I ADMIT THIS TEACHER CAN GET KIND OF BORING AT TIMES, SPECIALLY IN THE BEGINNING BUT TOWARDS THE END IT'S VERY USEFULL FOR THOSE WHO HAVE JUST STARTED COLLEGE, THE CLASS SETTLES ANY DOUBTS YOU HAVE.

I learned so much from taking his course. He's a little strict when it comes to having your homework typed and also attendance but he's a great teacher overall.

He is very straight forward he gives alot of work but it is easy. He is serious about attendence and late work but all the information he gives is important to know and could save u alot of time in the long run.

Take this class as a freshman!!! I cannot stress this enough. This class will guide you in being successful in any academic environment. He is an unbelievably awesome teacher who is devoted to his job and students. If more teachers were like him, many more students would excel in education. Take this teacher!! He is an actual counselor and knows what he is talking about. I am so happy i took him in my first semester at SMC cause I learned so much about how things work here. Class will be full of kids fresh out of high school but it's useful and covers a section in IGETC. Do the extra credit in case you need to be absent one day. Make a good impression! This was a very easy, but boring class. He's a very fair grader. All of his lectures were pretty boring, and monotonous, but you can tell he really cares about his students. Easy A for sure. Always go to class and do the assignments (they'll take 10 minutes to do).

I agree that he is an incredible teacher. One thing YOU MUST realize going into his class, that there is NO EXCUSE, for lateness or absents. Which I think is pretty cool, but if you have court appearances or stuff that could possibly get in the way of that rule, save yourself the heartache and take another class or Professor.But he is the BEST!

I only have so many words so I will say everyone should take this class as early as possible & hopefully w/ Galindo. He's the most informative counselor/teacher I have met at this school out of 10 that I have seen. He's provided so much info & preparation. His class is very helpful to understand how college and universities work. This can be either the easies or the hardest class ever. if you are absent or late a lot don't take this class. he takes out 25 point each time ur late. none excuses for late assignments work with him.

Extremely helpful, my first class in college is this guy and I'm glad to start it off with a strong kick. Gives you a right transfer path or any path you want because he is an actually counselor on campus. Highly recommended, if his class his full crash it! Although at the add in part is kind of scary because it is a raffle.

This class you have to take if you want to understand the college system !!!! A lot of busy work (assignment a week) but are easy work. You can get an A only if you attended on time and hand it in all the work. He also gives two extra credit assignments! He is very nice and very helpful. Not a boring class at all.

He is outstanding at this subject, quite easy, guides you through everything and anything, asking questions will lead you where you want to do at SMC. He is very reasonable and loves his job, he has been doing this subject for about 17 years now, so he knows what he's talking about, took him for Fall 2010 and he is a great start to take at SMC!

He does not want to complicate your life. The assignments are very easy and he is very thorough in explaining it. Do all your assignments and extra credit. Easy A. Totally recommend.

This class is easy if you attend almost every class and you're always ON TIME. He takes 25 points off each time you're late/absent. Having said that I'm glad I took this class. We discussed a lot of articles in class and he integrated alot of information and made it relevant. Take him he's an awesome guy!!

Awesome teacher, very clear on what he says and gives easy assignments. He gives 17 assignments and lets you do two extra credit work wich are easy as well. His very strict on attendance and you have to be there on time. But is a great class. His very helpful and guides you through the right path. I recommend this class, you wont regret it.

Highly recommend for students coming straight from high school. Galindo has taught me everything I need to know to succeed at smc. He speaks the truth it might hurt a couple of people's feelings but he wants the students to know where they are and why they are here. And also make sure you attend every class.

This was my first class at SMC, I took it the summer after graduating high school. I was a little discouraged with the description of the class and thought it was useless. I was wrong, this class literally saved my life. Professor Galindo does a good job of helping you figure things out and on top of that he's an amazing professor. 1010, no doubt.

I am so grateful that I ended up taking his class. He is actually a counselor at SMC and dedicates his time in helping students achieve their goals. He is someone I am going to keep a close relationship with. To be honest, he taught me how to actually be a student and care about school. He is strict, don't get me wrong, but it is so worth it.

Great guy! Funny sometimes, takes role every morning! He's almost Military like (Im a Vet) but he cares about you and you will learn a lot from him not only about college but also life in general. Not an easy grade, but an A is possible. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT AND DONT BE LATE TO CLASS!!

Oscar is a fairly easy class just show up, do your work, and be prepared for the test. All the things college students should be doing. Attendance is vital. Sometimes he seems harsh but he is just being realistic and he gives some people wake up calls especially since its community college, but he is a great professor I would take him again.

He is hands down the best counselor or SMC. He may be strict but he teaches success in life and it only makes sense that its unfair. You will definitely learn AND get an A. Galindo's class is great. He wants to help you and will make you think deeply about your priorities and such. Do your work, show up to class, study for the quizzes/midterm and you should be fine. Has a serious late/bathroom policy, will lose points.

there is only a mid term and no final in this class. up to 120 extra credit points are offered :) he will take off 25 points for being late or leaving the class (for bathroom use). it's not as bad as other students say it is and he only does it to show you the responsibility of a college student. he doesn't give hard assignments! TAKE HIS CLASS!!

Galindo gives you a chance to withdrawal without a W and switch off to a different class in the beginning of the class right when he introduces the syllabus if you're aware of what you're getting yourself into then why complain about pts being taken off? Sounds like you should've stayed in highschool, GROW UP or leave. COLLEGE IS VOLUNTARY.

Galindo's Counseling 20 class is the easiest A you'll earn at SMC. Not because he doesn't challenge you, but because he tells you exactly what you need to do in order to earn an A. Yes, he will dock points for being absent, late or stepping out of class... Be present, be engaged and do the work. These are the ingredients to acing this class.

Oscar is a real great teacher . He's funny and not only that his class is great. Only thing I do recommend is to not miss classes or go to the restroom, he deducts points but it's a great example of becoming responsible. Overall his assignments are not hard but definitely pay attention to everything, don't sleep, he'll call you out.

He is the first professor I had and I have to say he is a good professor. He takes of points for being late,going to the bathroom, and being absent but he pushes you to do your best by that I mean he doesn't force you at all. He makes you choose and makes you take responsibility. It's a really good class and recommend you take it with him.

I just had to withdrawl from this class today. I had the 6:30am class (not a good choice unless you can function that early). Class is easy but lots of homework. He deducts 25 points for being absent/late and it really adds up. Don't be discouraged though, easy class if you pay attention and do the hw. don't miss an assignment! Great professor.

It was a very informative class. All you have to do is show up and do the homework. It's as simple as that. Easiest A I have ever gotten for sure. Not only is it easy but he is actually a very very good teacher and informs his students a lot about succeeding in their college paths. He really cares for his students as long as they come to class.

Counseling 20 is already an easy class on its own; however, add Galindo in the mix and you got yourself the easiest A in SMC. Yes, he does deduct 25 points for being late/absent but its not that bad. He's a really cool and mellow teacher. Only 19 assignments not including the midterm--which, personally, only required 25 minutes of study time max.

Professor Galindo really puts a very strong emphasis on personal responsibility as well as accountability for one's actions. He's at heart, a no nonsense professor when it comes to dealing with inconvinient truths about the daily obstacles students face, many of which we place in our own path to begin with. Don't regret a second of this class.

First SMC class ever and it was a great choice. He keeps it real and offers help if you need it. Breaks down what he expects and provides great lectures. Yes, there are some tests, but he does tell you what to expect on them. Took this class in the summer ( So it's do able).

Prof. Galindo's Counseling 20 class is a must take for any first year SMC student. He has so much knowledge and is straight up. He teaches you so much you about community college and the way it works. If you need help with anything outside of school, he will always be open to meeting with you. He is very inspirational and will lead you to success.

I took professor Galindo during Fall 2018 from Counseling 20. Make sure to do every assignment because the final exam is hard. He doesn't give a study guide or extra credit. He is very strict on rules. Make sure to read every chapter to get a great score on the final exam. No late work!

He is real and straight forward about what he wants from you. Really gives you the tools you need to become a well rounded competitive student. I love his passion and dedication!MUST TAKE!

The first class that I took at SMC and Professor Galindo definitely prepared us with the right information and advice needed to succeed in community college and beyond. You just need to show up on time, do all your assignments on time, and study for the quizzes. I 100% recommend taking this class!

This class as your first one is definitely a good choice, he prepares you for a lot, especially if you're coming straight from high school. This is a very easy class if you show up and keep up with your work. Prof. is a cool person, he keeps it interesting. highly recommend.

Hes a great teacher even though you lose 25 points if you arent in class or if you go to the bathroom but overall he helps you get ready for what college is going to be like also the workload is easy and the midterm and quizzes are easy so study! Overall hes a great teacher and Ill take him again and class is fun as well.

Great teacher ! Tells you exactly what you need to do to pass the class. Show up on time , do all your assignments on time and pay attention. You will do well and if you do miss some days it will be deducted in your grade but extra credit is a great option.

he's a pretty good teacher. easy work and gives you enough time to finish every assignment. missing one class will impact your grade more than you think so make sure to do the work or go every day. also if you're forgetful like me, make sure to have reminders for due dates.

One of the greatest professors! I 100% recommend, his work is easy and fun. This was one of my first classes I took at SMC and it was worth it. His work gave me confidence for the rest of my classes for Fall 2019. Yes, he does take off points if you don't come to class or use the bathroom but seriously don't want to miss a class of his.

He is seriously the greatest man I have ever met. He clearly cares so much and if you just show up and do the work you will learn so much and get a good grade. My favorite professor so far and my favorite class. I recommend him and his class to everyone! 10/10

Easy A

We didn't have any zoom meetings which was amazing, means I could sleep. We only had discussions and a quiz due every sunday, and they were really easy. I even stopped doing work for about 3 weeks and still ended up passing with a B.

I'm currently taking his class but I have an A+ anyways HE IS SO SWEEET and truly cares about his students. His assignments are super easy! we do have a quiz every week about the chapter but the answers are all on the powerpoint he provides! overall great professor.

Professor Galindo was such an awesome professor to have. His directions for every discussion, assignment, and quiz is straightforward. No zoom meetings and everything is due by the end of the week which just made life easier. Its crystal clear that he has his students best interests at heart and is just such a kind person. Over all he's a good teacher, grading is a little fair, Give you enough time to get assignment turn in and one little down part is that if you are late to class or miss a class you can't make up work that is due that day and you will lose 25 points for attendance. but thats why he give the assignments a head of time

I highly recommend Professor Galindo, especially if you want to succeed in college. Attendance is vital if getting an A is essential since each day you are late/absent, you lose 25 points. YOU ALSO LOSE POINTS GOING TO THE RESTROOM, LOL. But besides that, his class is easy and very informative on how to be a successful individual.

Mr.Galindo is a good teacher he really showed me I can transfer to a 4 year in 2 years, but keep this in mind that if you are absent, late, leave the class room at all you WILL lose 25 points. But you have a chance to make it up with extra credit. Over all he a good teacher and I would take him again Just make sure you do your work and be on time

I would 100% recommend taking Prof. Galindo. You need to be present from the start of class to the end. Any leaving of the classroom will take points off of your grade. I missed three days and was able to complete extra credit to make it up. Assignments are easy and you know them well in advance. Ask questions and come to class = A.

The hardest part of this class was getting to class on time (points are deducted for lates and absences). Take each assignment seriously and you'll improve as a student.

Professor GALINDO does a great job preparing new college students for the wide variety of challenges, teaching styles, and overall expectations they will face during their time in higher education. He is very "by the book", but you quickly realize that is by design in order to expose you to what is ahead, so things do not hit you by surprise later!

He is the best professor you should reach out to when you first enrolled at SMC. He is always willing to help and gives you a hand. He makes the lectures very organized, and every assignment seems manageable. When you have some problems and ask for his suggestions, he can make everything so clear. Highly recommended!

Good helpful lectures and manageable amount of assignments. Make sure to get to class on time every meeting and turn in every assignment on time. This class is good to take on your first semester for useful info about SMC and to plan your education.

Highly recommend taking this course for your first semester. This course will help you plan goals and create better habits for college. Overall it's easy A if you go to class pay attention and turn in the assignments on time. If you are not an early morning person I wouldn't recommend his 8 am classes as attendance is important for your grade.

Professor Galindo is absolutely amazing he helps you to become a better person, especially for people who procrastinate.

This was a very great class to take as my first class at SMC! Mr. Galindo is such a great teacher, he always says that he's not going to teach you things you don't already know. But I learned a lot of things about myself so it was fun. The only reason I got a B was because of the attendance and tardy rule but that'll help me for my future classes.

Prof. Galindo's class is a great way to start college. Attendance is key, but with some effort, you'll learn valuable skills for success. unstuck study was a lifesaver for my study prep - highly recommend giving it a try!

This class is just College 101. He gets you in line quickly, making you understand what bad academic habits give you. I suggest this class to every college freshman not taking college seriously. Also, you need to print stuff for this class so either finish and print in advance, print in the library morning it's due, or BUY A PRINTER.

read the syllabus and you will be fine. Get to class on time and pay attention, meaning keep your phones away in your backpack and use the restroom before. he is awesome and really easy to pass, if you read instructions and don't text in class :)

Let me start by saying that his class was my first encounter with college classes and with the US educational system itself, and boy was I lucky. This class and the way he teaches it is by far the best class you could take if you are new to college. I can talk about how helpful is this class for hours, and I did with my friends. He's great and fun.
