Dr. Harden is awesome! She co-teaches the online version of this class with Dr. Gosling. It's super easy, interesting and fun! You are only graded on quizzes at the beginning of each class and a few writing assignments. I never studied for this class and I read the assigned readings an hour before class. I was sad this class ended!
Would not recommend. The grading system is so messed up. I am an A student but am currently failing the class. It is nearly impossible to make a passing grade in this class, and there are no extra credit options. Would NOT recommend this class to ANYONE.
I took this class online with Gosling and Harden and it was a good choice for my social science. The quizzes are the only grades (so no final!) and the lowest 3 are dropped. As long as you take good notes in class and write what you missed on previous quizzes its an easy A. I enjoyed their teaching style and it's very little outside work.
WORST CLASS EVER. I find psychology interesting but this class made me hate it. Benchmarks before every class graded out of 8 questions, so if you miss 1, thats a B. Nothing has ever caused me this much stress at UT and I'm pre-med. If you want an A, stay away!!
If you're looking for an easy A in a psychology class this is a huge NO! You have benchmarks before EVERY class which are made up of 8 questions, so if you miss 1 or 2 you're done. They make up 80% of your grade so if you don't watch,re-watch lecture and take notes on the segments you will not do good. The class itself is interesting but grading no
Great professor and truly enjoyable class. I actually really enjoyed lectures.
Dr. Harden is a great teacher. Her major strengths are her ability to articulate thoughts and her abilities to interact with students. Her grading criteria are super clear and although each lecture is proceeded by a quiz, you are never in the dark about what's going on. She's a great counterpart to Dr. Gosling, with whom she co-teaches the class.
I would really recommend this class! You should expect to get reading every night, but it honestly isn't too bad. The quizzes are open notes, and they don't have any tests so that makes it a lot better than other courses. Also, there is no final, so it isn't super stressful!! Just make sure to keep up with the reading!
Wow, this is for the online PSY301 but I have to say this was such an amazing course. It really felt like she cared that we learn the material and to build up these though processes for looking at things differently. Wonderful professor and would take again in a heartbeat.
Easy A. The quizzes are made up from questions you've missed previously, and new material for each week. If you look over the feedback from each quiz, you should be fine. Also, everything is open note. There's a lot of reading, but you can do fine just by using CTRL+F during the quiz (which is allowed btw).
There is an 8 question quiz in every lecture, which makes up most of the grade. Getting an A takes good notes, careful reading & understanding of the articles, and learning from your mistakes. Harden colectures with Sam Gosling, and both are very easy to follow. Make sure to take good notes when guests are in the lecture. REWATCH THE LECTURES!
The grading criteria is very clear, but you have to make sure to add your point totals towards the end in order to make sure that you make the grade threshold you want. Take notes either during or after the lecture, and pay attention to certain segments. Readings require a bit of in-depth reading, and questions are TA-dependent. A beautiful lady!
Bets online class I've taken as they make it entertaining with segments. Not an easy A unless you really devote yourself to the readings. Recommend if you want a class that fulfills your credit and doesn't take up too much time. Harden is great at explaining things and seems really friendly. Quizzes are at the beginning of each class.
Very easy and interesting class. Grade comes from quizzes each class based on reading & lecture and 4 writing assignments (really easy). I read and took notes on each reading (took about 1 hr. per class) and watched each lecture twice and got 100's on most quizzes. Quiz questions aren't googable. A little effort and you'll be fine.
Awful class. The benchmarks are nearly impossible and they make it so hard to get an A. Do not take this class
this class is easy. dont sit on your phone the whole class and write down what they say even if it seems irrelevant bc that is what is on the benchmarks. paige is very clear at explaining psych concepts and a wonderful prof
Dr. Harden is great! The lectures are usually super interesting, and there are no tests, only quizzes at the beginning of every class. If you take notes during lecture and have them out during the quizzes, they're usually pretty easy. I read maybe 1 in 5 of the readings and got an A.
this is defientely an easy A. the class has open note benchmarks and as long as you took good notes your fine just write down what they say. you dont need to do the readings. also the class was very interesting
I'm sad that I didn't get an A in the intro class for my major, but other than that, Dr. Harden is an amazing professor. She explained the concepts with such clarity and expertise. I would look forward to every lecture, and apply them to my daily life and explain them to my peers. I'm so excited to work in her lab next semester!
She wasn't very understanding when there was a lecture I didn't want to attend due to its sensitive nature, so be aware of that. I didn't like that the class was article-based instead of textbook-based. It seemed a bit too random. My friend showed me his cc psych material and it seemed much more like what I'd expect from a real psych class.
This class was really interesting. I know my grade may not have shown how much I learned, but I really learned a lot. Read the articles, and pay attention to lectures for sure. I wish grading wasn't too harsh because I probably would've done a lot better. Grading is VERY strict and based on 8 questions before class; no final just benchmarks.
Very good in lecture. Clear about the information, offered real-life examples and made everything so easy to apply in daily life. Really liked her in this online class.
I took Intro to Psychology with Professor Harden and Gosling online and I loved it! The lectures are varied, interactive, interesting, and fun. There is an 8 question multiple choice benchmark every class and no final. As long as you read and pay attention you should be okay! Dr. Harden was caring and very knowledgeable.
Online Psy301 (Paige & Gosling) is NOT an easy A course. I spent almost 20 hours a week for this course. Two quizzes each week, not easy ones. Need to re-watch video, read materials few times. You have to be thorough in your understanding to answer quizzes. Out of 22 quizzes (22*8 176 points), you could max lose 14 points and still make an A.
I took this online psychology class and it was good, but frustrating. Paige kept the lectures interesting, but there are benchmarks everyday that are a majority of your grade. If you miss a class and a benchmark then it can really hurt your grade. Make sure to take good notes over each lecture and the readings, they can be used on benchmarks
Harden and gosling teach the course. It's kind of hard to get an A in the class as your grade is based on daily quizzes (benchmarks) and that's it. The quiz questions are often ambiguously worded and can be super specific or very broad. Just make sure you score very well on quizzes, I got an A- by one quiz question and they didn't bump it. READ TOO
Two quizzes every week, indirect questions, mostly ambiguous answer choices. Class material is taught without much link to quiz answers. You need to think fast and hard during 10min quiz. Hard to keep good grade.
If you pay attention to lectures and actually read the material they give you, getting an A is really easy. If you just passively listen to lectures and think that you can just control F the readings during benchmark time it's gonna be difficult for you to get an A.
I took the online PSY301 and I only managed to bring my grade up from a C to a B since I didn't take it seriously at first. Course consists of quizzes every beginning of the class and to get an A, you have to get perfect scores (out of 8) for almost all of it. My tip: take notes in class, keep up with the readings, and rewatch the lectures.
If you decide to take this class simply because of its social science credit/ethics flag duality, the class is definitely NOT an easy A. The entire class is graded mostly by benchmarks (quizzes) and the questions WERE AMBIGUOUS, meaning it sometimes seemed like multiple answers could be correct (meaning they LOVE to TRICK you).
This class very interactive for an online class. Dr. Harden and Gosling (who co-taught the class) are very good at explaining the concepts, and they make the class interesting as well. Benchmarks are not that difficult to get 8/8 if you really pay attention to the lecture and the readings. Highly recommend rewatching lecture before the benchmark.
PSY301 with Sam and Paige is an online, lecture-based class. Benchmarks are given at the beginning of each class, worth 8 points each (for a total of 276 points, or 76% of your overall course grade.) I recommend rewatching the lectures, taking notes, and reading the assigned articles. An A is definitely possible in this class, just stay prepared.
PSY301 is a very interesting class and is enjoyable. However it is NOT an easy A. It is graded primarily by benchmarks taken in every class. That being said, you HAVE to pay good attention, take detailed notes and thoroughly read every reading assigned, or else you cannot expect a good grade in the class. The benchmark questions are fairly hard too
Take this online course with Professor Hardin & Gosling above any other intro to psychology course at UT! Trust me. All of the UT psychology courses are tricky and tedious, there is no way around it. BUT this online course is your best option, imo. No tests, fun professors, and interesting material. Quizzes are tricky but doable!
NOT an Easy A. Had to rewatch lectures & fully understand the articles to remember the details needed for the benchmarks and even then, some benchmark ?s are so tricky and more subjective than objective. Good class and profs for learning but not if you are looking for an A that needs little to moderate effort. Imo it needs a lot of effort.
I think taking this psychology class is hard. I'm not going to lie to you. The questions for the quizzes suck, and that's your lifeline for this class. I suggest taking it in person with someone else or in the summer with Dr. Angulo when she does it. Don't get me wrong; the class is exciting but is not worth affecting your GPA for it.
This class is hard! There is a pop quiz every week and no exams. The quiz questions are mostly ambiguous, not googleable and you only get 10 minutes. Your entire grade depends on these quizzes. They assign really long papers to read and you are required to participate in research as a test subject to pass. She is really nice but not worth it.
cool class and knows what she is talking about. benchmarks every class 11 mins for 8 questions and is stressful but really interesting. need to read and rewatch lectures. they make the class cool though with little segments to keep everyone interested but the class is really nice. there is a one question quiz at the end of class too
I took online psy with professor harden, pennebaker, and another guy whose name i forget. They were just pre recorded videos from the previous semester, a quiz every class. It's very easy not get an A in the class. The quizzes are abstract and slightly strange. You have to watch the hour long lecture and read wall of text psychology documents. itok
This class is fully online I didn't really interact with any of the professors. The class is graded based on daily quizzes for the most part which can make it difficult if you miss more than a couple of classes. Interesting lectures though!
Surveys, chat rooms, videos, and demos make the lectures fun & engaging. There are two 8-question quizzes per week that cover a few readings and stuff from the previous lecture. Took me about 1 hour a week (30 minutes for each benchmark) to skim through the readings, which are usually interesting. Highly recommend!
I wish I could take this class again! I may be biased but I really enjoyed Paige and Sam's lectures. There are no exams; your grade is mostly determined by the quizzes every class (8 questions, about 10 minutes). It's definitely manageable as long as you read the readings and pay attention during the lectures.
Paige and Sam created a unique learning environment unlike anything I'd ever experienced before and I genuinely will never forget this class. Although it was all online (thanks, COVID-19) I still managed to make close friends through the various opportunities of interaction. Paige is also very easy to reach out to when you need to voice concerns!
This class is formatted with daily quizzes that make up most of the grade. There are readings after every lecture, so it can be a bit of work, but as long as you keep up with it you will be fine. The daily quizzes consist of practical application of concepts rather than direct recall, so if you fully understand the concepts, you will do well.
The class is graded heavily on the benchmarks right before class which you have to get the hang of quick. My grade wasn't the best due to me taking forever to understand the benchmarks so if you can do that the class should be fine for you. There are readings after every class for the benchmarks. Everything is open note.
Loved the format of this class. Paige is very enthusiastic about psychology and is a joy to learn from!
Ctrl+f will be ur best friend in this class, use it. I only did the readings at the beginning then I stopped when I realized this. The lectures are very interesting + relevant. Rewatch the lecture before the benchmarks. I got an A just by rewatching lectures. Class is really fun but not necessarily easy. No extensions at all, so keep up w deadlines
Not gonna lie, I walked in thinking it was going to be an easy A. Boy, I was so wrong. Its definitely easy to score high but not an A. Control F will be your best friend. Make sure to understand the concept and include the examples that they address in your notes. The benchmarks are mostly about applying the concepts especially with examples.
It's a huge class with prerecorded lectures, so sometimes it felt disconnected and the timing was occasionally off (plus one of the assignments was buggy and hard to get fixed because they answered emails slowly), but Dr. Harden was funny and genuine. The quizzes (every lecture) weren't that bad, you just have to put the work in. Take this class!
Dr. Paige Harden is passionate about her work-- and it's clear. The class itself wasn't my favorite, but she was able to make it entertaining. It was definitely a challenge, but after finishing the class, I feel like I learned a lot. Get ready for lots of quizzes (20 something) and heavy reading!
Harden is funny and one of the smartest profs I've ever had. The class is hard to do well in because of the grading scheme. The benchmarks make up almost all of your grade, so you MUST do the readings and pay attention to pass. Almost everyone I know did poorly in this class because of the grading scheme. But, there are no midterms or finals!
These lectures were so fun and enjoyable. It's a truly interesting and worthwhile class to take. Sam and Paige make the subject matter funny at times with skits and pranks. The only reason people don't do well is because they only take it seriously when it's too late to get their grade up. Do the work from the beginning and you'll do just fine.
The Benchmarks seem like they'd be easy but there are some trick questions or perhaps they are just poorly worded. Some cover content that was barely mentioned in the class. You have to read EVERYTHING, take notes on ALL the lectures and memorize some facts.
Provides amazing lectures that will keep you engaged with the course. Very interactive lessons, and engaging topics that will make addicted to the course. Excellent implementation of daily benchmarks (that are easy as long as you are keeping up with readings and lectures). My best course this semester!
Okay, I would say to not take this class unless you have a genuine curiosity to psychology. The grade is made up of 24(ish) benchmarks that are first thing every class. You have to read the readings and understand them fully because every quiz requires you to apply things to real life scenarios. The lectures are fun and engaging though.
I loved PSY301; it made me very self aware and aware of others. BEWARE: do all the readings, take notes, rewatch lectures, and DO NOT SKIP lectures because every class there is an 8 question quiz that you cannot make up later. There is NO extra credit & the grading system is straightforward. TAKE THIS CLASS SERIOUSLY! Harden is an awesome lecturer!
I loved the class, very interesting and engaging. You really really have to do the assignments and watch the class but it's really low commitment, if you pay attention during lecture and read the assigned article before class you'll really be fine. Workload is not much
This class is definitely not an easy A! The class is very interesting, and the lectures were absolutely amazing! The grading system is what makes this class difficult. The grade that you get stays put; no extra credit and no grades will get bumped up. Dr. Harden was very sweet, knowledgeable, and had great insights into the field of Psychology!
I personally loved this class, however, if you are not a psychology major and are looking for an easy class this is probably not the one to take. The benchmarks can be a little difficult and you definitely need to read the articles to do well. I recommend putting together a study group it really helps.
Dr. Harden's class is pretty interesting, but the grading leaves very little room for error. Definitely read the assignments for each day and pay good attention during lecture. There are some pretty fun surveys and things like that throughout the semester, but you do have to pay attention if you want a good grade. She teaches with Prof Sam Gosling.
very nice professor- class is challenging, but doable. there are quizzes every class that make up most of your grade- important to watch the lectures closely and definitely read the accompanying articles. I would rewatch lectures/read articles right before the quizzes so that they would be fresh in my mind
Prof. Harden's PSY301 class was an incredibly well produced web-based class. She and Prof. Gosling really did an incredible job, teaching fundamental elements of psychology while also making the class interesting, fun, and interactive. Benchmarks were a bit stressful, but an A is easily attainable. Highly recommended!
This class gave me actual trauma. 5 credit research hours are required. I cried during every research survey I took because they made me feel so awful about my life. There's a quiz before every class, you only have 11 minutes to answer 8 questions. So much reading, it's not even funny. I read and went to all the lectures and still got bad grades.
to put it simply LOTs of reading but the lecture is interesting. the quizzes at the beginning of every class is hassle along with the long readings. I honestly just watched lectures and skimmed the readings. if u want to get an A reading are a must ig. Hate this class tbh but what u learn makes up for it.
Paige is such an eloquent lecturer and she is very passionate about psychology. She makes the content very straightforward and I found this class to be one of my favorites I have taken. As long as you take notes over reading and the lectures it should be an easy A. No tests but you have a benchmark and one-question "RAS" quiz every class period.
Paige is an amazing person with fascinating lectures but her class is very difficult. She gives amazing lectures but this class is based ENTIRELY on quizzes each lecture that is very specific unless you've done your readings and attended lectures. If you can avoid this class, please do because they are stubborn with their class policies.
Harden and Gosling teach online PSY 301 together. Lectures were very interesting and engaging despite being an online class. I did not find the quizzes hard at all. Take notes during the lectures or look at the transcript, skim the readings, then ctrl F during the open note quizzes and you'll be fine.
This class was very interesting but I think the grading system is very unfair. I got above a 90% based on average but their cutoffs put me at a B+. It just feels unfair to get an A- based on actual calculations and then be given a lower grade. Unfair to students who just want to do well when there is such a large GPA difference between a B+ and A-
The lectures were actually interesting, but the grading system should be improved. You have to take extensive notes, rewatch every lecture multiple times, and REALLY read the readings for each quiz. An A is completely attainable if you put the effort in early on.
I personally did not think this class was very hard. I love psychology so I enjoyed the lectures and material. Your grade is basically only composed of 8 question quizzes every class, but there are drops built in. And sometimes the required articles are long, but the only homework is reading articles before every class.
She co-teaches w/ Gosling online. Easiest class I've ever attended. No midterms or final. Before each lecture, they take benchmark tests, which each have 11 questions. After dropping the lowest 4 benchmarks you calculate your grade + participation points. Don't let benchmarks scare you they were easy def take the class
Took the class over the summer and was super easy. I got by with just taking notes over the lectures for the benchmarks.
Every time someone drops this class, an angel gets its wings.
The lectures were very engaging and explored a plethora of interesting topics. However, the majority of your grade depends on these 8-question benchmarks that consist of these questions where the answers can often be very ambiguous.
Great professor and was so inclusive. My favorite professor so far. We would take benchmarks but if you did the readings and watched the lectures they were easy. Would highly recommend
Be prepared to read a lot, and take notes during lectures or at least look at transcripts. As advice, dont worry about in-depth reading TOO much, bc it gets to be a lot otherwise, but use ctrl F and have a general/good understanding. Def beware that the benchmark/quizzes become more lecture-heavy as semester goes by than reading focused.
I love Psy301! Now, I have to admit, this class does require you to write notes a plenty, but as long as you do that and study responsibly, the class itself is not difficult. It can be somewhat difficult to multi-task between writing notes and listening to the lecture, since it all goes by so fast, but the lecture itself is extremely engaging!
This class was easy with fun lectures but boring and long readings after every class. Benchmarks get a lot easier over time if you make sure to pay attention during the lecture. Clear grading requirements but make sure you don't forget about the writing assignments and research requirements or you have to write a paper.
I had a 79.81 and it counted as a c not a c+ and it's currently ruining my gpa. the teacher is fine but the structure of this class is awful and i would never take it again. I had an 82 before and it counted as a c+. i hate the structure and grading in this class. would not recommend.
I loved PSY301 with Dr. Harden and Dr. Gosling! There are no midterms or finals, rather, your grade is primarily based on an 8 question benchmark at the beginning of each lecture. There are also 4 writing assignments and a research requirement. Getting an A is definitely doable if you pay attention during lectures and finish the assigned readings.
Unique grading/testing style: most of final grade is from biweekly quizzes in class. Really easy if you pay attention and understand the material. Lectures are very interesting and engaging, which makes the online format easier. I LOVE Dr. Harden -- she's so nice in office hours and genuinely cares about her students!
Dr. Harden & Dr. Gosling both host PSY301 together in a very organized structure. There are outlines for the material covered in class lectures that you can base your notes on. Dr. Harden was very clear and knowledgeable, and I found myself always 100% engaged during lectures. I had the in-person class and I will genuinely miss the class.
Didn't mind Benchmarks each class cause they meant no actual exams or final. Would recommend doing first 3 weeks of taking notes on readings (conceptual not factual). If you take good lecture notes, you can get a 7 or 8 on benchmarks just by using those and "control-f" readings for information. Other grades are easy. Finish SONA at beginning.
PSY301 was probably my favorite class this semester. It involves a lot of reading, but as long as you pay attention to lectures and have a basic understanding, you will be fine on benchmarks (can be tricky). The classes are engaging, and Dr. Hardin and Dr. Gosling do a great job teaching. I've never taken psych before and this was a good intro.
I would recommend taking this class over a full semester. I took this over a single session in the summer and I think the only way I could have made an A is if I dedicated a couple hours every single day to the class, which I was not able to do. You can do well in exams by watching all lectures and taking notes if needed.
I took this class online. As long as you watch the lectures and take notes on the readings, you will be fine. The "benchmarks" for every class were not that bad, the lowest I got was a 6/8 and I am not a psych major. Some lectures were boring but it's fine. I recommend the online course to anyone interested in psychology.
new material covered every day. try to take notes (they talk extremely fast and use words not even Albert Einstein knows) + read long af readings. extra commitments, and a stressful final assignment. strange grading system. never knew grade the entire time until finals when to late to do anything. class was frustrating, i dont blame the professors.
Professor never available to students. Impossible grading system.
Lots of reading and dense lectures, but if you pay attention it works out. I have never gotten below a 6/8 on the daily quizzes because I read through the readings the night before. Super interesting class. It feels more like watching a TV show than being in class.
The benchmarks will make or break your grade, but there's no final exam. what bothered me is that the professors are virtually impossible to reach, and all the lectures are pre-recorded. It isn't a terrible class, but it's not worth $1500. Take it at a community college, or when it's discounted over the summer
I was excited to take college Psychology but after this class, I wouldn't do it again. The benchmarks will tank your grade quickly and the grade shown in Canvas is not your actual grade as they have their own point system. No extra credit and lectures are repetitive and rarely engaging. The overall class wasn't what I expected ..an overall no.
Paige is great! Her course with Dr. Gosling was my favorite class. They never failed to keep you interested and entertained. Your grade really just depends on how you do on the benchmarks. They drop the four lowest benchmark grades and the four lowest post-class questions. Don't let any reviews scare you, do the readings, and you're good.
Would not take this class again or recommend it to a friend. Should have waited to take in-person PSY301. Lectures are pre-recorded and leave you feeling completely disconnected from professors and widely disconnected from classmates (except during chat times). Grade based mainly on daily quizzes. Never thought I'd see the day I wished for exams.
I personally really enjoyed this class, the lectures were funny and entertaining. You only had to take an 8 question open note quiz e/ class. I recommend rewatching the lectures & taking notes & skimming over the readings. I had chem 302, bio 311D, H S 301, all right before psych and I was fine.
This class is very easy - the benchmarks are basically controlling f through lecture notes or readings. the content is taught in a very slow manner to the point where I was zoning out in class. some of the activities were quite unnecessary however some lectures were on the more interesting side
My easiest class of the semester. I was a bit wary taking it as I've heard bad things about it, but it really isn't what people made it to be. Just make sure to take good notes in class and understand the readings (to the point where you can apply it to other situations). The content was also pretty interesting to learn as well.
The daily benchmarks had lots of bad questions. Some answers were extremely similar and the lectures/readings did not go into enough detail to allow us to differentiate between right and wrong answers. In addition, a lot of the questions asked about random, specific things that were not reflective of the main idea in the readings/lecture.
This was a good course for psychology. The lectures can get boring at times. I really enjoyed how the course was structured.
Class was relatively easy as long as you do the readings assigned. Questions came straight from the readings and parts of the lecture and were application based. I've never gotten below a 6/8 and they drop your 4 lowest quizzes. An easy A as long as you do your work.
Amazing teacher. Makes lectures as interesting as possible. Highly reccommend
Doing the readings and attentding lectures is important in order to pass the benchmark tests. Loved sam and piage and will always continue to recommend them. My most entertaining online class yet. They go beyond and above and keep you interested in watching
Very entertaining and easy! There are quizzes at the beginning of every lecture, but they are super easy if you attended the lecture before and read the outside readings! I don't think taking notes is necessary for this class. Well-structured, fun, and engaging
The professor herself is fine it's the class structure that's the issue. It's hard to get an A without getting a perfect score on almost every quiz that you take every class. Make sure to rewatch the lectures and read the required readings. This class was very interesting and I did learn a lot.
Dr Paige's online psychology course is amazing and hilarious!! They try to keep lectures like a tv show style and the daily quizzes are simple recall from lecture and readings so not that bad, you technically only need seven 8/8s and fourteen 7/8s on the quizzes to get an A in class and they also drop four lowest quiz grades.
Paige is an amazing lecturer along with Sam and they made really engaging and interesting psych lectures. The grade depends almost entirely on daily quizzes and a lot of the answers are only found in the lectures, so you really have to pay attention. As long as you basically just pay attention and follow deadlines it will be a really fun class.
Loved Sam and Paige's class! Really interesting material covered and readings weren't too bad. The only thing that was annoying was benchmarks...I had a hard time getting a perfect score on any of them. But a great experience overall! Being in the live studio audience is so much fun
This class was really interesting and fun! The only grades were a daily benchmark (8 questions, open-notes), an end-of-class quiz (1 question), and a few writing assignments throughout the semester (really easy, graded instantly after submission). The benchmarks were incredibly easy just read the articles, take notes, and rewatch lectures. Easy A
This class is amazing for people wanting to take a psych class. The online format is great and they do an amazing job at making the lectures interesting and easy to follow. Some of the readings are extremely dense and confusing but if you pay attention in class and do the readings right after that helps a lot. Great professors!
Only thing you gotta worry about are daily quizzes/benchmarks that make up the majority of the grade. I'd rewatch the lectures the day before class since most benchmark questions are small details brought up in the lecture or readings. I never read the readings but Ctrl + Find the sections of the readings that the quiz questions were referring to
Sam and Paige tried to make the class fun and interactive, but after a while it got boring and repetitive. Quiz assignments at the beginning of each class were annoying and could have very niche and poorly worded questions that felt subjective. Felt disconnected and frustrated sometimes despite their efforts to make it engaging
I would not take online psychology again. I found the lectures very eh, and the benchmarks were sometimes not even based on the lectures. I liked how you could have the readings up during benchmarks; however, you have to read the readings in depth and be a master in 2 days. If you want to do good, actually pay attention and take notes (it's hard).
I took PSY F301 over the summer and it was one of the best choices. The lectures are honestly so engaging so it's not that hard to keep up with the content. Exams work on open notes so just take good notes and listen to the lectures and you'll do fine. Amazing class! I actually learned so much !
Do not take this class bruh. The benchmarks are worth most of your grade and are quite difficult— the questions often aren't from the lectures or readings. Lots of reading for this class too. The lectures aren't very in depth either, and most of the actual learning is left to the readings. Save your gpa
This class was taught by Dr. Gosling and Harden. The lectures were very entertaining and fun to watch. The benchmarks were straightforward - take notes on the lectures and type as you go and skim the readings. The lectures sometimes weaned off of the topic for the day and the research requirement was a little annoying.
This professor taught online Psych with Gosling and those two are amazing! If I could take this class again I would. This is such an amazing class to take for an easy core credit and was so much fun to learn. They make the online lectures easy. Benchmarks at beginning of class are straight forward, just pay attention and take rough notes. Loved it!
Engaging lectures, open-note exams, and helpful study tools like Unstuckstudy made this class a great choice. The benchmarks require attentive note-taking, but overall a solid learning experience.
Great overview of psychology.
Professor Hardin is so sweet and PSY301 is fun and easy. Make sure to be present for lectures and take notes.
I would try to take this class at a community college. The lectures are useless and they don't teach the concepts well. Almost 80% of your grade is based on a 8 question quiz at the beginning of each lecture. You need to get a perfect score on most of them if you want an A. Readings are dense. I was excited for this class and was disappointed.
I just dont agree with a lot of her points of view in life. I understand that everyone has a different experience. I kinda feel like she just trying too hard to make students believe like hers.
easy A but all the negative reviews are right. I would skip class, only complete the benchmark, and set an alarm for the RAS. after class i'd watch the lecture at 2x and take notes on every word. many questions were contradicted in the reading, so i contested them (form in syllabus). profs are rude/unforgiving when their own questions are wrong.
Lectures are pretty fun and engaging! The benchmarks are tough (80% of grade), and I found that I had to rewatch every lecture and read the readings twice in order to do well on the benchmarks. Other than the benchmarks, the class was chill and I enjoyed how the lectures were broken up into segments (held my attention well). Would recommend!
negative reviews are being dramatic. if you pay attention during lectures (not even taking notes, just listening) and skim the readings, you will do fine in benchmarks. four of them are dropped, as well. the 5-hour research requirement is also very doable. if you put in the effort, an A is easily achievable. if not, then that's on you.
Ok course, just pay attention and take notes.
Psychology was fun and interesting! Online course, good semester!
This class was honestly so light. Can skim the readings or honestly just Control F through for benchmarks, and benchmarks (quizzes every class) are open note and open internet. Lectures are also super interesting and easy to follow. I was terrified that the benchmarks would be too hard but they are super reasonable, overall very chill class.
This is the greatest course I have ever taken fr. Lowk makes me want to major in Psych. Just pay attention in class, they are very engaging and informative in lectures and just having a good time in general. Exams are going to be lecture and readings heavy though, so take notes. Recommend the online version for sure.
Grade was essentially solely dependent on the quizzes you take before and after the lectures. Some of the questions were genuinely subjective or had very similar answer choices, which was extremely frustrating. Lectures were very engaging and fascinating though.
i loved this class it was so fun and silly!! you never interact with the professors but they seemed great, the lectures were fun and engaging and covered a lot of genuinely interesting stuff. grading is SO EASY. Open note everything, 'essays' are graded based on submission only. There's a decent amount of readings but nothing crazy. I loved it
Extremely easy, one open-note benchmark quiz per class determines the majority of your grade. The course is interesting and engaging, but sleep is more interesting and engaging, so that's what I did during the lectures.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! The environment felt so overwhelmingly dismissive and harmful, esp for minority students. Sensitive topics were handled so inappropriately and unprofessionally. As a disabled senior, tough academic settings are expected, but this professor refuses to see the impact their language has on students.
clearly could not care less about het students or how they feel, if you are fine with ignoring everything a professor says just to get the credit its a pretty easy class, but overall an absolutely crude painfully uneducated professor.
this woman said she loves mormons and doesn't understand why white racism is ignored??? IN CLASS?????? we also had a poll about which students are virgins? like yall this is college please stop using us as ur guinea pigs???
Great professor and class, lectures were entertaining and engaging, make sure to do the readings and pay attention during lecture
People in the reviews are overly offended. There were Instapols about personal stuff, but they were completely optional. Professors are fun and engaging, and you don't actually have to do the reading. i enjoyed the course and it was an easy A. It's college. Grow up.
Low stress class, you don't even have to do the readings because the benchmarks are open note. Just use ctrl f. No exams which make it easy to just watch the lectures. Really enjoyed it as someone who doesn't even need it for my degree. Lectures are fun and mostly entertaining. Sometimes there were widespread tech issues but they were understanding
The class is very well-organized and lectures are engaging. It's incredibly easy to get an A as long as you pay attention. You have to attend almost every lecture because the quizzes (benchmarks) at the beginning of each class make up your grade, but they are open-note and the lowest four are dropped. Super fun class!
