Not very helpful. reads the textbook for a few hours and wonders why everyone is asleep.
Reads the book and gets mad at students who dont pay attention. Tries to short students points on assignments if she is mad at them 6 students out of 20 complained about this.
Horrible/boring teacher. Her classes are the most boring experience I've ever had in my life. Do not take this class!
I like this teacher. She is funny and I would take her again. Very helpful wile going over the meteral.
An average professor. Not great. Not horrible. Fair grader. Slight accent makes lectures a bit difficult to understand. Learning Excel with her seemed harder than it should've.
He is the worst teacher. He doesn't have command of the English language, the lectures are simply cut/pasted from the textbook, and the assignments are so silly and his pickiniess w/ how you write you rname, etc., is a bit much. Would recommend him to no one, not even my enemy.
BORING UP THE ASS. She doesnt teach for****. All she does is read from the book and is not helpful at all. Honestly you can skip the class, read the book and pass the class. She picks on U if U fall asleep, but who cant help it when her class is BORING! CHoose another teacher please and save urself
Easy as hell! I would recommend it. Gives you homework after each chapter. Lets you turn it in week late with no penalty.
Very bad. Does not help with extra material to explain problems. Too picky. Hard grader. Very unclear as to what she wants. Don't take her. She's bad, bad, bad. The worst teacher I ever had.
I took two classes with her: CIS30 & CIS60B, both online; she knows Excel and Photoshop very well, always answers your emails or posted questions. The books she has chosen for classes are pretty cool, especially the Photoshop ones. I definitely recommend you to take her classes.
This professor is very unorganized. She cuts and pastes from previous classes so some of the due dates are incorrect. She does not respond timely to emails nor homework. She is a tough grader for homework.
I've had this instructor in both CIS 60A and 60B -Photoshop. She knows her stuff and goes the extra mile to search for additional interesting projects and to be helpful. She inspires creativity in everyone and has a very positive attitude. She makes difficult concepts easy. She's also great in accounting.
I disagree. I had trouble following her instructions. When something wasn't clear, she said it was my fault.
Yeah I never got responses to my emails with questions about that weeks assignment until maybe a week or so later. There are like 100 syllabus's(?) and if you do get a reply it's some smart ass remark like "Read the syllabus!" I got an easy B, but I thought this was a guy and didn't like him/her/it at all
Choose another prof! The material isn't difficult, but you have to understand the assignments. If the books aren't worth a d@%# (like CIS 60B), you're gonna have a hard time because the prof isn't clear or responsive. Told us we had to log in every day but class is not a 24/7 deal for her. Don't expect responses on weekends or holidays.
There is really no point having her teach the class. Not only does she do half-assed lectures, her feedback is generic and unhelpful. You can just buy the book that's required for class and just teach yourself instead.
AWEFUL!!! According to her, all problems are caused by students. The students are at fault for not understanding her directions, for her having too much work to grade assignments (she's usually 5 weeks behind), or for her not doing what she's supposed to do. Why do we have to remind her to do her job or get berated if we ask questions? WORST EVER!
I completely agree with the other student postings about the inattentiveness of this professor to student questions and the general confusion that is spread throughout most of her assignments. You can understand the easier assignments, but when you need help with the tougher ones, don't expect a responsive or a quick answer. Not a commited prof.
not a difficult class. however, her lack of organization/preparation, slow grading, and constant excuses makes it frustrating. especially in a full semester course.
Very poor, unorganized professor. Gave wrong instructions, never answered emails or if did, unhelpful sarcastic answers. Weeks behind in her grading of homework and exams. Grammer and spelling so poor we were unsure of what she was asking. BUT learned an enormous amount in this class. But not because she actually did much teaching.
Stay away at all costs!!! This teacher is very unhelpful, don't really think she understands the english language either, meaning all her directions are unclear! You'll be sorry
She is a great professor. I took all her classes online: CIS 30, CIS 40, CIS 60B, CIS 64. She always responds on time to your e-mail, and clarifies whatever you ask about. Highly recommend her.
Really enjoyed the class and felt it was rather easy. Looking forward to taking 31B. I will agree with others that she is a little slow in responding to emails and grading assignments but very fair in grading and testing. I would recommend.
Poor knowledge of the subject that she teaches. Very disorganized. Does not seem to be interested in the subject that she teaches.
Took her Excel Accounting course. WATCH OUT! She is too strict on instructions and very confusing. Her instructions are not organized yet she expects them to be followed 100%. Gives you a 12-hour window for test/quizzes during the week, not ideal for online course. If your a wiz at Excel, you'll do great. If not you will struggle.
Odemaris is an amazing and very knowledgeable professor. Her classes are always very well organized and she always answers your e-mails within 24 hours. I took all of her classes online (CIS 30, 40, 60B, 64) and it was great. The books she chooses are easy to follow, assignments though quite challenging are doable, and it's time very well spent.
This is one of the worst professor I had ever gotten. Communication is not a factor here, being an online course, this professor is just not interested in getting questions back to students on a timely fashion. Not clear on his/her instruction but hold you accountable for it. Do not take this class with this professor if you don't have to. BAD!
confusing organization of class materials
3 weeks into this class and already she has had to issue multiple corrections. Unclear, confused, slow in responding. I'm underwhelmed and my love for Photoshop is waning already...
Online: Decent professor, easy grader, slowwwwwwww in returning materials. Also has to correct project and exam directions at times, which is a real pain if you download it first thing and start working on it early. Take her 8 week course, it's at a perfect pace.
This was the third class I have taken from Prof. Valdevia and I have to admit she has GREATLY improved. I think the biggest point, is you have to be self motivated to get anything out of her classes. Don't expect her to prod you along, you will not make it. She has very little input and is sometimes confusing, but I learned a lot in her classes.
I took Acctg 33 online for winter session. The professor was right down the middle. Not easy but not difficult. It was a lot of work though so I don't recommend taking this course as a winter session class. I think the grading was fair and the professor was pretty helpful but nothing over the top. :)
the positive? i learned a lot. by teaching myself from the book that is. prof V is completely useless-takes at least 3 weeks to grade assignments/midterm, will not reply to emails, is rude & condescending with her feedback on your work & could clearly care less about her students. she has no personal responsibility & it was extremely disappointing.
its actually finals week for this class and bc Prof. Valdivia does not answer emails or students cries for help, she did not know for 36 hours that she had uploaded an excel class project for our photoshop class on accident, wasting one day of work 4 her students. is inconsiderate, rude, sarcastic and i ended up teaching myself the course material.
Totally. Useless. Plan on teaching yourself, being ruthlessly scolded for ridiculously minor infractions, and set aside lots of time to read each week's brief outline: you'll need a couple hours to comprehend it.
I have only completed so far one week of an online class taught by Prof. Valdivia and can already say I will never sign up for her class again. She is rude in her responses and expects you to understand what she wants when the instructionss are UNCLEAR.
I had a 4.0 GPA before taking this class. It is not as if I dont know how to use Excel, it does not take a genious to figure it out. But this teacher is UNCLEAR on what she wants and then deducts pionts for not reading her mind. Worst teacher EVER.
Should not be teaching college as she is overly concerned with following detailed rules of minor consequence as if her students are in military boot camp. Horrible English replete with major grammatical and syntactical errors. She is teaching a graphic design course, but her graphics are utterly lacking in aesthetic qualities. Not recommended.
I agree with the last poster...I had a 4.0 before taking this professor's class. This is an online class, and the professor docked me points because SMC's system kept giving me an error message when I tried to submit an assignment. After providing the prof with a screen capture of the error message, I still got no credit, and no help. Horrible.
her voice is very unclear most exercises is out of text book and she is very tough in grading most of students failed the course or got D because of her toughness.
Very unclear instruction. Instructor does not respond to emails, and does not post weekly class lesson on time. I spent twice as much time redoing work because her instructions were wrong and then got changed. It is impossible to get work done early in the week, as class work is either not posted, or is posted wrong. Should not be teaching.
This teacher has no respect for students' time. She changes instructions mid week, and then says "you still have xx days to do it, so nothing can be turned in late". What isn't considered is that we have lives and should be allowed to plan what days we can spend on work. Instead she thinks we are available 24 hrs/day to re-do because of her errors.
Wish I had read these ratings first. Teacher was unresponsive, which would not have been an issue if his instructions had been clear. 99% of ?'s had to do with instructions being unclear or wrong. Did not get grades for assignments during quarter. Now we are locked out of the online board since quarter is over. I learned in spite of teacher.
Convoluted teaching style, requiring to many inputs to complete the class
There are some serious quality issues about this instructor (though she insists to be addressed as and calls herself as a "professor"). First of all, her written communication is invariably full of grammatical and spelling errors and her instructions are at times incomprehensive. It's astonishing how she has a job as a "professor."
I wish I had read these ratings and comments about her before I took her course. I took her online course (Excel for Accounting). Her poor English coupled with her generally poor communication skills made the class a bad experience. Maybe it's her English problem, but she talks to you like she does not have any respect for you.
I received a good grade in the class, so I'm not complaining about the grade or the difficulty level, etc. But she definitely needs to work on her communication skills. Students wasted a fair amount of time in seeking clarification on her very confusing instructions. Also, she is too lazy and does not honor her words... that's problematic, too.
Stay away at all costs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Teacher's unresponsive. If you write her, you will hear back from her once in about three times... about 3 days later...
Very, very unclear instructions. Figuring out assignment instructions takes longer than assignment. Teacher does not answer emails or grade papers until too late (as of the final exam, she was still grading assignments from week 2). This gave no opportunity to learn from mistakes, only to get scolded for them after the fact. Avoid this teacher.
THE WORST instruct. I have ever had the displeasure of acquaintance. Demos, texts, exams, etc., were all unclear. HW not graded for W/O 2 wk lag. Coupled w/ no allowance for homework resubmission, there was no way to "learn" even from mistakes until too late! Ans. to Qs from board & e-mail showed obstinate obtuseness, & pointed ignorance of Eng.
Took this course online. The professor is extremely unorganized. Her english is barely understandable. She is very picky and her instructions are so messy, it's hard to understand what she wants from you. She is not very responsive. Even if you excel really well, you'll lose points for stupid things like not being able to understand what she wants
Second the comments of students on this board. Teacher's instructions are posted late, repetitive, provide conflicting info. Writing is not standard English. It needs work. Also, she comes across as disrespectful-needs to lose her baggage about students cheating. 90% of the students in the class. Her knowledge of Excel, in her examples, is weak.
Worst online teacher I've had! Instructions unclear and full of mistakes, and does not respond to questions. Took longer to figure out instructions than to do assignments. Rude, did not grade homework til end of quarter. Sometimes posted online content a day late, so we lost a day of work. Deducts points for ANY mistake, no matter how insignificant.
This person is a soul-less monstress. I didn't learn anything, grading is set up to be very arbitrary offering no feedback. I would never bother to take anything of hers again. Unless u want 2 take a class the instructor feels should be "the highest priority in your life" don't bother. Even f U do, there are better classes 4 that level of commitm
I cannot understand when the hell my assignments/tests/projects are due. I seriously hope this professor was previously an accountant. Absolutely baffling how this person is still a professor.
Wish I'd read some of the comments beforehand. It is as bad as everyone says. The instructions and English are as bad as everyone says. Plus she is VERY negative in her approach to teaching and to students. Take my advice, find another professor or take it at another school.
I am two weeks into the course and should have respected my instincts from ACCT31A. She is as bad in this class as accting. She also hands out 'early status' warnings at the drop of a hat, the fourth day of class (!) for 'not logging in', very negative way to begin [I have over a 3.5 in all my coursework at SMC] DO NOT TAKE, a mistake on my part
If you can keep up with her, by all means, take the class. She was difficult to keep up with for most of the students. She doesn't explain exactly what you're supposed to do with the homework assignment. She lowered my grade and I told her I didn't understand the homework. She doesn't email you back right away when you ask her a question. Good luck
She responds to emails fast depending on the day of the week. No weekends emails. She does tell you that at the beginning of the class. She is nice, and she is always sending me job openings when they become available. I will take Prof. Valdivia for ACCTG 35 for the Spring semester. I like this instructor. I think she is fair on the grading.
Great teacher. You learn a lot in this class. I got a job after taking this class.
This instructor's near-total dependence on the class textbook isn't helped by her poor command of English and confusing instructions for assignments. Most weekly board post questions have little to do with the actual class topic. That the class is run on a buggy online instruction system makes it that much harder. Not recommended.
Instructions were all over the place and largely incomprehensible. I expected to learn how to make better use of Excel in the accounting field; instead I learned how to make "pretty" spreadsheets. Her top priority was making sure every tab was a different color and dollar signs were in the right place. Very little about accounting, formulas, etc.
I read all the negative comments here and took CIS 30 Excel to prepare. There is a lot of overlap, and it made this class easy. Just read the directions and keep referring to the weekly tips from week 1 on proper formatting. The midterm and first class project closes on a Friday. Not incomprehensible, but she definitely needs a proofreader.
She is a demanding instructor but reasonable. We get so use to lazy teachers that when we get one that actually has expectations from her students, we think there is something odd. Hey.. lets start earing our grades!
This is my third online class and first time with Prof. Valdivia. I must say this is the most i have learned in or out of a classroom. She is a bit tough but good teacher.
I took this class online for summer! From the beginning you have to be very attentive! It is definitely not an easy class, since it requires following instructions from the textbook and building on from them. I barely recieved a B, but learned a lot! She will grade depending on you, and will help as long as you communicate and is eager to learn
Class started out confusing because instructor did not seem to have materials prepared. The syllabus was confusing with incorrect dates and materials listed. But once that is clarified, the class was pretty easy. Read the textbook and do your work and you can get an A. She is a stickler for formats so make sure you follow instructions to the T.
I took 31A and B online. I think the content was easy if you do the work. Yes, she is a stickler for details. Which is ironic given that her instructions and explanations are often full of errors. She talks about "professional" documents but her work is full of errors, excess formatting, and confusing instructions. Not very clear.
Valdivia is absolutely horrible, avoid at all costs. Does not return homework and assignments until the end of the semester, so you never get to learn form your mistakes until its too late. Expects perfect formatting, yet her own instructions and organizational skills are the lowest ive ever encountered at smc.
VERY hard to understand the instructions for class especially if you did NOT take ACT31A. Don't ask questions after you are graded. She will find more things wrong to reduce your grade. Her eaxpectations for Comma and Dollar formatting is impossible to understand. Expects formatting to be different from book. She does not provide good example.
Frequently throughout the semester she would issue exams without grading the relevant homework assignments. Feedback was lackluster and it was more efficient to perform a simple google search for answers on the material. She is an overall nice person and not evil as depicted in previous reviews. English and organizational skills need improvement.
The worst teacher I ever encountered in SMC and I completed 2 AA’s in this school. Makes lots of mistakes in grading, contradicts herself and she is vindictive. Try to complain and she will come after you. Any other teacher is better than this disaster. The worst experience ever.
Ms Valdivia expectation from her students is high but she is dedicated and definitely cares if you learn or not. If you are lazy, looking for easy A, and you feel you are entitled to all.. do not take this class but if you put hard work and actually willing to learn, she is a good professor
Prof. takes weeks to grade papers. Understandable that she has more than one class but it would be nice to know your grade before the semester is over. Assignments are posted Monday and due Friday, which limits you from working on it over the weekend. Fair grader although she missed & said I didn't do some assignments when I did. Ive had better!
Extremely vague when assigning work for the class. Always way behind in grading. Very little input into what we are doing, but expects great things from us. Made this class, which should have been fairly easy for me, way too difficult.
I wish I would have read some of these reviews. She teaches straight from the book. No additional helpful information. Her assignment instructions are not clear, and like someone else said; she has a very negative attitude towards students. The few times I saw someone asking a question on the board she answered in a rude condescending manner.
1. assignment instructions are not clear 2. Always way behind in grading, takes weeks to grade papers. 3. She encourages asking questions but ...... google is better, unclear answer .............. But she is a nice person
Horrible slow feedback, you would be better off learning this on your own. Never ever take any course from her. She needs to go find a real job.
Slow to grade and feedback comes to late to be helpful for exams. 5 plus days to respond to emails and then is vague in the response or responds after the assignment in question in due.
Horrible teacher, despicable individual. Excel is my life and I was really interested with this class but this person ruined it for me. I'm being objective here (I scored 98%). She is disorganized, doesn't write proper English, and is mean to students.
Unclear instructions, condescending tone , unfair, unhelpful, i would never take a class with this instructor and will not recommend anyone else
I got an A in the course but was really disappointed after taking it. I spent more time trying to understand her poorly written instructions and notes than I did learning Excel. She needs an assistant to help edit her website or something because she doesn't seem to have solid English skills. Her being a stickler for details is ironic.
By far the worst professor I have ever had. Her English is not clear . Every email , announcement , and assignment that was not taken straight from the textbook contains grammatical errors. I had successfully completed Adobe Photoshop 1 &2 ,illustrator and digital media before taking her class .She grades based on criteria not clearly listed.
Yet another teacher that struggles with making her instructions clear. Slow to respond to questions too. Lots of reading and an average amount of homework each week. Not a difficult class, just difficult to determine what the teacher wants.
She does give good feedback on assignments and exams but the course was pretty much a mess. As noted in other reviews, her instructions for the class work are often very unclear, resulting in wasted time and energy trying to figure out what is being asked for. I would not take another class with her.
She is strict on her formatting preferences, but her instructions are in muddled English and spread across several documents and docks points if any cell formatting is slightly off. She is an unresponsive, slow grader - all of the tests and projects are required to be taken/turned in, in the middle of the week - challenging for full-time workers.
She is poor professor as I ever met. Non organized stupit thing is she. She is never get your homework file submitted and always tell you about it at the end semester.
Although the class met once a week, the material itself was not hard. Trying to understand what she wants you to turn in is. I feel she is not clear and that makes it very hard especially when she grades the hw about a month later. This makes it hard to correct mistakes that "you should have known" when the rest of your hw is now incorrect.
Easily the worst professor I have ever had at SMC. She doesn't answer emails on the weekends, and if she does she lectures you about how you should be sending emails during the week. Her grading system is ridiculous 80% or higher on everything or you receive zero credit, I really feel like her class is set up for students to fail. I don't recommend
Instructions are a little confusing, but I never had to email her for clarification and I got an A. If you're the kind of student who often understands the text without asking the professor for help, then you will do well in this class. The extra credit was so hard though. It took 20 minutes to get 1 extra credit point
I have taken her for both ACCT31 A & B online. The negative is that she does take forever to grade assignments. Her instructions are clear, but difficult for international students to not understand her directions due to her not using spell check on her syllabus and assignments. If you can keep up with your assignments, then you will pass .
probably the worst teacher at SMC, she is not nice at all, only answers emails on the during the week and not weekends and doesn't seem to care about the students. She is a very tough grader and doesn't give good feedback. Never gives good advice. would not recommend .
She isn't as bad as everyone makes her out to be. Her practice tests are easy if you study the material and do your homework. The only frustrating part about her class is that her directions for the project can be a little confusing, however, if you email her she gets back to you promptly except for weekends. Which is fair, don't be a procrastinator
Let's just say I'm glad I took her Excel class(es) but they were taught at very low level. It was not an Advanced course by any means. She never gave any practice tests and was just a pain to deal with, muddled instructions in poor English. The work was actually fun, but not hard at all. Need a Part 3 and 4 to this course sequence, for sure.
You can work for two hours on a class project and receive 0 points. Even though her instructions are not clear. You will not understand what she wants.
I've taken two classes with Professor Valdivia-one online and one in person. Neither were easy. She gives a lot of homework, and the projects can be challenging, but they were worth it. Don't underestimate the work. Focus on understanding what she is asking for. Get to know her. She cares about her students' success.
Without a doubt, the worst teacher I've had at SMC. Tough grader. Doesn't help that her directions for the assignments are almost always unclear. Her "instructional" videos need MAJOR improvements. It seems that she does not care about teaching, only cares about ruining dreams. Avoid her at all costs and if you can't, best of luck!!!
I rarely ever have more negative points to mention about professors, and most often I use this as an opportunity for constructive criticism, but this professor is one that should be avoided at all costs. Usually, its enough when the student is a hardworking one, but somehow with this professor, being a hard working student earns you a tougher time
This was a single-credit online PowerPoint class and she lectured like it was part of a pre-med curriculum. I'd used PP in the past and was shocked by the anger in her feedback for minor things. She wrote literal essays for margins being off by 1/8 inch. I ended up taking the beginning and advanced classes elsewhere and got an A in both. Sad.
This professor is VERY unclear in her instructions & VERY unresponsive. She only makes herself available to receive Questions Mon-Fri (nothing wrong with this) EXCEPT she doesn't respond to you until Friday evening or Saturday morning. Making it nearly impossible to ask follow up questions & get responses before assignments & tests are due!!!
She does not grade hw or anything on time. Tons of misspellings in lectures and powerpoints. She expects one thing but does not do the same for her students. Any computer software course you take with her will be self-taught.
Prof. Valdivia managed to make this calss super irritating. I admit I did learn a lot it was only through self teachings because thats basically what it is. For projects please expect to be thouroughly confused by some of the instructions (I ended up not doing some steps becasue I didn't know what she was asking for). And there's a lot of projects.
She teaches online and posts pretty good tutorials. Other than that she doesn't really teach anything! It's just files from the book and powerpoint presentations of the chapters in it. It's pretty easy. There is no video chatting even to demonstrate some Photoshop techniques. She's very strict about deadlines while taking a over a week to grade you
ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. The class shouldn't be that hard, but is made a million times more difficult by her crappy instructions and lack of clarity. She is SO RUDE. The feedback on any mistakes is unnecessarily rude. She writes things like: Why would you do that? If you messed up, you should have fixed it. NO DUH. Every comment would be rude. DON'T TAKE
So I took both Indesign and Illustrator this semester w/ Prof. Valdivia and almost dropped before they started b/c of RateMyProf. I'm seriously glad I didn't. You literally follow the book step by step-so yeah read the book and watch the videos. You can retake each quiz TEN times. Ask questions if something is confusing. Not complicated at all.
Professor Valdivia helped me pass the QuickBooks certification exam. She took the time to Procter the exam and got fee waivers for us from SMC. Her feedback helped me learn and grow. The projects were challenging because they built on each other. I earned a B.
This is possibly the worst professor at smc. I am taking QB for enrichment and I needed a filler at my uni. SHE IS AWFUL. Does not explain anything and says you dont follow the instructions or you don't know acct. Her lec videos are a waste of time they barely have any info and her projects somewhat don't make sense cuz there is nothing to go off
Relaxing and nice manner.
I don't know if it's the format of the class or her style but I think the class is horrific. Learning Excel online with poor context is useless. Online software is such a lazy ass method of teaching. This is exactly what this class is. For easy things like formatting it's OK, but for complex learning this class is trash. She isn't a real teacher.
You will spend most of the time on the online exams trying to figure out what exactly she wants because she has no ability to communicate clearly, including on the exams she writes. The class was NOT an Advanced Excel class. No way. It was intermediate at best. She is rude. It took her 1 day short of 3 weeks to grade the midterm exams. DON't TAKE
I got an A because I have experience with Powerpoint, I believe it's gonna be super hard if you don't. Try to avoid, trust me guys.
out of six classes, her syllabus had double the assignments . I received an add code after the first assignment was due and she reduced the grade even though I was not registered at the deadline. There is no way you will learn loads because it to many assignments back-to-back to think and actually learn
I have dyslexia and asked in the first week for accommodations-I needed videos of the home work assignments read to me. I need verbal because of my disability. She chastised me and refused. Not accommodating at all. I didn't bother going to the disabilities office because it would be an uphill climb. Now that I see these ratings, I'm not surprised.
I do not usually write reviews.. however, this class is the worst thing in my life...
a WORST THING that I have ever done.... Guys.. please watch YouTube lecture. It would a way better than taking this a horrible class... She does not teach anything.. just collect some documents and provide you. I gotta drop this class and watch YouTube lecture.. save time and money
Do not take her at all costs, her instructions for her assignments are a mess, possibly not even her own instructions that she uses. she is not reasonable when it comes to clearing the confusion towards the assignment. Takes a while to grade and grades harshly when you miss some parts of the assignment even when you didn't understand how to complete
Her assignment instructions are totally unclear & often incorrect so you end up doing the "wrong" thing. Then she docks you points for that, even though you did what was instructed. Explanations of terms and formulas are often incorrect so you end up having to look for explanations elsewhere, which defeats the purpose of taking class with her.
Bad communicator. Not accurate in what she says or what she instructs us to do in the Quickbooks class. It's the type of class where the instructions must be perfectly accurate or else you cannot complete the assignments. Yet her instructions have numerous typos and give bas instructions! Impossible! Never takes responsibility for her mistakes!
Had this teacher for three semesters. She was my QuickBooks Online teacher (course CIS35B), my basic excel for accounting teacher (Accounting 31A), and my advanced accounting teacher (Accounting 31B) She grades the assignments late, but on time to study for your exams on what is going to be on the exam. Her feedback is very helpful.
She is very helpful during office hours. I don't know where all of these bad reviews came from, but she really is an excellent teacher. If you put in the work and the effort, and follow her feedback, then you should be fine in the classroom. Her communication and feedback is very clear and concise, and her directions are very straight forward.
Amazing professor whose goal is to make sure you succeed in the real world. If you understand how much Excel can help your professional, personal & academic life, you'll appreciate her focus on detail. She went above & beyond to help me get MOS certified in Excel--resume bonus! Meet her in person via Zoom to truly appreciate her caring & kindness.
She was an on-point teacher, she'd give helpful feedback about missed steps in assignments (even including screenshots to identify problems). Make sure to try correcting anything wrong so that future hw can be accurate. Assignments could be done on the due date (basically just accurately follow instructions n ur good) (I took a 7/8 week course)
Challenging course, but professor provides helpful feedback. Use unstuckstudy and follow instructions closely to succeed. Attendance is a must, and textbook is useful. Overall, it's a rewarding experience if you put in the work.
She's pretty easy, the only issue I had was with following some of her instructions. Sometimes it took me a couple of minutes to understand what she meant. She give a ton of extra credit so it's practically impossible to get anything lower than an A.
She is probably the worst professor I've ever had. She gave me 0/40 just because I put the wrong date on a document. She Doesn't even bother to teach anything herself, she just says to follow exercises in a book. Terrible, and I am sorry if you have to take her for credit...
This was one of the worst online classes I have ever taken. Basically, 8 weeks of craziness. Luckily, the work was not difficult. But for an "Advanced" Excel class, there should've been a lot more stuff covered on the more challenging aspects of Excel. I won't get into how bad she was as an instructor but suffice it to say, it was beyond bad!!
The textbook is not up to date with the latest QuickBooks version, and she also provides similar instructions to follow, which she typed up, but half the time her instructions aren't clear, so you have to message for clarity and get no response until right before it's due - Takes DAYS to respond on Canvas and email.
She is tough on assignment. No make up of the assignment. If you miss assignment you will be dropped without your knowledge. This professor is very strict and not helpful.
Professor Valdivia is very unorganized and does not provide clear instructions. Her assignments and books are full of typos which makes it difficult to follow along. The class is overall easy, however, I would not refer to it as an Advanced accounting class.
