Really cares about students learning. Expects students to take responsibility for their learning but is very supportive.
ENTHUSIASTIC. CARES ABOUT STUDENTS. DEMANDS ALOT FROM STUDENTS BUT GIVES ALOT HERSELF.
Horrible teacher!!! she does NOT know how to teach...I ended up with an A in the class, but honestly I had to bust my butt to get that. Half of the class dropped out before the 2nd test. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
AMAZING TEACHER! Best teacher I have ever had! Don't listen to that other review. The only reason everyone dropped out is because they were all to lazy to do their freaking work. She is such a good teacher. you have to go to class and pay attention of course, ..its college. shes so helpful and wants to make sure everyone does well. she knows it all
Don't take Paige, she does not teach. You will spend more hours in the accounting lab than any other teacher. She reads off a power point the entire class. Who can learn accting like that?
This class was beyond rediculus. I ended up spending many hours in the lab and teaching myself everything. Paige would say "ask your neighbor" when you had questions. Come to think of it, I don't even know why she needed to be present in the class.
She did a lot to help students understand. She went out of her way to get students in her office to help with questions if needed. This class takes a lot of work to do homework and tests but there is no other way to learn the material if you dont do the homework practically. She is a good teacher... the subject is hard but if you try she will help
Paige is a pretty good teacher, though her style of teaching was a little hard for me to get in sync with. She does make class fun and casual, never missing the friday song, and keeping an open discussion. Paige is fair and approachable, willing to help. I would recommend her to anyone who is looking into accounting classes.
Paige did a good job keeping my interest in the class, singing the Friday song & such. She seemed to be genuinely interested in my success. Test questions are often poorly worded and she will not let you review tests unless you go to her office on your own time. Not the best, but far from the worst.
She is an amazing teacher and does her best to keep your attention on the subject and tries to make sure you understand it! Of course there is the Friday song that everyone has heard about. It made class a little less stressful! Recommending to take! She's great!
Your better of taking an internet class. She just uses power points to teach that are available online. Tests questions are misleading. The in class review for the final was just going over frequently missed tests questions, with no preparation of what to expect. Final test was unrealistic given the time frame. 7-10+ hours homework a week.
Page is cool. She fun in class, but she get off topic too much. The test are easy if you study the material. Pretty easy A.
taking her online course, she seems like a good teacher. accounting to me has always been hard, I hope I pass this class.
I love paige shes the best ever, she sooooo helpful take her 2015 workshop for extra help. shes strict on the work but if you tell her in advance you cant take something till another time she almost ALWAYS keeps it open for you. if you want account you gotta go paulsen
I took Paige's Acct Lab class, she was amazingly helpful! She took extra time to help me find more useful materials to help me understand Acct. Most teachers use PowerPoint for their lessons, just need to learn to adapt to that. She never rushed us out the door after class, always took extra time with those of us that needed it, & very informative!
My grade reflects the effort I put into this class not Paige's teaching ability. She was very upbeat in class which helped keep me awake after working all night. She did everything she could to help us learn and understand the material. If only she could have taken my tests for me...
I took this class as an online class. Teacher was willing to answer questions in a timely way on canvas. She was reasonable with issues and communicated well using online tools. I think she did a very good job with a hard online subject.
Paige is knowledgeable and willing to work with the students to get the most out of her class.
I really didn't like Paige when the class started. I dreaded each class. After a few weeks it became one of my favorites. She really pushes students to do well and put in the time and effort. Some students will love her, others won't. I wish I could take her with me to the U.
The class was based on online tutorials and inclass group homework help. She had pre and post testing on each chapter. At the end she ask for financial statement paper. overall, I really enjoyed her class, She is always happy and helpfull.
I was taking online course the whole semester, she was really trying to keep everybody on the track, I am not very self motivated student without her efforts I could not have done this. I wish I can take her live class one day.
Paige is one of the most caring professors I've ever had. She spends lots of time going over problems and actually helping us do the homework.
I had to spend as much time on this class as my math class. Bummer. But, between my hard work and Paige's bending over backwards to help me and the other students I got an A- Yea!!!
She definitely knows her field and will go over things more then once if you don't understand. This was a workshop for 2010 but she made sure she answered all of our questions.
Amazing teacher. Ready to help us all the time. Easy to reach if we have any questions.
Paige is the worst teacher I've ever had she didn't care whether or not you understood accounting and every time you I had a question she would say to ask the neighbor I literally spent my time reading the book over and over before I understood anything.
Things were looking good for me in this class. All my work was turned in and everything. Paige provided a final study page that we could use during the final. Not 1 question that was on the study guide was on the actual final. Therefore I did not pass the final with at least 50%. I don't think that's right to do to students.
ok teacher. not the best online teacher i've had at responding. did not use her tutorials. read the book, did HW & QZ, took test through WileyPlus. Even if you don't use her tutorials throughout the chapters be sure to use her review vids for the final. i made my cheat sheet for the final off of watching every single one and did well.
This class was beyond hard. Do not take during the summer! I failed the final because the prof. instructed to watch her videos as a review and I based my notes off at that, sad to say I failed because of it. I had an A in the class but if you do not pass the final with more that 50% you fail, ugh! Weekly quizzes and test every other week..stressful
This is a hard class. It is payroll and QuickBooks combined into one semester. There is a lot of homework, but it well worth it. Paige made videos for and sent them to us to watch. She was extremely helpful and makes the effort to make sure that you understand the material.
this class is very hard
Paige is not my favorite teacher. She is a very nice lady but just not a good teacher. She does very little teaching and has a hard time with answering questions. I did enjoy the course however and recommend learning quickbooks to anyone.
Paige rocks. She is very helpful and is available to help in many manners like online, class, office. She will make you earn your grade though which is not a bad thing as you come out of class with really great knowledge. I would highly recomend her if you want to learn
Paige is awesome and makes you think about the answers instead of giving them too you. I will take her for all my accounting classes
Paige is awesome and makes you think about the answers instead of giving them too you. I will take her for all my accounting classes. This was a tough class but the knowledge I learned from Paige was top notch.
Awesome teacher. Loved her flipped- classroom. Great teaching style. She made me want to learn the material.
She was a fun lady. She will go to great lengths to help students understand material. I think she takes it personally if you miss class, which she makes you feel awkward about. She really pushes the flipped classroom style. Class was alright, i'd probably take it from her again.
Very helpful for online students, I usually always received an e-mail reply within 24 hours. She offers weekly FAQ's which are also very helpful, and wants you to do well! Would definitely take her class again, especially if taking online.
Online class was organized and material was relevant. She gave extra help when things were not completely clear on the online website.
I took this class online during the summer, so short semester. It is Quickbooks and payroll accounting in 11 weeks. Tough class but I got a A-. She responds quickly to questions and helps you understand assignments. Lots of information in little time, but I learned a lot. I would take a class from her again.
I really enjoyed Paige. I took 2 classes with her and she is very personable and very informative. She was consistently keeping in contact with new information or Q & A's that might help.
great teacher, help a lot, and make her class super interesant.
Paige is one of the most helpful teachers I've had. She went out of her way to explain each concept in a way that I could understand. Sometimes this meant that she would need to explain the same thing three different ways. Despite this she always covered the material in her lectures and left extra time at the end to review.
Paige is a very nice lady, always willing to help the student. She responds emails very quickly. The subject is not easy, but she gives tons of resources to help you prepare the classes. Of course, you have to study and do all your homework, but if you do your part, she will be there to help.
Professor Paulsen is a very nice lady, always in a good mood!. She likes students to ask questions, and she is willing to help. Students matter to her. She offers tons of very helpful resources and materials, and always answers emails very quickly. The subject is not easy, meaning that you have to do your work, study and practice.
I took this class online. The only face to face time i got with this teacher was during the review for the final. I have to say i got more confused. She was trying to fit too many topics in too little and going from a topic to another too fast that people couldn't follow.
Wonderful teacher. The course was hard and you have to stay on top of the work, but she will clarify any questions. I also took the lab supplement and that was a life-saver! I would highly recommend Paige and will be taking her for more courses.
Great class! Learning Accounting in 8 weeks is tough but Professor Paulsen was always there and always gave tips to help with material and answered questions quickly with helpful feedback.
Paige does know a lot about what she's talking about but when it comes to the little assignments such as her Wall Street Journals and end of term paper, she will give you very harsh critics on what you've written, and it can come off as rude.
This course was taken online, and it was only a half semester so it was extremely challenging that way. But Paige was extremely helpful. She was so nice and made sure that everyone was on the same page. The material itself was actually pretty difficult, but Paige is the most helpful teacher I have ever had.
Online class, subject wise, (Payroll & QuickBooks) was the easiest class I have ever taken, but I really hated class overall because it was a trial & error of what, where, and how to do the homework. Also, Payroll bk had numerous errors & the corrections always came at the last hour, after 3 hours of homework was already submitted. .
Paige was a really awesome teacher I took her for spring 2016. There is a lot of homework but it helps to understand it better. All the assignments are online except for the final. Its all open book. She gives extra credit for coming to class. She also drops 3 of your lowest scores. She is really nice and outgoing.
Exelent professor and keeps you up-to-date with information to help you learn the material. She is demanding but worth it. Thanks for your teaching
She is very responsive to questions and tries to anticipate problems. She actually reads your assignments and gives good feedback. I felt like she really wanted me to succeed in class.
Very unclear when assignments were due. It said one thing on syllabus and other on MAL. When it came to WSJ summary, even if you double check for grammar errors she makes you feel that you are stupid and not clearly state where the problem was even though the paper read well. Doesn't answer emails leaving students very confused.
So. Much. Homework. I'm a fast learner and efficient in my studies. I spent no less than 12 hours per week pulling off my A. Hard class to get an A in. Not hard to get a B, but if you want that A, you've got to do every little thing and do it well.
Each chapter has a homework assignment, pretest, post test and test. The pretests are just to make sure you read the chapter. The post tests are nice because they prepare you for the test. I love how excited the teacher gets about accounting. It makes the subjects even more exciting. Class isn't mandatory, but extra credit is offered if you do go.
She is very ticky-tacky with grading written assignments. Large deductions for certain things. Lots and lots of homework, I took the 8-week course and averaged about 10 hours of homework a week on top of 1-2hours of lecture. Gives quick e-mail response, willing to work with you on late work etc. Good professor.
She assigns tons of homework, but doing it all really helps & is necessary to learn the material & get a good grade. She has a clear syllabus of the assignments that are due. I loved taking this class from Paige, she really helped the material to click and she is an excellent teacher, I'm definitely taking the next accounting course from her.
Online Lecture impossible to understand. She is not very kind.
The course is very easy to navigate with very clear grading criteria. She always replies to emails/questions in a very timely manner. She offers extra credit, about 2-3% of overall grade. She had clear deadlines with very little busy work. The exams follow very closely with the homework so as long as you do it you'll do fine.
Lots of homework, doing all the homework really is what makes you learn the material, so it's for your own good. She answers questions good in a way you understand. She was great at grading regularly & answering emails quickly. This was the second class I took from her&if she taught the next level I would take her again. You do have to work though.
Although the work load for accounting 1120 is heavy and requires a lot of study/homework time in order to do well, professor Paige made me feel like she was there for me and helped guide me in the right direction. Through feedback provided every single week, personally administered to me, helped me do the best possible job I could do in the course.
Accounting is what it is... busy work. Professor Paulsen does her best to get you through the material. She seems to be really passionate about teaching and her students' well being. It's refreshing to sit in the classroom of someone who actually gives a hoot. PS you don't have to come to class, but it is extra credit so it really helps to.
Accounting isn't the easiest subject, so don't expect that it will be easy. She is a great teacher to have for a hard class though. She is hilarious and won't leave you behind. She will help you understand everything you need to know and in the funnest way possible. She also brings candy on test review days. Would take this class again.
Paige is a great professor! She is very good at giving different examples and making sure you understand the material. I highly recommend her!
Great teacher, just don't take the hybrid class. Not enough class time to really get the information needed.
Amazing ( carrying, helpful & kind) instructor. I highly recommend her!
Professor Paulsen is great to work with, she explains things very clearly. There is a lot of HW and so many tests: Syllabus Test, PRE-Test, Test, and a POST-Test (I know!). Other than that, she is fair and will work with you on issues. The grading is commensurate with the work you do. :)
About to graduate from SLCC so I've been threw some sub-para teachers. Paige however is excellent. I really mean excellent. I would love to take another class from her. If i was a professor I would consider her as mentor.
homework can take hours. You don't have to go to class unless you have questions about assignments because she takes the class time to go over questions from homework. She replies fairly quick to emails.
Professor Paulsen was straightforward and set me up to succeed from the beginning. She had everything laid out with reasonable pacing. I felt as though I had enough time to absorb all of the information given. She filled in gaps that the textbook left. She also gave me resources to help further my degree and career outside of the classroom.
Paige is a very good teacher. I respect her knowledge. DO NOT get behind, it is tough to catch up. She is very caring and understanding. She is quick to answer emails. She sets you up for success. Great teacher, and I highly recommend her.
Paige is great! Ive taken 2 online classes from her. She keeeps in contact well and lets you know whats going on weekly. Ive enjoyed her classes.
I loved taking a class from her! Everything was so straight forward. No group projects (those are always hard with an online course), everything was communicated easily on the class page and via email, she was quick to respond to any message. There is a medium amount of work with this class. It isn't super difficult work either!
I took Paige in my ACCT 1120 class and now in ACCT 2020 and I'm grateful I did. She is a great teacher and will respond to your questions in a timely manner. Accounting is rough as it is and she'll help understand the concepts and take time out of her day to help you. She adjusts 2% of your grade to the MyAccountingLab errors. Highly recommend her.
Paige is a great teacher and very worried about the student success in class. Communicate with her and you will have success. Passing her class depends only on the student commitment to the class. I have an extremely busy schedule as a mom and working two jobs and going to school. Paige worked very well with me during the semester. She is great.
Good teacher, will take again.
I'm majoring in accounting, and Paige is an absolute legend! Any questions you have, she will not only answer, but go into detail about how and why it works that way, giving you a better knowledge of the subject as a whole.
I enjoyed this class. Professor Paulsen kept us informed and was always reaching out with ways to maintain a high grade in her class. There were no chats or required posts that took away from the actual assignments, which I liked. She was very clear and there was no confusion with any information she gave. I would highly recommend her class!
Paige is really nice and willing to help you learn. She wants you to be successful. She is very scatterbrained and sometimes she tells you the wrong thing. This is a flipped class, you watch videos to learn the material on your own time and then you spend class time on problems and examples. She gives quite a bit of extra credit, take advantage.
Professor Paulson cares about her students' learning, and spends extra time engaging online. You need to show investment in the curriculum, but she goes the extra mile to address any subject matter she feels could've been explained more thoroughly in the text book.
I have taken two online courses from Paulsen. Both have been excellent courses. Being online the course are more independent but Paulsen keeps you updated and is always there for help. Paulsen is an excellent teacher. The course itself has a fair amount of work but the amount is needed to get a good understanding of the concepts.
Prof Paulsen sent regular weekly updates on coming assignments, and responded within a day or so to emails. Grades were promptly updated all semester, and weekly extra credit was offered as an incentive to submit work by the due date. She also sent suggestions to the whole class if she was asked questions that would be applicable to everyone.
Professor Paulsen class is requires some work but it is an accounting class so you should expect this. The accounting department at SLCC has gone out of their way to make sure students have the information available to succeed in this class. Paulsen always responds to emails and gives great feedback and encouragement.
Professor Paulsen has a very well-structured online course. Each week is the same so you know exactly what is expected of you. Because this is an online course expect to read and learn from the textbook. She does include helpful videos as well. 4 or 5 unit exams taken online and one comprehensive final. Very doable!
She really takes the time to help you understand the concept in this course. And will work with you even if you are taking an online course.
Lots of work, but is expected to be an accounting class. Paige does help her students a lot. She does a "flip" classroom teaching method which it's not for everyone. Overall she knows her material really well and she will help you understand it.
Paige is amazing. I do not enjoy accounting, but she made it easy to learn and cares about her students doing well. I have taken several classes from her, online and lecture, and I would totally recommend taking any accounting classes from her.
I took the class online it was set up so easy to follow. You must keep up and get assignments done early or by the due date. She was always responsive to my questions timely and I was able to understand her feedback.
I have taken several online classes and this class was the most well organized online class. There are many different formats for learning the material, but still read the book. I did have an issue with an assignment not grading right and Paige had a hard time responding, but in person she is awesome and there are many extra credit opportunities.
Paige is very helpful and wants everyone to pass the class. I enjoyed her as a teacher.
She is really a down to earth professor. The course is straightforward and less homework. Want to earn extra credits? Easy! You can get extra points weekly by turning in your assignments on time. Want to pass this class? No problem! Just do the final chapter reviews 7 chapters and practice the statements of cash flows announcement. Guaranteed!
This semester was extra brutal cuz Covid. She wasn't very helpful. She graded the end of the semester project brutally and didn't leave comments on what she would have preferred. The average grade for that paper was 25 out of 52! Part 1 of the fin analysis project was so dumb. It was 52 questions of busy work. She's all over the place in her videos
The online course videos are very dry and uninformative. I don't feel like I learned anything from her videos, I had to resort to looking things up on google and also use the textbook videos just to figure out the class work. Also the homework calculations didn't always match what was taught.
I've had Paige for two semesters of online accounting. At SLCC most online ACCT courses are already set up for the professor. So no matter which professor you get, the course will be pretty much the same. Paige gives extra credit for ontime work, lets you retake exams, and is understandable. It's a hard class, put in the time and you'll be fine!
I took ACCT 2010 and 2020 from Paige online. Class is very straight forward and the modules are easy to follow. The modules do take some time but that is to be expected from an accounting course. She sends reminder emails each week of what is due on Monday and if you have everything done on time each week she gives extra credit points.
Miss Paige is an alright professor. If you are looking to just get through this course with a passing grade, she will do well. However, she is not always the kindest professor and can be passive agressive at times, which for me took away a lot of my learning capabilities.
She was one of the coolest professors at the SLCC. She was always there for you. A lot of homework they were due every Sunday or Monday. You would have plenty of time to do it (extra credits for turning in before the due dates). Plus, you would have second chances to retake unit exams. You know the testing centers have not opened yet, wink!
Paige is a great professor. She replies to all messages in a timely manner, and answers all questions you may have. There is a lot of assignments, so make sure you are responsible, but other than that this was a great course with a fantastic teacher. I would definitely recommend taking Accounting 2010 with Paige Poulsen.
Horrible "professor" I was very disappointed in the way she grades, grades on personal agenda rather than following the rubric. I did not expect such poor grading from some professor. SLCC needs to step up their game.
Learning accounting systems isn't the easiest but I think she did a good job and was quick with responding any questions that I had. I was not able to watch the zoom lectures because of my work schedule and she worked with me so I could still get the information I needed to know.
The course itself is pretty universal across all professors so it is hard to get to know the professor in these online courses. My favorite part about her course was the extra credit for on time work rather than a late penalty. Positive reinforcement! No other professor I've had does this but I really appreciated that!
Professor Paige is one of the best teachers I have had. She's very patient with everyone in the class and made a great effort to remember names and get to know each of her students. She was very clear on what would be on the exams and gave us every resource to do our best. 10/10 would take her again. She gives you an opportunity to retake any exam!
She was an amazing teacher and always cared about her student's success. She was very understanding. Honestly, the only way you won't pass this class is if you don't do anything. But even then she allows you do to all of the assignments up until the end of the semester. But if you do it on time she gives you extra credit. I have over a 99% love it
When I say lots of homework, it is a good thing. It is a manageable amount and the assignments are not overbearing. She has structured her Accounting 2020 course to learn through practicing the teaching. The textbook was less helpful than the videos for myself, however that isn't course specific. My other accounting courses had effective videos
I have taken multiple classes from Prof. Paulsen and have enjoyed them all. Yes, they may be challenging but I do not expect any less from an accounting course. When I have questions she answers them very quickly and straight to the point. There was no interaction between us personally but she made a solid online class.
Overall enjoyed her class. She definitely has a different way of teaching that took some getting used to. For example she is a little textbook heavy and has you do pre tests before learning the subject. I found this helpful in the end, but annoying in the beginning. You can tell she cares and won't leave anyone behind.
Professor Paulsen is a great teacher. Her videos she includes are very helpful. She also responds in a timely manner. As long as you do the assignments you'll do fine, there are a lot so stay ahead! Another great thing, is that if you finish before the deadline you can earn a couple of extra credit points!
Took acct2020 and she expected you to teach yourself with the textbook and just does problems in class doesnt actually explain much. She also goes super fast and doesnt really care if you keep up. You do get extra credit for doing the pre chapter tests, and for attendance. Everything is on Pearson, I had to use that to learn everything.
Miss Paige is a great teacher. She is always quick to get back to questions over email and is thorough with her answer. My online course was set up very efficiently. It was easy to navigate and I thought that the resources provided between the book, Miss Paige's videos, and various other sources made learning the concepts easy.
she is one of the best professors in the accounting field. I believe and still think accounting is hard but she made it easy to understand. thanks Ms. paige
I took this online. Professor Paulsen was great. She provided good feedback and offers extra credit if you complete all assignments on time each week. She was always quick to respond and grade work. Her modules were also very well organized in Canvas, which was much appreciated. Textbook readings and video lectures are a must for the class.
Accounting is a difficult subject for me. This was a fully online class with no lectures, but there were a lot of resources given through Canvas. She was very communicative and used real world references to make the content seem more relatable and less difficult to understand. I would definitely recommend taking her class.
I recommend Paige because she allows late work, the course is organized and straight forward, there is great communication with her, and I felt really prepared for the final exam, which is crucial to passing the course. Tips: Read/take notes and do the sample questions! It makes the homework much easier and prepares you for the chapter tests.
Overall awesome class. It was difficult and the amount of homework did seem over the top, but you will learn the subject, so it makes it worth it. Last exam is in person and is somewhat difficult, but if you study and do the practice assignments this class is an easy A.
I took this class in person and she made sure you understood the subject, honestly if you do all the homework and attend class regularly it's an easy A. Obviously accounting is a hard subject so you have to do the assignments and go to class to fully grasp the subject. She made it easy to understand.
Accounting can be tricky, but Paige makes it manageable. Stay on top of the assignments and utilize resources like unstuck study - it really helps with study prep.
