Awesome professor! Tests were very strait forward, just study the notes and you will be fine. The final wasn't too bad either. Attendance isn't mandatory due to Course Capture, but it is recommended. Go to her office hours if you need help. She is a very nice lady who wants to see her students succeed in her class. Definitely take her!
New professor to the school, extremely easy in the beginning but gradually her tests became harder and harder. The final was insane; she added 10 points to each grade and even after that the average was in the low 60s and she didnt curve. I thought i was going to do well and ended up not doing so well. Class isnt mandatory bc of course capture.
Her teaching method is okay. SHE HAS AN AWESOME ACCENT. She moves quick at times but usually tells you to check course capture on your own time or meet her after lecture. Her 3 exams were very straight forward, if you study you'll pass! Her final exam was RIDICULOUS though. I got all A's on my exam but failed the final! still passed with a B+ , >.<

I had an awful professor before Olabisi, but I was really happy with her. She's really nice and a bit funny, and her powerpoints are really good. Just take good notes in class and read the textbook chapters and you'll be okay!
Dr. Olabisi is a very nice and caring professor who wants all of her students to do well. Her test are starting to get harder with tons of ambiguous questions. Lab final is easy if you study. Course final..impossible.
She really does want her students to do well, and is extremely available in office hours. She may not curve, but her exams have an open book section and she is really reasonable in giving points back for the exams. She is clear in her teaching and her tests are fair based on the notes, though look out for the T/F. I recommend her wholeheartedly.
very nice professor, don't be intimidated by her name - she's very easy to understand! sometimes the wording on the exams can be a bit confusing, but she's good about throwing out bad questions and giving back points. open book sections, even on final. i would recommend! not much work outside of class other than studying a night or two before exams
Such a great professor. I never skipped a class and got at least a B on every exam. Her exams are straight forward. Pay attention in class and do the work. Highly recommend! :)
She was an amazing professor. Always there if you need help, and she actually wants the students to do well. Make sure you go to class and pay attention. If you do, you're guaranteed at least a B.
Wouldn't have wanted to take any other bio professor. Professor Olabisi is probably the best Bisc207 professor there is. She is extremely clear and her tests are directly based off of the powerpoint slides. Go to class, study the power point slides, maybe look over the textbook to better understand the material and your guaranteed an A. TAKE HER
I got so lucky with having her. She's probably the best BISC207 professor at UD. Had 3 exams which were all straight forward from the powerpoints. Got B+ on all 3. Only tested on what's talked about in class & hardly used textbook. Two homework assignments which are easy and a final at the end. Just go to class and you'll do fine. TAKE HER
Best BISC207 teacher. All exams are 50 minutes with 15 minutes open note at the end and the final is 2 hours with half hour open note at end. Go to class and you'll do fine. You're only tested on what's talked about in class.
Olabisi is a caring woman who really does want the best for her students in & out of the classroom. It is a pretty tough class, but she tries her best to relate the material & make it understandable. You have to study to get a good grade. She's always available for assistance & is constantly reminding you of office hours. Love her. Take her.
Great class. Very interesting and easy. Take 207 with her!!
Very easy. I took AP Bio so I had a good background, but still wasn't bad. Her examples accurately cover the material directly from her powerpoint. She is a friendly woman, however her voice kind of got on my nerves first thing in the morning
I took 207 with her and received an easy B. I didn't even study that much. The first exam will challenge you if you have never had her but she's a great teacher. 208 is about the same. Labs can be challenging because of the post and prelabs. Devote some time to this and the lowest you'll get is a B
I took Olabisi for 207 and 208 and I loved her as a professor. She genuinely cares about her students and getting a good grade, just don't go crying to her if you didn't put in the effort. You'd be dumb not to go to class because she doesn't use UD capture. Her exams are moderate, just make sure you study. The questions aren't straight forward
Prof. Olabisi is so sweet and tries to keep the class engaged. very funny woman and an excellent teacher. adjusting to her accent and the way she words questions is hard but she doesn't make the course more difficult than it needs to be. take her if you can!
Such a sweet professor! If utilized, office hours are extremely helpful. Genuinely cares about students and likes what she is teaching! Not an easy A, but definitely a good prof for 207 and 208.
She does a very good job of making sure everyone understands the material being taught. Tests weren't easy but they were always fair and had no surprises. She genuinely cares about her students understanding the material and doing well in the class. Her in depth teaching did cause us to rush at the end of the year.
She is such a great professor. I recommend it to all of the people I know taking 207 next semester and am definitely going to take her for 208. She is always there to explain and clarify things for you. It's not an easy A and you will have to work for it but she will help you get the highest grade possible as long as you ask for it!
She's the best. Not an easy A by any means, but she really cares about her students and what she's teaching. Tests aren't necessarily easy, but definitely fair.
Dr. Olabisi is a very nice woman who is very knowledgeable about what she is teaching. Lab is 25% of your grade so make sure to do well in that. There were 4 multi. choice exams and the average on each of them was around a 60. I didn't think the class was very hard though. I would definitely suggest Olabisi.
I had her for BISC 207 and was part of the integrated section. She was an amazing professor who honestly loves to see people succeed. Her tests were extremely easy and she LOVES to get students involved in class by drawing on the walls or something. She will go out of her way to help a student, no matter what their grade is.
She was extremely nice but you couldn't always understand her with the accent. The average on each test was around a 68 but I never thought they were too difficult, the quizzes are what was difficult. You need to read the book too and you have to put time into the class, it is not an easy A or even a B.
One of the best professors. Bio is never easy, but she is so interesting in students' learning that I learned so much in her class. Would take her again in a heartbeat.
Bio 207 is going to be a lot more in depth than high school bio no matter which prof you have. From what I understand she's the best of the bio 207 profs. Three online quizzes and lowest was dropped. The exams are 50 multiple choice questions but you only have to study the powerpoints so that's nice. Nicest lady ever would take again.
Olabisi is a great teacher but her tests are what confuse you. The wording is never specific and you have to have MUCH deeper understanding of the class to do well on the tests. She is honestly such a sweet woman though and is very willing to help and work for your success.
English isn't her first language, she thinks when she is teaching things and making test questions that it makes sense in your head, but it wont make sense to the student. I got an A in bisc207 and am working harder then last semester and most likely won't be receiving the same grade. Is bad at explaining and makes u assume connections on tests
Professor Olabisi is a wonderful woman. Her tests are not that difficult if you put the work in, and the content is usually all from her powerpoint slides. Didn't use the textbook for either course. Office hours were helpful. I would take her for every bio course if I could.
She's an incredible professor that's worth taking. She's well-loved by everyone in her sections, myself included.
She's very nice and willing to help in office hours. Personally, I liked 207 better with cellular topics, but I definitely studied less in this class and that's why I got an A- and not the A I should have. She is very nice and exams are mostly based on lectures; very unlikely to see tiny details from the book. She's better than the other 208 profs.
So I signed up for this class with her because good feedbacks. Unlike other bio professors, she wont curve the exams. She's funny, but conceited. She changed exam format this yr which is tougher. She crams things the last class before the exam and never finishes her lectures on time. Be ready for self tutoring and to memorize the entire textbook.
Professor Olabisi is one of my favorite professors. She is really nice and is always available for extra help if you need. The book is helpful, but I didn't really use it. I would recommend making a study sheet for every test because it is really helpful.
At first I didn't like her but after a few weeks I realized I loved her. From what I've heard, shes definitely the best Bio207 professor for integrated. She gives great analogies that really help.
She made it very difficult to stay engaged during long lectures. Her slides have very little text and she just explains diagrams that are in the textbook, but her accent is tough to understand so it's impossible to take good notes. Her exams are never on what you would expect from them. She is unclear and unpredictable.
Olabisi's class is easy to pass as long as you read the textbook homework and take notes on the lectures. She is an extremely nice woman who will help you as much as possible so long as you seek the help. Most of her tests will be surrounded by textbook readings so you will know what to expect on her exams if you read.
She is a great person, but a little hard to understand sometimes. Her tests are worded to trick you so you better know your stuff. She cancels office hours a lot. lectures are straightforward, but lots of info. READ THE BOOK, that's where all her info comes from, but be very clear on what you actually need for the class before you open anything.
She was very interesting in her lectures and related them to real life
Nice woman, but never finishes her slides!! Tests are hard. I love biology but she made everything so unclear. Class was rushed and never got to where we were supposed to be. Would often skip slides and would skim over topics to save time but were still tested on those topics.
I went into this course really excited the first day seemed promising. However, the quizzes are only five questions and it is extremely easy to drop two letter grades (just by getting one question wrong) and the exams are wayyy too difficult and she had vocab matching that she did not really focus on or explain well in class. Hate this so far
Olabisi seems like a nice lady, but this was her first genetics class at UD and she's unorganized as hell. Tells you not to worry too much about some things, but then decides to throw them onto the exam or a quiz. HW is easy as hell, but she assigns pretty often. Either connect or on sakai assignments. Topic is interesting, exams are discouraging..
Professor Olabisi is a wonderful lady who really cares about her students. Her lectures are extremely boring but I believe that it can be most attributed to content of the class rather than her as a teacher. If you have a decent background in Bio than her class shouldn't be difficult. 2 exams plus a final. Clicker questions every day in class.
She basically teaches like its a review session, doesnt go into depth with any topics, leaving you clueless on the ALL application question exams. Rarely tells you about homework. Barely assigns any work so if you trash one grade your whole grade drops. Labs are ok if u actually have a good lab group, which I didn't and I ended up doing everything.
Professor olabisi has the worst lectures of any professor I have had. She is unclear and extremely disorganized. She also makes her tests extremely hard with 3 to 4 correct options but she only takes one answer. If you are a science major that is interested in the science of biology I would take another professor. I did not benefit at all.
She moves too quickly through lectures and expects students to already have extensive knowledge about bio, sort've feels like she forgets that it's an INTRO LEVEL CLASS. Test and online homework questions are poorly worded and definitely trick you, whether intentional or not. You're gonna have to read the textbook for this course.
Professor Olabisi is a rude woman who thinks you know everything about biology in an INTRO LEVEL CLASS. She makes you feel bad if you don't understand her and acts like you aren't worth her time. Grazes over material that is crucial for the quizzes and homework. Disorganized and overall bad attitude. DO NOT TAKE.
Makes you feel dumb if you don't know about subject. Expects you to know a lot for an entry level class.
Prof. Olabisi makes it difficult to do well in a tough course. It is intended to be an intro course, but she treats lecture as a review session. Exams are powerpoint heavy but a majority of the powerpoints are random diagrams and questions. She drops an exam grade but also does not allow you to ask questions during exams. Do not take if possible.
While Dr. Olabisi is really nice, her lectures are really disorganized and don't prepare you well for the tests she gives. Plays really random youtube videos during lecture to try and make class engaging, but it's only really distracting. I only went to class to get clicker participation points.
Honestly, I learned almost nothing from her
Very nice lady. Literally if you do the online homework every week and quizzes, you will do fine on the test. 3 exams plus a final. Final is mandatory but she does drop the lowest test. Tests are all multiple choice and maybe 10 questions on matching. Studying for exams will be really easy if you review powerpoints and online homework daily.
Olabisi cares about your grade. If she notices a drop, she will try to help you the best she can. She doesn't do a lot of interactive things but she does try by doing "think, pair, share" and clicker questions. Paying attention will also help in the class and study the content. It will be a live saver.
Honestly such a sweet lady! Get to know her and you will definitely be successful in her class! She is honestly the best!
Olabisi was not actually that bad.. If you have a basic background in biology, this turns out to be a pretty easy class. She is also extremely caring and tries to keep the class interesting. Exams are definitely hard tho, study for them.
She is a very nice and great teacher. She goes through lectures slowly and constantly repeats key points. Her tests are somewhat challenging but they are doable if you put in the time. She was very helpful during her office hours and gives online homework which helps your grade.
She reads from her slides in class and adds extra information so pay attention to what she's saying. However, she moves so fast you can barely copy the notes or understand what she's saying. Her tests are very difficult and often cover material that was never discussed in class. Work hard on the assigned homework and quizzes to boost grade.
Olabisi moves very fast during lecture and just read off the slides, which made it really hard for me to learn. Her class isn't impossible to do well in if you really know your stuff. Exams are hard but doable. Do all the hw & quizzes (use quizlet for the answers), these will help your grade. She does clickers every class so try to attend.
She is a very nice lady and overall was a great professor, the lectures (which you should attend for clicker points) were sometimes long and she over explains somethings but going to office hours helps. The hw's and quizzes online are easy to help your grade. The exams were harder but the lowest one is dropped which is awesome.
Prof O. is a really great professor. Best bio prof I've had so far. She is very thorough, and posts UD Captures online. She gives 3 exams and a final. The exams are similar to the slides, so make sure you understand them. She tries to make the information relevant by applying it to how it relates to us. Final brought my A down to a B+.
Her lectures are boring, her notes in class seem very easy and basic tells you not to really go into too much depth in the text book because she is only going to go over the basics of most topics. Her test are nearly impossible, she over complicates the material and makes the test VERY hard , no study guides given
For a STEM class, this was pretty easy. Exams reminded me of high school tests. Material is fast paced. Classes felt long, but she tries to keep us involved and entertained. CLICKERS! Lab was so so so much easier than CHEM103. Goes above and beyond to check in with students. Lenient when I had to miss 1 exam for my sister's college grad. Love her!
Dr. Olabisi is one of the best and most understanding professors!! I was once sick and she let me take the exam a few days later when i was ready. her lectures can be boring but she is really a nice/funny person and wants you to do well. she give back questions on exams that are unfair and gives 15 min open notes, super easy hw and online quizzes
She wasn't a bad professor but I never paid attention in class, I went and would pull up the powerpoint on my computer and type as she went, I got more done that way. There is an occasional clicker quiz and easy online homework. Her tests are super easy and there are 15 minutes where you can use your notes on the test.
she is the WORST. do not take her. she is condescending and rude and unwilling to help students actually learn. I loved biology before her class and she made me hate it. Her lectures are fine its just her attitude towards her students which is unbearable. Do not bother going to her office hours shell just insult you. open note last 15 min of test.
Exams, emails, and slides were never proof read which kinda sucked, but as long as you take notes or read the textbook, you can get a good grade in the class. You can still get a good grade without really going to classes if you read the textbook which has short chapters, but clicker points factor in to overall grade.
Prof. Olabisi is a very nice woman. She recognizes when you make an effort to participate in class and does a lot to ensure you do well (e.g. lowest quiz dropped, lowest exam dropped).
Professor Olabisi is not a good professor. She is rude and does not care about her students. She will go over the notes so fast that no one can write them down. Practice questions will have no answer key so you will not be able to check your work. It seems like she is a nice lady but I do not recommend taking this course with her.
Prof. Olabisi is easily the worst professor I've ever had. First off, you can barely understand what she says because her accent is so think and her voice is so monotone that you end up falling asleep. She goes through her lectures insanely fast so there's no time to copy notes. Lastly, she doesn't give answers to practice tests. Wouldn't recommend
Honestly, I thought Dr. Olabisi was a good professor. She does her best to be accessible outside of class. Her office hours helped a lot and she really tries to help you grasp the material. She's sweet too. Her lectures can drag and you may have to use the textbook for reference, but just show up to office hours, attend class, and you're good.
I am taking BISC104 as a breadth course as a NON-BIO MAJOR. Not only rude, but she also is passive-aggressive, not understanding, and gives hours of homework per week. The class is asynchronous yet she requires zoom attendance and gives a discussion on top of two 40 min lectures and 4 assignments per week. I would not recommend her. At all.
I think the homework she gives is helpful for understanding the content, and she gives tips for how to study well for tests. A lot of people in my class thinks she gives too much homework, but I think it's a reasonable amount for a college class.
The worst. Do not take her class. SOOOO rude and does not care about any student.
Average professor. Lectures are boring and tests are worded weirdly. She sometimes comes off as unapproachable but if she makes a mistake just fight her on it anyway even if it makes her annoyed.
Very rude professor. Didnt round up my grade even though i was 0.04% off from an A-. Ive emailed her so many times to change a grade that she made a mistake on and would try to fight it. She is very condescending and rude, be careful how you word ur emails bc she will call you rude. She should watch hers!
She really should not be teaching an intro bio class. When you asked questions, she didn't seem to understand why you were asking them and why you were confused. She was very rude in most of her emails and basically just read straight from her PowerPoint so don't even waste time watching the lectures, just take notes off the PowerPoints.
She really does try to give you all the tools you need to be successful. She changed our work load because people complained it was too much, but it was fine before. She gives you so much homework because that's how you learn the material. I would not have passed this class if there wasn't so much work every week that required me to actually learn.
Dr Olabisi wasn't the best. Her lectures were boring and confusing. In addition, her exams were strange--she worded the questions in the weirdest ways. On the first 2 exams, we got her to give us points back on a few questions, but she didn't let us see the final exam so our grades didn't change. I was super close to an A but she didn't round me up
Pretty basic intro bio class. About two 40+ min lectures, textbook readings w/ questions, and a 10 question quiz each week. Never really had to read the textbook bc it was the same info as lectures. The work took up a lot of time but expected as a college course. 2 midterms and 1 final, not cumulative. Professor was passive aggressive.
Dr. Olabisi is a nice person and very accessible outside of class. It's obvious she wants her students to succeed and understand the content. However, her lectures were asynchronous for this class and sometimes a little hard to understand (use the textbook and Kahn Academy). Test questions were tricky too.
Setting things straight Sort of a lot of information but also its a bio class. Two she was nothing but very sincere and helpful. I was dealing with personal medical issues and she was very forthcoming and genuine in accommodating me. I had an A before taking medical leave, just do the work and take notes. planning on taking this class w/her again
Not only did I understand the material better but she had lectures for us to watch and homework and quiz assignments so we could practice and get an understanding. She provide practice worksheets and breakout room questions to go over and polls during the zoom calls. Definitely was interactive and wanted us to really understand the material
Fine teacher. Multiple times she has been rude to students when responding to emails. She makes absurd efforts to curb cheating that are unnecessary. She also gives the hardest multiple choice exams I have ever taken. I am a Mechanical Engineer and got a worse grade in this class than any upper-level engineering classes I had taken in the past.
I think that she had really good motivations and really wanted students to succeed, but she can get frustrated with students really easily and was sometimes rude in emails. She also needs to better proofread tests, on multiple occasions she gave students back for questions on the tests because of how misleading they were. Lots of spelling errors.
Rude and just an overall bad professor. Rarely responds to emails and when she does it does not answer the question. Exams were very difficult and she did not give any material to review. Do not take if you can!!
Of all the BISC207 Professors it seems like Prof. Olabisi is middle of the road. Lectures are long and boring at times (she often gives hours of supplemental lectures to watch too), and exam questions are often worded weirdly or confusing. For what it was the class was fine but doing bad on one lecture exam or one lab exam can really screw you over
Tests are all multiple choice and are super tricky. The average test grade was always in the 60s. She also gives reviews and worksheets to help study but never the answers to them so it's kinda pointless.
Always tried to take students input about due dates and test dates into account. Lectures were more surface level than the homework, but covered all tested material. Curved tests pretty generously. Grade mainly depended on 3 tests and weekly quizzes.
Doesnt respond to any emails and when she does shes rude. Moves very fast through all content and grade is made up of 3 test. Do not take it if you dont have to.
I took her intro to bio for non majors course and did not enjoy it. The labs were poorly set up and rarely made sense in reference to what we were learning during lectures. While this is a class strictly for non biology majors, she is strict on exams being proctored and closed book. The class isn't too hard, but it is tedious. Go to office hours.
This class is so hard if you are not a biology major. The grade is mostly made up of just 3 exams which are all so hard and proctored. Notes are usually not helpful even though that is what we are told to study. There are many hws each week which barley affect your grade and are so time consuming. Emails are rude and unprofessional. Avoid her class
Only reads off of powerpoint slides. Exams are so difficult and your grade is weighted pretty much on only exams. Lockdown browser mandatory. Homework's are given every week but they really do not affect your grade as much. Worst class to be online. Took with lab as well, lab was much easier.
Shes a nice person and asks us when we wanted to take the lock down browser tests (taken outside of class). Her tests are a little harder and more than what was covered in the lecture. Theres assignments that take an hour each week and you teach yourself the stuff in the assignments. If I didnt have prior bio knowledge I would be lost
Exams were difficult but if you study the material in advance and pay attention in class, you will do well.
Nice, but not a great professor. Be ready to teach yourself using the online book.
Prof Olabisi is a great professor but does tend to ramble a lot. If you pay attention to the lecture slides and only take notes on the important information given, then you will do great in this class. The test questions are very straight forward and the homework is very beneficial, so do the work nd you will be fine.
Olabisi does a good job teaching biology for non-majors. I felt like everything was easy to understand if you went to or listened to the lecture recordings and took your time doing the homework.
After reading the reviews about professor Olabisi on this website, I was really scared to start the course. Two lectures in, she became my favorite professor. She has a talent of explaining complicated topics in a very simple way, her exams are fair and if you study and pay attention in class you will pass them easily with a good grade.
Her slides are made way harder than the actual tests and the materials a lot so get ready
Nice Professor with a lot of knowledge, but the exams were impossible and gpa tanker. The exams are nothing like what the presentations showed. Be ready to teach yourself.
After taking the course, I can say the reviews are clearly from people who didn't bother to come to class or put in any effort. The class is lecture-heavy, but she is clear about what will be on the exams. Do the review sheets she provides, ask questions, and GO TO CLASS (for participation). In my opinion that class was an easy A. Do the work.
Professor Olabisi is truly one of the worst professors I have ever had at my time at UD. I came in thinking that she was a decent professor, only to find out that she solely reads off the PowerPoints she makes (which are very disorganized) and can't teach to save her life. Her grammar on tests and emails is horrible. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!
I was so excited to take this class, and I'm so disappointed with how this experience turned out. Professor Olabisi's lectures are almost impossible to follow, and she totally misguides you as to what will be on the exam. I feel like there's almost no way to do will in this class, even if you go though all of the study material available. Awful.
The lectures are just her paraphrasing what's on the PowerPoint slides. 67.5% of the final grade is determined by 3 exam grades (including the final). There are online clicker quizzes through PollEv that count for attendance.
Her tests were actually challenging but very interesting. Definitely going to have to study for a few days in advance. But she was very helpful and a great teacher def recommend.
gave a lot of connect homework and smartbooks readings which can take a long time. the quizzes are timed but found every answer on a quizlet. the exams were online but on zoom. take that as you will but you can't split screen or click out of the exam bc she sees it. she gave back about 5 questions from all the exams which helped a lot
She is not the best teacher and if you have no prior knowledge I would be very lost in her class. There were two tests and a final, taken online in my dorm. She knows biology well and is passionate, but does not know how to explain things, and goes into very little detail.
Olabisi reads off the slides during class time so it was easy for me to complete outside of class if I did not attend. Homeworks were online and not too hard. We had 5 quizzes and 3 tests, one being the final. Grade is based off mostly the test grades so study a lot for those. She allows a note sheet for 15 mins of the test.
goes through lots of slides. very frustrating to review material outside of class she went over so much during class time and it would mush together. go to class or fail! be ready to take time to review out of class. online tests w/ zoom. easy online assignments. passionate about biology but I feel like she thought we were experts as well.
Not a super exciting class, but the lectures are clearly organized making it pretty easy to get a decent grade.
Professor Olabisi's class is not hard to pass if you put in the work that she asks of you! Her lectures are a bit confusing at times, however she does go into depth on each slide to help you understand. The tests are directly based off the learning objectives and you get one sheet of paper as a cheat sheet! Also, most of our tests were online.
so bad do not take her
This class was a GPA booster! Olabisi provides so much help, like worksheets and practice exams, and all the homework answers can be found online. Definitely a freshman type course, shouldn't be too much trouble if you have prior experience with bio. The lab isn't that bad either, though it does have a lot of busy work.
I struggled with this professor at the beginning of the class, but once you get used to her teaching style, it is not a difficult class. Do your homework and study for the exams and you will do fine.
shes super nice just kind of hard to understand sometimes. the class is super easy and i stopped watching the lectures halfway through the semester. we had 3 exams and the "final" wasnt cumulative which is nice, and if theres questions on the exams that a lot of people got wrong she goes in and removes them to change the average.
She's all over the place and teaches like you're supposed to know everything already. She goes too fast in her lectures and I'm learning basically nothing
Good professor, but goes through lecture material very fast. Study days in advance for tests because they are very heavy on material, mostly from slideshows.
Olabisi is a nice lady but the class was not structured well. Grades are test heavy and exam questions are worded poorly and much harder than any practice material given. She is good about responding to emails but does not offer much support to students that need it. Exams are allowed 15 min with notes. No curve.
If you study based off of the slides and pay attention in lecture, you will do well. Exam questions are worded weird, but all of the info comes right from the slides. She also gives 15 mins with a note sheet on her exams.
The lectures are intimidating but all you have to focus on are the slideshow and the worksheets. The tests don't go into insane detail since it is an introductory course. Do the worksheets and you will pass the tests. Class average on exams is about an 85. The lab may be difficult if you haven't taken chem before. The answers are in the lab book.
She is nice but her slides are horrendous and disorganized. She goes quick but you don't have to go to class. She does class polls intended to check knowledge but they don't help learning. Her exams are online on zoom but they are worded poorly. She occasionally gives points back but don't count on it. If your lab TA isn't good, your screwed.
I found the lectures difficult to follow and the test questions were worded weirdly. It wasn't that big of deal though because she curves the tests. She provides you with everything to pass but don't count on learning a whole lot from the lectures.
Dr. Olabisi is definitely one of the better Bio professors. I would take a class with her again without hesitation. She is passionate about the subject and I learned a lot. She is a fair grader and very responsive and approachable. She makes the subject and the volume of material less daunting. Dont think twice about taking her class.
She was so sweet but even with going to every class, lectures did not help at all. The exams did not reflect what we learned in class. The final was so packed with questions with so little time to finish that it was nearly impossible to get a good grade. So disappointed that preparation for exams could not be reflected.
She was very knowledgeable and you can definitely tell she loves biology!! Attendance is not mandatory, but attending lecture will definitely help your understanding of the material and will make it easier to get a good grade on the exams. There is an online textbook which is where you complete homework and quizzes. She is a good professor!
So hard to follow when going through slides and the slides were disorganized and had too much content on them all at once. Exams were online but I thought that they were extremely hard. Lab counts towards overall grade so if you get a bad TA like I did, then expect your grade to drop at the end.
I can't understand a word she said and its not just me.
The lectures can be disorganized, but staying engaged and using unstuck study for exam prep makes this manageable. Attendance is crucial, and the lab section can make or break your grade.
Her lectures are disorganized and she's a bit hard to follow. She also typos on both practice and exam problems so you have to think way harder. She usually will correct for these if you email her which questions. While she doesn't take attendance, definitely go because she gives extra consideration at the end of the term to those who participate.
The exams including the final were all MCQ and at least 60 questions each. For every exam we were able to have one sheet of notes (cheat sheet). Her lectures were filled with a lot of info but her test was based on everything in the power points so there was no need to read any textbooks although they did help with understanding material better.
Professor Olabisi has 3 major exams and allows a cheat sheet for each. However, even after filling the cheat sheet with as much as possible, there was a lot on the exams that didn't really get taught throughout the course. Was a hard class, I recommend taking a different professor.
If I have one piece of advice to give, it's to not take any courses with Prof. Olabisi. Her lectures are so unorganized and extremely confusing. She overcomplicates the most simple topics, it's not worth listening to her lectures when everyone has to re-teach the topics to themselves. Class average for exams is always low which should say something
She is a super hard professor. If you are taking Bisc207, pick another professor.
Professor Olabisi is super funny. She makes lectures engaging, however, her lectures are super heavy and loaded. She goes kind of fast and always uses the full time of lecture.
Don't take. Legit for ur sanity pick another prof. If ur not already good at bio you'll be cooked in this class. But if you have to take her expect the class average for exam to be between 60-63 :)
Contrary to what everyone else has been saying, I didn't think this course was that bad. I haven't taken bio since my freshman year of high school, and I wasn't great at it, however, this course helped me understand bio much more than I ever have. If you complete the worksheets she posts and have a study plan, you will do fine.
Contrary to popular belief I genuinely enjoyed this class. Lectures are long and hard to get through but she gives you every resource you need to succeed. DO THE WORKSHEETS!!! I know they aren't mandatory and might see stupid but they will help so much when it's time to study for the exam. If u do them and go over it you will do fine.
If you genuinely want to understand and are willing to pay attention/take notes during lectures, she is the professor for you. I have never had a teacher make stuff click in my brain more than her. she uses great analogies. many are turned off because her classes are lecture heavy and she talks long, but if you just stay attentive, you will succeed
Extremely rude and unprofessional.
The material she provides us on her slides and lectures and even practice exams/study outline do not prepare you for the actual exams.
She's very nice and seems knowledgeable, however the tests were horrible and I felt like nothing from her slides was on the exam itself. OR, if it was, it somehow was completely different than what she taught or had on her slides. Definitely retaking this course next semester with a different professor. Get 100s on the hw and maybe that'll help!
Both exam averages for the class were 55% and nothing was done about it. The practice exam and classes do not even prepare you for the exams. You can only get a cheat sheet for the last 15 minutes of the exam. I might not (along with other classmates) pass this class if the final is like the other exams. I really hope she is lenient after the final
Dr. Olabisi is very unorganized in the lectures, but is an okay teacher. I took AP Bio in high school and couldn't understand this class bc it was so unorganized. She let us have a cheat sheet for exams, but only let us use it for the last 15 minutes of the exam and the last 10 minutes of the final!! So useless!! Would not recommend at all.
The professor is unprofessional, lecture-heavy, and dull. Exams count for 75% of the grade, but the material is unhelpful. She gets easily distracted and misspells words in emails. Though knowledgeable, she's not suited for teaching and makes no effort to address poor grades. If there's one thing to take from RMP, avoid her.
Lectures feel like they last forever and tests are designed to be hard. She has loads of typos on everything and the questions are often unclear, but she refuses to clarify anything. Will give vague study guides but no answer key to them. People filled them out wrong and she was surprised they were doing bad on exams 😐
This professor gives study guides that do not align with the test material. Her slides are awful and unorganized, attendance for lectures is mandatory yet she never makes any sense and is all over the place. She allows a "cheat sheet" yet you are only allowed to use it for 10 minutes max on the exams, so basically theres no point.
Take a different prof. Exams BARELY reflect slides/study guides. Exams have many typos, are hard to comprehend, & have repeated questions. Why is Exam 1 worth 20%, but the second 25%? They're both normal exams. She wonders why exam averages are low and blames the students but fails to consider that maybe it's due to her bad teaching.
She is really passionate about biology, but is not the best at giving out the information. I would 100% not take her again, the class average is really bad because of the heavy and high % exams. no one ever pays attentions in her lectures because of how hard and complicated the class is.
Do not take. Slides are very content heavy and unorganized. The tests were much harder than the practice exams and so many typos and wrong answers. Content is not very hard but she makes the tests impossible.
Lectures were hard to comprehend felt like she was reading off the slides and even when approached after class to seek questions it felt like she wasent explaining and still reading off the slides. However, the exams are straight forward, but did have alot of typos of and miscommunication.
