Easy teacher, creates a nice environment for a speech class, and still a great professor. He will make you a better speaker. The quizzes and final are easy because they are simple multiple choice. You have the option of what you want to talk about for each speech (personal story, informative, persuasive, and sales) except the improptu speech.

I definitely agree with the previous post... he is condescending and treats many a student as if they're beneath him. He seems to prefer his students to pick pedestrian topics and his grading seemed to be dependent upon whether he likes you as a person or not. I got an A in the class but this teacher is not someone I would recommend.

Sami was one of the absolute best teachers I had while at City College. The outlines that he gave were daunting at first but I still use them when I have to write papers or give a presentation at work! He is there for his students, and i think he only pushes us because he wants us to reach our highest potential. He changed my academic life.

I really enjoyed the speech class. It's helpful for my career as it gives me a generic way to organize speech and presentation. It's not hard to get a good grade as long as you do your work.

This is a class that's fun yet very worthwhile. Prof Kudsi has a great sense of humor and is an engaging speaker. He introduces many interesting ideas/ theories regarding communication which makes for lots of lively clasroom discussion. Although I have speaking experience, I still get nervous. He creates a supportive & encouraging environment.

Sami is a pretty good teacher. the speeches were pretty goood, fun and there was help if you needed it. I hated his quizzes and the final. they were based mostly on the book and the questions were on the most insignificant piece of information, never based on concepts or understanding. other than that it was very good stuff to learn.

best part was listening to peoples speeches. Very helpful teacher, although we had to learn about different theories about speaking from a book that was boring..You get tested on the info in the book, other than that he is cool. Decent grader and cool guy

extremely nice and helpful to students. i had him for speech and it was easier and way more relaxing than i thought it to be. quizzes are fairly easy - he goes over most of the material in class and all you really need to know is the keywords to each chapter. pretty easy grader. he just wants you to do well and it shows.

outlines seemed intimidatin at first becauce he hands out thick packets. but COME ON think about it...he handed us basically the whole format! so helpfuL! he gives out great packets of information when helping to do our outlines! love him!

This guy is to teaching Speech what Michael Jordan is to basketball. He is truly awesome in every way. I loved all the pop culture references and quirky jokes. The grading system was fair and easy to understand. Most importantly I really learned something that will be useful throughout my years. He is very open to letting us pick topics we want.

Sami is both humorous & witty. V helpful to students. Clear instructions & gives out sample spch outlines which serve as perfect templates. Tests are MCQ and straight fwd. Class supports computer & powerpoint for presentation. V useful class & great professor. Got an A in the class, would recommend all to take it!

I had the pleasure this semester of taking Mr. Kudis's on-line Speech 1A course. Basically you do everything on-line, except for the speeches which you come in and deliver. It was an excellent class made all the better by this first class professor. I enjoyed every moment of it. In terms of the on-line aspect of the class he was very competent

Take him.He is a great teacher in the whole semester you do about 5 speeches and outlines and like 7 quizzes if you read and study the terms you should do good but requarless even if you don't do so good on them he has oppurtunities for extra credit.

Sami is a funny teacher. He makes great jokes. This is not difficult class but presentations/speeches can bring a great amount of anxiety.No mid term, 3 formal speeches plus 2 speeches that don't require outlines and, prep, 6 quizzes

Prof. Kudsi is a dope professor at city. He makes Public speaking highly interesting and creates an atmosphere where everyone can succeed. Your grade is pretty much based on you completing the work in the class and quizzes based on the book. Also, he is very lenient and doesn't grade that hard on speeches.

Kudsi is a great professor to take if you want to take a pain-free speech class. Take his online class! All work is online & open book. You come in for speeches 5x/semester, but it's nothing to worry about. He grades fairly but easily. Sessions are relaxed and fun. You can find the book pdf online for free! This class is as good as it gets.

Omar Kudsi & Sami are the same guy! He goes by "Sami" in class, though. He's awesome! I got a solid A in Speech 1A & this guy took the fear out of public speaking for most of us. You will get a tremendous confidence boost via Sami's class. Even the foreign students with poor English did well. Take Sami for all of your Speech needs. ;)

Sami is one of the BEST teachers on campus. He has a lot of dedication to his students, and while his speech class does have some busy work, he's tries to keep it interesting and organized for you. Mr. Kudsi is a very nice teacher and if you have a heavy schedule than take his online Spch 20 class. His grading on the speeches are very good for the student and makes you feel VERY comfortable to give a speech. Weekly quizzes online and directly from the book. Only thing I didnt like was all the journal writing that was due at every meeting.

Online class requires 5 in-class meetings to give speeches. Sami Kudsi and class are very mellow and there's acomfortable atmosphere. Textbook is very good and quizzed every week, + some journal writing. Speeches are graded leniently. Speeches are good practice and a tool to gain confidence. I wasn't afraid of speaking publicly after this class!

Quiz 6 should be the final for this type of class. A final cumulative of every thing we read, places to much stress on students for a class of this nature. Its over kill. Great teacher.

Sami Kudsi still cares tons about his students. The workload was heavy but not very complicated. The quizzes are challenging - you really have to read AND study the book. He responds to email quickly and clearly. He offers extra credit. The speeches and other assignments are very relevant and interesting. I learned much from this man.

I attended 10 colleges: he is of the best profs anywhere! He still cares and has enthusiasm. Despite lecture material being online he created a true community. Lots of work but it was easy and interesting and informative. Only complaint:speeches with lots of prep and effort get 98 and awful speeches with no practice get 87 so why go the extra mile?

The greatest guy you'll ever have as a professor at CCSF. His classes are so much fun and he is the most helpful and patient teacher that I ever had or will have. You will learn but you will have so much that you may not think you are.

I took the hybrid online/plus 5 mandatory in class meetings to make the speeches. His class was sooo easy. His grading on speeches/presentations are super easy even if you are shaking in your pants. you will do well As long as you log online to do all weekly assingments, you will do well. TAKE HIM FOR SPEECH 20! Other than doing a quiz and journal per week, you just need to attend and deliver five mandatory on-campus speeches. I used to be terrified of public speaking, but taking this class made get over my fear! You learn a lot from this class and it changes how you communicate with others. I barely used the book and I got an A.

Very chill teacher. In 1A he leads by example. You can give a terrible speech, but if your in the "time zone," and cover the "objectives" of the speech you can get nearly a 100rd on every speech. He does not mark down for being a bad speaker in 1A.

Very flexible guy! Took his online course. You only meet once a month depending on your session. Quizzes, tests, forum posts, comments are all online. Book is also required if you want to do extra credits. He let you choose any topic based on narrative,informative,commemorative,persuasive any time of the year. Take him! You won't be disappointed!

I had a great time taking Speech 1A with Professor Kudsi. He got everyone talking and participating, which made the time go by quickly. The class was neither too hard nor too easy. The book was very helpful. Some of the pop culture references were too obscure, but the hilarious jokes made up for it. The high point for me persuasion.

Professor; Kudsi is a very fair person, he treats everyone equally and will help you when you need it. He also motivates you to do better ever time you have to do a speech in front of class. I would highly recommend this class to others, I had a great learning experience.

I've hated speaking in front of a class all my life, but Sammie (Omar) made the class very relaxed and easy-going. Very positive guy, easy quizzes (5), 2 group speeches, 1 individual speech about a group experience in your life. Seriously the most genuine professor I've had at CCSF. He is genuinely kind and supportive for his students. He always comes to class with a smile on his face. The class was also not hard at all as long as you do the assignments.

You need to be ready to speak in class regularly. It is really interesting to hear everyone's personal storiesspeeches. You also have to take multiple choice tests on the book, but they aren't too hard. You write short online reflections (like Facebook posts) and respond to classmates every of days.

His SPCH 20 hybrid class is hands down the easiest class I've taken in my two years at CCSF. The online workload is light, but his online format for the course is very disorganized and lots of info is outdated.

I took the hybrid online course, with 5 face-to-face meetings. Definitely the better route for these speech classes, one meeting per month vs 3 per week. Funny guy, easy grader. Just make sure to do the online assignments on time, and show up for the actual meeting on time. Don't leave early, even after your speech, you can lose points.

I have to say this is by far one of the best classes I've taken. I took the class as the hybrid online / 5 meeting class. It was great. The online work is easy but very engaging and allows you to think critically and reflect on life. Overall, the class was easy but also allowed some challenges that are enjoyable. I felt attached to my classmates even though we only met in-person 5 times; in one semester you'll watch 15-20 people develop great public speaking skills. Professor Kudsi makes giving a speech easy. He isn't judgmental so you wont feel nervous going up. He is very encouraging and understanding. He provides help. There are a few quizzes but the study guides help a lot. Quizzes of material in book. Very nice professor wants you to learn.

Taking his Interpersonal Communication class was a blast and I never had problems with the content. It was a "hybrid" class meaning both online and a total of 5 in-class meetings. Online, you have your usual weekly quizzes regarding the content of the textbook. The in-class meetings were meant for speeches and for a quick check in with the class.

At first I thought speech was hard, but taking him made life less difficult. He made public peak feel like a breeze. We were able to motivate ourself to be better speakers. Love his class. Sammy is responsive, clear with his directions, and answers questions thoroughly. If you need a public speaking class, this is probably your best choice. The online course is homework heavy, which means that if you miss a few things, you can make up elsewhere. If you don't make an A in this class, you probably didn't try.

I took the hybrid class during the summer and it was great! Teacher understands that public speaking is a common fear and is lenient on grading. Coursework consists of doing weekly reading, answering discussion posts, and online quiz. There was also a weekly in-person speech to give on different topics (most of ur grade is on this). Easy, great!

Omar(Sami as he prefers to be called) is an amazing professor. Took his Intro to Public Speaking course over the summer and I would highly recommend enrolling in this class during summer. Sami is a great professor! He divides class time with a short lecture and small group time for group projects. His lectures are not super heavy but it's clear and visually fun! I personally do not do public speaking well and this class helped me improve on my weaknesses. Attendance is mandatory, cannot be late to class. He's super caring & helpful!

This online class is actually a hybrid class because you still have to show up to give your speeches. I have to say that Prof Kudsi is awesome. He gives good feedback and has a positive disposition which makes it a bit easier to stand in front of a class to give a speech. I recommend everyone to take his class!

Professor Kudsi is approachable and supportive. His grading criteria was clear, not a lot of homework. There were 3 speeches (2 group speeches), 1 midterm and 1 final. Definitely take his class, it was meaningful and worth the effort. Make it a good experience! I passed with an A, just do the work and show up for the speeches.

His teaching style is fun and the material is relatable! He makes the class fun. Easy class if you are on top of your assignments. 5 quizzes that are a breeze even if you study right before, 2 papers that are easy if you read the text book, 2 movie reflections and 2 group speeches that are easy if your group works well together! Weekly quizzes. Grades group by solo work so you never have to worry about your group messing up. Goes over assignments due the following month every class until its due. That kind of wastes time? Lectures are not dry. The group projects have Q and A after which get really interesting or heated haha. Do the work, participate and you'll pass.

I expected this class to be the most difficult this semester because I AM NOT A PUBLIC SPEAKER. Kudski made it so much easier first off he gives examples of his own experiences, he's down to earth & a Tupac fan! You upload videos of your own speeches and review your peers way better than an in person class I felt I interacted way more than a f2f

He definitely loads the work for the week, with multiple quizzes and always one speech. If you hit the time limit and your outline has the correct amount of sources, you should get 100%. While it was a good amount of work, it was never too difficult. He seems chill and would highly recommend him for an easy class.

By far one of the best instructors I have had in my 2 years at CCSF. I get nervous when it comes to public speaking, but Prof. Kudsi managed to make the class a whole lot of fun. Very manageable workload, clear and honest feedback, and a few extra credit opportunities to boot. Awesome class overall!

I took Sami for Communication 1A for the Summer. 3 modules a week and along with 3 quizzes. Quizzes are based on the textbook (Yes, it's required and needed). 3 out of 5 speeches will need an outline. There are videos from him as well on YouTube. Overall, the experience was good since I learned creating speech wasn't easy, however it was intriguing

Took him this past semester via online. He adds a lot of good and yet very helpful feedback. Along with making it real clear and entertaining. I highly recommend to any com majors , those that need it for prerequisite ( like myself ) haa, or even just overall overall self enrichment.

Professor Kudsi is one of the best professors I've taken here at City College. English is my second language so I was very nervous about the course, but it ended up being so much more enjoyable. Amazing teacher! Gets the point across without assigning busy work. Easy to get ahold of through email, and there are easy extra credit opportunities. The weekly assignments can usually be completed in an hour, and they are pretty easy if you have access to the textbook definitely recommend!

Professor Kudsi's Communication Studies 1A class is really enjoyable and fun! While I took it online, it's important to note that he has perfected the art of module making in Canvas. Unlike other teachers who have poorly migrated from the classroom to Canvas, Professor Kudsi has it down to a T.

Great teacher! Lectures are informative and the teacher does a great job of connecting terms we are studying to the real world. He gives time for students to give their opinions in class and cares about what they say. Class grading is composed of 3 speeches and a few discussion posts and quizzes throughout the semester.

Read a chapter on public speaking every week and take a quiz on it. There are also weekly discussions where you get to chat with your classmates. Assignments are simple and straightforward. Speeches require an outline so just follow the instructions and you'll do fine. Extra credit is offered!

Took the speedy online course (8 weeks). Lightning fast and lots of work loads (quizzes, discussions & 5 speeches. 3 of speeches needed preliminary outline & research). Took me about 8 hours work/week to read, write, practice speech test & record. Plenty of extra credits & easy grader. Bright personality. Thank you professor Kudsi!

Loved every part of this class and wish I could take it again for fun. Surprisingly, I learned a lot on how to give speeches. In order to get a good grade, make sure to do all of the homework assignments (speeches, weekly discussions, etc.) and you'll do just fine in this class. Plus, there's even extra credit! Honestly one of the best professors!!

"Sami" Kudsi is a chill instructor in a speedy Summer session. 5 speeches total, outlines for the last 3 speeches (informative, persuasive, commemorative). Four online quizzes and a study guide is given for each and it is open book. There will be a "panel" with two classmates complementing you and two others will question you. Reflection final.

Favorite class of the semester! Professor Kudsi is very engaging with his classes and keeps everyone open-minded. Public speaking is always challenging, yet he finds a way to connect with students' fears which puts them at ease. The assignments were not difficult as long as you stay on top of the work, and he is flexible with speech scheduling.

Show up and get through the speeches showing some attempt to follow the outline, do the few homework assignments (easy), and you'll be fine.

I had to take for transfer credit and was dreading it but it turned out to be my favorite class this semester. It was only 1/2 a semester long, & the grades consisted from the outlines, the speeches & discussion forums, which were easy and fun to do. I would def take his class again and totally recommend it if you need public speaking credit!

CMST20: Professor Sami's Interpersonal Communications course is super informative for understanding how people interact, for an objective view on what motivates influence structures, and for demystifying conflict. I learned so much about my classmates - and myself - from the discussions and speeches.

Professor Kudsi was very attentive. I was so nervous for speech class and he truly makes you comfortable and at ease! Don't overthink it and you will do just fine!

Great professor, nothing bad to say about him. Laughed a lot in his class, but also learned some philosophical things. One minute he says something funny and a couple minutes later he's saying something in a perspective I've never thought about.

Sami is a cool guy. The 1a class is going to be about as fun as you make it. The more effort you put in the more fun you will have. A lot of my classmates gave very low effort speeches which were boring, but I am positive they are all passing with A's. The only points I have lost are from going over the time limit in my speech. 10/10 prof 4/10 kids

One of my favorite classes at CCSF, Professor Sammy really helped me get used to speaking in front of an audience. He also gives free rein on topic ideas which is another huge plus. I will say, he's almost too chill with his syllabus policies and grading, but on the flip side it could be an easy A for others. He's just an awesome person in general!

I went into this course a little worried about the load of work but Professor Kudsi was very organized week per week. Clear instructions, fair grader, and extra credit options are given. There is no way one could not pass without an A, just do the work per week and you're good! I wish he taught my science courses too lol.

Fun course. I was nervous about it at the beginning but as the course went on, the instructor help made it more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this course to anyone trying to improve their public speaking skills.

this professor is an awesome person. very easy going, good person to have a good conversation with.. class wise his class very easy going. good way to learn about other people and other peoples perspective on things and life in gerneral. i give this teacher a ten out of ten.

Professor, Kudsi has been a motivational part of my education. His laid back style made it easier for me to flower on my own in regards to speeches.

Professor Sami Kudsi is the best easy going, very helpful, he wants everyone to succeed. Available to answer question and gives the best feed back, also makes communication extra fun. Easy A if you show up to class do all your homework participate and completed all your speeches and quizzes.

Grade is mostly on 4 speeches and then a few quizzes on lecture material. Textbooks are free. The class is not difficult, and you can choose your own essay topic and presentation date. This can help you improve your public speaking skills massively if you put in the effort.

Professor Kudsi was motivating and encouraging, especially when before we were about to deliver our speeches. I appreciate the very good feedback and continuous encouragement to do better.

He makes class very enjoyable by making you interact with the rest of your classmates. 4 quizes total, very easy no need to study. 4 speeches total, follow the guidelines and put some effort, easy A. He is always smiling and his humor is great, super approachable. No homework. Whoever said Jack Black below, totally correct. very easygoing class

honestly the most genuine and funny person I have ever met. It was an honor getting to be in his class and getting to know him as a person. There are 4 speeches and after each speech, there is a q&a with the class. With these q&a's i felt I was able to bond with the whole class and coming to class felt more natural because of the environment.

Professor Kudsi is very caring, supportive, and patient. He understands that public speaking can be scary and creates a safe space for students. He gives second chances and helps you grow. I'm so grateful for his class—highly recommend taking him if you want to build confidence!

Took him during the Summer and I thought it was going to be hard since taking Summer classes go in a much faster pace and it was my first Summer class but we only had to do 4 speeches, 1 every week and after every speech there was a Q&A while the rest of the week was hearing other people speaking. Pretty easy. Professor was not hard or strict
