Terrible. Not helpful. Talks way too much. Not clear on any topics.
Never take her western civ class if you don't like studying your arse off. Her tests are impossible! The women's history was great though. No tests, just papers. She does give great lectures though. And she's really strict.
very boring, will repeat what she had already said several times. gave an 8 page killer paper. tests were hard. the only good thing was that she gave alot of extra credit via tough quizes without them you'll need a miracle to get a good grade.
One word describes her, "impossible". When the best grade in the class on all the tests was a 72% (C-) then you guess what the kids who only studied for two hours got. I had to drop the class because I was bored and very frusterated.
She's the epitome of a horrible teacher and I agree with the previous comments ten fold.
Very VERY difficult teacher. While its nice that she doesn't give out tests (at least not in Women in West. Civ.), the papers are killer. EXTREMELY strict in the classroom as well. Its hard to focus.
Terrible teacher, has a very condescending attitude, IMPOSSIBLE to understand the topics she speaks on and even more impossible to read her handwriting. Has classroom rules like a third grade teacher (no chewing gum, slouching, etc.)I would not recommend taking any of her classes EVER!
shes very hard, but i learned a lot.
Very unhelpful, favors some people over others. Teaching style is sporadic and confusing. Tests questions do not always cover topics from class and are often pointless. Sometimes misinformation is taught to class. I don't recommend taking her classes.
She is a very tough teacher and that's not always a bad thing. However, her lectures are unclear, and convoluted. She talks at the class instead of to the class. It takes a lot of extra curricular activity to understand the cirriculum. She's just not a talented teacher. In one word, FRUSTRATING.
HORRIBLE DONT EVER TAKE HER
Great prof if you're there to work and not play games on your cell phone, do your humanities homework, chat about last weekend's concert, or kick back for a snooze or snack. Extremely informative, firm but not strict, fair but demanding. She has high standards and expects college level performance.
A great class with a professor who challenges students. Definitely worth your time and effort. I do agree, she does favor some students over others. I do think she should try to engage more discussion on the lecture topics. I do recommend this class if you are prepared to work hard.
Mrs. G can be difficult to follow and short with her students. She is very intelligent, but that doesn't always translate to teaching well. I never missed a class or assignment, did the xtra credit, took notes. Was scared to death that she'd give me a bad grade, but got an A. Good luck.
Honestly, I learned alot from Mrs. G. I came to class prepared to work and had her for two courses in the same semester (what was I thinking!!!) I am a history major and had a HARD time getting A's in both of her classes. i would NOT take the class if you are not a history major.
Her class is pretty hard. She expects you to not just memorization, but understanding. If you do all your studying, you should get a pretty good grade in her class. She does have this thing with favoritism, but just work hard and pay attention and you'll have no probs w/her.
Challenging but fair. Very intelegent woman; lectures are very clear and to the point. If you wanna learn - take her class, but don't expect to lay back and relax (or God forbid sleep) in her classroom. One of the best teachers I've ever had.
she sucks she is very onpiative and needs to be quiet dont take her take bill wrightson

HORRIBLE PROFESSOR! took it over summer, class went from 40 in beginning to 20 at end. 12 pgs notes per day??! I go to a 4 year university and thought organic chem was easier than this class. Tests were tricky and unclear. the only fair portion was the blue book part. take another class if possible.
This class sucked! She treats the class like middle schoolers, and the class is extremely dry, she has the class print out at least 100 pages of typed lecture notes which were available half way throught the semester because she is computer illiterate. She is a somewhat nice lady, but teaches like Hitler would
Mrs. G is tough, but (mostly) fair. Very opinionated, and cannot seem to keep her political views out of the subject matter. Be prepared to encounter some revisionist history of the last 20 years or so. I did okay in both of her classes, but got a low grade on the Women's History final because I dared to disagree with her.

Sadly- the worst college prof. I have ever had. It was impossible to respect her because she had no respect for her students. Quite frankly, she's rude!
This class is very boring and there is like a million pages she has you print out. if you are gonna go over them you don't need to print them out duh! don't sign up for this class just stay away!

This class is a challenge but very rewarding. Although she can be intimidating if you just ask for help she's actually increadibly nice. It's still one of the best classes I've taken.

The worst professor at ARC. Wants you to learn a whole bunch of notes, read book, which is totally different, and even if you do, you still do bad on tests. Tests are multiple choice, but they are rediculously confusing. My reaction to 50% of the q's: What a f*** is she asking me??? Dropped after getting 45% on 1st test. And got a W-late 1st test!
Mrs. G can be a mean woman at times, but I respect her because she knows her stuff. I attended every class, tape recorded her lectures and did all extra credit and got an A for the class. Just don't make her mad, read all of the text, record all her important points and you will do well. This is an educated woman, much can be learned from her.
don't take her.. she is rude and doesn't know how to teach. her tests consist of multiple choice that are like readuing an essay on each question. and studying doesn't help at all.
This teachers teching style is crap.To pass this class you need 200 points and that consists of three really confusing tests and a paper that she has really high expectations on.No classwork so there's no way to help your grade if your failing. If you like to read like 7 chap. per test, take her, if you have ADD like me, don't take her you'll fail.
Ms G is a very tough prof but very good, im a hist/soc sciences major and ive never learned so much. her lectures are good and the outlines we print out she lets us use on the test. The tests are really hard, but if your goal is to learn something, take her class. She can seem rude sometimes but its only bc stupidity annoys her. Shes a good prof
Prof. G is a very educated woman that demands excellence from all. Though she is very thorough in her lectures, her tests are very confusing. Both my husband and I took her class (many semesters apart) and she gave us both B's with no explaination. These grades dropped each of our GPA's below 4.0. She also refuses to respond to ?'s about scores
Mrs. G was not helpful and her lectures did not go along with the book assinged. It was a boring class overall because all she did was lecture and nothing else. The essay was worse because she didn't make it clear on what she wanted. It seemed like she assumed that we were all history majors.
Very interesting teacher, but her tests are killer! Great at teaching though. You must show up to class and read the book to pass.
without a doubt the hardest class i've ever taken. Olivera is very intelligent who goes on in lectures as if she was reading a textbook. however everyone in the class was failing and the tests cover WAY too much information. if you take this class GOOD LUCK cuz your gonna need it
All she does is lecture, make sure you have you coffee. You cant really afford to miss any classes, and you have to read the book. My biggest issue is the class was the most boring I have ever had. Maybe I just don’t like History who knows but the whole class is lecture and that’s it, no interaction at all, if that is what you like this is for you.
Her class is terrible. I would not wish her on my worst enemy. Lectures are boring with no class participation. I would e-mail her and she still would not be helpful. Tests Q's have nothing to do with anything. Assigns a ridiculously hard paper. Tough on attendance. Please, don't make the mistake I made. Strict, but I still learned nothing.
A goddess. Inspires curiosity, critical thought, and university-level papers. The breadth of the material is lengthy but her lectures give a sense of realness and humanity to an other-wise stale subject matter. You'll come away valueing the lessons of ancient history instead of feeling burdoned by it.
Mrs. Garasinin is a great professor. She wants her students to do well in life and therefore, her expectations far exceed most other instructors'. Mrs. G does not sell education short so if you take this class be ready to give her your best work and understand you have room to grow. Take this course. It is challenging and you WILL learn.
Professor not willing to attempt to answer students questions. Every single student failed the first test and she got mad at the class blaming them instead of changing her teaching style.
Professor G. teaches the "big picture" of world history--the themes. If you are used to just memorizing facts and not looking for meaning, you won't do well. If you think about the big picture, how/why different civilazations started and lived you will get her class and do well. You have to think! Isn't that what college is for?
Olivera is one of the most knowledgable history teachers I have ever had. She challenges you to take notes and read the book and make connections between the two. She is a demanding teacher but she is extremely fair and will help you if you need it.
She is a terrible teacher who just restates what her notes say and doesnt present any information that isnt in the notes expect for her biased opinions on history. Her opinion, which she offers as fact is that all men are evil, america is a terrible country, and all women are oppressed, especially in america.
doesn't make class intresting
very strict and very hard to get a good grade in this class.
Honestly the worst teacher I have EVER had. She is so smart and knows everything about history, except for how to how to TEACH it. If you like history in general you might do okay in her class, but if history is not your subject, you dont stand a chance.

firt of all dont ever take ancient history. it sucks. second, dont take this lady. boring. I leaned how to write backwards and perfected it. i'd rather shave my head than ever be in her class. just find another teacher. 3 really hard tests and a horrible paper at the end.
Okey just to let you know that you are all mistaken. Professor Garashanin is a great great teacher. It is just for those lazy people who do not want to do anything in her class complaining that she is a hard, evil, crazy person. Wrong Wrong Wrong. She grades fairly and helps those who really want to achieve something in this world. I took her class
She just gives you a "outlines" and then reads them back to you in class. I love history but she destroys it for me. Read the book, its makes this class bearable... barely
I've had a very positive experience with American River College however with this professor I'm suprised that somebody with such a poor conception of proper grammar in speech and in writing was allowed to keep the same job for as long as she has.
She is very knowledgeable in her field but has a hard time relating it to her students. If you work weekends or have children, don't take this class. You won't be able to devote the time needed to get a good grade. She lectures all day everyday. Honestly, this class was just not worth the trouble. She is better suited to teach history majors.
The most positive thing that i can say is that she is very knowlegable. However, the surprose take home tests take the whole weekend to do even if you have studied and paid attention. She is notorious for poiting out failure in classmates in frot of class, you never know if you are doing good on a test. i dont reccomend.
The worst teacher that I have ever met in my entire life. There was no way for us to know how we are doing in the class, so we couldn't drop it in time. Very strict, please don't take her, or you will deeply regret your choice. Again, THE WORST INSTRUCTOR IN THE WORLD!!!
She is the worst teacher I have ever had. She is rude to everyone is class and gets some sort of perverse joy by pointing out student's flaws for the entire class to see. She is extremely unclear and often runs past the end of class time. Her assignments and tests are also a joke as they often change dates. She is extremely biased. Worst ever!!
Took summer class. Please do not make the same mistake as me. She is terribly difficult to follow, and although I approached her a couple of times for assistance, she basically belittled me and gave no concrete solutions. Please steer clear, as this prof. is a land mine just waiting to explode.
Pay attention and take good notes. Ask the teacher any questions and she will be helpful.
She is extremely intelligent, and definately knows her stuff. I can see how the majority of people who take her don't like her because they expect it to be easy. IT IS A COLLEGE LEVEL HISTORY COURSE Most students expect to just show up and get the grade she makes you work for it. Its nice to see a teacher who really wants to help you for the future
Definitely knows her stuff, but has expectations that are a little high. If you take her ancient world civ class make sure you know every little detail, otherwise she'll stop class for 10 minutes to try and make students remember what she taught two weeks ago. She can also be very demeaning at times, so be ready for that also.
Worst class ever. She is way too hard teaches like she is a stanford professor. Way too much reading and notes plus she gives you like 5 10 minute quizzes that require alot of info plus they have nothing to do with the readings!! UGHH...dont take her...Just a warning
First day seemed like an okay teacher. Then quickly went to h*** in a hand basket. Ridicules people in front of the class, complains about students "not reading" after not actually assigning anything. Recommend that unless you can tolorate abuse and her being a (written by student in evaluation) "Man-hating fascist" you stay clear.
I've enjoyed every history class I've ever taken except this one. All she does is lecture, and she sounds like she's reading a textbook when she talks. Teacher is very biased. Class is extremely boring, and she likes to ridicule people in class. Tests are hard but take home and with the extra credit possible to get a B without buying the book.
Professor Garasinin exhibits Scholarly qualities and is a Professor who effectively provides a glimpse into ancient history which is at times shocking and yet very necessary in understanding the roles of women; past and present, within societies dominated by men. I would recommend this course for all students, male and female.
This is a good professor. Read your assignments, discuss in class, and write your papers. It's not that tough folks.
She is horrid. "Open book" test but wait! YOU CAN'T USE YOUR TEXT BOOK, or the lectures from class, or ur notes from class. I agree with the post a couple below mine. She lectures non-stop and gets mad at students who dont have the 3,500 dates in history memorized by the first week. Good luck in this class. I just pushed my grad back by dropping it
Extremely hard to please
afwul class practically impossible to pass. test are take home yet still impossible even though you spend hours searching for the answers.
Okay so I'm kinda in the middle on this one. I took her class and didn't understand much. I read the chapters we were gonna be talking about during the next class and then was lost because what we talked about in class had nothing to do with what I was told to read. You must follow her blackboard instructions and lectures. I think basically if
She is a great teacher she really knows her stuff. she always has a smile and a passion to teach history. you have to read the book and follow her notes to even have a clue of whats going on. she does want you to know it as well as she knows it. plan to study 2-3 hrs a day for her class alone.
DIFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFICULT. great lady, but bad prof. too much of this and that and you must learn too many things that get you lost. most confusing class ever
She was a hard teacher but gave many extra credit quizzes in order for students to get a good grade. Overall, I enjoyed the class.
This teacher requires you to be on time according to her time which is about 3 minutes early and she sometimes won't let you in if on time according to the wall clock. She gives take home tests that are impossible to pass and "extra credit" quizzes that are sooo hard to get any points on. She is so hard and mean and treats you like you're stupid.
The class is hard, but very interesting. She has so much information it's amazing, read the book, print out the notes she gives you online and do the work. Pretty basic stuff, coming to class is a must!!! She can be funny and has entertaining lectures. It's a good class, but there is real work.
I will go so far as to say that the complaints from most students are from people who have no concept of working hard in a college setting. If you work hard, take her criticisms and use them to make your work better, rather than sit and whine, you can pass handily. Pay attention, study, and do the work. This is how Garasanin operates.
This professor is really really hard. Stay away from her. Granted she is good at what she does and knows a lot, but no. She really did 300 years in 30 minutes. She is probably going to give me my first bad grade ever. Her tests are impossible to pass, I mean she failed the whole class last exam...so what does that say? Stay away from her!
She is hard, she has adult expectations of her adult students and the majority of people who complain about her, are probably use to having professors who baby them. I found her expectations to be reasonable for an adult.
I think what people who are saying those who are crying about it are used to having their hand held is b.s. I know teachers and have had teacher who have hard as heck tests but they grade fairly, and they are nowhere near easy classes or teachers. She is hard, I would not advise her but she is a great person with adult expectations of everyone. So
She knows her stuff. If you have a question it seems like she does not want to answer it. She seems mad when you don't understand her and need her to repeat something. I would try to not take her for any classes.
Granted, she knows what she's teaching, but as a teacher she seems to be lacking somewhat. She was often quite rude to the students in my class, whether or not it was warranted.
I really enjoyed her teaching. She is a very hard teacher about grades, but she cares about you passing the class and about you being prepared for classes beyond it. The tests are difficult and unless you're reading you will most likely fail. Be ready to work hard for this class.
What can I say about the teacher that ruined my GPA? I didn't miss one class and got a C. She is smart, but her writing can be incomprehensible. Considering that your test score relies on her ability to communicate the question clearly, good luck. All the students in my class that did well on the test, cheated by calling each other for answers.
Awful Teacher! Highest test score 78/100 tells student's on daily basis how stupid we are. I am a 3.6 GPA student and her class is hard. She hates questions and 75% of the class has dropped after the first take home exam. Her syllbus is 10 pages NEED I say more?
If you want a class to breeze thru don't take this class. This is not a fluff class. Was the hardest B I ever earned but you will learn a lot. Very helpful if you go to her office hour.
Not an easy class. Its a subject I thought I would breeze through. I used up 3 ink cartridges to print out notes. That said, she knows what shes talking about. She gets a bad rep, but all the extra credit she offers helps a lot. Shes not going to hold your hand, but its a college class. If you want to acctually learn its not a bad class to take.
I was not alllowed to take notes and she expects students to pay to print her lecture notes for everything. All that seems to matter in her class is to sit, shut up, and memorize. She is not very approachable. I dropped her class in hopes of finding a teacher with a better (interactive) approach to teaching. I would not recommend her to anyone.
Teacher is ridiculous. Id have to say she is probably the worst teacher i have had at AR. 2/3 test are take home and the average score in my class on both was a 53 and a 47. she expects you to know the material before she teaches it to you. ill just say class started with 43 it is now a class of 12.
In terms of teaching a college-level course, she is one of the few teachers at AR that expects college standards out of her students. Get there ON TIME, stay for the whole class, take your notes, read the material, and pay attention. If you have to miss/be late/leave early for something unexpected just talk t her. She is reasonable.
AVOID! Look at how many reviews she has and then look at the rating. She jumps around to much, gives you not time to clearly understand what she said, and continues to ramble on. She is strict, but that's understandable. But, what I don't understand is how she knows MANY people don't pass and she doesn't look at herself as the cause. HAPPY I LEFT!
Brilliant! Of the few people that agree with me, most people fail because they are unable to step back and see the bigger picture of what it i she's teaching. Memorization alone, won't earn you an A, but a little analaysis of the facts WILL. If you're actually TRYING to learn something from history, I suggest this Instructor! Good Luck ^_^
Very difficult class. She doesn't care it's a JC, she acts like it's UC Davis. She does know her history, but is very difficult to take notes when she jumps around too much. I passed, and am happy I do not need to take her class again. I wouldn't suggest taking her class during the summer as 27 ppl from 46 werent there by the final. Half kicked out
She is very strict and rude to her students. Does't care if students don't understand what she is teaching. Her home take exams are super hard all questions just ask "which one of the following is incorrect or correct.." Horrible teacher and her lectures are very boring.
She knows her history very well, but has a horrible teaching style. if you enjoy only listening to her talk and boring powerpoints then take her. She puts no excitment or fun into her lessons. her teaching style is less than ideal. On top of all of this she is very rude and talks down to her classes constantly. I would recommend anyone else.
I hated this class. It's boring and she doesn't care about the students. She's rude and will kick you out of class if you do something that annoys her. I worked my butt off in the class and couldn't pass. I've taken high English classes and can't pass her writing assignments. There is no motivation to go to class.
Not an easy class to say the least but everyone saying how terrible she is needs to grow up. She is one of the only teachers at AR who runs a college level classroom but that does not mean she is a bad teacher. She expeccts you to follow her rules and treat her with respect and she will respect you as a student and a person. Very reasonable.
A super difficult class. She is too strict and rude. Everyone worked hard on their assignment and half of the class gets an F on it. 2 take home midterms, many people cannot get half of the answers right. It was multiple choices, one midterm 50 questions can have 12 pages long. All the answers are "nearly correct? and maybe inferred from the text.
she was terrible, unreasonable.hard. and rude. impossible never take this class.
She is sharp and knowledgeable. Students are expected to be courteous, polite and to complete assignments. There is nothing unreasonable about this wonderful professor. She's the only professor I've had who actually pushes u and sets the bar high so you reach your full potential. I recommend this class. I'd take it a 1000x. U never forget good ones
she's rude to her students and belittles students for any question they ask her grading is at an unrealistic standard most of the class fails no matter how hard students work DO NOT TAKE HER
Is not an easy class, you are expected to act like a student, who wants to learn. The goal is not to memorize but to learn. I struggled a lot, but I am happy I stayed because I learned a ton. She does provide a lot of material. Extra credit quizzes. Just be on time. Pay attention. She is a true historian who is too good for a community college btw.
This is NOT an easy class. That being said Professor Garasinin is a good teacher and can be very helpful. She wants you to learn and take the time to read and put in the effort to do good work. If you are working and going to school I would not take this class because you will not do well. Come on time, don't text and ask questions of you need to.
1) I never review professors. 2) I never come on here to see what other people say. For this teacher, I wished I did. Strict, hard, and terrible hand-writting. Sat in the front and I not understand what she was writing. TEST Q's are confusing. OG is smart. I should have dropped but I aint no quitter. Topic was of interest but she made it boring.

This class was the hardest class I have ever taken in my life and the hardest grade I have ever earned. She wants you to learn, but I suggest only taking this class if you want a challenge and are willing to work hard.
This professor was very hard. Her exams were so hard, they were take home, and I still got D's on the exams. She likes to throw you off by using similar wordings in multiple choice. She wants you to learn at a "University" level, that's why she makes it so difficult, but it's a HISTORY CLASS-not an everyday subject most of us will use daily.
Class was way too hard. Sat up front and was falling asleep because of how bad it was. Wish I checked here first before I picked the class. Just horrible. Seriously horrible. HARDEST class I have ever taken
This is the HARDEST class I've ever taken even though this is a summer class. If your not willing to spend hours studying the material over and over again , the tests and the extra-credit quizzes will be nearly IMPOSSIBLE to pass or even get points on. She also will have you do a 5 page minimum essay during the middle of the semester. GOOD LUCK
Taking this class in the summer is not recommanded. Too much to cover in 6 weeks. Subject very interesting, teacher very helpful if you go ask her for explanations, but yes it is hard class.
I have never done a rate my professor for as long as I have been at ARC. I felt compelled to do one on this professor because I feel that people need to be forewarned before you settle for a incomplete. When I take classes I do it to learn, this class was horrible, hard to understand and I felt completely disrespected when asking a question.
I took this Professor for Hist. 305 and it was nothing more than interesting. She is tough, but fair on how she treats her students. If you tend to miss a lot of class then this is not the professor for you. She holds everyone accountable for learning the syllabus, so there is no excuses. Overall I learned a lot and don't regret the class.
Assigns no homework and the test do not reflect subject matter that was discussed in class.
She grades tough and when a student asks questions she talks down at them if you cough or yawn she snaps at you and treats you like you've done something heinous or god forbid you phone accidentally goes off she'll immediately kick you out of the class attendance matters and she only lectures on boring power points the whole time
She is a an extremely tough Professor. She is very thorough with her lectures. There is a lot of information that you need to know. She posts the do-at-home exams that are really hard. Can't be late whatsoever. No eating food in class. Sleeping or Texting? Suspended. Leave in the middle of class? Absent. Two absences or two late times? Dropped.
She talks for an hour, and if you don'y understand you are in trouble. She won't cover part of the information that will be on the test, whole sections she says you need to read in the book, and read online, where she posted.
Great at making history come alive. She is always on time and prepared. Don't fall asleep, it's disrespectful and also you will be sent out early and marked absent. Is a fare and intelligent woman. Worth the time and money
I took her in Spring 2016 and this was the hardest class I ever took! She turns off the lights and does power point the entire time in a monotone voice, so it gets boring fast. God forbid if you yawn, sneeze/cough to much, look at the clock or even have your phone go off because she will go off on you and send you out and mark you absent. Dont take
Dont take her class unless its the only class youre taking this semester. She thinks shes teaching a masters degree class and she gets super insecure and upset with the class when they cant answer questions in class.
She seems like an entitled professor, knowing that i'm at a COMMUNITY college, not Harvard treats us adults like Kindergarten grade, will roast you if you ask common questions or answer the wrong questions, and really just stright up boring. Don't take her and waste your money, I fought and still lost (i dropped out)
Unfortunately because of the subject of this course this Professor makes the best effort with the heavy lectures. NO easy task for sooo much information that we must learn. The class will seem long and boring at times. She does provide powerpoint slides to print out. The book is definitely required. Tests are heavy with information from the slides.
She is an exemption in California education system I believe. All you get from her is discouraging, disrespect, humiliation and show off
Garasanin is a very knowledgable person and very passionate; however, the downside is she does not know how to teach. So what does she know how to do? She knows how to belittle the students and criticize us when we do not know the answer to her question. Would I recommend her? NO! unless you want to experience anxiety after every class you attend.
She may be a good person but definitely not a good teacher. She likes to show presentations and lecture. The unfortunate part of taking her class is that she does not like answering questions rather she assumes that everyone knows what she knows. To pass her class you will have to study on your own.
This class is lecture heavy and if you skip more than 2. Lasses, she will drop you. Tardiness is not accepted either, she will still drop you. Her class is much easier if you stay on top of the reading, but its easy to fall behind due to the density of her content.
She likes just to lecture not answering any question. All you would receive in her class is anxiety, despising, discourages.
Absolutely the worst history teacher to take. Stay away and save your gpa by taking someone else. Shes great at making simple content such as history more difficult than what it actually his. Youll learn nothing about the interesting facts and events and have to memorize more on politics and city states (boring)
This class is a joke. I love History but taking this course makes me want to cry. Her lectures are pages worth of reading! I mean lots that you have to memorize or takes notes on, hoping it will be on the exam or quiz. The exams are hard and nothing Ive prepared myself for. If youre a history major, take the class. Dont recommend this class!
As someone who genuinely enjoys history, this sucked the life out of me. Horrible book choice and super dry lecture notes. The material on the test isn't covered in the book or the notes. I had difficulties submitting an assignment once and just... 0 empathy. Prof doesn't care about students whatsoever.
She is absolutely horrible at online classes. For half the semester, her assignments wouldn't show up properly. We were supposed to read the book and go through PowerPoints to learn. Book taught you completely different material than what was in her PowerPoints. Tests were different than what was in the book/powerpoint. Do not take her.
Discussion boards are AWFUL. answering to the best of your ability will get you a mid grade. Doing all of your work to the best of your ability will get you a MID grade. This professor does give extra credit but by the end of the course you may be relying on it because you were graded so harshly. No advice to pass because grading is arbitrary.
Just don't take this class with this professor. Save yourself the trouble and money and choose another professor as this professor's class is very tough and unenjoyable, she's a tough grader and likes assignment done in a very specific manner.
Olivera's class is demanding, but Unstuck ai was a lifesaver for me. The lectures are dense, so staying on top of the readings and using helpful study tools like Unstuck ai are key. The grading can be harsh, but putting in the work pays off.
I highly recommend that you never take any classes with this professor. The professor should be helpful, supportive, and directive for the students to learn, but she is absolutely not. Indeed, her place is not in college.
This professor doesn't allow anything for late assignments, she doesn't teach you much of anything and the assignments are based on weird criteria. Take literally anybody else but this person they are simply bad.
If you need to take hist300 for your major, i would recommend taking ANYONE ELSE besides her. Save your money and most importantly save your GPA from this “professor” i'm forced to call. She is an excruciating harsh grader, and gives no meaningful feedback on your discussion posts which are harshly grades as well . Her feedback is meaningless .
Too much lecture and sometimes the questions on the quizzes and tests are very random. Very tough grader because she goes off on her very specific rubric that you have to follow to a tee. Can't submit late assignments and the discussions are frustratingly hard to get a full grade even if you tried your best. Wouldn't recommend if taking for credit
