Concepts of Math: frightening. Mr. Nahom: never. His examples were clear, concise, and usually humorous. *GREAT* teacher that's very fair!
incredible teacher..made everything easy to understand..and he's really laid back. "don't call me Nahom...call me Aaron." He doesn't make 8 a.m. physics fun..but he makes it bareable. LOL.
it's a hard and intense course. he goes fast but does not check homework. he does all of the work by himself on the board.
Physics ain't easy but he was a big help in learning it. When i took the class we missed a day or two because of snow and at the end of the semester we had a test and a comprehensive final back to back, no review, no nothing. It was a ball breaker but i
I took this class in the summer. It moved very quickly and required a lot of studying, but I thought Mr. Nahom did an excellent job of explaining things in a way everyone could understand.
I HATE MATH! *BUT* he was probably the best math teacher I've ever had. He somehow got me to understand mostly everything. And he would answer my questions repeatedly without being mean. Which is a definite plus for me. :)
Best teacher ever. Fair, very helpful, down-to-earth. He makes any math easy to understand and takes the time to explain the how's and why's in clear steps. Asking questions in class is never a problem. For non-math people, he is the perfect instructor. GCC is lucky to have such a great professor.
he was a great math teacher.. and he was very clear
Awesome! One of the best math teachers i have ever had! He actually made math interesting and I looked forward to his class every week. I would highly recommend him. I am terrible at math and i understood everything he taught!
His tests are multiple choice which made it much easier then most math classes. He was a very nice teacher who made the concepts easy to understand. I highly recommend taking him for any math class.
Horrible teacher, very unclear! Spends the whole class explaining why it is important and doesn’t teach. He gives lots of test, and grades unfair. I would NEVER take another class with him.
Very unfair, he changes the syllabus half way through the course. Wouldn't recommend you take any classes with him!
An outstanding teacher. It was a summer class very intense but he was clear from the begining that it was going to be. He grades using the curve system. I would reccomend taking him as I will for any furture mathmatics courses.
Its a easy class if you understand each problem he does for hw, hes hard and not an easy grader. Its a fun class and is one of the best teachers I had to date. College isn't suppose to be a piece of cake, and trust me, if you slack off by not doing your h
awesome teacher
Very clear in his teaching. Very helpful - answers any and all questions without making you feel dumb. Takes attendence at END of class so you can show up late!!
Avoid taking him in the morning. Hearing him preach about everything from engineering to the "real world" is tiring. He's real thorough when going over problems and teaching the steps of problems, he was just a little lame at times. If you're not very good at math, take him, otherwise he's a bore and kinda out of touch.
he lectures for the duration of the class each class, but he is very helpful. like every professor he's a crazy guy, but i definitly recommend him. he's very good at making complex things more simple, and his tests are multiple choice which makes things a lot easier.
He is a good teacher, expecially if you are not very good at math, he goes over any questions you have and goes over the processes of the problems clearly.. If you are good in math he seems alittle easy and redundant, but it is an easy A. gives cheat sheet on tests. i thought he was a great teacher. Gives homework but it really helps.
The BEST math teacher I have EVER had. He is extremely clear and genuinely cares about his students and teaching. HIGHLY recommend.
don't take him in the morning.it was so boring for me and he didn't even show up till the last possible second.never managed his time right so if you have a class after his good luck getting there on time.the material is easy but i just lost interest after listening to him lecture about jeans and sneakers.i ddin't like him at all
mr. nahom is the man. he talks about sneakers and jeans when it comes to some math problems but hes cool. he teaches great and very helpful when it comes to class discussions for problems. he is a challenge though. i recommend him.
hes a so-so teacher. not perfect. not horrible. his lectures are very understandable, but when it comes to the testing, the grading and test format is disappointing. not an easy A but possible to get a C in it.
Pretty easy class he taught the class well. I could've gotten an A had i studied but i'll take a B+.
Best Math teacher I had ever had. Tests were a LITTLE hard but they were multiple choice!Come on how hard can that be!? I got a B+ and I'm horrible at math. He also has a sense of humor and he's very understandable. I wish I can take him again!
This Prof is wonderful, so patient, so nice, so smart. I wish I could take him for other classes. Physics is hard, no doubt, but he makes it understandable. No surprises, study and do your homework and you will do well.
A very helpful teacher who takes the time to help students grasp and understand the math he teaches. Extremely patient and cooperative. A test or two felt a little hard, but he provides ample help to help you get a hold of the material. I extremely recommend him as a teacher.
I hate math and I ended up getting a good grade in his class. He is extrememly helpful and clear on the material. its a rough class but he makes it so you can succeed, it seems like he really wants his students to. I def recommend him.
He is great!! I am horrible in math and I got an A. He makes class fun.... I looked forward to going to his class! If you have to take Math make sure you take him! Test are multiple choice and he lets you use a note sheet!
I thought i would never do well in a math class until i took this math course, he really knows how to relay the material being taught in order for his students to comprehend it.
He's definitely a cool guy. He's good at explaining things and getting you to understand. I got a B and I'd take him again.
awesome guy. he is great at explaining things. he inspired me to become a physics major. he really isnt that difficult, there is a lot of calculations, but they are not too bad. if you go to class and pay attention you will probly walk out with an A, I did.and he lets you use cheat sheets on all your test. i wish i could take him for all my classes
He's a good teacher. Gives very good notes. Test are pretty easy. I would def take him again. Very laid back and easy going. Will answer any questions. He grades fairly.
Mr Nahom is the BEST! I didn't really care much for physics but after physics 1 and 2 with him I love it! Hes very passionate about physics and a great teacher! You DEFINATELY have to study but there are no suprises on his tests .. As long as you pay attention in class and review all of your homework problems its GREAT!
Great teacher! Explains how to do EVERYTHING. Very detailed lectures as well as homework review. His tests are entirely too difficult. He allows you to use a note sheet, with anything you want on it. Only uses the text book for homework questions.
I think he did a good job explain the material, but when it came to tests they were so hard. He lets you use note sheets, but sometimes they didn't help. Chapter 12 was just so hard and when the final comes most of the questions is that chapter. I thought he was a cool guy, but other then that the tests were very hard.
Mr. Nahom does a good job getting the material across. He is clear and asks if you have questions after each lesson. Gives homework for each section- roughly one per class. Breaks down the lessons from the book in his own style. Three tests are fairly easy- Probability is tougher. If you have issues with word problems you'll struggle. Go for help.
Took him summer1. Im Not good at algebra but he goes over everything really well so I ended up with a great grade! Would def recommend!!!
good teacher, very helpful and clear. chapter 12 is very, very hard. but other than that he is a good teacher.
Had him for concepts. Coming from someone who is the worst at any math I got a C+. I was very nervous throughout the class. He explained things for you to understand clearly and put his own take on it. When I looked at the chapter I couldn't figure it out. I would recommend him he was a very good teacher. Tests aren't to bad except for ch 12
Took his hybrid class in the summer and i dont recommend it esp if you have kids and a job! He lets you view all lectures at home and tons of hw. I wish he did some lecture in class rather than spending all 3 hrs going over hw questions. You're better off taking him on a regular sem. His test were hard too and all your grades are based on it.
His class his class was hybrid one day a week class. He does lecture videos online and not very helpful with tones of hw and lectures lengthening. I wish he did some lecture in class and his test were hard too with about 20 questions and all your grades are based on it. if you are terrible with math don't take him.
grade is based on 4 multiple choice tests. though he lets you use your own sheet of notes for the test this was not helpful for me. The test questions are hard and he doesn't let you keep them so you can understand what you did wrong. Took the hybrid course. do not recommend for anyone who has trouble with math. Did tutoring-still did poorly.
This class was incredibly easy due to the Professor practically going over everything and he made physics crystal clear for me. He's got the nicest personallity possible and i hope to take him for the second part to Physics w/ Calculus. Definitely recommend this professor is one of the best at GCC from my experience.
I took this class for 101 in the morning. He gives 4 tests and he lets you use a sheet of notes but they don't help because none of the test questions were on the notes. The questions were so much harder than what he gave us on our notes. Overall I didn't pass this class.
Took 101 fall of 2011 and absolutely loved his class. All his lectures are on the computer which makes it easier to comprehend via pause and rewind. He goes over lectures in class and is really a great guy. I am horrible in math and ended up with an A for his course. Great teacher take him if you can!
Had him for 105, not having ANY background in Algebra. Did his best to help, but my lack of background KILLED me. VERY good class overall though, lectures online and most if not all questions answered in class.
He is a great math professor. The online lesson were very helpful. He made sure that every person understand the material. Also if there ever is a mistake he on the test he will correct it. After you take his class you will be great at mathematics.
He is a really nice guy. Had him for physics. Even though some of the material is hard he goes over any problems you have issues with to make things more clear. He really knows what he is talking about and made the course very interesting.
Book is necessary for all homework assignments. The course I took was a hybrid, with half online. Watch lectures online, and rewind with questions. Coming to class is necesary for hmework review/questions. He takes attendance into consideration for final grade
Excellent teacher!! Some people are born to teach...he has a gift. His knowledge of the subjects he teaches is unprecedented compared to some others at GCC. He is incredibly patient and more than willing to do whatever he can to help students succeed. His physics class was a pleasure. I wish I could take him again..it was that great!
First off, I am horrible at math. Professor Nahom made math very easy for me to understand. He truly cares about his students and wants you to excel. I took his math class over the summer and I was worried but he helped me understand the material and i earned a B! Take him! Excellent professor and I wish I could have him for all my classes.
He is a great teacher, he's very thorough, passionate, and helpful. I already liked physics, but he really helped drive home a lot of the topics. His tests are exactly what he goes over in class, if you do your homework and study, you'll do great. I would definitely recommend him.
he was a nice guy I ad to take this class to graduate chapter 12 was very had and on the final you were allowed 4 pages of notes front and back but they did not help well I passed at least I am so glad I do not have to take it again.
Nahom was a great teacher. He's really good at explaining all of the material and very helpful. His tests are very challenging though and he is a tough grader. If you go to every class and do the homework you should get a good grade.
The best teacher at GCC!! Explains every aspect of his work. Gives examples and is clear with his teaching. A must take, fantastic, wants his students to do well and you will if you take him. All I can say is GREAT things about him, wonderful teacher.
Best professor I've had in a really long time. Take him if you want to understand physics
Excellent professor! Haven't had physics in 8 years and didn't understand much back then, but Prof. Nahom changed that big time! He is extremely thorough with his notes and gives real life examples anyone can understand. He teaches the way he would want to be taught, grades fairly, and is willing to go over material until everyone understands.
Nahom is good teacher. He is clear and gives you almost cookie cutter patterns to solving problems. Dont try to deviate from the way he does them because honestly you cant make it clearer only messier, which will hurt you in terms of partial credit come testing, like it did me. Go to class, use HIS notes, do HIS homework, you'll be fine -Delengowski
I took this class in Fall of 2009. Great teacher. I told him I was in Special Needs for testing and about my learning troubles, and he said, "We'll get through that." Honestly a relieving person to talk to. Enjoys what he does. He explains math different ways if you can't understand it in one way. There is homework most nights, but that's Math.
He's an excellent professor. Very helpful and clear in his video lectures. I used to dislike math, but that all changed because of him! The tests in both 101 and 105 aren't too difficult. As long as you view the assigned videos and complete the homework problems, you should be fine. He's so great, that I'm even going to take his physics class!
His lectures are very easy to understand. He is enthusiastic about physics and tries to keep you interested. Tests were hard, though. You need to be able to devote the time to study physics if you take his class. Lectures are easy, but its not an easy class.
amazing teacher, a must take
Great teacher!!!!!
Professor Nahom's lectures are quite clear and to the point. I am not mathematically gifted and received an A.
He's lectures are easy to understand and informative. As long as you study your notes & do the homework you'll never get behind. He's very patient & makes sure the class understands. He wants you to understand & pass. Best Professor at RCGC hands down!!! Would take 100 times :)
One of the best professors I have ever taken!!! He is extremely passionate about physics and making sure students understand the material thoroughly. His lectures and notes are organized and very helpful. Physics was scary before but by the end of the semester I was considering pursuing a physics degree, that's how amazing of a professor he is!
If you need take Physics, he's the guy! It's his passion and it shows! He did a "reverse classroom" learning idea. We watched his online lectures/took notes, then attempted the homework assigned. During class, we would go over all the homework problems together! Reinforced the lecture! Awesome idea! Also a very fair grader on tests!
Professor Nahom was born to teach! His enthusiasm for the material, along with his patience and ability to explain difficult concepts clearly and simply, made this class a great experience. He uses real world examples, making physics so intriguing and easier to understand. He has a great sense of humor and he really cares. Adorable! Take him!!
Professor Nahom is a gifted teacher. He made an 8 am physics class, that I was dreading, a phenomenal experience. He explains difficult concepts very clearly and spends as much time as needed to make sure everyone understands the material. He is kind, patient and a very fair grader. I never expected to laugh so much in physics class. Take him!
Easily one of the best math teachers I've ever had. He is genuinely concerned about the academic success of his students, and gives awesome pep talks. I'm terrible at math and struggled with it my whole life, and he explains it so clearly that I'm able to grasp the concepts. There's no need to take up any tutoring, as his teaching is so thorough.
I am not the best at math and I did good in this class. It wasn't particularly easy but was not hard. You did not need to turn in the homework but doing it was helpful for the tests.
This class was very straight forward so you didn't even really need to contact the teacher. You had video lecture notes and a 10 question quiz about every 10 days. Total of 9 quizzes including the 25 question final. Professor was quick to answer emails and very nice. I recommend and I would take again. Very clear grading and an organized course.
The video lectures in Professor Nahoms class are helpful when it comes to the tests but not the final. The final was extremely hard. Make sure you attend class and take notes from online bc it is counted as a grade. He doesn't offer any extra credit. You can tell he really cares about his students and their success but you have to put the work in.
I personally took a hybrid and rather would have taken it just online. Gives his own video lectures which are amazing, but very time consuming. You can tell he wants his students to do well in his class. The quizzes are short and fairly easy, however I found his final extremely difficult.
The best professor I had all four years of college. I was dreading physics but he made me interested in it enough for me take a second physics class with him. Very rewarding experience
Not a bad professor does a lot of video lectures but attendance is still mandatory to pass the class. lets you use a paper cheat sheet on test.
I took the hybrid version and wish i just did the whole thing online. He gives very detailed but long video lectures for notes and homework so theres really no reason to go to class yet attendance is mandatory. subject matter was hard to me but thats just a personal thing. uses too many sports metaphors but overall a good teacher
We got to bring in a piece of paper for the test but usually nothing you put on it was on the test. The test were really hard and i think I failed most. The lectures were boring and I am so glad that I am finally done with physics. He also gives online lectures so you aren't finished when class is over.
I had this as a hybrid class (in class Monday's but most online). He has video lectures for each section/chapter. Usually have to watch 2-3 a week and most are 30 minutes to an hour. Tests are usually once a week (about 10-15 questions). Only grades tests, the final, and your lecture notebook.
Had him for online math so can't say much about him as a person. His lectures were very clear and straightforward. You have a week and a few days for each unit and you complete the unit with a 10 question MC exam. The exams were very easy and grading was very clear. If you already have some knowledge in Algebra you should be okay in his class.
Wonderful teacher! Love online class.. videos are like you were actually in the classroom. Gives plenty of examples to help you understand and tests are only 10 questions each, 9 chapters for the whole course.
Very awesome and easy professor. There were a few times I had questions about some of the quiz questions that I had missed and he took the time to ALWAYS respond to my emails and went into full detail on how to get the answer that was needed. He's awesome. I would highly recommend taking him!
Took the summer online class. He has video lectures for you to follow and unit test twice a week. Test were not hard lowest grade was a 90. You do have HW not mandatory though and the answers are posted. Overall a very nice professor and a great class
A winter course, so very fast paced. Everything is laid out on the course schedule so you can keep track of it all. 2- 10 question tests a week & 1- 25 question cumulative final. lecture videos are helpful & prof nahom responds very quickly to any questions. Take notes and use them to your advantage for the tests. HW not required, but it helps.
Lectures were all online and the homework problems were all went over during class. Lectures were long and boring but if you payed attention usually they were helpful. He definitely cares about his students and wants everyone to do well. Hes willing to answer any questions. Physics is hard for me, but it wasnt too bad with him teaching it.
I took his class online and while there were videos you had to watch each week, and a test every 2 weeks, he explains everything VERY well. Also, each test is only 10 questions until the final exam and as long as you watch his videos and understand them, you'll do fine. I would definitely take a class with him again.
If you have to take physics, I highly suggest his class. Physics is a hard class to begin with but he makes it very understandable. He puts everything into real life scenarios and genuinely cares about his students and their success. He is super nice and a very fair grader. He is definitely the best teacher ive had throughout college so far!
If you have to take physics he is a good choice, however I personally do not like his teaching style, most of the lectures are online so you have to watch them on your own time, and in class he just goes over homework. For the tests he cherry picks the hardest problems from the homework, he does give partial credit but my god his tests are hard.
Physics is hard in general; however, Professor Nahom relates it to real-life scenerios and tries his best to help you understand the material. He is extremely nice and caring and wants you to succeed. You will need to study and go to every class. RCSJ is extremely lucky to have him.
Very funny and nice person. Lots of real-life applications and demos. Loves his job. Tests weren't awful because you have a note sheet. Only thing: you have to make extra time for online lectures because class is spent going over a few homework problems. He'll spell out what you need for lab reports. Not my favorite but have definitely had worse.
EXCELLENT PROFESSOR!! Makes sure every single person understands completely before moving on. Uses real life applications so material is easy to learn and makes sense. Lectures are online so he can spend all class doing practice problems. Get a cheat sheet of equations for every test. Always there to answer questions. Wants everyone to excel.
Great professor! I am not great at math and the way he structures his online classes is great. Records his lectures and explains everything in the simplest terms. He makes the material relatable. I hope he teaches statistics as well because I want to take him for that class:-)
Easy teacher. Do the lectures and HW and you will be fine. Fair grader.
So unhelpful via email and the grading system is insane. 60% of the final grade is made up of 4 exams including the final. This class takes up more time and energy than any of my others, yet my grade is lower than my other classes.
My professor is very direct and very thoughtout of the things that has been put through assignments and he gave us videos to prepare for the quizzez, good and an easy teacher to have I would definitely recommend taking that class again
One 10-question exam per unit (8 total, 10% each) and a cumulative final worth 20% of your grade. Videos for each section are detailed and clear with tons of examples. Homework is assigned, but not graded or collected. I'm taking this class as a transfer student for a gen ed but would definitely recommend the course/professor.
The schedule was the same every week. He made it clear when tests were due, and his recorded lectures were easy to understand. There were not a lot of assignments, so every test mattered.
Prof Nahom was very clear with the assignments posted. The schedule was the same every week and he gives plenty of time to get the tests done on time. With being strictly an online class, his class was easy to follow and his communication was direct. I don't like math, but he made me like it with his teaching style and easiness of the assignments.
I was nervous but he gives homework and then goes over it and that helps TREMENDOUSLY! He is responsive to emails and he teaches in a way that anyone can understand. After taking his class I've learned that my chances of hitting the lotto are slim to none (that's part of the lesson) but I'll still play. Take a chance, pick him! You won't regret it!
Literally the best professor I have ever had! I am not a math person but he made me love his class. My grade could be better on my part ofc, but he makes you understand so much! He uses live examples and compares the work to real-life appliances. Take him! He gives the option not to come to class but go, participate, and study his lecture examples!
MAT105 IS NOT ACCEPTED AT ROWAN UNIVERSITY. Besides that, it was a manageable class with 2 weeks per unit. Textbook is not necessary.
Very nice and helpful, long classes and hard material but great professor
AMAZING professor. He is so passionate about making physics doable and manageable to push through. It is super helpful to hear the verbal step-by-step explanations of the problems. The more engaged you are in class, the better you will do. He is great at answering any of your questions/concerns.
Mr. Nahom made my first semester at RCSJ much easier with an easy algebra class. His lectures were very organized in the course and made it one of the easiest "self-taught" classes I have ever taken. When I need to take any more math or physics classes I'll be scouting out his name.
Nice professor but I had to get in touch with him three times because he was late to opening up quizzes and exams. Wish he was a little bit more organized as well rather than having everything bunched up onto one screen.
The class was great, straightforward and easy. Very easy to follow the lectures for each quiz. As long as you take the time to sit and watch his lectures and take notes this class is perfect. Not long quizzes, all multiple choice, and a long time limit is given.
Lots of lectures but plenty of time to watch them and take notes. He gave all of the criteria needed to do well in the class. The lectures are long but easy to get through. You can tell that he is truly trying to make the boring information a little more bearable with humor. Great professor and would take again.
Professor Nahom makes physics engaging and manageable. He uses real-world examples and cares about student success. Staying attentive in class and using study aids like Unstuck ai can help excel in this course.
Amazing teacher. This course is difficult, but he makes it extremely manageable. He uses real-world applications for us to understand each problem. We watch lectures at home and go over questions and homework in class. Keep up with the lectures and attend class. Quizzes and tests are straightforward and online. Take this class.
