Sometimes she is a little crazy but all math teachers are. She gives a lot of extra credit and opens up math xl before quizzes so you can fix your homework
She only goes out of the book and confuses more than clarifies when questions are asked.
Nice professor, she collects some of the hw she assign. Lots of extra credit, some times unclear when she explains the problems, but always willing to resolve hw problems in class and gives great help at office hours. To get good grades go to class and do all the hw and extra credit.
Very unhelpful, does not make nay sense when she is teaching. I would advice taking math with another teacher if you can.
She has a strange way of teaching, it isn't clear and very confusing and she moves on without anyone in the class understanding. When it comes time for tests or finals, she's telling us we should've already known this, how would we know it if we didn't know throughout the semester?
i absolutely hate math but she teaches it really well and is always willing to clarify if you have any questions so don't hesitate to ask her something if you're lost. as long as you go to class (attendance is mandatory anyway) and take notes you'll do well.
Shes really really nice and wants you to understand the material, but she just doesn't know how to teach. I got the A, but luckily I took precalc already and had my old notes. Straight from the textbook, she frequently makes errors on the board and has no idea what she is doing herself.
Suuuuper nice lady, teaches ok not phenomenal but what you see in class is what's on the test and she'll help you our if you shot any interest and be remotely pleasant. I would def. take her again.
Great professor. She's super nice and will take the time to help you until it's crystal clear to you. What you see in class is what is on the tests. She's also slightly lenient on the exams - if you get a ques wrong she'll still give you pts for the work. She's very helpful and I would recommend her to anyone.
She is the worst teacher you can have in any math course. Her voice already makes you want to leave the class. Her HW assignments are given on MyMathLAb, which is why they take so long, and with the notes in from class, you can't do any pf the problems!! Attendance is mandatory as well!!!
I have her now and I dread going to class. She makes a lot of mistakes and doesn't seem prepared for class. She knows what she's talking about but teaches it in the most roundabout ways. The class is taught as a review so thank god I took precalc and calc in the past or else I'd be failing.
I have her now and I dread going to class. She makes a lot of mistakes and doesnt seem prepared for class. She knows what she's talking about but teaches it in the most roundabout ways. The class is taught as a review so thank god I took precalc and calc in the past or else I'd be failing. Dont take this class if you havent yet taken its equivalent
She's pretty annoying, her voice is so squeaky..her notes are alright but the lectures are boring and she goes through them pretty quickly. Tests are always harder than the hw, and she doesn't even create them herself. Does give extra credit points and drop lowest grade but still not an easy A
I really like her. she's always really nice and friendly. the material is easy if u already took the equivalent course. shes so tiny n cute!
She's an awful teacher. She goes through about 4 sections of a chapter a day and her tests are extremely hard. If your not too sharp in Math don't even consider taking this class with her.
Her notes are alright but the class is boring. She kinda confuses you when she explains the information. Shes very nice and helpful but i honestly did not like the way she taught the material.
she is great and very helpful but you have to ask for it...is very easy to get an A with her
This was my second time taking PreCal and she made it so much easier to understand. She only teaches you what you need to know and she's always willing to help. This class a little boring but so easy!
I HATED calculus with a passion before taking this class, now I actually understand it a lot better. She isn't the greatest teacher but definitely one of the better options. Honestly if you do badly in her class its probably because you didn't ask enough questions, she will literally go over everything. Cares about how we do and really nice lady!
Exams are impossible to finish even if you study. Seems like she doesn't know the material and is very confusing while attempting to teach. My tutor was better than her. Don't take her if you're not strong in math or don't already know the material.
No matter how often you go to class (I didn't miss a day all year) it is extremely difficult to understand her unclear way of teaching. Class goes way too fast and details are not explained thoroughly. Avoid this class.
Absolutely the best math teacher I've ever had. She really knows her stuff and is great at explaining. The material itself is hard but thats the case for all pre-cal classes. You definitely need to study for the exams but if you put in the time you will definitely pass.
Not very clear. Makes a lot of mistakes and doesn't explain well. But If you practice the problems and teach yourself a bit, tests are very fair and an A is definitely attainable.
Sweet prof. Very helpful. However, if you are not good at math do not take w/ her. She goes thru material too quick. Honestly super nice but can't teach math easily. Fair tests, hw, final & ex credit. Book not needed but attendance taken every class. She's always willing to help. Printable notes were the best thing any professor has ever done.
It was an easy class but I still don't care for her style. She does give you until the end of the semester to catch up on HW which is really nice. But she assigns hard tests and awkwardly speeds through notes outlines (my class didn't even have a textbook which was annoying).
If you are not good at math avoid her, the homework's are super long and the tests are pretty hard
Ms. Perez is a really nice lady, but she is very unclear and often gets confused on the material that she is teaching. She assigns way too much homework making it hard to study for the tests. Pretty unorganized. Do not take this class with her if you want to get an easy A or good grade in general.
Nice and cares about students. Tests arent bad if you actually study and are department made. I'm not the best at math and I have an A. Gives alot of online homework which can be annoying. However, she gives alot of extra credit (30 points) which can help a bad test grade. She explains things thoroughly in class and always answers any questions.
I took Calc 1 in high school and this class is still hard. Not very clear. Too much homework. She gives a lot of extra credit but it won't be enough. Don't expect to get an A with little effort
Avoid this class at all costs. I am finishing up the semester with her now and I regret taking her as a teacher every time i walk into the classroom. She's very unclear and although i've attended almost every class, I am still lost. You're screwed for tests if you're not good at teaching yourself. A lot of homework. She's a frazzled mess.
she is really nice and cares for her students, is a hard class.. with lots of homework.
She tends to not be clear when explaining things during class but is very helpful if you see her during office hours. If I had not taken this class during high school I think it would have been a struggle to understand some of the harder material. Very nice woman though and she does give extra credit assignments.
I honestly, would not recommend taking a class with her. Besides that she gives as much as 4 homework's per week, and each one of them takes u 2 hours. She also has this idea to give quizzes on Fridays after class. She makes no sense, i really encourage you to choose another professor.
I absolutely love Mrs. Perez. Anyone that would say something negative about her as a person is an idiot. She is the nicest person you will ever meet. She is very fair, offers opportunities for extra credit, and plays no favorites in her class. She is very knowledgable and gives her all during office hours. I've taken 3 of her courses
Terrible teacher, tries to be friendly but doesn't understand the course she is teaching. Most of the time you just watch her do math problems, and half of the test review answers she gives are wrong. DO NOT TAKE
Terrible teacher. She makes topics more confusing than they are and is unsure of herself most of the time. Her tests are a lot harder than her review sheets. She is a nice person but overall not a good teacher at all.
i have had uber drivers that could teach better math than this lady horrible teacher the homework takes forever DO NOT TAKE
This is the worst teacher I have ever had in my entire school life ! She speeds through notes & doesn't bother to explain how problems are solved or what they mean but instead just shows her own work on example problems . She is unclear in her explanations, and unnecessarily complicates things. Gives crazy amounts of HW and reviews never match test
Perez is a great teacher! I didn't understand Calc one bit during high school, and she made everything very clear!! Just pay attention during lectures and ask questions if you don't understand. Online HW problems for each lesson. She dropped lowest test to be replaced w/final exam grade. Highly recommend; would take again!
Such a sweet lady! She's not the best at explaining some topics in class, but if you're confused, just go to office hours and she'll really help you with whatever you need! I don't know how students can dislike her- she honestly cares about her students and wants them to do well. Just expect A LOT of homework. She's a lenient grader too. :)
She has a pretty thick accent so sometimes it's hard to understand what she's teaching. Also, sometimes when you ask for more help, she doesn't listen to the question and it's even more confusing.
Her voice is pretty agitating and she repeats the same phrases over and over (i.e "in other words" "okay, and question" yes, without the s ) but she knows what she's talking about. she gives a lot of extra credit and allows you to re-do homework/drops homework until the end of the semester. It is not a hard class if you pay attention.
I didnt like her at all. She goes SUPER fast, if youre not good at math do yourself a favor and dont taker. She is the kind that she crams material when theres like 5 min left of class& doesnt end up explaining that lesson well. She gives a ton of hw online, theres about 4 quizzes. Her tests are long for the time you get to complete them
You have teach yourself the material. She teachers very quickly and has irritating mannerisms (repeats same phrases over and over). She expects you to already know everything. The homework is way harder than the examples presented in class.
She's honestly a very sweet lady; however, I'm not a huge fan of her teaching style. She rushes through lessons, and she messes up the answers in class sometimes so it can be confusing if you already have no idea about what's going on. She gives too much damn homework. It's honestly annoying. Really sweet lady though & she does give extra credit.
She seems very kind but not the best teacher. If you are not good at math I would not recommend her. If you are, she is an okay choice. She gives a lot of homework and extra credit
I'm not an amazing math students, but I took her for 2 semesters and got an A for both. Sometimes her lectures can get confusing, but if you pay attention during class and take advantage of office hours, you should be fine. She's obviously very good at math and loves what she's doing. She genuinely wants her students to do well.
Worst accent ever. Sounds like I'm listening to a blender blending nails together. She doesn't even know math well at all; gets things wrong all the time. She's sweet and nice, but she is a awful teacher. AVOID AT ALL COSTS I am telling you honestly. She needs to leave the school ASAP. idk how she stays here when kids can't learn from her. Disgrace
She has a strong Miami accent (spanglish) but I actually think that it makes her more approachable. Her lectures are pretty good, can be boring, but pretty clear. She is really nice, and offers a little bit of extra credit, and out of class study sessions before exams. There is a lot of homework, but she lets you go back and correct past due date.
Not the best teacher. Teaches too fast. Does t do a good job at explaining especially in terms of the rules of the math you're doing. Doesn't go back to slow things down.
Mrs. Perez is an incredibly sweet lady and a good teacher. She has a pretty fair grading scale and takes homework and attendance into consideration. She aims to give harder homework problems to make the tests easier, but the tests are still difficult. Hard class, but I learned a lot. Also, you don't really need to buy the textbook.
She's literally the nicest lady ever. Gives a lot of homework but it's easy and will help you on the exams. The exams are straightforward and not complicated if you do the homework. Her office hours are a good idea because she explains everything perfectly there and will answer all of your questions. I can't stress enough how nice she is.
She speeds through the complex topics and goes into far too much detail on simple concepts. When you ask a question she just repeats whatever she already said in the exact same way. She doesn't give you notes, she just does problems in class and expects you to learn from that. The only way to study is the homework. No extra resources are provided.
She is an amazing human. She moves fast because she has to and it's UM, but she will always stop and help. GO TO OFFICE HOURS, that is how you will connect with her and she will bend over backwards to help you. She is just incredible and makes you want to work hard. I did not do great but I am TERRIBLE at math and she did her best to truly help me.
Definitely would not recommend Perez to anyone. She is very unclear and rushes through material. Switch to Beverly if possible, much better teacher overall.
Ms. Perez is very accessible outside of class and has great notes/lectures for students to follow. Honestly there is no reason or excuse you would not do well in this course as you are literally given everything you would need to do well, with notes, accessibility, and homework. Tests were hard-ish i guess if you never showed up or don't work hard.
pretty easy because theres lots of easy homework
I am very bad at math and have spent the last two semesters in her office hours. Perez really, really wants her students to succeed (will stay late, do problems with you..). She is great, makes me want to work hard to make her proud :') tests can be difficult but she will try so hard if she sees you working. Best pep-talks!
Very fast teaching, doesn't care if you're keeping up. Not always there for help. And definitely a tough grader!
Easy homework. She remember everyone and always give you feedback. You can figure your problems on this course easily by her suggestion.
amazing teacher, 100% take her. she goes fast but she wants to see you do well. learns all her students and cares about them. she assigns a lot of homework but the tests are fairly easy.
I really didn't enjoy the class. She is okay as a teacher but is often hard to understand. She doesn't sync her writing and talking so it's confusing to follow her lectures. Be sure to sit on the left side of the room (close to the board), because it's hard to see from the right side. Lectures are easier if you print out the notes in advance.
MTH107 is brutal, and she does not make it any better. But, she is very smart and knows what she is teaching. If you go to her office hours, you'll probably do much better. Otherwise, you really have to study, get 100s on all the homework, and do the extra credit to do well!
Gives a lot of homework which is easy and helps with your grade. However, she doesn't explain well and if you don't have a strong math or calculus background, you're going to have to teach yourself.
She is a decent professor. Her class will be alot easier to take if you are good at math but if you arent, she offers plenty of office hours. It is kind of hard to follow during class so office hours are a necessity. I had a C for most of the semester but ended up with an A- bc of the final exam. I would cautiously recommend her. The HW is hard!!!
She is just a flat-out bad teacher sorry. Goodbye! Don't ever take. Stand clear!
She is not very good at explain what she is doing and is very unapproachable
Profesor Perez is a really hard teacher, but in the context of 140/141 profs shes definitely not the worst. Her classes are earlier and shes understanding about being late to class. Also if youre able to take MTH 161 instead Id highly recommend. Tutors at Camner told me 140/141 is harder than 161. This class goes in depth on useless topics.
Perez does not explain what she's doing, she just does the problems and you have to teach yourself. She also constantly made mistakes in her lectures and even on exams that the class had to correct. If you already have a strong foundation, this class is super manageable. But if you struggle in math, do not take her!!
Perez is the worst teacher I've had- everyone IK is struggling in this class. Way too much online HW and her packets aren't helpful at all to learn material. She doesn't teach the rules and conditions of concepts and just says "do this". No problems have equal grading on a test, range from 2-16 pts. HW questions nothing like test. DO NOT TAKE HER
Perez was the worst teacher I have ever had. She teaches way too fast and gets angry with students when they ask her to clarify what she meant. She has lots of office hours but is always hostile and unhelpful when you go to ask questions. She also will tell you your grade and how you are doing, and then proceed to give you a worse grade. DON'T TAKE
Do not take this class with her unless you're good at self-learning! I'm not exaggerating when I say there wasn't a single class I learned something from her, I've had to teach myself using Youtube/Khan Academy all along. She goes over topics way too fast and just assumes you know everything. Seems like a nice lady but a very bad job teaching.
I cannot stress this enough, Oneida Perez was hands down THE WORST TEACHER I have ever had. Her attendance was mandatory, and I'm not exaggerating when I tell you I did not learn a single thing from her. Thank god for youtube, mathlab question walkthroughs, and other online platforms. Just terrible. NO SYMPATHY WHATSOEVER FOR COVID 19 CRISIS
This professor only works out the problems in class. She doesn't really take the time to explain what she is doing. If you have to take her class I recommend you already have a strong math foundation, do all your homework, don't skip class, and GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS. If she sees that you are working hard she will help you.
I had Perez for mth 140/141. She goes quickly through her lectures and gives a lot of homework. I am terrible at math, But she has a ton of office hours and will sit with you going through every problem and answers all questions you ask in class. It's A TON of effort, but if she sees you really trying, she will give you a good grade
Really bad math professor. She just tells the steps of what she's doing but doesn't actually explain. She's so busy trying to speed through lectures that we don't learn anything. I wish I could take someone else. I'm not good at math but she makes it even worse considering this is COLLEGE ALGEBRA. Background knowledge helps.
She just does the problems without explaining what she's doing and is constantly rushing through the material.
This teacher was just awful. She is rude, unprofessional, mean and full of hatred. I would not recommend her at all. Stay away and beware!!! Worst teacher ever. She should learn about kindness and how to treat students properly.
she just does problems without explaining the methods and moves VERY VERY fast. I consider myself to be alright at math, and when she teaches I get even more confused. She messes up problems quite a bit in class, and will move on to a completely new unit and FINISH it before she even tests the class on the unit prior. I would not recommend.
She doesn't explain topics, just works out problems on worksheets, and often gets gets confused abt what she's teaching. She makes you buy the textbook to get access to the homework website so you have to drop some $. Takes attendance at the beginning of class and only gives 2 absences. The homework is always harder than what was done in class.
I do not recommend AT ALL. She doesn't explain anything, just flies through a million example problems all class. When she is teaching she makes many mistakes and often has to be corrected by students. I had to teach myself everything through YouTube videos. Her office hours are only online. Exams are difficult. Nobody likes the class.
Worst teacher I have ever had in the Academy for Advanced Academics. Because of her, I wake up every day with stress and anxiety. I recommend you to never take her AP Calculus class; you will suffer.
The homework is always harder than what was done in class. It was not a good experience. She explains the questions too quickly and makes the test on something she has never even shown the class. Can't miss class either because you will miss a lot of content.
I took the class five years ago and I still remember how much I struggled with this class. While the teacher had a lot of office hours, the content was difficult. I struggled with the tests and also understanding the concepts. She goes too fast over the questions.
