Do Not take this class if you want to learn or understand anything. He does not know how to speak english and you will fail every test. However, everyone will get C's because he can't fail everybody.
Mr Mkpong is a foriegner and very hard to understand. He seems very smart but doesnt relay that information to the class so well. I didnt learn much but I passed with a B, so he is very helpful on passing.
If you love yourself don't take him!

I took BSC1010 with D. Mkpong and I found him to be a very kind and helpful professor who really cares about his students success. He is always willing to help a student. I was very happy with his class and I am looking forward to taking my chemistry classes with him.
It is true, his accent is thick, but I was able to understand him very well. He has a genuine passion for biology and his students. Tests and quizzes are TOUGH! I failed almost every test, but did lots of extra credit, and got a B! If you are good with accents take his course but STUDY ALOT to pass!

Very hard professor!! He loves what he teaches but you have a hard time understanding what he says. The tests are pretty bad, but he gives you a chance to make up the points through extra credit and homeworks..not recommended.

Professor Mkpong is the best professor. He does not joke around and flirt with his students to to be popular unlike Colombo. He is a very strict teacher who cares about your success. If you work hard you will certainly get an A in his class.
This is an awesome professor. He works hard to see that we understand the subject matter. He WANTS us to learn and not just regurgitate information. If you try at all, you will succeed in his class.
I don't know what some people are talking about. Dr. Mkpong is the best and the most caring and understanding professor in PBCC. He really cares that you succeed and gives you lots and lots of extra credits to help bring up your grades. So what if he has an accent. Don't be bias to him just because of that. Out of the 30 kids in the class only about 8 didnt drop the class. He is unclear in his teaching and the strange wording on the test makes it difficult to follow. Do yourself a favor and find another teacher

Dr. Mkpong, Full of himself? That is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. He is the most helpful and caring professor. He cares about your education. You cant understand anything he says. He is a nice guy, but he is hard to understand. His exams have no basis on what he teaches or the book, and he isn't much help unless you go plead. Don't expect to pass with higher then a B even if you study hard.

Prof. Mkpong is very smart. You can learn alot. But you cannot be lazy in his class, this is college NOT high school. Do your work, study and do all the extra credit. and you will surprise yourself. If you want a college education you will have to work.

What a horrible, hateful little man!!! No syllabus, no time-table, no breakdown of grades...just springs work on you because it's convenient to him! Everything you ask him about upcoming work and tests you get "I don't know." Unclear instructions n tests, lots of mistakes that will throw you off. Maybe he is good at Bio, but he SUCKS at chemistry!!
He has a strong accent and is very hard to understand. His test are horrible. It's really hard to do well on them, but there is a lot of extra credit you can do. Smart guy, but has a problem communicating his knowledge to students.

Mr. Mkpong has such a big heart! He is a brilliant professor and is willing to work with you. His class is not for the student who wants to come to school 1 day a week and expect to pass. He wants you to learn and has a passion for science. GREAT CLASS!
Ok so listen up...for the love, NO ONE TAKE THIS MAN FOR A CLASS. Mr zmkpong was a great teacher but his class wasd hard. you have to study slot. honestly i thought i failed his class but i got an A. all you have to do is come to class and make sure you do all his extra credits and homework, and you'll pass. and he's always willing to help ALWAYS

Nice personality & helpful but teaching skills are lacking and tests are ridiculously difficult. Not due to material but because the way he words his questions makes them difficult to understand and many times they are irrelevant to the material! If you are seriously interested in learning about Biology, find a different professor.
Dr.O is one of the BEST Professors at PBCC. He really cares about his students and want them to do well. I took his class two years ago and he has been my mentor ever since. He is really nice, kind, and has a heart of GOLD
Horrible English. Makes the most outlandish and ridiculous analogies. And he spells out words as he's writing them on the board. It's a concepts of biology class, I was hoping to brush up on my bio since I haven't taken the class since 2001 in high school. His class is BAD!
This is the hardest A I have ever earned. This class is stressful. Mkpong is a good man. He is nice and he tries to help but his exams are insane. It is a lot of work. And everyone feels like they are failing at first but everyones grade turn out great in the end. He is a good man.
EASSSY A; probably one of the easiest I have ever recieved! I attend PBCC in the summers when I'm home from my school and overall I think all of the teachers and their classes here are a JOKE. Very helpful...hes a bit weird but kind. Make sure you remember your shirt color the first day because thats your name for the rest of the semester!
What a freaking joke this teahcer is!! Seriously has a good heart but wayyy too weird for me. I actually wanted to learn something about biology but thats never gonna happen in this class. His homeworks are so easy anyone could do it but completely opposite of what you actually do in class. His guy seriously need to retire already!!
Hard to understand him, and tests aren't exactly the easiest. He has pages and pages of notes that don't really help you much. I'm sure he's a good guy, but can be a pain sometimes.

Dr. Mkpong is indeed a hard prof but he is one of the best. Just pay attention do your homework and extra credit and you will get an A. Its those kids who think they are still in grade school who rate him so bad. Grow up people! This is college!!!
This class us and EASY A!!! The only drawback is Dr. Mkpong's english skills are horrible, epecially his written language skills. Some test questiona will make no sense at all. Do all the homework and extra credit you can and you will be heading into the final needing about a 20% to lock up an A.

Professor knows a LOT about subject matter but has poor english skills. took environmental, really nice and interesting class. Unfortunately the professor's English skills made it really hard to understand. I really hated taking this class with him, tests are NOT related directly with class content or notes, not to mention hard. Prof. knows the subject but thats not saying he has good teaching skills
DON'T TAKE ANY CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR!! He doesn't give you a schedule of HW, projects, experiments, quizzes nor final. He gives you due dates a class before it's due. The only positive side about this class is that he gives extra credit on his HW assignments. If you take his class you will need the extra credit. His quizzes are incomprehensive.

He is the worst professor I have ever encountered in my life. I withdrew from his class. I couldn't understand a word he said, and he has no structure or organization to his class. After every class I find myself frusterated, lost, and confused. He does mean well and is a nice guy, but he needs to consider a different career. Do not take him.

We are so lucky his tests are open book, it give you the chance to re-learn what you've forgotten! He gave us an in class test b/c lame people complained about the open book & it was REALLY HARD! You have to really be interested in Biology to take him. I got an A this semester, but I really really had to study. In order to do well you have to do all hw, and read the text book even though he doesnt assign you to.

I have him now for ORGANIC Chemistry. He is the bomb. I have an A+ in his class. He gives tons of extra credit and homework to push your grade up. YOU MUST READ THE BOOK! If you cannot read you should not be in college. He will not be your nurse maid. He is super! His accent is a little tough at times, ask him to repeat it if needed.

He confused the living daylight out of me! I loved Biology until I took his class. He is hard to understand. He gives tests without even finishing the lessons so basically half of your test has unlearned material in it. He lectures about whatever he feels like lecturing that day. I hate going to this class. The tests are almost impossible. BAD!

This Prof is on the dull and boring side. The classes drag and tests are given on chapters he hasnt gone over yet. you have to read the textbook like a mad person to keep up. He is very intelligent and polite and he means well but if your interested in Biology dont take this class - he will turn you off to science all together
this professor is real nice and all, but he should not be a professor in my opinion. the stuff he covers is barely on the quizzes or tests. and the final is 300 questions, 2 hours, NO CURVE. he is very strict on phone use during class. i dont know if im even going to pass the class yet. i have the final tomorow :(
The man is very knowledgeable in biology. But he cannot teach. I can't understand his lectures. I hope you have a lot of patience when taking this class because he goes over the same thing for an hour and 15 min, and gives you a test on things that were never covered. The final is not so bad, the only problem is, he never tells you what to study.

Guy is hard to understand but this is college! Get over the fact that mommy and daddy are not baby sitting you anymore in high school. This teacher is very hard to understand and he does not know how to teach! He explained to us chapter 1 trought 3 and gave us a 93 questions quiz from chapter 1 -6 even if we just covered half of the material, even if the test was online it was very hard. than next week he starts teaching chapter 4 , he just sucks!

He's really nice, he explain everything. If you don't study you will not do well not just because of him but because Biology is not an easy subject. He makes the class fun, yes some of his onlin quizes are 50-95 questions long and they are hard but use the enternet for help. The final is super easy if u study u will A's it.
Foreigners may want to avoid him as he can be hard to understand. He will tell you the final is 300 questions - DONT PANIC! Its just his way of scaring you into studying, it will a tough final, but its a much more reasonable number of questions.

this class should be for Biliogy majors. He states that the quizes are to make sure you learned the information. I feel if your in class daily trying you should make the quiz and test straight forward. He's a nice guy make him self available for subject clerification. He only gave our class one or 2 extra credit.
If you havent taken a bio/physics/chem class before this class it will be hard to grasp eveything. He teaches in an applied learning style meaning that if you dont understand a concept, you probobly wont pass his tests. He's hard to understand but he is very bright and has a good sense of humor which makes 8 am classes a little easier.
The quizes were technical & the class was very informational.The final was more of a matter a fact.I ended up passing the class after doing all the extra credit assignments and extra credit points that could be earned from doing extra on the discussions.He is a nice teacher and has a passion for the subject so be ready for a wealth of information.
I took a 10 week class with him and it was a lot material to cover, which i appreciated due to the willingness to learn the material. However, i do realize that sometimes i got overwhelmed with how much studying i had to do to get an A. Nonetheless, the professor really had a passion for teaching.
This teacher is a little harder to understand because he speaks quietly, but is an overall great instructor. He has a great sense of humor and is straight forward with quizzes and final. Have a cup of coffee before class, go in with an open mind, and sit in the front row so you can hear.

Dr. Mkpong was one of my very favorite teachers. He taught directly from his posted notes and tests were based off those notes. He is difficult to understand at first, but if you go to class and listen you will do fine. Final has numerous questions, but not all count. You will definitely learn things about Bio you never knew before.

He reads his blackboard notes and he barely teaches you anything. Avoid at ALL costs. Tough quizzes and exam. Homework instructions were not clear whatsoever. Refers to you based on clothing color you wear.
He is a very nice person and tries really hard to engage and interact with the class. English is not his first language, but he tries to be as clear as possible. Unfortunatley, in regards to assignments, it is difficult to understand his directions on how to complete them. He tends to abbreviate A LOT which makes his lecture notes even less clear.
He is very hard to follow, very knowledgeable but does not know how to clearly discuss and teach the class. Assignments are easy but difficult to understand when they are do. Get's off topic alot, and doesn't follow the book. I would not recommend this professor.
Smart man. Definitely has in interesting teaching style. If you can deal with a soft spoken, foreign man. This was my last science credit, so I'm familiar with biology. I can understand that a first time college student, taking biology, he'd be difficult. But if you put in effort and read the notes (which he gives to you) you'll do fine.
The entire class was very confusing. I took this online. Every lecture or note was very confusing to read, many spelling errors, things were written in different fonts and colors and sizes, so it was hard to read and understand what he was trying to emphasize. The tests were pretty hard. The layout of the class was unorganized and confusing...
He is nice and can be funny, but he is unorganized when teaching and sometimes is not clear with what he says. Homework is easy. He makes up his own test and puts them in HIS words. Wants you to always follow with the notes on laptop or phone.
Is not clear about assignments and doesn't follow the syllabus because of last minute changes. Does not respond to emails.
He tries very hard to interact with students and make the class less miserable, but with a language barrier and his sarcasm, it becomes very hard to like him. Does not answer any questions regarding the material or deadlines. He writes his own test questions and they are very hard to understand.
