Teacher Is awesome.... hes into his craft and gives out exampples that will appear on test... I repeat, will appear on test........... Study all problems and your grade will be an A!!!!
Not bad at all, tells you what you need in class. Dont need the vook. Class notes are good enough. Got a B, and always studied at the last minute.
not very hard to understand, dont buy the book. pretty easy. do all your work which is not hard and u can get a B. better than anyone else in the dept.
Great Professor, has lots of knowledge. Study the notes and work the homework problems and you'll get an A!
HE is a GREAT TEACHER! I loved his class! He is very funny and he tries to know all of his students. Listen to him and you will do good in his class. I made a B. I studied all reviews and problems. I took him for money and banking so he kinda baby's you since its the first finance class. BUt no DOUBT I wish there were more teachers like him!
Awesome professor!!! If you dont mind coming to class everyday and being put to work then Professor O is your guy. I am not a real math person, but he made me interested in finances and he kept the class going. I took him in summer and he kept us every bit of those two hours. So if you cant attend class everyday you will be lost!!!
Class was interesting, but then got harder. He does a good job of trying to explain the procedures, but then test problems were just a bit different. He does keep you for all the class period, and attendance is a must. Gives extra credit, so you still have a good chance of making a good grade. I would recommend him, better than other finance profs.
He is by no means easy. The class is very good but also keep in mind, very difficult.
Great professor in terms of teaching ability and dedications. Worst professor in terms of respects, testing, and trusts. He have a BIG issue with cheating and he gets angry when students don't do well. You'll $h!t bricks taking his test! (READ HIS TESTS CAREFULLY - VERY TRICKY) Overall, I highly recommends him, but not for slackers.
Took him for Seminar in Finance. I personally think he is one of the best professors at UHD, he actually knows his stuff and is very enthusiastic. He gives you HW, along with 2 Tests & 1 Final. The Final is comprehensive. The test questions are tricky, so read carefully. He makes the class very interesting & is available for help.
I took him for Money& Banking, online, as a business elective.I'll admit that finance is not my thing, but this class seemed exceptionally difficult. The tests are on campus and I found them tricky and v. hard.I hear if you take him F2F he explains the concepts, but to teach yourself and know what to study, it was hard. Also have to write a 15p paper
This guy is an awesome professor! I though he was going to be a pain in the @ss at 1st, then I realized that he is an awesome teacher, ...and VERY funny too (once you get to understand his humor). Highly Recommended! Explains things very well, just don?t miss class and pay attention!
I have this professor for FIN 3301 and 3302. I left my review on 11/30/10 for his 3301 class. His 3302 class is different, he is not as bad. But he still degrades his students when they ask questions. He purposely tries to trick his students on exams. Material is not hard, you can teach yourself from the book. Easy A, maybe B.
His tests are tricky, and can cause you a lot of stress on exams. Book is not needed, but you should study his PowerPoint and chapter summaries for the key term problems on his test which are very tricky. He lectures in a loud tone as if he were yelling, but he is a funny man with a sense of humor. If you can, form a study group because it helps.
Great teacher. He is very clear about the material and encourages students to do well. You dont even need your book because he gives out questions and handouts for every chapter. The material itself is not hard to understand. You just need to apply yourself....
Awesome professor! Very funny and explains concepts clearly. But u cant afford to miss his class.Exams are from questions covered in class, reviews and homewks.I studied last min before exams but did all the assignments and made A.The final is comprehensive and all application so if you didnt get the concepts in earlier chapters u will b lost
Very smart and passionate about teaching finance, however, his exams are very tricky. no books necessary, but class is NOT for slackers!
Dr. Paskelian is a great professor and knows what he's teaching. Class was fun and interesting and exams were a bit tricky. He will give you multiple opportunities for extra credit.
Hes a good professor, knows what he wants and expects you to learn and do the work. Very clear and wants his students to ask and interact in lectures.
This is my 3rd class with this professor and all follow a pattern. Classes are very intense, exam times are too short for the amount of computations required, and spend the entire semestser stressed out. Many people fail exams, but at the end of the semester he curves grades, which is counterproductive. If only he would add 30 mins more to exams.
Simply easy, straight forward type of professor. He understands that finance is hard. Doesn't like to give you stuff that you should not really know. Give out review sheets before the exams. He has 3 exams and a final. The lowest from the exam is dropped. No need for a book. Save like $90? 5 summary very short "5 sentences" that's it an A!
You will get an A if you do all the work, attend the classes and do the problems he assigns. He is very helpful and explains very well. I would definitely take another course with him.
Professor Pakelian is a great professor. He has an accent and talks fast but he explains the material thoroughly and will go over it. Took him this sum, got an A. No textbook needed, 3exams lowest dropped and final. I would recommend him. He's funny and interesting. Go to class and pay attention. U should do fine. The material isn't hard at all.
I've taken Dr. Paskelian for 3 finance courses now and I love his classes. He gives you the material to review for exams. Answers all questions right away and is very prompt when it comes to grading. The material is not easy at all (it is Finance) but if you ask he will explain! Just complete all HW assignments, term papers and ask questions!
this was an online course so your pretty much on your own. all exams are through connect and are time consuming. also requires 2 papers, oral presentation, 2 homework assignments, and an ethics test. not the easiest class but passable good luck he is the only professor that teaches this course.
HW is effortless work. Test are multiple choice and test are based on solving for the answer and understanding the concept he teaches in class. An average of 20 questions each test(10/10). Put effort and you will pass. The class would seem more interesting to you if you like working with numbers and wish to learn how banks flow their money.
Any question, he would answer thoroughly, walking you through the steps of the equation. Sometimes slow to answer email. Grades very fair! 3 papers required for this course and pretty much as long as it was on time & covered the requirement, you got a 100!
Dr. Paskelian is a GREAT professor. He makes his dorky little jokes which helps keeps students awake during a 2hr and 45min class and the material was not very hard. He does his best to explain the subject and answer all questions. I will definitely take him again. Take him if you want to get an A!
If you fail this class its because you were not going to class and not doing the assignments. He is a very good professor and if you do the homework (which are pretty close to the test questions) then you will do fine. Offers extra credit and always tries to keep the class involved.
He explains very well but this is a hard class, you have to study a lot to pass. Take it online if you don't want to study hard.
Tough grader. Very tricky questions. Expects everybody should know the answer. No book required. DO NOT MISS CLASS.
Summer class was quick and easy, straightforward exams from homework questions.
From a grad student with a 3.9 GPA with 2 courses until completion. So please take this into consideration regarding the rating. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR if you can help it. He will teach how to solve problems in a particular manner throughout the term and then to purposely lower averages change those methods on exams.
Used myfinancelab for all assignments, good program. Class was difficult for me because my undergrad degree was NOT in business. Material was foreign to me but, I passed with a "B". Tests are timed, 2 hours. I needed more time testing, again, my background is NOT business.
He's a very good professor! His lectures are very helpful for the homework that follows after it. He explains everything so well and doesn't move on until everybody fully understands the material, so ask questions! I definitely recommend him.
i took him online, but his test are hard. the final so hard and not enough time specially all questions are too long . he thinks student should be fast and smart like him. i am great in Finance but the final was hard and long.
Best finance Professor at UHD. Always ready to help, will help you after class if you need help, attendance is not mandatory but attend class if want to make an A.
Very clear on the requirements, uses My Pearson Lab for the course which is easy to use. Videos explain the course material well. Follow the instructions and do the assignments on time.
There are 3 tests in which the lowest grade is dropped and the final. If you read, go to class, and watch his videos he makes you will pass. His test are not hard and he does give homework but it is not difficult if you put effort. He never missed a class and responded promptly when I would email him. I recommend him to anybody.
Weekly assignments and tests but with enough effort it's not hard to get good grades. He's very accommodating and tries to help students.
Tests are very similar to homework, no text book needed. Everything you need is to go to the class and get A.
I took this course in winter term. Tests and final come from homeworks, just study the homework problems and you'll do very well, everything from assignments.
Professor Paskelian is the best professor I've had at UHD. Test are over homework and what he goes over in class. Clear grading criteria. I would definitely take him again. No textbook needed.
Class overall is hard and he doesn't make it any easier! Test are hard. No curves! Papers, 3 exams, homeworks! Tutoring helped me more than him!
Hard grading criteria! He doesn't take time to explain things, expects you to know it!
Dr Paskelian is by far one of the best professors I had at UHD ! You have to attend class to pass the class, or you will get lost. Watch his videos cause MP questions come from the videos. Practice the problems and make sure you solve the mock exam that he posts on BB. He breaks down every problem he does in class. You cant fail his class.
Homework is on Connect. This is where you will learn the material. Connect has hints & video lectures for almost every problem. The lectures are step by step and you get to try HW problems over and over until you get a 100%. Easy even if you struggle with math. As for the test, I'd advise you keep note of your HW problems and just study those.
Excellent teacher. He is sure to go over many examples in class and gives you plenty of practice problems in addition to the text book problems. Key to passing his exams is to review all problems he assigns. The class I took was a hybrid and the prof. has videos for every chapter assigned. Singed up for three more classes with him next semester.
Adv. Financial Mgt. Hybrid; Great professor!! His face-to-face lectures are exciting. He does go fast in person! However he goes very slow and step-by-step in all his videos. Each chapter has a video. He noticed which problems we suffered on in Test 2 and he made them easier on the Final. He allows 1 note sheet on tests. No tricks.
Taken over the winter mini-mester. Subject matter is not difficult, but there is A LOT of homework. 3 HW assignments consisting of 60+ questions each, 1 Midterm, and the Final Exam. You have 2 attempts for each HW assignment on Connect. Great professor, responds promptly to emails. Midterm is online with notes, Final at Testing Center no notes.
Took him for the mini semester, lot a homework but double, this class is not easy so be ready to study, mid term open notes on connect. Final 1 doubled side sheet formula taken on campus. Test questions come from homework, smart learn and book chapters. Reply quickly to emails, but is kind of rude. he gave us a little curve .
The worst class I have ever taken! His tests are SUPER hard! There are only 4 case assignments and two midterms and one final. I would advise you not to take this course. I have taken other Finance courses and never struggled like this before. He does not explain anything just gives the answers to end of chapter solutions. Plus he is rude in emails
He has a very unique sense of humor. Explains fast but you can always go and study the videos. Test are similar to mock test, so there is not surprise on the test.
This is the most toughest professor Ive ever had at UHD. I had to take his class twice failing the first time. He does not give extra credit even if you request for it. He sticks to his grading outline on the syllabus. Its not just me. I have seen other students in the same boat struggling in this class with this professor.
This class was awful! Took it during summer and we had 4 homework assignments, 2 tests, 1 final that was worth 40%. Professor had to curve or else I'm assuming most of the class would've failed since a lot of us received C's!!!!
I took this class in summer, this professor will make you work for ur grade and this class consisted of 4 HW, 2 exams, and 1 final. Final was similar to the all the assignments given, but definitely not the same, if you don't truly understand the concepts you will fail the final. I failed the final with a 46, still passed. Use CHEGG! GET AN ACCOUNT
Took in winter mini term. Formula heavy, keep track of these for your final. Use Chegg from the beginning it helps you understand how to solve problems better than book. Homework will take a long time to complete but not hard. Midterm and final are only 20 questions each. Final is comprehensive. NO EXTRA CREDIT! What you earn is what you get!
Not a bad professor to take if you can teach yourself. He gives chapter videos that teach you a little, but you will have to research how to solve most problems. Tests are almost identical to the study material he provides, so practice those problems. 3 homework assignments, 3 exams, and a final that is worth 40% of your final grade.
Does absolutely nothing and teaches nothing. gives 3 homework assignments with no clear guidance and are just pulled from the textbook. has 3 tests and gives a final that's 40 percent of your grade. most of the class had an A and failed the cumulative exam. constantly says that the class average is good when its below 75. what a waste of money.
Just do the work and you will pass nothing is online but you u can find how to solve examples the class is self-taught which help me cause hate being bothered he drops the lowest grade, gives reviews that are exactly like exams , no webcam
only 3 hw assignments, and has zoom lectures uploaded where he goes over the content, and how to work out some of the hw problems. zoom lectures are VERY HELPFUL. only 3 exams and final(40%) . the mock exams/reviews he provides are very helpful. As long as you study, you will pass his class. Recommend him! Need a finance calculator.
Taking this professor for summer, he is excellent! I have a group chat with other students who complain about him but they just want someone to hold their hand? This is a university course, not for everyone. He gives 2 exams and a final with 4 easy homework assignments which he grades and shows how to solve which comes in handy for his exams.
Took FIN3301 in the winter; 4 homework assignments, Midterm and a Final Exam. You can use your notes on both for an easy A! Exams are just like the homework problems just different numbers and names. Recommend taking him whenever possible.
Professor Paskelian is a great professor. I took his International Finance class 4303, and when I first started the course I thought, oh well this is going to be a tough course but I was wrong. Yes, the material is math-heavy but he will slowly guide you through it. You will learn to understand foreign currency on a whole different level with him.
Professor was ok. Gave the entire class a 10 point curve so my D became a C. There where only 4 homework assignments. Homework was only 10 % of grade. exam 1 and exam 2 was 50 % of the grade. The final exam was 40% of the entire grade. In short, this class was test heavy and if you are not good at taking test then don't take him.
I took this class fully online. Professor Paskelian provides prerecorded lecture videos, summary pages, and PowerPoint slides for each chapter. Watch/read all resources, you should be able to do well in the class. There are 3 homeworks, 2 tests on lockdown browser and 1 final exam. He did provide a curve which was great ! Recommend this professor !
I came back after not being in school for 3 years and this was such an easy class. I love math, so equations were easy for me. Everything was done through connect and you were given examples. I made a 99.45 for my final grade.
Summer online. 4 Hws, 2 Tests (lockdown), and a Final (proctored) are all you have to be graded on. I recommend watching the lectures to understand the material. He also explains HW problems after the due date. He also gave us practice tests to work on, and it helped me. He allowed a formula sheet and notes on the final. I would take him again.
I watched his additional online lectures before class time and those helped understand the material better. 5 hws that weren't hard, use your notes from class. Tests were literally the practice tests he provides just different numbers so study them well!! he allows a formula sheet for every test and final so take advantage of that.
Great professor!! You have to study, a lot, but he is a great instructor! You actually understand the information and that is the best feeling ever! I would definitely take him again! Great job!
HW 15% unlimited attempts, Midterm 40% lockdown w/ webcam (15Qs), Final 45% testing center or proctorU (15Qs). Never used the text book, notes allowed on tests, made an by studying HW and mock tests provided by professor. Easy A if you're decent with formulas. Took as a winter mini.
He has videos on the chapters and then videos on the homework. You have to do the homework and mock exams/tests to understand the class. His grading is test heavy. I took him in a winter mini so maybe he relaxed on the amount of question, not sure. It is time consuming, it does require time management and dedication to pass the class with an A.
I shocked when I found out math was involved! Anything math is my worst subject ever and this class was not left behind. His video lectures sure did help me a lot. He goes over a lot of the problems on the lectures. Open book open notes on the final exam which you have to take at the testing center. I am just glad I am done with this.
Took him for Summer mini course. Final is 40% of your grade, midterm is 30%, and the rest is divided among the (4) homework assignments. HW is on Connect and can be completed during the free 2 week trial. Take notes on the HW. Exams are similar, just different numbers. Allowed handwritten notes for both exams.
Easy A+, I took the class during a summer mini and received a 100 on all assignments and tests. 4 HW assignments on connect, midterm, and a final. Midterm and final are multiple choice. They are exactly like the HW with numbers changed. Unlimited handwritten notes for the tests, so I just wrote out my HW assignments and used them for the tests.
Finished taking summer session 1. His layout is 4hw assignments, 2 tests-25% of grade and a final worth 40%. The tests are lockdown browser w/ camera and final is proctored w/ camera. Each exam/final is timed 2hrs and 15 word problems m/c. I could have done better if I took the 16wk course. Very hefty in summer and missing a day can jeopardize you.
Continued from previous post: No need to buy textbooks. Professor posts many resources and lectures. Watch his zoom videos on each chapter and write each problem down to succeed. Any amount of handwritten notes is allowed for the test and final. Make sure to buy his specified calculator (BAII plus or HP 10 BI), he has tutorials for those. Take him.
Took him for FIN4309 summer 5 wk course. Since it's only 5 weeks it is A LOT of learning. He doesn't cover every chapter & he will skip around stuff that is sometimes on the exam which is his only downfall. 4 homework assignments, 2 exams & 1 final. Exams are open notes which helped so much. Watch his lectures & practice the homeworks & mock exams.
5-week mini. 4 HW assignments, 2 exams (open note), 1 final (cumulative, open note). Didn't use the textbook. Watch his lectures, WRITE your notes, take & review the mock exams and HW (solutions posted after they're due), and you'll be good for the exams. The material IS difficult but 100% doable. Added a curve to final course grades too.
8 week: Have the expectation that you will teach yourself the material and will also self revise your homework. Hw grade will always be a 100 just because you submitted it on time, not because your work was spotless. He provides videos to help you, but don't expect him to teach you anything, he just grades. Two tests 15 Qs and final worth 40% grade
Very unrealistic for an 8 week session. Rubric was 40% midterm, 15% homework and 45% final. His exams were 15 questions long, so if you failed the midterm you failed the course, as simple as that. He provides videos so you are expected to self teach the material self revise your homework, he just grades. Gets annoyed if you ask a question. Avoid.
The absolute worse professor ever. Does not give extra credit even though everyone is failing the class When asked for help on what to study for final he responds with "watch my videos" but they aren't helpful Attended tutoring and even they were confused at times since he puts down wrong answers Please do not take
Great professor. Took him for 3 classes. No extra credit, but expectations are clear and he is always there to provide additional help when needed. Checks to see if students are comprehending throughout lecture, and will repeat as needed. Homework assignments are reviewed weekly in class and are very similar to exams. All exams are open note. 10/10
HW is only 10% grade, 2 exams, final. Gives plenty of videos and practice for tests. Answers questions if needed. NO extra credit, does curve final grade. Very communicative. For a full semester class, you have plenty of time for other classes if you take this one. Open notes on ALL tests. Uses lockdown & ProcturU or testing center at UHD for final
I have 5 wk in summer and he has 2 test 1 final in-person. Strictly grader, I never take hem again
Connect textbook was $200 for the mini mester, so just do the free trial. HW will still be accessible after expired. Class would be better if there were more points or had a longer session but mini was the only option. Self paced learning, just do 75 Connect hw problems and memorize the steps for midterm/final. You're on your own most of the time.
Continued: He's not generous with grades/extensions. We had a tornado, and he only gave us a day extension while many of us didn't have power for days. He only gives curve on the final if no one gets 100. 75 hw questions have to be memorized just for only 15 of them to be on the midtem/final. 3 out of 15 questions are concepts that are luck based.
Only 7 assignments. Tests were only 15 questions and super difficult. No homework or quizzes to help your grade. Only 3 tests that weighted a lot. Will never take this professor again. Offers no extra credit.
In his own words, "Everything I write on the board can be on your test." You can buy a book, but it is not required since he is a co-author. Be sure to attend class and use his prior exams as a study guide; it helps! Please take advantage of his office hours!
The class is challenging, but the professor provides plenty of support. Watch the video lectures, handwrite notes, and use unstuck study for exam prep - it really helps break down the material. Open-note exams make it doable if you put in the work.
Asynchronous. Very responsive and communicates well. 4 Hwk assignments, 2 tests, 1 cumulative final. Formula heavy. Pay attention to question wording. Final = 40% semester grade. Must review videos, homework examples and practice tests in order to pass. Use textbook as a reference/supplement. Dedicate plenty of time to this course to pass.
I would DEFINITELY take him again! As long as you view his video lectures, take your notes, you will do FINE! Open notes for tests. I couldn't ask for a better teacher because he is very smart and knowledgeable. I actually learned A LOT in this class with how to do calculations. YOU WONT REGRET TAKING HIM!!
He expects you to come to class(online), but you should also watch the recordings after class. Homeworks are a participation grade and solutions are posted after the due date. 2 tests(50%) Homework(10%) and Final(40%). Overall it was ok, but those tests can make or break it for you, so really try to understand the concepts.
There are 2 exams, final exam, homework every week, and an essay. He is very loud when he teaches and mandatory attendance. I do advice you to show up to his classes and take very good notes. If you did miss class, there are videos in canvas to help you understand. He does allow 1 sheet (front and back) to bring for exams and 3 for the final exam.
Prerecorded lectures, easy to follow along. Lots of formulas to use, but allows personal notes for exams. Exams are only thing graded, so be sure to prepare for exams. As long as you understand how and when to use correct formulas, should do fine. seems caring for students. Be mindful of a slight an accent in lectures.
He locks the door at start time and says he will not let anyone in afterwards (he does but makes a scene each class). No bonus points, dropped grades or curve. Most of us took his class because it was the only one offered at the time. Register well in advance to avoid this professor at all costs. Not a bad person just lacks intrapersonal skills.
He is very loud, tells a lot of irrelevant stories about the lottery?? All the homework has to be handwritten, overall you will be mainly graded on tests so be mindful you understand the material. He has pre recorded lectures but ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. I would recommend taking another professor if you can.
Hardest class I have EVER taken!! Avoid if possible!! 4 homework assignments, 2 exams, and a final. The study guides he provided were NOTHING like the exams. Homework is difficult and the exams are 10x harder. No extra credit given. Very misleading prep & I'm pretty sure half of the class had to retake this course.
The grading rubric for this class is very exam heavy, 80% is exams. He graded the homework's' and paper lightly but you never knew if it was right or wrong. I wouldn't recommend this professor if you don't do well with exams. He sounds rude too, I think he forgets students are students, he needs to give accurate exam reviews.
He made learning harder than it was supposed to be. The final did not cover every chapter like he claimed it would. It is only 7 chapters but a lot of complex material is covered. Exam reviews arent up to date, conceptual questions aren't properly written. This class was a nightmare, made me question my career path and major.
The class consisted of 2 exams (open book), 4 homework assignments, and a final. There was no review, or clarity when it came to reviews. My advice would be to watch the lectures, take notes, and review the homework as part of your studies. Pretty sure almost everyone failed this class or passed with a C. Do not recommend at all.
