A hardass that seems very sure of himself and his abilities but doesn't make much effort to make sure others feel the same. He's teching method is one of intimidation. I'd suggest you be willing to study your ass off befor chosing him as a proffessor. Overall effective if don't care for high marks.

He tells it the way it is - first day of class he told us to "prepare to die". If we couldn't do that, then the class wasn't for us. He's a smart man, however does not give clear answers and is very intimidating. In the end he wasn't too bad, but then again, i was prepared to die!!!
Among the best profs teaching ITM. He's incredibly smart. Talk to him outside the class, he's very personable. He will remember your name. After only one class he knew mine! Tough marker, but he forces you to do your best! And you DO KNOW the material after his class! We need more like him!
OJ tells it like it is. His biggest thrill is giving his students the ability to analyze & strategize "outside the box". "Prepare to die" was his fav line, and its true. Tough marker, but you learn more from him than any other prof in ITM. Nice guy, tough but fair, brings in tons of experience.
Although he may know his stuff, he can't teach it very well.
I dropped this class after 3 weeks! IF you want to be in bootcamp, then you can carry on. He is like Hitler: he is a dictator and then brainwashes you to believe that all the stuff he says is true and good for you.

He's a tough guy, but he gets you ready for the real world. Your boss is not going to spoonfeed you, why should he? He's real, and he's actually a generous marker (contrary to popular belief). If you have him, you'll be "ready to die"..it's a good thing
Seems tough but a great prof who cares about his students
NO feedback on any of the materials submited! Worry about the report he says! Basically don't bother looking at the course outline because he has one of his own. Be ready to DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is a very intimidating teacher, but gets u ready for the real world. Suprisingly he is a very easy marker. Class average on the report was higher than any other class.
How does he get away with talking to students like this? No excuse for this kind of behaviour. Someone is going to scream to the Dean.
he's a freaken dictator, another hitler, I switched out of his class to go into barat shah's class, and i tell him to remove me from his list, he responds back by calling me a freaken chicken.., how is that being respectful?, missed the first class and he says i will likely fail if i don't submit the assignment.., wtf is that crap..awful..awful....
tough, but knows what he's doing. really wants you to learn and not just get by (like most of the other prof's at ryerson.) if you put in the work, you'll really see the difference in what you walk away with versus the other sections.
I read these comments and they're really making me laugh. 1. OJ Doesn't spoon feed you 2. He marks well because the reports are quality 3. he's willing to meet up with his students in amsterdam if he's in the area. overall, a wicked prof and i learned a ton
Best ITM Prof!!! He gives real value to the $$$ paid for school. Those that give a poor rating just want to get threw school without learning or doing work. If you want easy and no work drop his class, if you want to learn and get a good job that will pay well take his class. I am now an expert in BPR!!!

Class is very stressful and extremely hard because of the ambiguity of the prof. 17 people remained out of 45. Teaches a lot of good moral stories. Blames all students whenever an assignment/midterm goes bad . Little Feedback. Hard to explain...hes good but in a weird way..like "I beat you cuz I love u" kind of way.
His sole purpose was to insult the students. Extremely vague, make you guess on his assignments. No feedback. Like to blame the students. Before you bash me, consider this: I have a 3.85 GPA so I can definitely tell who the the bad profs are. Avoid him like H1N1.
This guy is the course coordinator for ITM 410 and he makes the class unbelievably cumbersome for an undergraduate student. He demands a three page (single spaced) assignment due every week. For goodness sake, show some mercy!
Morpheus!!! he failed me. i was not the chosen one
He is good. But you really need to show him what you doing and your work must make sense. Otherwise you will failure. You will learn alot but required so much time for this single course. beware take only few course with itm601
I took his Innovation and Org theory class from Ryerson MBA program.. Comes off as a very arrogant professor, who does not like people disagreeing with him. Gives subjective feedback which makes it difficult to improve ur work. First 30 min of class reserved for meditation. His teaching style is not for everyone. People either like him or hate him
In the beginning of this course, we were encouraged to "be present" and I went along with it. But the belligerent and semanticist approach to "teaching" through assignments without proper feedback is incredibly frustrating. If you can switch out of this class, I strongly encourage it.
Probably one of the best professors i have ever came across. At first he is very enigmatic and somewhat confusing with 'meditation'. one thing is certain, he knows his stuff inside out!!! before you say something to him, first think 10 times before answering
Avoid this prof if you can. He’s arrogant and spends to much time ranting on irrelevant stuff.
Condescending, angry inside professor that wastes most of the class preaching life lessons instead of actual productive work. Assignments and readings take on average 5 hours a week.
You get reward for trying to learn, if you are not willing to learn, this class is not for you. The most important part of the class is the amount of effort you put it, if you put in none, you will not do well.
Amazing professor, knowledgeable and teaches for students to understand. When I first read about this professor, I wanted to skip this course, after taking the course I realized, rate my professor can be misleading. I guess, not many students have the time to rate but the ones that have animosity do. Forget this course if you're in it for grade
Though this professor is knowledgeable, he doesn't have the quality of a good teacher. I love to read. I didn't have any problem to read the course materials. But the main problem is that he has a lot of communication gaps. He doesn't give clear instructions . As a result, students become confused. He doesn't motivate students. Avoid his course!
He tries to prove most of the time that students don't know anything. He creates stresses unnecessarily. Even he doesn't maintain the office hours properly! He sometimes forget his previous guidelines and deducts marks on the basis of his new guidelines! Totally unpredictable! Research course can be more interesting. But he makes it boring!
I don't know what's his problem! He doesn't give clear feedback for deducing marks in assignments. He thinks that he is one of the most intelligent people in the world! He doesn't respect students' opinion. The worst teacher I've ever had. Avoid his course if possible. Otherwise, you may face a semester with full of stresses! Good Luck.
The best Prof ever! He makes you think! His courses are not for those who need to be spoon-fed and babysat. If you want to have fun and get easy grades, you are in a wrong class. If you truly want to learn from the expert who is recognized by many scholars around the world, take his class, but be ready to work hard. He adds great value to the MScM.
Prof. Ngwenyama makes students hard to deliver their best. His in-class assignments shouldn't be missed and assignment instructions/guidelines should be carefully read. He is a fair marker.
I cannot speak for everybody but his research methods class helped me defend my claims and also taught me how to read critically. But yes - you should be prepared to "read"!
amazing professor!
Great lectures, classrooms are based on an upgraded model of the Socratic method
Worst professor I've had. Surprisingly little knowledge about the subject he teaches.
In class I asked Professor Ngwenyama why his explanation differed from that of the textbook's (Blaikie). He then explained that he's the expert on the topic, not the textbook. LOL, I learned so much about that topic on that day!
He is a great inspirer. He gave me confidence to be a better scientist
Given the chance I would do anything to be taught by this guy over and over again. I respect him as a scientist who has taught me things out of the norm. He is so passionate about wanting you to grasp the core concepts not just for you to pass but to become established and be able to propagate the knowledge to others. Thank you Prof a million times
Not sure if this guy is qualified to team a Stats class but he did anyway. Probably the worst prof i've had at my time at Ryerson. He thinks he's too good for his students just bc he "wrote a book". Won't answer your questions and makes you sound like you're not worth his time. Has no respect for his students. Would NOT recommend to anyone.
doesnt follow the course outline - makes it up as he goes. Literally nothing was followed, I understand some profs would change some dates but this guy acts like he's never heard of an outline. He's disrespectful and belittles his students - offers no additional support and makes you agitated if you ask for help. Drop out of his class if you can
The Professor is a tough grader and demands a ton of readings. He pushes students to the limit so the experience with him actually depends on how the student reacts to such pressure.
The course is 100 percent assignment and this great. He has a unique style of teaching that he states the problem and gives you resources to learn on your own.I mean you learn alot by doing assignments. He meditates at the beginning of each class. A life lesson which I learned was stop torturing myself with thoughts. The best course at Ryerson!
I suspect that all the positive ratings are from the professor himself. I have had a lot of bad profs but this guy takes the cake.. I am not sure if Ryerson is trying to fill some diversity quota, but clearly he shouldn't be teaching Match courses. He makes a LOT of mistakes and is very short tempered. Avoid at all costs. Not Respected.
This professor is disorganized, due dates on his course outline is inaccurate. Hes condescending when speaking to students or whenever a question is asked. Unclear grading criteria, didnt care to explain what he expects for any assignment. Gives poor grade when you dont meet his undeclared expectations.
There is no midterm or final exam. However there is a lot of assignment and final project which makes you learn better without the stress of the exams . Need to open alot of u tube videos to learn how to do the assignments using excel tools. Not easy to find the YouTube video that helps you to do the assignment. I was very afraid at the beginning.
Prof. Ngwenyama is hands down the best professor I've ever had. His classes are tough. You need to keep up with readings, but more importantly you have to be ready to think and grow. Every class you take with him, you will leave a different person. The process is not for people who run away from hard work. Transformative experience every time!
Professor is very unorganized. Lacking communication skills and very bad in his teaching approach. I hope it helps.
This man is a disgrace to the newly rebranded TMU. Extremely angry and insecure - did not receive tenure from the University of Michigan back in the 1990s, sued on the basis of race and LOST, and proceeded to blame everything wrong in his life on race. The only reason he's at TMU is because of himself - poor communicator, low EQ and ignorant
An excessive amount of redoing work after not being taught any material. Unclear expectations, no rubrics and he does not follow the syllabus. Feedback is not helpful or constructive. His final feedback was a repeat of what he had told us in class, that if we do not improve we will be an embarrassment to ourselves and to TMU.
A third rate individual aptly belonging to a third rate institution like TMU for the past 20 years (Claim 1). This man is a walking textbook of the misery, unhappiness and jadedness that he has encountered in his life and career, especially after failing to receive tenure from the University of Michigan. Spreads nothing but negativity in class.
Terrible at explaining things. And gives an unreasonable amount of useless work
This professor reads off slides that you can just access online. He doesn't prepare you for the online hw or quizzes, NOR does he even understand what's in there. Good luck.
AVOID!!!!!!!!
DON'T EVER TAKE HIM!!!!!! HE'S THE WORST PROF I EVER ENCOUNTERED!
I dropped the course after one class... it was bad vibes and I didn't need that. The worst part is that he would call on students when asking questions and it feels like there's no room for error when answering.
Don't take any class with him because he never teaches anything. It feels like he is just moving the slides, and each week there is a module to finish, which is totally different from what he teaches. There is no midterm, and the final exam is online with a webcam and audio enabled. If u don't have any option then Best of Luck!
Don't take him, he disrespectful to his students and barely teaches, all he does is read off the slides. You will hear "this not rocket science", "there are no mysteries here", and "you probably did this in high school". His module questions are completely different from the textbook, so lots of self-study. Good luck
Does not teach at all
syllabus is garbage and confusing compared to other classes taken this sem. Textbook for this course depicts little to nothing about what he teaches in class (which is Nothing, all he does is call students out). Slides shown in class are incomprehensible with multiple spelling errors and jumps in content within each and every other slide. good luck
Stands in front of the projector in silence. Waits for you to read the slides yourself. If you have a question his response consists of "it's not rocket science" "if you did the question you wouldn't be confused". Waste of time, don't show up to his lectures unless you want to waste your own time.
This professor is rude and and won't answer questions about how to break down the problem. He belittles his students when they ask questions. When people spend thousands of dollars to go to university, not answering questions as an instructor is completely unacceptable.
Loves his powerpoint presentation to cover all his teachings
Is very short-tempered and gets mad at the smallest things. Never taught a single thing in class and expects you to already know it all.
Doesn't explain slides just points at them and asks if we understand. Scolds students when asking reasonable questions and never actually answers any questions. Also he rushes to use up less than 1 of the 3 lecture hours and doesn't grade exams just gets an online app to do so.
If I could give a negative review I would. Horrible person and horrible Professor, who does not teach anything just presents slides which don't even cover everything you need to know. Refuses to answer questions in class and will straight up ignore emails. My biggest regret is not switching out of this class. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
I just wanna say more than half the class is gone. Avoid this man! I dropped this course a while ago, glad to see I made the right choice
I'd rather cut open my head than ever have him as my professor for ANY of my courses, imma be honest I don't think he knows what he is teaching
he is the worst professor I have ever received. one time in class I asked him to explain something twice because I have adhd and I wasn't on my medication and I have trouble understanding something that is only explained to me once, he would not do it. he only said that it's not rocket science
I'm sure I won't encounter a more unhelpful professor. Lectures consist of him staring at us, repeating phrases like no mysteries here and it's not rocket science. Limited explanations of error-ridden slides follow. He seems disinterested in teaching, encourages struggling students to drop, and holds office hours during lectures. 3 syllabus changes
Mentally unhealthy individual who has a strong tendency to project his own insecurities onto others. Enjoys blaming others for the same mistakes he makes himself, mistakes on outlines, slides and rubric. If you wna witness what academia does to a man decades down the road, Ojelanki is the perfect example. Lack of real world skills outside academia
His lectures last 30 mins to 1 hour for a 3 hour time slot. He refuses to spend any extra time answering questions. If you do ask a question, prepare to get a response of "work out the question yourself" or "its not rocket science."
Worst teacher/professor I have ever had. Does not teach and basically degrades you when you ask a question.
don't take his class if you're looking to learn something
Doesn't teach anything during his 20 minute lecture, seems that he hates students and his job. His tests are nothing like the textbook and studyplans. His slides are a mess and if you ask him he degrades you for even doing so. By far the worst proff. If you want a good mark study yourself or switch to another class if possible.
Once, I went to him after class (his office hours are in class, smh) to clarify a doubt about the homework. He didn't even listen to the question thoroughly and was rude and said, "Go fff..." "Go away". His lectures are just nothing but him standing there doing nothing but staring and making students feel bad about themselves.
Would never take this professor again. Does not teach anything in the lectures, most the answers to the questions he solved in lectures are WRONG. Very unclear with tests and exams. Said that the test 3 would be online, then said it would be in person, and back and forth a couple of times. The course outline contradicts itself - unclear outline!
This Professor does not teach in his lecture. He reads off a slide-show under the excuse of "technology". He does not answer questions in class, even if he asks if you have any. He will degrade you instead. I can't believe this behaviour from a professional is acceptable, especially someoneone who is tenuered. Awful professor.
Very tough professor. He kept asking students if they had questions but does not answer questions when asked. Mostly replies with "this is not rocket science", "there are no mysteries here", or "u learned this in gr 12". + midterm is online so u can't even get part marks for some questions as he "trusts" MyMathLab, so tests are probably AI graded.
Very disorganized all semester. His teaching method of showing error-ridden slides, saying, "it's not rocket science," not directly answering questions, and firing off angry emails to respond to FAQs made it difficult to learn course concepts. The only positive about him was his study plan, which did help prepare for the exam.
Prof is useless. He doesn't teach or explain any concepts. His slides are poorly constructed. The textbook will be your friend. Doesn't answer questions, and doesn't seem to know the content himself. VERY unprofessional and ashamed to say we have a professor like this at TMU. Finished with a decent grade purely from the textbook and prior knowledge
I genuinely think he wants as many students to fail as possible. He told us by email that we must write the exam in pen and that we couldn't bring our bags, both of which turned out to be false on exam day. He didn't allow the 3 crib sheets other classes got, and many important and needed equations were missing from the formula sheet he did give.
Probably one of the worst professors I have ever had in my 4 years of being at TMU. He literally terrorizes students. As if being in school isn't stress enough, I went to 2 classes and never went back, such bad vibes. I had to drop the class because I was so afraid of being belittled by him. Honestly avoid at all costs to save your mental health.
0/10 does not know to to teach!! lectures are useless, better off teaching yourself ngl
He wasn't very understanding of others concerns.
He starts off by saying to the class "This isn't rocket science" but barely explains the lesson as he mostly reads off the slide. Quick-tempered and doesn't seem to have a passion at all. If you're stuck with him, I advise you to attend study groups outside of this course and watch YouTube videos to teach yourself -> switch out if you can.
Ojelanki is by far the worst professor I've had in my university career. Having to commute down for 9am lectures, just for him to be 30 minutes late was bewildering. Having to sit in the 3 hour class, and watch him scroll through slides for 20 minutes was mind blowing. Avoid at all cost, only thing I learned is that QMS is "not rocket science".
I'm using this public forum to ask Prof OJ (and students reading it) to clarify and do a few things. Bring back Okn dotcom, the site he set up in 1998 to publicize his claim of getting turned down from tenure by the U of Michigan due to alleged racial discrimination, and why no one in the real world took his heroes Blakie & Toulmin seriously.
The professor provides weekly HW(which is graded) which prepares you for the tests. He's good at explaining concepts through slides but does not answer questions clearly. Tough to access, but he has passion. He will randomly pick on you during class. Respects students that attend and try every week. As long as you put in the work, you will be good.
Imagine where Ngwenyama would be in his life and career if he didn't waste all those time in lecture and office hour playing the little staring game with students and instead put the time to good use. Surely a top-tier school like the U of Michigan did not appreciate its own professor doing that and denied him tenure as part of his job performance
Horrible prof, I went to a few of his lectures at the start of the semester but quickly realized it was a waste of time. I think he hates his students, he sends multiple emails about how he's "trying" to help students by giving them study plans but couldn't teach during lectures. You will have to teach yourself everything
It's apparent that he's a huge fan of South Africa, a strong supporter of black empowerment and restitution over the past few decades [Claim 1]. What's ironic is that Ngwenyama still holds onto a litany of grievances and harbors a strong victim mindset, and enjoys afflicting onto others the same pains that he believes he had experienced himself.
horrendous. I had him last semester and I barely passed. He doesn't teach for sht and he comes to lectures 30 minutes late and makes classes 20-40 minutes long. He just puts up the slides on the projector and stands there as if he is clueless. many mistakes on the ppt slides and every time you would correct him he would just ignore you. 0/10
Professor Ngwenyama is not only rude and condescending, but an unknowledgeable professor who does not care about his students. His lectures are useless, consisting of him staring at the slides for 2 minutes as if he is learning along with us. He gives conflicting and irrelevant information for evaluations. I got a decent mark by only using MyLab.
Get ready for slides to be stared at. "It's not rocket science, no mysteries here". Will not answer your questions, the worst teacher I have ever had by far, passive-aggressive, doesn't answer emails, overall horrible experience and take another prof if you do not want to suffer miserably.
Horrible professor. Does not care about students or teaching; comes to get paid, that's about it. He cuts a 3-hour lecture down to 40 minutes and uses that time to aggressively look at and pick on students, along with not answering important questions. He makes the class a lot harder than it needs to be.
Trash
All the 5 stars are his burner accounts.
Worst prof you'll ever take, trust me you'll regret taking him. It's better to save your gpa then take a class with him and drop your gpa. Stay away from him.
Terrible professor that does not teach any lectures. Avoid at all costs
I'm immensely grateful to Michael White and Joseph Gordon from the University of Michigan for denying Ngwenyama tenure back in 1997, as such a prestigious university decided not to condone Ngwenyama's awful and unprofessional behavior back then. Anyone unfamiliar with Ojelanki getting rejected from tenure back then please look it up on Google.
His lectures were useless and he put no effort into teaching, if anything it was much easier to just study the content on your own than go to class. The content was very easy if you just study it yourself. His classes didn't even last an hour when they're supposed to be 3. He doesn't respond to emails about mistakes in the automatic grading.
Walk through hell first before taking any course with him, see if your withstand hell first then him
Damaged goods courtesy of the University of Michigan, Ngwenyama epitomizes the saying that "hurt people hurt people". Goes around projecting his own insecurities and flaws onto other people and loves to intimidate others into submission, not only students but his fellow professors and staff members. Thank you U of Michigan for sending TMU your best
The professor was quite disengaged during lectures. Relying on unstuckstudy and the textbook was key to doing well in this class. It was a struggle, but with focus and dedication, I managed to get a decent grade.
I recently reached out to the Information Systems Department at the University of Michigan and received confirmation, in writing, that the reason Ojelanki did not receive tenure in 1997 was because of his performance issues and teaching evaluations, and not external factors such as his race, rendering his lawsuit on racial discrimination meritless.
This man could've started a clean slate at TMU back in 2004 by simply being civil and respectful towards others. Instead, he chose to bring his decades long worth of misery and negativity back to Toronto, and has instead become the but of the joke when his incident with the University of Michigan was eventually uncovered by others he screwed over.
A man who's full of himself, goes around acting as if he's much better than others and thinks that he's Socrates by answering questions with rhetorical questions. The fact that he's been at TMU for over 20 years and not somewhere much better should eliminate any doubts or questions that he's any better or smarter than others here.
If you don't did not do well in high school calculus or are good studying on your own, take another prof where possible. Condescending tone to the entire class, ignored various students raising errors on slides, just overall feels like he doesn't want to be there.
Have fun with the new upcoming semester where Ojelanki will repeatedly tell the classes that "it's all in your head", "don't believe the stories out there", "just do the work", all while expecting you to navigate nonexistent and murky instructions. Tell him that the pain he endured from not receiving tenure at the U of Michigan is "all in his head"
just awful
He has the rating he has for a reason.
If your stuck with ojelanki dont even bother going to his lectures just learn content on your own
Very rude. I cried every day before coming to class.
This guy genuinely can't teach. He just stands there, reads the slides and tells us that we should already know the information. He gave us an in class assignment that no one knew how to do and then complained stating that we aren't studying, we aren't trying, etc. Asking him questions is the equivalent to asking a brick wall. Avoid at all costs.
The professor barely goes through any exercises in class and says everything is "simple". The guy doesn't even show up to class with a calculator. I have sent a total of 4 emails, and the man has only responded to one. PLEASE avoid at all costs. He will also say that all these reviews are from unserious students and ignore the bad reviews.
I highly encourage anyone interested in what happened to Ojelanki back at the University of Michigan to thoroughly read "Ngwenyama v. BOARD OF REGENTS, UNIVERSITY OF MICH., 29 F. Supp. 2d 402", provided by Justia Law. Quote in there reads verbatim : [t]o date [Ngwenyama] has not been an effective core course teacher for either MBAs or BBAs."
The guy just reads the slides doesn't teach anything, if you class with him is better to stay home and read through the slides yourself and watch video and learn all by yourself, his slides are useless btw, they are very basic stuff. His tests are not even based on the stuff on slides. You have to read the textbook and do extra for yourself.
i wanted to cry everytime i stepped in that lecture. don't even bother asking him questions he won't help u—he'll just clown u or make u try to figure it out (even when u clearly can't). his lectures are also pointless, all he does is read off of very basic slideshows and says everything is “simple.” ur better off using textbook instead of “my lab”
The in class assignments he gave basically helped for the test so that's a plus..
Absolutely loved his class, by far the best teacher/professor I've ever had.
His classes are so easy you don't even have to study.
It's like an elective course it's super duper easy.
Ok who is giving the fake 5 stars again.
He's just a chill guy
Helpful and goated
w prof, please give us a mark curve for test 2. You a g if u do that my guy!
The prof helped me out i was able to lock in w him
he's a great professor who gave clear instructions and was very fair with his grading. Often times he would take extra time to explain a lot of the content. There are some negative reviews here but they often times didnt use the resources that he provided
Lectures pretty boring but light content and prof
Adrianna got nothing on this goat. Please give your class a curve for test 2. Thank you daddy!
inspirational, diligent, determined, scholar, these are just some of the words that describe who this man is. He's an inspiration that the English language isn't ready or capable of describing one of the greats up there with biblical figures.
Tells good stories during classes, and will anwser your questions, ignore the negative reviews, hes changed for the better this semester.
Great at explaining formulas step-by-step and showing how they apply to real business examples. Made math feel a lot more practical.
Very organized course structure- his slides, examples, and assignments all lined up perfectly with the tests he gave
One Word. Aura. Ojelanki is not only a representation of powerful, enthusiastic and caring but he is also quite the rock. He reminds me of Dwayne the rock johnson in the way that he shines like the mighty brave smoulder and preaches like a king. Enjoy his class as you will cherish all your moments with him!!
Appreciated how they always showed different ways to solve each problem (calculator, algebra, Excel). Super helpful for exams.
One of the most structured and approachable math-based courses I've taken. Makes business stats feel logical instead of intimidating - grading can be a bit tough tho.
Harris told me to leave this rating
I like to record his lectures and set it to vibration-based audio output and listen because his lectures are so meaningful and really get me engaged and I just love it so much.
Good balance of theory and application — tests reflect the practice sets almost exactly. Definitely recommend for anyone nervous about math
Lots of homework assigned, but doable.
Helpful and Kind
If I went to class, my grade would be a bit better, but he's still a light prof.
Tough grading but fair. If you keep up with weekly work and practice problems, you'll do well.
Light work, you could even skip class and do well.
Would take other profs but overall hes good
Pay attention in class, what he mentions will be the focus sometimes
Idk why ppl hated on him, i found him helpful/chill
Wish i went to class, i think I woulda done a bit better
Don't listen to all these 5 start reviews, they are lies, look, this guy is as bad as if he is teaching himself with the students. You have to do a lot of work from the given resources and also use the textbook if you want more practice. Most of his lectures and slides are not very useful.
Good guy, hope i get him again next sem
Don't listen to all these 1 start reviews, they are lies,You have to do a lot of work from the given resources and also use the textbook if you want more practice. Most of his lectures and slides are not very useful but hes pretty good.
My name is John Ngwenyama. I've been blessed with this presence that I understand what I must do for the next 3-4 years of my undergraduate studies. I've been blessed and enlightened.
Its like taking candy from a baby
Do the homework and youll pass
This guy is botting his own ratings. Look how many reviews were written on the same day. He should just take his RMP page down instead of embarrassing himself like this.
Hes not THAT bad but also not THAT good
Dont listen to the negative reviews, people just got destroyed on grade 11-12 math that they can't handle university math
Dear prof, if you're reading this… please do a better job teaching so that all students can succeed. This is an easier way to get good reviews than faking it yourself. God bless!
All these 5stars dated Nov6th2025 are part of a trolling activity. In reality, Ojelanki is very incompetent. I did really good in HS math and have a good mark in this course. However, not only is this course difficult, but prof is terrible. He stares at the slides, speed runs them, and doesn't answer questions. Makes lots of mistakes on his slides.
He can't teach, reads the slides and yaps about rocket science... like hello?? You can't even ask a question if you're confused because he won't explain it and gives attitude if you don't know. He's so MEAN. He just walks around the class and gets mad if you sit at the back. He didn't even show up to watch us do the first midterm.
He can't teach don't even bother going because all he does is skip through slides.
He is evil and can't teach; he is so mean.
Literally not worth taking him, he can't teach, he does NOT care about you and will not help you in any way shape or form.
exams are decent based off in class assignments and stuff. Test one is light and test two was a little difficult but manageable. Lectures are just looking and slides and examples. The class itself is decent.
He's not the type of teacher you'd want to lecture this course, worst teacher I've ever had, never choose him.
this guy actually either wrote fake ratings or got his kids to do them. He is the most insufferable professor. All he does is make everyone feel miserable. I get it's a math course but it's all new content that he should be guiding us through, not showing a slideshow silently. Also, good luck on tests because the syllabus won't help you study.
Over 25 years later, failing to receive tenure from the University of Michigan really has done a major hit job to Ojelanki's ego. Guy went postal and ape$ hit and decided to flood the site with his own fake ratings. Comparing himself to biblical figures is pretty hilarious. He needs to see a psychiatrist to see what's really wrong with him.
John Ngwenyama reminds me of Drake, Certified Loverboy Certified Pedo File botting his own ratings and viewership. Green and Green from Ann Arbor really did a poor job representing Ojelanki's lawsuit against the University of Michigan when he failed to sue them for racial discrimination and the guy went apes hit.
The course content is hard yeah but it's doable if you study hard enough. What I didn't appreciate was his condescending attitude and unclear/misleading communication. Hate his rocket science thing too, maybe this seems like common sense to him but we're here to learn like can you maybe elaborate instead of just reading off the slides
professor n is very sweet kind and caring and is a really smart and humble man jk if ur reading this lil bro im not surprised u couldnt get into michigan maybe reevaluate your teaching skills im shocked you make 6 figures knowing that you do absolutely nothing i cant believe you still have a job
I highly encourage anyone interested in learning more about Ojelanki at U of Michigan to fully read "Ngwenyama v. BOARD OF REGENTS, UNIVERSITY OF MICH., 29 F. Supp. 2d 402 (E.D. Mich. 1998)" provided by US Justia Law. Line in there reads explicitly "to date [Ngwenyama] has not been an effective core course teacher for either MBAs or BBAs".
The class material is not even hard. He just lies and gives contradicting information. He'll say this is on the test but it's not. Then he'll say this is not on the test but it is. He doesn't prepare you much so you have to do it yourself.
DO NOT choose this prof. you will hate your life. the prof is mean and miserable. the exams are based on in class work, however in class he just bullies his students. as someone good at math i am barely passing this course because of his ridiculous expectations. this is the worst prof ive ever had.
English is clearly not his first language even though he's originally from a former British colony and have been in Canada and North America since 1974. Claims to carry and present himself with a certain "aura" and comparing himself to "biblical figures" and "kings" is extremely inappropriate for a professional university setting.
He ain't it bro.
worst prof ever
I genuinely do not think i'll ever complain about another professor ever again. Please don't waste your money taking this class I PROMISE it is not worth it if all the other classes are full bro just wait for another sem and pick ANYONE ELSE your grade will be a solid 20% lower in this class than if you take it with any other professor.
He was one of the best professors that I've had the pleasure of witnessing. Every class his light jokes would light up the class it was truly an electric experiance. He often times would cut throught the noise of the work with one of his favourite lines "its not rocket science" the class would then burst into laughter.
both his attitude and teaching ability are awful. not very much to learn from lectures since all he does is read off the slides. other than that, it's not too bad. both tests were mostly based on the in-class work he assigned which was already easy. lots of pearson homework in the first few weeks, but it gets way lighter after a while.
yo this guys sucks never showed up to class but when i did, I questioned why i wasted my time pulling up if you did well in highschool youll be alright if you didnt R.I.P. First year student loved wastin my time with this prof
final is so free
The work isn't hard; just do the study plan and exercises, and you'll handle the exams fine. Skip class—he just flicks through PowerPoints. He shames you for asking questions or makes you feel stupid. IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE THO
Horrible. Put chapter 13 content on the 2nd midterm dispite the course outline saying chapter 5-12. Sit in silence in the lecture, not worth going, he doesnt make any comments or extra help if you go (i went to every class, so disappointing). Tests are like 50% similar to the practice and 50% stuff ive never studied before and i studied a lot.
Not the hardest class. If you did decent in grade 12 calc, you should be fine, but he doesn't really teach. He reads the slides most of the time, and at other times, he stands there, looks at the slide, and says to the class, "You guys got that?" and then moves on. His favourite sentence is "It's not rocket science."
do not trust the 5 star ratings they are trolls from ppl in the program lol. whatever you do don't take him. If you unfortunately have to, it's a waste of time going to class, you're gonna have to learn everything by yourself. Very rude to students, thinks he's this god or something. Also don't sit back of the class lol, that's his #1 pet peeve
The course is not too bad; the professor doesn't really make a difference in this course. It's gonna be tough regardless, you just have to do your work. There is a lot of homework, though, and a lot of work, be ready for that. Otherwise, he's not as bad as people make him seem.
monkey from africa cant teach "oo oo aa aa it is not rocket scientist friend" i cant believe this пiğğeг is employed as a professor
I'm pretty sure the only reason why people did significantly worse on the second midterm was because he included stuff we didn't learn yet. And the stuff he puts on his course outline is conflicting with what he says in class. Also he's rude to students all the time, but he's chill when he's in a good mood.
Low self esteem and emotional intelligence, poor communicator, and overall very negative attitude towards others with an obvious chip on his shoulder about what occurred in his life and career.
Not bad, but not good.
Not worth it
worst possible professor. 30 min lectures in a 3 hour period, 2nd midterm had stuff we never learned yet nor was it on the hw questions up till that day. replies to every difficult question on the slides with "its not rocket science". barely responds to emails and then, less than a week before the final he said it would be 40% integrals(really 7%)
Not a great prof. Lots of mistakes on his lectures. Doesn't teach, he just skips through slides. When asked a question, he tries to dodge it. His lecture content and course outline don't align, creating a ton of confusion. 1st test was easy, 2nd was hard because he put things that he hadn't taught yet. Get ready to teach yourself.
Never attended any of his classes, self taught myself through every single test and weekly homework. The textbook is a much better teacher, and I strongly suggest seeing TMU's qms130 tutors (Mehpreet was an angel), especially their pre-test review sessions. The tutors summarize lessons in 10 minutes. In-class exercises kinda help. Prepare to pray.
he's interesting to say the least. rarely attended class as he reads off the lecture slides. i mainly taught the course myself, did the in-class exercises and business-specific word problems on the slides. test 1, 2, and final were hella free. as long as you did well on gr12 math, "it's not rocket science".
his tests 1, 2 and final are basically practice questions which he didnt explained how to do it, but him as a proff is literally the worst experience ever. He doesnt reply to emails, he forgot to release a homework on time and gave students no warning on it being released with 1 day to complete it. calls people like "you in a blue shirt".
people overhate but he is pretty bad, he could view students as humans for one. tips: the hw is easy online & repeat each week if u dont 100. ball out on test 1, test 2 you'll do bad unless u get correctly like i did, and final work backwards, msp quiz is an online free 4% to ur grade. He'll u out if u leave the room early but remember ur an adult
Rushes through the lecture and reads off the slides. Make sure to maximize the mylab hw and MSP marks. Tests and finals tend to introduce questions you've never seen before. Do the in-class exercises, and practice business-specific word problems on the slides. Test 2 literally had a chapter he said wouldn't be on it.
