Most people in there are bored to tears. His english is very broken and he spends an hour on the easy stuff and 10 minutes on the rest. I think its his first year teaching, boy he has a long way to go!
I would not recommend this teacher. You can hardly understand his English and he never told us our grades once. All of his homework is online and he is very unclear on what exactly the homework even is. You never know where you stand in his class bc you don't even know if your doing the right thing. Also, if you ask for help, you aren't getting it!
Very smart and made the class interesting. i really admire his teaching knowledge.
I had this teacher for Calculus and he is bad news! He assigns too much homework and all he counts are your tests. His accent is hard to understand and he makes up his own problems that don't have solutions half the time. I am a very strong math student and I had to bust to get a C!! I would suggest another teacher.
He gets irrtated if he is interrupted to be asked a question. He has a very very thick accent and is hard to understand. The only good thing about his class when I took it was that he let us use a notecard on each exam and we could write as much as we could fit on it.
dont take this teacher if you want to pass a class
not good
True True. I couldn't understand a word this guy said and he acted like students were dumb a$$'s if they asked a question duh thats why we are in class! He never let us take a notecard to a test. If you want a teacher who chases his own tail and treats you like an idiot then enjoy otherwise run dont walk to drop this class. F----
Couldn't understand him, and he was not at all willing to help no matter how many times i went to his office.
Very smart and helpful
Hard working,Excellent
Excellent teacher and highly intelligent
Awesome teacher? always answers questions
Easy class, all homework online.
Highly clever and a very good teacher
i had him for an algebra class last summer. he is a really nice guy explains everything in detail because he has a Nigerian accent. super nice...but a little boring at times. will help you though
Ola explains easy material in detail and flies through the difficult parts. He is very unorganized and not a good communicator.
He is very good.He is very caring.
He is very compassionate. He is very concerned about assignment and class attendance. He is a good teacher.I will recommend him to someone who is willing to do assignments and attends class regularly. He has a zero tolerance level for rude students.
He considered questions to be challenging his authority. Laughed at students for having questions. Book was always wrong and he right even when that wasn't the case. He held a grudge if you caught his mistake. Taught on easiest/basic levels and tested on toughest levels with out answering questions. I wouldn't recommend, many far better teachers!
Very detailed.Good instructor
He is very helpful and enthusiastic.I will recommend him to students who are willing to study.
he is awful its hard to understand what he is saying he shows you easy problems but when you take tests they are problems that you don?t remember covering. overall he did nothing to help he made me feel like I wasted my time and still failed.
He is a Very detailed instructor. if you struggle with math take his class. the only reason why i got a C in the class is because i was never there because i had surgery half way through the course. Doing the online homework can save your grade. and the reviews are extremely close to the exams.
Very compassionate and fair.
Terrible teacher, and bad person. Not a nice person and was worthless as a teacher, Im about to graduate and took the course at tcc and he was the worse teacher I have had in my 4 years of college. I had help from an outside tutor who had been helping me for 2 years and disu told me he was my problem..I highly DONT reccomend..bad person and teacher
Run! Run! His test is totally different and difficult from what's being thought in class. He makes up his own questions for the tests and some with incorrect answers. He's very defensive when you ask a question. The text book says one thing and he says something else. It is so frustrating.
The best math teacher I have ever had. Explains everything in detail. If you have trouble in math definately take Disu.
I took him for col. algebra and business calculus. I did get an A in the college one because that's my area. But his test are totally different than his homework problems. He likes making up problems and you have to do them his way or you get them wrong. He actually told my class that he cares if only 1 passes and it's our problem that we failed.
Very rude and does not feel obligated to answer questions. Goes slow through easy steps and speeds through difficult/new material. He has two degrees, working on his doctrine, and wants more degrees. He is a student for life and expects everyone to prioritize school the way he does. He likes class avg to be low.
He is very good and compassionate.i will recommend him to any student.to be successful in his class, you have to be ready to work hard.
He is one of the best.I enjoyed taking his class. I learnt a lot from his class. he is instrumental in my high level of interest in mathematics.
Prof. Ola Disu is an outstanding teacher. He is very detailed.I like the way he explained the problems. You have to be ready to do the assignments if you want to pass in his class.
I have never liked math, he developed my interest in the course. He will encourage you to do the assignments and practice problems from the textbook.
He actually returns emails. Something vital in a distance learning class. While the test are hard, the homework isn't. Focus on the homework and the extra credit and you'll make an A.
Mr Disu is a FANTASTIC math teacher. :] He's really good at explaining his steps and going over the important parts for the tests. Practice with your homework and you'll have no problems in this class, even if you miss almost two weeks of class like I did. :D
Prof. Disu is a really good math teacher. he offers extra credit and all his test are all multiple choice. although i am horrible at math, and there where a couple of sections that i just couldnt understand. i know i could still pass. just do the homework online and attend class.
He's pretty clear when explaining something, though it can drag on and be extremely boring to where it's easy to zone out. Pretty easy class so long as you show up. I can't stand the fact that he doesn't update online ANYTHING; grades, announcements. But he does e-mail.
Prof Disu is very detailed. He is a very good instructor. He obviously knows the stuff. He can be upset if you do not follow his instruction.
He is very caring and always ready to help.He does not tolerate absentism from students. Please, be ready to study if you schedule his class; he does not play around.
Test are hard since he puts stuff that isnt gone over in class in it. Homework is easy. He doesnt like if you dont understand the math, but does take a lot of time going over a problem. I think he is did more examples the class would be easier to follow and grade well.
hard to understand but test are easy most the time.
He goes through the problems VERY SLOWLY and in great detail which was awesome for me cause this style would explain those little math rules about fractions or whatever and also made my notes crystal clear. He kinda sounds like he gargles with gravel, which sometimes makes his speech a little hard to understand. Overall super great professor!
Plenty of things I've already learned before brought out and shown to me in very minute detail. He's uninteresting with his lectures, slow to answer e-mails and load grades, and is sometimes offended if you don't understand. I got an A from simply doing the homework and not listening to a word he says. The MathLab is more helpful.
You will need the book and lab. He has a VERY heavy accent and makes it hard to understand him at times. Goes through the problems very slowly and shows you many ways to do it. Very boring lectures.
Took this as an online 3 week summer course. Lots of work in such a short amount of time. Slow to post grades so you don't know where you stand, if you have any questions, you better have another resource for getting those answered. Class ends in a few days and I have no idea what my grade is.
He is not the best match teacher. His accent is very very very thick and whenever you ask him a question on a problem he looks at you like your dumb. I was scared to ask him questions because he always made me looked dumb. He does go through the lecture very slow so i guess thats a plus but other than that I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM.
Does not help when you are confussed treats u like your worthless. This is a remedial class and he has no will to help us.. Thinks if we don't catch on the first time then we are stupid!!
MUST READ!If you are not comfortable with math do not take him!To him, students waste his time and are an inconvenience. He sometimes teaches the wrong mechanics when working problems and expects you to do it the right way on tests. He is always late to class, including every EXAM DAY so you have less time to complete the exam. Many more issues w/ him
I would not recommend him! He seems irritated in his email responses to my questions. Online quizzes are fill in the blank so if you don't type in exactly the way he wants, it's wrong even if the answer is technically right. If you're good with math you will be fine, just rely on your text book and not the professor.
Took him again. He's still the same. Easy A if you study on your own. No physical textbook is needed--no matter what he tries to tell you. Just get MyMathLab (complete with the online textbook) and you're good. Go to class to know when exams are or for reviews. 'S about it.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE STOP BEFORE YOU CLICK THE REGISTER BUTTON BECAUSE THIS TEACHER IS HARD TO UNDERSTAND TEST DEFINITION QUESTIONS HAVE TO BE EXACTLY HOW HE DEFINES THEM WHEN ASKING SIMPLE QUESTIONS THAT HE SHOULD KNOW HIS ANSWER MAY BE SOMETHING ALONG THE LINES OF "YOUR GUESS IS AS GOOD AS MINE" GAVE EXTRA CREDIT BUT HAD TO FIGHT FOR HIM TO APPLY!
He is an awesome teacher. miss his class. He goes through problems clearly and step by step. Gives all the definitions, don't need to read a book. I made A just by going through his notes and practicing homework in my math lab.
Ola is very detailed, but still an average at best professor. Do not take him over the summer, or any calculus for that matter. Be prepared for curve balls on the test, he no longer gives multiple choice test.
Professor Disu is very nice if you are on his good side. However, if you set him off he will not try to help you at all! I got an A in his class, but had to teach it all to myself. He is not very organized and often comes into class asking where we are at i n the textbook. Take him if you can teach yourself.
Have had many bad professors. Ola is not. Main good point is he explains everything clearly and without rush. Consequently, textbook use is mainly reserved for problems and homework. Will bump you up a grade for being good/lots of participation etc. Is a bit strict. Good for engineers as he is an engineer seems to have a clear, systematic approach.
He is very good.He is very knowledgeable.
One of the best instructors I've ever had. He is very strict, attendance is an absolute must, and his tests are the hardest I've ever taken. However, he is also compassionate, fair, and incredibly sharp. His instructions and notes were crystal clear, and despite my struggles in class, I learned so very much, and the notes will carry me forever.
AWFUL! I paid for a professor to teach me, yet I'm teaching myself. I'm very experienced in DL classes, so this is not my first rodeo. No response to emails/questions, NO HELP. Supposed to be online testing, but tells you it is on the opposite campus AFTER you start the semester. I'm making the grade bc I'm teaching myself. Terrible professor!
The bottom line is the class itself is not terribly difficult but this instructor does not respond to emails and is not helpful at all.
Terrible teacher. Hard to understand through his accent, online homework was different than lecture, and tests were different than review. Had to drop the class because everything I was studying was no cohesive at all! Never took questions or answered that you needed! Take ANOTHER!
This teacher is hard to understand and he makes things more complicated than they need to be. Most of the time i needed to teach myself everything. He reads directly off slides the whole class as well.
He is very helpful and can be strict with unco-operative students. He knows the course and he is a good teacher. Please, take him if you want to learn mathematics because he knows how to teach. He does not joke in class.
Attend all lectures! His tests are brutal, but he is a brilliant professor. He demands diligent study away from class. Can be confusing at times, but hang in there.
Made things harder than they needed to be. He had a confusing method of teaching, and was unhelpful. I had to learn everything from the book, and not from his lectures.
Seriously one of the best math professors at TCC! His lectures are clear, detailed, and enjoyable. I love his teaching style as he gives lots of thorough examples and frequently stops if anyone is lost. Do your hwk, attend every lecture possible, take good notes, and be active in class! He's very fair and will bump your grade w/ effort! Take him!
I took his online class. He is not organize at all. We can't even find the homework in blackboard. He is really behind with technology. Never answer back my emails. I am not happy at all. I don't know who I can complain to.
goes at a very slow pace which can be good if you need moreexplanation on things. never had a problem understanding what he was talking about. very willing to explain anything if you ask. he loves math and will like you if you show interest!
Horrible, never answers emails no matter how many you write, blackboard is a total mess cannot find anything, syllabus, course organizer and all dates were for previous year. Despite the class being "online" had to drive dozens of miles to a distant campus for each exam.
Material is hard but Mr. Disu gives lots of extra points if he sees you try in his class. Do your online homework and don't get behind. It's a lot of work, but Mr. Disu truly loves the subject and helps you if you try. Also do not skip class! You will become confused because you learn new material every day.
Truly the worst online class I've taken. I am going back for a second associates and needed another math course and chose Statistics. The instructor is horrible, he doesn't post homework on-time to meet his own due dates then ignores emails about unposted homework. Grades his Brief Explanations unfairly, doesn't match book or lesson readings.
If you MUST absolutely take Statistics, do not take his on-line course, the tests are brutal. They do not follow any sort of scheme. If you do, do so at your own risk. He will not answer emails, three homework assignments had accessibility issues so I would call him during his office hours...just don't take on-line statistics!
Class very easy if you read every lesson!! Homework is extremely easy also. BB is a little unorganized. Make sure and use email that he supplies in syllabus or he won't answer you. Very nice person and fair. Tests are very easy and final also but a couple times he threw in concepts from lessons we skipped, little frustrating. Overall good teacher.
I took his summer online class, which sounds scary; but I loved it. The teacher goes according to the syllabus so you already know what to do from day 1. He drops 9 lowest assignments(details in class) which is very helpful. You do have to have time to do your work but it's not hard, it's easy to understand.
Unfortunately, my original teacher had to leave, therefore Ola Disu had to fill in. He's completely lost and will lecture on a chapter we've already gone over. And doesn't give you a chance to take the tests over again, which means I'll have to take the class again. If you email him for help, don't expect him to reply back, because he won't.
He is an insanely nice guy but English is not his first language so he is very hard to understand in lectures. His tests are difficult and they don't always make sense but he does give extra credit. If you have to take him, take advantage of the math lab and you'll be okay.
Worst teacher I have ever taken. This professor is a mess, he assigns homework every class however you never know when to turn it in, he picks a random assignment from time to time and grades it. If you miss class you don't miss much because youtube seems to be more helpful than him, however attendance is mandatory. Im good at math but he is awful.
He is not the most organized, but he does go according to the schedule. He'll sometimes give out a problem to solve in class for an extra point or two. He does have an accent, but he is understandable. Tests are a little difficult, very different from any other math tests I've taken. Nice guy, willing to help but only if you're willing to work.
if you show up to class, pay attention, and do the homework, you will do fine. he's hard to understand because of his accent and when you ask questions he often laughs at them. he doesn't understand what people asked a lot of the time so he gave answers that didn't help much. not very organized. he forgot we had a test one day.
I took Disu for Calc II summer session. I had taken it before in high school, and I loved it. Disu changed that quickly. He's rude and gives snappy answers when you ask questions about the math. The tests are crazy difficult, and he told us he specifically put problems on them that are over material we didn't cover in class. AVOID HIM, I dropped
I took his Maymester Stats class and while his tests can be tough he made sure he went over everything that would be on it. If you study, do your homework, and listen in class you will know what material will be covered. His direct teaching method may not be popular with most, but I found it easy to follow.
Very fair, expect you to study well and very knowledgeable.
I took him for my first Calculus class. Gives out hw everyday, but he only takes up hw whenever he feels like it. However, I do enjoy his teaching style. The majority of class is going over pratice problems in order to get ready for the test. Tests are fairly hard, but I feel well prepared from doing the hw and going over problems in class.
He is a no nonsense professor. He can be compassionate . He is very fair.
Its class lecture with a little bit of accent but still easy to understand. You feel like you learned something untill you come to your homework. This is where you feel you may have been let down. Tests have little to no in class review. You have to rely on self learning from homework and the paper review he sends you home with.
professor Disu is a good lecturer,he is very fair and can be strict. He is very intelligent.
He has an accent, but not bad. Is encouraging to students, but "The MathLab is there for a reason" was the response to questions for help. Lectures are dry; goes over problems from the book. Tests were over material provided, but you have to study on your own or you will fail. I would have done just as well online. Random extra credit in class prob
Online class. Unorganized and unclear syllabus and emails. Confusing and contradictory information repeated in different formats. If you email him and ask a question, he either doesn't respond or gives one half sentence answer, effectively NOT answering the question at all.
He is very good ,very fair to students and always ready to help.
Don't take this professor. He can't teach although he thinks he can. You aren't supposed to blame the professor for struggling but this guy you can. He is hard to understand and you will find yourself teaching yourself the material. I am a 4.0 student and have over 60 credit hours. This is guy is the worst professor I've ever had in college.
I would never take this professor again. I can say that I could have missed the entire class and just watched the videos on mml and would have been okay. The way class was administered was him just reading the PP to us. This professor was not helpful whatsoever. I passed but only because I taught myself the material with videos and MML.
I would never recommend him to anyone. His lectures consist of doing random problems from the book. If you ask a question or seem confused, he will laugh and talk down to you. His test are very difficulty and he is a very strict grader. Avoid taking his class unless you want to fail or have your GPA to drop!
This is a class where participation is a must if you want a chance to save your grade. It's a very active-learning environment. He's tough, and only wants input if you really know what you're doing (but he'll get mad if not everyone talks). The tests are really hard, and he's a tough grader. I really struggled and barely made it through. He's fair.
I took Professor Disu for Calc. II during the summer. I would not recommend him to anyone! His tests are the ridiculously difficult. His lecture consists of working problems from the textbook. Many times he would spend 20-30 minutes on a problem because he did it wrong the first attempt and would have to start over. Participation required to pass.
really easy tests if you study. gives reviews. although i taught myself alot thru mystatlab, he is super sweet. i think there are better professors but he's not awful, easy to pass if you put in the work. very organized and gives dates for test in advance. usually get out like 10 min early
He is very strict, high level of understanding of the concept and very dedicated.
Professor Disu is very intelligent and he is a very good teacher but he will let you work really hard. If you are not a dedicated student , please do not take his class. I really learnt a lot from him.
I can honestly say he was one of the worst professors I have ever taken. I didn't do my research prior to taking his class, so I found out after the fact that he is difficult to understand, condescending, and unclear in lectures and expectations. If I could sum up the semester in one word it would be "confusion."
First off you can not understand a word he says. He laughs at you if you ask a questions and then responds back why you didn't use math lab. Everything is confusing, doesn't know how to use the calculator to show you how to do the problem. He goes over practice problems, but when it comes to the test they are nothing like what he practices with. Much harder and terrible. DO NOT I repress DO NOT take this teacher for any math class. I recommend taking it online. You will be better off, trust me. I'm retaking it online so I can get a better grade.
Not that bad of a teacher, there are 4 tests, mymathlab HW, and a final. He drops your worst test and replaces it with the final. Overall he is not that bad of a teacher, what helped me get a decent grade was the review sheet he'd give before the test. Not that bad, just show up and participate. Sometimes he may give out extra credit.
If you've taken Calculus before, this class will be easy. If you aren't willing to memorize the formulas and practice the problems, you won't pass. He is very organized and makes it clear what he expects of you, however he is one of the meanest teachers. He'll answer your questions, but be prepared. He will get angry and make you feel stupid.
Hardest class I've ever taken. He is often late, tests are unorganized, the tests are so much harder than the homework, and he gets angry often for no reason. I only missed one day of class, did all the homework, took notes of everything he said, and I still got a D. He did bump my grade though, which is nice. He notices if you try, at least
Good teacher and hard subject so people will automatically blame the teacher for their failures . He notices your effort and helps you out. Took him for cal 2&3
Tough grader, things must be done in a certain way. Participation is required. Attendance is mandatory. Wasn't very available outside of class.
He honestly does not deserve such a low rating. If you did horrible in any of his classes than that just means you didn't work for it. He is a great professor, he encourages you to study daily and if you practice or exercise math at least once everyday you will understand the material, this coming from someone who doesn't really like math.
I took him for Cal 2 and Cal 3. He is understanding of students and he really wants everyone to pass, and he seems to be hurt when you are not passing, do not buy the book, his homeworks are online and easy, but the Tests are challenging, but he does give you a review on what to expect in the tests. Do Not miss class, it irritates him.
Mr. Disu is not a bad professor. Yes, his class is difficult but it's college what do you expect? Do the homework, pay attention during lecture, and most importantly participate! He is a fair grader and for the most part tells you what will be on the test. I took his maymester course and made an A because I listened during class and studied.
Mr Disu is an amazing guy and really knows the course material. With that being said he will make you work for your grade and grades test pretty hard if you dont give your answer in the format he wants. also he rewards participation so if he sees you trying to learn he will be more than willing to help. I recommend him if you really want to learn.
I don't recommend him. I am taking his online STAT class. He does not have a syllabus, there is no clear understanding of what he wants. He just gives you textbook pages to read and expects you to know what to do. He doesn't respond to emails and is a slow grader don't take him unless your'e good at learning on your own
He is not very organized, and he talks so quietly that it is hard to hear sometimes. He also spends too much time explaining the basics and not enough time explaining the advanced material. He also doesn't cover everything in his lectures that will be on the homework and/or tests so you HAVE to take your own notes from the book and teach yourself.
I have never been very well at math, so professor Diju was good at "dumbing" things down when it came to it, but it all reality some of his "lectures" were videos that we would watch for the entire hour and a half. There were also several times where us, the students, would correct his math. He also burps a lot under his breath while lecturing.
I took him for Calc-II this spring. I was well know about him since first. If you are a mathematics major then I recommend to take him because his tests are challenging and it's fun to do it. He is always ready to help.
He is not organized at all. He is obviously not prepared for his lecture. Makes too much mistakes every day, and he does not clear the confusion. He just writes the book down on the boards, and cannot understand and answer student's question. His lecture is a mess, and he expects high difficulty in the test.
He is good. Can be strict. He is caring . He loves to impact his knowledge.
He is a tough grader and he makes so many mistakes on the board but he doesn't want you to do the same in the exam. Please learn to memorize and paraphrase the theories in the exams others you're doomed to get and big F. I took in for linear algebra and in my entire math series, I have never met such a teacher who is full of mistakes.
Professor Disu was great. I took him for statistics maymester. It was extremely hard because it was a 10 day class. He was good at working problems out and explaining the problems. He made sure you understand it. I didnt do so well but he was a good instructor and I would take him again for another math class as hes very knowledgeable.
First of all, I dont why there is such a low review about Mr. disu. He is one of the finest professor at Northeast. I took him online for statistics on summer. Being honest here, he assign lot of assignments to do. But, yeah we are in college. He drop the lowest exam grade with your homework assignment. Do not have second thought. Just take it.
He isn't very clear on his math and what he is doing. He doesn't like being asked questions until after class. And the tests are NOTHING like the test review. I recommend taking another teacher is available but if hes your last option it isn't the end of the world.
took his online class if you take it make sure you save or write down all the notes he deletes them as soon as the assignment is due . definitely DO NOT recommend his class unless its your last choice as he doesnt respond to emails often and if he makes a mistake he doesnt fix it for the whole class as well as he doesnt post notes or book pages.
This guy is perfectly reasonable, he emphasizes the right things and had a simple structure to his class.
Mr. Disu seems like a good guy, but I don't think he is a good teacher. He did okay at explaining stuff, but when it came to tests they were NOTHING like homework or reviews. He gives out a lot of homework too. He makes a lot of mistakes when doing problems on the board as well. He may be a good guy, but he is definitely not a teacher I recommend.
This is one of the worst instructors I have ever had. Mr. Disu showed up to class late almost every day. Sometimes 30 minutes late. Lectures were often about the wrong subject or just incorrect. He did not care about assignments as there were lots of problems he never cared to adress. Sent emails at 2 AM asking us to meet at 8:30 AM that day. Awful
Professor Disu gives his students everything they need to be successful in such a notoriously tough class. He uses MyMathLab for homework, assigns a few short assignments, 4 total tests, and posts super helpful handouts for each section that explains concepts and instructions to use the ti 84 calculator- huge help! He is AWESOME!
Was he the hardest professor I've ever had? Yes. Were his tests not like the reviews, sometimes. But he tells you up front, if you do the work and TRY he will work with you. When my class switched to online because of covid, I was the only student who attended his video chats. He told me that showing up helps my grade.
Took the online stats course, it seemed difficult. He is hard to get an email back from, some students were emailing each other with questions. He removed the syllabus during the first part of the semester, so make sure you save it. Tests are harder than the review, and some of the stuff on the reviews wasn't even accurate. Drops lowest test.
This was an online class. It wasn't bad until I procrastinated. He expects you to read the textbook and his notes. SAVE HIS NOTES he deletes them. He has a brief explanation for each chapter and discussion boards in the beginning of the semester. There is a lot of hw on pearson mylab. I suggest study everything for the test not just the review
If this professor is the only one available, do not take him. I took him online after seeing his score on this website and thought it couldn't be that bad. I was wrong, instructions for tests are unclear and he will never answer your emails or phone call. I could not go visit him during his office hours because of COVID-19. Do not take him online.
By far the worst professor. Major language barrier, which is fine, except he refuses to accept that and argues with everyone when they say he's made serious mistakes. He sends hundreds of emails with incorrect info, then argues with you for informing him on his error. Avoid this prof. at all costs. Even the assistant didn't know what he was doing.
I took professor Disu for Calculus II. Homework is easy because of MML providing examples and multiple tries. Tests are more difficult, but reviews are provided and if you take the time to review past homework and practice the review they're definitely doable. I enjoyed class discussions and bringing in homework questions to work through together.
His reviews and homework have nothing to do with what is going to be on the test, so doing the review seems like it doesn't even matter. I would recommend looking for a different teacher.
Disu is a very caring professor and provides a lot of resources and live lectures BUT his exams don't match the reviews. He does not give extra credit on anything and hes a tough grader. Attending the live lectures didnt help much because he has a heavy accent and seems to get annoyed if you ask him to repeat something.
This professor has a thick accent, its almost to the point where it's hard to understand him sometimes. Also, if you have a question, he sometimes wont respond to your emails, which made it really hard to get ahold of him, especially during the pandemic (Fall 2020 semester)
I took Disu for a coreq college algebra class which is for people who didn't pass the tsi in math meaning you probably don't remember a lot of stuff from high school. Unfortunately the entire class is on ALEKS and literally everyone is working at different paces/on different material and as you might guess this makes it hard for him to be available
He has absolutely no interest in the students' needs. He talks very quietly, with a heavy accent, and refuses to use the full space of the whiteboard when lecturing so his writing is too small to read. He makes frequent errors in his work. He gets annoyed if you ask him questions, makes homework due before the class has reached the material, ect.
Very rude and disrespectful, expected us to know what to do and was hoping we had already done assignments by the time we were in class the first day. To top everything off he has a very thick accent that makes it very hard to understand him , avoid his classes.
I took him in Math 1314 and pre Cal and now Cal 1, he is really cool, pushes hard to do your best, which is hard for a lot of people i would assume, but really if you give it your all, you would get an A easily
One of the worst professors I've had. The homework on MML wasn't in sync with his lectures. The tests were also nothing like the lectures, he only covered very simple material in lectures while the test contained more complex problems he either made up or took from the book. Slow grader and very condescending; offers nothing during office hours.
Terrible teacher that would not even give us a review to work with for the finals, expects us to make the class our life.
If your not at the best at math,i don't recommend this professor. His lecture doesn't teach the same thing as the homework through pearson. Reference sheets or study cards with just formulas are not permitted. So if you can't remember formulas..i don't recommend. He's hard on attendance, as he drives 1hr or so to class everyday and expects same.
I wouldn't recommend this professor if you don't have a lot of time on your hands and have a hard time understanding math. I ended up teaching myself most of the material. I've also never had a teacher who says things like, "if you have a hard time understanding, you can just google it nowadays." Math is very hands on learning, so this upset me.
He is very dedicated and would likr the students to be dedicated .
Be sure to put in the work, he will help you if you put in the work.
Difficult class with an unengaged professor. Lectures were lacklustre, and tests didn't align with covered material. Unstuck ai was a lifesaver for extra practice though.
Attendance is mandatory. Honestly taught myself throughout the course. Wouldn't take again.
Professor Ola Disu is very dedicated, compassionate and demanding. He knows mathematics and likes students to participate during class lectures.
Stutters often, makes mistakes often, has a very hard-to-understand accent, is impatient with and bad at answering questions, is condescending toward students and not considerate of their needs, assigns a lot of homework, and will get upset if you do not write down everything he says or if you take notes on a computer. Do not take if possible.
Professor Disu is awesome! I really don't know why he has so many bad reviews. The work load is not that bad and he will tell you not to miss his class. It has definitely been a struggle for me this semester but I can't complain because I will still apply myself. No EXCUSES! How bad do you want it?
Anyone that rated Professor Ola poorly is just used to being coddled. If the accent was an issue for you, good; it builds character and cultural awareness. Professor Ola is definitely not the kind of professor you can expect to manipulate; he sets clear expectations from the jump. If you can manage that and remain humble during lecture, you'll pass.
Yes Disu is a somewhat difficult prof, but don't let the bad reviews discourage you! If you pay attention in lecture, complete the HW, and study, you can easily get an A. Sometimes he is hard to understand and doesnt answer questions clearly, but dont let that stop you from passing. It may be a bit difficult with Disu, but if you work you can pass.
Professor Disu is very knowledgable but I did not find his class enjoyable. More often than not, I found myself lost in the lectures and teaching myself the material rather than learning from him. His accent is a little difficult to understand at times, and he wasn't particularly good at answering questions. Review material didn't align with tests.
His class isn't difficult if you pay attention and participate. He gives opportunities for extra credit throughout the semester, and there are in-class review sessions and study materials for all the tests. The amount of homework is more than reasonable.
He has a deep knowledge of the course. He is very demanding . He expects students to be dedicated .He is very caring and just.
