Easy, let us take each test twice. Turned in a draft of my research project , he gave me an A on it and told me not to redo it. A in both courses with MINIMAL effort.

Very boring subject, but fairly easy class. You shouldnt get lower than a C in the class considering a 55% is a C to him and he NEVER takes role. Doesnt like it when you talk while hes lecturing though. 3 tests and 1 research paper. EASY.

This is prob one of the best classes ever. He's very funny and also lets you retakes tests. He gives easy extra credit whenever the test scores are bad. The two tests are only 20 questions!

I still don't really understand economics, but i passed the class. you can retake every test, class gets out early almost everyday, plus professor dobre keeps class interesting even though it is economics.

Seriously, as long as you read the book or pay attention in class, you should do fine, but its not a class where you can do nothing if you aren't good at econ fundamentals.

Such a cool guy. Likes to start class with outside of class discussion, i.e. seen any good movies lately? =)..funny guy. Keeps the class interesting. Does not care if you take a nap in class. I did and still pass with a B. Not much effort needed.

You must be on crack if you think the online class is hard. It was easy, one paper at the end, about 3 pages. easy A---however, the class does require you to know the stuff, but you can take the quizzes and the tests twice. took in Fall 03

HIS CLASS SUCKS! j/k it's a good class. True about wanting to know about new movies and restaurants. He's a libertarian haha. He's a cool, good, smart teacher. Knows what he is teaching. Retakes all tests, no hw required.

Compared to most teachers, he was pretty cool. Not a really hard class, and he wasnt very strict about attendance. He even gives make up exams, all and all, a great class, especially if you have to take econ.(He teaches both)

Took his class online. It wasn't easy, but Otto did everything he could to help his students understand and learn. He made econ a lot less painful than it could have been. Your best choice for an econ professor.

Good teacher for a difficult subject. His online class is well organized and interesting. Answers emails promptly. Knows the subject. I got an A with little effort, just read the material.

Can't get much easier then this. Print out the outlines and summaries and use them on the test. Ensure you take test multiple times. Print out your first results and use them on your 2nd attempt. For essay, I used notes from a previous essay and slanted it towards an econonomic viewpoint. Easy

Dobre is AWESOME!! I took Econ 120 in class and Econ 121 online. He makes it fun and the course work is straight forward, read the chapter, take some notes, and do the test. Simple.

Great teacher. Gets lazy at times and makes the class watch stupid videos but he makes up for it by letting us retake the exams. No homework!

It is a hard subject and it makes it more difficult to self study but..do quizess, take notes, read the book, write a nice econ essay and you'll be fine. I wouldn't sit in ECON class for nothing. He's a cool guy, easy to get along with.

Nice guy, talks a lil funny but who cares. Easy to get an "A" or a "B" in the class, just do the work assigned and get decent grades on his quizzes (which there arn't many of) and you're in. Mostly watched videos in class.

One of the best professors I have ever had. Very friendly and funny teacher. He explains each chapter so good that when you read the book you know almost everything. The tests are not to hard. he always gives extra credits. He is a very good professor:)

Took this class online. Two mid-terms and a final plus two small papers, some extra credit and a final 5 pg paper. Class was VERY difficult online. Reading was easy to understand, but tests were tough! It might have helped to attend his lectures to gain more knowledge about subject. Recommend taking this in class, not online.

This is the second time I've had him, and he is just an incredible professor. I reccommend that people take his lecture classes and not the online course. It's much easier to listen and learn from him than to learn the material on your own, and he makes it entertaining at the same time. Nice guy, socializes with the students, and a great professor.

Its fast and you HAVE TO read and reread. I spent 3-4hrs a day for a month studying. Getting the A requires some effort. Otto responds to emails fast and will help as much as possible. I was scared of it being online but this class was easy, IMO.

Excellent Online Course.The work load is fair,the material is thourough and he grades on a curve.The review sessions on campus are worth the information gained.The tests are a little more difficult and detailed,but most people are very capable of doing well in this class.Otto is a great teacher,take him for a teacher if you can!

I had him for 120 and 121 online and he's great. The class was pretty easy and he has study sessions before each exam. The study sessions are very helpful. The online classes aren't too overwhelming: you have some extra credits, 2 tests, 1 final, and a really easy paper. Take this class!

I took his class online over summer with 9 other units it wasn't the easiest course I have ever had but the work is fair, he responds well to emails and definately grades fairly. I highly recommend his course. Even if you are like me and didn't have a clue what you were getting yourself into.

Online class. Book's ok. Tons of materials online. He responds quickly to email. 2 tests, 1 final, 2 short papers, and 1 long paper. Normal, percentage grade scale. Read and do the work and you'll get a B. Put some effort in to studying and you'll get an A.

I had him online and he was super easy, what online classes should be. All you had to do was follow the calendar and make sure to do the tests by the due date. He even had study sessions on Saturdays prior to the test, if you can make them...go. Great, easy class, especially online, everyone should take him.

I took the online ECON class. 2 tests, 1 final, and 5-7 page research paper. You are able to make up the 2 tests but not the final. I got a C on both tests and a D on the final!!haha don't know what I got on the reasearch paper but I got a B in the class overall. Take this class!!

Everything I am reading on here from the others is accurate.... you can make up both exams and the although you cannot make up the final, As Im seeing from the others posts its all gravy because he is pretty lenient with the research papers. If your going to take Econ online - Dobre is the way to go. I got an A :)!

Great professor for online. Textbook sucked and he mentioned that, but he really came through. It's not an easy subject. He had study sessions before tests on campus.

In a word, the class was EASY. I got an A. Attendance was NOT mandatory and he gave easy extra credit assignments several times. You could retake the exam if you didn't like your grade the first time. My only complaint is that since the class was so easy, I got lazy, lost interest in the subject and I missed several classes. I enjoyed taking this class because of its simplicity. As long as you check the calendar and follow the dates to take the quizzes you're good. I took his online class. His in-class sessions are all about notes. 2 tests, 1 essay. Let's you re-take tests, taking in whichever is the higher score. Pretty simple class to follow, you don't [have] to stay in class just don't be rude about it. Notes are all relevant to tests. Very flexible with the 5 ~ 7 page essay (in terms of topic). This class was good 1 hour fun. He really teaches well. Do well on the in class tests otherwise your grade might slip. Overall, a good class--highly recommended!

Great class. I hate economics, and never thought I would understand it, but did. The makeup exams really reinforced the central material, so that you came away really knowing the important principles. Teacher was helpful, responded quickly to emails and exam questions were about main principles. If you understood those, you did OK. Great instructor

Took his summer course online. His instructions were very clear. His notes were very helpful. His grading system w midterms helped out tremendously. Admittedly, this isn't my subject but I think I learned a lot. Lots of reading, but good stuff.

I took both of his online econ classes (120 and 121) over the summer and they were wonderful. He is very clear with what he wants and he is a very fair when it comes to grades (and the curve!). I was surprised by how much I actually learned considering the class is online. I highly recommend him if you're looking for a good online econ class.

I just had an awesome semester with him. Really helpful teacher, don't make up in front of him come exact-to-the-point. He is pretty straight forward with teaching and explaining but you'll be fine after 4 weeks, i got used to it. Took his 4 week winter intersession which was extremely fast paced but not too bad. He assigned about a chapter per day, no homework other than the readings, a weekly open book test with the opportunity to make it up, one final research paper and he curves grades. He was cool, I got an A, so I'd recommend him for Econ 120.

sickest teacher ive ever had. so ridiculously easy. doesnt ask for much. had him in class and online(120&121)... theres really no point in doing inclass with him. and hes kinda cute might i say maybe a good ten years ago? ;-)

I took the 5 week online class with him, his tests are straight forward 90% of them time. THE BOOK IS NECESSARY for the online class. Very helpful, answers emails fast. Practice Quizzes help you review for the tests. Curves generously! If a little effort is put in, easy A. Recommend him! You get to use book for tests :)

Very funny teacher. Loves to talk about restaurants, movies, and his koi fish. We watched alot of "viral" internet videos from youtube for kicks to start the class. Tests were easy and practice tests online help a lot.

Otto aka Octavian, is very good professor, he understands that some students take his class for GE, so he is not driving you crazy. But if you show or tell him that you need to know he will do the best to explain and make sure you do understand. There is no book, all from lectures. Also nice, funny and very hot, in good shape for his age!

If you want to earn an A and learn something from this course, take him. He explains the material well and plain simple. He doesn't request everyone to be in the class as long as you understand the material; however, his class are always full and students enjoy attending his class.

I took his 8-week MicroEcon 121 class during the summer. Everything is right out of the book, so its all self-taught! If you do not plan on a major in economics and just need the class toward your degree plan, I suggest this teacher. There are only three tests and he offers make up tests each time. Who needs to study when you can just take the test again? There is one research paper but he is not picky.

This teacher is awesome and in general a great guy. He has an accent so you might have a little trouble understanding but he always cracks jokes and bonds with the class. And not to mention his grading scale make the class a piece of cake 55% is the bare minimum for a C

Took this class online. It was a pretty tough class. I had to study a lot. Online test questions were very in depth and you really need to know the material. If you study hard then you will do well. He also replies to emails VERY quickly

Otto is very funny always talks about soccer games and restaurants he's been to over the weekend. Econ wise he doesn't go into much depth and then shows really boring movies to cover the rest. SUPER easy class though. His tests are the easiest. (Take someone else if you're actaully really interested in learning the subject though).

Otto is a chill/funny teacher. His class is fun and he makes economics interesting. He also may or may not let you use an older edition of the book, saving you hundreds! If other teachers did this, we would save a ton in books. Updating the book every other semester is the biggest rip off ever.

I took Dobre for Econ 120 in the Spring of 2012. He is a great professor because: let's us use older editions of the book, relates current affairs to the course, makes the term paper due on the last class meeting, recommends great restaurants in the SD area, etc. I took the course b/c I need to pass a state test with econ on it & I think I will.

I LOVE HIS CLASS!! hes extremely easy and super funny. he gives out 2 tests and 1 final i think. but he let you have make up tests. he always have something funny and interesting to say so u dont get bored . if you go to class to take notes then you dont ever have to touch the book. highly recommend this teacher.

Otto is the man! One of the easiest classes at Miramar College, anyone with a brain can get an A. Tests are very easy MC, and he's always looking for ways to raise your grade through extra credit. Would def recommend and take again for 121. Can't go wrong here

He has an enthusiastic teaching style along with a great sense of humor. His tests can be tricky so understanding little differences in wording will help. He is a nice guy but if you try to take advantage of his kindness, by being talking to your neighbor or cheating, etc. he will quickly kick you out in front of everyone. Just be a good student

He is a very nice guy, but his tests are tricky! You can retake any test, but every make up test he gave us was harder than the original. The tests are 50% based on the lectures. The rest is indeed a guessing game.

He's a great and I recommend him. But you truly need to pay attention and be self-motivated. I'm usually an A/B avg but I'll probably end up with a C/D. You have to REALLY understand the material, concepts are pretty tricky. I put too much faith on these good reviews thinking that I'll get an easy A. I was so wrong. The obvious: Don't slack.

It's not often that I can say I looked forward to going to a class, but this was certainly one of them. Very enjoyable experience thanks to the professor. The tests consist of information from the lecture as well as the quizzes. You could easily pass this class with an A if you simply pay attention during the lecture and take notes.

Professor Dobre's class was great. I had him for Macroeconomics. Didn't open the book once, and skipped a few too many classes, yet I still got a B in the class. He is a really nice guy who cares about his students and manages to keep everyone engaged during his lectures. Looking forward to taking micro with him as well.

Took both his econ class, he's the best! Only 2 tests and 1 final, which means your grade depends on it. 1 research paper as well. He's really chill and funny but do not piss him off by talking or disrupting his lectures. Gives very helpful extra credits. Otto was late to class and lets you out early. He is a lot of fun to have I had him for both econ classes and I wish he taught more. People think his class is a joke and they do not show up, but then they take his tests and drop. So show up to class and listen, its an easy B, but you need work for the A.

One of the best teachers I have had. I learned a lot from his lectures, he knows the materials very well. He is really caring and responds to your emails and your questions promptly . He does not take attendance seriously, but if you want A , try not to miss any of his lectures.

Ottos a great prof, but his lectures don't cover all material you need to know for the test. So you must read the text book if you want an A. Total of 2 test each worth 25%, final worth 40%,and a paper worth 10%. He offers retakes for tests. Attendance is optional, but show up if you want the A. Also gives out non graded quizzes, use those to study

He's a funny guy, he gives short but clear and very easy to understand lectures. The 2 tests contain all the information he has talked about in class, you just need to take good notes. If they're good enough, you don't even need to study the book, even though I would recommend doing so if you are unclear of the lessons. Not stressful at all.

His lectures are entertaining but also informative, I found that for tests I didn't need much beyond what he taught. He does follow the textbook so it can be used to supplement the learning. Very funny person and cares a lot, wants to see all of his students succeed.

Very few tests, which is dangerous because they are all weighted so much. However, he gives retakes. Non-mandatory attendance is always nice I'm a big self-learner. He doesn't use blackboard which is frustrating sometimes. Classes were hit or miss, most of the time it was informative but once in a while he puts on a video that's a waste of time.

this guy does a great job of teaching the way economics work! if you go to class, take notes and write down what he says, you will forsure pass! he doesn't take attendance which is chill but majority of the grade is on the exams but he will go over the content with you before giving out the test!! Funniest professor I have ever had. Allows test retakes and is very lenient on attendance. But your grade is entirely dependent on your 2 tests, essay, and final. I wish he would have had some small homework assignments to add to the grade too for cushion. Also doesn't put grades on blackboard for you to access the whole semester, which sucked.

Take Dobre for Econ, he is the best option out there! He gives you makeup Exams, and the higher grade is kept. So you can take the exam, get a 50, comeback for the retake get a 98 and keep the 98. You have one paper at the end, but it's very straight forward. Your grade is based on the exams and final paper.

Thank GOD I took his class this semester! If you want fun lectures while actually learning things with easy A, pick him!

He really knows what he's teaching is always great with his feedback. His exams are pretty straightforward and there is a paper at the end of the semester. Professor Dobre is great! Though his grading is based on 3 Exams and 1 Essay, he makes learning Economics enjoyable. He has a GREAT sense of humor, making the class go by quickly and making Economics not as boring as it would be otherwise. I have already registered to take him next semester again! Definitely worth it if you need to take Economics!

Take this class. Easiest class I have ever taken. He grades on a curve, will answer something on the test if you dont know and gives you free points for the exams. 3 exams and a paper that he tells you not to spend much time on. Hes a quirky dude, lecture heavy with no homework, he has quizzes and the final exam as well as one essay. Wish I actually went to class more. Made economics fun. Took him for both Micro & Macro in the same semester almost back to back.

I honestly thought that this class was pretty hard. He doesn't give out any homework. Your grade is pretty much based on tests and 1 paper. His tests (at least for me) were pretty hard and definitely had to study. He lets you retake all the tests except for the final if you did bad. He also offers extra credit if you stay and watch his films.

Love this professor! Lecture is always interesting with him. He is funny, his lectures are to the point, and his quizzes and tests are really focused on his lectures, so I didn't need a textbook in his class at all. The only things graded in the class are the tests and an EASY economic paper at the end of the year. Glad to have had him :)

Best professor at Miramar. Great lectures and very approachable. Will explain things in different ways if you do not get it. Very funny and keeps the class upbeat. Delivered great video lectures during COVID that helped for the exams. If you take notes during lectures and study his quizzes, you will do great on the tests.

An amazing professor and funny man. Switching to online due to Covid-19 was a change but professor dobre made it super easy for those to follow along & kept everyone updated. Quizzes arent counted towards your grade, just to help you but the test do but you are able to retake it & he will take the higher score. Super understanding & a great prof!

He cares deeply for his students and is a lot of fun to talk to. He goes on some funny side stories that kept me listening. His tests are very similar to the quizes in class (quizes were not graded, only tests were). He puts in the extra effort to make sure students understand and have fun. I'm excited to be taking him again this next semester

His lectures are really good and I highly recommend taking notes and asking questions during class, he is always happy to answer any questions and will even take some after class. his class is super laid back, I really recommend this teacher.

Lectures are not mandatory. I did not do much in this class just take the tests and you'd pass. You're allowed to retake every test (there are three) the highest grade is kept. There is a final paper but it's only worth 10 points so honestly as long as you ace the tests no need to submit the final paper. Do as you will with that information ;)

I took this class fully online. He would post weekly lectures and quizzes that were not mandatory. No homework or assignments so it was really up to you to read the online textbook and watch his lectures for the exams. Very fair grading and he was easy to access online. Would take again and would recommend!

Took his class online. Very easy-going and relaxed professor. He provided the textbook. The grade was based upon two quizzes and a final. He even gave an option to take both quizzes again and used the higher score towards the grade. Awesome professor!

Only tests are graded. Amazing teacher and very passionate and takes his time to teach students. It is best to listen to lectures and take notes to do well on the tests. He does provide retakes for the tests.

I had this professor for ECON 120 and what I have to say is that his class is easy IF you attend ALL his lectures. The quizzes he gives out are really good study guides along side in-class lecture notes. You get make-up exams except for the final exam (cumulative). If you take his ECON 121 class it'll pretty much be the same teaching style.

Professor Dobre is a great lecturer but also cares about his students. He enjoys talking about TV shows as well. Attendance was taken for the first few classes, but it became optional after that. There are three exams and a 3-page research paper during the class. As long as you attend the lectures, there isn't anything difficult to worry about.

3 Tests and a lot of reading an EASY A+ IF you are self taught and do the reading BUT the professor is always available to help if needed.

I recommend both Micro and Macro with Otto, he doesn't make you buy a book you won't use. Quizzes/tests are directly off his lectures; in his words, paraphrased, "Don't go study before hand, I will teach you everything you need to know for your tests and quizzes". He breaks down concepts very well, and as he would say "not everyone is a math major"

Very funny professor, only grades you in 2 exams, final exam, and research paper. He allows retakes for all exams tho. Take him

A cool dude, but he gives the vibe of "I usually teach online classes" because he just spits information at you during class. The "quizzes" are not for a grade but are actually "study guides", and he gives out no homework, so you don't get any actual practice of what you will be doing in an exam. HE WILL HELP YOU IF YOU ASK QUESTIONS DURING EXAMS.
