had weekly quizzes and would have videos available to better understand the material. Theres a group project throughout the whole semester and he has a system in place that helps choose good team members. I recommend this class 10/10
Professor Obaid is an awesome professor. He truly cares about his students and the success that they have. There's a big group project at the end, along with a few assignments and quizzes. Obaid gives you a taste of what an actual working environment is like and gives great criticism along the way. Would highly recommend if you were looking at 370.
Professor Zafar is a good instructor. He is prompt to respond, goes in depth about requirements, and offers some extra credit. Stay on top of the course work and put in effort and you will do well.
Excellent professor. Made class interesting and enjoyable. Was always there to answer questions and give guidance on assignments.
Good professor! The assignment expectations were always very clearly outlined, and he provided great feedback too. We had a semester long group project, worth 44% of the total grade. Make sure you don't do this poorly and actually put in effort as it will be graded on individual participation!
Professor Zafar was good at responding in a timely way to student questions. The majority of the class is based on a group project. Make sure to organize your first meeting right away to get extra points. Expect to have 4 interview sessions (about 1-1 1/2 hours each) with your chosen IT professional. All of the assignments require lots of writing.
Professor Zafar runs a well-structured class. The group project is extensive but manageable with effort. Utilize Unstuck AI and the textbook to supplement the lectures - a winning combo for success in this course.
You will be assigned a semester long group project. Heavily reliant on the participation rate of your team members. DO NOT sign yourself up to do your project on your IT Professional - you will likely be responsible for all communications & take on a heavy amount of the workload throughout the project. Only took the course because I had to.
Professor Zafar is an amazing professor. The class consists of quizzes, discussions, and assignments. There is also a semester long group project but it is honestly easy. Overall, as long as you do your assignments you will pass. It's hard to fail. I definitely recommend this professor and would take him again if given the opportunity to do so.
Great professor! He set clear expectations and structured the class so students could succeed if they put in the effort. Includes quizzes, SAP assignments, discussion posts, and a group project. We had group issues, but the professor handled it fairly and made sure grades reflected individual contributions. Definitely recommend this professor!
The professor's really nice and grades pretty fairly. His videos are a lot of fun to watch. If you do the work, getting an A is a breeze. I'd sign up for his class again in a heartbeat.
As long as you finish your homework on time, you pass the class
The course was well-organized, the schedule was clear, and the material was presented in a way that made it easy to follow and learn from. I would gladly take another course with you in the future.
Professor Zafar is a great instructor! The class mainly consists of assignments, quizzes, and a couple of discussions. There's a semester-long group paper, but it's fairly easy and manageable. He's organized, clear with expectations, and overall makes the course easy to follow. I'd definitely take him again!
The schedule was clear, the course was well-structured and mainly consisted of quizzes, assignments, and discussion posts, and the content was delivered in an approachable manner that made learning simple. Also, a group project towards the end of the semester that was manageable, In the future, I would be happy to enroll in another course with you.
The course was structured very clearly, the group project was easy and manageable in the end. Any SAP issues I had were solved during our zoom meetings by our amazing professors! Extra credit opportunity is available in the end of the semester and it's very easy to complete. Over all would take another class with the professor.
This was a really good class. The professor explained things in a simple and clear way, which made it easy to follow. There is a group project, but if you participate and do your part, you'll be fine. Overall, the class was well-organized and the professor was helpful.I would recommend this class to others.
The professor demonstrates strong professional abilities, presenting material in a clear and organized manner. Their teaching style is engaging and structured, making complex topics easier to understand. They encourage participation and provide helpful examples that reinforce learning.
Very organized and well-laid lectures and assignment. I love how clear and straightforward the Professor is. As long as you show up in meeting and do your work early, you will have time to revise and ask questions for the assignments and projects. Everything is on the course schedule, be present and you will get an A easily.
He was always willing to answer questions when needed. The class structure was a bit confusing - but I don't think he is the one who made the curriculum for the class. Overall a well educated professor who cares about his students success.
Excellent instructor!! He gives you what you put into the class. If you show up to lectures and complete your work, he's more than willing to help you after and outside of class. He gives great feedback on assignments and really helps you learn. Would definitely take a class from again!
He is a great professor while teaching Management of Information Systems. The workload was huge, but he gave clear instructions and extremely helpful feedback. The big group project helped develop teamwork skills. All the contents helped you understand the necessary skills needed in the real-life cooperate world.
Professor Zafar was okay. He doesn't typically respond in a timely manner and when he does, he doesn't really provide much help. The one nice thing about his class was that there were multiple opportunities to re-do your assignments for a better grade.
