Orlando is great in class and is very open to helping you understand. He wants you to go see him and receive help. If you have the opportunity to take him DO IT! His tests are easy if you have done the HW and read the book. And if you do poorly go see him. He wants to work with you. He is the kind of professor that the MET department needed.

Group HW that affects your own personal grade, so if someone messes up, your own grade is affected. Test have nothing to do with what lectures are. Group project worth a test grade. Hard too understand and rants 50% of the lecture about how he's there to teach students how to "be engineers" instead of actually teaching. Too many BS assignments...

The course is super intensive and you will struggle. On the bright side Professor Ayala is one of the most caring profs you will encounter at ODU. He is available at all times to answer questions and give feedback and he even gives his cell phone number out so you can text him for faster responses. Make sure you attend the lecture.

This class killed my 4.0 (2 semesters from grad) BUT it was my fault because I did the bare min to get by. Take a lighter course load if you hope to do well so you can really focus and digest his class.

You def have to earn your grade. Enthusiastic, keeps it interesting, & wants you to succeed. Always willing to help. Good thing is most students get an A or a B, and there are plenty of chances for extra credit. The class will push you but if you put in the effort, you'll do well. Chegg & cheating will hurt you so beware. Overall great teacher :)

Dr. Ayala is an awesome professor, he is enthusiastic about his respective topic and easy to reach outside of class. He is easy to talk to about grades and the course. However, his exams will make you reconsider engineering. He is a HARSH grader and an even harsher critic. But he is a good man there to do his job. You will get back what you give.

He can't decide if its a Fluid Mechanics, Senior Capstone, or Project Management course. He's very smart, very capable of teaching (when staying on task), and the book and HW problems are sufficient. Exams are detached from the class/HW and take 8+hrs. The project uses concepts from the course but requires much more that isn't. Teach Fluid Mech!

The class is not difficult, but it certainly demands A LOT of time between HW, tests, and the semester-long group project. The tests are easy to score well on if you follow his instructions and there are tons of options for EC. He's very passionate but can sometimes come off as having a superiority complex. Be wary if working a full-time job.

Dr. Ayala's fluid mechanics class is one that requires a lot of dedication from the student but prepares them exceptionally well for real-world engineering. The tests use clear grading rubrics and many sources of extra credit are provided. Make sure to manage your semester so that it's not stacked up with other 'weed out' classes like Thermo.

If you lack self-discipline and drive, you better take MET330 with someone else because you will not survive. He is easily the most supportive and effective professor I have had at ODU thus far.

Tests nearly require reaching out to prof to get hints to complete tests. Tests are 1 or 2 questions. Grades on specific steps to complete problems, but those steps are not given to student. Test problems are out of left field and are not typical heat transfer problems, this makes it challenging to prepare for or get help for them.
