New teacher! helpful but hard to get good grade. too much things to study.

She was a great instructor overall. Just make sure to attend every class meeting, take notes, reading the handouts as well as the book.

Prof. Collins was enthusiastic and fun to learn from. I like how she plays music at the beginning of each class and always checks in with her students. She was extremely helpful and approachable. I would recommend her for any history class.

Professor Collins is so engaging. I usually get bored with lecture professors, BUT she is so passionate and takes the time to make sure the students are understandings. I love her use of power points, MAPS, she loves Maps and blackboard. I am purposely taking Calif. History in the fall JUST to take her class again.

She is a really nice professor willing to help students in any possible way. Her passion for History is what makes the class more interesting. Exams are really straight forward and if you study her study guides you will aced the exams.

Professor Collins is a fantastic. Her lectures are engrossing--she tells history as a series of fascinating stories with powerful visual aid from Powerpoint. You'll almost wish class was longer. She's fair--if you're willing to put the work in to get the grade, she'll help you. Slack off and you can expect to receive a failing grade.

This is my SECOND time taking Prof. Collins for a History Class and I wish she taught more. She is a great lecture teacher and her syllabus is spot on. She doesn't pull any tricks and makes YOU want to learn more. I had so much fun learning about California history this semester, all of her teachings are engaging and she inspires her students.

This was my second semester with Professor Collins. She's an amazing teacher who gives engrossing lectures. If you want a good grade you need to work for it. If you put in the work, she'll go out on a limb to help you. Best history teacher in the department.

Okay she's a great teacher but you really have to pay attention in class during ppt's or else you wont do good on exams. The're like 2 of them + final and they are kinda long but if you study the terms you should be good. Only one paper and it's due at the end of semester. You don't need the book well only for the paper but you could go on wo one.

She is one of the best professors out there. You can tell she loves what she does and her students. She is very helpful and understanding. Lectures are long but in-class activities are fun and homework wasn't crazy. Over all, great professor would recommend!!

Can't skip class man. Show up, pay attention, do her EASY in-class assignments. Homework is easy. Tests and quizzes are easy. Everything is out of the book and her lectures on PowerPoint. The majority of the time she allows ONE page of handwritten notes. Allows late work for partial credit. Extra credit only appeared once.

Very easy class and I actually learned a lot. Print out the PowerPoint, show up to class, and take notes. You have to be a special kind of stupid to fail her class.

Outstanding lectures! Although there were a lot of lectures, she covers the material well and in-depth, she does not get side tracked. She incorporates technology with the homework. They homework assignments were every week and extremely easy. She allowed a page of notes for each test and the final - the final was not accumulative. I Recommend her!

One of the most passionate professors I've had. Very lecture heavy, but she teaches in a way where it doesn't seem boring. Always allows a page of notes for exams-front and back and final wasn't accumulative, which was awesome. Homework and term paper were pretty easy and always graded fairly as long as you tried.

Professor Collins literally changed my entire experience at our college. She inspired me to not only change my major but also my profession. She also influenced me to become a active member of the student body and clubs on campus. I have now taken her for all of my history courses and I am looking forward to working with her in the future.

I had Professor Collins for both History 17 18 & World II. She is an Amazing person and very knowledgeable about History. I am a history major & she taught me a certain time in history I was not interested in and now I have nothing but love for that time in history. If you don't like History you will after taking her class. Be there or be square :)

Her lectures are clear and easy to understand. Very knowledgeable about history and answers any questions. I wasn't the biggest fan of history but after I took her class I absolutely love it.

Collins is an awesome professor. She basically lectures all class but she makes it interesting. The tests are super easy as she lets you use a full page cheat sheet. Just take the time to make a good one and you will ace the tests. You can pass this class with an A and not really learn anything so that part is up to you. Didn't open my book at all.

Prof Collins is easily one of the best professors I have had at COD. Very easy to achieve an A if you put the few hours in per week. Lots of opportunity for extra credit, cheat sheet for tests, no reason you shouldn't get an A in this class. Her love for history shows during her lectures.4 tests and no cumulative final! Personally, I am taking her for history 17 and history 21. She's such an amazing professor, and her lectures are really inspirational. If I had another history class to take I would take it with her. She will help you if you have any questions.

Great teacher, and easy grader. Allows cheat sheet on all exams and notes and book on her quizzes. You could probably get by without the book if you didn't want to get it.

Class is very easy as long as you show up for the participation assignments and follow the lectures. Few quizzes and homework every week, all topical to what your learning. One of the BEST professors that I've had.

Had professor Collins during the summer, she was awesome! She goes over a lot of material but she explains and is open to questions. No homework but do expect you to read chapters and have a quiz weekly but it's open notes open book. Midterm and final 1pg of hand written notes only. Take her she's good. Do your work you'll be fine oh and study.

I can't even describe how amazing Prof. Collins is. Indeed, I took Hist 17, 18 and California History with her and I had so much because her lectures are very informative. She truly cares about History and about her students because she gives all the material to pass her classes. Nothing better that someone who summarizes information for you!!

You get to use a cheat sheet (front and back) on all tests (which makes them extremely easy) as well as all of your notes on quizzes. I bought the textbook but never even touched it; I showed up to class with the power points printed (as she recommends), listened to the lectures and wrote some stuff down, and easily grasped the content. Super easy!

I just love Professor Collins. I've taken 2 of her classes now. She gives such good, passionate lectures and really gets her students to care about history. Plus, exams and quizzes contain material she covers during the very in-depth during lectures, so while you should have the book just in case, I barely opened mine.

Took over summer course, first time online due to coronavirus. She was more hard online than in person as I have taken her previously. She's still awesome, but way too much work. She has fun but long lectures, and they are important if you want to pass the class, as she gives lots of extra information. Definitely makes you work for your grade...

Awesome professor ! All you need to pass this class are her PowerPoints ! Take good notes of the power Point because her tests are based off them . Although textbook is required . I did not buy or use textbook at all during her entire class ! Like I said her PowerPoints have it all. I do recommend paying attention to them. Shes a cool professor!

She was awesome . Yes lectures are long but honestly that shouldnt be something to complain about considering all her test are open book and she gives you a clear study guide of quiz . Theres no way you wont get an A in this class unless youre too lazy to put in a couples hours to right down study guide from PowerPoint . Shes honestly amazing

Professor Collins is hands down the best professor. Her mid-term/final are based on the quizzes that were given previously. All the answers for both quizzes and final are from the power points. I've taken her for History 17,18, and 21. I will always recommend Professor Collins.

I took this class during the summer which was super fast paced. Homework was not to bad and we only had one essay to do which was our research.. Study her slides it will help you pass the class and read the chapters. 4 quizzes, 1 midterm, the final exam, and weekly discussions. that's her grading.

Professor Collins is an extraordinary professor. I took her HIST 021 class last semester and her HIST 018 class this semester. Her class is very easy going and you learn so much from her. Very detailed in her lectures but also gets straight to the point on the importance of everything. First time I ever enjoyed a history class in my life.

Very easy online class. I was nervous about taking classes online but after taking this class it gave me confidence. I wasnt to fond that her midterm was worth so much compared to her final but overall I would definitely recommend her.

I took both History 17 and 18 in the summer last year and it was pretty easy. Lots of quizzes but they're based on the lectures. For class, she required a biographical or research paper depending on which class you take.

This class was a 6 week class and went by so fast. Prof. Collins is amazing, she isn't a tough grader and emails back very quick. Class consisted of quizzes, midterm, final, youtube videos, essay, and reading. I would recommend taking Fall or Spring since summer is very fast paced. She's very nice. If you need history, take it with Prof. Collins!

This class went by so fast, Easy A. At first it did seem a little difficult but once you get into the class and understand her way of teaching it becomes easier.

I enjoyed being in her class. She wouldn't mind if I would come in a little late. Most of her extra credit is going to a museum and writing a short essay about it along with a picture of you there. Which I really liked.

Took her class my freshman year. Had lots of opportunities for an A. If you are the type of person who doesn't like to do work, this professor is the way to go. Even if you don't read the source material too hard, you could still get away with a high C or a low B. This professor understands when you've been through something tough.

I took Professor Collins' History 17 online this past winter and really enjoyed her class. It's easy as long as you read your textbook and review her study guides for quizzes and exams. She also shows videos that you need to summarize, pretty easy, I passed with an A. I would take her again.

I took her class Fall 2022. It was very easy she gives you guys a cheat sheet to use on exams. Her lectures consist of slides. It can be boring, but the slides are useful. Basic wrote the slideshow info on my cheat sheet. I could've got an A but I didn't go to class a lot lol.

One of my best teachers! She will always be there to help you if you have any questions. Gives a lot of extra credits. In the last exam, she makes you choose if you want to present or take the exam. Her class is very easy, you can use only one sheet of notes in exams.

Amazing teacher that always have a smile on her face. Class is easy (mostly lectures), and some of the assignments include quizzes which are easy. Then you have the map quiz and the 4 exams in which you could bring a one paper written study guide with you.

This was my first semester and all I can say is that Prof. Collins is great! We had to watch youtube lectures (made by her), we either did a discussion assignment or a text entry assignment, and of course one quiz every week. The quizzes are easy and all answer are in the textbook and lectures. There were only 2 exams; midterm and final.

Very fair teacher. Just communicate of you ever need to miss class, she is big on communication. You can use a sheet of paper with notes on tests. Veryyyyy lecture heavy and can get a bit boring at times, but overall great teacher. Defiantly passionate! You have to put in effort, but if you do, you will easily pass. Not much homework ever!!

Take her for sure. I took her class for the winter semester, and it was light work. There wasn't many assignments due a week which I liked. There was like 4 quizzes, a midterm and final. Not too bad. You don't need to buy a textbook for the class.

Discussion posts are easy and require one response at initial post, document responses are direct and related to given topic, and quizzes are relatively easy too- historical IDs are a bit confusing and take more time during quiz/exams. Recommend skimming vid. lectures for some info thats in the tests.

Online class. Quizzes were easy if you read the material and took notes. Do things on time and you'll be just fine. Not a very hard grader as long as you follow the prompts / rubrics. Reading material was a good amount but doable if you manage your time correctly.

Professor Collins is an amazing instructor who has a passion of teaching during her lectures and she's a really nice person and has great patience. She allows students to use a page of notes during tests which is very helpful for students who need a quick reminder, she allows students to make up for late work or retake tests with poor percentages.
