He is a great teacher
I took an 8-week course so of course there was a lot of homework given. But Professor Villalobos was very attentive and always answered my questions when I had problems with any of the homework. He definitely is a Professor that cares about his students and wants everyone to do well in class. I would take his class again!
The standard for grading homework wasn't as clear to me in the beginning, but once I got the hang of it, I did great. Thorough explanations, super helpful and reached out if he was questioning your progress. This 8-week course had it's typical load of homework but this was by far the best math class I've taken.
Professor Villalobos has been super helpful throughout this term. He gives lots of feedback on homework, is a quick grader, and responds to emails super quickly. He also gives really good lectures walking you through the material. The homework can take a while, but it's really helpful to prepare for the tests.
I was really worried when I started the class that I would not do well since it's been awhile but this class was great! He gives a lot of homework but it helps you understand it better and he goes over it during lecture to prepare you. He's also really helpful if you have any questions during or after lecture. I highly recommend him!
This professor is great! Honestly math is not my favorite subject. Last time I took college algebra I made a C, this time I have an A ! Professor Villalobos explains the material in a way that is easy to understand and he is very fair. I would highly recommend him. This was an 8 week course and I can not believe I have done so well!
Gives good feedback and emails fast and is responsive. He also offered extra credit and it helps boost students grades. He lectures really well and breaks down everything and answers all questions.
Worst teacher you could have!
Mr. Villalobos was very thorough in explaining the work, which makes the class so much easier, especially if you hate math. However, he sends posts lots of announcements, which are helpful, but it becomes a bit much. Overall, he is a great professor, leaves good feedback on all assignments, and takes his time to make sure we understand.
Overall, it was a great and easy class to take. I'm not great at college algebra but I was able to understand it so much better than I did in High School. Everything was super clear and the teacher did a great job at reminding students when everything was due. As long as you stay focused and on top of your work, this class is super easy.
Left comments on homework assignments letting me know how well I did and what I could improve on.
The Professor explains the math problems clearly and gives extra credit on some exams.I learned alot in this course and would definitely take it again. He is also respected and gives feedback on exams.
This was a great class, the professor was always available and would give great feedback. Since there is COVID this class was online. I decided online anytime and I have to say it wasnt hard. The professor would post videos with examples of the homework which helped alot. As long as you do your homeworks and reviews the test are not complicated.
Math is not my favorite subject so it was a struggle. The first few assignments I failed horribly but after receiving good feedback and encouragement from the professor my grades started to go up. I am sitting at an 89 right now and hopefully once my extra credit points are added I will end up with an A! Be prepared to study if you want to pass!
Professor Villabollos was a good teacher, he was available all the time for students who have questions or concerns about assignments or the class itself.
My experience in this class was very nice. The professor had everything well organized and it made things easy to turn in work and reviews. I will say that you will have a hard time trying to pass if you don't do all your work on time. Having well time management will help you out a lot in this class. Overall the class was a very good experience.
Professor Villalobos alerts you of assignment deadlines and offers extra credit. There was discussions due every Friday and my openmath assignments due every Sunday. I believe professor cares about his students. His tutorials were very helpful. I would take Professor Villalobos math course again.
Great professor, the class is challenging, but the grading is fair. As long as you study for all of the tests, and you make sure you go over the homework and reviews. You can do good in this class.
He is very thorough when he does his step by step examples. The videos are accessible throughout the course. The problems are very lengthy so if you are like me (extremely busy) the quick 1 hour of studying will not suffice. You will have to submit all work and not just complete the questions online. If you miss steps he will knock you.
8 week online course. Review was exactly like tests. Lots of HW with myopenmath videos but had to use his lect videos too. Submit hw and exam handwritten work as pdf for credit. Exams weren't proctored, i hate being watched lol Do not underestimate this course, you will need help. Go to tutoring.
Lectures are some what long, but are on point. lectures can be easily understood, but have to work in the homework. I took 8 week Calc 1 and it went through pretty well. Exams are easier than the homework.
Professor Villalobos explained the math material in a way that is easy to understand and his videos were accessible throughout the course. He had the work well organized and gave extra credit on some exams. He always replied to students' emails quickly and gave great feedback. I learned a lot in this course and the class was a very good experience.
I feel like I learned more and improved in math because of this professor. He always offers help and is quick to respond to any email.
Great Professor, I much rather take class online. Instructions are very clear, a must for an online class. Very accessible if you dont understand something, although the lectures cover the material except for a few problems in the homeworks. Tests are just like the reviews, thats a major plus so I could practice.
I absolutely hate online classes. However, Mr. Villalobos is a great online professor. He is very understanding and will respond to your emails quickly no matter what the subject matter is. He's not on a power trip like a lot of professors, and he really does care for your success in the course.
Prof. Villalobos was very helpful this course. His lectures are done and explained by himself, unlike my pre-cal teacher that just videos from others on YouTube. also, Prof. O will always get back to you with extra help or other concerns. If professor Villalobos if available for any of your mandatory math classes, I 100% recommend him!
I would recommend this professor. He responds back to questions in a timely manner and he's respectful. He grades fairly and he won't test you on anything he hasn't gone over already. The only downside is there is a lot of homework in this course but that's pretty common in math courses.
if you are wanting a professor that will actually do his own lectures and explain problems in DETAIL. Take this professor! only reason I do not have a A is because the first test I did not show all work and got a low grade,(completely my fault) but this class you can totally make an A. do all hw and show all work for exams and you will do awesome!!
His class was excellent and at a really good pace. He makes himself so easy to reach and even created a GroupMe with our class so we could ask questions to every student and him! If you keep up with the homework and submit all assignments you will do fine!
The teacher gives good advice and also try's his best to help each student with individual feed back.
I would recommend taking this professor. He is very helpful, easy to get a hold of and will respond to you as quickly as possible. His lectures are very straightforward and will explain how to solve problems step by step. If you do all the homework and show all your work on exams you'll do great! If i had the chance to take him again I would!
If you do not watch the videos or take good notes especially if you have not taken any math classes in a while you will fall behind in class which would take more time to complete the work than what you have anticipated. Mr. Villalobos will respond/contact you as soon as he is available if there are any concerns about attendance/grades.
Took this class for a 5-week summer course. Would definitely take this class over and over with this professor. Instructions were clear, but be ready to put the work in. This class moved fast as expected.
Professor Villalobos was great, only downside was the amount of homework given. His lectures really helped with the homework and exams.
Professor V gives good feedback and helps as much as he can. Hes one of the best professors Ive had while taking an online course. I would take him again. Its a lot of work if you take his 8 week mini semester though, so make sure you have enough time for 2 assignments each week and a test every other week.
Professor Villalobos assigned a lot of homework throughout the course but that's expected for an 8-week course, especially for Calculus. But he grades his exams fairly, as he gives credit for work and give you feedback on your work. If you have a compacted schedule or you're simply taking Calculus for your credit, then I wouldn't recommend though.
The 8wk online course is no joke. If you take his class expect to have alot of hw due. With step by step work submitted. He grades the work not just the answer. His lectures on youtube were very helpful. 1 hw (multiple sections) due per week 4 exams and 1 final exam.
responds fast, gives great feedback, is considerate with things that happen unexpectedly as long as you notify. overall a great professor
Very great with communication and giving clear instructions. Follows the exact schedule that's on the calendar given on the first day.
I took this class 100% online, be aware of deadlines, focus on the lectures and homework and the test review and you will be ready for the exam! He is a good professor and truly cares for you to succeed! I would take him again.
Professor V is a good teacher for Calculus. His lectures are for the most part helpful to pass the homework and exams. You will need to take the time after class to do your homework to understand the material. The professor can be contacted after class hours and is helpful.
This course was a lot of work, but that's expected for an 8-weeks course. There was an exam every other week and at least two homework assignments due every week. But the professor grades his assignments and exams fairly as he grades by work. I wouldn't recommend this course if your schedule is busy or if you're looking for an easy class though.
Professor V's course was the most difficult class I've ever taken, but I have learned a lot. There is a lot of work to be done, but if you work hard on the hw, you'll be able to pass the tests. He responds fast and has great lecture videos on youtube that help for the assignments.
Professor V is always helpful! His videos attached to the course content is always helpful and I go back to see those videos whenever I have a hard time solving a problem. It was an 8-week class so I wouldn't recommend it to any one works full time for this course but overall it was good.
My time in this class was great! I feel like the opportunity to learn nd be good at calculus is there its just willing to apply the time to studying early.
DO NOT take this professor if you have a busy schedule or are taking it just for credit. I made the mistake of doing so, just trying to get credits knocked out yet this class is the most time consuming due to him being very particular about showing your work step by step.
I took this course as a spring mini and there was a lot of homework but that's to be expected for such a short course. The professor gives you a calendar of all the due dates for the assignments and exams which was helpful, he also gives opportunities for extra credit to raise your exam grades. Overall, I would take this professor again.
Professor Villalobos is an amazing instructor! I took him for a 8-week course and he made Calculus fairly easy to understand.
Professor is an excellent teacher and had a clear syllabus. He also sends lots of reminders to email/text messages if you sign up for them! I took him for an 8 wk online course and there was lots of homework but plenty of time to complete it between deadlines. He offers extra credit, too. Overall, I would totally take this professor again!
Professor Villalobos has a perfect plan for this class, everything is scheduled and ready to be completed. Lots of helpful videos, which help you understand most of the problems and topics in this class.
Professor Villalobos is a great professor. He provides enough material for you to study and prepare for the exams. They are consistent with material cover throughout the lectures. He is also accessible. Definitely would recommend him.
The professor is detail-oriented, has a schedule you can easily follow, and also responds to emails fairly quickly. The only problem is that the final exam is worth 30% of your entire grade, which is too high in my opinion.
I took a half-semester so a lot of work and no excuses. He's strict on the due date, where to put the work, and the participation is graded every two days. Do the work early so you won't get frustrated and do the exam reviews because they are the same as the real ones. Good luck!
Professor Villalobos is very organized and sticks to the course schedule. He provides good material to help his students understand better. Also offers extra credit. Overall a great professor!
Professor Villalobos is very responsive and hos lectures do show step by step on how to do the work required for the homework. As well he is understanding of the time and how hard online classes can be. He is one of the good professors San Jacinto has to offer I would highly recommend taking his classes.
Professor Villalobos is great always answers you when you have questions no matter what time. Is understanding of how online class can be harder than in person. Is as well very good of making online feel like in person.
I took Professor Villalobos for online, 8-week Calculus I. He gives a reasonable amount of homework which adequately prepare you for his exams. Exams are easier than the homework assignments. Media provided by Prof V is top-tier. Be prepared to study hard, especially if you're doing the 8-week course.
I took him online class for 8 week course instead of the full 16 weeks. So there were a lot of work need to be done in a shord time. I alway thought that I was good at math but taking this 8 week class is challenging. How ever the professor was very nice and helpful and he is very organize on black board, yes I will recomend other to take his class
very strict grader takes points off if not done his way
very strict grader and tons of homework which could be expected especially since it was a shorter course but at the same time...it is a shorter course so I expected a little more leniency. DO NOT take him if you have other classes and/or work because this class will consume ALL of your time.
He makes things so much harder than it needs to be, I hope that I never have to take his class again. He tried to make up for it by giving more time for his test and extra credit but still I'd rather just never take him again. In any subject, I don't care what it is.
This professor makes you get into the habit of notetaking and writing down all work for your answers in order to get full credit. Overall the course under this professor is very resourceful and easy to access, if you want a course that encourages you to study and prepare for exams on your own this is your go-to professor.
He is a great professor, and is pretty lenient on grading. There is a ton of homework, so be ready for that. The videos he post alongside the homework are extremely helpful. You have to do good on the test though, because they are worth 50% of your grade. The test reviews are similar to the test, so that helps a lot. He also gives extra credit.
This professor shines for his recorded lectures. He works through sample problems explaining many of the concepts better than the textbook does. They aren't perfect, but they are a lot of help despite the fact that he says they aren't mandatory.
Gives lots of homework doesn't teach all his lectures are from YouTube. Test are worth 50% of your grade. Will not take ever again.
He was able to teach well over a shortened online class. The videos he supplied walking students through each topic were very helpful in learning at such a quick pace. He is also very good at replying to emails and providing help when needed.
Professor does give many resources to use and lecture/example videos at your disposal. Test reviews are also nice and can help out a lot. Be wary of the multiple overbearing number of homework assignments due, but this could attributed to the fact that this was a short class.
Pretty great professor overall, as long as you follow the class calendar you should be able to keep up with the assignments. I took this course online for 8 weeks so it did feel like at times it was a lot of homework. The exams are what really matters and his reviews are really similar to the exams so if you do them you should be okay on the exam.
This was an 8-week course, which was heavy on the workload. Professor gives the right resources you need to pass this class. All work is done on My Open Math and fairly easy. Would take it again but this time for a full semester so I don't get overwhelmed with work.
He provided videos which helped you do your homework. Exams were tough, this was obvious because most people kept doing poorly. After the second exam, it went to open notes and people started to do good again. Was strange there was a student who didn't submit his work but still got full credit.
Great teacher just be on top of your assignments (you will be using Myopenmath) other than that easy class
Professor Villalobos is a very good professor. Course material was outlined very well and is easy to follow (as far as Calculus is concerned at least). I definitely had trouble in this class, but it was the nature of the material, not the professor. I would absolutely recommend taking his class if you're undecided on who's course to register for.
Lots of homework, however it makes the test sooo much easier. Great professor!
Reviews in open math are great help for exams! there is going to be a lot of homework do not procrastinate.
Professor Villalobos is a very patient person, very responsible. He replies to your emails within the time frame. He is willing to work with you. I would recommend him when taking an online class. Just complete the reviews he provides for you and you will pass this class.
I really enjoyed taking prof. Oscars' MATH 2413, cal 1 class. Although when faced difficulty in this subject previously, I was able to overcome that in his class. he was very friendly, always email you back on time, breaks down difficult concepts in basic terms, and helps you understand them easily and effectively. I strongly recommend taking him.
Professor VillaLobos it's a really good teacher one of the best teacher I ever have in online class, always that I was on trouble in some questions I was asking for his help and he was there and he give you a answer fast one of the best teacher in online classes.
Professor Villalobos was great with his content for the class. The homework done on MyOpenMath was excellent with the videos explaining how to work the problem. I wish he was teaching Calc 2 next semester, I would take him again. We had homework every week, it seems like a lot, but it really help you understand the materials.
I would definitely take Professor Villalobos again. The grade I received was due to me missing deadlines. Had I been on top of homework and exams I am sure it is easy to receive an A in his online course. Instructions for weekly assignments are super clear and attainable. I recommend taking this course 100%.
Professor Villalobos is a great professor and does the best to showcase how problems are done through his lecuture videos. There are some hard problems that arent covered well, but overall as long as youre on top of homework and do the exam reviews you will do much better.
This professor is amazing, he responds to your problems very quickly, gives extra credit opportunities, and the workload is manageable. My grade was due to the assignments I missed but overall this is the best I've done in a math course in a long time.
I would definitely take Professor Villalobos again. The homework is done on MyOpenMath which is easy to follow due to the resources given. He made Calculus easy to understand.
Bro no. if you're looking for an easy A this class isn't it. All work is done though Myopenmath but he makes you do all work by hand and submit to him. Worst part of all, I'm speaking for everyone who cant say anything, he basically buys the rates here. He offered the class "extra credit" to rate him positive here for an extra 5 points in exam.
Professor Villalobos give you good explanations on his lectures, however I would had like for the class to have maybe a schedule time and day that was ok with most of students in the class, to work hard homework problems. Overall if you applied your self and actually listen to the lecture you will do great in these class.
I had previously taken calc 1 a semester ago and it felt super overwhelming and failed by a point. I decided to take it again with professor Villalobos and it was so much easier. I did not feel overwhelmed at all and I just felt like the unlimited resources he provided made easy to process the information.
He is a great professor and has a good assignment schedule giving mostly about 2-3 per week, but be prepared to study the lectures given.
very straightforward instructions. Lots of homework so you have to stay on top of your work weekly.
This class is very straightforward. Lots of homework so you have to stay on top of it weekly
This was an enjoy class for the semester. Professor Villalobos is an extremely kind and understanding professor that only wishes for you to succeed. You have to be on top of your game with submitting the homework in on time, as they are due every week. There are multiple sources to help you with the homework and understanding the content.
The exam reviews are exactly like the exams which is great. He provides video links that directly help with the homework/exam material which I found more helpful than the textbook. Homework is generally due on Sundays which gives you the whole week to complete them. You also get (basically unlimited) attempts on the homework!
Overall, he is a great professor and knows his stuff. I will say that a problem I had was with using myopenmath and submitting handwritten work. As sometimes the program on myopenmath would not accept the answer as correct. My hope was that the handwritten submission would be used to correct such mistakes, but I do not think it was ever looked at.
The exam reviews are almost exactly like the exams and I liked that. He gives video lectures for each unit and that goes directly to the homework/exam material. There are usually around 4-5 assignments per week due on Sundays, but you have to stay on top of your work. Overall, if you listen to the lectures and do the homework, you will do great!
I took calc I over the summer as an 8-week course and the most challenging part of this course would be the first week of class. However, Professor Villalobos has many resources available for this class including videos for each unit and additional videos for certain homework questions.
Professor did have great lectures for our online class that correlated with the homework and review which prepared us for the tests. The reviews were not mandatory, but great practice. I suck at Math and his way of teaching made Calculus seem easy.
This class overall is great, not contain too much homeworks, and the test work is just like the homeworks/review, you must submit hand written work after finish the test, Professor Villalobos is respectful and supportive as well.
The class overall work is great, the homework was not too much, the test was just like the review/homework, you have to submit your hand written work after submitting the test. Professor Villalobos is supportive as well, manage your time and you can easily succeed in this class!
The class required a lot of reviewing and homework but despite that, it was an overall good experience.
A few questions on the review and test are a bit different than the lectures and book
Professor Villalobos was a really good professor. I was in his an online class and he provided us with all our resources from the start of the semester. He keeps up to date with grading and updates us on what is needed to be done that week. This includes reminders of what homework assignments are due and discussions we need to complete.
For an 8-week calculus course, this was very manageable. Professor Villalobos explains and gives reminders of everything in the course so make sure to keep checking blackboard. while there is lots of homework, it shouldn't be an issue to receive a good grade on them and as long as the you look over the review, the test almost does itself.
I've taken an online class and I felt I learned everything clearly. Even though it was a remote class, all the lectures provided by the professor felt he had a passion for teaching what he teaches. Overall, it was a fair class since the number of assignments was balanced with the number of days we had for the summer term.
Professor Villalobos did an amizing job teaching this course. He makes amaizing youtube lecture videos going over each weeks homework assignment which are really easy to understand and easy to write notes on. He also makes the exams not have a timer on, which made me personally feel so much more calmer since I didnt feel rushed.
Honestly he wasnt too bad just confusing bc of the program we used instead of having everything in blackboard.
Homework has lots of videos coupled with it which makes it easy to understand and grades are due the same 2 days every week so it is easy to keep up with
Good Summer Course! Class was very organized and easy to navigate. Lectures were straightforward. Homework was a bit heavy but his timelines are reasonable.
