Good lectures, learned a lot about geology, seems to care about your grade. Tests can be a bit tough but he provides study guides.

It was his first semester teaching here but the course still seemed very well set-up with the exception of a few incomplete lab assignments. The tests were straightforward and did not have any unfair questions. He always offered extra meeting times before tests as well as office hours. This class requires participation through quizzes in class.

Considering it was Owen Anfinson's first semester as a teacher he did a fine job. Geology is not something I was originally interested in, but after taking this class I now have a strong interest in this field. Tests were extremely easy and most of the info comes from lectures, thus the book may not be necessary. I recommend taking this class.

Owen's a really great professor who clearly cares about his students. He does what he can to make sure we succeed. He gives extra credit occasionally and he also gives study guides which make the tests easy (no surprises). His lectures are not long at all and he makes geology interesting because of his obvious passion for the subject.

Honestly I wish every teacher was like him! He's so nice and always shows up to class energetic and ready to teach. It's a tough subject to learn so the moment you don't understand something go to his office hours he will be more than happy to help because he wants everyone to pass however he wants to to learn, not just hand everyone an A.

Owen is really understanding and is willing to help as long as you ask. His tests are somewhat difficult but he does open up his office hours during test weeks so you can ask more questions on lab or lecture. He is also willing to give many extra credit points which really helps in the long run! I would recommend Owen to any of my friends.

He doesn't curve tests much so do well on them. The lab exams are definitely harder than lecture exams. I didn't really need to study for this class and have an A in it.

Owen is a genuine teacher who cares whether his students pass or fail. He gives many extra credit opportunities. There are Socrative quizzes almost daily which counts as attendance. He posts all his lectures online and goes over in class what you will be tested on. Overall a fantastic teacher and is very responsive to email. Very good looking :)

Owen is an excellent professor with a vast knowledge of Sedimentology. He is enthusiastic about the subject, and is up to date with current events. He has everyone work in pairs, probably because 2 minds work better than one. He also reviews the answers so that everyone learns what is correct, which helps avoid confusion.

Owen is an awesome teacher, definitely goes above and beyond to help you understand the material. You can get a good grade if you just participate and try to learn. He can provide you with other sources of help if he is not available to assist.

Owen is one of the best professors I've had at SSU so far! You can tell he loves what he does, and that makes the class so much better than it would be without him as the professor. As long as you pay attention and go to his lectures, you'll for sure get a good grade. He was also really funny and easy to talk to so that's a plus!

Memorization has never been my strong suit, but Professor Anfinson's lectures allow for reiteration in a memorable way. He connects baffling geological concepts to relatable environments and areas relative to his audience. Prof. Owen is easily one of the best professors SSU has to offer. What's special about Anfinson is that he deeply cares about his love for Geology, and is inspirational. Even though I won't pursue a career in Geology, he makes you want too. Many professors are not passionate about what they do, and it makes a HUGE difference when they are.

Owen is great ! I had him for my Geology lab and he was super cool, added extra credit to one of our test just because he forgot to add a extra credit question and makes the class super interesting. You do have to go but if you pay attention and go to the reviews you will be fine

Just show up for all labs and youll pass. Owen is very funny and easy going. Although this semester was a little hectic considering the wild fires and power outages, he managed to make sure students know the materials needed to pass the lab exams.

I just took this lab class over the winter break and it was a really great experience. Overall, he is a really chill and funny man who really connects with his students. Attending lectures is not that crucial overall, but you don't want to miss lab. Professor Owen Anfinson has once again been my favorite professor, for the second semester in a row. He respects his students and wants them to learn, and he puts so much effort into doing his best to enable them to do so. He is a pure joy to listen to due to his wit, comedy, and knowledge. He's a wonder professor and is an even greater person.

I took this class during COVID so it was online. Personally I thought he did a great job at adjusting to the current situation. The geology department allowed us to have remote access to the lab so we didnt miss out on things like ArcGIS. Some of the labs were difficult and to get an A you have to pay attention and do the work.

Owen is a fantastic professor who I have had the pleasure of having for multiple classes over the past couple years. He cares deeply about his students and it pays off in class. He has always been helpful and enthusiastic in class, and singlehandedly made me start caring about sand. I'd give him a 6/5 if I could.

Professor Anfinson made online enjoyable, so I can only imagine how he is in person. Fun, approachable, and passionate about his work, he does his best to immerse you in his course, all while making sure the material is communicated clearly and remains digestible, even when given in large chunks ( took his winter course ). Prof Owen knows his earth logic! He did his best to make learning about rocks and the earth, fun, memorable and diverting. I took the class during covid, so over zoom and if it wasn't for his presentation slides I would have been lost. Each lecture was "superpositioned" so that the material made sense and build off each other- it was enjoyable 5/5!
