very dramatic with retellings of myth...doesn't seem to care about students...

She sucks and is always going off track to talk about sex
Witty, wacky, and wonderful. She is willing to address any questions students have, and is readily available outside of class. Midterm exam was very representative of course material. Paper topics are fun to explore.I'd love to take another class w/her
she was the worst teacher i've ever had.
Her midterm and final tend to be tougher than Overton's and other MMW professors, but if you do the readings, take good notes and study her slides, you'll do super good!! Her lectures may be a bit confusing at first... GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS, she's sonice
Very witty, funny, and fun. Lectures- bit more complex (than Overton), facts&ideas get linked to other things, which make it hard to follow sometimes. Exams are okay. If you talk to her,she is extremely nice, helpful, and cares so much about your learning.
This was the best class I have ever taken! She is a very good lecturer, interesting topics... Can always relate ANYTHING to sex, which makes it all the more interesting! Half the fun of the class was going to see what she would be wearing today! She has some CRAZY style... But I loved the class.
She's awesome. Didn't care much for the material, but she does everything possible to make it as painless as possible. She even ended the quarter by taking our class out to dinner-- and she paid! I don't know any prof who would do that. LOVE HER.
She's a marvelous teacher and a marvelous human being. Cares deeply about her students, makes really helpful and interesting comments, very engaging lectures. Highly recommended. Oh, and very cool and sexy.
She really marches to the beat of her own drum, but if nothing else, go to class to see what she's wearing today. She's quite intelligent and makes some very interesting points about the material. (Not everything is about sex.) She even remembered my name months after the class was over.
What a disappointment this course was. Seems to think flamboyance and style make up for lack of substance in her courses. Maybe she's good in other courses, or in person, but by all appearances from this class she does not take her teaching seriously.
i've had her before & normally she's pretty good but she totally phoned this course in. needs to rethink her priorities or something because this course was the worst i have taken, undergrad or grad.
She has a bad reputation, but she really isn't bad. Her lectures are interesting, clear, well thought out, etc. Although some people are bothered by her constant references to sex, it sometimes helps to make the topic more interesting. Tests are very representative of reading and lecture.
Professor duBois is crazy! But in a good way. It was always worth it to go to class just to see what she was wearing that day (one day was plaid head to toe...) her lectures seem difficult since she doesn't use powerpoints or anything, but less reading and easier test than others. Just don't sleep!
Great lecturer, gives you an outline at the beginning of class. Tests were based upon the slides she showed in lecture, passage ID's, ID's and essays. This class is only horrible if you have a bad TA. The proffessor is awesome, and she has an intersting sense of style.
I picked Dubois because I heard she was eccentric and based everything on sex. For the first 5 weeks she wore black head to toe, was extremely boring, and made no jokes. Her lectures, however, are extremely to the point. Don't read the Craig book, go to lecture. The passage IDs are a killer.
She was really nice and helpful, she approaches the material clearly when it comes to be prepared for class. Talks kinda fast so I recommend a tape recorder or laptop, but other wise she presented the material well and her tests are really fair.
Took her twice for the same class. She knows her Gk/Rm myths, but the world myths class was new material for her and I dropped b'c it was boring. She speaks extremely softly, considering the size of her classes and wasn't all that helpful re:paper topics.
not very good. I can't tell if she just dislikes teaching, but she's a really lazy lecturerl - doesn't prepare at all - and just talks about whatever she wants without necessarily leading to a point. paper comments are useless and idiosyncratic. take her only if you want to take Intro to Page duBois, since her outfits are interesting, but that's it
i really learned a lot from her course, especially by attending lecture. she chose interesting topics for discussion and was very obliged to help with any questions.
She totally mails it in - lecturers are more like casual, scattered conversation. I think most of her energy goes toward her books and teaching is just a chance to show off her cool sense of fashion and how witty she can be. Sometimes she does deal with some interesting stuff, but mostly she seems to have a lot of disdain for her classes.
Professor Dubois sometimes seems to go out of the scope of the curriculum material to make borderline anti-semitic comments. She has a friendly demeanor but some of her comments are unsettling and often quite unfounded.
I took Mythology with her. Participation counts, quizzes every thursday, VAGUE, rambles, writes nothing on the board ever despite difficult spellings and fast details. Tests completely random. Hard papers with no prompts whatsoever.
The class is straight forward and not at all difficult. All you have to do is pay attention and do the readings. The essay is fun because you get to write on any topic that interests you! The point of learning is to develop our own ideas that interests us. Overall, I recommend this course!
i was dissatisfied with this class, i thought i was done with sex ed. in high school but i guess not. she spent most classes talking about sex. extremely monotone voice, which couldn't hold my attention.
This is a grad seminar, and I didn't learn a thing from her. She clearly plays favorite, and you know it when you are not one of them. She also wears very strange clothes. Her lecture are long and repetitive; the only good thing is the class was easy, that's about it..........
Her scholarly interest in ancient cultures is apparent. As is her want to get students to think seriously and care what kind of world they live in, where it comes from and how one can change one's own self. I learned that you can even change your mind, think differently about things and actually learn something from antiquity.
Explains concepts of her lecture quite well. She writes an outline of her lecture before class including terms which are of focus(this comes in handy for the midterm). She doesnt just talk about sex, she teaches the vast views of cultures. It's college,be mature and just learn about different cultures
She is very interesting to listen to and keeps you attention on the material. She is also super helpful in class, and outside of class, and very easy to talk to. Keeps the lectures clear, and test very representative of material she lectures on. Answers any and all questions.
She really isn't as bad as everyone makes her out to be. Yes there is some "sexual content" but not to the extent of some of these reports. Her tests are completely fair, and she even has study guides that are EXTREMELY helpful! Ppl should really give her more credit for the amount of work she puts into this class and pretty helpful too.
I liked Professor duBois, she's an eccentric but compassionate and likeable lady. Her lectures were interesting and her exams were very fair and representative of her lectures and readings. I actually enjoyed this class by the end. duBois has a sharp sense of humor and is very knowledgeable, you just have to give her time to show that.
her voice is super boring. her sex related talks do not help her voice . shes nice... jus very monotone. i guess if you like to study and read take her... but she doesnt have powerpoints so goodluck note taking.
Page is awesome! Very eccentric but super sweet and passionate about what she is talking about. Very easy final and midterm - both had study guides. You don't need to read the T+E, only read the pages she reads out in class and take notes during lecture. I loved her sex talks! Helped keep class interesting.
Her lectures are usually interesting and easy to follow. She focuses a lot on passages and artwork for tests, not so much 'textbook' though it's helpful to read it to understand the material. I didn't think the tests were too hard, but it also depends on your TA. But overall, I liked her class.
easy A. know her study guide, which is really simple. take her for sure for mmw
easy A class, nice to have for your first MMW course. midterm/final are exactly like the study guides
very good professor. her class was interesting and a very good professor to take.
easy and boring.
She was absolutely amazing, and I adored her. She's incredibly passionate and wonderful.
I had Prof. DuBois quite a while ago. She was very funny and eccentric, which made this much more than your average male-centric mythology course. I liked her refreshing approach. (Not sure why people complain about not using PowerPoint. It would drain the life out of this kind of class.)
Professor duBois is really funny and her lectures are extremely interesting. She's really sassy and her fashion is adorable, especially her Pokemon skirt. She makes lectures fun and enjoyable and points students out when they talk or leave class. Also, her exams are exactly like her study guides. All ERC students should take duBois for mmw 11. :)
After taking this class, now I have understood the ridiculously complicated relationships among the Greek gods. She explains the text very well. Here's a suggestion to get an A in this class. First attend her lecture and write down everything subtle. Working hard for the midterm, and use your imagination to analyze the text rationally
She's the best. The midterms are like hugs, and the finals are like kisses.
Easiest A you could get at UCSD. Don't show up to class (seriously don't. Most boring lectures I've ever been to).. Just study her study guide WHICH IS EXACTLY THE MIDTERM WORD FOR WORD, and ace it. She let people who were happy with their grades not take the final this year!
Professor DuBois is a kind woman who is passionate about MMW. Her lectures might be a little long because of her lulling voice, but you learn a lot from the class. She's very lenient, even making the final optional. Overall, I recommend this professor if you want to get an easy grade while still thoroughly learning the material.
I felt a little guilty about having Dubois for MMW while watching the other students have to do real work for the other MMW professors. Nevertheless, I was extremely pleased to be taught by Dubois because 1) the midterm was very easy if you paid any attention to lectures and 2) the final was optional this quarter. Mandatory discussions, of course
She is an extremely nice person. Just make sure not to yawn in class or anything like that or she will call you out. It is a little difficult since her lectures were a little dull. But overall, an easy class. I didn't even have to take the final because she made it optional.
Dr. Dubois is an incredible professor. Her lectures are engaging and the course material is good as well. She will whip you into shape if you fall asleep or are disrespectful in class so make sure to pay attention and participate. She also has been great in helping me get credit for the class after I had to leave to get back surgery.
Professor Dubois is one of the best professors that I've had the opportunity to study with. her scope of knowledge is impressive.
Basically, just do all the reading and its an easy A. She did not even require us to take the final the quarter I took her. She allowed us to base our grade off simply the midterm and discussion participation.
She is so funny and I really enjoy going to her class.
Super easy. Midterms exactly like studyguide. You don't have to show up to class or even do the reading. Regarding grading however, it's really up to which TA you get.
There was a final this quarter. And it kinda sucked cuz it wasn't just like the study guide so make sure you don't piss her off by not going to lecture or something. Your grade depends on your TA (my TA was so harsh :c ) but in general, everyone hates mmw.
It seems like you'd either love or dislike her. I wasn't a big fan of her lectures since she doesn't use powerpoint slides and her voice makes me fall asleep. Her lectures are basically the textbook readings with some added details. Had a lot less readings than my friends in Herbst's. Midterm was easy and final was alright though.
I really loved her lectures. Her voice was actually good to listen for me lol. Your grade will definitely depend on your TA. The final was alright. Wasn't as easy as the midterm. For Longman, you can just skip the texts and focus on the passages and you'll be fine. The midterm was just like the study guide. Make sure you pay attention.
She's everything I aspire to be as an old woman. Midterm is so easy, final's pretty easy. Just read the readings and attend most of the classes, this should be an easy A.
The lectures were overall so boring.. Tests are fair
Professor DuBois is the BEST professor I've had in UCSD. She is such a nice and classy old lady. We all love her looks! Her level of knowledge is phenomenon. She is respected by all the students. I'm so honored to be her student in MMW 11. Although the lectures are really heavy and require active attention, they are so great by her!
Your grades totally depends on your TA, but the exams were fairly easily if you studied the exam guide. BTW, the extra credit did help your final grade.
Don't go to lectures. She's SO dull. You can ace the class just by reading the pages she assigns,STUDYING the study guides, and attending discussion (mandatory). Grade determined by TA. 1 midterm and 1 final (not cumulative). ALL memorization of the history content. Takes effort to study and read but def. the easiest mmw professor, HANDS DOWN
Grade entirely up to TA, but you're at least guaranteed a B. Lectures are unorganized compared to other professors and it's so easy to fall asleep, but the class is fair. Midterm and final were exactly like study guide, only hard part is IDing passages (you better read), but you can get away with cramming. There's extra credit. Has cool outfits.
Professor DuBois is a great MMW professor. In lecture she writes key terms on the board and those are pretty much all you need to know to ace the midterm and final. I found her lectures to be interesting and funny.
Nice professor, but the lectures were very scattered and all over the place. The class consisted of weekly quizzes and a paper on something with mythology which isn't too difficult but if you actually want to learn something I do not recommend. Left more confused about mythology than I began.
DuBois is one of my favorite professors for MMW. Her lecture style is old school, as she stands in the front of the room and talks, but she is a really funny professor and helps the material "come to life". Dubois is VERY clear about what was on the midterm and final. As long as you are willing to study the study guide, it should be an easy A.
She's really funny and keeps the lectures interesting. However, you don't really need to attend the lectures to pass the class. The midterm review is extremely similar to the actual midterm. Doesn't assign homework other than the readings. Talks about sex A LOT (but its chill).
Professor duBois is a very nice woman. She really does care about her students; just go to her office hours for that. She will help with whatll be on the midterm/final. Just be careful with your TA because they can be very tough graders. Her study guides are explicit and you will have a set of directions of what she wants on the tests.
Straightforward, doesn't throw curveballs for midterms, and is extremely nice! Lectures can get boring, but she does write all the key terms on the board so as long as you know those and read all the primary source passages(poems/holy texts/etc) you should get a good grade on her tests. You can get away with not reading if you attend lecture.
I just love her so much. Prof. duBois is awesome. If you pay attention, you'll learn a lot. She is so knowledgeable in literature. So inspirational. So cute. I wish I can just be like that. Some think she's really weird because she talks about sex A LOT. It's not her fault. It's just what ancient Greece is. PS Her outfits are very nice. Artistic.
Learning Greek and Roman mythology was a wonderful journey! Her lectures go over and analyze the required readings, and occasionally she'll have one question pop quizzes to see if you did the reading. Grade was based on a single 8-10 page paper of any topic, as long it was mythology-related. Kind, passionate, and raises many interesting topics.
Prof Dubois is really nice but her lectures consist of her talking upfront with no slides or anything so it can be a little hard to pay attention. Attendance is mandatory because she does pop quizzes to test you on the readings. Graded on an 8-10 page paper that can be written about anything as long as it relates to greek and roman mythology.
I am providing this rating because as a student, I was able to provide my experiences I've had in college to her and she said she felt she gained a new insight of how the students feel. She also explained that she would love to get to know her students well, but working in a big classroom is difficult. She is an amazing individual overall.
Lectures seriously lull you to sleep but its important to pay attention because she doesn't have Powerpoint slides or anything. Previous reviews about her talking about sex are accurate, she somehow manages to talk about it every single lecture lol. Midterms and final well represented in her study guides
Dubois is a spunky woman. She's really easy, one midterm that's not bad, and the final isn't bad either. Her lectures can be boring but pay attention whenever she mentions a reading because those will be the readings that come up on the test. Her outfits are always on point. She talks about sex a lot too
Dubois is definitely the easiest MMW11 professor. She doesnt use powerpoint and just talks for the entire class but her lectures are identical to the readings. Her discussion sections are participation based so attendance is mandatory for those but lectures are definitely optional. Exams are straightfoward and follow the study guides closely.
She doesn't use PowerPoints or any visual learning tools during her lecture. She does speaks with a clear voice and always made the lecture engaging. She does makes sexual references but it's all academic. Overall, she's a pretty cool teacher and I wish she teaches MMW 12 too. Definitely will take her again.
There's alot of say regarding how her tests are easy and such, BUT there are some things you guys should take into account. The classes are all curved so even if you get a professor that is a hard grader, he won't let the class grade average be a D-. Just keep that in mind. Personally, the way she talks didn't suit me at all. Way too slow.
Dubois's class is very lecture heavy, however you don't need to go to do well in the class because she gives clear study guides for tests. Lectures can be boring, but interesting if you engage. The final is a lot harder than the midterm, so I suggest studying hard to do well on the midterm so that you have some leeway with the final!
Professor DuBois is great. Even though it's a lot of content and it was sometimes hard to pay attention to what she said, her slow pace was really good and made the subject easier to grasp. Her tests were heavily based on the readings. They weren't hard tho, very straight forward and if you read you'll get an A. Office Hours --> she is amazing!
The class was graded upon 3 things. The Midterm, Final, and Participation in the discussion section. She gives out a study guide before the midterm and final, and all you really need to do is memorize what is on it and you'll get an A.
DuBois's class was easy and I learned a lot. She gives a clear cut study guide for both the midterm and the final which are the outline of the exam. I didn't do a lot of readings, but I attended every lecture and took detailed notes. Lecture is important because some terms that are on the study guide were defined in class, but are not in the book.
Prof DuBois is a caring professor who is humorous and easy-going. Her lectures are not the best and can get boring sometimes. Grades are determined by 2 tests (a midterm and a final) and discussion section participation. The tests are not hard if you study for them since she post very detailed study guides a week before.
old school lecture style, but keeps it interesting. not too much reading and provides an in-depth study guide. Tests are short and sweet, easy a if you study
Her lectures were pretty boring and a little bit confusing. She doesn't really explain and develop the ideas very well, just throws a bunch of terms at you. This made studying for the tests more difficult because I had to look everything up. You can get a good grade if you just go to lecture and do the readings.
I absolutely loved DuBois for MMW 11. Her lectures were awesome, and had a soothing voice that for some reason made me pay attention. She posts study guides for the midterm and final, and has fairly minimal reading. She doesn't podcast, but I wouldn't skip lectures for anything. She really puts her all into her teaching, and you can feel it
She's honestly an amazing professor; you can really tell she cares about her students success. Her midterms and final are super reasonable as they reflect the content learned in class. Just study off her study guide! She lectures with no slides but pay attention to the pictures at the end! Also - participate in TA, this was what brought me to an A-
If you're taking this online, there's very little work. You'll write a total of 5 analysis essays and write a weekly discussion post. The TA does all the grading so get to know them. You really don't need to read from the textbook. The discussion questions often come from the book she wrote (Longman). Read those texts and you'll pass with an A!
Really hands off and lets your TA take everything, thoroughly enjoys what shes teaching and you can tell how knowledgeable she is from the lectures (which I did watch in 2x speed), wish I had more direct contact with her though :/ CAs are hard at first to figure out what they want but it gets better :,)
Honestly, she's a really nice professor but like others mentioned, TAs basically do everything. Her lectures are not very interesting and sometimes leaves me confused about what she's talking about. I thought her final exam was a bit unfair.. it was 2 essays "designed to be 3 hrs long" but she asked for detailed citations and 2000 words max
Final made me angry and frustrated that's all I'll say.
I love her. Her lectures are inspirational and so are a lot of the readings. She made me not hate history anymore. TA's do all of the grading but if you show up to their office hours they go easy on you in my experience. The analysis essays are rough sometimes but you get used to them. Great professor, just pray you get an easy TA.
Your grade in the class really depends on how the TA grades your two critical analysis + final. My TA did not read my essay thoroughly, ended up giving me a low score that I had fixed. duBoiss lectures are very lengthy, but she is funny - however, sometimes she starts slurring and I miss out on who exactly or what she is talking about.
This professor is the complete opposite of the rigorous MMW I've heard about. A professor that has very interesting outfit choices, with lectures that contain interesting vocabulary about intercourse. We wrote 3 essays the entire quarter, and they weren't really hard at all. Lectures and readings aren't really mandatory. Take class for easy A.
She's pretty cool, you can definitely skip lectures and be fine. It all comes down to TAs!! The TAs all grade papers differently, and those are what determine your grade in the class. Easy class as long as you do well on the papers (two midterms and one final).
Professor DuBois is clearly very knowledgeable, and she often talks about sex in interesting ways. However, I often find myself bored in her class and unable to concentrate for too long. She also talks slowly then quickly. The grades really depend on your TA, and mine assigned lots of hw while others didn't, but overall it wasn't hard to get an A.
The most solid choice for mmw11. Her essay prompts are the fairest (no tests) and lectures can sometimes be all over the place, but it's ok. It really depends on your TA, mine was harsh, but others were an easy A. I actually read the textbook which helped because it made the essays so much easier to write and I didn't have to cram for them.
TAs do most of the work i had the best one (in my opinion they were very sweet) two critical analysis and a final, duBois was also very sweet I loved how she didn't sugar coat the sex aspect of history, she said it how it was. Clearly very passionate about what she was teaching
Professor DuBois was one of the best professors ever! Although she is very lecture heavy, she was sometimes pretty funny and is always passionate about what she is lecturing about. Although going to lectures is not mandatory, you should go to take notes because they will be important for the papers. The TA's do most of the work grading.
duBois is clearly very knowledgable on the topics she is lecturing about, but she doesn't use slides so you really have to pay attention to what she is saying and lectures can often get boring. TA's do all the grading, but there are only 2 critical analyses and a slightly longer final essay. duBois has amazing fashion sense (an added bonus)
The most boring lectures I've ever been to. It's impossible to stay awake for more than 30 minutes. Her voice is very monotone and talks very fast, not clearly and low in volume. It was a struggle but made my other classes much more enjoyable
Her lectures are brutal. She doesn't use slides, she just talks and it's impossible to follow what she is saying for 80 mins. The grade depends COMPLETELY on your TA. The good thing is no tests (compared to chang). Her essay prompts weren't hard. You do have to do the reading and its a lot.
The grading is dependent on your TA. Unfortunately, sometimes the readings did not align with the essays very well.
Great Prof! Easy if starting the MMW series and sets very well with the rest. I recommend Dubois for MMW 11, Balgerg for 12, Murillo for 13, and 14 and 15 (Dr. Grey) during the summer! I passed them with an A or B+ without much effort!
This is likely going to be your only option. She does not use slides during her lectures. Jumps around different topics. Monotone, dull. No sugarcoating of sex, etc. TAs grade everything; I had a great TA. Discussions take attendance, lectures don't. Lots of reading, she provides the primary texts/sources, but you have to buy the textbooks.
Horrible professor, her lectures did not have podcast recordings or did she use slides. All her lectures were listening to her speak about history and you could barely understand her. Midterm was difficult, a lot of memorization was required of art pictures and vocabulary. The final was easy it was an essay that was graded by TA.
Professor DuBois is generally a great lecturer. The midterm and final are writing heavy, but she gives out a good study guide. She does talk a lot about sex and is more critical of some ancient religions than others. Reading can be dull, but it's all covered in the lectures. Your TA will really make or break your experience.
Dubois is an amazing lecturer! She does not use a powerpoint so you do need to pay attention and attend class. She does go over everything you will need for the midterm and final. Your grade will depend a lot of your TA because they do the grading.
Professor Dubois is the most caring professor and the best MMW professor out of all of them. The best outfit choices, amazing study guides for tests, and had great TAs. She put thought into every lecture and touched on interesting subjects for each time period. Graded on one midterm and final which both have clear study guides and grading criteria.
She hates technology and refuses to podcast her lectures or use slides with bullet points/images. She's not an outstanding lecturer, so you are going to zone out because lectures are just her talking for an hour. One good thing is that she doesn't require attendance, and tbh, if you do the readings and don't go to lectures, you'll be fine.
she has made her class harder in comparison to years. i would not take her unless you have to pick between her and chang then take her. Other than that take someone else. She gives exams and other professors give only essays. would not recommend.
Lectures are incredibly boring, no powerpoints, just her faint voice buzzing in the background for an hour and 20 minutes. She spends an ungodly amount of time talking about sex in different cultures/regions. The textbook is NOT a substitute for lecture, attend your sections regularly to have any remote chance of getting a high grade. Good luck.
Professor Dubois is very knowledgeable and knows what she is talking about. Your grade is based on discussion participation, one midterm, and the final. She doesn't use slides so lectures can be hard to follow.
She was hard to follow because she doesn't use slides. she was very nice & funny. Grade was based on discussion, one midterm, and one final. No assignments, the only thing she assigns is readings, which are covered in class. Gives study guides which were almost identical to the exams. Overall was an easy A if you attend lectures and actually study.
So funny and so queen! She doesn't talk THAT much about sex to be honest and when she does it is refreshing and fun. Attendance is not mandatory, but do NOT skip because she goes over basically everything in the readings and does not post lectures afterwards. Study guides given for midterm and final was basically everything on the exam. Super easy.
Lectures have a bunch of information but are pretty monotone and boring as the Professor just reads and talks for the most part. Not a lot of information is important or useful. Lectures are not recorded but a midterm review document is shared before the midterm. Lot of information to learn for the exams and not a lot of time to write it in.
Prof. Du Bois has really interesting lectures, but because she doesn't use slides they are hard to follow at certain points. There is a lot of material to be familiar with (as with any mmw) and at times what she wants isn't always super clear. She's super passionate about what she teaches and loves if you ask questions and engage with her.
Prof. DuBois is a great professor. However, she doesn't podcast, record lectures, or upload images. So while attendance isn't mandatory, I'd advise you to go. Your grade is pretty much dependent on your TA. There are no other assignments besides the midterm and final, so your grade is easily broken depending on how you do.
Even though Professor Dubois doesn't use slideshows lectures and she doesn't do podcasts, I still got all the information I needed from her lectures, and if you're on the fence because of this, you can sit near the speaker/front and use a voice recorder; although I never needed them. She talks slowly, so it's easy to type what she says.
The obvious cons for Professor Dubois is that she doesn't use PowerPoint or podcasts her lectures, but she lectures in a slow and concise way with outlines and clear transitions to different topics that makes note taking easier.
Her lectures were boring and monotonous. She didn't use slideshows and read facts from a page, usually in a disorganized manner, and in a monotonous tone. It was hard to stay engaged for whole 80 minute lectures. She focused on the topic of sex more than any other professor I've had, and I suspect most hype she has going for her is due to that.
Every class was a fight not to fall asleep. I did not learn all that much from her lectures-- she has a characteristic monotone voice that made everything more boring, even if she was fun sometimes. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she doesn't post recordings. Her exams also required good knowledge of the contents of every reading assigned.
Professor Dubois has an engaging teaching style, though the lack of slides or recordings can make it challenging to follow at times. Attending lectures and using resources like unstuck AI for exam prep are key to success in this class.
I took this class to fulfill a GE requirement. Grading relied on attendance, class discussion, and 16 short, one-page papers based on readings, but the criteria were unclear and subjective. Lectures were boring, and discussions often strayed off-topic. Many required books needed to be purchased. Overall, it was an easy and manageable class.
