Oscar is not like your standard stuffy science teacher. He is very helpful and approachable. He enjoys teaching and wants his students to succeed and past his courses. Not a day goes by when this professor is not smiling or enthusiastic:
THE BAD NEWS IS THE EXAMS ARE KILLER...THE GOOD NEWS IS HE PRACTICALLY GIVES THE ANSWERS AWAY IN OFFICE HOURS IF HE SEES YOUR EFFORT, HE GIVES EXTRA CREDIT, HE IS A REALLY AWESOME PERSON AND WANTS TO SEE YOU SUCCEED. STUDY THE DETAILS, IT'S ON THE EXAM!
awesome, enthusiastic teacher. cares about the students and want them to succeed.
OMG he's the BEST professor ever! he's has so much energy!! i can tell he LOVES teaching! well his tests are pretty hard cause it's almost 100 questions long... but guess what? he gives u all the test questions before the test. so if you try your best in finding the answers, you'll do justtt fine!
i liked the time when he talked about the big big rims that spin really really fast when they stop and the big spoiler you put on your car. Plus he didnt know what blue balls were, LMAO
Dr. Wambuguh is a charismatic professor who loves teaching. His lectures are entertaining and informative. I love the examples he used in class to explain complex ideas. Dr. Wambuguh, in comparison to other professors, is honest and fair in his grading. It would be a good move on your part if you choose to take his class.
This man's entertaining, but his exams are killler! Beware of what people say. His class is really tough. The book is difficult to understand and he spits out his lectures like an african machine gun. I don't think his classes are worth taking unless you really love biology. I know I didn't. Oscar is a fun guy to by around though.
Dr. Wambuguh is truly a great teacher. He loves Science, but most importantly he loves teaching. He's always enthusiastic and very patient. He makes an effort to hold review sessions before the exams so we have a better chance at doing well. Overall, he is a very nice, geniune professor who is never in a mad mood!! I would take him again!
Really sweet and funny!
He's very entertaining. Keeps you awake. Has a deep accent but after a couple days you get used to it. Very nice.
Attendance is not mandatory but you have to show up to do his quizes everyday for the extra credit or you will fail miserably because his tests are hard to understand. Easy if you just show up.
Cool guy but hard teacher! Tests are hard and require a lot of studying for! Willing to help but sometimes doesnt understand the question. (English is his second language) overall he is a good teacher but the class is not easy
U kiddin me? Eng isnt his first lang, but he explains things CLEARLY, better than those who speak eng as first language. Gives test Q's before test is given, all quizzes are EC. All exams are MC. He's funny, always smiles, uses lots of examples. Very easy. Easiest prof EVER had! Lecs posted online. Very organized, helpful.
He is an excellent teacher! Very enthusiastic and very clear and helpful! He really wants all his students to do well. He keeps you interested and is funny. Eventhough his accent might be a little hard to understand at first it really grows on you, he's great!
Several reasons as to why I did NOT like this class: His lectures are too long and boring and he takes 10-20 mins just explaining just 1 slide ; He doesn't want anyone to really get an A on his mid-terms and final and he makes a lot of errors for the answers to his exams to make it more confusing .
This class was very interesting, even interesting is the professor. Even though he has an accent, he is not hard at all to understand and comprehend. He is extremely helpful and will find time to answer your questions. He knows his subject and will make clarification if he made an error because of him still following British English writing style.
The Pro: Lots of opportunity for extra credit. The Con: Everything else. The "lecture" consists of a massive amount of PowerPoint slides with no explanation. There is not enough time to complete the tests. There is no makeup - if something happens to your test, connection, computer, whatever you are screwed. Take it as C/NC if you have to.
ONLINE VERSION The Pro: Lots of opportunity for extra credit. The Con: Everything else. The "lecture" consists of a massive amount of PowerPoint slides with no explanation. He's super kind as a person, but the classes he teaches are always project heavy in an exhausting way. not too intellect heavy, but more busy work. the syllabus is crazy and you will spend a lot of time trying to figure out due dates versus actual work. tests are hard to understand because they are subjective and his phrasing is confusing for most.
This class that I took was online so I am not sure how he would be conducting a class. He is an inflexible professor and does not understand that "things happen" and there might be moments that a computer can lose internet connection. If this happens during a test he will not work with you. Do not take class, especially if its not your major.
Lets just say he failed 90%of the classes final paper. You have one more chance to redo it with the ability to receive a C max in the class. Will not let anyone see him, and office hours are over. I have done well in all previous classes. One week of classes left and everyone is upset.
He is very by the book no exceptions type of professor. He failed about 80% of the class based on their final paper.Right before finals week too! talk about stress.Word to the wise know APA format it will save your life.
ONLINE: This professor provided a lot of extra credit points that counts towards your two midterms. He makes you do two case studies, and they are due at the end of the month. He also gives you a Take Home Test. One final at the end of course. Carefully read each PowerPoint lecture before taking the pop quiz and read the book ahead of time.
All quizzes are extra credit point. You can get up to 150 points. Take them bc the two midterms almost look like them so it is good practice.2 cases are also asked which are only one page long and really easy. The final is 150 pts. it is harder but you stock up on the extra credit so not bad It is a god online class I recommend it for GE.
Nice guy but too much review, constant talking, and skips back and forth on the powerpoint and I can't understand A WORD he's saying! He doesn't really seem to care that no one can understand him either. Be prepared for a LOT of hard to understand talking and quizzes that don't reflect the course work. At least they are extra credit and no textbook
He is so hard to understand because of his accent. The powerpoint don't reflect the quizzes and midterms. Even though everything is online I still didnt do well. DO NOT TAKE HIM!! I don't recommend
Oscar's lecture is hard to understand because of his accent. However, you gonna get used to use it. Beside, he is really a nice guy since he tries to help us to understand. what he teaches is mostly on the quiz so try to understand and take note. review the power point, do the weekly quiz, have a good attendance and you will be fine.
I posted a comment on here for DR.O 4500 class which I bombed! but his 4700 class is really a piece of cake. Just show up take notes when the guest speaker comes and o the weekly case studies and you will do good. The hardest part is the grant writing test so many people bombed that test and lost their A so study study study!
Prof. Oscar is very organized and helpful. these are important factors when looking for an online class.Weekly extra credit points and easy midterms. Junk mail project is also very easy and interesting. Exams and quizzes from ppts and he provides study guides before the exams, which are very helpful.
Great teacher, nice man. He wants students to succeed and makes it nearly impossible to fail with BIWEEKLY extra credit quizzes online! The material is difficult but he knows this and tries to make it easier. I feel like the only people having trouble understanding him must not be native English speakers... He has an accent but he speaks clearly.
He makes sure to make time to meet with his students outside of class. He made it very easy to see him. He was even willing to meet me with me the same day the final paper was do. He is very enthusiastic and overall a great guy. He is strict, but he tells you what he expects. Students who spoke bad about him are probably students who skipped class.
I was first skeptical about taking 4700 with Dr. W bc of his reviews on 4500. 4700 is tough but trust me, he's your best bet for this course.Do not take anyone else! Not sure how he does it in 4500 but he was very encouraging. He always took his time to post thoughtful comments in every HW due. Just submit on time, follow instructions;you will pass!
Wambuguh is the go-to professor for HSC 4700. As long as you complete all his Case Studies and Articles Summaries EXACTLY how he wants them and on time, you'll be fine. Majority of the grade is on really on the senior portfolio, but even then, it only takes one full day to completely do the portfolio. Grant test is hard, but it's passable.
Professor Wambuguh is very tough. He's very clear that he wants everything done his way or you won't get the grade you want. He pays attention to detail and grades you down for any little mistake there is. I was very upset because I felt like he didn't care to help me, and at the end I feel that I was graded unfairly. His exams are very hard.
Had him for seminar and it was the best class I had all quarter. He's so friendly and inspirational. Loved going to advising just to have a chat. It's always good to get feedback from him because he will give you his honest opinion & his opinion is invaluable.
He gives good feedback that can help students in their future careers. If you are a senior his class will be beneficial to your success after graduation.
The only plus is the extra credit , The test are usually 1 min per question, with over 100 questions of each exam. The professor is very responsive, in regards to emails and discussion board post, and very encouraging. If your major is in the environmental field then you will do just fine. You will need the book, but most of the test focused on PP
I really enjoyed this class. His expectations are crystal clear, just do the work, try your best on the pop quizzes, ask him any questions you may have and you will pass with a good grade! The quizzes will save your grade. Good luck everyone:)
He's too kind. and He is knowledgeable about his subject. I would absolutely take his class again.
Professor Oscar is amazing. He is extremely knowledgeable. he is a great asset for CSUEB. He is also very funny which makes the class a lot less boring. This man is all about how he can make the world a better place. His class had a huge impact on how i live my life.
This class was an amazing class, learned a lot about environmental health. Oscar is extremely nice and very helpful i liked the way he structures his class i always looked forward to attending his class. I would reccomend that taking his class in person versus online. If your looking to knock out your GE requirement take this class!
I took Oscar's class last quarter and I came back on here to write how amazing he is! He is very inspirational and his lectures are entertaining, he's hilarious! He has so much energy, it will get you more into what he is teaching. After every lecture he posts extra credit quizzes that will give you extra points for a guaranteed A! Great Professor!
This class is VERY difficult!! I failed the 1st test & almost wanted to drop, but he told me as long as I do all the extra credit quizzes, I'll be fine. By the end of the semester I had an A! PowerPoints are tricky! 4 tests, semi-comprehensive final, 1 easy assignment, & e.c. quizzes weekly. He's very encouraging! Form a study group! It helped me!
GREAT professor! I took his hybrid class. There was 1 assignment, 2 midterm tests, 1 take-home-test and a final. His exams are tough & timed, but openbook/notes. He gives TONS of opportunity for extra credit by taking the weekly quizzes. W/ all the extra credit you'll get an A if you try! Take him! You wont regret! He truly cares about his students
bruh!! I dont need to say much. This man is one of the best human being on earth. Not to forget, he is very very educated!!!
Professor W. is the best professor I've probably ever had! Lots of chances for extra credit, as, genetics is not an easy subject. However, if you put in the work you will learn and do great in his class. Don't take this class if you have no interest in human biology.
Great professor! This class was online but, the whole quarter you're building up your portfolio where you submit in person. There are 5 weekly case studies the first few weeks, then 5 weekly article summaries the rest. Class is not hard, however, I recommend working on your portfolio way ahead of time. Also took him for HSC 3800 & would take again!
This was a pretty easy class, you get 5 case studies, 5 article summaries, and a tedious portfolio to do. I thought the portfolio was a waste of time, but I'm pretty sure the HSC dept. requires it, and not the professor's idea. The class would have been better if it focused on resumes, effective job searches, and cover letters. He's very nice.
I am so glad I decided to take this class with Professor W. Well structured course that enables learning. I actually liked to do the assignments and he posted inspirational comments to each of my assignments that motivated me to do well on the next one. 5 Case Scenarios, 5 Article Summaries, Portfolio, and Grant Test, EC opportunity as well.
Take him for 4700, you won't regret it! You do have weekly HW but it is all manageable. Grant test is kinda hard but it is definitely passable. Need to study for sure. He lets you miss so many questions so you can keep your A.
All student expectations were crystal clear. He grades all assignments within 3 days max so you will always know what your grade is in the class. If I ever had a question he would give me a response within 24 hours. One of the few classes I truly enjoyed at CSUEB because of this professor. Thank you.
I absolutely hate how he does things. His lectures are fine and relatively entertaining (school isn't entertaining). However, for exams, you're forced to sit there answer 150 questions and you don't get enough time to answer them so you're forced to just guess if the time is running out. Exam errors, long exams, posts assignment right before due
Oscar is a good teacher. He is upbeat and he knows his stuff. His lectures are on power points on BB. His tests & quizzes however, they're online and hard. He gives you a time limit, 1 minute per question. I often find myself guessing.. but he gives a lot of extra credit and made 85% of the quizzes extra credit. Answers questions thoroughly. Nice!
I'm so glad I took him for this course. You will learn a lot from his class. My only suggestion is to do all the quizzes cause most of them are extra credits. I strongly recommend. GL :)
Professor is a solid choice! Powerpoint Lectures with Journal Entries, Weekly Quizzes. Weekly EXTRA CREDIT Quizzes. 2 online Midterms, 1 TakeHome Midterm & 1 Final. As long as you keep up with the weekly quizzes, attend class, keep up with the journal entries, you will definitely pass the class! Study groups are strongly recommended!
Great lecturer and very personable professor. He wants students to succeed and is a very fair grader. I failed every exam, but still got an A in the class. DO THE WEEKLY QUIZZES. He counts these quizzes as extra credit at the end. He also has extra credit opportunities. Exams are long and quite hard. 1 minute per question.
Oscar is an incredibly fun and talented professor. Show up to class or you'll never understand the content, as genetics is a tough subject. The PowerPoints alone won't be enough without his commentary. Gives a TON of extra credit, and two chances on every single exam, including the midterm! One of the best professors I've ever had.
Oscar is an awesome teacher. Had him for 3200 also. Yes his class is stressful makes you work for it but gives so much extra credit and is super understanding. Go to class his lectures they are fun. No book needed all PP. Quiz twice a week and some are extra credit for midterms and finals. Passed with an A. Great teacher.
Oscar is an amazing professor! I took him for Environmental Health a couple quarters back and I decided to take him again for 4700 because he is a gem. He gives clear instructions on assignments and provides feedback and help whenever asked. He also replies very quickly when you email him, which is a plus. Highly recommend taking Oscar for sure!
Professor Wambuguh is so nice! He explains exactly what we need to know for our assignments, and is incredibly helpful when any of us has questions. It was a bit stressful taking 4700 in only 4 weeks, but professor wambuguh made it a pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend his class. I'm just bummed I didn't take classes with him sooner!
Dr. Wambuguh is an amazing professor. He is really helpful and assures you that you will pass. He knows that genetics is a very tough subject, but he makes about half of the classes assignments extra credit so that a majority of his students can pass with an A. Remember to do all the online quizzes! Half of them are extra credit!
Dr. Wambuguh is such a great person. He's everything you want in a professor--understanding, funny, and enthusiastic. His stories always made the class laugh. The class itself is easy--I highly suggest doing it for your B6 requirement. Online quizzes and exams. TONS of extra credit. There really is no way you shouldn't get an A in the class.
Oscar is great lecturer, very animated and the test material comes straight from lecture and textbooks. The syllabus is clear and he is organized. He is high energy and makes lectures fun. I highly recommend taking his classes.
Let me start by saying that his class is not one bit easy. Yes, he makes receiving an A achievable for his students. He also makes himself available for office hours. PLEASE REACH OUT TO HIM IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE! Also please team up in groups, as it makes the class much easier. The more you talk about the knowledge, the better you will perform
Do not and I repeat DO NOT take PHAP Independent Study with Wambuguh. He literally gave me my only B in this program and ruined my gpa. Literally take any other class. He didn't give us any guidance as to what was expected and was not understanding at all considering we're in a pandemic and have recently shifted to an online modality.
DO NOT TAKE INDEPENDENT STUDY WITH HIM. You do not receive proper feedback on the proposal, progress report, or final. He only grades for grammar errors and your APA formating. I LOST SEVERAL POINTS IN JUST THE REFERENCES. After doing a 16-page research paper, I was graded solely on APA format and my references???? Take any other class!!!
He is an amazing professor, his lectures are very heavy but all you really need to do is make sure your write down the jounral entrys and he gives you the powerpoints so dont bother writting down all the lecture its a waste of time. Listen for the answers for the journal entries, you dont really need to read the book, only the questions on the SG.
The passionate teachers are always the best ones and this Prof is def one of them. I took him during Covid so everything was online and I wish I would have taken him in person because I would have loved to have been more engaged with him. His test are long and heavy so def put in the work but if you study and review you will do well.
Best Pandemic Professor! I think it's impossible to not pass his class. Although the lectures and exams are a bit heavy, the guy gives you so much extra credit in half the quizzes he makes you do. If you do all his extra credit quizzes, you can get a C on a midterm and still pass the class with an A. Simply, just do the work!
Professor Wambuguh is one of the best professors I've had in my time at CSUEB. He's very energetic during his lectures and he offers a lot of extra credit opportunities. His tests are also very straightforward. Overall he's a great professor with so much positivity and energy. I would take him again for another class.
Prof Wambuguh's class is very easy as long as you attend lectures and take diligent notes as online quizzes are mainly based off his lecture. You're graded on attendance. Book is required for tests but I used older edition found online, was missing little information but still passed with A. Lots of extra credit so take advantage of it.
Professor Wambuguh's class was the ONLY one I looked forward to attending this semester (out of 5 classes). His lectures are SO interesting and engaging. It also helps that he is so easygoing, warm, and friendly. As long as you do your work/attend classes/do the readings/stay on top of your exams/quizzes- you'll do GREAT.
Professor Wambuguh is the sweetest, most understanding professor there is! Genes and Human Health is a bit challenging but he offers sooooo much extra credit that the class becomes an easy A if you stay on top all the quizzes and extra credit quizzes he offers. Literally such a sweetheart!! This was my third time taking him bc he's literally my fav
Awesome and funny professor! His class can seem overwhelming but it is because most of his quizzes are ALL E.C! Take advantage the E.C quizzes and you'll get an A! Lectures were pretty heavy and felt long. Weekly quiz, 3 exams that had 100 questions and about 20 questions a day we did for class. As long as you do the E.C, I promise you'll get an A!
Mr. Wambuguh is one of the nicest and funniest teachers. Lecture heavy get ready to type and show up to class. He does everything on a PowerPoint and recorded lecture but sometimes it is hard to understand so get a classmate's number. He makes learning this subject interesting and enjoyable.
Had a quiz due each week, had 2 mid-terms, and a optional final. Had to work on groups to turn in 10 article summaries in total, 2 for each member. And he takes serious attendance, so show up to his class if you want to pass with a good grade. There are journal entries that have you have to take note of each lecture.
Do you want to learn a random assortment of facts, often inaccurate or contradicted by the course material? Prefer being graded on irrelevant formatting rather than content? Enjoy test questions that reveal a lack of understanding of core material? If so, he's your guy. Otherwise, look elsewhere.
Prof. Wambuguh is an amazing instructor but his lectures are long! There are many quizzes and tests but he gives you 2 attempts each, so that's good. There are group assignments but it's just for article summaries and it's not really group work anyways. There is a required textbook that costs $50 on cengage but you can find the book for free online
Lectures are pretty boring, but some things are very interesting. Quizzes after every lecture, but online. Weekly group assignments but it's not a collab. All exams/quizzes are online, and fairly easy. A long JEA project due on the last day so work on it throughout the semester to lessen the blow. Overall good class and i'd take again. easy A.
There is quizzes every 5 days, attendance is mandatory. Midterms are 100+ questions. There
No regrets taking his class. Lectures were boring and long but he doesnt care if your paying attention. All exams are online, can be taken 2 times and easy. Had to download an app and pay $3 that confirms daily attendance. Article writes in groups, every week one person submits it for your group. Easy A but show up cause it's required to get an A
I would take him again in a heartbeat! Straight forward and amazing!
Professor Oscar is an amazing professor who is really dedicated and passionate about his lectures. He gives great examples to help understand the information on the slides and is easy to access. We had 2 attempts for exams and quizzes and he provided study guides that you could use during the final exam. It was a very easy class overall.
