She is the best math teacher that I ever had! I wish all math teachers were like her. I actually liked math when the class ended.
Professor LePoint is a great teacher. She explains math step-by-step. I wish she taught more classes on the campus.
I wish I could take all my math classes with Professor LePoint.
She is a cool teacher and she explains and answers questions well. I like her.
DO NOT TAKE HER!Save your GPA! These rating MUST have been written by the teacher herself. This teacher is lazy, incompetent, and she can not do a problem on the board to save her life!Too lazy to even setup MathLab which was a required purchase! Then she decided NOT to show up for class when it rained (posted it on FB!)Absent minded and unorganized!
Best teacher I ever had. Whoever says anything negative about this teacher is obviously someone who doesn't show up to class. She is a great teacher.
By far the best professor ever... Class went by fast. Explains well and makes sure the class gets it. Not too much homework and even came in on her own time to help us prepare for test! Wonderful sweet funny ;)
Even after I transfer to CSUN (hopefully lol), I will return here for to take her for Calc! If you want a teacher who is young enough to remember what it was like to be us, take her! She is understanding, patient, and makes EVERY effort to make things easier. Take home tests and cheat sheets on exams! Wooot Wooot! AND she's funny!
Professor LePoint is the best! She really cares about her students. I thought I would fail calculus, but I'm did better than I thought!!! Take her and you won't regret it...Trust me!!
After taking this course I was no longer scared of taking math because she made it fun and easy to understand. There were about 5 test and she drops lowest. Gave two take home exams and let us use cheat sheet in final. she gives extra credit you get about 15-20 h.w questions each class session which is nothing compared to other math classes.
I hate math, but she made it easier for me. She is really clear, helpful, and fun. This is my FIRST TIME getting a grade higher than a C...she does her best to make you pass. Great teacher. I highly recommend her, especially to students who have trouble with math. She will make your life easier. Not too much homework and easy tests.
yeah she's not a good teacher. like the other reviewer, all the other ratings were probably written by herself. she is extremely disorganized and makes mistakes all the time. her method of teaching is copying straight from the book. i feel like she tries to hard to get the students to like her. if u can get a better teacher, then please do
Don't take her! She's not organized and makes common mistakes. Her lectures are straight from the book. Don't know why vocabularies are necessary on a MATH TEST. These good ratings are probably written by students who are getting extra credit.
Lepoint is such a down to earth person. You can tell she loves math, and she wants all her students to succeed! She does make mistakes from time to time, but nobody is perfect (at least she does admit to making mistakes). Very feasible to get an A in her class, but you must put in the effort. Her homework assignments aren't time consuming.
She is the best teacher I ever had! If you can take her class, you are lucky! She teaches math so it's easy, and she helps us before tests. She truly cares. She requires work, but I got an A.
Professor LePoint is a great teacher. I want to take all my math classes with her. She makes the math easy to understand.
was the worst math professor I have encountered. shocked based off of these reviews yes you can get an A very easily but chances are you'll come out not understanding the content very well. especially don't take her if your field is math, engr, science, want to know math in depth. she teaches straight from the book, so just teach yourself instead
She is the best teacher we ever had! She makes Calculus easy. She is helpful, and teaches us how to read the book. She gives us real-life, interesting examples. I am getting an A. Anyone who speaks badly about her is a bad student who doesn't try. SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER WE EVER HAD!
She is a GREAT teacher. Spends time with students, gives sample tests, and extra credit. I have only good things to say about her teaching. She is clear, and much better than all the other math teachers I had.
Regarding the previous comment, math is math and if you know the concepts you're good to go. There is no "in depth". She doesn't teach straight from the book, she explains it and guides you through. It doesn't make sense to pay $200 for a book and not use it. This professor makes calculus easy to understand unlike most other professors.
She sucks. I'm good at math and love doing math so I can tell she is not that great at teaching math. Sure, she makes it easy to do so that's why everyone who doesn't know how to do math love her. Her tests are just as easy. So if you want an easy A take her class. But if you actually want to learn math then take another teacher.
I took her in Extended Spring, and she taught almost nothing. Extra credit has nothing to do with math but "benefiting" from students (i.e. purchasing her self-help book, liking her FB page). If you're taking math seriously, this teacher is a scam--and she boasts her scientific "credentials" every class meeting. (I got an A, obviously.)
Anyone notice a pattern among the "positive reviews"? Professor LePoint is a great teacher.*She is a great teacher.*Great teacher.*She is a GREAT teacher.*I wish all math teachers were like her.*I wish she taught more classes on the campus.*I wish I could take all my math classes with Professor LePoint.*I want to take all my math classes with her.
She always boast about how she was a rocket scientist and also worked for the Federal government. She also has her own book and website. However, she can't teach or solve a math problem on the board to save her life! All she does is copy the worked out examples straight from the textbook! I don't recommend her at all!
Before Math 5A, I also took Math 9 as well. Her way of teaching is fun and easy to understand. If you ask she tries her best to help you in various ways until you get the hang of it. It's true that she makes mistakes, but they are actually helpful. Think of it as a practice: why is it wrong? and how can it be fixed? Trust me, mistakes helps a lot.
I highly recommend her. She is a GREAT teacher. She helps you figure out the math. She will purposely make an error on the board, so you won't make the same mistake on the test. She is very clear. And she spends time with you so you get it. Her book is really interesting too. She is an excellent teacher.
She is the best teacher I had. I took her for Math 3, 7B, and 5A. She is clear. And seriously, if anyone speaks bad about her, it's because they were caught cheating. She is a great teacher who cares about her students.
She is not hard. We needed to do a lot of practices and group works. She gave not too much homework but try to finish it before the test. Her tests was a little bit hard; however, she will give us a chance to work on it again to add more point on your previous tests. Don't stop half way in her class, you will feel surprised at the end :)))
Hands down. The best teacher I ever had.
Her class is really interesting and fun. She makes math easy to understand. She takes extra time to helps us on campus before and after of class. Take her class. She is a great teacher.
She's pretty good! First math teacher I've had in a while and I was somewhat expecting a rocky start. She gives a LOT of extra credit so if u get decent grades on the tests, ur extra credit will bump up those almost A's. study the chapters she lectured on because sometimes the book will go into better detail. She does a study group before final.
She's nice but not a good math teacher. Take her if you want an easy class with little homework, don't take her if you actually want to learn math. We took an assessment at the end of the semester and most of it was stuff we didn't cover or was crammed in by a sub, seriously questioning if I learned enough to move on to math analysis.
She is very nice and friendly and makes everything very clear. In class I understand everything - while doing the homework as well. There isn't a lot of homework and she checks it very loosely. But when it comes to the tests...they always seem 100x harder than the sample questions and homework!!!
The teacher really goes out of her way to help you learn the foundations of math. So much extra credit. Teaches straight from the txtbook, gives a lot of sample questions for the test. Study the notes she gives you during lecture, not from the book if you'd like to ace the tests she gives. They're simpler but cover a lot of ground. Easy A!
She really gives you a good foundation to move on to a higher level of math. 4 tests with lowest score dropped. A few quizzes. 4 submissions of hw with the tests. Pretty easy not a lot of homework. A reasonable amount. She makes sure you understand. Extra credit opportunities but at the end of the class I realized we didn't cover a lot.
Lepoint spends more time telling you how cool her life is and how you should really read the stories in her book (which, by the way, gives you test extra credit). She'll sell you tutoring time before helping you learn math.
He is the best math teacher I ever had. Seriously. Classes love her, because she cares.
OBVIOUSLY those people who wrote negative comments about her failed the class not because of her but because of laziness and ignorance. Seriously if you want an A she is the professor for you. She explains problems step by step and will answer all the questions you have. She even came up with a dance to help us remember how to multiply matrices. Not sold yet? We had a potluck after our final. I learned a lot and had fun in the process. Yes math is FUN.
Yes, she does advertise herself a lot, but she makes math really easy and doesn't leave anybody behind. If you're really good at math you might feel bored but she's really patient for those that tend to have a hard time learning and really cares about students.
She is a great teacher. She likes to bring in her real life experience into the topic she is going to teach. Very easy test but a lot of showing your work. Extremely friendly, has patience, and will not hesitate in explaining the problem again if not understood the first time. Her jokes are funny. Great teacher would take again.
This class was a joke. Took the 7AM class and she was late to class at least 15-30 minutes EVERYDAY - Not even exaggerating. She does not cover everything in the notes and makes a LOT of careless mistakes, saying she didn't drink enough water or get enough sleep. Everyday. Tests had questions that we did not even cover in class. She loves herself.
Great professor. Helps students. Gives a lot of examples. Lots of extra credit. A lot of note taking. She breaks it down for you and makes math simple and enjoyable. Very encouraging lady.
Took this class during spring & she's just all over the place. She's always running late, cancels classes. Made us buy her book which we never used! If math isn't your best subject don't take her. She's not patient forgets the homework she assigns & never goes over it. She spends more time talking about her books, & her life than actual math!
She goes off on a tangent about things that aren't related to math. If you really want to learn something DO NOT take her. She will make you hate math. You'll be wondering why you even took this class in the first place.
She doesn't review. Gives random extra credit assignments that always involve you reading her articles or watching her TED talks. Assigns a lot of homework that she will never go over. One time in class she spent 30 minutes asking the class to help her pick out her new book cover! When she feels tired she'll just assign group work.
She was great ! She always gave her students a chance to improve their grades by allowing you to correct your mistakes in test. Gave out extra credit and it was helpful. She allowed notes on the final. Shes very kind and understanding. If she thought 131 I would take her again unfortunately she doesn't.
I took her a couple of semesters ago. Professor Lepoint is a good way to go if you really want to do well in math ! she cares and will help put in the effort to help you learn. Put in the work and do all the assignments. I don't think you can fail if you take the class seriously and really try. I would take her again if i could
Prof. LePoint is hands down the greatest math professor I have ever had! She is the type of person who actually wants to see her students succeed in life (not just in her class) she always gives students extra practice problems for exams, which is very helpful. She notices when students put in extra effort. I highly recommend her for 7A.
She's supportive if you're having a hard time outside of class. Yet, the negatives here are true. She is very egocentric and disorganized. I'm not exaggerating, I learned more about her than math. Her tests are difficult and the homework doesn't prepare you. She is known to get a lot of complaints on campus. Strong in math, go ahead. If not, beware
You know those people who sound great on paper, because they have written books and won awards but then you meet them and your shocked at how incompetent they are in the flesh. Yup thats Olympia. She thinks she's so fantastic but in reality she's a disorganized teacher who made students purchase her 30 dollar book which we have not used once.
This professor .... Is ... TERRRIBLEEE don't take her I got an A in her class only because I studied all by myself every single day . She does not teach AT ALL If she's "tired" she'll give group work and waste your time . She talks about herself all the time and it's quite annoying because she'll take up class time.
Took during the summer. Lectures were very clear and thoroughly explained. Did not overload us with material or work. Gave a very manageable amount of homework problems(6-10 max) with in-class group work each meeting. 4 exams + final and drops lowest test. Grading was lenient. Complete and study homework and classwork and you will do well. 88% A
Great professor! She makes sure that you understand what she is teaching in class. Many extra credits available (it takes a long time to finish). She has an interesting life by the way! Very inspirational. Nice professors! Unlike those who always have that "look" on their face. She always smiles. Don't you feel better having a smiley professor?
I have taken her for 2 semesters now. 125 and 131. Yes, she is disorganized but who cares? We are just there to learn, get the knowledge and grade, right? I personally do not think that classwork is helpful, but questions she makes up in class while taking notes are extremely helpful! Memorize how you do those questions then you'll do well!
simply... she's great :) hahaha
She is really the best math professor I ever had. She is respected, caring, understanding and great. You don't want missing her classes. Seriously, everyone in class love her, because she is amazing. She gives you extra credit, and Buying her book is optional. Unfortunately she didn't teach Math 125, if she did, I would take her class again.
Honestly the best math teacher in PCC. I didn't do most of the homework and still got a high B. Take her!!!
I took her class for Math 7A. Her lectures are clear and you can tell she cares for her students. We also did group work, so the class wasn't boring. She'll go over everything you need to know before an exam. The questions are either very similar or the exact same. Highly recommend
She knows her material but is SO unorganized. Never followed the syllabus. She often forgot to teach some material that appeared on the test, and wastes a lot of class time doing useless things. She is also lazy. However, she offered a lot of extra credit. Barely any homework (most of it done in class), and she's nice.
This professor was very patient with the class, and she took her time to help those that needed it. She would often tell stories in about 15 min so that our brains could absorb and fortify what we had learned. She had many jobs, but took the path towards teaching because she was passionate about it. Definitely take this class; rewarding experience
She's a very good person. She likes to teach you math is life, listen to her lecture and you'll become a better person.
If you have always struggled with math, do not take her. She writes definitions on the board and goes through problems assuming that you know whats going on. She was unorganized and would not give back tests until the next test was going to be taken. However, she did give out study guides before each exam and gave a lot of extra credit.
She's a really nice person and does care about students. Unfortunately, every single negative review on here is true (read them... I'm not kidding they are 100% true). If you are in a math heavy major and are trying to learn and understand the subject do yourself a favor and take someone else's class.
As a professor, she is utterly terrible. Always late, lazy, and incompetent. She will talk about herself and her "books" more than she will the subject material. Calls herself a celebrity. Did not teach all the material needed to go to the next course and now I am seriously behind. This class was a waste of time.
Took her in the summer and she lectured shortly and did just the easy problems to show us and assigned us to do in class hw that was very challenging. A good thing about her is that she assigns practice tests that are similar to the actual tests, but adds on a question not on the pre-test Overall, eh, but I still got an A because of xtra credit.
She's a great professor, one of the nicest I've ever had. She has passion for the subject she teaches and cares deeply for her students. Gives study guides that are exactly like her exams and is a generous grader. She leaves time to do homework in class so I rarely had any to do outside of it. Lots of extra credit and will allow you to make a test
she is amazing ,so nice, and really care and good teaching, I really love her teaching, class group exercise, she gives a lot of extra credit and generally I recommend this professor.
Professor LePoint has a good heart. She is a kind person and gives A LOT of extra credit. I only passed because of the extra credit. She is always late to class, and doesnt know how to teach. She was shocked when our whole class failed a test, even though she doesnt teach! She is a nice person, but if youre bad at math, avoid taking her class.
She wants everyone to do good. There is class work everyday and explains using real life scenarios. She also offers extra credit and if you take advantage it will help your grade. I took her for math 131 and 7A and passed both classes with good grades.
She is nice to everyone. Lots of extra credits and simple test before the test.
She is a very nice person. That does not make her a good math professor. She's horrible. Read every negative review. This class is a waste of time and you will not even learn basic concepts.
JUST. DONT.
Putting effort into her teaching is clearly not high on Professor Lepoint's priority list. She is incredibly disorganized, she is obsessed with talking about herself and her youtube "TV show", she doesn't come to class prepared, doesn't own the textbook/ a calculator, constantly makes mistakes, is late... if you care about learning, don't take her.
Professor Lepoint is very passionate about calculus and very much enjoys teaching. Shes very kind and helps you understand calculus as simple as possible. Her study guides are almost exactly like the exams, she gives extra credit and also drops one exam. If you want an easy A Id take her. Only downside is she doesnt post grades.
I took her class because she is easy and I got an A but I didnt really learn much and couldnt pass my 5B class. I wouldnt take her if you have to go on in math.
Not sure about the negative reviews. She is a very good professor, I understood calculus and I never thought I would say that. Your attitude and mindset will determine what you learn, she gives the tools you need to be able to use them. Tests are just like the study guides she gives, do the homework you will be fine!
This professor showed up for class very sporadically and I passed with an A but I really didn't learn anything the extra credit at the end of the semester was also basically free polling for her webcast that she does.
I would recommend Professor Lepoint. Started class on campus then due to Covid went Remote. She is passionate about what she teaches. Shes thorough & is open to any questions/concerns. I took STATS 050 w/her & her instruction helped me understand A majority & when it didnt her slides reflected the teaching so it helped alot . She is also caring.
She is a caring person but not a good professor. She came to class unprepared and made slides during lecture, not before lecture. We spent most time waiting for her drawing and talking about unrelated stuff like her Youtube and Blog. See every negative review and compare the number of thumbups. Don't take her if you are math major.
She doesn't check her email and comes late for her class often. All students were waiting for her outside. She even doesn't focus on teaching and spent time talking about other things.
I took her stats class this semester and had a pretty horrible time. She doesnt respond to emails at all, is late to every class and spends a lot of the time talking about her website/non-math related things. Would definitely not recommend for anyone going into math as their major.
Prof. Lepoint is very caring towards her students, although she is very organized when it comes to class time. There are a mandatory textbook and her custom notes requirements but we don't touch it at all. Very slow-paced teacher, but she gives out sample tests. The class was taught online and is recorded but she doesn't post the recordings.
Took Calculus in summer '19, the C I got actually brought my gpa down but I liked Lepoint's teaching. She went over little details that other professors would assume you already know and skip. I learned calculus Im just not a good test taker, her lectures are good too, she connects everything to math. The practice exams were similar to real exams.
Take her if you struggle w math/want credit! Online class was very easy and the slides she uses is basically what's on her tests so show up. She gives sample tests which is basically what's on the actual test. Unlimited attempts for each exam!! Final was questions from previous exams. Idk why she has negative reviews haha, it would be hard to fail
She is by far the best professor I ever had in PCC. Her exams are similar to the practice exams she sent out. She is very straight forward and very understanding. An easy A class if you study from the practice exams.
I took Prof Lepoint's Stats 050 class during Winter Session which is super intense and she made it fun & even though the pace was aggressive I was able to manage the workload. Lots of group work so we could help/teach each other very fun. The neg reviews are bizarre - who cares if a 5 hour class starts 15 minutes late? I highly rec!
She cares about her students understanding the work. I loved her because stats/math doesn't come easy to me, but she made it easy to understand. The people who gave her a low mark shouldn't be trusted. She's it and I highly recommend her
Professor Lepoint is the sweetest. She cares about her students by always asking how we're doing. She gives sample test out & they're exactly like the test, just study it. Sometimes she's late to the class, but it honestly doesn't matter because we still cover everything. If you have trouble with math, TAKE HER! She will help you understand better
Professor LePoint is a very kind individual, shes very passionate about her job and loves relating her job to her lessons. She was one of the nicest Professors Ive had!
Olympia is one of the best professors I ever had in PCC. I learn a lot about STATS from her. Her classes are straightforward and easy. Exams are only from the practice exams. A true gem of PCC.
She's the one writing these positive reviews. Heavy heavy majors run far and fast in the opposite direction. Yeah, it's an easy A. You won't learn a single thing. Look at the negative reviews they are 100% accurate.
Professor Lepoint needs to follow her own advise she talks about and use it to focus on her own teaching
