Prof. Torres is a great lecturer with lots of energy. His tests are hard, and he sometimes goes fast, but he is very knowledgeable and will take time to help you outside of class. If you're willing to work, then take this class!

Explains things well, but his tests are pretty tough. Gives extra help, workshops, and very helpful courseguide. One of the most organized profs. in chemistry!

Prof Torres is a great teacher. He gives you all the notes ahead of time, so you always know what you are suppost to study. He is very funny, and makes class fun. He goes kinda fast, but he makes does lots of examples, which helps to understand. A great teacher to take!!

This is one of the best professors I have had. Took 1A with Choi, and Torres is light years better. Has a very helpful courseguide with old exams and notes typed out. He is a must for a class of this caliber!

You wont find a better professor anywhere. He's funny, hyper, and always keeps the class interesting. Dont miss a class or you will be lost. You do have to work harder than other classes but it IS a five unit class. I would recommend him to anybody.

Wow! One great professor. Excellent lectures & his published course guide is amazing. He was like an older party-crazed brother that looked out for us. Although he is a tough professor, he makes the class very exciting. You WILL come out of that class knowing your Chemistry. Torres was one of the best professors I have had. Our class was a family!!

Torres is a Chem nazi! With that said, he is a great teacher. Tough, but real chill. I took it in the summer though, so it was extra hard for me. Tests and quizes are hard, but he gives extra credit. He was very helpful during office hours, so ask questions. Study hard and you should do fine.

had this class over the summer, and yes it was tough. however, Torres maintained my interest. great lecture style, thorough, and tests are representative of material covered. it helps to work old exams, although he does change the questions to keep it fresh. Chill prof! Not sure about the previous sex comment, although he does keep it real.

He subbed for our horrible Chem 12 teacher. He was really good, terribly hot, and makes are the girls way intersted in Chem. He has a good list of credentials behind him, and after one night with him we were so angry to have our old teacher back because we knew what a real Chem teacher was!! Definitley want his class!!

Hmmm, makes you wonder when you can't even spell the prof's name. Torres is great. Yes, his class is hard and so are the tests. He is great in lecture, keeps it entertaining, and you learn quite a bit. Highly recommended whether your hot or not...don't know what that's about!

The examples and comments of his are hilarous and surprisingly work vey well. Torres will keep the class fun although the material covered can be challenging. Take this teacher although you'll be in for a bumpy ride.

This guy is amazing; keeps it real and at the same time challenging. I had to work my ass off in this class, but honestly, it's worth it in the end. Highly recommend him only if you're willing to put in the work. You'll learn quite a bit and have fun doing it too!

Omar is the****! He's the coolest professor you'll ever meet in your life. He's like 25 or something he's basically just another student. The class has a really fun atmosphere. Unfortunately, the only thing that's more mind-blowingly difficult than this class is his tests. Good God, I didn't know what the hell was going on. I dropped.

what a hard class! his quizzes consist of the hardest problems! BUT, he makes you study and learn the subject well, and he tries not to make the class boring. im definately taking him for Chem1B. be prepared to LEARN and STUDY your butts off. Torres forces you to learn because his quizzes are way hard! he's still peppy at 7:30am!!

Torres lectures are awesome, he really clarifies everything, and gives great notes. His tests are hard, but if you study, you do good, and if you go to him for help, he is really fair. He is a fun teacher who is good at keeping you interested, and he's only 30! It also helps that he is HOT.

probably one of the hardest classes- he expects you to know everything from his course guide. but he is seriously one of the nicest profs you will ever have- hes very clear and always willing to help out when you are confused. dont take him for an easy grade- take someone like berg instead. take him if you really want to know what youre doing.

If you are curious as to whether you can hack it in a university this is the class for you. It is taught at a higher level then most jc classes. NOT AN EASY CLASS. If you study extremly hard and keep up with the material a B is probable. Slackers will not pass this class.DONT TRY. you will pass if you've already taken chemisty otherwise good luck!!

Had both semesters of this class with Torres. Honestly, he is the best prof I have had at MC. True, he does challenge you to the next level, but after two semesters of this, I realize I am capable of more than I ever thought. Definitely suggest taking him if you r willing to work. He is the best. For any slackers, take someone else!

He is the best chemistry teacher there is at moorpark. He does teach in a very strict manner, and does challenge his students, but thats very good for students that will be preparing for the MCATs and such. Overall, hes a VERY good teacher!!

Prof. torres is an idiot. he thinks hes the shiznit. chem 1b is based on a lot of algebra with fairly easy concepts. the previous commenter has to bear in mind that the mcats test on concepts not on math skills. torres teachs fairly well granted, however, his tests incorporate so much usless math that has no bearing on the subject matter at all.

He's so egotistical... granted that he has the right to be.. but that's not the point of the class.. to be like my students said this and this...ok. well that's the only bad quality i can think of. so be prepared for his ego. Oh yes, and do not wait until the night before to study for a quiz(terribleidea).

tough class, but keeps it very interesting and entertaining. does move quickly, but you really walk out of class understanding the subject matter. definitely worth taking.

He is an awesome teacher. It is a really hard class. He grades tests/quizzes/labs pretty hard. But in reality you have no excuse not to pass them. He will always answer questions for you, no matter how dumb. He will ridicule you at times, but its all in good fun. Take him if you have the chance

If you want to learn CHEM 01A the hard yet fulfilling way, take Prof. Torres.His tests & exams are hard but you'll get them take his advice:"Step it up! Do the past exams & understand the matter." He does not mark off points from you if your answer is not the same workding as his as long as you understand what the matter is and able to write it.

He is a wonderful teacher and has a great understanding of the material. The subject is difficult and can be a bit confusing, but he is always willing to help. Exams and quizzes are hard but he makes his past exams available to study from. He likes to challenge his students, but if you are willing to put in the work - you will do well.

Torres is a mixed professor. He's extremely hard, but rewards those who can push their way through; very smart and funny, but also strict and a bit of a jerk in some regards; subject matter is introduced at a very fast pace, yet still (mostly) clear and interesting. Make sure to follow all his instructions and study HARD, and you will learn chem 12

Excellent teacher, A+!!! Very clear and thorough, he knows his stuff. Although hard the class is worth it if you stick it through, you can tell that Mr. Torres really cares about his students succeeding. Study HARD and review past exams, whatever you do don't get behind or you will be sorry!!!

This class is pretty tuff for an intro class but he explains the material very well. The thing is that he dosent like to answer questions,he'll just say "look at the course guide" But other than that he is a great teacher, you have to work really hard to earn a good grade in this class.

Big T is the man! Doesn't go by the textbook, but buying is can be useful since his explanations are very quick, and the course guide doesn't go into too much detail. Go to class or you will die. He dresses sharp for a teacher, real professional. If you slack off in this class big T will devastate your life.

i studied for 7 hours before each exam for this class. he presents the material very well in his lectures, yet his tests have questions that you have never gone over in class. he ruined my GPA and i have to work hard to raise it again. he's always late to office hours and it seems like he wants his students to fail...avoid him to save your GPA

just took this class over the summer. torres gives tough exams, but they are not unreasonable. lectures are really good and somewhat funny at times. keeps you interested. I did have to study alot though. Only take this class if you are serious about learning chemistry. He's worth it if you're willing to work. otherwise take someone easier.

Torres is a GREAT teacher. Too smart to teach here. Tests are REALLY hard, but read the damn book! Started with a B in the class, aced my last two exams, ended with an A after I realized to read the book (not only his course guide, but book!!). He always wears these powder blue v-necks, which get a little weird for everyone that sits in front!!!!!!

Professor Torres is truly an amazing Professor, and you will for sure know what you are doing when you leave this class. I took his class over the summer. it was a pretty quick pace,and the tests and quizzes were difficult. Only take him if you are willing to say goodbye to your social life, and study ALOT. worth it though he really knows his stuff

Extremely hard class. Chem 1B took over my life. Very fast paced during lecture. First couple of quizzes are hard..Puts questions on the quizzes that we havent gone over in lecture but expects you to figure it out by utilizying ALL of your chem 1B AND chem 1A knowledge. Wants his class to do well but challenges them to their limits. Nice guy though

Torres is an excellent professor. He will make you work your ass off but it's so worth it. Chem 11 was the best class I ever took and Torres made it so enjoyable that I want to change my major to Chemistry.

If you are looking for an easy A don't take his class. If you honestly want to learn about science's then take his class. Be warned you have to stay on top of things for his class. But it is possible to get an A. He's a really good teacher and knows what he is talking about.

I had Torres for lecture only, and he knows what he is talking about. The class is very difficult, and Torres himself will tell everyone that, but he explains the material clearly and completely. Study, study, study, and the class won't be a problem.

Just found out my B - hardest B ever in my life so far, but worth it. In reading the comments below, let's face it, the bad students hate him, the good students recognize how truly spectacular this particular professor is. For science majors, you must take this class, and you'll learn so much. If you just want to get by, take someone else.

This class is probably the toughest class that i have EVER taken in my life. He is a good professor but his tests are killer. This class takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Im not so sure im going to pass the class but im sure as hell walking out with a lot of knowledge. He expects a lot almost too much from his "FUTURE NURSES." Cant slack off

Excellent at lecturing, but really hard tests. Pay attention to the detail and his verbal cues and you should be okay if you study hard. Definitely conditions you for future science classes. Hes the one to take if you want to learn and be prepared.

I didn't take him, but he subbed for my class once and it was the only day in the whole class that I ever learned anything. I got an A on the quiz based on what we learned when he taught. He is good

He is a hard teacher but is very clear on what he expects. The test are super hard, so study, don't miss classes, and do all the mock test on his website. Some days you hate him and other days your thankful he is your professor. He is always will to help. I would take him again if I needed another Chem Class.

He will challenge you to the extreme, that is true, but he is knowlegable, helpful, and very organized. Probably the best science teacher I've had, and I've taken various classes already. Most of the bad comments are from petty students that don't want to work. This is college, and not everyone should become a nurse! Deal with it.

Hard exams, but great teacher. Does give extra credit, but mainly at the end of course, so you gotta hang in there. Good course guide of problems. Would suggest a few more practice problems that are difficult to prepare for exams. Energetic and knows his material.

This class requires quite a bit of time, but in the end, it does all come together. Instructor knows his material, tests challenging, but good guy overall and passionate. Not for the weak or unmotivated student. This class is for the focused and driven science student.

MC Students should know what this means: He's the Schaak of chemistry, but young. Totally on top of his subject, ready and able to communicate his material. He makes you work but it's worth it. Finally, ask him questions in his office, he's ready to help. Oh, you also get out of his classes what you put in.

The class is not as difficult as this page suggests. Really, it's more of an algebra class than a chemistry class, very math-intensive. Torres is a passionate teacher who makes the subject approachable. If your math (pretty basic math, to be hoenst) is lacking you will not do well in the class. Otherwise, most of it is relatively easy.

The class moves from beginning to end. He maintains your interest the entire time. Not boring like a lot of other profs where time seems to slow down. Tests are tough, but at least he posts a bunch to look from. Great professor. Recommended, but you gotta work.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! This teacher lectures well, but is an extremely difficult tester, he will give you the hardest possible version of every problem. Very rude, demeaning, and narcissistic. Torres is a good teacher. He knows his stuff. However, when he gives you homework even though its not due, I strongly recommend doing it for the practice. His tests are hard if you dont practice. I had to work hard to pass because of the tests. Overall, he is a great teacher and great for preparing you for the next chem classes to come.

Don't buy the text you just need his book. Torres can rub you the wrong way at first, but he is actually a really good guy. His teaching is very clear and he's totally willing to help. He is full of himself yes, but he has a sense of humor that makes the class not boring. I barely studied and got an A. If this class is too hard for you, you will never survive micro. let alone nursing. make yourself a goal to get an A and you will do it. his tests are tricky but you get like 5 to practive online so ther is no excuse to failing.

He tells you exactly what to expect, provides all his past given exams, is always willing to explain and review in office hours. He knows his stuff & expects a lot, not that they know it all, but that they are putting in the effort to learn. If you don't put in the effort neither will he when you go crying about your grade. I would take him again.

Be Ready to study your but off. Was one of the hardest classes i have ever taken but so rewarding at the end of it all. He is a great teacher really pushes you. He gives tough love but it is so good. The one thing this class teaches is how to work hard and how it feels SO good to get an A on an exam. Torres said this class teaches you discipline and oh was he right. Taking class over the summer, and this professor is great. Lectures extremely well. Wish he taught at UCI. Quizzes are tough, but definitely a solid foundation for future science classes.

If you have NO life there should be no reason why you can't get a B or an A in this class. If you work and are taking 12 or more units be prepared for the biggest challenge of your college career. Probably one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. He's awesome. Just make sure you have the time to dedicate to this class.

Torres is a GREAT teacher, he really knows his stuff about chemistry and is super nice and VERY helpful. All these people are complaining about his class being hard, but it's not if you actually sit down and study! I got an A in his inorganic/organic/biochemistry class and i probably spent 5 hours a week on homework. highly RECOMMENDED!
