Hottest Professor on Campus! Very intelligent and very beautiful. Willing to help. Did I mention Hot!
Hardcore about Calc, but all in all a very good professor. Very willing to help.
She thinks no end of herself!
Very nice teacher. A little har to understand at times, but then again I showed up for about half the classes.
Very confusing approach to the class, and she is not specific on what you are going to be tested on. Also she takes points off for the littlest things. If you don't learn it on your own, its going to be a long semester.
mmm yeah...she's really nice and helpful but grades were based on like three tests so if you bombed one you're f-ed. if calc doesnt come easy to you dont take her. i worked my butt off and got a D+.
First off, ignore the dumb-asses in the previous reviews. She is not hot (a little better off than other teachers maybe, but not hot). Ok off hand, she has a PHD and is a teacher who knows what shes talking about. If you go to her she WILL help. But, her
She is a pretty good teacher, but hard to understand at times.
Nice person, but I honestly don't think she knew calc III herself. I taught myself the 1st half of the year, but the 2nd half isn't too bad. Hard to understand at times, but she is hot. So if you wanna sit back and watch, you could do worse.
Looks, DD. Really nice teacher if you talk to her face to face. Sometimes shes hard to understand on the board. Hard ass tests! Some very boring lectures. She is a PHD, if you want a teacher who knows what shes doing in the extreme, it would be her. Mathamatically challenged people, not recommended.
hard to understand at times.
She is by far one of the best teachers I ever had, and she's pretty easy on the eyes as well. She is also very available for help if you don't understand something and does not try to talk down to you like some teachers will when you don't understand somet

Goes over a great deal of sample problems in class and really pushes you to do your best. Very helpful and always willing to answer questions, you're also free to slack off all you want and she'll have no sympathy for you if you didn't work hard.
Quizzes are 'easy', but just because you do well on them means nothing. Her accent doesn't help and shes expects you too know a lot, but we all forget things... I dont recommend her but then again your options are limited for Calc II. Good luck.
Olcay Ilicasu goes out of her way to make sure you undeestand the material. she knows the subject well.
i wish she would get back on the boat and go back.
She teaches Calc II very well and gives clear examples. Doesn't give massive amounts of homework, but enough so you understand the stuff. I think she's one of the best calc teachers I've had.
She is the best teacher I ever had. I recomend her for linear algebra. but she is not easy. if you dont pay attention or ask for help she wont give u any simpathy when you dont do well. as long as you try your best she will help you do your best. SHE IS AWESOME. I dont think I have ever learned this much before!!!
She has an accent but if you can look past that she's a good teacher. She gives good examples in class so if you attend class, take good notes, and study, you should do fine. She drops the lowest quiz grade at the end of the semester so you're allowed to have one bad day. She assigns homework but she never checks it.
she definitely knows calc 2 inside and out...but her way of presenting it to a class is disorganized, quick, and shuffled. calculators are not permitted, because we have to use our brains... her quizzes are tough, and only 2 questions each. barely gives partial credit. mess up once and you're done for. but you do leave the class A LOT smarter!!

dont take her if you want to pass.
what can i say about Ilicasu.. she has no heart, gives the hardest quizzes you've ever had, then gives even harder tests. the majority of the class failed. it was common for the smartest kids in the class to get 60s and 70s on quizzes. save yourself and just take it in the summer, unless you're really smart or you want to destroy your gpa
ok so lots of people have told me calc 2 was hard. ilicasu proved EVERYONE to be 100% correct. rediculous quizzes, BARELY any partial credit. she has NO problem failing 1/2 the class, which she did. take this class if you want to study your *** off and get a D.
Honors calc 2 is suicidally difficult. She has shown everyone even if you got a 5 on the AP it is still possible to fail her class. She spends an incredible amount of time on pointless articles and not enough time teaching us what is going to be on the quiz. and we have to write a 2500 word paper on newton vs berkely.
It seems difficult, but she makes you think. Its honors calc, so be prepared to work. If you need help, just ask her and she'll explain it all. Also, she drops the lowest two quiz scores and has no problem curving the course. Its worth the effort. Plus, did I mention it was an honors course?
Had her for Linear Algebra, and Calc II, twice. Course is hard, but manageable. you have to go to class. she is very willing to help and gives great examples and wants you to do well. at the same time she has no problem failing any and everyone. class is hard, but not necessarily because of her.
the class is difficult, but she tries to make it as easy for you as possible. she gives great in class examples, the tests and quizzes are on the hw so it's really helpful to do it, and she'll gladly answer and questions you have with detailed explanations. i loved her.
well t/a is supposed to be easyer than 1 but it was still hard.math is hard. you learn alot from her though if your like me you will do well on the little quizes then do not so good on the mid terms and final. I dont know how that happens but it will.in all pretty good for such a **** subject
Really hard class. Did real well on the quizzes but mid term and final were really difficult. She's hard to understand at times, but she means well and is willing to help
quizzes weren't too bad, final was impossible and 33% of the grade. if you can avoid her, try. if not, study really hard.
Loved this teacher plan on taking her for as many math classes as possible. She made the material easy to understand. Very fair with homework and quizzes. Test were kind of long but everything is always from the homework. Attendance is a must to her and she never lets you out early but she is the most helpful teacher I have ever had
Very tough, but you learn a lot by the end of the semester. ~Numerical Analysis Student
Dr. Ilicasu is the best professor in the math department. I've taken her for 4 classes because I love her so much. She will make you work hard for your grade, but by the end of the semester, you will know your stuff. And she cares about her students, she is always willing to help you as much as she can. One of the best professors I have ever had.
Hard class but she will help you.
She was nice but her class was ridiculously difficult.
Really Really hard. She will help you if you ask for it, but her quiz/exam questions are ridiculously hard and annoying. You will have to do alot of work outside of class to get even close to a good grade. Avoid if possible. If not possible, take other easy classes, because you will spend most of your time studying for this.
By far the worst I've had yet. Extremely difficult and she teaches more math history than actual math. She also teaches math you don't care about like the extreme detail of the limit. She also has completely bogus tests that don't test you on what you learned in class.
very nice lady, willing to help you, hard to understand her, class very difficult, don't teach from the book, homework takes a long time to do and she rarely checks it, tests and exams extremely difficult even if you study for days
She is by far ,y hardest professor I have had yet, but I would take her again in a heartbeat. She is a very tough grader and goes a little too in depth with some topics, but overall she wants you to do well and will help you if you ask her too.
She is a bit hard to understand but she will spoon feed you everything and the tests were incredibly easy multiple choice format. One of the easiest math classes I've ever had.
She is the hardest professor I've ever had in math. She moves very quickly and it's hard to keep up. Before this class I was very confident in Calculus. After, not so much. It was extremely hard.
This was the hardest class I have ever taken. I have never gotten below an A in any math class prior to this but this class I STRUGGLED for a C. She moves very fast and her exams are impossible don't expect a curve either. You do learn a lot but your GPA suffers for it. Expect to do calc at least an extra 5-6 hrs outside of class a week
Dr. Ilicasu is an outstanding teacher. She is very comprehensive and expects you to learn the material. Her tests aren't impossible; they're fair. Homework is lengthy, but she spends time making sure you understand. I love her teaching style and she definitely is looking out for her students. Take her class; you will be well prepared for the future
She was very thorough and taught the material using a lot of examples. Flowed seemlessly through topics which made learning a lot easier. Expects a lot of memorization but other than that is an awesome professor I would take her again for any subject. Was a Summer class so lack of time made it harder to memorize things. But no other complaints
She is a great professor, but if you want an A in her class, be prepared to work for it. She really makes sure you understand the material and tests you thoroughly on it. Grading-wise she is very fair, and will curve tests slightly if necessary; but don't count on big curves to save your grade. She clearly enjoys teaching, which I think is crucial
She is a good teacher but the quizzes are like 5 questions so if you get two wrong, you are done. She seems very very nice and passionate but I am a little scared to stay after alone with her. She is so extremely intelligent that it is sometimes very intimidating. I work very hard in this class but I have unfortunately been bombing every quiz..
She is very intelligent and passionate, but will make you work for every point. Her tests were very difficult and a lot of people failed. Her lectures were interesting and thorough, but tests were not like examples, and you really had to do the homework and practice A LOT.
I thought that numerical analysis would be an easy A, but after the first test I had a Num Anal!!!
Her class was tough, I'm not gonna lie. There is an essay halfway through the course. Quizzed almost every week but only a midterm and final exam. Her grading is pretty tough, but if you get on her good side, you will be okay.
Dr. Ilicasu held a tough course but she was always willing to help out her students. There was only one mid-term and a final with quizzes throughout the semester. Expect homework to always be assigned and it will be collected. If you miss a class, good luck passing the next quiz. She is genuinely nice and is tough strictly for her students sake.
I thought she was a wonderful teacher, she is so incredibly smart and it's actually very intimidating. Don't expect to hide and not participate in class because she calls on everyone several times throughout class. She is very willing to help when there's confusion and tries hard to have her students understand the content. I highly recommend her.
Had her for Calc 3, three quarters of the class failed her first exam. You will take more notes on the first day than you have all of college! Had to drop her class but was able to get an A with a different professor.
There were two midterms and a final. Throughout the semester, there were about 7-9 quizzes, but she dropped two of them. While a lot of people in my class didn't do well, I thought she was an excellent professor. She tried clarifying at any moment. If you truly have a passion for math, you'll click with her right away. The key to success is trying.
We had two exams, a paper and the final. This meant that if you did poorly on just two of these you pretty much failed the class already. She teaches exclusively by examples, which would be okay if she assigned reading, rather then just assuming that you already know Calculus. You will either need a basis in Calculus or a lot of hard work to pass.
Professor Ilicasu was and will always be the worst professor I have ever had in my life. She's rude and so smart that she gets angry at the fact that her students don't understand the information as well as her. Never take her unless u want to fail cuz she can't teach for anything
She is one of the best professors I have had. While her class is not easy, she genuinely cares for the students and was particularly lenient about grading this semester. Do not take her if you want to breeze through with an easy A, but if you would like to learn with an intelligent professor who cares about her students, then this class is for you.
Dr. Ilicasu is extremely nice however I found her class extremely difficult. I had her for a summer course and she rushed through material and expected us to have a lot of background knowledge. If you're looking for an easy A, choose a different professor.
I'm in her class right now and will probably withdraw. She is an awful teacher. She has a rule where you can't go to the bathroom and if you do she will stop class and explain you are being rude. Her tests are nearly impossible, they would possibly be ok if she didn't limit the time you have to take them. She also treats students as less than her.
Those who complain about her probably aren't too strong in math. Mdrn Alg. is a challenging class that forces students to think differently than they're used to, but it's easier to blame the prof than yourself. She was very caring but reasonably strict. She was fair with my class and I'm just about average at math; I got an A. GO TO OFFICE HOURS!
I had Ilicasu for honors calc 1. There are very few grades in the course, and she doesn't use Blackboard to post these grades. Doing well on tests is essential. She is fair and kind, and speaking with her during office hours is super helpful. She's incredibly smart, but she has very high standards and the class will absolutely be a challenge.
Don't take honors calc 1. She makes you write absurdly long papers on doctorate level math. She also reminded us over and over to study certain topics for the final, then didn't put them on. She only calls on people who don't have their hands raised, and 8 of 18 kids in my class dropped after one day to take a 7:35 am instead, I wish I did.
We had to write an in depth paper on Isaac Newton's mathematics for honors Calc 1. The tests were fairly tough, and some of the homework was annoying. She was fairly strict but also reasonable if you talked to her. Not something I would have done as a freshman.
I loved Professor Ilicasu. I took her during Rowan's 1st summer session of Calc I (5 weeks). Though there was an exam every week, she made sure that everyone understood the material before moving on. She is very caring and definitely one of the best professors I've had.
she bad
I never understood anything she was talking about.
Terrible professor! Her explanation is harder than it should be and even so, it doesn't help at all. None of the students in class understands what's going on and majority are currently failing. She only gives 1 test and it's extremely difficult. So if you fail the one test, you basically failed the class. I would avoid taking her in any course.
Discrete Structures is a very tough class in general, but the way she taught it left a lot to be desired. Even going to office hours and doing the homework, I still ended up dropping the course, as she did not give any practice assignments and, as the textbook does not give many solutions, you never knew if you did the homework right.
She tries to make lectures interesting, but her teaching style isnt the best. She would call on whoever she wanted, so pay attention. You only have 1 exam and the final so you should continuously study (they will be very difficult and are heavily weighted). Quizzes are doable and you have a long essay but its not impossible. She never checked hw
There are only 2 tests that are each 25% of your grade: the midterm and the final. There is book work problems but she never checks them. There is a 2,000 word essay, but it sounds harder than it actually is. There are group quizzes. She is definitely more difficult than most professors, but she is a pretty easy grader and gives partial credit.
Do Not take this professor. This class is a Calculus II class labeled as a calculus I. She is very intelligent and expects everyone to know the material already. She will not except the way that you learned calculus in high school even if you show all your work and get the right answer. She will teach it her way only, which becomes confusing!
I am personally not strong in the Math subject, so professor Olcay's class was even harder for me. You are only graded on tests. She gives a ton of homework, but does not check it, and you are not graded on it. If you do not perform high on the tests, you will struggle. Do not take if math is not your strong subject. It is a very tough class.
Prof Ilicasu was interesting to say the least. I often left her class feeling very confused BUT she does care about her students and is more than willing to help. She doesn't care how you leanred calc before though, its her way or the highway. She's very strict on no phones and you're not allowed to use the bathroom either.
Worst professor ever. do not take her. she doesn't explain at all. She calls on random people and basically makes them feel stupid. She doesn't care if you fail. Do not take her.
She's an awesome person and really knows her stuff. However having her as a teacher is not something you want. The class is very disorganized in my opinion. It would be very helpful if she posed worksheets or something on blackboard so we know what to study. simply gives weird lectures and then gives you a test date.
She's very nice and approachable but as the semester goes on you slowly realize that she could literally care less if her students succeed in the course. I dont recommend her if you care about having a professor that cares about how well you do in the course
Chances you regret taking her are higher than snoop dog
Dr. Ilicasu is without a doubt the worst professor I've ever had. Her tests were always ridiculously harder than anything else we had done. We had to write a 10 page paper and never learned our grade for it. She doesn't respect her students. All other calc teachers are much more helpful and won't destroy your GPA. STAY FAR FAR AWAY from her.
lectures didn't make sense, tests were hard, and she does not care. math isnt my best subject but i was fine in previous math classes. she would not work with me on my grade or help me just to pass. worst experience ever.
TAKE ANYONE BESIDES HER. I am a fairly good math student, but the way she taught the class was not very helpful. Rather than the tests being on stuff we learned, she would make them on things that we had just briefly talked about, so that the tests would "challenge us". I have never taken a professor as hard as this in my life.
She reminded me of a very strict middle school teacher. Pros: she wants you to succeed, and her lectures are pretty good. Cons: she treats you like your 12, she flips out if your phone is out on the desk or if you leave to go to the bathroom, and she scolds the class if everyone does poorly on an exam.
Prof Ilicasu is the worst teacher I have ever had. She's rude and disrespectful to her students. She came in one day and gave us a quiz even though she never told us about it and insisted that we all forgot we had a quiz. The only reason I did well in her class is because I had a really good Calc teacher in hs and I went to Ilicasu's office hours.
Nice woman, very helpful and wants you to succeed but makes you work for it. Even if you have taken Calc 1 in HS and did well, this class will be challenging.
took her honors class and its by far the hardest class ive taken at rowan. i was constantly scared i was failing because she doesnt post grades at all, and her exams and quizzes are impossible. lectures are all lengthy complicated problems that are hard to follow. she assigned a 5-6 page paper that we never got a grade for. also very condescending
I love math! Dr. I clearly loves math too! She is a good human and I would like her if she was not my teacher, however as a teacher she is a serious nightmare. She never is clear on when there are tests, quizzes, or graded online homework. She has no respect for those who work. She assigns things on a whim and makes them due in 24hr. Frustrating!
Probably one of the hardest professors I have ever taken. I am good at math, but the lectures were incredibly hard to understand with few examples that were actually seen on tests. Assigns homework/projects out of the blue with no warning and does not prepare students well for tests which are challenging and different from anything seen in class
I'm not the best at math but this prof didn't make things any easier. She's willing to help, but can embarrass students who aren't quick on their feet or naturally talented at math. You need to show up to every lecture no matter what. Nothing is a valid excuse to her. I put a lot into this class for nothing back. Without P/NC, I would have failed.
She seems like a nice enough person but if you value your mental health don't take her. 6 or 7 quizzes, the quiz average is 30% of final grade, 1 Test halfway through the semester worth 30% of final grade, and final is worth 30% of our grade. 10% of grade is participation and you lose all 10% if your phone is out twice during the whole semester.
awful professor who does not care about her students. she refuses to give any sort of help or accommodations to any of her students, even those with written ones. she just talks and writes on the whiteboard without showing anything useful. her lectures are less informative than looking a half assed pdf online.
Do not take for discrete structures. She does not provide answers for ungraded homework. She overexplains relatively simple concepts, and then brushed over the more difficult topics. Assignments are always posted late. Do not recommend for freshman just adjusting to college classes.
when she posts homework it often will be completely different than what is on tests and quizzes making it really hard to study for them she has a weird grading layout, which I normally wouldn't have an issue with, but she hasn't posted a single grade since the class started making it impossible to know how I'm doing
Do not choose her if you expect to pass the class. Worst teacher I have ever had.
A total waste of time. Avoid at all costs.
If you are reading this do not take any class associated with this professor. Lectures the entire class and even goes over the time limit. The online homework looks nothing like what's gone over in class. Also, the strictest professor you will see. If she sees your phone, you get points taken away like in elementary school.
I took this class because her reviews on here weren't bad compared to others but I regret that. Her teaching style is all over the place and difficult to follow. Lots of the homework problems were way different than what we covered in class. She also never posts grades so you don't know how you're doing in the class until the semester ends.
Not good, what I really think has been removed 3 times.
the worst professor I've had in my college. had to drop the class because I couldn't stand her. So strict. Can't leave classroom AT ALL, not even to use the bathroom unless it's an "emergency" like fifth grade. Went long over ending time. Hard to understand. Puts students on spot a lot. has zero sympathy. do not take her class LISTEN TO ME
She's the professor you fear to get. She doesn't tell you what your grade is until the semester ends, teaches awfully, and is rarely available to help you since you are one of 20 students who's questions she has to answer. There's two tests, each makes up 25% of your grade, and there are no curves. the rest of your grade comes from graded homework.
probably the worst professor I've ever seen at a college campus. doesn't let you leave the classroom & will throw a tantrum if you do about how its distracting. Phone are an immediate loss of all participation points for the entire semester. Homework everyday. Rowan has 15+ math teachers, my suggestion is find one of them
I'm sorry for you if you are in one of her classes.
Dr. I is a great calc professor. Attendance is mandatory & no tech. She knows what she's doing, is super helpful at office hours, and encourages students to reach out to her out of class. She also drops the lowest quiz grade. Most things are on paper, but she does give a few online webwork assignments, those usually have five attempts per question
Dr. I. was a pretty good prof for Numerical. She clearly cares about her students that put in the work. However, she does leave a little to be desired. She is big on no phones or laptops, which does not make much sense considering the course is on Numerical Analysis. Her course was also very fast-paced. It would have helped had there been a book.
doesn't allow for bathroom breaks during class, stops lecture if anyone is seen having their phone anywhere but inside their backpack, no partial credit on tests (which are a total of 75% of overall grade), hard to understand, will randomly call on people and embarrass them if they don't know the answer. is accessible outside of class, though
Believe every. single. comment. below. This was absolutely the bane of my existence. Textbook is terrible to understand and she does not teach in relation to it so it's hard to do self study. Grades are never posted, and mid teaching style. Test are interesting, you may study and never see it. Rare examples in class & lectures are never posted.
Avoid this professor at all costs. Her teaching style is disjointed, and the homework is totally disconnected from the lectures. Using Unstuckstudy and staying off your phone are musts to survive this class.
This is clearly someone who wanted to be a high school teacher but she was too smart for it so she taught college students. You have to ask to go to the bathroom, and unless it's an emergency she most likely won't let you. You are not allowed to use calculators most the time, and her lectures make no sense. Do not take her class.
DON'T take her. She just makes the class way more difficult and annoying than it has to be. You can tell she likes math and the subject but the way she goes about trying to get her students involved is just a nuisance. There is way more effective teaching methods without trying to scare your students or make it seem really hard.
STAY AWAY OMG PLZ, this class was genuinely the hardest class i have ever took so far. I am just a freshman and have no concept of what to look out for. But please if you want to enjoy ur college years do not take her.
Can't really give her anything more than a 2. She gives 3 tests and a final. Gives homework every week but doesn't look at it or grade it. Doesn't post grades. Will cold call you. And just a professor you don't want to take if you want to get a good grade in a class. Plenty of other better professors at Rowan.
Ilicasu was such a kindhearted professor, she assigned 3-4 WebWorks that were graded. All the homework problems in the text were ungraded but good review. The quizzes/Final looked exactly like things that were discussed in class. Opens up the floor for homework questions and does them on the board and explains fully. I had no issues getting an A
Worst professor at Rowan. teaches calc 2 and numerical analysis in calc 1. Teaches like garbage. Cold calls on everybody every class. ZERO technology allowed in the class. goes warning->participation grade drop->0 in participation. You have to ask to use the bathroom or leave the room or she yells at you. No calculators in exam. Avoid at all costs.
She was a very good teacher and i understood the concepts, so I will be able to take it in the winter and pass, but the tests ARE INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT- UNBELIEVABLY HARD- DO NOT TAKE THIS IF YOU WANT TO PASS THE FIRST TIME THROUGH
Although she seems like a nice enough person, her as a teacher is nothing short of challenging. She cold calls, assigns lots of problems from the textbook for homework (which she doesn't grade) and is VERY test heavy. Each test is worth 20%, but the lowest one drops to 10%. There are 5 total. No quizzes. Nothing to balance your grade out. AVOID.
Prof. Ilicasu is a professor who is very willing to help and very passionate about mathematics IF AND ONLY IF you are willing to put the time in yourself. 3 exams + 1 final worth 90%, 5% attendance, 5% mathematica assignment. Do ALL the HW problem sets, her exams are very similar to them. She gives out extra credit if class is performing bad.
