Can be disorganized however lets you turn in a rough draft of papers and than gives you suggestions on changes needed to be made. Make the changes and you can get an A on every paper. I would take him again!
Horrible professor! Run do not take the class. I wish I would have not
ONLINE COURSE: DOES NOT RESPOND TO EMAIL, IS NOT CONSISENT WITH PUTTING UP ASSIGNMENTS, DOES NOT GRADE SOME ASSIGNMENTS UNTIL END OF SEMESTER. RUN!!!!!
He never returns your email, you never get your stuff graded, and he gives you assignments unevenly. At the last month you have 2 essays and then a 3rd essay. Both are 1,000 and 700 words within 1 month of the entire semester. I would not recommend him to anyone. He is very discouraging and doesnt seem to enjoy teaching.
IS NOT CONSISTANT AT ALL!!!! DOES NOT STAY UP TO DATE WITH GRADING!!! DO NO TAKE HIM, FIND ANYONE ELSE AND YOU WILL DO GOOD, NOT THIS TEACHER!!! RUN FAST FROM THIS ONE!!!
Took Comp II online. Didnt think it was a bad class. Then again taking Prof. Horn for Comp 1 is what got me through this class. I got an A but unless you had a good Comp 1 teacher maybe you should take someone else.
heS REALLY REALLY EASY
The best teacher I've ever had. I learned a lot and I loved going to his class.
He is very enthusiastic about his subject but is still trying to find his ground. He is still working on what works for him. For this reason classes are a bit disorganized. He is very open to discussion and wants to encourage it. His work load is not hard; what is neat is that he lets his students be creative in their interpretation.
AVOID HIM. He is very unorganized and gives assignments at the last minute! He cannot even keep track of YOUR GRADE. I made As in his class but somehow ended up with a C! He failed to resolve or even address the issue. You will not get the grade you thought you were going to get if you take him. Terrible ethics.
He's the best!
I thought he was the best teacher ever! He is a little disorganized with the grades and how soon they are available to you but he is so enthusiastic about what he does and he encourages everyone to give their perspective of stories and really no answer is wrong when discussing stories. Highly recommended and the class isn't boring either
I absolutely loved this guy. He made English so much more interesting. I agree that at times he was somewhat disorganized, but he always kept you informed on how you were doing. Very motivational and inspiring!! Take him! You will thoroughly enjoy him!
Wonderful instructor!!Hands down the best professor I've ever taken...Absolutely loved Mr.Pizana.His class is fairly easy and he makes the class very interesting and fun.I especially was impressed with how he interacted with his students and encouraged everyone to participate.
Although there was a lot of writing, it was easy if you read the material. THis teacher is passionate about his work, and easy to get along with if you're there to learn. Very understanding if you have personal issues.
took online class, there was a lot of writing but it was interesting. i liked the class, just keep up with your assignments and you will do fine.
At first I really dreaded taking this class expecially online I thought it was going to be so much work and a bunch of stuff that I wasnt interested in. Come to find out it was actually a decent class. Although he doesnt read emails quickly or grade assigments if you do the work you will end up with an A.
took his online comp II class... very easy... there is a lot of writing but its a comp class wht do u expect.... everything u do is easy though... good thing he is a little disorganized so he doesnt notice if u turn things in late or just doesn't care.... i would deff RECOMMEND HIM!!! TAKE THE ONLINE CLASS.... U WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!
I like Pizana. Even though he was a little unorganized he made comp 2 very interesting. He doesnt give much work itss just time comsuming. Hes really cool. I would take this class again.
Awesome Teacher! Although he can be unorganized at times, he is very easy and helps you with anything. Great discussions, tells you exactly what's going to be on tests, grades easily. I'm taking him again for Comp 2!!! Take him!
Great teacher except that the actual state exit exam is totally different than what you learn in class. Yes we had review of the state test 2-3 weeks prior, but I think we could of gone over more items that were actually on the test. Also I think we should of practiced more essay writing in class without a group.
I like the way he teaches, but he is not good at being a helpful teacher! He is easy, but he takes months to grade your work, or does not grade it at all! And he wont awnser emails so you have to talk after class. I would take again maybe, but never online!
His class is hard- he gives assignments every week+ tests+ quizes+ essays. There are easier teachers, I am sure. He didnt grade all of the assignments by the end of the semester, so you are not sure about your grade during the semester. I admit, he is passionate about his class, it is interesting, but a lot of work.
This teacher should not be teaching. He would post assigments in the middle of the week or not at all. Didnt grade anything untill the end of the semester. Didnt follow syllaubs, and doesnt return emails in a timely fashion. Dont take him. His grades said that I had an A and somehow I ended up with a C at the end of the semester. Horrible!!!!
The class was easy and Mr. Pizana always made group discussions interesting! Tests were easy as well as long as you "study" for them; he gives you hints of what will be on the test (take notes). However, know this too, this teacher's grading skills can use a bit of work! I would recommend this class!
I had Mr. Pizana for Comp II and he was hard but fiar. He made me interested in literature and his lectures were never boring.. Take him if you want to learn about literature from an interesting teacher.
His teaching quality was acceptable. He often has exams that pop up in the middle of the week with no warning. I didn't get my midterm grade until the last week of class. He is a really slow grader!
Pretty cool person, not a great teacher. 600 words in online writing assignments a week, I'm at the end of the semester and don't have more than half my assignments graded yet, and I've been asking for my overall grade in emails for weeks with no response and when I asked him in person he told me to email him about it. I wouldn't take it again.
I've taken several online classes and this was one of the worst organized ones. We would get assignments at the beginning of the week but then once we did them, they wouldn't be graded for weeks. Sometimes a quiz would pop up a couple days before it is due with no warning. I didn't even get my mid-term or essays graded until after my Final EXAM!
I would highly recommend this professor. He is hilarious, and very dramatic with his lectures, he is also extremely interactive. All of the stories he picks are relevant to problems in today?s society, and he does a good job at explaining the stories. His quizzes were pretty easy because he let us choose the stories we wanted to cover, some are don
he also let us compose our own midterm and final. The paper was 1000 words and it wasn?t too hard, he gave us PLENTY of time to complete it (all semester). The assignments are equivalent to about 500 words a week but they are so SIMPLE and he isn?t too strict on deadlines. He is horrible at grading things promptly, although if you do your work then
Warning: he doesn't grade til late in semester. Bright side: he grades for content, not perfection. Easy A if you do your work. He explains which stories will be on each quiz, & what you need to know. Appx 1-2 stories discussed/read in class each week + 250wd for each story due on ANGEL. I suggest reading before class; he will ask questions.
Since he doesn't grade til late in the semester, he doesn't make a big deal about deadlines, even though he has them posted. Classes are pure discussions and taking minimal notes for your own benefit. Don't be overwhelmed by his loudness, you get used to it. He's funny too. Oh, and he'll call on you to answer questions, so read before class!
Professor Orlando is just great. If you graduated from high school in the 80's take him. I took comp 1 in 1997. Forget comp 2,however, he breaks down all the literature for you to understand. If names like Poe or Shakespeare scare you, fear no more it's like learning your A<B<C's. I not only enjoyed coming to class but learned a whole lot.
I took him for Comp 1 and 2 online. I got an A and a B. He does not grade until the last minute and late work is accepted for full credit. Don't bother trying to email him...he doesn't even read it. The class is very easy and you don't even need the book for Comp 2. I just found all the stories online and did the work that way.
Though it does take him a while to grade your work, he does offer a lot of help with his teachings. I took his class online in the summer semester. I was nervous because I hadn't taken comp. since fall of 07, but he made it easy to understand, and chose stories that were actually enjoyable. I suggest him to anyone looking for a great comp. teacher.
I love Pizana. I had him for comp. II and i'm taking his american lit class just for fun because i liked him so much.
Awsome
Took this class online. Very easy material. If you are organized at all this teacher is not for you. He disappeared for several weeks without posting assignments or grades, and then reappeared with shortened due dates from what the syllabus originally stated. I would have been angry if any of it was hard.
Love him! I graduated two years ago and transfered to another school, miss his teaching every semester. his class is worth the delayed grading.
I did not really talk to the teacher often but he does respond quickly. The course work is simple. Prof Pizana chooses great texts to read from. There is quite a bit of writing but it is easy. Overall excellent class. If I had to take another english class, I would choose Pizana.
Absolutely wonderful teacher. Really gets into the literature and cares about what the students think. He never tells students that they are wrong with their opinions on the covered works. Very friendly :) Recommended.
He is amazing. He was very passionate about everything he does and he really knows how to pull you into the situations. I had him for Composition 2 and we only wrote 1 paper and we read the most interesting stories that everyone at some point or another can relate to. He will shock and awe you! I would recommend him to anyone!
Great professor.. very animated and makes difficult literature as easy as if it were Dr Seuss..makes SPC seem like a REAL college.. very nice guy, unless you're disrespectful, then he will make you look like an a$$.. which is enjoyable for all the other students.. too bad he doesnt teach math.
He has great lectures. But you never know how you are doing is his class because he doesn't grade your work till the end of the semester AFTER you take the exam. You don't any get feedback on your essays or assignments.
Probably one of my favorite teachers that I have had at SPC. You can tell he loves what he teaches and he is very good at making very old literature interesting. Highly recommend!
This class was done online and my first one online., I found him extremely interesting he was very precise with what our work was supposed to be done. I highly recommend him, the only problem was that he did not get back to you right away , but his class was worth it.
I thought this professor was excellent . He gave us great short stories to read. He was online , however the only problem is that he takes awhile to get back to you.
Excellent teacher, all of the readings and teachings are helpful and he's more than willing to help if you have problems. Would recommend. Only problem he has is that he takes quite a bit of time to grade work, but other than that, excellent class.
Do not take him, he gives assignments in which do not pertain to what he teaches in class and is very unclear about his papers, gives no feedback on Angel and makes my particular class come in on a day that we did not sign up for. Pizana is very unorganized.
This teacher is a joke. he makes us come in on a day we are not scheduled, he does not grade assignments or give any feed back. He will give papers and than not even ask for them for weeks later. he is the worst teacher ive ever had. do not take him dont listen to all these people saying they like him. he sucks at his job as being a teacher
Great Online class for Comp II! Quizzes and assignments are easy! Midterm was simple as well! I highly recommend you take Mr. Pizana online! Not much involved. We had 1 essay to do and it was easy as well.
I am unsure why people have such bad remarks to say about Pizana. He is a very good teacher. He reads with the class and explains things in depth. I really enjoy going to his class. He does get behind in grading, but thats because he is teaching multiple classes. I would DEFINATELY go to his class if i were you!
Professor Pizana is very in depth, and gets the class very involved in discussions, and understanding the text to a tee. Attend every class and do the work, an A is easy. On the other side, he is extremely slow at grading things, and seems like he likes to hear the sound of his own voice.
Fairly easy class. Does take awhile to get back to you on grades. Read and discuss stories in class. I enjoyed this class and the professor.
In-depth and provided an insight into readings I would have never read. He was extremely respectful of everyone?s perceptions and feelings; his passion is contagious but stay on top of your readings and assignments. I would not have enjoyed the class half as much with any other professor. I was extremely impressed and strongly recommend his class.
This teacher is unprofessional and sloppy. He made us buy more books then required then we didnt use them. He did not even get through half of the syllabus. He didnt grade ANY of our assignments until after the final.
Too many assignments and discussions. Don't take this class online cause you will have a lot of literature writing assignments. This class is TOO HARD ONLINE!
had him for comp 2, he had graded everything up till the midterm, i had really good grade, even got positive feedback from him, didnt have alot of assignments past the midterm, felt very confident that i was going to pass, but when i checked my transcript and is said F, so i dont recommend taking his class online! im not very happy about it at all!
Just took him for Comp 2 and i would NOT recommend him at all! Does not grade anything until the end and before the class was over with, took everyone off angel so there was no way to contact him with any questions. He was always late to class and didn't follow syllabus. Take someone else if possible.
Ok, so he is really late at grading and giving feedback BUT I would not avoid this class as the other person said regardless. if you want to learn about the material he is very good at breaking it down and class discussions are interesting. I learned a lot and if you hand everything in you should do ok. but if you need grades right away its not 4u
This professor is also studying so he understands what it is to work and study at the same time. Will let you turn in assignments late if you let him know. Very clear and knows the subject a lot. All discussion foruns are college mandatory so be prepared to write. Gave students his personal cel phone and will help you anytime if you have questions.
He was a breath of fresh air. Took the course online. Got an easy A
Took this professor face-to-face. I will say that he has a great interest in what he is teaching, and knows the material well. However, I would not reccomend him. He is not oraganized, doesn't grade work until the last day of class then deletes Angel so you have know idea why or how you got your grade, is not approachable, and is defensive.
Would not grade my work until the last minute, waits 5 minutes before class to reply to my emails, short tempered.
He has a great amount of passion for what he is teaching, and understands the material very well. I would not recommend taking him though. He is very unorganized, and doesn't grade your work until the very last minute. He also doesn't respond to emails very quickly.
good professor. interesting. does not appreciate cellphones/laptops doing noon school work
Professor Pizana is a great teacher and he is very passionate about what he teaches. He doesn't like laptops and cell phones being used during class time unless he tells you to use them. If you participate in class you will pass with a high grade.
I read the reviews after I had already signed up for the class, unfortunately. I am currently still in the class, but I'm just so frustrated. He's been late on a few occasions, including the very first day. He gets an attitude with the students when he doesn't post things on Angel on time. He doesn't respond to emails at all. So unorg
He is a very rude teacher. I do not recommend. He always has a very bad attitude. You cannot yawn, eat, use phones, or anything. He changes the dates to turn in assignments to help you but doesn't grade things.
Professor Pizana loves what he teaches and works to make his students interested. His and Dr Rawa's joint class for IDS is interesting and fun, by far one of my favorites. He brings the literature out to make it interesting to his students and invites open discussions about it. Highly recommend it.
Took 7 weeks to grade an essay. Says on test material, and then puts what he wants. He lets his bad mood affect the class. As a person, hes probobly ok, but he has a lot to learn about being a prof. By the end of the class, I was scared to talk to him because he is very intimidating. Do the work and you may survive.
LOVED HIS CLASS!Took Comp 1 & 2 with him and loved them! He is a great teacher, very passionate and loud. He expects you to pay attention and to answer questions. Downfall, he doesn't grade until the very end of the semester. But he goes over every quiz and test question before you take it to make sure you understand it. I loved it! RECOMMEND HIM!!
Mr. Pizana is very interesting and I love the fact that he plays music during class from time to time it helps lighten the mood a bit. :-)
Working with Dr. Rawa in a combined humanities-literature course, Professor Pizana is a very lively man with plenty of compassion for what he teaches. Loud, clear, and in-depth discussions in which he promotes critical thinking. Awesome guy, very kind (though maybe a little intimidating), and overall a great professor.
Mr. Pizana has a passion for the subject he teaches, however, he does not respond to emails in a timely fashion and takes forever to grade assign. All quiz and test questions come from the stories read, however, you have to remember quotes or subjects within the text to pass the test, stories that you have read 4 weeks prior. not a good online class
He didn't grade in a timely manner and didn't answer emails clearly, but everything on the quizzes and midterms were directly from the chapters we read for class, which I appreciate. I would take another online class from him.
Combined honors course. Wasn't around as much as other professor. Kept students in line more than other professor, however papers were not graded in timely manner when graded by him BUT they were more thoroughly critiqued than other professor, tougher, more honest grade. Short easy discussion posts, quizzes from book, exams from quizzes. Easy A.
I had him for both composition 1 and 2 and was very please with both. He makes class interesting and teaches it in a way that helps you remember the things you are learning. He does not grade quickly but you will know what type of grade you have in the class. I recommend taking his classes!
Few multiple choice questions on final, 2(!) essays, 3 sentences for each question in 2 hours, 1 attempt! 2 big essays thru course, 2 essays (400 words) every week, 3 quizzes with essays and answers in 3 sentences, plus mid-term. Points reduced for late assignment or not accepted, but your work will be checked 3-5 weeks later if you are lucky.
His lectures are so interesting if you participate once in a while, but one thing about this class is clear; YOU HAVE TO PARTICIPATE. I'm talking the lectures, essays, and especially weekly assignments. The worst part about this class is that you don't get accurate feedback for assignments for weeks, even months. Other than that, great teacher.
He had a lot going on during the semester I had him. It was a joint class with another professor, so I didn't see as much of him. He was firm with the students when he needed to be but was still nice. He gave good feedback on papers when he graded them, and his criticisms was spot on.
Took his class online. He is very passionate about Literature but likes others, I do NOT recommend him. I NEVER received grades for anything assigned in class, except 2 papers. You also write well over 6000 words for this class. Exams are hard, makes you remember word for word, the countless stories that are assigned. Its Comp, not brain surgery.
I would NOT recommend this teacher at all. If you email him, he either will not reply or will be on the defense and speak down to you for asking a question. He takes FOREVER to grade your work and doesn't give credit for all assignments. He was by far the worst teacher I've had at SPC so far.
Grading took 4-6 wks. Wkly assignments/discussion boards not graded before need to complete big items, ie essay’s. Poor email response. Grades not posted to the gradebook, was aware from this site of his history of not getting grading completed. Had to follow up with college to get appro. grade as he did not post my last essay grade
Has favorites(which is most likely why he has some good reviews) and normally favors slackers. Questions asking for authors bio, and disinterest in students. Not a happy guy
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! He never grades paper on time. Late email replies! I am 'A' student. Never got 'C' throughout my life but got in his class :( Save your grade and choose different professor.
Teacher was okay. Didn't pass the class due to an essay not being submitted. Make sure you ace the main 2 essays which carries the most weight of the overall grade. You will write a lot of short essays in this class. Be sure to read. Wasn't a bad class but teacher grades late but provides feedback.
Do NOT take this teacher. Taking him online now. He's left things out of the syllabus, has not graded assignments past the first week, and didn't reply to any e-mails from me until recently when I asked him for clarification on something he marked me down on with what amounted to nonsense (but still managed to be condescending!). Amazingly awful.
This guy was one of the rudest and most unorganized professors ive ever encountered. Not only does he not know how to deliver his material but he also makes students feel EXTREMELY uncomfortable during class. Avoid this "teacher" at all cost.
very unorganized and always 3-4 weeks late grading assignments, makes it impossible to know where you stand grading wise until too late. And on top of that he's a very tough grader. Don't take this guy unless you're majoring in English. And does not follow his own syllabus.
If you take this professor, let me just say its not easy. And so is college. However, Pizana may seem intimidating at first, but he is really kind and wants you to succeed. His classes may seem tough, however he knows how to make a point with every lecture. So, if you want an easy A, dont take him. If you want to learn, take him!
This teacher made my Comp II experience miserable. How can someone get 100% on your assignments but make a 20 on a quiz. Looking at the test score graph the scores are all over the place. NOT helpful at all when I came to test scores. Unclear on format or why I was scoring so low. Very disappointed with this teacher.
Pick a different professor! Very unclear, took forever to grade and was tough. A LOT of reading.
The midterm was extremely difficult but the final was harder! He uses single words from stories you've read the entire semester and then you have to tell the story it was from, the character using the word and what was going on. He stopped grading papers after the midterm. I emailed him and it took an email to the department to get grades in.
Do not take him if you want a good grade. I got a B and I got an A in all my other classes. Grades everything at the end so there is no way to tell what your grade is till the last day of the semester.
Really passionate about the subject. He provides numerous examples to make sure students understand. If you participate in class and turn in assignments, you'll be just fine.
Pizana wasn't the easiest teacher but he definitely cared about his students and was very down-to-earth when you spoke to him. He always livened up the classes with his humor. Beware of him picking on you to read or answer his quick questions. But usually he'll settle for any answer you give him. Not the easiest but not the worse. I recommend.
Do NOT take his class online. His tests will include 3 words or phrases from a passage read weeks ago where you are expected to identify them and the context. In addition, he is EXTREMELY hard to get a hold of. There has been a ton of work submitted that he has not got around to grading. This is extremely stressful
He's a good guy but slacks way too much on grading and putting grades in. One day will say on a specific date something is NOT due then when that date comes around, it is due. Kind of stressful but its an easy class just beyond unorganized
First off, he told us NOT to get the textbook for this course, but has continuously referred to it like we should be reading it throughout the semester. He tells students one thing will be on a test and then tests us on something completely different, and takes as long to grade as everyone else is saying. I Only stayed in the class for the credit.
Avoid taking this professor at all cost. I wish I read before the student's feedback. Terrible! It took him two months to grade the assignments. He seems to be carless about his students!
Great professor! Hilarious.
Professor gave ZERO feedback for the call until 2 weeks before the course ended. He failed to answer emails (I sent 1 a week after the first 2 weeks with no grading) He changed the course whenever it seemed to fit him, a test was suddenly posted on a Friday with a due date of Sunday at midnight.
Do not pick this professor, terrible response time! takes weeks to get back to you. Does not grade assignments until last minute of the course end time which is kind of stressful. No feedback no help with anything if needed, kind of arrogant. PLEASE do yourself a favor and stay away from this professors unorganized classes.
Take Prof. P! He's fair, caring, and inspirational!
Simply put: Worst professor I've ever had.
Not a good professor. Takes his time grading things. And his tests/quizzes are part multiple choice, part short answer, and when you submit a quiz it only grades multiple choice questions so for weeks it will look like you have a bad grade because he takes so long to grade the short answer. He's very unorganized and unprofessional.
This is a really bad teacher he grades everything and the end of the semester expects you to be there every day and will do random pop quizzes and wont do anything to help improve your grade dont take this teacher.
Great Professor who takes his job seriously. He actually want you to learn something in his class not just memorize and forget.
Awful teacher. Unorganized, Little to no responses to emails, Grades everything on the last day of the semester, Quizzes are three word quotes that you have to recall from months ago and specify who said it and what text and author it comes from, even half of the assignments are miss dated so either you'r submitting too early or you're too late Ugh
I am just gong to say this: it has been days since I took my final, which had things in it we never talked about and he specifically said was not going to be on the test, and still do not have my final or grades for assignments due in March. Not a good professor, and does not grade based on ideas or plot in the story and instead on random trivia.
Worst Professor Ive ever had. Waited until the last minute to insert grades and wouldnt even reply to my email when asked if he would help me bump my grade because I am an education major. Would never take him again and I would never recommend this professor to anyone. He is never on time with anything and will not help you what so ever.
I really like this Professor. He is funny and interesting. He breaks it down in easy terms . I really enjoyed this class and would take him again.
I have no idea what all the negative comments are about, I took his class and had something personal going on and suffered in class. Ended up failing and he got in contact with me so i could make up work outside the actual semester. GO TO CLASS, he is loud but you get used to it. superb teacher! beyond great!
He is funny and entertaining and appeals to a younger crowd by using examples in pop culture. Downside he takes forever to grade, puts assignments in last minute. Never puts them in when he says he will. If you miss a class and it just so happens that 4-5 people also weren't there expect a pop quiz. Told me I may have EC and never gave it to me
Took forever to grade assignments so I'd enter in the next assignments not aware of what I was doing incorrectly since no feedback was received. I would highly recommend taking any other comp professor
He was a cool teacher but made sure your there every class and actually pay attention. not much test but the ones that there is count! Lots of discussions as well. He let us turn in things late though
I took his online COMP II course. The work wasn't hard & neither were the tests. I did find the stories he provided to be interesting. When it came to emails, he either responded in an untimely manner or not at all. I'd recommend taking another professor that is known for replying to emails from their students.
I made a big mistake taking comp I and II with him. Orlando does not grade things in a timely manner. Graded strictly on my final paper, brought me from a B to a C, and said it was because I plaigarized when I did not and refused to put in my correction. Very rude, Mocked me in front of the class for "Not Speaking Loud Enough" Ridiculous. Skip.
I liked this Professor. He was throughout and explained everything until you understood. Not a lot of tests or quizzes, average I would say. Pay attention, stay off your phone, and you will be fine. I would definitely take another one of his classes.
I regret not dropping out of this class, I didnt get any of my grades in until finals week so I couldnt tell where I stood in the class. Hed spend a full hour and a half talking about absolutely nothing relevant and he taught the same four basic sentence structures for three weeks in a row. Waste of time and money taking his class.
I attempted to get in touch with him NUMEROUS times and was unsuccessful. Its insane how hard i pushed just to receive input from him. After i told him i just wanted to be sure to pass and how he has yet to grade over 4 assignments, he responded i have over 4 different classes and many things to grade, youll be fine. Waste of time
Do not expect feedback,in fact. Just assume you will never hear from him. Took emails to multiple sources and calling to get a response. Multiple weeks waiting. Took 80% of the semester to get anything back graded past week two. For reference, course consists of Discussions, small reading amounts, a couple essays and some ridiculous quizzes/tests
He never responds to emails and never addressed any issues I had. He emailed me once saying "I do not respond to emails on weekends" when I gave him well more than a week to email me back before I emailed him again. He is rude and does not really care if you passed.
He is rude, mean, and does not care for his students at all. I spend weeks waiting for him to post my grades. He does not answer emails on time. This is a potentially easy class but without feedback is hard to improve.
Mr. Orlando is a great professor and his lecture are pretty amazing. The lectures and readings are fun and interesting. The papers are tedious and long but the topics are fun. Mr. Orlando's perspectives on the readings are cool and something new. Mr. Orlando is passionate about his work and really does enjoy it. You have to work hard to make an A !
This is the only teacher in my life that has given be a B. I only took this class to get my pre reqs out of the way. I now go to USF and got a 98 in composition 2. He grades horribly. I had my other professor read my essay he gave me a 70 on at USF and he said it was well worth over a 90He made my GPA go down. This is community college not Harvard.
Awful communication. Would send class-wide emails but would not respond to any emails I sent him. I am a 4.0 student and this class brought my GPA down. Could affect my bright futures scholarship. There are only two papers in the entire class that he grades and they are graded very heavily. Would not recommend it.
Class is discussions, literacy analysis paper, final essay. very hard to reach, extremely unfair grader. We had extra credit opportunities that he did not even give us credit for and closed our final grades. A+ the entire course until he dissects your papers. He cares more about grammar than The actual African-American material. Hes a joke.
Unhelpful, dull, and pompous.
Drop out IMMEDIATELY!!!! He grade like you will become a English Professor at Duke University. He is very rude, doesn't reply to emails in a timely matter and when he does-he's rude. He doesn't grade assignments promptly. He is a very, very, very tough grade. Drop this class now or find another instructor!
He was the GOAT. Hes very professor-ly; I dont really know how else to describe him. Mix of professionalism, and genuine student engagement. Good speaker, and also very knowledgeable about everything in his class (and outside of the course related work). Pretty hard on grading, not because hes strict, but because he actually grades things.
This professor encourages you to participate In class. He will encourage you to raise your hand to answer questions or he calls on students. (The issue is if youre wrong, hell make sure to let you know unprofessionally). The whole class seemed nervous to participate for fear of how he might respond, this made the class environment seem heavy.
I honestly regret taking his class. He does not respond to emails or grades work fast enough. You are honestly better off with a different professor.
Mr. Pizana truly cares about what he teaches, and he also wants you to as well. He also cares about his students. He's not the quickest grader, but if you talk to him, it'll be done sooner. He encourages you to participate, and if you answer one of his unrelated but related questions he has been known to give out gift cards. He is a decent teacher.
Close to the end of the semester several assignments have not been graded. Loved the topics gone over in class but its hard to like the class when you don't know where you stand
Hated this professor. I emailed and texted him, months went by and I never got a response. None of the work on his board was current, it was all from a previous semester. I deserved an A in the class. He took months to grade work and was too harsh, yet never provided feedback. Hes an entitled professor if ive ever seen one.
Lectures are usually very interesting and engaging, he is very passionate about what he teaches. He can be extremely formal, but he is also very polite and understanding. The work load isn't very hard for an English class. He provides very helpful feedback on assignments with correction and make-up opportunities, though he is very slow at grading.
This class is probably easier than any other comp class. Instead of writing tons of papers(there still are a few), we write discussion posts about different stories. This is a professor that cares more about ideas and content than whether or not you forgot a comma in a post. But, lectures can be long and tend to go along with some political topics
Took this as a Live Online class. Professor Pizana's lectures were great. Light workload, just two major papers, and several discussions. Helpful grading feedback. Would recommend!
You just have to pay attention in his class, yes it can be kinda hard you just have to attend to his class at all time. He is a good professor and he does help!! The lectures was kinda average but i like what he talks about so therefore i would like his class. Would take again!!
His classes felt unprepared and his lectures felt tangential and unrelated to the work. I remember him talking about politics and the economy more than how to write an outline. He's a cool guy, but I wish he would've known the time and place to show that. I was more stressed than I should have been due to the lack of instruction on assignments.
Can be challenging if English isn't your strong suit. It is not mine but I still received fair grades. Use the feedback towards papers and upcoming discussions. Do the work on time. Grading takes a while but there are only 2 papers. Participation in discussions is required.
This was an OK class. Not a harsh grader necessarily, but a bit strict. No useful feedback, and Prof Pizana takes a while to grade/get back to students. Lots of reading and then a discussion (or two) for each module. Two major papers. Midterm. Not proctored. Better off taking a different Prof. if English is not your best subject.
Professor Pizana was one of the worst teachers I have had. He grades harshly with little to no explanation as to why points were deducted. His lectures focused on economics and politics. While I understand the importance of education concerning the economy and where it is going, I feel my time was wasted. You can survive his class, but not thrive.
Pizana's class can be challenging, but using resources like unstuck AI alongside the textbook can help. Stay on top of discussions and papers to do well. Overall an OK experience.
All this teacher cares about politics and ensuring you are a Democrat. Everything he says is clearly one-sided and after Trump won the election he said we all needed to do our research better because we clearly didn't since Trump won. I don't see the need to talk about politics in a English class that should be for history. He is a slow grader.
He does not seem to respect his students. He is very rude when he feels like someone did anything (big or small) wrong. He always calls people out in class on the first strike, instead of pulling them aside after class and speaking to them professionally and privately.
Absoulutely Horrible.
Not a bad professor just unrelated to the subject. Should be in politics
All he cares about are politics and does not teach us composition. He constantly targets people within the class and he does a horrible job as a professor. DO NOT take one of his classes!
His class lectures are highly political instead of educational. Instead of teaching composition, he would talk about politics and call on people at random, expecting them to have the same political opinion. He also doesn't respond to emails in a timely manner.
Horrible Professor! Please don't attend his class. Very picky when grading papers. All he does is talk about politics. His class is extremely boring and confusing. he talks low or goes off topic when teaching. Even in emails he will try to correct how u talk. He gets OFFENDED easily! Doesn't explain what you have to do for assignments. Horrible!
