Very young professor with an impressive background. He will stay in the classroom until the very last minute. Exams are tough. You MUST study from the book or you won't pass them. Gives a power point for each chapter. Some extra credit for voluntary group presentations. P.S. He is sexy and he knows it ;-) He is cutie
Clear explanation , some extra credits, tests are not easy, but conceptual, must know and understand the concept . Would recommend him. Besides, he is hot!!!!!
He is very young and knowledgeable. Not everyone at the age that he seems to have can hold a PhD. His tests are not easy, but if you study and pay attention in class you will pass. Everything comes from the book and material covered. Provides power points for each lectures and class topics are very organized. Take him! He is the full package!
Inspiring, young, organized, knowledgeable, experienced in the field n cares that his students learn. Makes sure that students understand n reviews the previous class material before each class. He stays after class to answer any questions. Exams are not difficult if you read the chapters n participate. Practices what he preaches. Would take again.
He is working with you if you are willing to do well ( give extra-credits problems). Not really very organized, some important stuff, he goes very quick over without explaining through. He is alright over all.
Textbook and studying is important to passing, exams questions are tough to understand but Study hard you will get a fair grade. Class lectures are important to attend. Score as much points as possible in the beginning. Do homeworks and choose a great group. Will make the class easier. Great Professor, Educated and handsome too. Take him.
Get ready to study for a good grade. Textbook is mandatory. Participation and completion of homework and assignment is important. Attend each class lecture. Earn as many points as possible in the beginning of the class. Exams are tough. Take his class, he is a great guy, handsome and very educated. Be patient for grades, lots of extra credit options
This professor has easier assignments compering to some others out there in Baruch who give their students a lot of calculations to study. Prof. Bonilla gives plenty of extra credit and our first midterm was a group project, which is also the most weighted assignment on from your total grade. The tests do not include ANY math.
lectures are to the point and clear. learned everything on the tests in class. made material very practical to understand. fair grader. very attractive personality and looks! i can use everything i learned in so many different areas now! 1 group project 1/2 midterm , midterm, quiz, final, extra credits (up to 2). expertin what he teaches
He's very knowledgeable however he is a very strict grader.
Always fun class to be in despite the topic being quite boring. Tests are easy if you pay attention in class and read chapters. Lots of extra credit. Fair, very approachable, & entertaining. Educated, classy, polite, respectful towards students. Leader by example.
Lots of extra credit opportunity, 1 group presentation (tough grader), two tests! He tells you what to expect on the tests. Pay attention in class! He may give pop quizzes if he sees that students do not read assigned chapter.
Yes, lots of extra credits. Very easygoing, approachable and helpful.
Professor Bonilla is very knowledgeable which shows in his lectures. He teaches in a manner that makes you truly understand the material (you can't simply show up, you must put in the work). The result was a very rewarding and enriching experience. Easily my favorite class to date.
If you want to learn, I would recommend taking professor Bonilla. He is a great teacher uses life experiences to make the class more interesting.
Knowledgeable and inspirational. Would recommend no doubt.
Excellent professor. You will understand his explanations he makes the class extremely interest, he connects the material with real life situations. If you want to learn as much as you can take him because he is extremely clear about what he talks about. I appreciated his clarity and relating personal anecdotes to the coursework and material.
Professor is very modern in his teachings. Cares about students to do well.
I took Prof. Bonilla for MGT 3121. He is very good and explains everything well in class. if you don't understand something he is willing to clarify it for you. If you really want to learn management he is the prof you need to take. You have to read the book to get a good grade on the exams. I would definitely take him again.
Fantastic professor. You have to read and study, but you can apply the skills taught in the class anywhere. Great help and great personality. This was my favorite class.
Took Mr. Bonilla for MGT3121 and he was great. Very clear in assignments and lectures. One of the course materials was a book that I felt he wanted us to read to apply outside of class which I appreciate.
The lectures are easy to follow and understand because Prof is giving valuable real life experience related to the topics.
You can learn a lot in his class. Very knowledgable! Not a boring class .He gives real life examples which helps a lot, too.
Professor Bonilla is structuring lectures in a very interactive way and it makes you remember the concepts and even examples he gives from the real life. Very knowledgable and patient. I was able to apply the learned material further in my studies and I was amazed how much I remembered from his lectures. One of the best professors at Baruch
Most amazing professor. He make sure you understand the concepts and always kept the class engaged through his teaching styles. The homework is challenging but it is there to help you learn. His tests are easy once you study. He will no hesitate to help you. Took him for 3121 and 3730
Excellent professor. Encourages and show his students to learn how to work with groups effectively. Provides good feedback; his words always inspire me to work harder everyday.
Professor Bonilla has taught me a lot, the topics discussed were always delivered in an interesting manner, the material is applicable to real life experiences, that also challenged me intellectually! The extra credits were supporting the learning of the material and conducted in a very entertaining way! Would definitely retake this professor again
Professor Bonilla is very knowledgeable, the topics discussed were always delivered in an interesting manner, the material is applicable to real life, that also challenged me intellectually! The extra credits were supporting the learning of the material and conducted in a very entertaining way! Would definitely retake this professor again
Professor Bonilla, is great! Not easy, you will work. One of the best classes I have taken at Baruch.
Great professor. I learned a lot in his class. Knowledgeable and inspirational.
Prof. Bonilla was the epitome of what I look for in a professor. Someone with real world experience/exposure to the industry, coupled with the ability to translate that into the classroom. Although I was not interested in management topics in the past, Prof. Bonilla's teaching has transcended the classroom and traveled with me into the workplace!
Professor Bonilla is a consummate professional. His real world experience is invaluable to students and it translates to his teaching methods, creating an environment ideal for learning. His class pushes you to work hard for your grade and he is there every step of the way to help. Don't miss the opportunity to learn from him.
Professor Bonilla is dedicated and committed to his students. He's insightful to listen to and passionate about all things Management. Definitely would take him for another class!
By far one of the best professors for management 3121! Professor Bonilla shows a complete understanding in this topic and is willing to help all of students. In general I loved this class and would highly recommend.
Powerful! real asset for Baruch... You have to take him! He loves teaching and respects his students. He shows a complete knowledge and understanding in the topic that he teaches. He explains a concept over and over to ensure that everyone gets it. if you read the book before and after you will do great on exams.
Really interested class with really knowledgeable professor! He is probably best in Baruch! Really good teaching and respectful style
Excellent proffesor. I was sad that was my last mgt class. He gave his lectures using clear examples to make sure the students undertand the material. He tried to get everyone engaged in the class discussion. Participation is a huge part of the class. If you are expecting a professor that will read from the slides, change from this course.
Great Prof. very knowledgeable in his craft easy to talk to and explains topic in real life scenarios.
Great professor. The class included many opportunities to boost your grade. Must stay on top of assignments and readings to do well in the class.
He is very knowledgeable and clear. His lectures are very interesting. Attend class, read the book. Midterm- group presentation and get ready to read. He is very helpful and accessible outside of class. Loved his class
Best Prof in Management Department in Baruch. I have Learned so much from him & he is just such an amazing prof. Definitely recommend taking his course for an easy understanding of Management.
Such a respectable person. He makes the classroom a welcoming/inclusive environment where he listens to his students. He is very patient when introducing concepts. He seems very disciplined and well-organized. Just pay attention to the lectures. Study for his exams and you will be fine. I would definitely recommend!
This guy is the worst, he wants the entire class to search for companies that are not so popular but that are trading in the stock market. He works for a hedge fund so he wants the class to do his work so he can present it to his investors, he even specify that have to be on the technology index and that has a good financial performance.
I like his teaching, it's not boring at all. He will ask questions promptly, and let students do presentations for some materials of textbook. Most people find that annoy, but it actually helps you learn stuff.
Took this professor for MNG3121. Very interesting and informative lectures. One group project that really helps in understanding the chapters. I would definitely take this professor again
Professor was prepared for all classes, very knowledgeable and delivered the material clear and to the point.
He is great. He offered me feedback early on when I felt like I was slipping. He gave me constructive advice and I was able to save myself from drowning in the course. He wants his students to succeed, but you must show him that you want to learn and succeed in his class. Exams are pretty thorough but he gave such great lectures so I was prepared.
Would recommend him 100%! Likes that you participate in class if not then he pop quiz from time to time. Other than that you can get a higher grade by doing more class presentations.
Professor Bonilla is one of the best in Baruch! He is passionate about the subject, he is interesting and brings a lot of real-life examples. His class is not easy and is demanding but if you keep up with the work it's worth it.
Professor Bonilla hands down one of the best professors ever to teach MGMT 3121. He's very clear with the grading criteria and provides great feedback. He engages students all the time, just make sure you read! Do great on both presentations & study off his reviews and you will do great! Wish I can take him again!
He is big on teamwork. Makes you learn the importance of a team and how you can support each other in getting presentations done efficiently. Always prepared and organized. Patient when teaching a lot of difficult concepts. Made everything seem easy because he was willing to explain over and over. Respected everyone's input in class.
average prof. Seem to only give good grade to students that he know their names. Very late to reply emails, something he never reply to my email and other time, when he replied to email that didn't help at all. There is no office hour for help. To do good in class, make sure he know your name and pretend to be friendly with him.
He seem popular to student because he make joke in class. He care about his rating at end of semester. Team group project and team quiz on reading a book about management a company. don't be fool by his kindness his funny jokes. Not helpful at all.
Prof. Bonilla is an extraordinary ability to involve students in his lectures. I liked his course because of its participative nature and communication. He is very clear in explanations and is always available to help.
I took a class with prof. Bonilla two semesters ago and I found him extremely helpful. Dr. Bonilla has helped my group and me to better prepare for the Midterm presentation. He was very patient with us and explained clearly what he was looking for in our work. Thanks to a great feedback, my group succeeded and we all received an A.
Prof. Bonilla brought a valuable work experience as well as profound knowledge of the material. He shared his experience while working abroad which I found extremely interesting. Great lectures and great personality! I highly recommend him!
No homework. Just read and listen. Students like him a lot because he is nice and funny, however when it comes to exam. It is mystery. Nobody get below b-. Only students he like that end up with A or A-, even if their grade are b-. And for other end up with B,B- or B+.
Lazy professor. teaches few classes and let the students do the teaching for him in exchange for extra credit through out the semester. Students end up not listening and reread the chapter anyway. Honesty, I ended up learning nothing. He is nice person but not as a professor. He deserved to be a consultant.
Great guy with a good sense of humor! It is a pleasure to have him in Baruch! Other professors should learn from him how to be humble and respectiful. A lot of Hispanic students look up to him including myself.
Last semester, one of my group members failed his exam and was close to fail the course. Prof. Bonilla gave this student a second chance by making him come prepared to each class. I can promise you, my classmate was asked questions regarding the material for the rest of the semester and suprisingly was always prepared. inspirational!
I like the way his course is structured. You can improve and further your research and communication skills. Prof. Bonilla is accessible after the class in case you have any questions in regards to the material. When emailed, he responses fairly quickly. I can't wait for his feedback once my group presents.
Prof. Bonilla has set the criteria for grading clearly at the beginning of the semester and consistently followed them. There were no pop quizzes but far in advance scheduled exams. I am happy with his approach to teaching because he invites everybody to participate and share their work experience even if it is a bartender's job. We can all learn
Dr. Bonilla is in simple words the best MGT professor at Baruch!. His approach to teaching is engaging, inspirational and promotes active participation. Come prepared to class and you will do well. He is very approachable and willing to help anybody outside the classroom, he will stay until the last minute!.. take him you will learn so much!
This is a great class to take. It is a lot of work since you have to read the chapters and do read them before class or you will end up having a pop quiz. The professor is really smart and really explains the content very well. There is a lot of chances for extra credit. Presentation- midterm 1 exam 1 quiz and final. Really enjoyed this class.
He's a part-time pro with much experience. His class is very practical and well connected to your career. 2 exams, 1 quiz, 1 group presentation. None of them is hard if you treat them seriously. Give a lot of extra credits. You'll meet some friends in class and the class will be interesting.
Would not take again. Didn't learn anything in this class
Would not recommend this professor. His grading is unclear. Gives everyone extra credit for reviewing him. His class gets boring and no one pays attention after 20 mins max.
Professor Oscar Bonilla is an incredibly caring professor who gives lots of opportunities for all his students to do well in his course. He was a breeze, and even though he might have seemed intimidating from the first day, he really is not and cares much about his students success in the field and in class. Best Management 3121 Professor !!!!
the most interesting professor at baruch .. class was engaging and fairly easy if you keep up with the readings... textbook will help for exams
Average! Yes, this person is funny and may you laugh at times with his corny jokes, however, the grading rubric is a bit unclear and his presentation and teaching styles are sometimes unclear. He does give extra credit which is good, however, tests aren't the easiest and it's a 3000 level class with the Zicklin Curve still.
He is a great teacher, showed us a little of his experience and made us think different about derivates and the stock markets. Very greatful about his classes and that he shares practical excercises.
He is a very professional teacher, he loves to teach and they are theoretical-practical classes.
Excelente metodología de clase, me parece que el conocimiento que el profesor posee es muy amplio y es un punto positivo para él y para los estudiantes. Mercado de derivados- pontificia Universidad Javeriana
Connect hw every week, 3 exams that have questions directly from the hw. Prof will ask you to participate in class as a part of your grade so remember to take good notes. Lectures are entertaining and in the end of the semester prof teaches you how to trade for your own knowledge. Overall, solid class as professor teaches from his own experience.
You can learn actual trading skill that will benefit you life in the long run in this class!
Dr. Oscar Bonilla is smart, enthusiastic and carrying. Some hw, 2 midterms and final. Gives extra credit. He keeps your attention for more than 3 hours straight. Trading Labs are the best thing to learn how the Stock Market works. He is a real gem.
Professor Oscar Bonilla is one of the best that I have met in Baruch. He is patient and respectful to each one of the students in the class. The format is simple, midterms, final, and a few small assignments. But those are not important, the important part is that if you are somebody that really want to learn finance, take this class.
Very good professor over all.
Prof. Oscar was great. His explanation techniques were on point. He Will provide you enough time to catch up with your assignments. not only You will learn about the international market but also technical analysis which will help you to earn a decent amount in real-life situations. He's very hands-on and genuinely wants to help his students.
Fair, knowledgeable and friendly. He makes the class interesting and interactive. You actually learn and understand the topics and concepts, and how to apply them. His exams and assignments are fair. The trading labs were extremely helpful and valuable for anyone wanting to learn more practical skills.
Intern's Economics class was very conceptual. We learned the concepts and went over them briefly in the next class as an introduction to the next topic and as a way to receive feedback and class participation. His lectures are very instructive, entertaining, and inspirational. He is very savvy in finance and management as he owns a hedge company
Professor Bonilla is very hands on professor who lectures the class material. He brings in real world events every week as well as financial news in order to show how the topics in class have to do with everyday analysis of the market. This is a class to learn and enjoy yourself, without struggling too hard on the homeworks. Great experience.
He is a smart and easygoing guy who wants to share his knowledge with others. We learned about economic concepts along with recent events and how to use the thinkorswim platform to trade. Two midterms and a final, with 50-70 questions based on the slides. Overall, he is one of the better professors to take for a 4000-level finance elective class.
EXCEPTIONAL. Depth of knowledge, delivery, inclusion of real-world applicable content made course RELEVANT. Tests on theories but light on quantitative calculations. Simulated trading sessions and sharing of trading strategies makes even the novice trader pay attention. Dedicated, passionate, caring, patient, and engaging. Two thumbs WAY up.
This is one of the best courses I have been taking at Baruch. He explained the course in a simple and professional language, described all the terminology and formulas in a clear way. It's a great structured course and the Professor Bonilla made me really enjoy the process! If you want to find a good job in Finance, this course is a must to take!
Great professor, and one of the only ones at Baruch that go through practical examples.
Dr. Oscar Bonilla is a very professional professor. He covers a lot of topics focused on derivative instruments, trading and so forth. It's an intense class. If you really love finance and mainly wants to learn an investment related concepts then this is a great class. Overall, he is one of the best finance professor I have ever seen at Baruch.
Professor Bonilla cares, he teaches more than what the Futures class is supposed to cover. Professor shares his knowledge on technical analysis and trading, he covers techniques than otherwise will be difficult to learn at school. I would suggest a final paper which will help us on the grades and it is fun to do. I appreciate his effort! Ricardo P.
Decent teacher - explains concepts slowly and clearly, takes time to answer student questions. But terrible at admin side of being a prof - Grading criteria not clear, waits until the end of the semester to grade things, turned in final grades late. Also, very tough grader for writing assignments, especially if you have no background in the subject
Students taking this class should read in advance if possible. My opinion the class is better understood if we have concepts already. Great intro class for trading. First 15 mins class along with the use of WhatsApp and discussion boards to talk about market, inflation, etc were annoying and distractive for me. Tough grader made-up questions.
Lenient with grading and cares a lot about his students. Great class, I would take it again.
Professor Bonilla goes beyond the standard Futures and Forwards curriculum and book chapters. He covers other derivatives like Swaps and Options, and provides insights into technical analysis and trading techniques. He frequently explains with practical realistic examples. It's a great choice for those interested on trading and investing. -NDB.
Great professor, who truly cares about the student learning the material. attendance and participation is crucial for succeeding in this class. if you do the work, you will get an A.
As a Finance major, I would say this is the best professor that taught me at Baruch. Professor Bonilla offers informative in class lectures but practical examples and use of different platforms to show how finance can be used in the world.
Very knowledgeable and passionate professor. Take his class if you truly want to know about a world of international financial markets with real-life examples. Whatever you learn in this class will be useful for your career in finance moving forward.
I took this class during the summer. It completely changed my understanding of financial markets and motivated me to delve deeper into studying them after completing the course. The professor explains real-life cases. Attendance and participation are crucial. The class was in-person, but the exams were online. Open book homework and exams.
You can ace the midterm and final and walk out with a B+ for this class because of his ambiguous participation grading. No idea why he grades participation so harshly for an ONLINE class. Only assigned one discussion post at the beg of the semester and expected students to somehow show participation efforts. Easy class if you're cool with A-/B+
Professor Bonilla's FIN4910 class is a real-world Finance gem. With engaging lectures, practical examples, and a hands-on trading platform, the course provides invaluable insights into financial markets. Unstuckstudy was a game-changer for exam prep.
Very helpful, kept class engaging, and encouraged active participation. So long as you participate and have a genuine interest or an opinion in the markets and you should be fine. Make sure to also add articles to the discussion board once a week or so, and the grading is fair to those who try.
Professor Oscar is experienced professional and seasoned teacher which combines both trading knowledge with finance concepts to provide a class rich in content. Fair grader. Ricardo P.
He takes time to explain every topic, and is very open to students' contributions. His expertise in trading and finance are the things that make him the preferred choice when registering for courses. I think there's great value in his classes, and if you show up to class and pay attention, you will get a good grade.
Genuine and down to earth professor. Out of all the finance classes I've taken in Baruch this one is definitely one of the most enjoyable. Also, you actually learn a lot about markets (not just the stock exchange). TAKE HIM EASY GOING!
Great professor who genuinely loves the market and encourages students to keep up with current events while tying things into the course material. We also got a glimpse at his trading strategy, including an indicator he developed that called the top of the market in real-time, which was awesome to see play out.
I 100% recommend taking him. I had him during my last semester and genuinely enjoyed every class. His passion for financial markets really comes through! The class is content-heavy, but if you pay attention and take the time to understand the material, you'll do well. Gracias Profesor Bonilla!
Oscar is really really great. He did online and onsite classes and he records every class so that I can learn from the recordings after class. The content is not difficult, just to give you a brief idea about options, futures, forwards, etc. The exam and quizzes are all not difficult. And the professor is a really nice guy.
Very good professor teaches about real investing and how the markets work gives extremely good examples and is able to communicate complex topics very simply. no group projects he's a firm believer that information should be accessible and tests that way. learned so much in this class life changing
He's a good professor overall. Make sure to start doing the news discussion boards from the start of the semester. Grading: Attendance 10%, Participation 10%, Homework 20%, 2 Midterms 20% each, Final 20%. Exams and homework are based on the book and slides. Make sure to attend class and participate, as attendance and participation are important.
Excellent professor. I recommend taking him
Good and Easy going Professor, attendence are not mandatory but classes are worth attending. Tests and H.W are online and easy to pass.
Professor Oscar is an excellent professor. Please take his class!
Professor Oscar is wonderfully patient and explains concepts in a way that's easy to understand. I've learned so much—highly recommend his classes!
Helpful professor, clear explanations, and an easy grader.
Hi is well recommended prof to gain more knowledge.
