Although, some people may not like his teaching method, I personally believe he is the best Organic profesor here at UH. This is my first time in Organic Chemistry an I understand it unlike some of my friends that have taken this class atleast two or three times. The best professor FOR SURE. About time UH hired a good Chemistry professor.
Miljanic is an okay professor to take for ochem. Although his lectures pertain to the textbook, exams are relatively straightforward. Just read the book and do many problems and you should walk away with a decent grade.
He is a huge fan of class feedback! His voice (w/accent) drifts to a whisper at times. He covers a lot of ground in class, but allows a 5min break amidst his lectures to make up for it. He is nice, has a really good memory (will remember ur name!), is susceptible to questions, and can be a bit comical at times. What else can I say?I love this guy!
Miljanic is a descent professors who knows the material. his online resources are helpful. Read the book and do many problems and you will definantly make at least a B.
Have many helpful materials. He is a great teacher. He is very helpful through emails and office hours. I missed many classes but he has many online resources to make it up.
Orgo is hard period. You have to work to earn your grade, it is not just the teacher. This is the first time i am taking orgo and I made an A in his class with heavy help of Textbook*, he has many online resources that very useful and convenient. He is good teacher. I started preparing for test like about 3 to 5 days early. I got B on 1st and 3
good teacher
I'll be straightforward. He is an okay teacher, but his exams are relatively easier than Bean's exams. I believe his grade scale is something like 75%-85% is B, 85-87 A-, 87+ is A. The first exam is easy so take advantage of it. The final was actually pretty easy too, just make sure you do a lot of problems. I ended up making a B.
i went to class every day and still didnt do well. i didnt learn anything in lecture i learned everything through my friend who was takin Dr. Bean. your best bet is taking Dr Bean no joke. Miljanic doesnt go in depth and goes fast so it makes it harder. KNOW YOUR REACTIONS FOR THE TESTS!!! i really wish i had dropped earlier. dont take him!!!
funny guy and very helpful in office hours. gives a 5 min break in his lectures. useful course website.
He teaches fast and doesn't go into detail bean is the best bet.
Awesome prof: funny, helpful, sticks to the textbook, posts his notes and reaaaally helpful tutorials online. And cute too :)
great professor
Prof Miljanic is a nice proessor. make sure you do the homework,in class quizzes and go through the old exams on the resource website and you should make at least a B. His only problem is that he does not use microphone, so you have to come early to class and sit at the front seats.
He really is a good teacher he uses microphone now and the lighting in the room is sort of fix yes do your homework and look at the website and yes look at the old test.
He is funny. Second time taking O chem because UH wont take HCC O chem credit towards a chem minor degree. Compare to other profs, his test is fairly easy. Read textbook, do questions. He sticks to the book.
Prof. Milijanic is super-helpful in his office hours. He stops in lecture to answer questions and makes pretty funny jokes. Love it!
Great organic professor! I had taken organic prior to taking it with Dr. Miljanic and he did an excellent job teaching the class. It is a good idea to attend class regularly since his test are based on the lectures.
Prof Miljanic was a "nice" professor till I had to take the final. The format the final took especially the reaction questions knocked me off because it differed from the format on the previous tests. His failure to tell the class what grade constituted an A,B,or C,cost me dearly. If I could turn back the hands of time,I would have taken someone else
I've read all the comments here and I wish I could agree with them. He may know his material, his quizzes are easy, but the point is, I can't understand him! His accent is thick and I found myself trying to sit near and near the board so I could hear him. He doesn't use a mic. It was horrible. I'd just hear people laugh and I'm like "what's funny!"
This Prof does not go in depth like Dr Bean. Though I registered for his class, I was attending Dr Bean's lectures to fully understand the material. The difference between them is that Bean is a better professor but his test are relatively much easier than that of Bean. Your chances of making an A is much brighter if you take him than taking Bean.
It's a tough class but I think he's pretty awesome. His lectures are clear and organized and he gives breaks in class and review sessions every week. His tests are slightly easier than Bean's but he doesn't curve them. You MUST attend class to do well! I went to both his and Bean's lectures and I think he's better. Awesome class website also!
His website has previous exams and quizzes as well as lecture notes which are very handy. His test are challenging but if you study his previous exams youll be fine. They are similar format. Overall, he is a great teacher.
This teacher is very mean and deosnt curve like he suppose to . cost me dearly
I am always A student but make B in his class, His accent is bad but the point is that he teach you easy stuff and ask yu the hardest one in the exam which is not fair , dont take a class with him ! His lecture are not usefull at all cause he never ask that type of question in his tests! but the quizzes are super easy !
Blackboard quizzes, one after each class (1 out of 28 gets dropped at the end of the semester). You have 24 hours to take the quiz, one attempt. Exams and final similar to what's on his website, but you must understand why you'e doing things in order to do well in this class. Study the book for the concept questions and use old exams as a guide.
Roughly one chapter covered each week, take the SEP workshop if you can. It's very helpful in ingraining orgo into you and forces you to do a little bit of ochem each day. You cannot cram for this course!!! EVERYTHING builds on one another. Oh, and if you miss any of the quizzes before the first midterm you get a 0 on the first midterm. One is drop
He was funny, but he changed the tests dramatically this semester, and he made them extremely harder than every old test before this, I have been a strait A student all my life, but I actually think I may make a B in this class. Even though the average is extremely low, he does not curve his tests. He does weekly reviews which are helpful.
He is funny, and is great overall. This year he changed the test format which was caused me to not do as well (A-). He also grades pretty hardly on the final, on regular tests he gives loads of partial credit. He does give some extra credit. Although he doesnt curve the average, he does slightly curve the scale.Advice:do great on test 1, it's easy
likes to surprise students on exams. doesnt give + or - with the final letter grade. very organized lectures. lectures are posted online. sometimes has bonus questions on his exams. exam are NOT predictable. class is not mandatory, but he does have a 4 question quizzes at the end of the lecture, due in 24hrs. made a B, even though i feel i got B+
His tests this semester seemed alot harder than the tests from previous semesters, and he changed the format of the 3rd and final exam, allowing internet which was very slow&gave connection problems, mainly on the 3rd exam, it was fixed by the final, but it just meant my 1 drop was for the 3rd which i wanted to drop the 1st which screwed my grade
His tests were much harder this semester. Allowed us to use the internet on the 3rd exam and final but it did not help at all as he cranked up the difficulty considerably. He is a fair grader, gives lots of partial credit. But to do well on the exams you will have to study VERY hard, do the textbook problems as well as the ones from workshop.
He grades fairly and explains clearly. No curve on tests but the overall grading scale is VERY friendly (50% for D). The tests get harder each year, so expect more difficulty than posted exams from previous years. He respects his students and is responsive to input. I rated "the usual" for easiness bc orgo is a weed out class.
The subject is hard & you HAVE to study. He takes his time during the lecture & would stop periodically to ask if anyone had questions before he went on. He has old exams available as well as his lectures online and does not expect you to memorize 10 pages worth of RXN's. Everyone glorifies Bean but I'd choose him over her any day!
I liked Dr. Milanic's class a lot although he increased the difficulty of exam 3 and final significantly this semester. The key to be successful is to read the book word to word, understand all concepts , know how to connect them and use them on the exam. 4 exams(1drop)-50%; quiz-11% 1 final -39%. TAKE THE WORKSHOP, it will help you!! Trust me
Very organized lectures and class website. Exams were a lot more difficult this year and seem to increase every year. Loves to surprise students on the exams but gives a ton of partial credit. He holds weekly review sessions which helped A LOT. Overall, great professor and would recommend him.
Great professor. if you follow along with the lectures and work all his past exams, do the homework problems he gives at the end of the lecture notes online, take the quizzes seriously, you will be fine, i promise! His test are not difficult once you have practice a lot! totally recommend taking him! no doubt! passing his class is very possible!
His tests will be harder every year, because he gives you all the old tests to practice. Take the quizzes, practice a lot, you will be fine. No more extra credits this semester !!!
This class was surprisingly easier than chemistry 2. Expect homework after every lecture, it's 4 questions and only attempt is permitted. The tests gradually gets harder, but you're allow to use your resources(internet)
Study notes and video lectures before class. It's virtually impossible to keep pace with his drawing skills while following along mentally. Notes are well made, but Bean's "Mad Minutes" come in more manageable chunks, each with teachable moments. In class practice and teacher's answers beat sol'n manuals imo. Test are murder. Seek help
Super hard class. BUT he is a very nice guy and gives great lectures, I actually enjoyed going to his class a lot, but OCHEM is tough, so prepare before heading to class, he has a webpage with online lectures, use it. But if you can avoid him, then do it, his tests are extremely hard.
Good professor. Although if you plan on taking ochem 2, he does not prepare you well for it. He had us use the internet so memorization of the reactions was not necessary, but it is for the ACS exam which you will take if you need to take ochem 2 (so any premeds). Dr. Bean is in my opinion better.
This class is a great class if you are interested in the energy industry. The group project will take you forever. So get a jump on it asap!!! The key to success in this class is taking good notes, and a good team for the group project. He never answers emails, but the TA does. Do not buy the books. It is a waste of money. We never used them
Took him for intro to energy and sustainability. Interesting lecturer and good looking too! Just take notes during his lectures and use old posted material for the tests. No final exam, just a final group project that the TA Jami completely handles. Online 4 question attendance quizzes after each class. Two extra credit opps also.
really good teacher and teaches with big words with a slight accent
Three test all are easy since they are repeat of online testbut changed quizes after each class.
I hated chem but this class is easier than bean after i swapped classes. He teaches in order and the quizzes really helped. 3 test one droped and final is repeat of test 3 mainly.
Best ochem professor! Geniuenly cares about students and is very intelligent. Hilarious as well, which makes lectures very enjoyable. Work hard and you will see it payoff. Work through book problems!
I went to class the first few weeks and stopped for the rest of the semester because his lectures are the exact same as the ones he post on his website. To be straight forward; if you want an A in this class,: 1) Keep up with lectures 2) Practice and understand materials the week of the test.
not a good professor, doesnt care for students and makes the tests harder each time. the final is basically the third test plus the lessons he teaches at the end of the semester. Go to class, watch the online videos and practice alot if you want to pass... i would rather take this class on a summer where i can dedicate my time to this
Really an awesome guy. Do not be fooled when he tells you that you can use the internet on the exams. You cannot find anything online! This was such a hard class because he will put things on exams that he said in passing while in lecture. His class takes a true understanding of ochem to pass. May the curve be ever in your favor!
Sure he lets you use the internet for the tests but is it a good idea? NO! Not only does it not help you, but it also makes u EXTREMELY unprepared for ORGO II if you choose to not memorize the reactions and such. His lectures were a complete waste of time and his tests were way harder than they should have been.
He is very knowledgable about Organic Chemistry. He is very straight forward in what he wants the students to know. If you check out his website at www chem3331 com it is SO helpful. He has every lecture posted and all previous tests to help prepare you for your test. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
He lets you use the internet on tests, but there's no point because it doesn't really help. His lectures in class are exactly like the ones he has online. The tests are extremely hard and even though he posts old tests, you still didnt know what to expect bc it gets harder each time. Quiz due day after every lecture. 3 tests, drop one.
U can learn more with a book He is not intuitive with his students U can tell he doesnt have the tools or passion for teaching Very bland not inspiring at all I approached him after a lecture asked abt a difficult concept he bluntly dismissed me saying I dont have time FOR THIS Go to ur book n look for it He DOES NOT CARE ABT UR SUCCESS OR FAILURE
Took this as the intro course for the E&S minor. Really great introduction to E&S. Attendance is not mandatory but lectures are very informative and enjoyable. HUGE group project so be prepared to work. Not an easy A course. 3 tests all open internet but extremely difficult and not normal questions you can just google. Great course!
Great chemistry professor. Posts lectures online and old tests. Says that you can use the internet on the test but its just a ruse. It really does not help. Study hard for his tests and DO THE QUIZES I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH!
He knows a lot about chemistry. The con part is that he makes difficult questions that is not covered in class and it changes every year. Allowed to use internet on the exam but it dont help. 3 exams but drops the lowest test grade
Is really a smart guy who knows alot about chemistry, the big downside though is that he doesn't go into much detail when he lectures so much is left on the student to teach themselves. Tests are difficult due to the details in the mechanisms . If you struggle with chem Clutchprep could be a helpful resource for this course along with study groups.
I didn't enjoy his teaching style. I could not understand his lectures. Its hard to ask him a question during class because he goes so fast. I would not take him again. His tests were unbearably hard. He wasn't helpful when you are struggling to understand the material.
His lectures are just him talking, mumbling, and writing on the board. So you learn absolutely nothing. He makes his test super hard on purpose, it's like he takes pride in students not being able to pass his tests. You do quizzes but they aren't very helpful in preparing you for the tests. Reading the book helps but it takes up more time.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER IF YOU ACTUALLY WANT TO LEARN! Repeat that to yourself. His lectures are pointless and you cannot ask questions. He is not helpful at all. His tests are impossible to pass and he knows it.
This professor sets up his students for failure. His lectures are good but doesn't prepare you for the exam. Exams are hard and at the level of PHD students not undergraduate. you'll only receive about 6 questions in each exam so if you miss one you are already failed. There is no curve. do not take him if you want to learn and have a fair GPA.
Orgo is a hard subject but he does his best to help out. He curves the grading scale and gives you homework worth a big chunk of the grade to help out. He puts his notes, lectures, reviews, and old exams online to help you learn. If you do a lot of practice problems and old exams youll be fine.
This is the hardest class I have ever taken. If you want to pass this class, you have to practice literally every day. The exams are easier than the other organic chemistry professor in my opinion so I only recommend to those who only need orgo1 or self-learners. Lectures follow the textbook so I skipped a lot. PREPARE TO DROP TEST 3
The professor shows no shred of passion for the subject. Never made the class feel exciting at all. Had high expectations for this subject and wanted to learn about something important to the world, but learned little to nothing. ALL EXAMS ARE OPEN INTERNET AND DO NOT COVER LECTURE CONTENT. Don't take if you actually want to learn something.
This is by far one of the worst professors I have ever taken. Organic chemistry is difficult, but doable. Professor Milijanic is the devil reincarnate, he is ruthless, rude, and inconsiderate of everyone around him. He makes the exams ridiculous and sets students up for failure, DO NOT TAKE HIM.
This class is not as hard as people make it out to be. Quizzes after every lecture (online), very easy. Worth 22%. Three midterms, lowest one dropped. Worth 24% each (total 48%). Final worth 30%. His lectures follow the notes on his website almost exactly, so attendance not needed. Old exams there too, new exams are very similar and therefore easy.
Advice on how to pass this class: 1) Follow along in the book, 2) take those quizzes seriously, they are worth the same as an exam (Open book, Open internet, At home quiz) 3) Do all of his old Exams for practice, study his Mechanisms / reagents he likes to re-use. 4) Understand trends (acidity, basicity, polarity), 5) He may curve grades, Gluck.
His lectures don't help at all.
Dr. Miljanic is pretty funny in his lectures, but he moves really fast. Orgo is rough regardless of the prof, but he is not helping students in any particular manner. There is a curve at the end of the course, but the tests are not curved individually. He is not helpful in his office hours. He likes to pull test questions straight from the book.
This class is hard in general, I will advise you to practice the old exams that he provides as much as you can, listen to his online recorded lecture, do the quizzes and try not to miss any answers, listen to his lecture in class and take good notes and you can make an A. I am not saying it's impossible to get an A but you have to work hard for it.
Very tough professor, but quizzes are 73% of the class grade so you are guaranteed to pass.
He's actually one of the best professor to take for Orgo. The majority of your grades is the quizzes, do those, they help. i took him for online class, only 3 exams. third one was the final. His exam are not hard just understand the concept.
I highly recommend taking his course online. His quizzes were worth 71%, first exam 9%, second exam 9%, and the final was 11%. I found his lectures interesting and never skipped class. Take the IDNS workshop with this class to get extra practice. Study weeks before exams instead of waiting last minute.
I hear his class is pretty hard outside of the current circumstances (corona), but this semester he was very considerate and the class wasnt too bad. 71 percent of the class was quizzes you could take again and again for a 100. If you only did the quizzes youd still pass the course. I wish he taught orgo in the spring :(
Wow, this class was set up for me to succeed! 71 quizzes, all 1%. 2 exams and one final. The final was not weighted heavily. I learned mostly by the quizzes and self study. The lectures were alright. The structure of the class was amazing! If you did quizzes you passed. I learned so much from this class. You must take this professor. GREAT JOB!!!
AMAZINGGGG
The easiest professor for organic chem for sure. His grading scale are phenomenal and I feel like that is what makes you learn more overall. 71% are quizzes grade and the other percentage are for test. Unlimited attempt for quizzes and if you score an 87.5% overall grade your grade is an A. Must take this class
When I first enrolled in this course, it was due to his scores and reviews. However, I came to realize that the great scores and reviews are from semesters where the school was impacted by COVID. This course only has exams for grades. The exams are difficult problems compared to what is taught in class. Be prepared to dedicate lots of time to this.
I have to create an account to write a review about this Professor. The only okay semester was during Covid. After that, the class was constructed with 3 tests and one final. Will not tell you what to prepare for test except studying everything in the textbook. And doing that will not guarantee a good grade as only 1 question will show up in tests.
One of the worst classes I have taken (no exaggeration). Exam averages were consistently below 50%. He provides no study material except for the textbook. This class is 0% homework, 100% exams. You will basically have no clue what to expect on the exam so good luck.
The absolute WORST professor. Deserves a .2/5 for not caring about his students. His sympathy for his students flew out the window once we went back in to in-person classes. The 1st day of class he said someone left a review saying he was the devil reincarnated, yeah well hes THAT and worse. Never take this professor unless you hate your life.
This dude is straight garbage. Graded 100% on exams. He chooses the HARDEST possible questions to put on there and expects you to work out every single textbook problem. Unclear grading scale. If you wanna save your gpa don't take his class. UH chem department is trash but take Dr. Bean if you can. She at least curves the grades.
This professor could not care less about his students. He more than likely has tenure and he treats teaching as a nuisance that he has to deal with to get to his paycheck. Emphasizes textbook problems but only puts 1 on the test out of 300. Gives you nothing to practice off of apart from past exams which are a somewhat accurate rep of the test.
worst prof ever
Do not take this prof. He doesnt care about his students and gives you no study criteria at all. He expects us to work out every single textbook problem (there are hundreds) yet he only ends up putting one or two of them on exams anyways- usually the hardest ones. His lectures are mostly unhelpful and barely help. Definitely avoid if possible.
No good things to say about him Worst prof Ive ever taken Im a straight A and B student so no I wasnt a bad student All of his ratings are wrong theyre all just bc of Covid All grades are only from exams, no hwk,no quizzes My advice if no other choice wait for another prof Do not take him and run far run fast
Do not take him if you love yourself. He doesnt care about his students and regularly ignores emails. The test averages are in the 30s and 40s and he does not curve! He provides no study material and expects you to do hundreds of textbook problems. Blames students for failing and punishes us by taking away past exams. Major lack of communication.
Avoid him at all costs! Spends more time on twitter than teaching and communicating to students.
He under explains concepts that he expects you to be a master at in exams, hes sort of a nice guy, until he berates your whole class for making an F to D average on exams that hes responsible for making. If you take him get ready to stay up late at night studying your lecture notes, just to realize he tests concepts touched on in lecture once.
His grade is massively boosted by Covid. Grades are 100% exams He doesnt Curve Averages after the first test were below 50 Half the class failed Goodluck Charlie
So his lectures are tolerable and he is fairly entertaining and knows his stuff but he doesnt want his students to succeed. The test averages declined over the semester and when the third exam average was 33%this dudehe didnt even ACKNOWLEDGE it. He put in the final grade without giving us or exam scores back and pretty much dipped.
IF you care about your future, do not take this guy. There are three exams only and no homework, no study guide because everything he taught is a "fair game." Over 2/3 of the class dropped. The rest got Cs. Organic is a complicated subject, therefore, do not risk your GPA. If you want to go through a breakdown, just pick this professor.
the worst prof i've taken at UH. the good reviews are from when everything was online. graded 100% on exams, no other assignments & he makes his exams extremely hard. refused to curve seeing his students were averaging in the 30s. took his past exams away from us even tho they were the most helpful when it came to studying for his exams. RUN
Class averages for the 2nd and 3rd midterms were 50 and 30 respectively. Did not curve. Refused to say what the average for the final was and refused to acknowledge questions regarding a curve. Other ochem professors like Bean lower the grading scale and curve with easier exams but not this specimen of a human. Don't take him unless you hate life.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. He is not transparent with his students. There is no homework and your grades are based on 3 tests and a final. His grading scale is unfair and he does not give a curve. The test averages were failing. He did not even inform us that our official grades were in the gradebook. He doesn't seem to care about his students.
I rather get hit in the ankle with a scooter 100 times than to ever take this professor ever again
3 tests + final. class avg. 35, gave us all F's instead of curving. ignores emails. 2nd exam avg. 43, took down his practice exams bc apparently that's all we chose to study. 3rd exam avg. of 33, still couldn't take responsibility. final exam review session was embarrassing. refused to own any part of his class's poor performance. take Bean/Olaf
This is BY FAR THE WORST PROFESSOR EVER. This man does not care about students' success and focuses on making the class harder rather than the success of the students. He should not be allowed to teach. The grades are only based on the 4 exams with the final being 40% of the grade. take this class if you hate yourself and want to hate yourself more
His grade is based solely on exams. He does have a YouTube channel with pre-recorded lectures that are exactly like his in-person lectures, however, goes into a little more detail in the videos. His office hours are definitely helpful if you are having trouble understanding the material. An overall nice professor, but, as expected, a tough class.
He teaches the class very well and answers questions inside and outside of class, but the problems that are done in class and in the textbook are always easier than on the test and it seems like he wants the class to fail the test.
DO TEXTBOOK PROBLEMS AND YOURE GOOD IN CLASS. An awesome professor but his teaching method is kinda superficial (doesnt go in depth). If u take him be ready to pay attention to the lectures and read text books.
I thought he could teach pretty well, it's just that tests are far more difficult than in-class examples or quizzes. It's important to go through textbook problems and study a tonnnn to pass his course. Average for every test was below a 70, yet did not necessarily "curve". All he did was lower the range of each letter grade by about 2~3 points.
He is a great professor and enjoys to teach the organic chemistry course and always helpful out of class.
Ognjen Miljanic is a great professor. He always arrived to class on time and dressed his best. He is very easy to follow so long as you are actually willing to put in the work on your own time as well. He offered everyone 5 minute breaks in the middle of the class which was extremely beneficial. Plus, he is overall a very nice guy and intelligent.
If you know what you are doing this professor is for you, if not then he is not. His teaching is not great,he seems to not be able to "dumb it down" enough or at least not enough. Exams are harder than class examples so look at past exams on his website and you'll do fine. Chemistry is Life, so breath it, dream it, eat it, and you'll get a B.
I know he likes and know the topics but he doesn't know how to teach, he talks too fast and it is impossible to follow him unless you know the topic before. Test questions are way heavier than the exercises he does in class, also his review class before each test is not helpful because he just repeats the exercises of class (the easy ones).
Professor Miljanic definitely knows his stuff but he is not a good lecturer in my opinion. Very dry teaching method and when I met with him for office hours he made me feel dumb when I didn't know something and can have an attitude at times. His exams are extremely difficult and sometimes inconsistent with what is being taught. Please choose Bean.
A great professor over all, not quite sure why there are so many bad reviews, the exams were reasonable, he was very accessible outside of class and always willing to help and answer questions. He teaches differently on some topics than other professors and in my opinion it is easier. 10/10!
Dr. Miljanic is a great professor who breaks down difficult concepts into easy to understand portions and was always available to help out his students, even setting up extra online review sessions before the exams. He would also give a 5 minute break in each class and post his old tests with answer keys online for practice.
the worst prof i've taken at UH.
Your grade is 100% your tests. You take 4 tests graded out of 300 pts each and one drops at the end of the year and that's it. You get what you get. No homework, quizzes, nothing. His lectures are long and boring, he's funny, but won't help in office hours. He doesn't post notes, he doesn't post grades until the course is done. Absolutely not.
Great professor who cares about students' understanding. Always available for help and class prepares you for his exams. Attendance isn't mandatory but it makes a world of difference. There's no reason not to attend; He's an engaging lecturer. Free access online textbook. 1 midterm is dropped. You will pass if you're not lazy.
I hate this professor. If you have any dignity you will never take this professor ever. There are so many better options. Maybe just don't take organic chemistry at all. Seriously, change your major. You're welcome for the advice.
Idk why his rating is so low. Having took Olaf (+ by extension Young, since they shared exams) last semester, Miljanic is my favorite (handwriting notes instead of a fill in packet so you actually learn). He gives you everything to succeed (free textbook, but you must go to lectures). IMO most 1* ratings are unprepared/haters. Yes its still hard,GL
Organic chemistry is one of the most difficult undergraduate classes, but professor Milijanic is an INCREDIBLE instructor. His lectures are heavy but concise- he only test on topics he covers. His office hours are flexible and extremely helpful. I recommend signing up for SEP as well. You HAVE TO STUDY to pass!
This class is very difficult by itself. Dr. Miljanic does an amazing job explaining hard concepts and preparing you for what the test is. He answers every question in class thoroughly and writes thorough notes for each unit. Lectures are not recorded, so strongly recommend attend every lecture! Tests are exactly what he teaches in class.
I think they were great! OChem won't be an easy class regardless of who you take it with, but I think Dr. Miljanic made the concepts simple to understand. Textbook is helpful if you miss lecture. Office hours are (essentially) 24/7, and tests are directly reflective of lecture material
Organic Chemistry is a difficult topic in and of itself, but Dr. Miljanic does an incredible job engaging with the class and making the material as straight forward and digestible as possible. 100% the professor I would advise anyone take if you need to take Chem 2323. Study past exams, textbook problems and FLASHCARDS. Almost became a chem major.
I really enjoyed taking this professor. He posts his previous exams which are very similar to the ones we received with only one or two questions throwing a bit of a curve ball. He is a great lecturer and I wish that I attended them more he makes topics easy to digest and what he lectures tends to be what is primarily on the exam.
The class is only the exams. I struggled with the exams because there are only a few questions, and getting even 1 wrong gets you a B. When I took it, he had just switched books, so the previous year's exams were of no use. Overall, it's organic chemistry that's hard, but Dr. Miljanic, for his part, gave amazing lectures.
