This teacher is quality--knows his subject, has worked in the field, and it is apparent, it is his passion. Resourceful inside and outside of class. True, he asks a lot of work (feels like a mini-law school class!), but I've never learned so much!

Great teacher with a great sense of humor and very down to earth.

Great man. HE's upfrount and knows his stuff, it is required to do alot of writing case studies and alot of essays. The assignments and Final is a little unclear but "Ask Questions" he is willing to help you out. Very nice professor but not an easy A course.

very down to earth, ex-chief of police. not just a cops views,but does make u realise you need to think for yourself and realise what is going on arround you. lectures take book material and play it into current day events up to that morning! law from a pd view to da view all the way to sup court. looks at local applications as well.funny as hell!

LOVED this professor! he knows everything, he is open to any questions to may have. he makes you think, doesnt give his own opinions most of the time. he is very experienced and knows his business. he is one of the most intelligent men ive ever met and looked forward to his class each day. this it he kind of professor you never forget.

HE IS AN EXCELLENT TEACHER. HE IS GREAT WITH THE STUDENTS AND VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT TEACHING. HE IS SIXTY SOMETHING SO I DON'T KNOW IF I WOULD SAY HE WAS HOT

Very interesting. Does gives a lot of work but not to hard. As long as you listen and try to do the work you are guaranteed to pass the class. Believe me I have taken almost all of his classes and passed them all.

Dr Thompson is a really nice man who knows his stuff, he has a catalog of any and everything that you could ever want to know about criminal law. he is really helpful and doesnt mind if you ask him personal questions during class time. in my eyes he is one of the best teachers that i have had in a long time.

Awesome professor. Had my doubts coming into the beginning of the semester, but he's made it a lot of fun. Uses real world examples, very interesting lectures. Will help if you need help, always willing to work with his students. Funny, makes class fly by. Makes you think for yourself. Fair amount of homework, but all of it is easy.

Dr. Thompson, is by far the most interesting teacher I have taken for Administrative Justice. He is smart and knows what he is talking about. He makes you want to listen and learn information, you wouldn't even know about. You need to hear what he has to say, because he makes a lot of sense.

My all-time favorite professor! He is very personable and easy to get along with. He is very flexible and understands that we all have lives outside of campus. I have taken all of hs ADJ classes and am sad that this one is my last one with him. I really admire Dr. T and am hopeful that he will be there to help me through the years!

This teacher is AWESOME!! He makes the course interesting. If you dont understand something he will take the time to explain. He also gives several chances to complete work. Very cool cat :-) I wish I could hire him to teach me at home personally...he's that knowledgable.WARNING....lots of work but interesting and enough time to complete.

Dr. Thompson is a really good professor. I take all of my adj classes with him. He does give alot of work but thats how you learn what he is teaching considering most of his classes are online or hybrid. The work is really interesting, and he will always help you if you need it. i would consider him one of the best Professors at RCC!!

Best Professor-None better. I learned more in 1 hr w/ him than an entire course w/ others. Everything is current, applicable, intelligent, & concise. I would not take anyone else for ADJ 1-5. The essays are completely laid out in hybrid format & syllabus. Do the work. Act like an adult. You'll leave class Intelligent & capable.

He is such a great teacher! He has made me realize that I truely want to go into Criminal Justice! He is really interesting and he understands that not everyone in the class will know everything right away.

I took four of five AJD classes with Mr. Thompson. I enjoyed his classes. He expects you to read the material and do the work. After all, we are in college!!

I dropped the class because i couldn't keep up with the work, you have to be right on point with the essays.. I got an A on one and a D on another. When he says use the book he MEANS use the book. This is a class where the book is an actual requirement because he uses it daily.

the hardest adj class ive taken but i learned the most from it. Just do the assignments and take advantage of a lot of extra credit. the tests were very difficult but if you do the assignments and extra credit it's an easy pass

Dr. T is a great prof. He his clear, loud, and to the point. Apply this to the papers and you will get A's. His test's are very hard but do not weigh down your grade. Expects you to read the book all the time, i read "some" and still did well. Focus on the papers! Get A's on all of them and you will Ace the class.

Mr Thompson is the best teacher I have had at RCC. He is very informative and explains in great detail. Essays due weekly, as long as you include everything he ask youll do fine. I have taken 2 of his classes and have got an A in both. He is the BEST!

Awesome teacher!!! Ex- chief of police so he knows what hes talking about.Likes to hear peoples point of views.There was a paper due every sun. but if you just put all the info he asks for you will get A's on the paper.He may seem intimidating at first but hes really friendly and will help you if you ask.Lets you do make up work too.Best teacher!!

He is an amazing teacher, if you are going into law this is the teacher you should take, he knows his stuff and always explains everything very well, my favorite teacher ever

Professor Thompson is the best professor I have had at RCC. At first, he is very intimidating but, in reality he is extremely helpful. Class may seem overwhelming, just focus on the assignments. He tells you exactly what he is looking for in each one. After these classes, I have a much deeper understanding of the US Constitution. Took him for 1-5.

Dr. T is THE BEST. If you're willing to do the work, & there's plenty of it, you will truly be proud of your accomplishments. He doesn't beat around the bush when teaching. Doesn't tell "war stories" unless they apply to the lesson. I've taken his classes in 1 - 4; I take 5 with him this semester. I will miss him as my teacher. He's great !

Dr. Thompson was possibly the best professor I had while attending RCC. He is approachable and available. He doesn't grade that hard, and his assignments are extremely fun to do if you have an interest in law. I highly recommend him for any ADJ classes.

very cool guy! He has great expectations, expects u 2 try and work hard. used to be a cop so he is very real. very smart & really makes u think. i took his class in Winter & we had 2 essays a week. make sure u include everything he wants u 2 talk about to get a good grade. only take him if u want 2 earn ur grade. not an easy A, but I got an A.

Took him last fall and then again in the winter I thought he was great did not go to class at all during the fall but as long as you do your work he really does not mind very easy winter class. intimidating at first glance but really very nice I hear people talk about him being hard but hes one of the easiest and best teachers Ive had

Not an easy A but this class is extremely insightful, he is one the of the best professors ive taken. Skeptical at first based on what I heard about his class, but in the end I was glad I took him. Assignments are once a week but will take u all day to complete. I took 2 of his classes in the same semester but did good. Very knowledgeable and clear

Dr. Thompson is the best teacher I've had at RCC. I've taken every one of his classes. Lots of work but he goes over the outlines and tells you what he expects. He's very understanding and lets you turn in late work. Very knowledgeable, successful, and knows what he's talking about. I look at him as a mentor more than a teacher. Take him!

He was my first professor in college. I took him during Fall 2012. He is really cool and funny. A LOT of writting, but he usually give a week for each assisgnment. Plus you can ask for an extension too. The trick for this class is you have to read everything he hold you to.

Very confusing about what he wanted on our papers. He is very kind and helpful if you have questions, but not always clarifying... Need to attend for lectures. No midterm or final.

GREAT PROFESSOR. Extremely clear &tells you exactly what he wants, so I don't understand why people say he isn't. Took both classes at same time(Hybrid)and got an A in both. You just need to do all the assignment and answer everything asked and you will get a good grade. He only fails you if you don't do the work and he gives alot of extra credit.

Great professor! I got to say he was a hard teacher, but eventually after understanding his expectations from the class, it got easier. Confuse or have any question? Talk to him! He may make you feel intimidated, but after you learn about his career you'll understand. And you'll learn that he is very helpful and an incredible professor.

If you are interested in a career somewhere in law enforcement, the things this an has to teach I can imagine would be of use one day. Great teacher. I took him in a Winter class and it was accelerated so I would imagine the amount of work was high but just read and do the work it's as simple as that. Answers all questions and is funny too.

He's the type of teacher who would give you tough assignments and make you work for your grade but will always help you in reviewing before giving you a final grade

Dr. Thompson is no joke. You have to be serious with your assignments. Essays are due every week and he has a lot of extra credit. Take advantage his resources and make sure to stay in touch with him if you are facing a problem. He may seem intimidating at first, but get past through his exterior and you'll see he is very cool.

Great dude once you get to know him. But expect to write A LOT. There is an essay every week, at about 5 pages a piece. If you take the time to do them and think critically, you will do good. He has a great sense of humor but can come off as intimidating. Other than that, he's one of my favorites at RCC.

I took it for the summer & if felt like there was writing back-to-back but it is very do-able since all assignments are due @ 12 online. Lots of extra credit essays a& SI sessions u can attend to get points. He is not strict on the format of the essays & test were ok, reading helps. He seems like a tough character but really is understanding!

Assessments, essays, & reading essential to passing. Took this class in the SUM. although it was a lot of writing there is plenty of time to ask questions to him & SI so no excuses to not do well in them. Flexible with essay format but specific details need to be included in them. Go to SI, he is very knowledgeable,

Dr Thompson is a no-nonsense kind of guy that wants his students to succeed and get a truly realistic view of Criminal Justice. The class list doesn't state this, but ADJ1 is a CRITICAL THINKING COURSE. Expect him to challenge you if you make general statements without thinking about them first. I appreciate that he wasn't biased, but the book was.

AMAZING teacher! Currently taking my second class with him. I took him during winter and got an A, even though I didn't read the book as recommended. TONS of extra credit and the SI really helps with her outlines and explanations of things. Show up and pass, or don't, the lectures are video taped but you won't get credit, as he takes attendance.

Great teacher! Very informative about the criminal justice system & definitely knows what he is taking about. The homework/work can get quite difficult, but he will gladly help & there's always the book or other resources for information. Currently taking my third class with him & received A's on my other two classes. Definitely recommend.

took prof. Oliver for both adj.2&3 and he is a tough grader, but he is very smart and you will learn a lot from his examples. Meet with his teacher instructor alysia she will help you understand all assignments. First and for most, do all required homework if you don't you will not pass. There's quizzes every week so do all the readings.

WATCH THE LECTURES, TAKE NOTES, BE THOROUGH ON YOUR PAPERS, AND DO ALL THE EXTRA CREDIT YOU CAN!

If you're serious about criminal justice then this is the right professor for you! He is a very respected man, and makes the material interesting, he is a very tough grader but easy to get along with, don't skip class do all the extra credit possible and you will pass.

I took this professor almost four years ago but just noticed this site. Just wanted to say he was amazing, full of knowledge. and very helpful. He can be a little intimidating but he cares about his students.

I love his course all you have to do is follow his outlines and you will get an A guaranteed plus, he gives us extra credit.

I recently took his class in Spring for ADJ2/ADJ3. his class was not tough, all you have to do is follow the outlines he preps for class. And pay attention to what he is saying, he does allow you to go against his word on law enforcement as long as you can back yourself up. Both his classes I would take again. Just follow directions and you'll pass

I enjoyed this class so much ! Thompson is an amazing professor who will teach you the criminal justice with passion and purpose.

I loved taking this class so much, I can say with certainty that everything I learned I have used for other classes in discussions and such. There was a lot of work but it was rewarding, I did not once think "ugh I'm never going to use this". Do your work and you'll get an A plus he also offers extra credit. Take the class you won't regret it!

Great professor with real life experience of the course for which he is teaching. Has an immense amount of knowledge which he shares with us not just because were his students but it seems as if he genuinely cares for our well being.

I have taken ADJ 1 & ADJ3 in the fall 2017. I have never been a fulltime student until this semester. But these two classes are pretty easy to get through. Just keep up with the essays (outlines are there), complete the quizzes and short optional answers (THE OPTIONAL STUFF WILL HELP), I strongly recommend going to SI sessions if he has a SI!

Wow this professor is absolutely amazing! He stays up for hours and only gets maybe 2 hours of sleep just to help his student. I would take this class over and over again and it is recommended to take this class with him. He will call you or text at whatever time to help you with an assignment. Words can't even describe how amazing he is!

A rare find. He has so much experience in the field (decades on decades/degrees on degrees). Here's the thing: Apathy gets to him. Participate in class, even if you have no idea what you're talking about. He'll guide you to the right answer. Great feedback on papers; do rough drafts & change what he tells you to! Just participate and he'll love you

I was expecting for him to be very strict, but he is very cool and easy to talk to and if u dont ask for help then you will struggle. Get ready to type for winter session we had 3 essays no text book required.

Hes very nice and cares for student, if u need help all you have to do is ask. He has a grading score in which you have to accumulate a certain amount of points but easy A if you do the work. Will definitely take his class again

For the first time taking college courses in 2017, he makes learning a welcoming and very insightful experience. He was more than willing to teach me about laws pertaining to animals

He is a tough grader on the three major assignments. He responds quickly, and is willing to help you. I was falling his class, but he saw my hard work. He helped me as to how I can receive a B. I thought I was going to fail, but talking to him really helped. If you are struggling just talk to him. He will help in the best way possible.

so thompson loves to talk. hes very into polotics and whats going on now. sometimes hes a little difficult to understand by what work he wants but just ask and he will clear things up. make sure to just do your work and try to engage in lectures and youll pass.

Professor Thompson is such an amazing professor he really gives out so much information about the chapters. Hes a great professor if youre really into criminal justice system.

This class was amazing and so was the teacher, because it is online he did not require us to be there but you want to be there it helps with the papers you have to write. Make sure that you take notes and do not be afraid to talk he takes participation in to consideration. I hope to maybe take one more class in the future if time permits.

His class is a lot of reading, but it's an interesting read, especially if you are interested in the criminal justice field. He is a harsh grader, but he offers a draft to be submitted for feedback, and his outlines are extremely clear. His lectures do help smoothen the edges in your paper but your grade is mostly on the readings.

This Professor was amazing! He is very knowledgeable, and extermily open to listening to all opinions and gives awesome feedback. He is very critical when it comes to papers but if you do them and make sure that you think critically he grades pretty well. He loves class participation so make sure you participate a lot. Have fun!

Professor Thompson was a great professor. You do have to read and attend class but his classes were never extremely difficult. You have to sincerely try to fail. There is a lot of writing but its mostly based off of experiences and society. Unfortunately he did recently pass away so its an opportunity missed if you never got to be in his class.
