Very very nice guy, makes lab a blast. Let's you come up with new ideas for your "challenges" and let's you have fun. Great teacher I'd recommend him to everyone.
very nice teacher. Let's you be creative and is always there for help. Very nice guy. would recommend to anyone
He's great. Very nice, very fun. The lab is good, you learn a lot but you have fun at the same time.
i do not care for him. he is very unclear- doesnt really talk much.. if u dont understand something you have to ask him.. doesnt explain things well.. wouldnt reccommend
he is horrible at teaching this lab. don't take him.. take Knabb she makes up the exams and gives her class a review.
Great teacher, very excited about biology. Willing to help during office hours. His tests are very fair.
awesome in lab. such a funny n nice guy. exams are fair. i would reccommend him.
One of my favorite teachers so far this year; I'd recommend him to anyone intrested in biology or science. Easy to go to outside of class as well!
great class!!! I can't say enough great things about Dr. Pagan. He's an expert in pharmacology and really wants you to do well in the class. Would definitely recommend taking.
Had Dr. Pagan for lab. Very nice and easly going. Always willing to help you out if you have questions.
Pagan does not explain things very clearly. When he needs to get through material to keep things on schedule, he rambles through it in his crazy accent, and expects us to understand it. He isnt very reliable, and he graded every single on of our exams wrong. students had to correct him. fortunately he added the points to the next exam. avoid him!
Nicest guy you'll meet.. but the material in his lectures is kinda boring. He'll ask you if you're awake a lot.
Dr. Pagan is not a good professor! He hardly ever explains material clearly and when he gets behind schedule...look out!! Then he speed reads his lecture slides. Thank god that Dr. Fairchild taught half of the lecture, or else I would have never made it through. He couldn't even grade our tests correctly....we had to tell him the right answers.
Really nice professor I would recommend him, if you have to take another science or something. His concepts are really easy to understand and he takes time to explain harder topics.
Dr. Pagan is the man. Best biology lecturer i ever had. I would definetly take him for another class. He knows what he is talking about. Just study the powerpoint slides he puts up and you are guaranteed a good grade. Lets not forget: "Stupid Joke of the Day! There i got that out. Hey! I cant help it"
Very nice! BIO 110 is sooooo incredibly easy though. Always a "stupid joke of the day":)
Prof. Pagan is the nicest professor on stage, but he is also the most arrogant person in the Biology department. So yes, very very nice person. Teaching habits? tests are horrible, the labs are a JOKE. His lectures are very boring, though he tries to add humour. he doesn't use the text book at all, so don't buy it. All test questions are in lecture
He's good, as long as you read the slides before class because you understand him better if you're slightly familiar. BIG ACCENT! you cannot tell if he's saying ADP or ATP. he's funny and tries to wake up the class. find a friend who took the teacher before and get the BACK TESTS there very helpful ! dont buy the bookkkk !
He is a nice guy. His classes are rediculously easy. Just memorize his slides. Dont ever get the book. Pointless. He actually isnt very smart as far as chem is concerned and gets a lot of the structural chemistry wrong. He just makes you memorize structures. If you want an A then take the class. If you want to learn something...take another teacher
nice guy, helpful
Origins of Life and the Universe: Pagen's the 2nd half,Necastro does the 1st. DO NOT TAKE this class. 100's of slides a week. They r trying 2 cover 13.7 billion yrs. In 1 lecture Pagen covrd all of BIO-300. all othr reviews R abut bio100 this clss is NOT that! U get no clue where ur going or why. memorizing with out meaning. Nice only goes so far
Origins of Life and the Universe: Taught by Pagen & Necastro, Both Teachers Love their subjects and are top professors in their Fields. However neither has skill at "Teaching" or holds a Teaching certificate. At least take an EDP200 course. Lecturing for 90 minutes is not teaching it's lecturing!
He was absolutely handsdown a wonderful professor. Very helpful and jokes a lot. Not too funny but his corny jokes make him funny. You will enjoy the class I had him for BIO-110. Not mandatory to come but if you go he does use up class time to go over everythig. He honors his syllabus.
This guy LOVES Biology. If you get your hands on the back tests, you're guaranteed nothing lower than an A-. It's hard to get a grip on Biology though because it seems like this course skim the surface of Biology. But, if you want an A, go for it. Pagan is a nice professor and very helpful. He's willing to take time to help a student.
He loves the subject and seems knowledgeable. Decent lecturer, though hard to understand at times. Tries to give examples and analogies to aid learning concepts. Also tries to be funny, but usually fails. Tests seem fair, based mostly on material given in lecture. He follows the syllabus. Sometimes gives reminders of tests via e-mail, not in class.
Good professor, but the book is pricey and useless. Lectures are peppered with corny jokes to keep the students awake, which is actually necessary because the powerpoints are over detailed, hard to look at, and very boring. Dr. Pagan is a good guy himself, but hard to comprehend if you take him in a huge lecture hall.
This class was one I struggled with, but it was not Pagan's fault. Bio is not my strong point and I really had to work to get the good grades on tests. Lab saved my butt in the end. Overall, he's a great person and all the PP are online. Language barriar got better as the semester went on.
i could never understand him even when i went to his office hours. he alsodoes seem to care about the students.
NICEST GUY EVER. He cares about his students & wants you to succeed. If you have any problems just go to his office hours. Come to class. Don't rely on the backtest from previous years come exams. Tests are easy as long as you look at the powerpoints. TIP: pay close attention to the pics on the ppts. Lots of test questions/concepts come from them.
He is one of the most caring professors at wc. Lab is easy and will boost your grade a ton. Go to class, listen, take notes and it's cake. Overall really genuine, caring prof and loves biology and teaching.
BIO 110 was very hard, but Dr. Pagan really does care about his students and will help you.
Tests are very hard, but Dr. Pagan is a nice guy. Sometimes he is hard to understand though
Great professor. Really cares about every one of his students. If you do bad on a test go to his office hours. he will help you understand difficult concepts. Don't rely on the backtests. they are absolutely useless. this semester was 10 times harder compared to the back tests. Once you're past the language barrier he is easy to understand.
Is a nice guy and cracks jokes throughout lectures, but goes through the slides very quickly and does not focus on one topic. Definitely review the slides and textbook chapters on your own.
Pagan is so nice! I have him for chem lab this semester, and he is beyond helpful! He'll answer any and every question you have and cracks jokes when the class is starting to get slow. I would definitely recommend taking him!
I would recommend taking Pagan. He is very kind and approachable, a regular guy who happens to know a lot about biology. He loves his subject and it shines through in his teaching. I took his class over the summer and it was very intense-a test every week and labs every day except for Fridays.
I very much liked him but at times I felt like he was breezing through some of the material, which I understand because he has a lot to cover. I think he's a very funny and good professor and I'd probably take him again. Just be prepared to do a lot of reading.
Very thick accent that takes some getting used to and moves fairly quick. You do not need to go to every lecture (although I did) because he posts his power points and his tests are strictly from the power points. Goes into more depth than is necessary bc he used to teach BIO110. Respectful of his students. Challenging, but I recommend.
Good professor. His slides have all the info you need to know for tests. Sometimes test material can be confusing like he'll put small detail from the slides onto the test. Go to lecture he explains things well. Really nice guy too
He was a good teacher for a lecture hall and explained everything well. He is very passionate about Biology and easy to talk to if you go to visit him. Gave a lot of extra credit for our class. The lab quizzes are important and will really boost your grade you do well.
Your grade in Pagan's class is determined by 4 tests worth 50 points each and 100 points worth of online labs. The labs were insanely easy and you're basically guaranteed an A on them. The tests were pretty easy as well if you review his powerpoints. I did little to no studying outside my tutoring group and got As on every test.
Typical death by power point, which don't help very much. Crash course bio on youtube helped more than he did honestly. The labs are a very easy to complete within 10-15 mins at most b/c all of the self quizzes are the tests answers.
He is a very nice guy but has very hard tests. You need to read the chapters/ he pulls things from it for the test. Doesn't take attendance/ only reads exactly from the Power Points in class. Doesn't give extra information.
Not a nice guy, bad temper and you can tell he doesn't care about his students. Bio 100 is at the bottom of his tier. He gave me a terribly hard time about taking the final after I missed it because of medical absence. Good luck
He was one of the nicest and most entergetic professors I had last semester. The class is difficult but if you study the PowerPoint s and read the text you'll do great! I wish I could take him again, he's and awesome guy.
Decent guy. Forgets a lot, class has alot of material. Not the easiest but passable. Suggest you get a tutor because alot of sudents in the classes.
Good overall. If you attend class you should be fine.
This class is the typical dreaded biology course. I think Pagan is a good professor, although he makes the tests very detailed orientated. It makes it really hard to go to class when he reads right off the slides. A tutor really helps for this course. Also, DO NOT ASK HIM FOR EXTRA CREDIT.
Dr. Pagan is such a nice man! Make sure you attend lectures!! He doesn't take attendance however, it makes a difference. His exams are very detail oriented so make sure you cover all of the material on the powerpoints. He is willing to help explain material to you during office hours or even after/before class. I would definitely take him again!
I was worried about taking Dr. pagan's class at first. Make sure you read and attend class. A lot of material on the test comes from his PowerPoints and he's big on diagrams. He tends to emphasize certain parts of lectures that will be on exams. He is especially good at explaining difficult topics in easy to understand language. Also, get a tutor.
His lectures are just him reading off his powerpoints. Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you are an auditory learner you should go. I just studied off the powerpoints and am pulling an A right now. Go to lab, easy points (twenty minutes tops). I had a tutor and that helped a lot. The third test was VERY diagram heavy.
He just reads straight off the power points, test are pretty hard. he is a nice guy but not the best professor. the lab is super easy, don't ask for extra credit
He is so funny and really wants to make sure you understand the information. I would definitely take him again. There is a lot of information that requires a lot of studying and the class moves pretty fast but overall he makes the class enjoyable to attend.
Felt like professor designed his course to purposely fail the students. Not a good teacher, had to rely on YouTube most of the time, even though i showed up to class all the time. The material its self is easy, but his teaching is difficult to get. Doesnt provide good feedback on tests, no study guides or practice before exams, no review days.
He is not THAT bad, but his lectures were so boring especially at 8AM. He tried to be funny which I appreciated and he is very specific with his grading. There are no extra credit opportunities, but if you study the powerpoint you should be fine for the test! Sometimes there are specific things on the test from the textbook so make sure you skim!
I have never had a professor cancel class for such a long time before the final exam and then expect us all to learn the material for the exam on our own before I had Dr. Pagan. Unclear about what material will be on the test, refuses to answer questions he claims he answered in class, even though I went to every lecture that wasn't canceled.
Pagan is a nice guy but not my favorite professor. There's 4 exams and a final. The final isn't cumulative. Labs are easy points. Study off of the powerpoints but be sure to look over the book as some questions aren't in the powerpoints. He is condescending towards his students and isn't always approachable. Never ask for extra credit.
Pagan cares about bio, but he doesn't care about his students. I am overall a good student, averaging A's and the occasional B, and I earned a C on every test. I studied incredibly hard and memorized his superfluous lecture slides, and his tests were still impossible to ace. He doesn't understand why his students do not do well, and blames us.
Pagan. What a man. Super boring. Had at 8 am and dreaded it every monday wednesday. Lab was even worse. You have to study everything from his powerpoints. He is so boring and tests are hard. have to know the information.
Lectures are boring but its not a difficult class. He posts all his PowerPoints which are identical to his tests. Theres an online access code with the book. You have a lab and they dont take long and they are all online. As long as you study the PowerPoints and your notes youll be fine for the tests. Make sure to go to labs! Overall its ok
Dr. Pagan deserves more credit than he's been given on here.. again, it's the students who do not want to spend time reading through the slides or showing up to class. Aced all tests- read the notes and I don't see how you can't pass them.. its basic high school biology that anyone at this level should be able to do. Your grade reflects effort.
The only grades in this class are from exams. You are expected to know everything from the readings and lectures, which really is a lot of material, however exam questions are VERY random. He will mention some expectations in class. Unfortunately hes not very approachable or informative and wont offer any clarification on your concerns.
Dr. Pagan is extremely unapproachable and turned me down twice when i needed help or advice in a rude way when I was being very kind to him. I've never had a teacher who does not care about his students more than him. The only grades are the exams, and the questions don't always come from the lectures.
doesn't care about his students. refuses to help in any/all situations. exam questions are worded to be confusing and difficult and half don't have to do with the slides. don't take this class unless you want to fail.
Dr. Pagan has the most intimidating syllabus ever. Very strict with grading and is they type of professor that will just answer you with "read the syllabus". That being said, this class was very easy. The notes are all posted online and few people attend lecture (going helps). Take lab seriously, the quizzes end up being like 32% of your grade.
Its all lecture. He doesnt take attendance but he gave extra credit once when people kept not showing up. He doesnt care if you pay attention so just go and do something else. Hes very passionate and tries to make the info stick. Dont skip laps no matter how tempting, they take literallly 10 minutes max.
Dr. Pagan was nice enough but he basically read right off the slides. Doesn't take attendance. If you're good at studying with just powerpoints, you really don't even have to go to lectures. Labs are extremely easy and take 15 minutes. He was fine for Bio 100 but I would be careful with any upper level classes.
His tests were very difficult and his powerpoints were in fonts that were hard to read and he went very fast. Only redeeming quality was that he posted the slides on D2L.
This class just beats you down. Professor pagan redirects you for every question you may have to the syllubus. He chooses to give vague answers and forces you to interpret your own answers for everything and tells you to study at least 2 hours a night for a gen ed class which is unrealistic. In the end not a very good class all the info is rushed.
He's an overall normal professor. The labs were easy and online, all you have to do is show up. The lectures take the whole class but he posts all of the powerpoints that will be on exams.
Pagan is a good professor. I'd recommend printing out the slides because he goes through the powerpoint very fast. He tries to make jokes, and he always waits for a laugh. He does this to try and wake the class back up. Labs are done on the computer and the questions are always from the lab so you can find the answers there.
Dr. Pagan is very smart and knows a lot about Biology, but he rushes through material and is not very approachable when it comes to asking questions. He can be very intimidating and doesn't word questions well on his exams, making it difficult to get an A. I studied for hours on hours for his exams and my best grade was a B+.
Tests are very hard and are based on information that is not in class or on the presentation, it's mostly on the textbook. He reads off the slides and puts several questions in the exam about things he says in class however these questions are based off like one sentence he says so if you zone out you're going to get the question wrong.
Professor Pagan is extremely nice but his tests are sometimes all over the place. The tests are based on a lot of different topics and he doesn't specify what to study. However, the labs are really easy and helped my grade a lot. Go to lab it will help! He also doesn't take attendance and just reads off of slides the whole class.
Prof. Pagan is very hard to follow during lecture. He moves through content heavy material very quickly without a thorough explanation. Exams are very difficult. Only thing that helped my grade was lab attendance and quizzes
I didn't get a great grade in this class because it was my freshman year and I was still getting used to studying. Regardless, Pagan really cares about his students and wants them to do well. He does his best to make lectures interesting by incorporating jokes. If you put in the work and go to class, this class would be cake.
Prof Pagan is a really sweet man, he wants the best for his students but he just wasn't the best teacher. Every exam we had covered several topics that didn't relate to each other which made it confusing. There was a lot of information on powerpoints that aren't incorporated into the test, and that's all he gives you ://
One is awesome, he tries to be funny and its rather entertaining. He knows what he is talking about and is passionate, but tests are very hard and they basically equal your grade.
He is a little hard to understand with his accent. However, his class isnt terrible if you get a tutor (highly recommend). His notes are taken right from the textbook so the textbook isnt really needed. Though attendance isnt taken in a lecture hall, going to class helps you to pass tests. Final isnt cumulative
He was funny and made class interesting
If you need a science class I would recommend this it's easy as long as you're willing to put in minimal effort. The class is graded on tests and labs, the tests aren't that hard as long as you follow along with his lectures and labs there are quizlets for. As a person he's a pretty chill guy he tells a lot of dad jokes to break tension.
Lectures are confusing, his PowerPoints are even worse. Trying to ask him questions outside of class only seems to irritate him. Way too much material is expected of you to know, yes its a 300 level but considering anatomy is the only pre req and its the only class like it, its way too material heavy.
The most frustrating thing about this class is hes really the nicest and funniest professor and his lectures are very conversation like (which actually makes it hard to realize whats important), but hell constantly say not to worry about the exams and proceeds to give an exam worth worrying over. Which is rough because your grade is ONLY EXAMS.
Lectures are BORING. And confusing. He does not present information in a clear way. Very hard to understand, especially for a gen ed where most students are not biology majors. Does not prepare you well for exams, does not give you a study guide for exams.
content is disorganized and not presented to the class in a logical manner. attempts to cover too much content. if you email him questions, he will respond rudely.
One Pagan truly is a fantastic father figure of a teacher. He's very sympathetic to difficult situations students have, just make sure you read the slides daily and keep up in the textbook because a 137 term quizlet based off the slides is not enough to get you an A on the test. The only grades are lab and tests, lab answers are all on the internet
His lectures are hard to follow and not too interesting. He starts at a slow pace for the course and for the final expects you to memorize 200 slides (4 powerpoint presentations) in a week. Absolutely ridiculous for a 100 level class. I showed up to every lecture and about 10% of the class attended. Seems like a nice guy though.
ONE OF THE WORST PROFESSORS I HAVE HAD. I went to his office hours two weeks before an exam to review a little & he asked me a ton of questions that I didn't know the answers to. Then proceeded to make me feel like an idiot for not knowing EVERYTHING. He also posted slides with audio for the final for us to teach ourselves & the audio didnt work.
I took the summer class, which was a breeze. Study, take notes and the test will be easy. The answers for the labs are all on quizlet. Do read the book he has questions from them on the tests.
I thoroughly enjoyed taking Dr. Pagan's class. He is clear about grading, and if you study you should do fine on the exams. He does include the same question worded differently sometimes, and you do have to read the assigned chapters of the book because he pulls questions from the text directly, but he tells you what chapters to read in advance
I was worried cause of these mixed reviews,i am so bad at bio I always failed it,plus the course is 5 weeks but I liked going to classes with Pagan. He explained things simply and in multiple ways he can talk fast but i record the lectures I studied like i never studied before, worked hard, and am ending the class with a B+ or A. He truly cares.
The class wasn't super hard it's really about how much you study. He was easy to understand and he's very nice and tries to make class somewhat enjoyable. You take like 4 test and a final I think or 3 tests and a final. So that sucks because nothing else really helps your grade.
My favorite professor this semester. Funny guy, loves what he's teaching. Don't skip the class (even if it's an 8am) because the stuff he says in class DOES show up on exams. As far as labs go, I always did them at my scheduled time but in my own dorm or a friend's dorm. Answers mostly all online
He was the best professor I had this semester. You will definitely have to put in work and make sure you go to class because he often says what is going to be on the exams. You only take 4 exams the entire year but if you get a tutor and stay on top of your notes it is easy to get an A.
Dr. Pagan was a great professor. He didn't take attendance & didn't give homework. Your grade in this class is up to you if you decide to go to class and study. This class is based on 4 tests and labs (which will save you because they are easy and save your grade so take your time) so studying is a must. I studied reallllly hard and got an A.
I had Pagan for Bio100 lectures. While it can be a hard class, he tries to make it as easy as possible. You don't necessarily need to attend the lectures because there is no assignments or quizzes. The labs are instructed by one of his four assistants. They do not care if you talk or work together. EASY LABS! They boost your grade at the end.
This was by far the hardest class I've ever taken at West Chester. The tests are super hard so please make sure you study for them, even though class is not mandatory sometimes he will say little facts or give you hints as to what's going to be on the test and the things he says are not on the PowerPoints. Study the PowerPoints !!!!!
Dr. Pagan is very condescending and even rude sometimes. There was no need to make the most basic BIO class this hard. When explaining his PowerPoint lectures, he uses very confusing English words (not science related). I'm not sure if he does this because he thinks it would make him sound more fluent in English...
He doesnt teach. He puts up powerpoints with imbedded audio instead of recording himself speaking through it like any other professor would. You have to download like 2,000 things just to listen to 80 slide powerpoint he provides. Then he puts content that wasnt in the labs or the books/slides on the test. He is also extremely condescending.
Dr. Pagan doesn't teach. He uploads powerpoints with audio instead of recording himself. He speaks very slow are you are not able to change the speed of the lectures. Each topic took me at least an hour and there are multiple. The tests are extremely hard and he doesn't give any study guides.
this class felt like there was not a professor. Everything is done on your own and the tests do a poor job reinforcing material.
A great professor. His lectures are optional and basically, he will read over the presentation that will be posted onto D2L. His tests are pretty straightforward and not difficult if you prepare for them.
Dr. Pagan is a great professor! He made Bio 110 Lab entertaining and explained the concepts in depth. I absolutely recommend him for any prospective Bio 110 students.
Dr. Pagan is a great professor. He is straightforward and clear on what to expect for exams, the labs are fairly easy, and the homework is based on questions from the chapters of the textbook. If given the option to take Pagan, I highly recommend it. He gives amazing lectures and offers bonus points occasionally. If you don't study you won't pass.
Dr Pagan is SO nice and cares about his students & he tries to keep everyone engaged. But he goes very quickly and presents the information in strange orders. It worked for me because I took AP in HS but if I had not taken that class it would have been very hard. Not the most thorough explanations and he doesn't connect things. So sweet though :)
Pagan was not a super fun professor. He isn't always super clear as to what is on the Exams, but if you stay focused on the syllabus then it's not too hard to get lost. Showing up isn't necessary, but I found that I took the class time to do the notes, and if I skipped I felt a little bit lost. I definitely recommend getting a tutor for this class.
Classes are lecture based- he reads the slides BUT always says extra test info not on slides. DO NOT skip a class, you will be lost and miss crucial info. HW quizzes are straightforward and labs are easy and do not take whole class time. Exams can be difficult but if you prepare, you will be okay. Pagan is a sweetheart and very helpful.
Pagan Is the nicest person I have met in very long time, and he genuinely cares about his students and the subject. However, we only did about 50% of the lab work as other classes and he would rather lecture the material then give hands on experience. Overall, he is an amazing professor but should be teaching the lecture class and not the lab
As this was my first level 100 Biology course, Dr. Pagan was a wonderful professor. He truly cares about his students and loves to make dad jokes during his lectures :) However, the content is organized in a confusing manner and he doesn't connect his thoughts together... if you don't come to lecture, you may miss tiny hints he gives for the tests!
The good thing about this class is the vast amount of assignments you're given to balance out how poor your test grades will be because you can't understand anything this man says during the lectures. Literally just a meh class & professor. Would take him again if I needed to. Take notes & study for the tests fr.
Tough class for a gen ed. Would have failed if it weren’t online. Avoid at all costs.
He's a sweet old man but the he goes through content quickly. It is difficult i you're not familiar with the concepts. He gets disappointed when people don't show up to lectures.
He was a great individual, very kind and caring, but his exams had nothing that he would lecture us about and that were not in the labs. It made it very difficult to achieve a good exam grade because I would study and it would all be for nothing. The only thing keeping my grade up were the labs, without those I would have failed the course.
His tests are so hard and so are the homework quizzes. He doesn’t curve or give extra credit and he doesn’t answer emails and when he does they are rude and he tries to make you feel stupid.
his tests have nothing to do with anything we covered in the lecture, the only reason i’m passing is because of labs.
The most unhelpful teacher/professor I have ever had. I am taking him for a gen-ed like many people and he offers no help at all and no extra credit (he will give you a reminder about that everyday) but im in danger for failing and it is an absolute joke.
Dr. Pagan is the sweetest human ever and really appreciates the students who come to his lectures. He is a great professor, however he did not explain concepts in depth enough for an intro level class. I feel as though he would be great at teaching students at a higher level, who have more of an understanding of biology.
Professor Pagan seemed very excited about teaching. He answered any questions that came up. His tests were somewhat difficult but doable.
He does an great job explaining information based off of the slides; I recommend taking notes before class that way you can pay attention to what he is saying and add onto your notes during the lectures. He genuinely cares about his students well-being and wants to see his students succeed.
He's a very sweet man and sometimes likes to make jokes. He reads off of his powerpoints he uploads on D2L & elaborates more on them. I wouldn't say attendance is mandatory but it's helpful to go since the material can get more in depth later on. We have a total of 3 exams & 1 Final & we were allowed to use our notes on Exams. would take again
He is just ok. He's a good person and likes to crack jokes, but the PowerPoints are wordy which can be confusing. Sometimes puts questions on tests he does not cover in class. Tests are around 55 questions and are timed, but it is open note. Homework quizzes every week and labs once a week which are easy as long as you read.
Professor has wordy slides. There are sometimes questions on the quizzes that he doesn't discuss in the lectures. Will never let you make up an assignment or give extra credit. When he replies to emails they're always short sentences. Can't get your answer from just one email. Has to be a thread of emails before you get your questions answered.
my class was cancelled like half the semester because things kept coming up so the class was kind of annoying. he lectured and knows what he's talking about but goes on tangents and reads a lot off the screen. pretty easy overall and i'm sure would be better in a higher level course
I was very nervous for this class, but he turned out to be a sweetheart. He has three exams and a final, a weekly homework quiz, and several lab grades to give you your average. Theres a lot of grades to make up if you didn't do good on an exam. Everything is online for this class. Go to lecture, he loves seeing his students.
He is such a sweet, genuine, caring professor. The homeworks were relatively easy if you fully read and understood the readings. Make sure you study for the exams, there are 3 of them and a final. The labs are easy and are just to help boost your grade. Be sure to go to class because he gives hints and examples of what is on the exams.
Pagan is a sweetheart! He was always able to give clarification to students with questions. He was always very happy and lighthearted while teaching and very respectful. He does go over his notes very very fast so its important not to miss a class.
Professor Pagan is an amazing professor, his classes are Lec heavy. You must attend the lecture. Otherwise, he will hold office hours. Just study and you will be fine and go to the labs as well.
This class was difficult for me. I hate science and this class was definitely hard for me. The reading quizzes were hard and his tests were difficult. If he did not give 15 bonus points it would be a struggle.
Prof, Pagan was so so sweet and such a nice man with a clear enthusiasm for teaching. He definitely made class fun. Weekly homework definitely required some reading and understanding of the subjects and the labs were good grade boosters. Study for the tests, they're really hard.
He is very unclear about what the exams are on and never helps and he never gives helpful feedback. He is tough to understand because of his accent.
DO NOT TAKE IT NO MATTER WHAT!!! he is the worst teacher ever. he reads right from the book, and you can't understand a word he says because of his accent, he tries to be funny but he is just not, his slide consists of no information that he is saying, and he corrects himself multiple times per lecture.
Professor Pagan is a pretty good professor. All powerpoints are posted on d2l, labs aren't bad at all, and there is a weekly homework reading quiz but pretty easy, its also good to have so its not all exam based. Exams arent too bad either, I just reviewed the slides then I was good. I recommend him for this course, I would take him again.
This prof was rude to me when I missed a class due to medical reasons. He wouldn't answer a single email to make up a quiz even though I had a doctors note. His tests were so hard and I listened and took notes in every class. His lectures don't make sense and what he talks about is never on the exams.
Extremely HARD tests and homework. 100-question final exam. Don't take em trust.
Pagan would have the easiest class at WCU if his tests weren't odd. They are rarely on the material we actually went over, which can lead to test scores from low 70's-mid 90's. Labs are easy A's that will carry your grade, and homeworks are gonna round everything out. Early EC and non mandatory attendance make this class worth taking.
Enjoyed his BIO100 class.
Dr. Pagan's class was very difficult. His lectures are hard to understand (and get out of bed for) and he tends to get distracted and go off topic. The tests are difficult and you won't pass without using Google. For his labs, all of the questions are on quizlet so just google those and you'll be fine. He's a nice guy and good at answering emails.
Dr. Pagan is a sweet professor A few notes:GET EXTENDED TIME ON TESTS if you can His tests are really heavy and the first time around I spent more time trying to figure out his questions then answering them Lab attendance is mandatory Lecture is not Most lab answers are online, read HW chapter and you'll be okay. Tests are ahead of class material.
Dr. Pagan is a very nice professor and genuinely cares about you. His test are very hard to study for, a lot of questions aren't even on the notes, but you can take them online. The labs are mandatory and pretty easy to cheat on using chatgpt, or google. Homeworks are also hard. Make sure to do the extra credit in the begining it will save you
DO NOT READ OR BUY THE TEXTBOOK. WASTE OF TIME!!!! Tests are nothing like what is taught in class. Labs and hw quizzes will carry your grade. Honestly, no need to go class.
The tests have NOTHING to do with the lectures and tests are IMPOSSIBLE. I spent more time trying to figure out what he was saying in his questions than solving them. He is so rude in emails and never takes accountability for mistakes on his part. Lectures are pointless. Find a different professor for your own good.
He only took attendance in the bio lab, I was in a 200+ lecture so that may be the reason. I stopped showing up to class end of September because he would just read off the slides so I took my notes on my own time. People always complain about him having an accent, he is easy to understand so i dont understand why that was such a big deal.
Attendance isn't mandatory and he just reads off the slides, so you can just take notes on your own. The tests are complicated though and not really on what he teaches. Make sure to read the chapters in the textbook because that will help you more. Labs are easy As and homeworks are easy also. Make sure to do the extra credit at the beginning.
Great professor who just wants his students to be interested in his content. Makes lots if jokes that you may not find funny but it helps keep you interested in lecture-heavy classes. Lecture attendance was not taken EVER but LAB attendance is mandatory. Nice and routine layout week to week.
His notes are a little disorganized, but don't get overwhelmed. As long as you go to his class and listen to what he says and reviews notes, you'll be good for the test. His tests has questions that are meant to trick you, but if you go to class, he will hint those trick questions to you. Don't study definitions, but instead understand the concepts
told me i was lying about a family member passing away out of nowhere, told me i would not succeed in his class and that he'd see me again next semester. very rude in emails. hard to understand. doesn't own up to mistakes or rudeness
For an entry level biology class, this was genuinely such a hard class for no reason. The exams were online but so hard, sometimes things on the exam were things we had not learned yet. He would randomly give ec if you came to class... so go as much as you can. Lab was all online and pretty easy... weekly hw was hard too... def had to read book
Dr. Pagan was so fun to have as a lab professor. He always came to class with a smile on his face and a clear passion for his work
While Professor Pagan's classes can be challenging, using study tools like unstuckstudy alongside the textbook and diligent attendance can really help. The exams are tricky, but engaging with the material makes a big difference.
