I REALLY DIDN'T LIKE THIS CLASS AT FIRST, HOWEVER, ONCE YOU GET THROUGH ALL OF THE BASICS AND START MAKING ARGUMENTS & STUDYING FALLACIES, YOU REALIZE HOW PASSIONATE HE IS ABOUT WHAT HE TEACHES. HE IS VERY WILLING TO HELP BUT ONLY IF YOU'RE WILLING TO PUT IN THE TIME. HE'S ALSO PRETTY FUNNY, BUT DOESN'T ALLOW MUCH OF A LOSS OF FOCUS IN CLASS :)

He's enjoys the subject and he's a lot of fun.

Really good professsor. Knows his material and loves the subject. He is very funny and a little sarcastic but it makes class interesting. I had him in a 3 hour long class and it flew by. Tests are hard, but he gives study guides and is always willing to help students who try. Overall he is AWESOME

Pillion is fabulous in every sense of the word. He's hilarious, so going to class isn't so bad (by the way, attendance is mandatory). He's very motivated and makes the material interesting. You can learn a lot from this man.

I have taken two classes with him so far. He is one of my favorite professors because he makes you work hard to get a good grade, and you have to come to class. I have learned so much from his classes, and if you are a COMM major definitely take him. He is very fair and willing to help & his classes are interesting.

Great professor. Very strict about absences and tardies, which is good for those of us who show up as required. Uses fun movies and tv show clips to demonstrate Interpersonal Comm. concepts to break up the class. He's pretty entertaining, too. Tests were difficult; just make sure you know the material very well.

OWEN IS GREAT! totally my one of my favorite proffessors! I do not like to work extra hard in most classes but he requires it and I actually like it, he pushes you to be do the best you can. He is really funny and has a lot of sass. Do not take if you plan on being late often he hates that :) enjoy!

Only issue: The syllabus was 7 pages long and filled with all kinds of rules and warnings.By the end of the term, everything seemed to really loosen up. Doc, you're the kind of guy who offers to Netflix resources for students with your own account.That's super-cool, but I never would have guessed it from the beginning. Thanks for a great term!

He was a very good teacher, not incredible, but good. I noticed that everyone in the class imporved steadily as the semester went on.

It would be nice if we could have a little more room for creativity in the future. For example, if we could choose our own topics for most or all of the speeches, that would be better. On a positive note, it was a very useful class in getting us up in front of others and helpiing us to be more comfortable there.

At the beginning of the semester, I was kind of scared to stay in the course, but as the semester went by, I found myself actually improving. Great professor, always willing to go the extra mile for his students.

Sassy Little thing but totally Hilarious! Really cares about students and no matter how strict he seems to act....he just cares about improvement!!

The guy is hilarious and you always know what to expect. Comes off initially like he's too good for everyone, but its just a front. He really is a very cool guy and the class is pretty straight forward. I would recommend him if you need to take the course. If you do your work and attend class you'll be fine..Beware of pop quizes though, there are 4

I was intimidated by him at the beginning of the semester and a bit weary about him as a professor but as the semester went on I learned that he really does want what is best for his students and my public speaking skills improved immensely. It is because he sets the bar so high that you push yourself to work harder.

VERY INTIMIDATING at the beginning of the semester.You have to show up to classes on time.I did learn alot.When you do presentations make sure it flows and not one person presenting at a time.High expectations, but in a VERY good way considering you're taking a college level class.

(Group Discussions) He has high expectations but that is because he wants students to try and learn something. He finds clips of reality tv shows and uses them as illustrations for the class which I found extremely helpful for learning the material. He wants students to excel, just be aware that this requires a good deal of work and effort.

Listen to him because he is very clear about what he wants and expects from you. You will learn exactly what you signed up for. Went through almost the whole text book. Great teacher that knows what he is teaching and encourages his students to be better.

Is it true, he really cares about his students and wants you to succeed. Very nice guy

He's great! Personally. Explains things thoroughly and does not give loooong boring lectures. Must not miss less than 2 days of class. Requires you to read chapters because he has pop quizzes. He "channels" your grade. :) you'll get it if you get into his class. :) LOL

he is a very educated and inteeresting teacher. he can definitley get you to laugh! juat make sure you read your text book and TRY. he expects you to, obviously.

Professor Pillion is Very Intelligent, he holds a very Interesting,and Educational Class. I took this class during the summer and we had to give speeches every week. I left the class feeling more confident in my communication & critical thinking skills. If you have the desire to learn this class is for you. I loved it! I'm looking forward to Com102

Dr. Pillion's COM101 class is a skills based class, not a survey or lecture class. He expects you to show up on time and give 100%. That being said, he will bend over backwards to give you all the tools you need to get the grade you deserve. If you want an A you must strive for excellence in his classes. On of the best profs I've ever had.

I loved this class, and this is coming from someone who hated public speaking with a passion! Professor Pillion is one of the best professors i've had so far. He gives you the tools you need to be a outstanding public speaker. He's also funny nd' nice, strict attendance policy though. Take his class you won't regret it! :)

Dr. Pillion is a great teacher. He is strict about attendance, but classes go by fast. He may even motivate you to pursue a career in communications.

There are a lot of criterion for the paperwork, as long as you keep up with those standard. There will be no problem to have A in his class. He also shows some reality TV shows to demonstrate his theory. I like his class.

The class is fairly easy

Great professor, very witty and funny. Made the class interesting. I learned a lot from him. Attendance is mandatory, but I enjoyed his class nonetheless.

VERY HARD!!

Excellent professor! Pop quizzes that are easy if you study the vocab in the book. 3 speeches explaining concepts in the book - 2 group and 1 solo. Solo speech has a paper component. He is CRYSTAL CLEAR about his requirements and makes the course interesting. Follow directions and you'll not only excel, but you'll learn practical information.

Funniest teacher ever!!! Def. taking another class with him.

Great Professor. Make sure to read and go to class. He is very clear on what you need to do and is helpful if you slip up. TAKE HIS CLASS.

prof. pillion is the best, read the book before class, show up ON TIME and you should be ok. he makes the class very interesting and i would recommend him to every one. i plan on taking more classes with him. 5 stars to Prof pillion

This professor changed my whole world - I realized that Communication is my field and subsequently changed my major. He is one of the best profs I have ever had - definitely challenging but certainly worth it! Just be ready to work hard - you must EARN your grade.

Interpersonal communication is a wonderful class and real-life application allows for better interactions with others. Dr. P is a fantastic prof - I'll be taking my FIFTH class with him this spring and looking forward to it!

Group communication is very helpful in increasing good group dynamics, developing better leadership skills and conflict resolution tools. Dr. P is a wonderful professor who utilizes a lot of media clips to clearly illustrate the concepts we study. Very well thought out - learned a ton!

This class is really interesting; it's a smorgasbord of communication - we take a superficial look at most of the concepts. I've enjoyed this class immensely. Dr. P is very challenging but it is well worth it. Study hard!

If you are willing to work hard and raelly get better in public speaking this is the professor for you! However, don't take his calss if you are lazy, just saying...

He's a good teacher but a hard grader. Uses great aids for the class. If he doesn't see what he wants from you, you're not gonna do well in his class.

Seriously the best proffesor I've had thus far. I can honestly say that I was terrified to have to take a public speaking course and I dreaded it. But Dr. Pillio made it worth while. Yes it was hard work, and if you didn't put enough effort into it you didn't get a good grade. But overall his teaching made me enjoy his class.

Professor Pillion is great. He is friendly, helpful, and makes class interesting. He appreciates a good presenter, especially because you will be presenting three projects during this class.

Dr. Pillion is an good professor, mostly because he's smart though. The first speech is a little difficult but after you KNOW what he wants you're fine. Just take all of his advice and don't wait until the morning of your speech to put it together, that doesn't work too good. Although 2 out of 3 times I got a B on the speeches I delivered.

regardless of what anyone says about him this professor is the best professor I've ever had. He's funny, friendly, and pretty easy. I'm a frequent ditcher but I never wanted to miss his class, he supplies you with moer than enough information and makes getting an A easy its just up to you if you want to try or not.And he's adorable.

Dr. Pillion is a fantastic teacher and mentor. His class is very well constructed and you can tell he has put a lot of thought into the work. At first it may seem scary because of the work but as long as you can follo directions and have an open mind i recommend this class to anyone under the sun. I had a wonderful time in the class!

I could write a book about Prof. Pillion. I was MORTIFIED of taking speech class, but since his class, I'm enrolling in all other classes he teaches even though I'm not a Com major, just so I can take his classes. He is fair, helpful, hilarious and really wants you to succeed. Prompt to respond to emails, and is really enjoyable. LOVE YOU MR P!!

Awesome Guy Great teacher!This Is the Best Com Professsor at the School HOWEVER BE WARNED!!!!!! This class is NOT EASY. Take this Course if you wish to become a Great Public speaker. If you just need a few communication credits i cannot recomment taking this course. One Love :)

I failed to pass my COM 101 class and had to retake it. I took it with Dr. Pillion and he actually convinced me to change my major to Communications. He makes class enjoyable, but structured at the same time. He grades hard, but is clear when he teaches and isn't hard to understand. Definitely take COM 101 with Dr. Pillion! He is amazing!

Dr.Pillion is a great teacher. Doc tells you exactly how he wants his speechs done. If you have questions he is always there to help. Dr. P is very professional and organized. he knows exactly what each day is going to be like. Attendance is required, his class is so fun you would not want to miss it anyways. Gives you lots of work but it is easy.

This professor goes above and beyond. He has been my favorite instructor so far. I have learned how to publicly speak efficiently and had fun while doing it. He has interesting speech topics to speak on and makes lecture very interesting. I would highly recommend taking this class!

At the beginning of the semester, I was really nervous about taking this class. However, with Dr. Pillion as the professor, I ended up loving the class. He's funny and makes difficult concepts easy to understand. As long as you complete readings and study, you should pass with flying colors.

I dreaded taking this class, took it during summer 13. I loved how he made it easier for you to understand therefore making speaking in front of classes a little less awful. Hes kind of a diva but i loved it, don't upset him . Also definitely show up on speech day! Passed with a B , earlier that year i withdrew from another COM101 class.

I took Dr. Pillion for my COM 216 class and he was fantastic. He makes everything he teaches crystal clear and what he expects out of his students crystal clear. If you follow his guidelines and study you'll have no trouble earning an A or B. Very friendly, very hilarious guy. I would recommend taking him!

I really enjoyed taking this class. His lectures are enjoyable and he gets along with the students. Just keep up with the key terms in the text book and take notes. I'd say there is an emphasis on focus and effort. Would recommend this professor for any Communications class.

I would recommend this teacher completely. He is very clear on everything, he gives you rubrics for every speech and his few quizzes and mid term and final are a piece of cake. Do what you are supposed to do and you will pass with an A!

Dr. Pillion is a fantastic teacher. He is really nice and very helpful. The quizzes aren't very hard and as long as you keep up with the key terms in the book, you'll be fine. His grades are a bit harsh, but if he can tell that you are really trying, you'll do great. Plus, he usually gives out extra credit. I highly recommend Dr. Pillion.

He is an amazing instructor and he really is the best out there. you came to college to learn and he forces you to do that.

This teacher is AMAZING! 4 speeches, 2 exams, 2 quizzes. Exam and quizzes are extremely easy! He offers extra credit as well! He will take any fear you have of public speaking! He wants you to do good and you will if you take all the advice he gives you.

Pretty good COM professor but he makes it hard to get an A because reading is necessary for the class. I took his online COM 299 class which was with two other professors. The interviewing processing was very time consuming. Not the best in my opinion.

One of the best professors CSN has, and one of the best I've had in college. He tells you EXACTLY how he wants things and he also incorporates fun into his classes. Extremely helpful with any question you might have. Completely recommend this professor Highest of recommendations.

Very good professor. Lectures are short and he is very funny, keeps you interested. Not too much work, just usual speeches and outlines. A little tough when grading but he is very helpful and gives good feedback. Would take his class again.

Dr. Pillion is a great professor and really down to earth with his students. He super funny and very reasonable. Attendance is mandatory and he hates cell phone use. He has easy tests if you take notes and pay attention and just one or two clear projects. Would definitely take again.

Owen is a great teacher! Assignments are not difficult if you practice your speeches, tests are very easy, and his grading is fair. He really cares about the material he teaches and wants students to engage- so attendance is required. If this weren't my last semester at CSN I'd take another COM class just because I'd want him as my professor again!

Dr. Pillion is an incredible professor. Not only does he want his students to succeed, he also helps them do so by always being available for extra help and feedback. Because of him I changed my major to communications. He makes speaking in front of class fun. Practice your speeches, know what he asks you to know and you will do great!

Dr. Pillion is the best COM prof out there! This class is not really an easy A; you have to earn it. Show up to class, take notes - write down everything he says, follow his speech format, etc., and you'll get that A. I hated public speaking, but after this class, I don't mind it so much anymore. Take him if you want to be a better speaker :)

i love owen pillion. His examples make everything easy to understand which makes him better than another professor i took at csn. Just make sure to read each chapter and stay on top of things and you should do well. We watch alot of videos.

I dreaded taking this class because I was too anxious speaking infront of a crowd. However, Dr. Pillion made me a lot more comfortable to do my speeches as time progressed in the semester. He is very helpful and gives great feedback. He is clear on what he expects. Gives outline w the speeches. Class isnt easy, you have to work for it!

Dr. pillion was a great instructor. I can say hes the best speech instructor. He is on point with everything. And makes sure everybody is comfortable talking in front. He has the best outlineformat for speeches thats why most students that win the speech festival were his students. Hes very funny and nice. Just make sure you study and practice!

Although the professor does go over course concepts relatively well the tests are still really hard and the final project is the hardest project I've done so far being in collage. Sometimes professors need to realize that we are still an undergraduate and not in a masters program.

Very reasonable professor, he's very clear with his direction and the way his class operates. The class has some work put if you stay on top of everything getting a good grade is definitely obtainable. I definitely would recommend his class to anyone.

Dr. Pillion is good at what he teaches. You must read the chapters he assigns. Thanks to this class and him inspiring me, I went from majoring in Paralegal Studies (2 year degree) to changing my major to Communication, eventually transferring to UNLV in order to ultimately go to Law School. He's so awesome I will be taking his COM 102.

Love him! He makes Public Speaking more than bearable. If you are dreading this class at all, take him! He's a bit strict about phones and attendance but it's nothing unreasonable. He gives some extra credit, do it because it is few and far between. He's funny and actively tries to help you succeed and lose your fear of speaking. Highly recommended

His class is tough. But if even though it's tough just follow the criteria and you will pass. Also, attendance is a must and kind of aggravating at times. The class it's self isn't too hard. I'm an incredibly shy person and i got a high C in his class.

This was a great class to be in, it really helps. He not the kind of person to just give you the grade you want. Be ready to work, study, read and practice a lot. As long as you do exactly what he wants, and he really specific about the way he wants it, you will do fine. DON'T BE LATE TO CLASS ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S SPEECH! Overall a fun class.

My favorite teacher! He cares and is entertaining. Thought was going to be a "throw away" pre-req but I think of it and use the skills learned often thanks to Dr. P. You MUST try, participate, put in effort and show up or you will not pass this class. Fair and fun but strict. Worth it!

Dr. Pillion is amazing. I am petrified of public speaking and I actually looked forward to going to his class. He is hilarious, clear with what he wants, and gives very constructive criticism. Follow his outline. 2 of my classmates placed 1st and 2nd at the public speaking festival following his format. He knows what he is doing.

This was the hardest, yet most rewarding class I took while at CSN. Dr. Pillion is an incredible professor and only wants the best for his students. If you're looking for an easy A, this isn't it. He's funny and wonderful professor. I didn't like do speeches until I took his class. He persuade me to do the public speaking festival. It was a good experience. Don't procrastinate, speeches are worth a lot of your grade. He makes your speeches look better than most professors at CSN. I would recommend taking him.

I took Dr. Pillion last semester and still look back on his class as being my favorite! He's hilarious and inspirational, and his class can be easy if you put in a little work. Speeches were graded kind of tough, but he makes it clear what he wants. He offers some extra credit that helps. Would definitely take him again if my major called for it!

Amazing professor. Makes you want to give speeches. There are about 5 speeches in the class overall but you have enough time to prepare. Teaches you a lot and is very respectful towards everyone. Gets rid of any fears. Took him about a year ago and wish I could have taken him for 102. Great choice for professor! Really is passionate about job.

He gives pop quizzes, so make sure you read or else you'll fail them. Strict grader and many rules for speeches. Tends to speak his mind and can sometimes come off very rude. Must attend class daily. Overall, good class but you'll definitely have to work hard for your grade. Extra credit opportunities are given throughout the semester.

Prof. Pillion is a great professor. There is a lot of reading for this course and there is pop quizzes but he'll give out hints so pay attention. The assignments can be tedious but they're not hard. He gives great feedback and actually reads what you write. DON'T use your phone in class and you'll stay on his good side.

He knows what he is doing, he is prepared to lecture and is very organized. If you are a shy at public speaking he will help you become a good speaker. I am taking his summer class and he has made the classroom environment so comfortable that I speak to everyone in there. Take him!

Dr. Owen Pillion is an excellent professor. His group communication class relies strongly on clips of reality TV, a perfect medium to impart the concepts and application of group dynamics, then we crafted and delivered presentations for maximum effectiveness. Take his class and be a better, more skilled communicator. He's truly remarkable.

took a summer course over 6 weeks. He was a great professor very organized you know exactly what you are doing everyday. Used the textbooks often and the quizzes are a mix of lecture info and book terms, definitely take good lecture notes and pay attention to the specific words that he uses when describing terms, slightly sarcastic but funny

Took this class over a six week summer term. Dr. Pillion is a great professor. Don't miss class or you will miss out on valuable quiz and test info. He truly cares to make you a better public speaker. Take all of his tips and you will come out of this class with a great life skill under your belt.

Pillion gives great feedback, because his grading criteria is clear and he comments specifically what is needed or what was good about the presentation. You have to go to class or else you'll fail. He's inspirational in a way that makes me feel more confident each time I present by giving me not so harsh critiques.

Doctor Pillion is a great professor if you're a dedicated student who does their work. If you come to class late, don't do work on time, then he's not so nice. if you come to class and you work for it he's a really awesome prof who cares about your success. Speeches are challenging but he's accessible outside of class and does all he can to help.

Okay so Dr. Pillion is a very nice professor and a great teacher but he is a very tough grader. You cannot wing this class because Pillion is very tough and strict on grading. If you get an A in this class consider yourself a truly excellent student because I have never seen him give an A to anyone. he's challenging but a very helpful professor

One of the best Professors by far! His lectures are awesome and interesting. Must show up to class. Missing one lecture can hurt your grade on a quiz or test because some of the test question are things covered in class. Wish i could take Dr. Pillion again!

I hated public speaking but I had no choice since I had to take it for credit. Dr. Pillion helped so much with speaking in public. I always forced myself to go first to get over my fear of public speaking. Take this class seriously because I learned a lot. Very funny teacher, looked forward to coming to class.

If you want to REALLY learn how to master public speaking, take Dr. Pillion. I went into his class TERRIFIED to speak in front of people, but now I absolutely love it because of him. He pushes you to do the best you can and honestly if you follow his structure and take his advice you will do great. 1 pop quiz, 3 major speeches, show up to class.

He is an overall nice professor. I found the content and difficulty of the class rather boring and easy. I did have trouble in the class due to public speaking is my #1 fear. I would take another class from him. I am still curious as to what his psych himself up song he listens to right before he gives a speech is . He refused to tell us.

Dr. Pillion is definitely a must take for all COM majors out there looking for a quality teacher. His quizzes and exams are 90% based on his lectures so, pay attention, go to class, and take good notes. He offers extra credit on his tests, but overall, you're grade will equal the amount of effort you put in.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE PROFESSORS EVER! He is super funny and wants you to do well. Gives great feedback. 5 speeches. First is 90 seconds, second 4-6 minutes, third 5-7, fourth is an impromptu (super easy!) and last is 7-10. Overall my favorite course taken so far.

Dr. Pillion can be intimidating at first, but his goal is to make you a great speaker and if you listen to him- he absolutely will. He is an expert at public speaking and is very encouraging. His class helped me get through speach anxiey and made me feel awesome when I accomplished a speech. He is willing to help you if you put in effort.

Go to class on time. Read the assigned chapters, they help with quizzes. Take notes. Follow directions on given assignments and communicate via email or office hours, if you have questions. I found Dr. Pillion's class to be nerve-wracking (taken during summer) but enjoyable because I always knew what was being expected of me. Get ready to laugh.

I took Dr. Pillion the summer of 2017, it was only 23 days of class. He is very caring and understanding. He makes you work hard for that grade, but its worth it. He is hilarious and makes class so much fun. Never a dull moment. Be prepared though. I would take him again.

He is the type to think of his own lectures and not follow the textbook which wasn't a problem for me because it related to the book anyways. Great teacher has a lot of laughs gives you good feedback on your presentations.

I was terrified of public speaking before going into Professor Pillion's class, but after this semester I've learned to be totally ok with it. He really made sure you knew what you were doing and gave very specific instructions on how you should do your presentation. He makes you work for that A, but definitely worth it!

English is not my first language. At the beginning I was a bit nervous. But I ended up learning a lot. This class, and this professor, boosted self-confidence. I have improved a lot since I took his class. At leaps and bounds.

I LOVED THIS CLASS. If you're nervous about giving speeches this class really helped. Dr. Pillion is like a stage mom on speech days! EVERYONE has to give a speech remember that. This class helped me lose alot of social anxiety and I really would recommend it. There are I think 4 speeches and a speech festival at the end! SIGN UP YOU WONT REGRET IT

Taking ONE four month semester helped me understand and improve in public speaking more than 2 years of speech and debate did for me. If you pay attention in class and find the real value of his knowledge for your life, you will grow exponentially. Tip: FOLLOW THE SPEECH STRUCTURE OR YOU WILL NOT PASS! VERY tough grader and rightfully so.

He is an amazing professor. I'm an Introvert and not only did I enjoy the class, but it made me actually enjoy public speaking so much that I changed my major from medicine to Business.

I am a returning student after 40 years and Dr. Pillion has made me feel more comfortable and I learned so much not only about public speaking but about life's lessons. Do take this course if you have respect for yourself and others, turn off your phone and be on time. If you listen , you will do well.

The summer course is a sixteen week class condensed into 23 classes. This was the best professor I've ever had. Put your phone on silent, show up 5min early, and write everything down! Listen to everything he says because he gives hints on when the quizzes will be and what's on them and he's also so so so funny.

You can only miss 4 class periods before he starts lowering your grade a letter per missed class. The lectures normally get out early and he makes it really easy to follow along. It's easy to pass if you listen to the lectures and follow his specific speech structure.

Professor Pillion is a very prideful individual, but that has never once stopped me from liking his class and his teaching method. While his feedback for your speeches can come back as very harsh at times his feedback does help you improve. This was easily my favorite class from my other 3 classes I was taking at the time.

Dr. Pillion is a great professor who encourages you to do your best in his class. He assigned four presentations, all with varying expectations. As long as you prepare each presentation before hand and apply all the tips he gives you, you should be fine.

Pillion is a good teacher. Follow his lectures and that's pretty much how the exams/quizzes are based. If you do everything he asks, you'll get a C. If you want an A, you definitely will work for it! Dr. Pillion is awesome, he has a clear grading system, and as long as you take notes and ask questions you will pass. The speeches are not difficult, and his feedback is awesome. Will be back in his class for 102 next semester!

Honestly the class isnt that difficult. Follow his speech structure and you will pass. 3 quizzes, 2 exams and 4 speeches. Can only miss up to 3 classes then he starts dropping your grade by letters. He is super funny and gives good advice.

He's very clear and precise about what he wants from you and how he wants it done. He makes things very simple without any gray areas - it's just up to you as the student to do the assignment/presentations the way he wants it done.

Great Teacher! Gives links related to com101 instead of buying textbook. Pay attention or else will fail. Big on speeches, practice your speech and you should be fine. Not heavy on hw either, mainly just speech assignments.

Dr. Pillion is an amazing professor. I took his COM 102 class this semester and I am glad I did. This professor really cares about the course and his students. He puts a lot of work and dedication into his lectures. He also gives amazing feedback. I recommend never missing a day of class as you will miss a ton of information if you do. Write notes!

He was a great professor. I'm not a great public speaker, but he was very helpful with giving tips and how to do better. He can be pretty strict at times when it comes to criteria and the work you do. Just do your best, take into account the advice he gives, show up, take notes, and you'll do fine.

Great class that really helps people breakthrough their public speaking anxiety. There's a lot of presenting of course, and the lectures were interesting and helpful. As long as you follow the outline for each speech, you should be good.

Take Owen! You will be so glad you did ! You learn so much in his class. I took it online but I am so glad it was with him, he organizes everything perfect to make it easy to stay on track. Class was over the summer and it consisted of 2 exams, 2 major projects , and about 3 other assignments. He gives great feedback which motivates you!

I took Professor Pillions COM101 class online, and it is one of the easiest classes I have ever taken. His lectures are very informational, and you do need to take notes but you can just take it on google docs and speed up the lecture if needed. Everything was straight forward, and even extra credit was given. Overall, I loved this class.

Professor Owen was amazing. I enjoyed that even though this class was online his lectures were all up to date. You clearly need to do the work to get the grade you desire. That simple and I do recommend taking his class again.

I took him for COM 102 and I loved him. He makes the class interesting and he's funny. Pretty easy class just make sure you took good notes from his lectures and study, if you do that you'll most likely pass with an A. Not much assignments but the ones you do have are really easy. 10/10 recommend. Easy class but you learn a lot.

Watch the Videos; if you don't do anything else, watch the videos and take NOTES! Once I did this, I understood the assignments more, and as a student with a LD, he explained everything and was funny with it. I struggled at first, but I got it and passed the class! Take him. Mr. O is a wonderful teacher! Make sure you watch his weekly lecture videos and TAKE NOTES. He is extremely clear on what he asks of you; you will do just fine if you FOLLOW directions. He responds quickly and is always helpful. He is a very fair grader as well. I learned so much, and he made the idea of public speaking so smooth and easy!

I was expecting this to be my easiest class, but you have to put in a lot of time. You MUST MUST MUST listen to ALL lectures to do well on his tests. I scored pretty low on his first test because it's a lot of "fill in the blanks" And I was honestly expecting multiple choice. If your notes aren't detailed, then don't expect to do well on his tests.

One of best online courses Ive had. Was anxious about speaking, but saw so much improvement. Gives very detailed feedback. You must watch his lectures and follow directions to do well. Exams were straight out of his lectures I ended up liking the class way more than I thought I would, if you want to improve your speaking skills, take him.

Owen truly gifts his students with a unique experience. Of course he is tough on his grading but he never keeps anything from his students. He tells you exactly what he wants and how to achieve excellence but he is honest. I would take his class a million times over and if you are asking yourself if you should take his course, yes! Do it.

He was the professor that encouraged me to continue college after i went through a stage of deep depression since i was gone from his class for over a month, he emailed me a few times wondering if i was okay. I am proud to say that he was also the one to help me get out of my shell. He really care for his students. I recommend his class.

he was really good. just be wary he gives blunt feedback, BUT becuz he wants students to improve. He won't be mean if you follow the rubric and PRACTICE. Homework and quizzes can make up for bad speech grades btw. I had a lot of fun and laughed so much in his class. If you want to actually improve in public speaking, take him!!

Professor Pillion teaches very well and helps you to know how to be a better speaker. He gives clear instructions for speeches. If you just follow the outline and guidelines you should be just fine. Pay attention and participate. My only problem was it felt like the speeches were graded a little harshly and at a higher level than a COMs 101 class.

The class is all lecture so notes are a MUST! We did 2 tests, 3 presentations, and 1 essay there was no other homework. He gave great online resources to further understand the topics we discussed in class. But test are based ONLY on his lectures! Overall super great and I wish I had taken him for COM101!

great professor one of the best professors that I have had he really helped me with my speeches and is very caring and the tests are sometimes a bit hard but there is one persuasive speech one informative speech as well as one Impromptu speech and two tests really easy class if you are on top of it.

Professor Pillion was a great teacher during my semester. He has a lot of amazing passion for his subject. He does critique a bit harshly but it's good to hear that stuff. He does a good job helping students come out of their bubble and really works with the student as much as possible. There are also a lot of extra credit opportunities to take!

I recommend using a laptop for notes. Quizzes are easy, reviews prior are provided. The grading rubric and outlines for assignments are easy to follow. If you are confused about anything make sure to talk to him prior presenting. Provides opportunities for extra credit! 10/10 would take this class again. He explains the material very well in class

I took this class over the summer. It was paced pretty well, it didn't feel too rushed and he explained everything clearly. There were 4 main speeches, 2 quizzes, and some assignments. He did give us an option to do a do over speech at the end. The only thing that bothered me was how he would laugh or make faces during people's presentations.

Professor Pillion is a very straightforward educator, and attendance matters! He was very lenient when grading the first speech, but he grades stricter on the other speeches (besides the final one). He is sort of sassy. He writes detailed, honest feedback on the speeches. The quizzes are very helpful if you are terrible at public speaking.
