I loved Dr. Frauenfeld. He was by far my favorite professor this semester. His tests are word for word his lectures. Anything and everything he says could be tested, but nothing else, aka there are no curveballs on the tests. Theres no final, only three tests, but they're easy if you study some. Bad thing is he gives pop quizzes, but they're easy.
He's awesome. Not too bad on the eyes.
Really great professor! He is willing to help you out anytime after class or in his office. The subject gets a little boring at times, but he tries to liven things up. I received a B with very little effort, so getting an A is certainly possible with some effort. Overall, I would definitely recommend him to anyone needing a science credit!
Dr. Frauenfeld is the best professor at A&M!
LOVE HIM!!
Dr. Frauenfeld is a very easy to approach professor who is also passionate about what he teaches. I struggled with some of his tests but overall if you put forth the effort, it isn't too difficult because he's very understanding and reasonable. He also has a huge curve at the end of the year which really saved my grade.
Seriously the best professor ever!!!
Great professor overall. Explains things clearly and will clarify again if needed. He does give pop quizzes randomly, but these are easy if you take notes and pay some attention. Tests questions are like the quizzes. Just study your notes and you'll at least have a B.
There are three tests and weekly pop quizzes. As long as you show up for class and take good notes, you'll be fine. I'm not a science person, but Dr. Frauenfeld is funny and made the class really interesting (as much as that's possible). Would definitely recommend for anyone who needs a science class.
Dr Frauenfeld is a pretty good professor. Three tests and pop quizzes normally once a week. Not really a lot of outside of class work which is nice. He posts slides online but theyre only the pictures from his lectures. To get the words, you must go to class. I found the book helpful as well but it isn't required. Not hard to make an A if you study
He likes to randomly give pop quizzes, which is annoying because you have to actually go to class and sit through the super long and boring lectures. He posts powerpoints to ecampus, but they're only pictures so they're completely useless. Tests were kind of difficult and I'm not sure where some of the material came from.
His class is an easy A as long as you come and put forth a little effort. I read the textbook and probably didn't need to. His tests are straight from the notes. Have to come to class because he doesn't post said notes and he gives easy attendance pop quizzes. Easy science credited. Subject material is like earth science you take in Elementary.
I liked this professor, but not the class. I felt like I grasped most of the material, yet still did awful on the tests. He only tests over his lectures, so the book is not required, however not sure where some of the information came from. I went to every lecture, took great notes and studied a lot and still bombed the tests.
Tests are straight from lectures only. Pop quizes that are worth 10 points each, missing these can be detrimental to your grade. Tests aren't that bad but you definitely need to study.
He's awesome. Just don't take this class if you have heavy course load because it takes sometime to properly read through the material and understand all the concepts. Other than that, he tries to make the class interesting by throwing in a few jokes here and there.
He gives pop quizzes but they're pretty easy. They also are indicative of the type and degree of difficulty of the exam questions so that's actually helpful. He drops your lowest quiz grade too. Dr. Frauenfeld does a good job making the material more interesting than it could otherwise be. He's pretty nice and funny. The tests aren't that hard.
Decent prof but this class is pretty boring. He attempts to make it interesting but its very difficult to get into. Attendance quizzes at random mean you have to attend the lectures, but they are 50% sign your name 50% knowledge. Tests use conceptual questions so you have to know the coursework/concepts. Not an easy course, but manageable overall.
Loved this class. Lectures seemed long but that's just because he lectures for all of it. Really enjoyed it though and he wanted to make sure everyone understood.
Frauenfeld is extremely intelligent and is not a boring professor. Tests are so hard. There's a pop quiz at least once a week and he grades fairly on them. Show up to class and take very detailed notes. The tests increase in difficulty as the semester goes on.
Basically tests are your only grades in the class so it's important to pay attention in lectures and study hard for them. He gives pop quizzes around once a week to help boost grade for attendance. Really nice guy and willing to help if needed.
This class contains 3 exams and pop quizzes. The pop quizzes are given to help you and your grade! You don't need the textbooks, basically everything you need are the notes he gives in class, he post his powerpoint on ecampus but it is just the images not the notes, to get the actual notes you need to attend class. Overall, I recommend him
Dr. Frauenfeld is awesome, the material is pretty dry but he's a goofy guy so he makes the class a lot more interesting. There's three exams and about 10 pop quizzes. No textbook, but if you don't go to class, you don't get the material. He's a great professor, funny guy, and cares about his students. Definitely would take him again!
If you go to class, take good notes, and review them a couple days before the test you should be fine. Lecture is sometimes slow but could be worse. He gave quizzes in class with questions very similar to test questions to help (not worth much) that also had extra credit on them. Cares about students, recommend meeting him in office hours.
Fraunfeld literally made my entire semester. I left my major last year and this was my first class that wasn't related to my old major. I fell in love with his lectures and actually looked forward to going to class every day. His tests are very fair. He does have pop quizzes that are a surprise, but they're easy. Those questions end up on the exam.
Not a super interesting class, but Dr. Frauenfeld makes it way more enjoyable. He doesn't take attendance, but he only posts the pictures from his slides, so you have to go to class to get info for test. He also gives about 10 pop quizzes that aren't hard (you get 5 out of 10 points for writing your name) so go to class. Overall not bad at all
This class was fair not to easy and not too hard. Got to go to class because test are mostly based on lecture notes and he gives random quizzes but they are easy and help bump up your grade.
There is no Textbook so pay attention to lectures! He is without a doubt the best professor I have ever had. If you need help, have questions, or just want to talk he is a very approachable and knowledgeable person. Be aware of pop quizzes once a week, half the credit is just showing up.
Only 3 tests the entire semester so if you do bad on one, you're in trouble. Tests are pretty hard and cover a lot of material so study hard. Lectures are extremely boring if geography isn't your major, but if you take good notes you'll be fine. Go to class because pop quizzes are random and help. He curved grades quite a bit after the last test.
You have to attend class because the tests are only on the lectures (there's a book but you don't need it). Take good notes and you're fine, but it's not an easy class if you're not a science major. There are only 3 tests but you have to keep up with the material because of the quizzes. I'm no a science person but I thought the class was awesome.
Dr. Frauenfeld is a great prof! His lectures are powerpoint based and reminded me a lot of high school note taking just by writing down what was on the slides. He does attendance quizzes every other class. There are 3 exams and no final, and the quizzes make up the other 10% of your grade. He makes occasional jokes and his exams are pretty fair.
You need to show up to class in order to get his powerpoint notes bc he doesn't post them online. He also does a quiz every week but you dont know what day it is on but there is always extra credit on the quizzes! Go to the SI sessions before exams!! They are super helpful!! The prof is really funny and sometimes incorporates memes into his slides
I wouldn't recommend taking this class if you're not a geography or science major. Oliver is funny and his class was interesting sometimes, but the majority of the lectures were incredibly boring. Going to the SI sessions were helpful, especially the exam review ones. His exams seem like they're going to be easy, but they never are!!!
He's a cool guy and the class is reasonable. I hate science but I found the class interesting at times. There are pop quizzes, but 5 points are given automatically just because you attend lecture. He curved the test grades AND your final overall grade. Nice guy. Take him!
Frauenfeld is super cool and you can tell he really cares about his students. No textbook is required since tests are only based on notes. With that being said, attendance helps, as well as there being a pop quiz every week. As long as you attend class, and take notes, you'll be golden.
Prof. Frauenfeld is a very nice professor and is really knowledgeable about his subject. 3 tests and pop quizzes every week. I could've done much better in this class but I personally found the subject uninteresting so I kinda didn't pay attention. Go to every class and SI session too from the very beginning! Extremely helpful.
He curves tests ALOT. Lectures can get boring. He has a sense of humor. Overall easy life and science credit!
Doesn't post lectures online, but gives you plenty of time to copy notes from his ppts in class. Pop quizzes about once a week, half points for just being there & he drops lowest quiz grade. Will answer any questions or reiterate something after lecture or during office hours. His tests come directly from his powerpoints, just study notes
One of the nicest professors I have ever met. He tries to make lectures very engaging and throws in a little humor here in there. There are three exams (non-cumulative), they're fairly easy if you pay attention and take detailed notes. Beware of skipping any classes, as he gives a pop quiz randomly once a week. I recommend taking him!
Really nice guy, he might seem intense at first, but he loves putting cute little videos in at the end of his lectures. Pop Quizzes at the VERY end of class once a week but half the credit is just for taking it. posts lecture slides but doesn't have the information on them, so attendance is highly recommended
Show up to class as he loves pop quizzes. I had him Tu/Thur and every other week we were getting a pop quiz. The lecture hall was packed so he didn't really do much but lecture off of the monitor. TAKE NOTES as they were the only thing I used, textbook wasn't needed. Use the SI sessions to your advantage and you should be fine.
Definitely one of the most kindhearted professors Ive had. Lots of pop quizzes and doesnt post his slides online and Your class notes are the only tool for studying for the tests. Im not majoring in geog and I had to spend a lot more time on this elective than expected so that was frustrating.
I'm not a science major but I liked this class. It's really well organized and you know what to study. The pop quizzes are a little annoying but it keeps you studying. He was really helpful after we had to switch online and the online lectures were funny. Super nice, would definitely take another class from Professor Fraunefeld.
AMAZING prof!! This class is an easy A as long as you go to lectures and take good notes. There are 3 exams, each 30%, and all the information comes from his powerpoints (which aren't posted- so definitely go to class.) No final. The content we talked about was sometimes boring, but he's a fun prof so he made it okay. Pop quizzes once a week!
He was a super nice prof and made the class enjoyable. I'm not a GEOG major but I went to class every day and studied a good amount and made a 100 in the class. He gives curves if the class doesn't do great. When we went online his quizzes and lecture videos were pretty good quality. Good choice for life science credit.
Really, really nice guy and easy to talk to. Class is very content heavy, so even though attendance is not optional, be sure to go. Notes during class is all you need to study for his quizzes. No tests.
Professor Frauenfeld is literally the nicest human. He genuinely wants you to do well in his class and with a little work on the tougher units, you can. His lectures are similar to what he quizzes you on and this year he posed the slides before class which was very helpful. I would absolutely take him again, really great class to take for credit
Overall, the class is fairly interesting and wasn't difficult. The only grades were the 7 quizzes we had every other week. Since I did bad on two quizzes, my grade wasn't what I wanted but that wasn't on him. He is very kind and I enjoyed his lectures.
Such a good professor! Very kind and seemed like he genuinely cared for us students and wanted us to do well. He would curve quizzes if the average was below an 80- the quizzes are the only grades, and the lowest was dropped (so no midterm or final which I liked). His lectures could be a bit monotone at times, but he tried his best. Take him!
He's the nicest professor ever, so easy to talk to outside of class, and he's always willing to help or just chat about anything. The class is only based on 7 quizzes, which are just based on what he says in the lectures. He even ended up dropping our lowest quiz grade and would make changes to the quiz format based on our feedback to him.
Dr. Frauenfeld is one of the best at TAMU. He is caring, flexible, and understands that students have lives. He is one of the reasons I chose to minor in geography. while the content can be boring at times, he makes it interesting and doesnt ever try to trick you. tests are straightforward but ensure you know the content and its reciprocal.
Boring, quizzes every week or so, lecture heavy, no homework, exams count as like 75% of your grade, but quick to grade. Show up to class so you don't miss the quizzes, that's what gets a lot of people, occasionally he'll do a quiz at the beginning of the class to catch people off guard.
10/10 Favorite professor at college so far. Class is a bit boring as it is an intro class but he is so caring and answers all questions to the best of his ability. Will be taking him if at all possible in the future. 90% tests and 10% random pop quizzes on random days so beware of that if you want an A. No textbook just slides.
This class was honestly very difficult, and a bit boring as it is an intro class. He is very passionate about geography and a really great professor. Attendance is not mandatory unless you want to pass... He doesn't post slides. Overall not bad I'm just not interested in science.
this class sucked but only because i didn't go to class. if u take notes during his lectures you should be fine. he doesn't post his notes and has quizzes every third class.
Dr. Frauenfeld is very knowledgable, nice, and he cares a lot about what he teaches. If you're good with memorization, definitely take the class. Content can be dry at times but it's not terribly complicated and easy to understand. Quizzes every 3rd class and 3 exams each worth 28% of the grade. Offered extra credit for showing up at one point
Class could be boring at times but he did his best to make it entertaining. Test heavy class, however, he curved the averages on the tests up to an 80, gave extra credit one time for showing up, and added additional points after the final test. Super informative lectures.
You can tell he's really passionate about this course, which is good because most of the times the content is very boring. He offers a lot of extra credit and curves lots of grades. If you don't go to class/take really good notes you're dead. Took it for a seemingly easy science credit and ended up being most stressful class. Most people did bad
Somewhat boring lectures. However, everything is laid out nicely and test/quiz questions are taken directly from the notes. Make sure to show up to and put effort into this class and you will be fine!
Dr. Frauenfeld is very clear with his lectures but can sometimes be difficult to hear. Pay attention to the slides and review notes before each class to prepare for the quizzes. Grades are based solely on quizzes and tests, but he consistently gave out curves and multiple extra credit opportunities.
The tests are hard, but he gives tons of bonus and extra credit. Just study a little bit, and you will get an A.
lectures lowkey boring. content easy. only quizzes and tests make up grades. very doable. personally easy class.
He's not the strongest speaker, but he clearly explains the material. There is no homework in his class. Go to the lectures and write down everything the man says. Come test time, summarize the notes you have, and study that. You will have success. Tests are all multiple choice.
Definitely recommend this course BECUASE of Prof Frauenfeld. He loves what he teaches, is good at it, and is very organized. Quizzes are every 3rd class, 3 tests total. You can only get content from taking notes in class so attendance is important. Do study because there is a lot of content, if you need it he is very willing to help.
Oliver was a super nice guy and easy to work with however the class material itself was difficult. If you do not have to take this level of geography I would not take this course even though he is a great guy. There are like 7 quizzes and 3 tests and that is all you get graded on for the whole semester but if you have to take it take it with him!
Not a lot goes into the grade book but he provides everything necessary in the slides to be successful on quizzes and exams. We had 6 quizzes every 3 classes and 3 exams. He gives lots of opportunity for extra points throughout the semester. I went to him multiple times for clarification on things and he really does care about students success.
Great guy & amazing lectures! Material is easy to understand overall, just be diligent in reviewing it when quiz & exam time comes around. Only about 6 quizzes & 3 exams to take during the whole year, however he'll tell you what is on it and information to remember. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but he has a lot of Extra Credit after quizzes, so go!
Although it's labelled as a GEOG course, it's 85% about the atmosphere, but still easy enough to learn if you pay attention in class. Quizzes every couple of class days, most with extra credit if you stay after. 3 exams, non-cumulative, no final, no homework. Will curve the exams to increase the average, and only graded on quiz/test. Go to class!!
grade is based off quizzes and exams, but he offers a ton of extra credit, so make sure you go to class even though attendance isn't mandatory. He's a really nice guy and genuinely wants the students to do well. however, the class does require you to actually study and put in time, it's not just a blow off course.
6 quizzes and 3 exams; no homework or final. Tests were easy IF you studied. He gives A LOT of curves. Most exams were curved by 10 points. For extra credit, if you stayed behind after quizzes, he would give you 30 points on your quiz. You do have to study a good amount, but his posted slides on canvas had everything you needed.
Prof Frauenfeld is so kind!! He loves what he is teaching, and his class is a nice grade booster. He gives tons of extra credit (stay till the end of class, he usually does bonus point activities then!), and his tests are not difficult if you go to class. He curved s24' by almost a letter grade at the end. Take him for your science credit!!
He's a very good professor. His class consisted of 6 quizzes and he drops the lowest quiz grade. He gives 10 points extra credit on like half. His exams were multiple choice and not too challenging, some quiz questions repeat on the exam. He curves so that the average is 80. Literally just take good notes, study with Quizlet, and you'll be good!
I love this professor! I took this class for a science credit and it was pretty easy. There is like one quiz every two weeks ish and four exams. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you don't go you might struggle on the quizzes and exams. He also gives extra credit for students who stay for the whole lecture. Take him!
Very easy class and try when tests come around. Very nice and wants people to show up and care about his lectures. Overall great professor and very clear on what is wanted and needed.
Professor Fauenfeld is one of the best science professors at TAMU. The class is extremely easy if you do it with just a little effort. I enjoyed this class; it was an easy A for a science credit.
Exams are worth 78% of your grade
Fantastic Professor! Super sweet and funny. Provides extra credit on quizzes if you stay till the end of class.
Professor Frauenfeld was great! This was a great science class, don't take it too lightly but it is not that bad lowk. Attendance is not mandatory, though his lectures are super informative and very helpful, with 6 scheduled quizzes (not pop, one drops, and if you stay till end of class +25-33% on them) he also curves exam avg to 80-also funny guy.
He is a good presenter, but I think there is only so much that can be entertaining in Geography, but this class (GEOG 203) was not as much geography, it was geology more. He is competent, but the course is very lecture heavy, and the posted slides don t always have all the information from the lecture slides
Amazing lecturer, but will talk for the whole time he is given.
Professor Frauenfeld is great! You can tell he deeply cares about the subject he teaches. Lectures can be a bit slow paced at times, but as long as you give at least half of your attention, you will do just fine. Tests are very straightforward and he gives very generous curves. He also gives extra credit if you stay to the end of class after a quiz
Oliver Frauenfeld is an amazing professor. The entire class consists of 6 quizzes (12 questions each + 3 questions worth of extra credit for staying through the lecture) and 3 tests (curves the average up to an 80). Never went to any lectures and ended with a 101 in the class. Take this class with this professor for a ridiculously easy life science
He is a very nice professor who wants everyone to learn, but this class was really hard. There was no homework so it was hard to retain anything. Your grade is just quizzes and three tests.
Not an easy A. This class made me feel really dumb. I tried so hard and got C's on everything.
This was not an EASY A - but a doable A if you do the work and study. He's a great professor but you have to keep up and you have to study for test. I made an A, attended all classes and I did like his class.
