She does not give good directions. Does not give good information of what is going to be on the test. Does not go over materials that are going to be on the test (in-dept). Please do not take her class.
I will admit that she is not the best teacher if you want to learn good English. She has an accent that is hard to understand at times, but she will help you if you do not understand! If you fail, it's not her fault, it's just because you didn't try!
she is a very hard teacher: she can not speak very good english at all, and is hard to understand when giving lecture. I would advise not a single person to get her as a teacher. She is good for upper level classes not intro math.
Terrible
this teacher sucks! i can't understand anything she says and she isn't a very good teacher. i also hate what she wears. i will never take her class again. bad bad bad teacher....
This teacher should be teaching at FMU. she is too tough. People majoring in math may find her easy but if you dont like math dont take her. I suffered the whole time. she doesnt speak clear and she is annoying.
she is very unclear when teaching and dosent not want to help students
tries to keep u in her class until test day. takes off for little things on test. makes you feel slow when you ask questions. she expect u to know the first time she go over it. i hope she go back to her country.

Most of the people on here that are rating this professor probably want their grades handed to them on a silver platter. well i got news for you! This is college and its not happening so GET OVER IT!
Forget trying to take notes in the class. The notes on the board dont seem to go in any type of consecutive order. She is very good at math but the teaching profession is not for her.
If you plan on taking her listen hard. She speaks broken English which can sometimes mess you up. Her notes on the board are sometimes unorganinzed so watch her first then copy!
It looks like Narayan her self decided to add in her own little rating listed below. Grades handed on a silver platter... YOU will probably be doing most of the teaching to yourself, so be prepared to buy tons of math books that break it down.
I had her my eighth grade year in middle school and she was hard then. But now she seems easy if you paid attention in high school you can easily pass her class with at least a B+
I totally agree she rated herself!! HAHAHA
She is the worst professor ever. Do not take her. She enjoys failing her students. when I went to her office for help, I didn't get it the first time so she kicked me out. She grades this math class like she would a 500 level course. It is impossible to get grade any higer than a D on her test!!!!!!
Narayan is hard to understand, but she is very helpful when you need help on any problem.

SHe's very easy. But if you don't have a good background in math then I suggest that you don't take her.
She is a good teacher. But sometimes you can't understand her. But she is very nice and helpful. If you like an easy teacher she is for you.
When she teaches, she just stands at the board and slops down notes. Terrible hand writing and very hard to understand. She will focus and teach on a certain subject one day and at the end of class give you a quiz on the material you learned the day before. Quizzes every week!
she is not as bad as evryone is saying. i found her very easy. she takes her time to make sure you understand the work. sometimes she can be hard to understand and she gives you a good bit of homework but overall she is pretty easy.
DONT TAKE THIS WOMEN!! she wont help you, even if you go to her office. you cant understand a word she says. her test are rediculously long and dhe wont give you extra time to finish, even outside of class time. re-took the class with Byrd and got an easy A. Learned more with Byrd too.
Hard class. Im sorry to say, but its hard to understand her speaking sometime, which makes her teaching just that much harder. Her tests are crazy hard too, but somehow i still pulled off a B in the class.
She is so easy to get atleast a B. Kind of confussing but she knows what she is talking about. You can pass if you are willing to do some work.
You should have tooken this course in high school. It's equivalent to AlgebraII. Even though I had her in the eighth grade and flunked her class, I came out of math 111 with a B. She'll help you if she see that you're tryin to help yourself.
The material in the class is not the problem, its obviously the teacher. Reviewing over old material from past Alegbra classes would be helpful considering most of us dont remember *EVERY* SINGLE THING TAUGHT years prior. Slopping down a bunch of problems and telling the students to do them is not a good teaching method either.
At first I was a little skeptical about havin this class because of these ratings, but most of thesae aren't true she is easy. I don't have a strong background in math but i cam out of her class with a B. You gotta take her class to see if she is easy to you, with this teacher you can't just take other peoples word.
It's true her speech is a little hard to understand but if you pay attention and write down everything then you will pass the class with an A. A little advice sit in front and pay attention and you wont have any problems. Overall i enjoyed the class.

I disagree...I think that she's a great teacher. If you pay attention in class, take notes, and study for tests, you can make an easy A. I highly recommend her!
As long as you pay attention she isn't hard to understand, and if you keep up on homework everything eles is a breeze. I would recommend her to anyone!
Very good course, and I went to every one of them!
She is hard to understand and doesn't know how to work a calculator very well but she does know a lot about math if you can understand her...
Okay, I made an A in her class...BUT it was SO hard. She is very hard to understand and doesn't understand alot of what you say to her. She's very smart but really doesn't convey what she knows very well. She's a very nice person but if I had to take her again..i'd be VERY upset because that class was just horrible!
She is very hard to understand. If you try to ask her a question, she makes you feel stupid
She is totally off the planet. When u ask her for help she is hard to understand and u really feel like you are stupid. WORST PROFESSOR AT FMU!
She is by far the WORST teacher at FMU. You cannot understand her, she makes you feel stupid, she can't explain things at all. DO NOT take her, she will fail you!!
I liked her class because, even though I am naturally bad at math, she explained each math concept in a simplistic manner. Yes, she is hard to understand at first, but it only takes a day or two to grow accustomed to her accent. HINT: Read each lesson a day ahead of her. Then, when she's teaching it, everything makes a lot more sense.
In her class I made a D+ and I am a history major so clearly I'm not that good at math. I can tell you however that if you EVER need help you can ask her...just before or after class...not during she will freak out. As long as you have the correct calculator you should make an A in the class.
So...yes Mrs. Narayan can b a pain But this is my 2nd time taking this course & i think it is just a matter of not being lazy and doing the homework 2 keep the stuff fresh in ur mind!*She gets really mad, if u talk, use ur phone or do other irrelevant things in her class! Just pay attention & don't b the lazy college students u want 2 b!
despite her accent (which you get used to) i thought she was a very easy math teacher, much more so than the teacher i just had (sprano, don't take him)just do your homework because you get extra credit on your tests if you do, i never studied, and made a b+, not difficult
I've taken her twice. The first time i completely did so bad that she suggested i drop. I changed my major and took her again this time i made a B+. Overall take her with a grain of salt, she is a good teacher but she has her ways. Don't be lazy and go talk to her if you have problems. She also records her lessons and keeps them on blackboard.
If you are not stupid (as in you don't care enough to make an effort to pass the class), she is a very good teacher. I failed math twice at tech, and when I took her class my first semester at FMU I made an A. She explains math really well, and it became easy even for someone who sucks at math.
I just loved Mrs. Narayan! I made a B+ simply because she was nick picky about some stuff. Just don't go to sleep, have your phone out, or talk to others (where she can see you) and you will be alright! I would gladly take her again!
Rude, not helpful, acts like she hates all students. Avoid at all costs!!
I found her to be a great teacher. I enjoyed her class.
Ms. Narayan is awesome! A lot of people acted skeptical towards her but she's a great teacher and helps you alot. Take advantage of her office hours. I hardly came and I made a B!
Really does a good job of explaining things and makes things easy to understand. Do the homework and take notes in class and test aren't to difficult.
She was an ok teacher at first, but as the semester progressed she was hard and went way too fast. She rushed you on test, way too much to finish in the time she allowed. She always got upset if you asked her a lot of questions. Her test are hard, no multiple choice. Be sure to do the problem sets she gives, it helps with your grade in the end.
Great class. Loved every bit of it
Great class
I liked her class. Sometimes she can be kind of rude when you ask her a question though. She was very helpful if you go to her office hours. Take her at your own risk!!!
I liked her, she tries to be funny which sometimes can come off as kind of rude. She takes the class serious, so as long as you pay attention and don't talk while she is. Sometimes she may go a little fast but she clarifies and breaks it down to a simpler way of understanding it.
Not to be demeaning/derogatory, but I can't understand her. Heavy accent and talks too fast. Assigns hard projects. Nice and funny sometimes, but rude if you ask for help. Would not recommend if you don't like math, but need the credit like me.
Professor Narayan is very hard to understand in every way you could imagine. She teaches very fast and doesn't stop to answer questions. She is rude when you do ask questions and doesn't help much at all. Her tests and projects are hard. You will have to go to the tutoring center to pass.
Did not find Dr. Narayan very helpful. Assignments were unclear and homework was difficult without any explanation. Flies through the material.
She spends little time on explaining difficult lessons and can be very rude and impatience at times. She doesn't provide clear directions for homework and projects. She does tries to help a little on certain assignments. She also requires you to keep all your graded assignments for your portfolio at the end of the semester.
She can be kind of rude at first but you have to get to know her. She will help you if you go to her office and likes to joke around every now and then . Let's you turn in work a little later if need be.
One of the worst math teachers I've ever had. If you ask a question in class, she is very rude and makes you feel dumb for even asking. Homework is graded in great detail. Even if the answer is correct she still takes off points for irrelevant stuff. Tests are way too long and detailed. I would NOT take her again or reccomend anyone to take her.
Very unorganized, she knows the material very well. She just doesn't know how to teach it to others. Is foreign so she's difficult to understand, and she doesn't break down the math problems step by step she just shows you how it's solved and expect you to mysteriously know without explanation. She's also extremely rude.
I got an A, but it was rough. She is foreign and her accent makes it very difficult to understand anything she says, but if you ask for clarification she will berate you in front of the class and act like you are stupid. She never goes into detail and does not seem to understand that she is TEACHING, not talking to other professors, we need depth.
We had chapter tests every two weeks. But the class itself was easy as long as you did the work. She put the daily notes on blackboard. If you pay attention and come to class you should be fine. People complain about her for no reason, she is a great professor.
Super nice and ready to help students. Always there in her office hours and past them. Do the study guides because her tests are literally there. Ask questions, she won't move on until you get it. She's sorta rude but it's all out of love lol
I loved having Mrs. Narayan. She actually cares about how you do in her class so she really helps you if you need it, and her homework helps a lot. She makes comments on what you need to work on which is helpful. She was my favorite professor I had this semester. I would take again.
I dont know why people are complaining she was the easiest professor I had. Always ready to help outside of class. Her tests are basically same thing as the study guide she gives. She does give lot of Homework but its easy. And homework would really bump your grade up. And she also take 1 low test and homework grade out.
She was a pretty good professor and willing to help you when you need it. Homework was given about every night but it was easy. The tests were relatively easy also as long as you study and know what you are doing. Pay attention in class! This is not an easy A, you have to work for it, but it is doable.
She's a great professor and answers questions. She has a heavy accent that you get used to. She's not too particular grading her exams. Get ready to work a lot, she gives lengthy assignments that are due the day of the exam. She has a good sense of humor and will answer your questions but give you a hard time about it (not in a bad way).
Professor Narayan is awesome. I took her two semesters in a row. Always reachable at her office hours, makes sure you understand the material. It is hard but shes there every step of the way. She knows the material and wont go on unless you do too. Her tests are literally the homework. SHe helps you with the project at the end.
All I can really say is bring plenty of paper for notes. Not the easiest class but if you put in the effort you'll do fine. She's always willing to help you understand something, so don't be afraid to ask. Textbook is mainly used for homework. Good teacher, would take again for sure.
She does have a heavy accent which can make her hard to understand at times but I definitely recommend her. She help me understand math I would say that her class was more understandable than my high school math teachers. She explains in good details, gives plenty of examples and is organized . I made a 94 on my final exam so she's good.
I definitely recommend you to take her , the way she teaches help and the homework helps to and if you dont understand you can go to her and she will definitely try and help you. The course overall is hard but she makes it more understandable.
Professor Narayan is wonderful! Shes a tough grader, but genuinely cares about your success in the class. Just be sure to pay attention and study the material in the class. If you dont understand something, please go to her office hours.
Dr. Narayan really does care for you and wants you to succeed. But if you suck at math then DO NOT take her, she is super fast and you can barely understand what she says half of the time. She is very dependent on the tests and she always goes over the time limit in class. She doesn't explain anything thoroughly and expects you to understand it.
Professor Narayan has no filter and can come off very rude at times. She talks and lectures very fast. She has no personal notes everything is "textbook based" on notes she post in BB. Its more a self teaching class because it is very fast paced. You have MyMathLab and sheet hw assignments which is a lot. Even worst her test her heavy and very long
Dr. Narayan's class was hard. The lectures were hard to follow and I had to do most of my learning outside of the classroom. However, she tries to explain when you don't understand. There are 3 tests outside of the final, and a project. There are usual 6 homework assignments before each test. Good Luck!!
If you really struggle with math, I wouldn't recommend her class since she can be difficult to understand; however, she is a fair grader and gives you all the information you need to succeed. She is organized and will help outside of class. As long as you do what you're supposed to, you'll be fine.
She is so rude and will call you out in front of the entire class. She has a no-phone rule. She gives you a ridiculous amount of homework and then complains that she has a lot to grade. Quizzes and exams are difficult. The only good thing I can say is that she does give partial credit. Overall this was not a good class and I dreaded going everyday.
She can come off has rude with her comments. One class she graders our work in front of the class then called us up individually to tell us what we did wrong. I had to learn most of the stuff myself outside of class. Do not recommend if you struggle with math.
I would not recommend anyone to take this class with her. During lectures, her handwriting is sloppy and its hard to understand her. She does not want any phones in class and will call people out. She complains about grading but gives out a lot of homework. Her exams are tough. She is there if you need extra help. If you take her class.. good luck
If the textbook wasn't so good I wouldn't have passed this class. I had to teach myself everything outside of class because I couldn't understand what she taught in class. All she does is read from the notes, she barely explains the lesson herself. When she's giving examples she goes so fast you can't keep up, and it's hard to understand her.
Do not take this class
Would not take a class with her again even if I needed the class to graduate, I would simply take the class elsewhere.
Literally the worst teacher at Francis Marion. Insanely rude to students and just does the examples from the notes instead of providing anything else. Online homework and paper homework- just so much homework
She does not care about you and she is very hard to understand. Reads directly off of slides. Does not provide a study guide for tests. Grades homework like it is an exam. Will never cancel class; she will get a sub.
Starting off I really disliked her, but I ended up liking her at the end. Despite this, she's rude and when you email her, you're 100% going to get a rude response. She will mark off points for any small thing, impossible to get 100. I struggle with math so I had to learn off textbook. She's pretty flexible though and will help you if you need it.
Well where shall I start. If you're not great at math and don't have to take her DROP IMMEDIATELY. She grades homework as if they're exams. Furthermore, she is quite rude. The textbook saved me since her accent is quite different from what we're use to hearing down here. RUN NOW and if you stay in there then yeah:/
I would advise you not to take this class. I did very good in math years prior but never have i had a 75 as my final grade. We had 3 tests the whole semester and each are based on 3+ chapters. We get paper homework for every chapter and well as online homework, and a couple of classwork. Would've dropped, but I didn't want to take the class again.
I've never had lower than a C before, and I failed her class. If you struggle in math, please don't take her. I'm retaking the course online with Sofia Waymyers and have an A.
Did not do a good job of teaching the material, I still don't understand any of it.
