Ms. Whichard is helpful during her office hours only. She is a very moody person. One minute she is happy and the next minute she is pissed off slamming books down saying class dismissed. She has her favorites in class which gets very annoying.
She is the worst teacher ever! She refused to explain things and graded very harshly! Made the class a lot harder than it actually was!
I loved her. There is no way to not make a good grade in this class if you dont want to. All of the papers can be revised for a higher grade if you didnt do well. I thought she was incredibly helpful and understanding.
I have never hated English class so much as I do now.
avoid this teacher at all cost. she is extremely moody and does have her favorites. she also talks about the same **** every class. no one cares about your kid!!!
AVOID THIS TEACHER AT ALL COSTS! She has no patience and she will not help you. She insists on how you will benefit from the course, but never helps you improve. She has class favorites, and if you aren't a favorite, count on receiving Ds and Fs.
she's one of the worst teachers I've had for english, and i love english classes.
I don't like English but this teacher makes it extremely diffcult. When she grades papers, she is very critical and every time the two or more people are out of the class, everyoe gets a quiz but it cna help your grade.
Mrs. Whichard is yes, very moody.She is very helpful, especially when you visit her in her office.I think the reason people dont like her is b/c in this class you actually have to WORK.....but in the end you have learned a lot more and can only help you.
I have never had a teacher be more rude and insulting. She threatened to fail everyone all the time. She shook her finger in my face like I was 10 years old. Do NOT take this teacher!!!!
Expects a lot from her students, but knows what she's talking about. Amount of work can be demanding, but she is very willing to help students outside of class. Take the time to help yourself and you'll get a lot out of her class.
um yea if u want ur life to feel like its worth nothing take her...i got d's and f's on every paper but ended up doing ok in the class, which i dont know how that happened, i learned that everything i was doing was wrong!!
This lady has a mental problem. She will fail you on everythin, but at the end still give you an 'A'. So the entire semester you're stressing over her class for no reason.
A GREAT M-W-F teacher. Very helpful to anyone with disabilities. It is better to get to know her early in semester. Enjoys students coming to her office to chat or answer questions. Not a problem class or teacher for students who are great writers.

she is not easy, not a fun 8am MWF class to take, attendence is must, can't be late either, i got a B in the class, she wont let you fail as long as u show that u are trying, like by going to her office, email, ect.

You'll actually learn something in her class. It is kinda hard, but its not too bad. She's not that evil either...she actually cares a lot about her students and if you ever have a problem she'll talk to you about it.
Mrs.Whichard is not easy. You have to work for everything, but she teaches you how to be disciplined. Go see her in her office and she will help you, and get the pink slips

Professor Whichard expects you to work. Anyone can make an easy A in her class, because she allows you to revise your first 3 papers for a better grade at the end of the semester! She is very helpful outside of the classroom! Attendence is a must! Take her! She's pretty cool!!

Go to Class.. she is strict on that but she is only trying to help you, so go. Be nice to her and stay on her good side if you don't you will regret it!

This Lady is CRAAAZY. DON'T TAKE HER. She is nice to your face in her office, but mean infront of the class. She will make you leave if you are unprepared. Go to every class or you will lose a whole letter grade for missing 3 classes which is rediculous.
She is tough but she really gets involved and improves your writing. Don't take this class if you have an attendance problem.

A very mean woman who is far too demanding. Has mental issues and cannot deal with stress at all. Forces uneccessary work on students and then complains about grading it. Tries to put students in uncomfortable situations. Avoid her. She is a very mean person who is only interested in herself. AVOID.
If you like writing, I recommend not taking this teacher! From personal experience, I used to love writing until I took this teacher. She is very demanding and not very helpful, even though she acts like it. She gets these good teacher awards, but does not deserve them. DO NOT TAKE HER!
Professor Whichard will make you work hard, if your looking for an easy A then you can take her. But you have to do all of the work and always show up for class.
If you like creative writing and exanding your ability to have fun when writing do not take this class. She is an expert at research writing which is her downfall when writing creatively. She is overly harsh on students and picks you out for odd reasons and tries to make you look foolish.

This professor should not even be called that, for she does not know the first thing about teaching. She doesn't care about her students, and keeps her threating promise of failing you LITERALLY. I hope that if you have her, you switch out or die trying to satify her.
She is a very demanding yet informative teacher. She breaks everything down and makes it easier to get in little pieces. Thought was terrible at first but then learned to deal with her.Failed every quiz but got A's on papers, A in class. Good teacher, and nice lady. Just a little stern.
She is very intimidating and you think you are going to fail but you wont. There are more than enough chances for letter grade pushes. Go to class everyday and be on time! Its really not that bad. She is very helpful. There are a lot of quizzes but she goes over the stuff a million times. Just do the work and follow directions and you'll get an A!
I would not advise anyone to take her class. However, she is extremely helpful when you are in need.But I warn you her class is very demanding,and she will tell you that herself.
At first she is intimidating but if you do what she asks, in the manner that shes asks, then you will do fine. Don't go over absences though, that will get you in trouble with her!!! Very helpful if you show interest and go to her office for help.
When I first took this class I just knew I was going to fail it big time. But as time went by I knew I could pull it off. Professor Whichard gives you chances to pull your grade up with letter grade pushes for perfect attendence and coming to class on time. Just follow directions and do what she asks and you will do perfectly fine.
Avoid this teacher at all costs. This class is by far the hardest class I've taken at ECU and I'm in the Honors Program. She likes to put people in uncomfortable positions and nark on everyones little mistakes making you feel stupid in front of the whole class. She is way to demanding. Stay clear of this fiend.
Do not take this teacher. Her soul is black and she will make yours the same. Half the class failed the first project and I have a 3.9 and am in the honors program and made a c-. Plus she grades on a 7 point scale. Take it with someone else.
I took her over the summer. At first I thought I was going to die! She's very hard! But if you come to class, ask questions, and do your work, you'll learn so much!
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! she is psycho and extremely controlling. If you don't even have one assignment with you, she will throw you out of class. I swear she is bipolar. Don't take her. I used to like english, til she came along!

I love her! This is the 3rd time I've taken her (by choice). She is VERY DEMANDING but if you have your $*!% together you can get at least a C or better...Do not forget to do ANY assignments because you will be penalized and if you do not like going to class take a different professor because attendance is MANDATORY!! trust me:)
I love her!! She's my fave professor at ECU! I've taken her 3 times now (by choice) and made an A in 1100, B in 1200 and should get an A in 3880. She's VERY DEMANDING but you can learn a lot! Do not take her if you enjoy skipping class because attendance in MANDATORY and be sure to do ALL work because you will get "beat up" if you dont!
Professor Whicard would have you believe she is Gods gift to english students however the woman is miserable she is overly critical of every1 but herself she has the worst 7pt grading system which kills your average for the class she is fair she hates every1 equally she'll say your writing will improve and all it does is make you hate english

Mrs. Whichard is a great professor to take English 1100 with, if you would like to learn how to write. She requires you to learn and also requires you to work. However, she is very caring and helpful. She will work with you as long as you need her to. And if you try in her class and listen to what she teaches your writing will improve!
Professor Whichard appears hard but is very helpful. She is strict with attendance, but if you do your work you should pass no problem. Her focus is on improving your writing ability. I highly recommend her for first year students in order to help your adjustment to college!
Go to class, Do your homework, Use the Writing Center, and you will get an A! Fight her and you will fail. Bottomline, if you're in college to learn you will like her class! Taking her again in 1200 by choice!

Loves teaching but is extremely hard on students.
She will noy miss an opportunity to "dismiss you with an absence". After 3 absences, your FINAL grade drops one letter grade for EACH absence. And you need a C in order to pass her class.
horrible teacher! She doesn't know how to deal with first semester students. In all seriousness I've never hated anyone as much as I hate her. She was extremely rude, was not helpful at all, and has an extreme Napoleon complex. After I had missed one class she had a series attitude problem towards me. She was the worst instructor I ever had!!!

The worst teacher I have ever had. If you don't bring your work to class she will tell you to leave and take an absence. Then she will spend the next 15 minutes yelling at the rest of the students(the ones who DID their work). She promised lots of helpful workshops, and never followed through with even one. AVOID AT ALL COST!

This professor is very demanding, but if you get your homework done and try your best with your papers and such, then she will help you and not be so bad. She is somewhat biased on how you work to what grade you deserve, but that can work to your advantage. I recommend her if you don't mind a challenge. I learned ALOT from her.
Good luck to those students who have her at any point... Something is due EVERY class, plus you have quizzes EVERY week, and grading... ISN'T easy... may god have mercy on you!... on a better note, i've learned a lot and I have now come to enjoy the taste of coffee from my many late nights at the library to finish her papers!
VERY demanding. She doesn't like to tell students when they've done well, only likes to see what she can get you on. Plays favorites. NOT very understanding. Acts like her class is the ONLY thing that matters. Gives hard assignments and grades even harder. Thinks she's right about EVERYTHING. I would not recommend taking this teacher at all.
I pulled off an A in the class but would not reccommend taking her if at all possible. Simply because the amount of work she demands will have u slacking in your other classes. She does not care about any other classes or your life outside of her class. Also, she will penalize someone for being even 1 min. late when she often showed up 5+ mins late

She's made me cry on several occations. She's falsly accused me of plagerizing, and didn't have the decency of calling me into her office beforehand. Don't take her iff you can help it. What you've gained from her class isn't worth you're sacrafice.
If you are 1 min late she will give you a tardy. 2 tardies equalls 1 absence which is a letter grade drop off your final score...Ouch!!! If you show improvement ang go you will pass. She is very technical and contradicts herself when grading. DONT TAKE HER CLASS UNLESS YOU WANT TO WORK YOUR ASS OFF!!!!
Yes, she has her rules, but she is a great teacher. She really helped me a lot, and I feel like I became a better writer because of her. Don't be late to class, do your assignments, follow the rules, and you'll do great in her class.

Attendance policy sucks! 2 tardies = 1 absence. 2 absences = mandatory meeting with her. After 3 absences, you get a letter grade off your final grade. I hate her! She hates everyone! This is a VERY demanding course. If you have a problem getting work done ON TIME or showing up to class, every time, on time, this is not the class for you. You will learn a lot from her if you do not mind working. I wouldn't take her again, but I did learn a lot and my writing has really improved. If you decide to take her, I wish you luck!
Professor Whichard knows her stuff. She does work your ass off. She keepsyou acountable for everything (homework, quizzes, and my God projects). Strict attendance policy and checks homework religiously. Hard (but slow) grader but gives helpful feedback. I'd recommend her for freshman comp, but she'll be harder in upper classes (I'm sure). It is a very demanding course. She grades harshly but teaches the student a lot about research writing. I learned a lot but would not take her class again. There is a tremendous amount of work involved but she also gives many opportunites to do well in the class. Also very strict about attendance, homework, and projects.
Demanding is not the word for this course. She should be teaching other professors. OH MY GOD!!! perfect attendance must have pushed me to an A. I knew for sure I had a C. I learned more in her class than all my others put together. the most improtant skill for a college student to learn is read. I get it now.

Great teacher. Yes she is very hard and it is a very demanding course but in the end it is worth it. She allows you to have opportunities to move up a letter grade or two and it is not hard to do. It is a hard class at the time but as long as you do what you are supposed to, she will not let you end up with a bad grade.
This teacher has MANY mental problems. Her grading does not add up. You can only earn 100 points, but she can and will deduct 175 points. Contradicts herself all of the time. She rants on how much you will learn... but I did not learn anything that I did not already know... it is just engl.1200 should not be that difficult. She is crazy. AVOID.

If you have an amazing talent of kssing up, you'll be ok. If not, good luck surviving each day of class listening to her sad life stories. Don't be late (even by 10 seconds), she will throw a fit and kick you out, failing you in everything the class does that day.
Works your A-- off but knows her stuff. She teaches reading strategies for research, use them other classes, they work. I'm passing courses thanks to her. Takes attendance do not be late for class, penaltizes everything, but rewards too. if lazy avoid this class, want to learn how to write, take Prof Whichard. You'll learn alot.
If you're looking for a red flag, HERE IT IS! Do NOT take any courses with this professor. She is the absolute worse in every aspect possible. Claims her feedback means everything, yet doesn't give you old projects back until the next one is due! Gives you a zero and an absence if you have proofreading errors on BB, yet doesn't use proper grammar on BB or in e-mails. (you are only allowed 3 absences and 3 hw zeros before you fail!!!) Makes the class harder than necessary.
ALARM, ALARM, ALARM!!! Do not take her class. This woman is a bogus charlatan. She is inconsiderate, self-absorbed, and has no regard for the plight of her students. This Lady has no idea what is going on. She seems unstable and grades harshly. I write nothing less than B- papers, and she would give me 30's and 40's for some unknown reason. I wouldn't recommend her to an enemy!

An absolutely horrible teacher. She degrades students on a personal level, loves to find reasons to fail people, and made 3 students in my class cry, one of which was a boy. Stay away, unless you know how to kiss-up and pretend she is awesome.
Absolutely the worst teacher I ever had at ECU. I graduated and have gone back to school and everytime I see her it brings back horrible memories. Nothing you do in class is ever right and always finds something to yell at you about. I didnt learn anything in there. She is by far the worst teacher there is at this university. NEVER TAKE HER!!!
This class is so hard. If you don't previously know you are a good writer, don't take the class. She's really just a control freak, and refuses to answer questions in class. I probably have learned a lot, but I feel like I can't concentrate on any of my other classes. I wouldn't take her again just because I can't put that much time into one class.

She was a tough teacher all through the semester. You can't just go in her class and play around, you have to work. She grades you on improvement. She's tough but in the end it's all worth it.

She has her moments, but overall isn't that bad.She has strict rules and requirements for all papers, but they are simple, and if you follow them and STAY on her good side then you will do fine. Helps out with revisions to papers and extra credit opportunities. Also service learning is required. Really isn't all that bad and you learn a lot!
This is my second time taking a course w/Prof Whichard. I can assure you that she is extremely demanding and attendance freak but a very good teacher. Students who say bad thins about her are lazy and do not belong at ECU.
She was probably the best english teacher I have had. She actually teaches, after taking this class I felt like I learned alot. Her strict rules provide motivation for the assignments otherwise I would have slacked off.
I think Professor Whichard is an excellent teacher. She is very demanding, but so is life. Students who complain, don't do their work, and then blame her are pure lazy. The real world is very demanding and employers will not put up with crap the same way she doesn't put up with crap. Grow up or drop out. She REALLY wants to see student succeed
This woman makes English 1200 ridiculously harder than it should be!!! I wish I had gotten out while I had the chance, please if you can help GET OUT OF HER CLASS WHILE YOU CAN! I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown last week and her class had A LOT to do with it!!! This class has made me cry and she makes you feel so bad if you make mistakes.

Professor Whichard would be a good professor if she had a better attitude. She shows no compassion whatsoever when students are involve in unevitable circumstanaces. This class seemed overwhelming at first. Homework grades are printing out papers. It's as simple as that. Quizes are fill in the bank and take place almost every day. memorize the notes you take. This is a demanding course and should not be taken lightly. Eventually I enjoyed her class because it helped shape my future! NO LIE!!!
Professor Whichard is not an easy teacher by no means. She is VERY demanding. I didn't like the class becuase it was hard and time consuming but last semester my history professor asked about my good research skills and writing. I must give credit to Whichard..she made me LEARN the stuff & now its paying off. I got an A in history.
Whatever you do, do NOT take Whichard. Stay away. Just trust me, even if heavy work loads don't bother you and you enjoy writing papers, pick someone else. Try for Dr. Taylor, or Banks, or ANYONE except Whichard. Do it for your sanity.

Prior to enter this class I was a good catholic boy. One that went to confession, cleaned behind my toilet, groomed my family pets three times a day, and loved the light of day. Now, I smoke crack rocks! Enough said. True Story. Foolishly take this class and you will end up on "intervention". I cry at night now.
Lets just say...well there is nothing to say. She is horrible. First day of class...Kid walks in 30 SECONDS late and she calls him out and gives him a tardy, first day! STAY AWAY!!! STAY AWAY!!! I LOVVVVVE HER. her class is hard, she's really demanding but she WANTS you to do good and gives step by step EXACT directions to help you do so. you only do bad if you choose not to follow her steps perfectly to detail. VERY HELPFUL if you make an appointment during her office hours. COOL AS HELL if you don't mind working.

Professor Whichard is tough and demanding but because of what she taught me about research I am now in graduate school. I heard she was no longer at ECU. what a loss. Those who talk negative about Whichard, I am sure they are lazy students. Shame on you.

Her class is really tough, but she's the best teacher I have ever had and wants you to do good! She really prepares you to write college level papers, which is what she is supposed to do, so everyone needs to chill a bit!
