One of the best teachers in UIC finance department.
This teacher is excellent. She is VERY clear, and makes sure that those who come to class understand what is going on. She tells you what you need to know for her exams, and offers extra credit. She is nice during office hours, and eager to help you understand finance. She is an excellent teacher if you are a finance major or not.
she rocks.
A wonderful teacher. She uses text book examples so it's very helpful before exams for reveiw.
Loves her subject and she's very knowledgeable about the financial world. She has taught internationally and knows her students very well. Her exams are short but you must know your material very well because one problem wrong can get you a C and 2 wrong can make you fail the exam. Strongly recommend taking her classes.
Excellent teacher and is very helpful.
Probably the best professor I've had. Explains material thoroughly. Exams are easy as long as you go to class and review notes.
She is the best teacher in finance dep't. she will explain in detail the material. i like the way she is trying to make sure everyone understands each point.
Go to her lectures and write down what she writes on the board. She explains things very well and all her tests and projects are very easy.
She is a very bright and a caring professor. She knows how to connect with the class. She is always in a good mood and good looking. Highly recommended!
RIGHT, I AM WRITING NOW! I had no interest in Finance at all until I took her class, and now I'm minoring in Finance. Really nice lady, she really knows what she is talking about. Plus it doesn't hurt that she has a really sexy British accent. Her exams can be complicated, but she has really easy group projects. RIGHT, WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO REPEAT?
She is the best professor at UIC. Very nice and helpful. Makes the class interesting and actually made me become passionate about finance!
Professor is awesome. She is also really smart. My interest grew after taking 3 courses with her. Highly recommend taking her
She is a very kind professor, but we only went over 6 chapters. I felt like I should had learned more than does chapters.
She's so smart, learnt a lot from her.
super hot, good teacher too
Great prof, instead of just reading equations from the book she helps explain how they are derived and how to use them in real situations.
Had her for three semesters arguably one of the best professors in the CBA.
Best professor ever!
She explains very well, Tests are okay, quizzes are easy,Best Finance professor period
Never went to class. I got a 88%... 3 midterms/2 easy group projects. Best Finance Professor of all time, that is all.
Easy going teacher. Must attend class to get notes. As long as you pay attention and understand what is being lectured you will do good. Also, her accent is super hot. RIGGHTTTT
Just attend class and take notes. She is an excellent EXCELLENT PROFESSOR! Explains everything in great detail and ease!
This is a hard class but she is great in explaining the math stuff.
You don't need to attend class, lectures are all book based. She doesn't follow the syllabus she posts usually (had her for two different Finance classes), and she usually reduces the amount of material required to learn before every posted quiz and test. You don't need to attend class and there is usually a final project instead of a final exam.
One of the best professors at CBA. She is very clear and explain everything very well. I would recommend her. You learn a lot from her, but she does not make it hard to learn. 2 Exams 2 quizzes, as well as 2 projects. She is very good at grading projects, and exams/ quizzes are not tricky at all.
She explains everything extremely well. Best professor ever in CBA. Take whatever she teaches.
LOVED HER CLASS. She explains everything so well, and if you go to class and take notes the tests are very easy. Probably one of the best teachers I've had. TAKE HER.
She is without a doubt one of the best professors in the College of Business and in the Finance Department. Her explanation are clear and her exams are pretty easy. Her notes are easy to follow. However, she is not so keen on doing make-ups for students, so have a good excuse and documentation if it happens.
She is great. Has a patient of a saint - she makes sure everybody understands the material, sometimes explaining it more than two times. Follows the book closely, if you attend all of the lectures no need for the book and you'll do well in class and tests. Make sure to spot out responsible students right from the start - you'll have group projects.
She's not that nice, but her class is easy. Her exams are based on her lectures and examples she gives in class. Exact same number sometimes. She has to write down her lectures, otherwise you won't understand her. Overall, she's good. Easy A. 2 quizzes, 2 exams, group projects.
The exams are easy, they are based off of examples she does in class. Take good notes and you will have an easy time.
She's not that helpful. I was pretty much refused help multiple times and told to ask my classmates or the TA. She teaches a lot of classes so has limited availability. Her tests are multiple choice and based off her notes, but the $250+ textbook is "required".
She is very smart and conveys the material very clearly. Take her classes if you really want to learn something.
She's a great teacher- very clear and to the point when explaining new concepts. Take notes during class and you will ace the quizzes and exams.
The best teacher at UIC!! I took her for FIN 301,302,340 and 494. Her syllabus is the same 2 quizes 2 tests and 2 projects with groups. She is very smart and you just want to attend her class! Please do take her and you will learn!
Clear grading criteria. 2 quizzes, 2 exams, 2 group projects. Her lectures are long and sometimes boring. As long as you put in effort, you will get a good grade.
She's an amazing professor and one of my best so far. Her class is interesting but if you skip class, it would be kind of hard to pass so make sure to get notes from friends. Just study notes and the problems you do in class and you will be good.
She's nice... but not helpful. She will give you vague answers and not go over real life examples for class projects. Disorganized notes and lots of extra information that won't be tested for. Easy grader. Blazes through material and gives no homework so be prepared to make your own practice exercises to learn materials. I took Summer Term though.
Took her summer course. As long as you show up to class, pay attention, and take notes you'll pass. She's not out to fail anyone, but don't take thing's for granted. Because it was only a 4 week course, we flew through the material which wasn't all that hard. Not everything will be on tests/quizzes.
Best professor at UIC. I took her during the summer session and really had the chance to learn from her. She is to the point and facilities note taking. As long as you pay attention, take notes, and redo problems, then you should be fine. Take her if you can! For such a hard class she makes it fun and enjoyable.
This was my fave course at CBA. She communicates the material very effectively. She is very knowledgeable in the field. Stick to her notes and you will do very well. Bloomberg assignment was great!
She knows her stuff well. There were only 2 exams, 2 quizzes, and 2 group projects. No final! The quizzes were somewhat difficult but the exams were easy seeing that the questions came directly from the textbook. If you go to class, pay attention, and take notes, you'll do fine. Easy A!!
I got something interesting out of every class. She is really smart but she dumbs down the material really well.
She is a great professor. Pretty easy course load. Two exams, two quizzes, and two projects. Even though the class was pretty easy, I was sometimes confused during lectures because there are no power point notes, and she just talks about the material (instead of writing it). Overall, she is a nice and pretty easy going professor.
Great professor and class, made finance very interesting and gave good lectures. Grading was very fair, and those who studied and attended class did well. Group projects helped grades a lot. Let class out early often, but wasn't able to get through the last two chapters.
She is the best professor in UIC. Exams are slightly tough but she is overly generous while grading the assignments. She teaches with passion and professionalism. She will make you love finance.
Prof Ozgur was a great professor! She answered any questions that we had, graded very leniently, and super approachable! I would definitely take her class again. She is very knowledgeable about finance and provided real life examples.
Professor Ayaydin's lectures are clear and comprehensible. You do NOT need the book. If you listen attentively to all of her lectures and take good notes, there is absolutely no reason you won't get an A. Her tests are 100% based on lectures, so taking extensive notes is a must. Still, she makes the class interesting.
Professor Ayaydin was the best professor I've had in the four years I've been at UIC; she is really nice and extremely helpful. Her class is so EASY! The problems that she goes over in lecture are sometimes the same exact problems on the exams. There are 2 easy team projects; If you show up to class and take notes, you should get an A!
Arguably the easiest class I've taken so far. She give 2 tests and 2 quizzes, which are easy enough if you take notes and go over the textbook (optional). There's 2 group projects, one of which is the final. They're simple enough but tedious so don't wait until the last minute to start. She writes a lot of notes but they're detailed and clear.
Great lectures and she teaches a hard subject in a way that makes it easy for you to understand. Only 6 grades total; 2 exams, 2 quizzes, and 2 group projects. Projects are easy but take a while to complete don't save it for the last minute. Exams only have a few problems but are graded nicely.
Professor Ayadin has been my favorite professor at UIC. She manages to teach a hard subject in a very interesting way and communicates the material extremely effectively.
There are one group project and one presentation. There are 3 tests (MC plus problems). Quite easy stuff. You can get an old edition of the book but it's not required. No homework. Come to class, take all the notes that she writes and class will be an easy A.
Amazing class and a stellar teacher. Go run for this class because it fills up quick.
This course is composed of two quizzes, two exams, one news paper group presentation, and one big final assignment. The quizzes and exams will not be difficult as long as you pay attention in class and youll be fine studying the night or two nights before. Dont be scared of the group presentation, like I was, itll help your confidence!
I learned the most from this class thorought my time in UIC. The professor is an economist so that she makes a good connection between current economic events and the financial markets. Come to each class and take notes. You will end up with an A.
The best Professor I had in UIC so far. Take her for finance 301!
Professor Ozgur is the best professor I've ever had the pleasure of taking at uic. You're dumb if you don't take her. She made Finance a breeze.
Professor Ozgur is one of the best professors in UIC. She is very professional and is knowledgeable. She is the reason i am now minoring in finance!
Does not help prepare for exams. She just keeps saying "study the notes". Not the same style as FIN 301
Just study the notes and you will be fine. The professor is very enthusiastic to teach this class.
This class couldnt be taught better. Prof Ozgur is amazing! She makes the hard stuff to be understood so easily.
Ozgur mastered the craft of teaching. Took her during the four week summer session and she made me love finance although I thought hated numbers.
Best professor in the UIC!!! She is so charismatic and her accent is amazing! Her teaching style is the best. And every finance major should take this class. The recorded classes were very engaging.
Her online asynchronous are EXTREMELY slow and will put you to sleep. Otherwise she's a good professor but needs to make her videos engaging.
She's an amazing lecturer and makes clear lecture videos to watch. She really cares about her students and I finally understood a lot of concepts I did not understand before.
Amazing professor! She is really passionate about what she is teaching and does a phenomenal job of explaining all of the material. The content on her quizzes/tests reflected exactly what she taught in class. The professor was easy to access out of class and even offered to do individual skype calls in case you needed help with the material.
I love this class!
She's very enthusiastic so class is always enjoyable. Attendance is not mandatory but 5% extra credit. However, lectures are not posted online so you have to attend class to get the notes. Her quizzes and tests are exactly like her lectures, so if you understand the material, you'll get an A. Final exam is not cumulative.
Her asynchronous work contradicts her teaching values. Shes very keen on having in-person classes because she feels as if we learn better, but if that were the case she would make things synchronous when we have snow days. She does not upload any content to blackboard, so you better hope you don't get sick and miss a class.
Very kind and great at teaching. The material in class can be tough to understand, however, she makes it easily understandable if you attend her lectures, pay close attention, and definitely take notes. If you need FIN340 credit definitely try your best to have her as your professor!
She is very passionate for teaching. Write down the notes that she gives in class and take advange of extra credit if you want a good grade in class.
The class is interesting and applicable, but Professor Arslan-Ayaydin's teaching style is what takes the cake. Very engaging and encourages class participation. I have nothing but positive things to speak of!
Absolutely amazing professor. She gives multiple examples for questions that you'll need to know for the course. She covers everything that will be on the tests, and she makes sure that you will be well prepared. One of the best professor's out there, and I'd advise everyone that has her as a potential option to take her.
The best professor in UIC and I will take her class again.
Very descriptive lectures. All tests and quizzes are multiple choice. If you pay attention in class, they should be easy. There are 2 group assignments, which are not too hard. And if you fully complete those, you should have a great shot an A, if not a B. Great professor, and I have continued to take her for multiple courses.
The creme de la creme!
One of the best finance professors at UIC. She has a structure to her course and sticks to it and makes it so easy for the students to understand the subject. Please do not miss out on the opportunity to take this class. Attendance is extra credit (5% of the grade), 2 group assignments (40%) , 2 quizzes (20%), 2 exams (40%). Lot of extra credit.
The prof is cool and smart. You could learn a lot about financial markets from her. Attendence is counted as extra credit. Tests are only multiple choice. 1 group project. 1 class presentation. She has a policy of no late submissions for the project.
She is a great professor, and very knowledgeable in her field. The class is straightforward, 2 quizzes, and 2 exams which are all multiple-choice. There is also a presentation analysis and a final assignment that requires you to use the Bloomberg terminal which are both worth 40% of your grade. Don't wait until the last minute to do your Bloomberg.
A very classy, smart and elegant professor! Also her lectures were very clear. Actually if this course was thought by another teacher it would ve been really tough. TAKE HER!!!
The professor is an amazing teacher, interesting, and super nice. However, her teaching material is outdated, her teaching method is copying her 12 year old notes onto another piece of paper. 2 quizzes, 2 exams and her reviews are not helpful at all. She rudely interrupts during presentations and her final assignment is confusing. Her TA useless.
She's an amazing professor; it was very easy to follow along with her lectures and everything she would tell us would be seen on tests and quizzes.
One of the best professors in UIC! She is very smart and interesting. She made the content easy to be understood. I enjoyed attending all the lectures.
Professor Ayaydin is the best. I saw her freshman year in my BA 101 class and from that moment I knew that she is an amazing professor. Her lectures are easy to understand, quizzes/ exams are reasonable, presentation is manageable and the final assignment is challenging however she is always more than happy to help. Truly elegant and knowledgeable
Very tough class, little assignments only the 2 tests and 2 quizzes and 2 presentations. which are quite difficult. Lots of equations and note taking. Theres no study guide, only 28 lecture videos which are 40 minutes long (7 per exam/quiz). Exams and quizzes are the same, 25 multiple choice and 2-3 bonus questions. But overall super hard class :(
This course is more like a 400 level but you learn a lot. Professor is a fountain of knowledge and very classy. Exams are hard but extra credit helps.
This was the most useful course I took at my major. The material is tough with math equations and graphs but the professor teaches it in a very clear way.
She is great! The course is very group project-heavy, but as long as you understand the material and study, you will be fine with the multiple-choice exams. No PowerPoints, instead the notes are written out in class and you are expected to follow along (better imo). I learned a lot, and the class was very practical. I would recommend!
She got her teaching award for a reason! Very caring and knows very well what she's doing. Attendance is not required (summer class), but showing up and listening helps you learn a lot. Extra credits are extra questions in every single quiz/exam. 1 paper, 1 presentation (both group project). I would take this class again if I could!
Great teacher! I'm not one to write reviews, but I liked her so much I decided to write one. She explains concepts very clearly and even her posted lectures are great! Not only is she a great educator, she's super nice and approachable. Have a question? she'll be happy to answer!
I agree with all the reviews - she has teaching awards for a reason!. She is very nice, caring and smart. All exams were off the lectures and the recordings she provided. Lectures were very engaging and teaches you useful stuff. TAKE HER!!!
