He's very easy, but he acts like he's doing you a favor by coming to class. Is rude and and talks about himself alot.
He made statistics easy. It's hard to understand him sometimes (has a thick accent that he admits he refuses to lose), and he can be rude to rude students. So, just be nice and do your work and you'll do fine. Don't be late; he hates that.
I'm not surprised to see that 14 years after I took classes with this guy when he was teaching in NY, he still treats students rudely and barely manages to teach anything. Is he still telling that lame story about how he had to take a break from his doctoral studies to play tennis? I pity you all.
Dr Ebbe is a very easy professor. The tests and quizzes are very easy to pass. Now the class can get boring at some times, just go to sleep but anyone can make a easy a or b in the class..He does have an accent but otherwise, take it to make ur gpa increase !!
He is a very easy teacher. All the tests come from notes off blackboard. DON'T be late to class he hates that. All and all he is a good teacher.
This guy is insane. He told our class that when he was in the army God told him when to attack the enemy and that Satanists are kidnapping all of the kids we find on the back of milk cartons for the purposes of human sacrifices. I am completely serious; not making this up.

This teacher is from Nigeria and you cannot understand a word he says except every now and again you hear a yea and a no. I did okay on the tests and quizes and came out with a B in the class.
I sat in the back, and I would sleep or read the echo everyday in class because it was so boring, but I still got an A because Ebbe is the man!
He is from Nigeria which makes him hard to understand. However, he puts everything on blackboard, including a study guide, which makes studying very easy. I got an a in the class and read 2 books during his lectures.

He doesn't like it when you ask questions,and doesn't like to listen to you however he wants you to listen to his story of how his dad had 3 wives and 3 houses and blah blah blah!as far as work goes he puts that stuff on blackboard. His quizzes are similar to the notes. boring? yes, but you'll pass.
Prof. Ebbe is a great man with a lot to offer to his students. The only thing is that is unclear about him is his accent, however as long as you study the material you will make either A's or B's.
THE TESTS ARE SIMPLE AND THE QUIZZES ARE EASY. EVEN IF U DONT COME TO CLASS, JUST READ THE POWERPOINTS THAT HE PUTS ON BLACKBOARD TAND THERE IS NO WAY YOU WILL FAIL !!EVERYONE THAT TOOK THIS CLASS WITH ME PASSED UNLESS U ARE JUST PLAIN OLE STUPID. EASY TO MAKE AN A IN HIS CLASS !!
Easy class, all quizzes and tests are multiple choice. Sometimes he can be really random and he doesn't really go by the book, don't buy it! Easy grade for a little work!
His accent is hard to understand. He has a silly but endearing personallity. Puts his notes on Blackboard and gives 2 quizes and 2 tests that are MC. Don't buy the book. I took him during the summer and he was an easy A.

Mr. Ebbe has alot of sound wisdom and if you listen you can gain alot from him. He has a thick accent from Nigeria that I think only makes the class more interesting when talking about Sociology. One of my best professors by far!
He is not very helpful and that makes this class really hard.
Ebbe is unwilling to work with students with disabilities. He is narrow minded about people who are not "normal". He does not treat SWD like people and he is rude. He also goes off on tangents about gay people and other people who he considers abnormal and talks about how they give him headaches. He may give study guides for the tests, but if you are in the class and he asks a question you don't know he makes fun of you.
I don't know what the person below is talking about. Dr. Ebbe is a great teacher and funny as well. Yes he may go off on tangents but, what prof. doesn't? All of his notes are on blackboard as well as lectures. As for SWD he DOES treat them like people but unfortunately, some will use their disability as an excuse to miss class.
A very wise man whose experience is definitely something a student can value. His thick Nigerian accent has the unique ability of requiring a student to pay better attention. You can learn a great deal from Dr Ebbe.
There has never been a class this easy!!! he gives two test and quizzes...both of which he gives an outline. Basically all you have to do is go to class, i take my computer and play during class-but i have yet to fail a test!! It' wonderful and an easy A!!!

Ebbe is so much fun! It takes awhile to understand his accent, but once you do the class is awesome. I found I didn't really need the book that much, nor did I need to go to class all the time. He's a real outgoing guy and very nice. He's the kind of professor that says hi to you in the hall after the semester is over. I would recommend him.
Do the work. Ask questions and he will explain everything. Snoozed through the class. Entertaining too.
Summer classes must be different-- you really had to read the book to do well on the tests. Study hard! He likes to make his multiple choice tests hard by giving you extremely similar choices for a question. But, oh, well, I still made an A for the course! He likes to go on tangents a lot, but that is what makes the class so intersting!
Ebbe is the man! This class is so much fun to take. Easy tests and quizzes and he gives chances for extra credit too. Once you get past his Nigerian accent, you can understand everything just fine. Great teacher in general. No need for the book. Lectures come off Blackboard. Easy A!
Ebbe is a very funny guy,he has a joke to tell almost everyday.He is a good teacher,although it may take you a while to get use to his thick accent.His test are not that hard as long as you take notes and do a little bit of reading.I came out with a high C.
He is the worse professor in the department. His test aren't clear. He doesn't really go over the subject. His lecture notes and book us useless. When you get your studyguides/test you get confused because its nothing hes gone over in class. You don't learn anything from him. He has yelled at his class for no reason.
One of the easiest professors at UTC. I wish I would have just saved my money and never bought the book. All his notes are posted to Blackboard. Lecture was a huge waste of time but they were quite entertaining. He was usually never on topic, straying to subjects such as sex, his dad's multiple wives, why the USA sucks, why pot is bad for you, etc.
He is very difficult to understand. I found him too intimidating to ask questions. He puts people on the spot then laughs at them when they don't know the answer. He yells if you take notes while he's writing. I had to hold back tears once. Grading scale was VERY rough. He's very arrogant. He's better suited for writing a textbook than teaching.
Dr. Ebbe is difficult to get used to. He comes off as rude, but I don't think he means to be. He got better as the class went along. The only complaint I had was he insisted we not take notes while he wrote on the board, and would yell if you had your pencil in your hand. It made it harder for me to learn this way.
Absolutely wonderful. Very friendly but you must be bold, like him. A delight in the classroom. Kinda old school and stuck in his ways but very fun and informative. I would take his class if i were you.

He has assigned seats, once told a guy who had just been in a car accident that he wasn/'t allowed to take his seat because he doesn/'t tolerate tardiness, and generally disrespects students. Formal complaints have been lodged. Don/'t take him if you can help it.
Bad teacher... Embarasses students if they come in late or do not know the answer. His accent is VERY hard to understand. I don't see how this guy is still teaching. We never used our book so don't bother buying it. If you have to take him, just get a seat in the corner and try to stay quiet so you won't get embarassed. His quizes are fairly easy
Great teacher, may not be for everyone though..
He will humiliate students who are more than 5 minutes late. This is particularly true at the beginning of the semester. Stick with him, though. He eases up a lot. If you adhere to his attendance policy, he is very willing to work with you if you have a border-line grade. He is very loud, so you're never in danger of falling asleep.
He is a nice guy but talks with a heavy accent so it's very difficult to understand him. You don't use the book very much. I only had only two 20 point quizes and two 100 point test and he does some extra credit.
Dr. Ebbe is a really nice and genuine professor. He puts all notes on Blackboard. There are 2 quizzes, 2 tests, a 3-5pg term paper, and a presentation. Super-easy "A" and GPA booster. He does have a thick accent but he does enunciate very well. Speak your mind and you'll get by just fine.
Ebbe forces students to pay attention with his loud voice, offhand remarks, and intense personality. Once you figure out his rhythm, it's easy to get into and although he pushes students, chastises them for tardiness, all in all, I think he really wants his students to learn the material. Gives great applications for the material too.
Take him. Just don't be late to class. But didn't have a single test with an essay question.
He seems like a nice guy, but his ego is through the roof of the 4 floor Brock building. He thinks too highly of himself and we have to use his book for our paper. He also claims to know so much about the law and the students are gullible enough to believe him where in fact, he misquotes the law most of the time. Horrible teacher. BIG BIG EGO!
TAKE THIS CLASS! Ebbe gives you two tests and two quizzes. The day before the test he has a study guide in which he tells you EVERYTHING you need to know. This class is seriously the easiest thing I have ever taken. He has a thick accent but he's a nice man. I never bought the book and ended up with a high A. JUST DONT be LATE!
Easy class. Honestly the only reason to attend is to be counted for role on the off chance he does it. Gives most of material he covers online. If you're late however, don't show up. Likes to tell stories, ask about his military experience.
LOVED Ebbe!!!! I had him at SUNY Brockport for a CRJ class and his stories using "Jim and Angie Jones" as characters was fantastic!! One of the best summer classes I ever took!

Super easy class; ridiculous curves on tests. Used the book once for an extra credit assignment, and used the glossary to study test terms. All his lectures are on blackboard, but you're only allowed 5 absences. Not that helpful outside of class, but the class is easy anyways. Very hard to understand at times (Nigerian), but has some cool stories.
Very easy if you can understand him... Loves rambling and telling stories. He's really good about allowing you to retake low test grades. DO NOT SHOW UP LATE! He'll make you leave. Don't buy the textbook. You will barely use it, if at all. Although he's really scatter brained I still recommend taking him! It's never a boring day in Ebbe's class! :)
Easiset teachers you could ever take! If your thinking of taking him I'd also Google Gaurdian Angels Mystic center (gamc) before you take him.
I am probably the only one that thinks hes not REALLY EASY. He is easy but not like everyone says to me. I did learn blackboard helps. Dont read the book its a waste of time. SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND!!!! He is Nigerian and he slurs. OVERALL.. hes a very nice man and is concerned
I would not recommend this teacher. Not only is he difficult to understand but he is very unapproachable, will laugh if you ask a question and is rude to his students. The class is fairly easy just do a study guide with multiple pages of terms, which takes forever, and take a multiple choice test. Very unclear though and does not use black board.
EBBE! He definitely has a strong accent but you learn to listen closely. He is a character. He will laugh in your face if you ask a question that he feels you should know but is willing to help you understand the material. I thought this Stats would be really hard but he put it in a way that I understood. Do not come late to class..you wonget in!
I did not like Professor Ebbe at all. The class was less about sociology and more about his personal life. He wasn't easy to understand either. However, the class is pretty easy. If you are interested in taking a nap in class and getting an A regardless, I think that this class would be right for you.
Show up to class and its an easy A. Yes, he has an accent,which helps you pay attention. The textbook was not really used ever, unless he would randomly ask students to pull it out to look at some photos. All in all, great class and Obie is always cheerful.
I am taking professor Ebbe for a summer social statistics class. This statistics class is a nightmare. I cannot understand him due to his accent. He also often asks us to work problems before he explains how to work them. When we ask questions, he gets frustrated often. If you are not a "math person" I would not recommend this professor.
I took his summer stats and it was awful. He gets easily frustrated and he's not a good teacher. I got a B but didn't learn anything.
Took him for stat. I thought he was mean. He tries to make you look stupid and laughs in you face if you ask a question that he thinks is stupid. Pretty easy grader.
Dr. Ebbe is a pretty fun guy. All of his lectures are online, and he puts a study guide up for all quizzes and tests. He rarely takes attendance. His accent does make him hard to understand, but like I said everything is online. Super easy class!

if you can get past his accent, ebbe is a wonderful teacher. i found the class fascinating. he has lots of knowledge and life experience. pay attention and take good notes(all lectures posted)and youll do great. other reviews sound 300x worse than it actually is. nothing scary, just be on time.
Literally could not understand half the things he was saying. Good thing he uses powerpoints so you can read the notes. Made a B+ but did not learn a thing. Do not recommend for Intro to Soc.
I dropped his stats class. If you have to take stats take it with Pell.
I agree Dr. Pell is the one to take for stats. I could barely understand a word Ebbe said and he talks very fast. He also made fun of students if they didn't understand something. I ended up dropping the class.

Dr. Ebbe is a very intelligent man and has accomplished a lot, but he really is lacking in teaching skills. His accent is difficult to understand, but even more than that, he gets completely off topic and rants in class. His lectures jump around and his notes are not clear. He spends more time taking attendance and criticizing people than teaching.
Ebbe is great. He is intimidating to some students, and he gets a kick out of it. Ebbe is hilarious. He is wild and animated, making it impossible to not pay attention in class. Strict attendance policy and his accent is sometimes hard to understand. However, Ebbe's classes are fun and a great experience. You'll definitely have a story to tell!
Ebbe is the worst professor I have had at UTC. You can't understand a word he says and when you ask him to repeat what he says, he yells at you and assumes you weren't paying attention. He doesn't help with questions. He is smart, but he doesn't know how to teach. Aviod him at all costs.
His teaching skills are horrible. Class is semi easy, have to pay close attention! He does give some help but he is rude & does not know how to talk to students. Did not need the book really. Can create learning barriers for most students from heavy accent. He is a good man but did not like him as a teacher.
Dr. Obi ebbe is a cool guy and a really easy professor. I took him for the summer semester for social statistics. I found this class incredibly easy if you just take notes. He lets you take open note tests that are a breeze IF you FOCUS in class. I cannot imagine taking social stats over a whole semester, it would have been so boring.
He's very unclear. A lot of the time he goes on rants about random topics--he gets off topic a lot, and has progressively gotten more off topic as the year has gone on. We have very few grades in this class, but his tests are easy. I'd say it's an easy A as long as you study the outlines he gives you online.

He was always really rude and condescending to my class. He had a tough time staying on topic. He would discuss how women belong in the kitchen, then go back to talking about Karl Marx. His lectures often had nothing to do with what he actually talked about in class.
Professor Ebbe has a very thick African accent, he kind of sounds like Rafiki from the Lion King. He tells you to buy the book but I never once used my book. the tests aren't even over the chapters in the book. He is not helpful when asked questions, he never talks about what he is supposed to, and the tests are really hard. Avoid him if you can.
There were only two quizzes and two tests and one activity in all. Apparently if you miss four times you will receive an F so go to class. He gives study guides and the material is pretty easy so the test weren't that difficult to me. Do not buy the book you just look at its pictures. It only came in handy when I could not find a definition.
I took Dr. Ebbe this summer for Social Stats. He was one the best math professors I have ever had. You have to pay attention and take notes but he literally spoon feeds you the information so just try. My 3 friends and I all made A's so its more than possible. I would definitely take him again. btw open note tests saved my life!!

If you show up to class and take notes this is an easy A. He lets you use all your notes and your book on quizzes and tests. He's from Africa so sometimes he acts a little odd by American standards, but he's a nice guy. Don't take him too seriously. Seriously one of the easiest classes I've ever taken.

Im currently taking him for the second time for a different course. I get why there are negative reviews, he can come off as arrogant. He does go completely off topic and talks about himself a lot. That being said, he is pretty damn interesting. Hes like that hilarious smartass grandpa some love and some hate. I 100% recommend if youre patient.

Professor Ebbe has a sense of humor but it's hard to pick up sometimes. He'll start talking about one topic and before you know it he's talking about his childhood. Attendance is mandatory and if you're not comfortable with presenting in front of class then tough luck.

Dr. Ebbe wasnt as bad as everyone let on. He was a really great guy, and I learned a lot in the class. He is very clear about what is expected, but he doesnt like to be challenged. I enjoyed the class overall. People just need to get off his back and understand he comes from a different culture.

Pro. Ebbe is excellent. He knows exactly what he is talking about and professes well. He makes the class idiot proof and puts onus onto the student on how bad they want the grade.
One of the worst professors that I have taken at UTC. Cant work the technology, doesnt answer emails and for some reason he stopped me in the hall and gave me an option of retaking an exam so I could do better. He didnt announce that option to any of the other students in class. That seemed unfair to me.
This professor was not professional or supportive of students he mocked and made fun of students for not knowing an answer or having anxiety about public speaking.
In class w/ him in approx 1992 when at SUNY Brockport in NYS. He's a good individual and was fair with students and grading. He wrote a grad sch reference for me & I wrote one for him for a doctorate program. I learned a lot about different cultures with him. Lost contact over the years. Hope he's well. Would definitely take another class with him!
