charismatic, young, fun
One of the best teachers I would highly recommend. Makes the class fun and it doesn't hard that he is super cute :)
he's a good professor. the class requires reading pretty much for every class but its not overwhelming and is actually interesting. His lectures are good and hes a funny dude. take the class! it fufills a lot of plas and its fun (:
Great professor. Young, funny and makes the class interesting. A lot of reading but he picks interesting books. Multiple choice exams. You should definitely take him.
Great Professor. Encourages participation and writing. Great choice of books. Encourages thinking and analysis. and doesnt like it when people show up late but class wise he's phenomenal, plus he's young and has a fresh way to teach which also makes his sexy!
Makes you buy and read four books that are really dry and boring. The lectures are very dry and boring. The tests are all multiple choice and your entire grade comprises of three of them, all cumulative. Do not take this class if you do not have a natural interest for anthropology.
I did not like him, he had weird outburts during class and well it was just dull and boring unless you like anthropology and feel like doing some major sucking up don't take him
This is a great class highly recommend. I had no interest in this class before I started, I took it for the requirement, but the discussions in class are interesting, and the material/tests are not hard.
Elisha is a good speaker; need to do the readings in order to understand what he says in class. There's a book we read about sex, so if you not comfortable with the topic of sex, don't take this class. Grades are based on Multiple Choice Exams, 50 questions each, which is easy as long as you do the readings and listen to him talk in class.
He is a good professor, uses the book and other readings but he repeats most of the stuff in class. Everything on tests is talked about in class, he takes attendance sometimes by passing the sheet around and dislikes class interruptions-cell phones and talking. He is funny at times and is a great speaker.
Very clear and nice.always willing to help people if they need it.Would highly recomend him.
Prof. elisha is not as nice as people say he is, i approached him a number of times and he gave me an attitude, he gives a work overload, and his tests are not as straightforward as they seem, coming from a 3.7 gpa student, unless you have at least 3 hrs every night to read his books. He also gets very annoyed if you talk or make noise. Goodluck !
Take him if you need this as a requirement. I almost never showed up-read all the books-I'm probably walking away with an B+ if not an A. He's a good Professor and the good things you read about him in these reviews are generally true.
Prof. Elisha is extremely dedicated to his work. You have to do the readings or else you won't know what he is talking about in class. The only time he gives an attitude is when the class of 100 students does not know the answer to a question based on prior assigned reading material (rightfully so). He is a really great professor. Take his class.
Prof. Elisha is an extremely good professor. Do the readings assigned on the syllabus and be attentive in class. You will pass with a high grade.
Very cool guy, funny and interesting. This subject could be very boring but he keeps things interesting with witty remarks and anecdotes. Tests are right out of the notes so they are pretty easy. Will boost your grade if you show up and participate. He was nice enough to help me reschedule my final bc I had a problem... Great guy and great teacher.
He's a great speaker and keeps you interested in the topics. YOU NEED TO READ in order to get an A. If you dont read, just go to class an be VERY attentive. His tests are very easy but you must read or you'll get an 80 on them. Don't worry, most of the readings are very interesting. I highly recommend this professor!
Really nice, works with you if you need to. SO MUCH READING though. Be prepared. Also, just a tad boring, but overall, okay.
He is very good professor and he has a good sense of humor. He makes the boring readings seem interesting. Reading is a must to get an A.
MUST READ ALL READINGS. You will not pass anything if you don't. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you don't read you will be beyond screwed.
Awesome class he seems strict but he is not ..you have to do a lot of reading but he is a good buffer when discussions become heated. I recommend taking his classes..
He is great....dont buy all the textbooks he asks for his class notes are more than enough for the exams!!
Very good professor over all. I loved his class
Hes Awesome and enthusiastic! If you don't pass this EASYCLASS its because your lazy. Readings are a lot of fun. easy class. 2 tests one final not hard at all. Just pay attention. :] Youll love him
AMAZING PROFESSOR! He is the definition of how a Professor should be. He is very insightful, intelligent and it truly shows in how he interacts with the students. He is very knowledgeable, thus making it easier for us students to understand him and actually retain the information! Attend lectures, take VERY GOOD NOTES, and do readings!
Such a boring class, but Professor Elisha is the man. If you must fulfill requirements I would recommend taking this Professor.
Smart, engaging, very supportive of students. Easy A if you do the work and seek help. Very anthro-oriented, so be prepared for academic writing and some jargon. I enjoyed it
Omri Elisha is a greeat professor!! He is very passionate about his lectures. He has a way of talking that simply draws you in. This was my favorite class last semester. VERY INTERESTING! He's witty and funny at times. The only thing there's a lot of reading (interesting tho)! But take good notes, they help a lot. I got an A-. MUST TAKE HIM!!
He is a great professor. This class is not too easy but it is really ineteresting. You have too read a lot and it takes a lot of time. The tests are not very hard, but you have to study.
Prof Elisha is a brotato. Only gives three test and thats your grade. Pay attention to his lectures and do the readings.
he is a very nice person who is very clear in his lectures. if you pay attention and do all the readings it is very easy to get an a +
He is a great professor who knows his material and knows how to teach it. He tried to keep our attention by throwing in jokes here and there. I dislike anthropology but he made it interesting for me. Would definitely take him again.
Great teacher, really knows his stuff! dont need a textbook which is a plus. there are 3 tests all multiple choice.
Great Lectures that draw you in somehow, books are cheap and it's simply a lot of reading. Read the book, take multiple choice quizzes, go to class and listen to lectures and it's Easy A. Highly recommend.
Don't take him if you don't have 34 hours every week to read ethnography, articles etc. Lectures are amazing but only lecture wouldn't give you an A-B+. You have to read all the materials to do well. No expensive textbook. 3 very cheap books and all other readings are posted on blackboard.28
It's a lot of reading long articles long with books but Atleast no textbook ! He's a good professor.
No tests. 6 discussion posts online. 1 Midterm paper. 1 Final paper. Readings for just about every class, but each is an opportunity to post online. Participation is 20% and needed in his class. Read 4 books and some articles. Not a bad professor. Nothing really to take notes on just listen and do readings. But participate. I havent been doing it.
The material is actually quite boring but his lectures make it sound really interesting. Two midterms and a final. I suggest not taking this class if you don't have at least an hour/ hour and a half a day to dedicate to his readings, as they are an integral part of the class. Do that, along with taking notes from lecture, and you'll do fine.
This was my favorite class thanks to him! His lectures are super interesting and there's no textbook. You absolutely have to do the readings to pass though and they can be lengthy..
Professor Elisha's lectures are really good and he explains everything thoroughly. He also incorporates jokes so they aren't boring. Professor Elisha as a person is amazing, and cute too. Class was easy, just do the readings and you'll be good because tests are based on that.
I surprisingly enjoyed this class! Even if you have no interest in Anthropology, you will still like his class because he makes it interesting. His tests are pretty straight forward since the information comes from the readings and notes from class. He throws in a couple of jokes here and there also. Great professor! Highly recommend
His lectures are great! Not much of what he says is on the slides so you'll have to be ready to take notes one way or another if you want to pass. He does reviews fairly often, though, and has recalled terms and phrases from earlier in the semester to supplement the current topic. Snappy dresser.
Omri is a great professor and I definitely recommend him! His lectures are nice to listen to because he is very well spoken and enthusiastic and it doesn't hurt that he throws in a joke here and there. There are assigned readings for every class but they're all articles and for the most part enjoyable. Read, listen, take notes and you'll do fine.
3 exams, all multiple choice, fairly easy. Readings look daunting, but if you go to lecture he will tell you what to focus on. Take good notes, study, and the A+ is yours. Guy has weird hair and is totally full of himself, and he takes his job too seriously. Great course for GenEd requirement. THIS CLASS IS THE DEFINITION OF A GPA BOOSTER!!!!!
Professor Elisha is a fantastic professor. I was wary after reading reviews on here that he's a tough grader and gives a lot of reading, but took his class anyway. Elisha's class lecture was enthralling and really inspired us students to participate. He's strict in terms of expecting a top notch written paper but you will definitely learn. Take him
Interesting lecturer and definitely a bit full of himself. Expects you to put in the work and prioritize his class, but can screw you over with grades anyway because there isn't much to grade you on. Can notice favoritism too, if you look out for it. Overall a pleasant experience until he screwed me over with the grade (I participated constantly).
The class isn't particularly hard but not particularly easy either. He takes himself and the lectures pretty seriously and you are only graded based off exams and participation/attendance so theres really no room for slacking.
He really knows what he's talking about and takes time to help you understand it. Lectures can get boring at times but most of the time he makes them interesting. The assigned readings are usually talked about in class, just make sure to take notes bc the tests are based off of them. Overall, he's a pretty chill guy and a great professor.
Hands down one of the best teachers in Queens College, I wish there were more professors like him. Professor Elisha is very funny and respected; his lectures are very clear and straight to the point. Id definitely take him again.
Amazing professor definitely recommend him so nice and fun with such a nice smile
Amazing amazing amazing professor. Speaks well, is clear, and testing is based on exactly what was taught in class. You should read the texts given, but he does go over the main points in class. Respectful and knows exactly what hes talking about. Cant wait to take another class of his.
Professor Elisha is one of my favorite professors in Queens. You will need to read the articles and books he assigns because you will be writing a midterm and final paper, each being at least 1500 words, as well as 6 reading responses. He is clear on what he wants and is always available to help. He is strict on grammar and his criteria.
I think he talks just to hear the sound of his own voice sometimes.,.lectures are boring but the class isn't hard tests are multiple choice but you need to come to class he knows when you are not there
Come to class. Read what he assigns, thats it. If you fail this class its because youre lazy. His lectures are entertaining and hea funny. Hes very clear on what he expects. If you take notes and read what is assigned, the multiple choice tests are a breeze.
The class was quite interesting actually, it wasn't bad, I kind of like the way he teaches. But there are a lot of readings though, be ready
Very good professor, makes his lectures interesting. There are readings but they're pretty easy and his tests are not difficult as long as you pay attention in class, I do recommend you take him!
Professor Elishas class was great. I did very well on the tests and quizzes, but there were definitely a lot of readings. I learned a lot, though. Hes a good professor, but attendance is important for this class. He says a lot of important things during class that wont be reiterated in the notes that he provides for you when you do miss class.
Very interesting lectures and discussions. You can tell the depth of his knowledge and how much he prioritizes student input. Tests are designed to be easy as long as you read.
Extremely kind. Has thoughtful and engaging lectures that really make you think. Open to all kinds of feedback. Show up to his lectures, take notes, and you'll ace the exams. Reading quizzes were super easy, just keep up with your readings and you'll ace them. 10/10 take him if you can! Completely changed my perception of anthropology.
You have to take small little quizzes, beware to take notes, not everything you can understand by lectures. But, he is nice, understanding, helps you if you ask questions. Always, stay up to date with notes, read articles online and much more.
Professor Elisha is an amazing professor. There are alot of readings, there are a few reading quizzes and three exams. He teaches in complete detail so that you understand everything. He responds and wants everyone to do well!
He is a great professor. You can tell he is passionate about the topics so it's also interesting to learn from. The readings are reasonably short so the quizzes are easy to pass.
he is good as a professor, caring, and gives fair tests and quizzes. if you read the pages just skip to the main parts and you will understand it. There aren't any projects but quizzes and three tests. interesting readings and lectures.
Omri was a good professor. This class was a very simple class and a very simple way to get a good grade. DO THE HOMEWORK! I barely paid attention during the lecture. I just did the homework and had notes and aced every exam and quiz. Exams arent hard at all. His lectures arent to boring as he makes it a little fun. Its honestly just a Easy A.
Easiest A ever. I would take him again simply because he made boring material interesting, and was a funny guy. His quizzes and exams never had surprise questions. Just do the reading and come to class and take notes and you'll pass.
Professor Elisha is great! His lectures were interesting and passionate. Make sure you take notes during class and do all the online quizzes. His tests are easy and if you take notes during class and read the homework readings you will get an A. Very simple and interesting class and he sets you up for success.
Professor Elisha is very passionate about anthropology, he tries to explains things in a way we could understand and would try to answer every question asked to the best of his ability. I was graded on by 3 exams and 6 reading quizzes. Come to class, take notes, read and you'll pass the class no problem.
Professor Elisha is articulate when teaching his field for the introductory class, and it's always intriguing to listen in to his lecture. 3 MC tests and an online quiz every other week throughout the semester will contribute to your grade; come to class, take notes, and always try to read the readings and the class won't be difficult at all.
He is an amazing professor. I took his 224 Religion & Ritual class this semester. 2 small papers, 5 discussion posts, 1 final group project and 1 very simple/fun final exam. The class itself was extremely interesting and discussion based. He had the author of the book we read come to speak with us. He's very nice and loves participation.
what these reviews don't tell u is that there is alottttt of reading like 10+ pages every week. don't take him unless u are ok with doing a lot of reading but reading aside he's a good teacher
Prof. Elisha is very passion about his work and gives very clear instruction on what he assigns. There is a lot of reading in this class I would say 2x a week some could be long. But those readings come in handy for the quizzes. You just have to pay attention and take notes to understand the class.
Great professor! I recommend to take him for anth101. There are 6 reading quizzes that are easy, the tests are fair and totally doable. The lectures were interesting and you can tell he is very knowledgable/passionate about antho.
Amazing! There were a ton of dense readings though which he would go over in class. The slides weren't thorough and weren't posted online so you had to pay attention in class. The grade is 3 MP tests and 6 quizzes. He also told us at the beginning of the semester that if we participated he would bump our grade slightly. Great experience!
Good Lectures but there's like 10-page readings every week. 6 at home reading quizzes and 3 exams
take him if u want an easy A! rarely any hw and ur grade is mostly from tests-- which are kind of difficult. as long as u study his class notes for the test you'll get an A
Professor Omri Elisha for ANTH 101 is an excellent lecturer who is always clear and very engaging. He is very helpful and always checks for questions, making sure everyone understands the material. His grading is strict but fair.
Omri was a good professor and while the class itself was boring the lecture was good. The course has 3 test based mostly on things said in the lecture and a couple readings he sends out as HW but those are really easy. Take a lot of notes and you'll be fine. Not graded by participation or attendance but it can help.
Professor Elisha is one of the best Professors I've had! He made the class super interesting, and the readings were fun. He doesn't allow computers, and shows a bit of political partiality in class, but overall his lectures were super enjoyable. He sticks to the syllabus, grade by 3 multiple choice tests, no final. I would definitely take again!
I love this clssses a lot and he is best professor I ever had! I recommend to yall!
I took him for Spring he knows how to teach doesn't read off the slides, but some of the things he talks about made us uncomfortable. You have to come to class he doesn't posted slides and he does take attendenace. 6 quizes - 30% 3 exams - 70%: 1- 15% 2- 25% 3- 30% take really good notes and create a class chat to help you pass.
Incredible professor, he gives interesting lectures based off of interesting weekly readings. There are 3 exams and 6 (5 mcq) online quizzes (easy). Everything is super easy to pass as long as you read the readings, which aren't too long and review the notes he provides in class. Otherwise, he's funny, and makes class interesting and engaging.
This class was very easy for those who simply pay attention to the lectures. Friends who came to class to be on their phone were the ones complaining during finals week. I have ADHD and the prof teaching style kept me engaged the full class time, extremely rare for me. Show up, listen and take notes and you'll do great. Prof nice and professional
My favorite professor this semester. His lectures are incredibly interesting and he keeps you engaged. Make sure to come to class and do the readings or you won't do well. Although attendance is not part of your grade you will not be able to pass the tests if you don't come. He's funny and I wish more professors were like him. 11/10
Best professor ever. Makes this subject not so boring. Does take attendance but has little to no effect on grade. Only extra credit provided is to consistently participate in class. In lecture slides simplifies everything into perfect note taking structure for you to study. Only ever needed to study for 1 hour and aced the tests. Take him!!!
Free A basically. Funny guy. Do the readings it'll actually be useful on the tests. Slides aren't posted online snd only available if u attend class but he knows how to teach without reading off his slides. Would definitely take another class with him.
Just attend classes to get notes, study well, and you'll ace this class! He only assigns readings(not graded but tested on exams), 6 online quizzes about specific readings, and 3 tests(including the final). Each test increases in % counted toward final grade. He allows makeups for reasonable excuses. Definitely what a 101 class should feel like.
No regrets in taking this professor
