horrible. only teacher in the deptmnt who doesnt curve, plus u cant understand her thru her accent.
Horrible!! i think she just wants to get her job done without caring if the students understand. cant understand her half of the time
i dont' kno what she's talking about half the time. very strict and doens't curve.
This woman is one of THE worst instructors of chemistry I have encountered in my life. First of all, she has a strong African accent that makes her difficult to understand. Second, I believe she doesn't curve. She just doesn't care about students.
PLEASE LEARN TO SPEAK ENGLISH OR WE'LL ALL FAIL
I was planning to major in Chemistry. After my first lecture I changed it to English. Ah, at least I now what I am majoring in!
Absolutely horrible. I have never had such a hard time understanding a professor. She teaches the material as if we should know it already. I go to class hoping to understand the lecture and she makes it impossible to follow along...horrible!!!
worst teacher ever.
I have never had this much difficulty in a chem course. Taking this class with professor Sadik is demoralizing and makes me contemplate dropping from pre-med or binghamton all together. I have never felt so much frustration. I hate this class.
She makes the simplest concept impossible to understand. I could learn chemistry from an english prof better than I could her.
This professor make chem impossible. I had a pretty good background in chem coming into this class but the way she teaches i just get totally lost. It's not helped by the fact that she's impossible to understand.
It was almost like this woman was speaking Portuguese. I'm from New York--me no speaky Portuguese. Our class averages on tests were often failing. She grades way too harshly to give everyone a fair opportunity to do well.
She is the worst teacher of my life.
suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
HORRIBLE Teacher. Couldn't teach of her life depended on it. Everyone is failing. Why doesn't SUNY hire better teachers??? If you can AVOID her. Definately one of the worst teachers I have ever had.
She know's what she's talking about, the only problem is that she can't communicate it well in a lecture.
Shes such a bad teacher. Even when shes trying to be fun and funny and interesting, she fails miserably. She tried to make the class fun by trowning candy at people but that just made it really stupid and confusing.
She is definately the worst teacher I ever had in my life. Her tests have absolutely nothing to do with what we are learning in class. You can do all the work and still fail miserably. Avoid at all possible costs. Pre-med is not worth it!
worst prof ever. she cant teach esp lower level classes.
one of worst teachers ive ever had. cant understand wtf she is saying. tests impossible. no point in going to lecture. all you can do is take some adderall, sit down and read the book, and even then ull prob still fail. aweful teacher avvoid her class if you can
No Comments
never went to lecture, but im pulling a solid B+. definitely read teh textbook and do problems she assigns and actually understand the stuff before doing capas. get a tutor and you'll be fine. professor does suck tho
The worst teacher i have ever had. Makes the class impossible and can not understand a word she says. I stopped going to lecture because she makes absolutely no sense. Do not take any of her classes
Goes too fast, hard to understand, seems like she doesn't know what she's talking about sometimes
Really nice lady. She means well, but the material is not always clear during lecture. If you take this class, you should read the textbook before coming to class.
Very nice woman, very approachable...goes a bit fast in lecture, but notes are all posted online so its not a big deal. test questions get a little off topic, but she listens to complaints and tries to improve
If u have her i feel really sorry for u...her tests are nothing like what she does in class.. they're impossible..and lecture is boring as hell theres no point in going becasue u wont understand any...
She should not have put her lecture notes online, because no one goes to class anymore. Her tests are immposible, but she offers a lot of supplemental things to boost your grade. But I would still not recommend her, I learn more from my tutor.
Teacher is brillant, supposedly 4th best chemist in the country...but she can't teach a class for her life. She is nice, moderately funny, but can't answer questions because she is so smart that she can't "dumb down" explanations.
The worst teacher I have ever had. Her tests, notes, labs - everything is completely USELESS. I feel like I've wasted my tuition money, a complete wsate, I haven't learned anything. AVOID her at all costs.
horrible horrible horrible
Knows Chemistry, bad teacher, some typos in notes, explainations of subjects are confusing. You have to try to understand her, and when you do you don't understand what she is talkign about. Tests are off topic and some long questions are confusing. She is helpful and listens to student's feedback.
She is a brillant chemist, but has trouble teaching all she knows. If you have a general history in chemistry, read the text book, go to lecture, and look over your notes, this class is manageable. Make sure to do practice problems. Tests are somewhat unreasonable. Very helpful outside of class.
Sadik is great, if you work!! Just like any other class, if you don't put in the effort....you will not do well!
SADIK ROCKS! ANYONE WHO DOESN'T LIKE HER IS CRAZY! SHE IS VERY FAIR. SHE IS WILLING TO MAKE SUGGESTED CHANGES WHEN THE STUDENTS RESPECTUFLLY APPROACH HER.
This is not high school...Dr. Sadick is probably one of the best teachers u'll ever have on this campus for a science course. If you work smarter, you will surely get a grade that you deserve, especially when a prof like Sadik grades so fair.
She is such a dreadful teacher. Sure, she knows the stuff, but she is completely unable to disseminate information. She is incomprehensible. Anything I learned, I learned from the textbook.
she sucks, the end
She is very good at chemistry, and is very respected in her field. However, she is not an outstanding teacher. She listens to student feedback. Tests are difficult.
She knows a lot about the subject, if only she could explain it. Very bad teacher, however she tries to look good by sometimes curving grades. Her tests are ridiculous at times and fair other times. Learn a lot on your own and you'll be fine.
She is very smart, but a horrible teacher. If you want to do well, study the text. You don't even need to go to class because you won't learn a damn thing because you can't even understand her. If you also don't understand something on your own, and you ask her about it, she tells you that you sh
Bit*h from hell. Period. THE worst teacher I have had in Binhamton. What is WRONG with the administration. You will learn NOTHING.
Dr. Sadik is an EXCELLENT teacher. her exams were decent and she did not make her final worth much more than the midterms. IF YOU FAILED HER CHEM 1 CLASS it is b/c you DID NOT STUDY!!! IF you studied in her class you recieved and A.
Sadik definitely tries to make it interesting and help. I think she is a really nice person she is practical. She is not the best teacher but she defintely isn't the worst you'll come by at binghamton. Especially in the science department!
HARD,So she has a heavy accent but as an added bonus her tests are impossible But dont you worry little buddy you'll make it out alive but not with out your med school dream shattered. What is a perk? I would have to say if you took chemistry for three years you have a fighting chance.
homework assignments, quizzes and labs are easy but tests are completely different from all three of those and are much harder.
tests are hard.. labs r easy.. tries to curve grades but it doesnt help wen grades r sooo low
PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE IF SHE IS TEACHING IT. YOU WILL FIND YOURSELF DISCOURAGED AND FEEL STUPID BECAUSE HER TESTS ARE IMPOSSIBLE AND SHE CANT TEACH FOR HER LIFE! Studying will not pay off in this class. AVOID!!!!!!!!!!
her grading is fine.BUT one thing impresses me greatly is that she said, "the speed of light is 3*10(-8)m/s". that was incredible.
Simply the best!
Prof Sadik is very difficult. Her lectures were pointless to go because you can't understand her and she moves too fast. Her tests were too hard when compared to her lack of teaching skills. Recommend thoroughly reading the text and doing tons of problems to do okay. To survive, get a good tutor.
Sadik really got a bad rap from a lot of people just because they didnt do well in the course. The fact is any chemistry course is going to be hard, its not because of her. She is actually a very good professor. If you are a stupid freshman who doesnt want to work then don't take chemistry.
she doesn't curve, so it makes it impossible to get a very high grade in the class. she got a bad reputation this semester (fall 04), due to her unfainess with regards to grading.
she is simply the best I have ever met in this country, period!!
Horrendous, decides not to curve the class at all which caused 11 A's in the class, hard to understand, pointless lectures
got a B+ in fall of '04, deserved an A like everyone else.
She tried hard to teach the class well, but I felt that at the end of the semester, she gave out unfair grades. But, she's a nice woman.
Dr. Sadik is one of the best teachers I've had in my life. I recieved a C in her class, yet the reason I got such a low score, and the reason everyone who got my grades got low scores, is because I didn't study. STop whining about what you know to be your own fault.
Take intro chem with OA and watch as Nigeria's finest shows you pictures from the textbook...she is wrong to expect students to get anything out of her power point slides... Tests on the minutia of the text...memorize everything in the text and from class and you'll get a B. Gave 11 "A"s to 450 ppl
Away message from OASadik: I am OA at the moment
I ended up with a B+. This class really requires a lot of work. She teaches with powerpoint, which is efficient to me but a lot of ppl just end up cutting class. She isn't clear and tend to ignore student's questions.
Class is good, BUT grading is VERY unfair. WE ALL deserved higher grades. Very un-helpful. I spoke with her many times and it didn't pay off!
Very Unhelpful instructor, fails to teach any basic chemistry principals
SHE SHOULDN'T TEACH INTRO GREAT RESEARCHERS MAKE HORRIBLE PROFESSORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Out of a class of approx. 600 people only 11 got an A or A-. The absolute WORST professor in Binghamton.
my god, closest thing to the devil in binghamton. Cannot properly be described without explitives. Recieved a 1 C and 11 A's thusfar in my undergraduate experience. The C came under Dr.Sadik and her esteemed Chem 107 class. You can study your ass off, every hour of every day, and unless you get lucky, you will not do well. Goodluck.
everything stated about this teacher is correct. I ran thru the gamut of titus, pueschel, starzak, newton, and bane with relative ease. But this one is in a league of her own. Gets joy out of ruining dreams. Be afraid, very afraid if she is your teacher. On second thought, drop the class before enrolling, just turst meon this one
2 years after taking this course and i am still bitter. Infact, im getting angy typing at this moment. Absolutely horrible, especially as an intro teacher. Terrorizes kids with impossible tests and will curve down becasue she feels we didnt try hard even when the average grade is a 41. She should never be allowed to teach again..ever ever ever
Prof. Sadik is not a bad professor. She genuinely cares that you learn the material. Perhaps undergrads are getting softer by the day...
She is a very great professor. She knows biosensor in and out. A very fair grader, very understanding and role model to many. I wonder why students have rated her badly. But if interested in learning new ideas, please enroll in her class. You will like really like it and she will impact your life positively. Congrats. Dr. Sadik for the good work.
She is not a good professor. I did not believe those bad ratings about her until I attended her class. She goes really fast over the critical problems and does not explain it well. Most of the time I am left confused. Very confusing.
She is a horrible professor. Not only that, her TA's are even worse.Dont take this class unless you are required. If you do, dont,I repeat dont take Elizabeth's lab section. She is the rudest and meanest TA I have met in my 3 years at BU.If you ask question, she will act like you have committed a crime. She Doesnt help at all, instead shows attitude
She's a nice person, but lecturing isn't one of her strengths. You have to rely on the textbook to clarify concepts. Test material is lecture based, just skim through the slides. Lab is a grade booster. Overall, a managable class.
I gave up chem BS, but took BA for chem instead, because the last course I need was taught by her.
Took 221 with her, took 422 with her, she is MUCH better lecturing upper level classes.

Dont take this class unless you have to. The professor is incomprehensible and going to class is completely useless. Tutors are great or prior knowledge of chemistry also works. I started doing better in the class when i stopped going to class and started reading the Chemistry for Dummy's book and it helped. And the TA's office hours are a must.
Horrible, I learned more from Highschool chem then i could ever possibly hope to learn from this woman. The main reason I go to class is to attend the one right after it, which takes place in the same room.
Alright heres the deal with Sadik, shes a chill teacher but she flys thru her lectures and it takes you the first 5 classes to understand 3 words the woman says... once u understand her accent you are lost and it is far too late to have any chance at getting anything above a B unless u are the chem master of the world
She is...ok. I'd suggest plenty of self-study as you will not learn too much in lecture. Get a tutor, and get some SMART, non slacking friends to work with. Get 100's on loncapa, it will save your life in this class, as the tests are pretty difficult. Study a bit, and a B might be possible. Maybe.
Be sure to get a tutor and visit TAs, or you will find yourself crying yourself to sleep.
She is a very smart woman, but her accent is so thick that you cannot understand one thing that she is saying. Also, her lecture notes are not at all helpful. Reading the notes are a waste of time. Read the textbook.
I'm about to take her final in two hours. It's going to be on everything I "learned" this semester. Good luck if you're taking this, cause you'll never get above a C+. Tests are impossible. Lectures are pointless. Buy a "Chemistry for Dummies" book and you might get into the B range. A's are impossible.
A very nice person, but difficult to understand. This class has to go over a lot in a short amount of time and she spends way too much time on pretty much useless details instead of the basics. See her for help and you will do fine.
Near impossible to understand. Everything s curved so that it seems like everyone is getting around a B, but in reality itd s round a C-
The exams are not reflective at all of what is taught in class, and the textbook won't help much either. Depending on how the class is doing as a whole, she may tell you what the questions on the exam will be, so attending is recommended. She is not very good at answering questions in class, and often misses the point entirely.
Most of the time, you can just read along in the textbook during her lecture and see exactly what she is trying to convey to the class. She is very confusing at times, and even is incorrect sometimes (She once said an electron absorbs energy when it decreases in principal energy levels). Whether this is a language problem or just a mistake, its bad
Just not a good teacher at all. She ignores kids questions, and her lectures do not cover everything that we need to know for her tests. I suggest just reading the text book.
Terrible! She was a nice woman and you could tell she was brilliant, but she was not a good teacher at all. I would recommend bringing your textbook to lecture and taking that time to read it. You will be much better off that way, honestly.
so bad...just wait for the urge at the end. you cant understand her and she does not make fair tests
Awesome Professor. I gained very useful knowledge in her class; she was available for class help and enormous research help, although I wasn't advised by her. <RESPECT>
Extremely nice and approachable. Lectures are interesting and she does a good job in applying a lot of examples to industry. Highly recommended.
I took Dr. Sadik's chemistry for environment class with very little interest in this subject and I learned a lot. I loved this class in every way possible. The people in my class and the professor were extremely caring and understanding. Test were not difficult at all as long as you took/kept proper notes. Definitely a class worth taking.
She is a very nice person and clearly cares. But she rambles on about her personal life and does not do a good job stressing what is important. Definitely go to class as she will tell you test answers. But sometimes her answers are wrong or she is not clear which is right. She is a great person, just not a great professor.
Professor Sadik is extremely knowledgeable about chemistry, but not very good at explaining herself. The way she solves problems is not the way that I'm used to, so in-class example problems were not very helpful. However, she utilizes the i-clicker so attending class will help your grade. Lab reports are an extreme grade booster!!!
Dr. Sadik is wonderful professor that will work to ensure you actually understand the material. If something is not clear in class her office hours are there to have open discussions about chemistry or to find the straight forward answer you are looking for. She wants her students to pass and is a great mentor if you get to know her !
I took Dr. Sadik's Environmental Chemistry class and it was amazing ! If you are in the sciences and need a free tech elective I would recommend this class. You learn a lot and the class was very interactive. We had debates on multiple topics in this field, open note tests, and short presentations so it had a little bit of everything for everyone.
Wonderful professor. She is very knowledgeable about her subject and is very helpful if you have questions.
