He does not teach concepts , just solves problems in a heavy accent so you do not learn anything from his lectures. If you have no earlier knowledge of statics it will be a frustrating experience. He's an intelligent and nice guy but he simply cannot teach.

He cant teach statics, he just writes problems that he has pre-solved on the projector. cant speak English well, and has a thick accent. he grades super hard and makes fun of our class for doing poorly on his exams. the average grade on our second test was 45%. if he is your only option for statics you are better off waiting.

EM 324 is just a hard class. Oleg made it bearable. His class is reversed, so you watch lectures outside of class time then take quizzes in class. Although this took time to get used to, overall it helped my learning a lot. This class will take a lot of time, so try your best to not take 18 credits at the same time.

Great Professor. I took the class over the summer and it was very manageable. The class was one hour a day on weekdays. Homework varied but was around an hour a day with some being 5 minutes with others taking two-plus. If you do the homework and show up to class you will get an A. I worked 40 hours a week and was able to get a B.

Oleg was great! He responds to you at obscure hours, however, the class is difficult if you get 1 thing wrong :( Team based learning & having lectures before class aka the zoom call was extremely beneficial. I wish we had more time on tests!! 2 questions with multiple parts, only 25min/question & 5min to upload answers to Canvas was tricky to do.

The class format is a lot of work with watching lectures before class but the online lectures are useful and make the class time useful to seeing problems and going more in-depth on the topics. Take mechanics with him you will not regret it.

Professor Oleg is a great professor. EM 324 is a flipped class and TBL- meaning you watch the lectures before class and work on problems as a group during the scheduled lecture time. I was apprehensive about TBL at first but this class totally changed my mind. To do well in this class, you need to watch the lectures and do HW before class.

By far, the most accessible professor at Iowa State. He has a Telegram group chat set up for the entire class and is constantly responding to students' questions, and is very transparent about learning expectations. Also a very nice guy.

Solid professor who knows the content well and is accessible to teach it to you. He also believes practice is key to understanding, so he assigns a ton of homework. The in-class problems will prepare you for the exam, so it is easy to learn the content just by participating.

So this is a hard class, and he does his absolute best to teach it. He will respond to any questions within 10 minutes on telegram usually. Genuinely seems like a very caring guy who wants his students to succeed. The team-based learning sounds undesirable at first, but I really enjoyed it after a bit once you get to know your teammates.

When it comes down to it, this course was a prime example of what happens when laziness and apathy overshadow genuine education. The instructor's lack of effort and disinterest in their students' success made for a terrible learning experience. I strongly advise against choosing a course with Oleg.

He was an amazing professor who really seemed to care about the success of his students. The class is flipped, and the designated lecture time used for practice in groups. Having other students there to talk to and practice with makes learning and asking for help a lot less stressful and it makes class more fun.

Oleg is a great professor, I respect him and his teaching, and would gladly take a class he teaches again. The course setup was awful, with it being online group work, and requiring both the homework and lectures being done out of class. Didn't make connections, didn't work as a team, and class felt pointless, but Oleg was always there to help.

The course EM 324 is based on TBL method and you watch lecture videos ahead of class and then answer top hat question in class which is about 15% of the grade. Oleg is barely accessible out of class but is available on telegram anytime of the day. He is hilarious but also wants full attention and participation from students while in class.

Oleg was an incredible professor. He was available through the telegram system when help was needed and was enthusiastic/willing to provide help if I was stuck. There is A LOT of HW in the class and I STRONGLY recommend doing it all. Doing the HW itself preps you quite well for the exams. Top Hat is rough sometimes (half-credit participation).

I really really enjoyed Mechanics with Oleg. He put us in teams that we sat with the whole semester and had a flipped classroom, where we watch lectures outside of class and work on 2 example problems in class. He really really cares about you passing the class and is available on Telegram at almost any hour of the day. Seriously great professor!!!

Dont get me wrong. This is a hard class, and its going to take a lot of your time for it. Oleg im sure is a really good professor, and I liked him, just not as much the teaching style. At times it did, but at times it also didnt 'click' for me with the way he was teaching. There is a lot of homework, which is to be expected from a summer class.

Oleg has a thick accent that can be hard to understand sometimes but if you need him to repeat something just ask. Class is structured around vids outside of class then group work in class for credit. Doing well in this class takes commitment but if you do everything he asks then you will do well. The TA's are also usually good.
