Was not any help. Seemed like she would rather be anywhere but at school or helping her students. Extremely hard to understand. The final was fair though, but assignments had nothing to do with what was taught in class.
Overall a very poor prof. You will likely learn nothing from attending class. Reading the textbook will help loads. I went to a midterm tutorial session taught by a student and learned more than I had the whole semester. If you can avoid her, do so.
She is a horrible prof. Her accent is nearly incomprehensible, she's arrogant when someone corrects one of her many mistakes, and most of her slides are cut and paste from the textbook, which will honestly teach you more than she will.
She is a very bad teacher, I can not understand a word she says because of her horrible accent. Her slides are copied right from textbook, her class is useless to attend, you will learn more from the text book that actually can speek proper English. She doesn't give enough time to write down answeres to examples, very hostile when corrected(often)
horrible, horrible...cannot understand anything she says, give very few examples, and if she does she goes through them within seconds... not the type of proff who is willing to explain more if needed...
Very bad prof. not helpful at all.
She's a really good teacher. Her teaching is clear and precise. Most people mistake her to be too serious. Meet her outside of the class and see.
She is a very poor teacher. She copies her slides from the textbook, and she gets mad when people correct her. Her lectures are all over the place and extremely hard to follow. I did not learn anything from them and quit going to class. She was not even willing to put up the answers to her review for the final. Overall, I would NOT recommend her.
this prof is actually one of the best physics instructor i ever had. i told this course before with another instructor and i drop but her preciseness makes everything so simple and easy. i will really recommemd her if you want to know physics
the funniest thing with this lady is that she only write on a very small portion of the board, she never makes a proper use of the board spaces but over all she is great. attend all her lectures and you will definitely do great
Do not recommend this prof at all. You can barely read anything she writes on the board during class and does this so quickly you cannot understand anything going on. Is not very nice when you ask questions during class and outside of class she isn't much help either. Does not seem interested in her students at all.
She's not great but she's not horrible. Her writing is messy, she can be hard to understand, and she is very irritable. A good thing is that she does a lot of examples that are helpful but she might not go through every step. I found as long as you sit near the front, pay attention, attend every lecture, and do the work you will do just fine.
she is very kind , and always willing to help. she solves a lot of examples and her exams are fairly easy on purpose because she wants the average to be high.
I had her for both physics 109 and physics 119. She is an amazing teacher! as long as you go to every lecture and make en effort to do the homework and participate in class, you will do great in her class! the test are easy and most of the time some of the questions come from the review, because she wants people to do good in her class.
come on guys i totally disagree with most of the moment below. this lady is one of the best physic instructor ever, i took both 109 and 119 with her, she is very astonishing, she is helpful both in and out of class, her note is very precise, i never read the textbook i just i attend lectures and i got 88. i will greatly recommend her
Simply put; the best instructor University of Regina ever had.
Fantastic prof! Extremely helpful both in & out of class. If you pay attention and work hard, she will put in extra effort to help you out. Very nice and admits to making mistakes sometimes. Has lots of funny sayings and gives loads of examples. Exam questions came from assignments & reviews so were easy if you studied! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PROF!!
Hard to understand but knows her stuff. Ive heard, just approach her every study hours, get her to know you, be known, and she'll talk about the future test I.e. midterms and final,
VERY helpful and nice. She will often give you the answers and obvious tips
i didn't understand anything in the class..she rushed her questions and doesn't completely solve all of them
BEST Prof ever!!!!!!!!!! easyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
People say she is bad because of her Nigerian accent. She is very clear. Extremely helpful 100%. She gives hints during midterm and final exam. people shouldn't say she is bad because she has an accent. I'm white, at the beginning i didn't understand her but a week later I understood everything she said because i got used to her accent.
Come on people. This professor is one of the greatest if not the greatest. I mean, she wants her students to do well. She never tries to give a hard midterm. Her midterms are not hard at all in fact i got 100% on both of her midterms this semester. She will help you during her office hours and during non office hours. Take physics with her!!!!!!!!!
She was my lab instructor and she took her time to explain everything very clearly to anyone who had questions. Also very understanding to first year students and their awful graphing skills.
very nice prof, will help you improve your physics, but your attendance is needed, marks fair. my performance in this class helped boost my gpa. goodluck!
She is the best Physics prof. i have had so far, in class, she is ridiculously clear, no surprises on her exam, i defiantly recommend her ...
Amazing Prof! Questions come from assignments, Gives hints for exam questions, and is very helpful. Attend class regularly and you will do well
Awesome prof. Easy to get in touch with, and very approachable. Would have her as a prof again.
she is good in exams , but she doesn't know how to teach
she is really good and helpful
Dr. Fasunwon is one of the best professors. She's extremely helpful with everything.
Dr Fasunwon is very knowledgable and passionate. She cares about every student. She is also approachable during office hours, via email and can help you with any concept. Her exam quest. come from exam prep, lecture notes, assignments, and sample exams. It is easy to get a good mark provided that you put some effort into the class. Amazing prof!
To be honest, she doesn't know the material very well. For that reason, if you have questions, she can't clarify for you even though she really wants to. However, questions in the exams are mostly from the assignments. Easy to get good marks. If you can teach yourself and know how to do the assignment, you'll be fine. Lectures are mainly examples.
She is easy prof in terms of test. If you know your the materials 90% is a peace of cake. Be sure to do all the assignments by yourself.
She does not do complete examples. I was more often then not lost. Her exams come from the class work but the examples were not always complete. Nothing more irritating then hearing "this is easy finish it yourself" not NOT EASY!!!! Examples were often rushed and it was difficult to take notes as she went so quickly.
Very good teacher
Fasunwon has a thick accent, one student asked to clarify a word she said and was quickly told to leave the lecture if she was going to ask about that. Terrible teacher, goes through examples not at all explaining what she is doing.
Fasunwon is a bad teacher. She has a thick accent that I struggled to understand. On top of that she was very unclear with her explanations and she does not post the in class example solutions. If you read the assigned chapters and make notes before class there should be no problem with tests. However, If there is a better option, take it.
She's an amazing teacher, she makes the class easy to pass. Very clear in explanation. Just make sure you understand every assignment and exam practice questions and you're sure to get an A in her course!
the prof was extremely confusing.... but the final was easy
I like her a lot as a person, but not at all as a teacher. She doesn't give full examples or always show how she derives her equations and most are left wondering she got from A to B in the notes. You have to attend class because she doesn't post her worked out examples online. She does give old midterms/finals though so that is helpful
In class she is a really tough person. I think this toughness is what degrades her. Outside the class, she is a different person, she is so easy and willing to help students. Spend time on assignments/studying for the Midterms and the final. She is a really tough grader and a simple miscalculation will take off half of the mark.
Best physic teacher ever. She is helpful, and she answers questions clearly. Her office hours are very helpful. I passed the class with a very high mark, but I had to study very hard for the mid-term and final exam. If you put in the hard work and you will pass the class. The lab is challenging but not very difficult.
Olu really cares about her students and believes that everyone can get a good mark if you work for it. Attendance mandatory and you must purchase TopHat to get participation marks. Weekly assignments were the only use of textbook. She will openly call you out in class. Grade based on weekly assignments, midterm, fine & lab
Phys109 was hard, but she made it become easier and more interesting. If you want to pass her class, you need to join all her class and note everything...
her class was hard and the lab was so hard
Lectures are dry but informative. Very helpful and extremely nice, especially outside of class. Assignments are fair. Exams are easy, especially if you study the exam prep questions in the asgnmts and do the old exams. Don't text in her class.
dont take physics with this prof.... if ur good in physics then its okay, but if u find physics hard dont take this prof.
Dr. Fasunwon is a wonderful prof. Her assignments are a must in order to do really well in the class and tests are pretty much based off of them. Definitely a GPA booster if you listen and participate in class. All in all, I will definitely take another class with her.
the only bad thing about physics 109 is the lab. students need more time to do the report, not all of us are physics genuises!
her class so funny and I love it, it's very hard to get less than A+ in her class
Very approachable and caring for students. Unfortunately, you must solve problem questions with only the ways she teaches you or the book. If you solve things mathematically you'd probably get a 1 or 0 out of 10 (even if answers are correct). Also, in class you must look at her eyes or she'd try to embarrass you by asking you a question lol.
Take the Phys with her guys. She is awesome.
Decent professor, lecture heavy - but if you take good notes, stay on top of the content, and study effectively - you can score very well in her class. Listen closely to the types of questions shes is emphasizing during lectures, as these will come up on midterms/exams. She will make subtle hints at important 'test worthy' q's.
This professor is not even half as bad as people make her seem. Yes, she is really strict about some things but it's truly because she wants students to do well in her class. I would say that going to class is ESSENTIAL for doing well in the course. I found the lab more challenging than the class itself.
She deals with students as high school teachers with thier students. Don't cares about her student otherwise she put efforts to teach well, hark marker Take the Russian prof is better
Fasunwon is a very good prof. She explained concepts clearly and took time to answer questions. Attendance is mandatory because she gives TOPHAT questions that are for marks but only 5%. You can talk with friends when answering tophat questions. Her midterm and final are extremely similar to assignment questions and in class questions. Good hi mark
She is an amazing professor and highly inspirational. The work load is a little heavy, but it's expected for physics classes.
She went through content WAY to quickly for my liking and her examples in class were usually hard to follow. Because of her use of powerpoints, she often missed steps and explanations that are important to understanding the basic concepts behind what she is trying to teach. This being said, she does seem to genuinely care about her students.
You go to her classes to sleep. She uses TopHat to do attendance, and a 90% attendance is required to write the final exam. She explains everything using PowerPoint, and does not do hand calculations. Her classes are long and boring, and her communication level is low, so it is very difficult to understand.
I despised being treated like a child, forced to buy software to take my attendance (department policy). The material was at a grade 11, maybe grade 12 level, and the lab was much more difficult than the class. Dr Fasunwon made every point sound like the main point, leaving me brain dead and struggling to focus. I hated class, but liked my prof.
Her summer class was a little hard to follow since she was rushing through examples very fast. She has a tendency to not like students who show up late to her class. She also likes to call people out for using their phones in her class. But she is very helpful and accessible in her office hours.
Dr. Olusola Fasunwon was a great professor! However, the class itself wasn't so great. I didn't even study the Rotational Motion & Equilibrium / Dynamics chapters for the final. I am looking forward to PHYS 119 (hopefully it's more like CHEM 104 cause I am more of a chem guy)! P.S. I wish Engineering would require more Chemistry courses than 104
she is a good prof, one of my best
Had her for 109 and she was just fine but the material was basic and needed little explanation. Have her for 119 and she isn't good at explaining the complex concepts. Basically taking her class to jot down examples of how to do problems. She tries to teach theory but has no practical knowledge plus a thick accent. Cares about your success though.
Rushed through examples and failed to explain basic concepts. Also expects you to be studying physics constantly. Often examples in class had nothing to do with the assignment. Midterm was hard because it was nothing like the practice exams she gave. Takes attendance as a part of your grade.
Dr Fasunwon is a very passionate professor who cares so much about her students, she made physics really simple. I enjoyed physics class for the first time but you have to be ready to study, lots of class examples which helped with the assignments, knowing the material is her passion. Be a studious students and you will enjoy her class.
Lots of material in courses, so she goes through her slides fairly quick (slides are posted). Cares about her students. Midterm and finals for both Physics 109 and 119 were easier than the questions given on assignments. As long as you go to class and pay attention, you'll get a good grade.
she is a good teacher but tough grader
Professor Olusula is a great teacher. She makes sure you are focused in her lectures, she might seem to be a bit rude with the student sometimes but that's is not the reality, she is REALLY caring and good. Make sure to participate and be prepared.
Really great teacher!!
She is not professional. She can be very rude, she uses public humiliation as her classroom management strategy. She threatens to take disciplinary actions against students publicly then lectures the whole class waisting lots of time. She claims that the pop quizzes are just to help but she has ridiculed the whole class when performance was poor.
Hardest class I've taken so far. She posts her lecture notes however she usually leaves the answers/solutions to questions blank so if you skip class or don't write very fast you won't get the answer. The way she writes out her solutions is also confusing so you end up re-teaching yourself when doing the homework. 10/10 would not recommend.
Dr. F is not as bad as people portray her to be. She might go through slides quickly but she is accessible after or outside the class. The lecture itself was alright but the lab is way more challenging. She is a nice prof overall, you wouldn't get a decent mark of course if you won't put an effort into learning! Would take another class with her :)
She makes no sense. She teaches math off prepared power points. Also she has office hours for 2 hours a week and was unable to make appointments. I had a lab turning the 2 hours she was available. She is decent 1 on 1 but not good at teaching a large group. She expects you to already know physics, even though it is an intro physics class. BEWARE.
Dr. Fasunwon's lectures are disorganized at best. Stick to the textbook to learn the material, as she doesn't explain any of her work or the process. If you're comfortable with physics you'll probably be fine. She's also ridiculous about handing in assignments: everything needs to be a certain format and if you're sick you're out of luck.
She is a good prof, but if you don't go to classes or you don't write fast, then that might be a problem.
Dr. Fasunwons lectures are my favourite, as she is an extremely funny and engaging prof; the 75 minute lectures often felt shorter than many of my 50 minute ones. The material covered in 261 is tough, but she teaches it well.
Amazing prof, she would make the lecture engaging, if you were not paying attention, you are more likely to be asked, her assistants where too harsh on marking the assignments though, other than that, I'd recommend her.
By far, the worst class that I have ever taken. Do not take her at any cost. Reading off of slides is not the way to teach physics. It would have been so helpful if she actually went through the examples. You need to teach yourself the course because she goes too fast to retain any info in class. Her assignments are 10x harder than examples.
A very horrid class. One of the worst classes ive ever taken. She does not explain her examples well or at all if to tell the truth. Gives way too many assignments and you basically have to each yourself
She says she cares about students but is quite condescending when people ask questions. She always says to ask her if we need help but whenever we do, she just says we should know it from class or to not worry about it. She's just dismissive and overall not helpful.
Awful teacher.
She forces you to participate and if you don't you could lose grade points, if you answer incorrectly then she calls you out and makes you feel bad. The proctored exam has many issues that will go unaddressed. You put in a lot of work but if you fail the final, you've wasted your time.
This class was a horrible experience. I did not have strong algebra skills prior to taking her class, and she literally did nothing to help my understanding. The math is all pre-done on slide shows, and she refused to explain her algebra when dealing with equations. I recommend taking physics with a different teacher if you struggle with algebra.
Fasunwon was by far the worst most disrespectful teacher I have ever had. Not helpful in the slightest and humiliates kids when they ask questions. Interrupts constantly, and completely left her class hanging when the final exam crashed. Instead, made us write during our christmas break. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS unless you plan on teaching yourself.
