Olga, Olga, Olga...What shall we do with you? She is a nice woman who I think genuinely wants her students to succeed. However, you can't understand a word she says and I don't think she understands the stundents questions either. Even basic concepts I had learned in 6th grade, I walked away extremely confused. This is a teach yourself class.
Basically you can't understand her accent...enough said
This is by far the hardest class I have this yr.She makes everything more complicated then it needs to be.You cannot understand a word she says because of her accent, which adds to the confusion. She seems like she wants to help, but she doesn't like to e-mail and it's hard to understand her.DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU DO NOT KNOW CALCULUS
Honestly, she's not that bad. She does have a heavy accent (Russian, W's become V's mainly) but I never had trouble understanding her. I hate math but her class was bearable. Understandable if you keep up, homework not required, and online class notes that have all the formulas you need. All you should ask for in a math class, IMO.
Aside from the fact that I couldn't pronounce her last name, and called her professor all semester, and that she was hard to understand, she was pretty good. She did make simple concepts difficult to understand which left me extremely frustrated but she has a good heart.
Kozubenko is friendly and nice, however she doesn't really help that much at all. Her notes and examples in class are good but when it comes to asking questions and getting good answers, she is useless. Her class is pretty easy if you know the material already but if you're going in with no prior knowledge, you're going to have to teach yourself.
I didn't think her accent was that bad, its a little heavy but definitely understandable. I've never taken stats before and the second half of this semester was really hard for me. Definitely do that hw for this class it will help, going to class I didn't really find was all that helpful...but probably still a good idea to go anyways.
One of my favorite professors. She's willing to help with any concept you don't understand. I would love to have her again if I had a chance.
NEVER LIKED MATH! Came into this class and rocked it! Awesome teacher. You will get use to her accent. Explains everything so well. The notes and the hw are so worth it. They mirror the quizzes and tests very well. Never gotten an A or loved math until this class. Be aware, show work or miss tons of easy points. Show up to class and you'll be fine!
Worst math teacher, I couldn't deal with her accent, pretty sure we were in a big social experiment seeing how kids deal with learning from a Russian math teacher. I'd say avoid, but if you already know the material, by all means this class will be easy.
I?ve enjoyed being in her class. Good explanation.
Olga is hard to understand because of her thick accent. She has class notes that you have to print off before every class, which is annoying but can be really helpful. If you haven't taken Stats before this class can be challenging but if you took Stats in high school you should be fine. Definitely do the homework even though it isn't mandatory.
Good professors. Going to her class and taking notes are very helpful. Also, she is always available and willing to help during her office hours. Even though she has a little accent, I would defiantly take her again. If you really want to learn math concept, this is the right instructor for you.
she is very enthusiatic and helpful. f you will ak for help she won't leave till you get the concept one of the hardest working teachers at Gonzaga
Fun, easy to understand her teaching, willing to help you out. Really enjoyed this class!
Olga is very detailed in her lectures and makes the work very understandable. She is willing to help you better understand as well.
Olga was a very good teacher; I would say that she is very intelligent and willing to help
Very organized and approachable would recommend taking. If you study you will do well, she is a good prof.
She is fabulous! Super clear! Tells you what you really need to know. not the most approachable but is wiling to help her students.
Prof Kozubenko is a great professor who teaches well and is easy to approach outside of class.
Great Instructor, explained material well and answered questions in an understandable way.
I would say she is very nice and explains things clearly. She pauses often to see if everyone understands it or has questions. She has no problem slowing down and re-explaining concepts.
Prof. Kozunbenko was good at preparing for tests, and fair at grading them. She was well organized and quick to return tests and quizzes. She explained concepts clearly. She is also approachable outside class. She is very helpful in office hours. Statisting can get sonfusing, so do your homework. An A is definitely attainable.
She has a strong accent and is hard to understand. Does not explain everything well and there are a lot of tests and quizzes. Do not take.
This class was awesome! Although Professor Kozubenko does have an accent it isn't too noticeable and you get used to it really fast. She is extremely helpful and wants everyone to succeed. If a lot of people get a bad grade on a quiz sometimes she'll just give everyone 100% on it, she's really flexible about that sort of thing and gives EC on tests
I would say that she is very nice and helpful. She doesn't surprise you on tests everything you need to know you go over in class and she tries hard to help you understand the material. Also, the handouts and study guides were extremely helpful.
Very willing to help students succeed and extremely enthusiastic about course. Lectures were clear and organized, and if you don't understand, she is very willing to meet up with you.
I would say that Olga is completely determined to take as much time as possible to ensure that the student fully understands the material. Great teacher!
She's great! She really wants her students to succeed and will explain the material very well.
Olga was the worst professor I ever had. She is not very clear and doesn't explain what is on the homework and tests.
Olga is a great math teacher, but she isn't going to hold your hand through the course. If you need help, you need to ask her directly and she will help you until you get it. She really cares about the students and works with you and wants you to succeed. She's very clear in what she wants and has guided notes for every chapter. Take her!!
I found this class pretty straight forward. If you come to every class, takes notes of her examples in class, and do the non-mandatory homework she assigns when you feel lost you should get an A. Only need an 88% for an A. Grade is based on coming to class, 8 quizzes, 4 tests, and a final. Once you get passed her accent shes really fun and easy!
Professor Kozubenko is really kind and she wants everyone to do well. She notices if you don't care or if you miss class, so you do have to put in some work. The class is really easy if you have taken clac before and hard, but manageable if you haven't. The lectures are consistent, and the tests are not too bad.
If you've taken calculus before, this class is a breeze. I was in that situation and found the course to be incredibly easy. However, if you haven't taken calculus, you MUST do the optional homework problems if you hope to do well on exams. The material is covered at a fast pace.
I would say she was excellent at explaining the material and she was very clear and concise when answering questions. I would suggest this teacher to anyone who needs to take this class.
She's a very good teacher! Very helpful and understanding. I really learned a lot in this class and ended up doing well.
Olga is very clear, which is most important when it comes to math. I hadn't taken calc before, but still managed to get through 114 which introduces a lot of advanced math. She was a great professor, even if the class moved really fast in general.
She is a great teacher who has very clear teaching instructions and really wants her students to succeed.
Olga is very helpful. She answers questions clearly and explains problems as we work through them. She is a very passionate person and she made things simple.
Olga is a pretty decent professor. Some people may find her accent hard to understand, but you will get used to it. She is willing to help you with concepts you don't understand and the class itself isn't too bad if you study adequately.
Olga is a good math teacher, takes a while to get used to accent but I would prefer her over any other professors I've heard about.
Olga is very nice, helpful, understanding, and always willing to meet with you to improve your skills. Her tests are difficult, but the right kind of difficult. There is a purpose to everything in her class. No busy work.
Olga is a good teacher. She has an accent but you get used to it. Do your homework though - that is the best way to get through math easily. Her tests are exactly like the study guides she gives out, so memorize how to do everything on the guide and you should be good. I think she is one of the better math teachers at Gonzaga.
I would highly recommend Olga. She teaches everything clearly, the class is organized well, she is a fast and fair grader and helps prepare you for exams. She is very kind and I hope to take her classes again!
Her grading was clear and her lectures well organized. Personally, I struggle with math so I got confused sometimes with her accent and the 2 group projects we did. I recommend a study group. If you are good at math, this class will be very easy. She is funny and sometimes gave us full points for our homework because she didn't want to grade it.
I loved having Olga! She can be a little intimidating at first but she really wants her students to excel. Her study guides help so much for her exams and her quizzes are very clear if you review the material. I never had a problem in her class and would very highly recommend!
Dr. Kozubenko was a great instructor who kept things simple and made the class entertaining. Always willing to help and makes sure the students understand. She has a great sense of humor and is very nice. She's awesome!
Olga is terrible. I got stuck because I was admitted into Gonzaga so late, but do not take this class. She expects you to print out the notes daily, and if you don't she will come up to your laptop and just shut it. She expects you to know all the information before she even teaches it. She constantly makes me feel stupid. Terrible professor.
Olga's teaching was very hard to understand because all she really did was write numbers as quickly as she could on the board, and not really give us much time to understand the work. The tests were challenging because each multiple choice question was worth 4 points, so you're already at and A- if you miss 2 questions. She gives some free grades.
Let me tell you about Olga...I am 1 month into 2nd semester and I despise this woman. When students ask questions, she makes us feel dumb and she overcomplicates everything. Also, she has an extremely thick Russian accent that is super hard to understand. I would highly recommend avoiding her classes at all cost.
Olga is nice and very helpful. Always offers help and is fair on grading. She explains everything you need to know.
The professor always had lessons, review packets and review packet key guides for every chapter Having those available on blackboard helped a lot if I needed to go back to check my answers or a certain step. I would say take this course because Olga is very helpful, kind and keeps the class interesting.
Honestly Olga is a pretty good professor, she knows the material and can help in certain situations but I had to do a lot of studying outside the class. I believe that she could make her class easier by being more available for help. The class is tough but she does a solid job of covering the material. Find a study buddy.
The biggest downside to her is understanding her sometimes, she has a thick Russian accent so sometimes words get lost. All the notes for the class are online for each class including examples and content covered. Doesn't take attendance so if you need to miss a class, this is it. She will mess up some problems so its important to double check her.
Olga makes fun of students when they get questions wrong. She is incredibly rude and unhelpful if you ask for help in class. She expects you to learn the content at her pace, which is ridiculously fast, especially for those who haven't taken calculus before (over half the class). I will never understand how this woman got a job at Gonzaga.
I would say this teacher was amazing and made math fun and easy to understand. She was also available when I needed help.
Professor Olga is the best! She teaches well and her exams are fair. The material is hard at first, but the homework helps.
Olga is very funny and her class is very organized and straight forward. She is friendly, easy-going, and approachable. Sympathetic towards the students.
Olga was accessible to reach for help but intimidating in office hours. Her accent became difficult so I moved to the front of the class to better understand her while she lectured. She is professional and knowledgeable and took time to explain concepts if you were stuck. Overall good teacher, but a little difficult to understand.
This is possible the worst class I've ever taken. Quiz questions are way harder than the homework and material covered in class. I cry over this class multiple times a week. Find a different prof.
Olga was undoubtedly the worst teacher I have ever had. If you have not taken pre-calculus before, prepare to spend up to 8 hours per week learning the content. Her notes do not correlate to the quizzes whatsoever and I learned more from youtube than I ever did from her. Drop her course while you can, it won't get any easier as the year goes on.
Olga is a very nice professor, however, her teaching did not help me in any way shape or form. This class is test heavy, and her lectures are nearly impossible to watch. I have cried many times a week because of this class and would not recommend. Especially if math is not your strong suit. I haven't learned anything during this class. Not fun!!
Grade is based on 3 exams, 12 quizzes, and the final. Homework is not graded. It was a hybrid class this semester due to COVID and the prof DID NOT teach the material. We learned everything from pre-recorded lectures so it was like watching YouTube videos. Class time was for questions only.
This was the worst class I've ever taken. Olga barely taught us the material and expected us to be able to complete weekly quizzes and huge exams. Your grade is made up of 3 exams, 14 quizzes and the final. Olga can be funny and nice sometimes, but especially during the pandemic she does not do well with the online format. If you get her, good luck
If you have not taken calculus before, avoid Olga at all costs. I cried over this class more times than I can count. If you fall behind it is almost impossible to catch up. The lectures are vague and I usually had to get supplemental help in office hours or from online videos to understand content. If you have to take her, find study buddies.
Math 104. The worst class I have ever taken. This was taught as a hybrid format meaning half in-person and half online. The lecture was never given in class only prerecorded online with no option to ask questions except by email. When you ask for help she tells you to refer to the book even if you didn't understand how the book explained it.
I cried over this class way too much. Get a different professor if you can because Olga does not care. She is rude and when you ask for help she tells you to look at the textbook. I almost dropped out of this class and she never taught and we simply had to watch LONG pre-recorded lectures to learn. Take another professor and you will be fine.
I have never had a professor I truly disliked, but Olga is terrible. She seems nice, but she doesn't explain anything. She's unsympathetic to tech issues and intimidating in office hours. I taught myself everything for this course, and everyone I know struggled as well. If you want to keep good grades, she is a HARD AVOID.
I think the way professor Kozubenko taught the course material over zoom was good. She went in depth and made sure everyone could understand different ways of approaching a problem. The class notes and example problems in class were very helpful in learning the material. Overall, I had an incredibly positive experience in this class.
Pr. Kozubenko was organized and provided lots of extra time for class review and practice problems. Work was very hands on and examples covered in class were relevant in the homework, quizzes, and tests. I think this course opened my eyes to the usefulness of algebra outside of the college classroom. The structure of this course was pretty great.
This class isn't too bad if you consistently go to class. There's weekly quizzes and 4 unit tests which aren't too bad if you pay attention during class and complete the weekly problem sets. She's pretty nice and seems like she genuinely wants students to do well.
Professor Kozubenko is very easy to get ahold of which is nice for math questions and provides lots of time to complete the homework and quizzes. This course has prepared me for any math class at this university, as this one was quite challenging. I believe my ability in college algebra is now better after taking this course.
Olga is a really nice professor and I liked her a lot. The class is definitely challenging, but Olga gives you a ton of material to study for her tests. DO THE EXAM REVIEWS!! People don't give Olga enough credit- she's def the best professor for this course
Olga isnt always the best at explaining concepts + some words can get lost bc of her accent, but her practice exams prepare you well for each exam. Four exams, weekly quizzes & homework, and a final, so the work is doable and pretty spaced out.
Math 114 is a VERY difficult class. Its mostly advanced calc so I wouldn't recommend taking it unless you've taken an introductory calc/pre-calc class before. Despite this, Olga teaches the material very well, people just blame her for how hard the class is. It's simple: if you're not good at math take a different class, if you're good take Olga
Olga is the GOAT. Material is difficult, but she explains it really well. People on here talk about it being hard to understand her accent, but nobody I know has had any trouble with it. Decent amount of homework and theres an online quiz every week, but it is all manageable if you don't procrastinate. She is very helpful during office hours
Dr. Kozubenko really tries to ensure her students succeed in this class. Every class period she encourages her students to go into her office hours or go to the free tutoring at Gonzaga if they need help. The tests are almost the exact same as the exam review packets; study those and you're golden! She's my the best math teacher I've ever had
The worst teacher I've ever had. She doesn't explain the information well and then tells us to go to math lab every class. When people ask a question she fails to answer it fully almost 100% of the time. She is a last resort professor. Seriously, save yourself and take another class. I have 5 other classes, it's her job to teach me not math lab.
If you do the homework and show up to class, this is an easy A. Expectations are very clear and exams are doable with minimal prep.
Olga is a good teacher who really cares about her students. There is a lot of homework but if you do it and don't take shortcuts, it will really help you on the exams. She can be a little hard to follow at times and the concepts are basically calculus but you will learn a lot. Also, the lowest grade out of all four tests + final is dropped.
I personally really enjoyed Olgas course. Her expectations were clear, and although I struggled with the timeframe exams were expected to be done in, I dont feel that anything was done unfairly. Also, Olga offered many ways to receive extra help out of class, including her office hours or scheduling a private appointment with her.
I was extremely scared to take this class and did not think I would do well, but I found this class to be perfectly laid out to make it easily understood. Pr. Kozubenko is extremely kind and understanding. Very fair with grading and wants to see each student succeed.
It was a very well organized course. This class made me smarter and was my first class at GU because I'm a freshman. I hated math before I came here but now I like it and I would take this class again if I had too. Olga, was very flexible with grades and cared about our wellbeing.
Good professor. She is strict when it comes to deadlines. If you talk to her she will understand. Go to her office hours because she helps you. The material itself is hard so most times you will be teaching yourself or off her study guides.
Olga is a good math professor. She is a very lecture heavy professor and is sometimes hard to understand but she is manageable. I had to teach myself a lot of the information but she does provide a worksheet packet that helps. I would take her again. She is also sometimes humorous.
It REALLY sucks to miss this class because you pretty much fall behind and she doesn't record lectures, but class is very structured and easy to do once you get into the swing. She's a good teacher and teaches the material in a way that makes sense but is not understanding when it comes to making up work or missing class. Generally not bad at all.
Olga gets a bad rap sometimes for being difficult or mean but she really is not. She does teach hard material but it would be difficult with any professor. She is a fair grader, and will curve a test an entire letter grade if everyone in the class did poorly. Like half way through the semester she stopped taking attendance.
A lot of homework, but it helps you prepare for tests. She rushed through the material even though we had time left at the end of the semester. I never took calc so I really had to put work into this class. Do your homework and do well on WebWorK quizzes and it will really help your grade. If you have an A after test 4 you don't take the final.
Olga's class makes you feel like college math teachers are worse than high school teachers. She is terribly hard to understand due to her thick accent. Her test review guides would often have mistakes that leave you confused leading up to the test date. She gives lots of homework that is non optional unlike other reachers. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS
Didn't explain the material well. Also, tests are 75% of your grade so good luck if you fail any. The homework and quizzes won't save you!
Even if you try really hard that doesn't matter if you fail an exam!!!
She literally doesn't teach anything. She teaches the basic easy math in class that we all know how to do and assigns homework about some topics that she never even mentioned or discussed in class. I have actually lost brain cells listening to her lectures because of her thick accent and her love for using 500 steps for a 2-step problem.
Literally doesn't teach, tests are 75% of the grade.
Studies my ass off, still failed. Math lab taught me better
Not so fluent in english, students may have a hard time understanding
Awful experience
This teacher is really nothing to complain about, she isn't amazing, but she isn't bad. You don't have to go to class, but you might as well because you'll forget some stuff since highschool. If you're confused, she is really nice to go to during office hours. She actually really helps a lot more during office hours than the actual class.
Olga's teaching style was easy to follow. She has all the notes uploaded incase you miss class. There are lots of hw problems but it made exams feel like a breeze. She does seem hard to approach but is willing to help. Classes before exams were always canceled which was nice. She does have an accent making it hard to understand her at times.
Idk why people hate Olga. Yes, she has an accent and is stern, but she was awesome! Her lectures were clear and all of the hw and practice problems prepare you well for tests. 10 quizzes, 4 exams, and 1 final, but high test averages don't have to take the final ;) Stats can be tricky but just do the work, go to office hours and it will be a breeze!
I think that many people underrate Olga. She really is not that bad if you show up to class and do the work. Her lectures are clear and easy to understand, and her notes are very easy to follow. If you go to the lectures and do your homework you will pass this class. I have also heard she doesn't make kids with high test scores take the final.
Olga is not a bad teacher but not the best either. Her lectures are hard to understand a good portion of the time and she moves very fast. Studying is very important for the tests and doing the homework as well. She has a strong accent that can be hard to understand at times, but you get used to it. Overall, just did not have a great time.
She is just there to lecture her slides. She is not caring or sympathetic to her student's situations or struggles. If you want a math teacher to connect with on a personal level, take a different class.
RUN!!!! She is not caring for her students at all!!! You have to do group quizzes which are helpful,I wish I could say she is a good professor, but she literally just writes down the notes on the whiteboard and doesn't freaking explain them. I cannot express how much I hate this class. RUN.
single-handedly the worst professor I have ever had. the entire class is confused and failing. only reason I am not failing is because I have engineering friends who are willing to teach me all the calculus. DO NOT TAKE.
She's really really cute, but other than that DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Your first red flag should be that her name is OLGA she is also straight outta Russia and still learning the English language so that adds to the difficulty of trying to learn ANYTHING from her. Also the tests are hard as a mr... lowkey just transfer schools frfr
Not the easiest course. Homework's optional, you do however get 12% extra credit by the end of the year on your grade if you do them all (theres so many problems that I found it wasnt worth my time). Tests are quite hard - only if you dont study. Seek help outside of class, go to math lab, and you'll get an A. Shes pretty funny -ends class early!
Accent is a little hard to understand. She clearly explains things and there are no surprises on the tests. Not a very hard class when you listen and do the homework. She is available for office hours often and she's pretty funny when you get to know her.
She's really not that bad of a teacher, I think ppl are a bit dramatic. The concepts get more a lot more challenging later in the semester so get into a good study group/ ask her for help when you need it. Homework technically isn't mandatory, but you can get extra credit for doing it.
Don't take her at all. Worst teacher I've ever had. half of the class has already taken this level of calculus and will pass, and that's all that matters to her. If you have not already at least been introduced to the topics of the class, you can expect it to be difficult, poorly explained and rushed. She's tenured and she definitely acts like it.
I genuinely believe that Olga is one of the worst professors I have ever had. Asking for help is pointless because she doesn't care for her students, know anyone's name, or care if you pass or fail. This may be harsh but she needs to be fired. After learning what Gonzaga is all about, having a teacher like Olga is simply just disappointing.
If you're good at math, take her. Straight, simple, to the point. Homework optional, once a week quizzes and 4 exams plus a final. If you aren't strong in math- RUN, find a more accommodating professor who explains things in depth and facilitates class. Study guides are SUPER helpful for exams with detailed keys and every lesson has a video online.
She went through her lectures very fast and isn't the best at answering questions. Be sure you pick a strong group for the group quizzes since you'll likely be stuck with them for the sem. She grades the quizzes more on neatness than correctness so don't stress on them too much. Also she is very kind and helpful in office hours.
If you have the chance, don't take Olga. Her lectures are hard to understand because of her accent and talking fast. Instead of teaching something, she just does a ton of examples. Choose a good group for the quizzes. She is surprisingly helpful in office hours though. Lecture notes and practice tests are very helpful.
Based on 4 exams, 11 group quizzes, and the final exam. Homework isn't required but if you aren't already familiar with the material you should do it. Doesn't seem to care much about her students and is very unapproachable so I spent lots of time in math lab. If you haven't taken calc before, take this class with friends who can help you out.
If you havent taken calc before do not take her, if you have its pretty easy
DO NOT TAKE IF YOU NEVER TOOK CALC. Students struggled immensely in this class. I had to go to tutoring everyday for homework/ studying to get my grade. If you are assigned her in your first set freshman year, LEAVE!
Olga was accessible outside of class however she is a VERY harsh grader. You will have homework out of the textbook, online quizzes, and in-class exams. If you begin to struggle go see her during office hours because she is there to help and is pretty kind and understanding about your personal life.
If you are a freshman and have never taken any form of calc before, I recommend taking Math 100 first. This class is hard but Olga gives you great notes, quizzes, and review packets that will really help on your tests. If you go into office hours or raise your hand in class, she'll love you. She gets too much hate and is nice and funny!
The class is super test heavy- the math tutoring center will become your best friend. It's definitely possible to do well on exams but you need to spend a lot of time studying. Olga is NOT a bad person, she just moves through concepts really quickly and it can be difficult to keep up with her sometimes. She does have office hours so use them!
Your grade heavily relies on exams, but there are a lot of take home quizzes that can help that you can work on with groups. I spent a lot of time in the tutoring center.
her as a person is borderline okay/average, found at times she was a bit rude toward her students, but its the concept itself that was a bit challenging, had to go to the tutoring center almost every week bc of this class. if u don't get the concept itself u will most likely not pass, as she goes thru concepts quickly...
my tutor is the reason why i passed this class, not olga.
Olga is sassy, but I think that's what makes her funny. She doesn't take attendance but moves through units like lightning, like literally 4 chapters every 50-minute class session. She doesn't EVER lecture. Only gives you the assignments and quizzes and expects you to do them yourself/as a class. Overall, I would skip this class as a freshman.
Do not take Olga if you struggle with math. Her accent makes her extremely hard to understand. Her class is just her solving problems on the board not explaining them. She explains the material at a surface level. Exams are very difficult and unlike the study guides. She provides optional homework. Quizzes are done at home. I didn't learn anything.
DO NOT TAKE OLGA. Get ready to teach yourself because she doesn't teach, and will call you stupid in front of the entire class. The quizzes were take-home, so you could cheat all you wanted, and she doesn't even know your name. The only way to get feedback on your progress were the tests, and you don't even get feedback on those. DO NOT TAKE.
If you are looking for an easy Math Class then take Math 104.Your grade is based on 3 exam, final exam, and group quizzes. Got A. Love Olga.
Olga is great at explaining things if you need help. Curves grades up often and is willing to do what she can to help you out. Definitely a good option.
Professor Kozubenko is amazing! She is so organized and very passionate about Mathematics. She explains things in a very clear manner and she is super approachable if you do not understand something. You can tell she genuinely cares about her students. Just stay on top of the homework and pay attention in class and you will do great!
I have a great deal of respect for prof. Kozubenko. She is very understanding, and she treats you like an adult. She is always willing to take questions and alter her lessons if students need it. Math 104 is an easy class that satisfies the math core requirements. I would recommend it.
Olga can be a tough professor, but her well-structured lectures and practice materials make this manageable. Attend office hours and use Unstuck ai to ace the exams. It's a challenging course, but with effort, you can succeed.
The class and the material is easy. She is an okay teacher. She has quizzes due once a week which you can collaborate on and seek outside sources. Attendance is not mandatory. The only downside of the class is that some of the tests can be hard. Overall, not a bad class.
Olga was a fine teacher. However, I did not enjoy her teaching style. She has a very thick accent, making it hard to understand what she is saying. On more than one occasion, she approached my desk while I was working, pointed at my work, said "Stupid" laughed, and walked away. Math has always been my strongest subject, but not with her.
Prof. Kozubenko was good at studying material specific to the test. She also made good study guides that prepare you for the test. She was good at giving in class study time and wanting people to ask questions. I liked how if a student or myself had a question to a math problem we would go over that problem step by step.
One of the best instructors to learn from. She always took the time to explain concepts to me and other students. I was very pleased with the smile she always taught with. I loved how she gave us lecture recordings of her solving problems those were very informative and I loved watching them to review concepts.
She gets way too much hate. People just haven't had teachers where english isn't their first language. Olga is a very sweet women who wants her students to do well, she cracks jokes and can be funny when she wants to be. People have issues with her bc she doesn't teach some of the easier concepts, so she comes across worse than she actually is.
People give her bad reviews, but if you show up to class and pay attention and try to learn, she really is a good teacher.
Olga has a bad reputation but honestly she's really not that bad. If she is actually demonstrating the problems on the board and you pay attention you'll be fine. (In other semesters tho she would just give problems and not demonstrate so that's hard but she was wayyyy better when I took her class than what I heard she would be like.)
good at explaining the subjects but she has a pretty thick accent which was hard at times. There is no mandatory book or homework (both highly suggested by her and me). Subject is hard but she is best teacher. For grading, i ended with a 74.75 (0.25 away from a b) and she bumped me up. Attendance is def not required but she grades nicer if you go.
she cancelled class and office hours all the time- and also didn't lecture. Class was easy and easy to cheat though
Class is pretty easy, however if you don't understand something you pretty much have to teach yourself/do outside research. She teaches as if you know the material already. Her accent in the beginning was a little hard to follow, but as the semester has gone on it's easy to understand her. Quizzes are all online, tests are in person.
Olga is one of the worst teachers I've had. She is terrible at explaining things, she will solve the problem while mumbling the steps to herself without diving deeper. One time, the whole class got a bad grade on a test, and she told us Gonzaga has been more chill on who they accept into the school, and we don't belong here like other students.
She is an ok professor, but she goes very fast on the board. In the class you basically have to teach yourself and if you do the review before each exam and practice similar problems on the review packet then you will do well on the exams.
She's a kind prof and genuinely cares about you and your progress. But, you really do have to teach yourself the material because she simply does not teach it in a comprehensible way. Often if you ask questions she may act as if you should know already, which can be hard to work with. She will give you answers to take home quizzes in office hours!
olga isn't a terrible professor, but i wouldn't take her if you struggle with math. she does problems on the board very quickly and barely explains what she's doing. she teaches as if you already know the material. i really just had to teach myself everything. however, she is understanding of students circumstances and is a pretty nice person.
The exams are very similar to the reviews, she goes fast when teaching sometimes, and she drops your lowest grade at the semester with the final grade you get. Overall pretty good class despite her teaching style.
