Try to avoid her if you can, does not explain concepts clearly, messy notes and speeds through lecture doing problems but never actually teaching
Dr. Goyal seems nice enough, I feel bad saying this, however it needs to be said. She rushes through the important parts of her lectures, and overcomplicates simple material such as the algebra involved in an equation. Her writing is often messy and unreadable, and multiple times she has contradicted herself in front of the class.
Dr. Goyal is a nice professor, however, as a first-year student, I have difficulty fully grasping the concepts she teaches, as her pace is quite fast. Her notes are hard to follow as they can get messy and hard to read. Furthermore, she tries to oversimplify her explanation with the maths component, which is even more confusing.
Very cool teacher with easy class
Cant understand, doesnt explain well.
Not good at explaining, terrible demonstration, thick accent, hard to understand, first ever class taught
bro i literally couldn't understand her at all. she had to stop taking questions during class because everyone was so confused that they would ask questions every 5 seconds. her assignment questions are unclear and not related to lecture material. would give 0 out of 5 if i could. she's very nice but i couldn't understand her for the life of me.
She is very kind but she does not know how to teach. Her notes are unclear and hard to follow and she sucks at explaining.
Palak Goyal seems like a nice enough professor but she struggles to teach complicated concepts clearly. She'll often take little time on complicated concepts and a lot on simple ones. Most of her notes are very hard to follow and her explanations are too.
She's contradicted her own teaching and explanation so many times and does not clearly answer student's questions. The homework she gives are easy but it has nothing related to what she has taught in class and wont help you in preparing for tests or quizzes I fear. Her writing is messy, illegible and all over the place. She has a thick accent too.
Dr. Goyal is an outstanding professor who made physics accessible and enjoyable for me (no physics background). Her ability to simplify complex concepts helped me overcome my initial anxiety. She's incredibly supportive, staying after class and responding quickly to my emails, creating an inclusive and positive learning environment.
Cant read writing at all. Handwriting on everything so good luck. Heavy accent so spending half the time decoding what she said. AVOID HER. Aside from writing and accent doesn't teach/explain anything and expects you to know previous work.
Professor teaches well, I never understood physics in the past but now I can say I know physics. Thumbs up from me.
She is not the best professor but she makes an effort to get better and always help the students.
Coming from a background of never doing physics, this course is very confusing. Dr. Palak makes the material difficult to understand, however, she is very caring. She started the course moving quickly but has since slowed down and changed her teaching styles to benefit the students' learning. She does lots of things for the benefit of the students.
This professor was easily one of the worst I have ever been taught by. She would read lecture notes straight from the PowerPoint and didn't explain any concepts. I would not recommend her to any students. Avoid her at all costs unless you want to have the worst semester ever.
This professor was extremely difficult, did not focus hard enough on certain difficult course concepts and quickly rushed through her lecture slides. She did not put enough effort into teaching the students. I had to spend hours at home just to learn the content myself because the teaching in class was extremely ineffective. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS
I would never recommend her to anyone. She would just read off the slides and expect everyone to understand. When asked a question, she would repeat what she said with a new voice. She wouldn't give back cheat sheets, even when I asked very nicely and offered to go out of my way to accommodate her ahead of a final. She said well, it's too bad!
She failed me... I tried getting help at her office hours... She said she couldn't help me... I proceeded to fail the course due to the lack of support. Please.. Do not take her class.. she is a horrible teacher..
Bih made me quit Uni. She was hard af dont take her.
Please dont teach again. I struggled with this course because of her. I am currently taking a higher level of physics and doing completely fine. She was the problem, couldn't teach for shi.
I believe Dr. Goyal is a great professor. She might be new but she is putting 1000% efforts (providing extra office hours online as well as offine, teaching while she was on sick leave). I have an example from last weekend, none other professor replied but she replied to my doubts instantly even on weekends. I will give kuddos for that.
Not the best prof when she started, but you can tell she cares a lot about her job and her students and makes changes to help them every class. Can be hard to understand and rushes sometimes, but so caring and passionate about being a good prof and helping her students do well.
She truly seems dedicated to her students' success. Her teaching methods, like in-class exercises and ample practice questions, reflect her commitment. Her ability to adapt both offline and online for doubt-clearing is impressive. All in all, she's a great educator who goes above and beyond to ensure clear and effective learning. She is pretty cool
She's new but puts in all the effort to make lectures understandable. Uses a document camera to clarify lessons and provides lots of practice problems. She's clearly passionate about her job and loves teaching, even if she goes a bit fast sometimes. Still, you can always follow along. Definitely recommend her!
She's new but passionate, making lectures clear with different strategies. Gives plenty of practice problems, helps with assignments, and supports students even on weekends. Just had my first midterm, professor helped me during the test, providing clarification on questions when needed. She is supportive!
As many reviews mention, Palak might not be the most flashy professor, but you quickly come to appreciate the clarity of her explanations. You couldn't ask for a better teacher. Additionally, she's energetic, kind, fair, approachable, and always available. She focuses on real-world concepts rather than just book smarts!
Bro, talked to a student who took this course last summer and they painted a scary picture. But now, attending her classes this winter, it's a completely different experience. She focuses on application of concepts, helps solve problems, discusses many examples and give additional weekly practice problems. She's caring and supportive.
aw a comment and had to share my experience. A student from last summer warned me and failed this course. But now, attending her classes this winter, it's a completely different scenario. Maybe she improved her teaching strategy. I really like her classes; she adjusts to student needs, focuses on complex topics, and is caring and supportive.
Dr. Palak Goyal is an amazing professor. She is really passionate and supportive to everyone. She is an inspiration/role model for me. The way she teaches in class is really exceptional. I really thank her from the bottom of my heart. I am blessed that she is my professor. She helps in making concepts understand in a more better way with clarity.
Prof. Goyal genuinely wants her students to succeed. She explains difficult concepts clearly and considers students' perspectives. Her use of real-life examples and diagrams simplifies complex topics. I enjoy her lectures and appreciate her teaching style. She's approachable and even spent an hour clearing my doubts after class.
Guys, Dr. Goyal is a gem! She makes learning fun by using humor in class, so it never feels boring, and time flies by. She engages the class with discussions, i>Clicker questions, and, of course, her sense of humor. It's a great balance of learning and interaction, and I always look forward to attending her lectures.
Yeah! I truly feel she is extraordinary, enthusiastic, and makes Physics as simple as possible though its not an easy subject we all know. So, her qualities explain us well that how determined and dedicated she is towards her work. She teaches with excellence and I feel a lot of fun while attending her lectures.
As it is said, "Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself." This truly is a mirror of who she is. When I see her, it makes me realise that with consistent efforts in life, one can achieve everything if one desires for.
Dr. Palak Goyal is a wonderful professor who always like to share her knowledge with others. Moreover, I think she is like a light of hope and belief. She show us the correct path but finally one have to move on it to achieve something greater. She is a great example in front of all of us. Its always better to learn from her experiences.
Bro, she is an inspiring professor who truly shares her knowledge with passion. I agree with the previous review—she's a guiding light, showing us the correct path, but it's up to us to follow it. Her experiences motivate us to strive for greatness. It's always enriching to learn from her! I also love her sense of humor when she explains problems!
She doesn't rush and focuses on delivering quality information. She tries different ways to help her students succeed, explaining concepts clearly and giving plenty of practice problems. She taught me the importance of time management in exams, which was a game-changer. Highly recommend her classes!
Dr. Goyal, makes learning a fun experience for all the students. I really like to attend her lectures and gain a lot of knowledge. I truly feel she is really caring and have a positive attitude. She supported by explaining me the problems even after class for an hour and so I truly thank her and express my gratitude through these words from heart.
Dr. Palak Goyal lectures have left an indelible mark on my life. I truly see her in this, "Practice makes you perfect." She have been more than a teacher; you have been an inspiration for me. She believe in all of her students even when we didn't believe in ourselves. I feel that she is other name of "PERFECTION!!"
I will like to say here my words of appreciation for Dr. Goyal, "Her sacrifices don't go unnoticed." I know she truly care about her students. I really admire what she does for everyone. She inspired me to be my best self. Her motivation means more than she know. She have made a real difference in my understanding of Physics.
I also want to share my experience with Professor Goyal. I'm really enjoying her classes. She motivates us, calms us down during exams, and clarifies concepts so well. Plus, her sense of humor keeps the class engaging—something I rarely see in professors.
I want to share my thoughts on Professor Goyal! She is a very polite and fun teacher who focuses on the "muddiest points" and dedicates time to help students with weak areas. The class is engaging and proves that physics can be enjoyable. I highly recommend her class—it's a great learning experience that has positively impacted my understanding!
I'm here because Dr.Goyal truly stands out in her teaching approach. She uses pictorial representations and videos to clear concepts and calmly answers questions. I used to feel shy asking questions in class, but she makes me comfortable, always encouraging us to ask questions and saying no question is ever stupid or naive. She is amazing!
She is nearly impossible to understand, not only that her handwriting is even worse. She has absolutely no structure in her course and I taught myself the entire thing by youtube videos and online practice sheets. Avoid at all costs
Received my grades for the first midterm and had a positive experience. Initially worried due to negative feedback from others, but she explained her stepwise marking scheme—clear and generous. She focuses on applications, provides examples and weekly practice problems. She's caring and supportive. Highly recommend her classes!
She is super cool! Her lectures are amazing! She focuses on applying concepts, helps solve problems, and gives weekly practice problems. Her lectures are crystal clear; she plans and rehearses them meticulously. Physics isn't easy, but she puts in 110% effort. Following her study suggestions, I'm really getting it now. Highly recommend her classes!
I didn't expect my grade to be above 70% and I shared my concerns with her. She explained she focuses on the application of concepts, not just the final result like other professors. This approach really helped me understand better. She's so cool and I'm very happy with my grades! Highly recommend her classes!
Dr. Goyal's lectures are amazing! She's approachable and easy to talk to, which makes it comfortable to ask questions and seek help when needed. Her clear grading scheme focuses on understanding the right approach rather than just the final answer, which has been so helpful for learning. I'm very happy with the grades and the support she provides!
I usually don't rate professors, but after hearing some unfair comments, I wanted to share my experience. Dr. Goyal is one of the best—her teaching is clear, she's approachable, and she genuinely cares about our learning. Her grading is transparent and encourages understanding. She deserves recognition for her dedication to helping students succeed
Bro, I'm taking Dr. Goyal's math class in addition to Phys 112, and she recently started using a document camera there too. She's an absolute gem—making complex topics easy and offering alternative approaches for better understanding. Her teaching truly stands out! If she's teaching PHYS 122 next term, I'm definitely taking it!"
I totally agree with: *Her teaching and grading style make complex topics clear and manageable. She's supportive and responsive to student needs. I'd definitely sign up for PHYS 122 if she's teaching it next semester!* Highly recommend her as an instructor!"
Prof. Palak is a proactive instructor who explains tough concepts clearly and is very responsive to email inquiries—even on weekends. Her teaching and grading style make learning accessible and enjoyable. I'd definitely recommend her!
Don't fall for half of these bot comments, i stopped going to lecture because It was easier to fail by myself then waste my time going to a class where it was impossible to learn anything, fr avoid!
Don't fall for this negativity. Go to class, and you'll see she's genuinely good and supportive. You'll actually get a lot out of it!
I agree, guys! Don't fall for the unfair and negative comments. Go to class, and you'll see she's genuinely good and supportive. You'll actually get a lot out of it! She really takes time to explain concepts clearly and is always there to help if you ask.
I am here to share my experience too, Prof. Palak is an outstanding instructor! She explains complex concepts clearly, is incredibly supportive, and always responds to questions quickly—even outside class hours. Her teaching style makes learning enjoyable and engaging. I'd definitely recommend taking her class!"
Guys, I would definitely like to put this message from my heart. If you don't really respect any professor, you will definitely not be able to succeed in life. In order to gain any knowledge one needs to first learn to give respect to the professor who teaches the subject. As the tree with the fruits is always bent down instead of lifting up.
Such a stud. Exams are easy. Can't understand much she says first go
Avoid this class at all costs. Half the students end up self-teaching because the lectures are chaotic, and understanding the material is next to impossible. Her explanations are confusing, her handwriting is unreadable, and there's zero structure to the course. Youtube is more helpful.
Dr. Goyal is excellent at keeping the grading process clear and fair, which really helps us stay on top of our progress. She is attentive to what students need and genuinely supportive and flexible, making the class feel inclusive and approachable. Her commitment to helping us succeed makes a big difference! Go for it!
Professor plans her lectures well and keeps the class engaging with a variety of teaching methods. She provides practice problems that are essential for mastering the material, and it's clear that she really cares about her students' success. To succeed in her class, you need to study and practice, but her support makes it easier to stay motivated!
Prof. Goyal is a fantastic instructor who genuinely cares about her students. If you don't pay attention, it's not fair to complain about her teaching. If you follow her well-structured notes and practice questions, you can excel; I scored full marks! She creates a supportive and engaging learning environment, making her a super cool professor.
I agree. At first, I struggled with her handwriting on the whiteboard, but she is so passionate about her work and caring for her students. She started using a document camera to project the lecture on the screen, and now I realize her handwriting wasn't the issue—it was the board. Now, things make sense!
I wanted to warn everyone abt the reviews for this prof. Although this prof is relatively new, there are an unusually high number of positive reviews written everyday recently. The language style in these posts seems like it's coming from bots or ChatGPT generated. It might be better asking ppl who've had direct experience with her instead.
Guess everyone's got their own take on stuff, but from what I heard, she's clear, grades fair, and actually helps with assignments. Midterms aren't too wild either—seems like she's really just here to help us do well.
be careful of these bot reviews, the professor herself is somewhat nice but her lecture content makes zero sense, she speeds through everything, canvas structure is horrible, takes me like 5 minutes to find the right lecture slides I want to go over and basically have to teach myself everything, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROF, unless u wanna suffer.
Guys, I had to drop by and warn you—don't fall for the negativity spread by some people! I think she really works on herself every day, and she is legit amazing! She truly cares about us, and in the last class, she explained the whole slide again for one student. Imagine that! It's super cool how she makes sure we all get it!
I also agree! My friend showed me this site, and surprisingly, it seems like some people are trying to spread negativity about her. You know what? Don't believe it! Go and get your own experience. Personally, I think she's awesome! She even took the time to clarify my doubts on weekends. GO FOR HER!
I've got three things to spill that I've felt personally and my buddies do too She's genuinely got our backs. Super easy to chat with and always around for a hand. Gives us loads of different problems and mock tests before exams, which is a lifesaver:-)
She is brilliant. Whatever I can say for her is less. She is superb and supports everyone really well. She takes doubts openly. So, she is an excellent role model for all of us.
She is the real MVP! She genuinely cares about her students and spent an entire day clarifying our doubts before the midterm. How awesome is that?!
all the positive reviews are bot reviews. talk to anyone who is currently taking her class and nobody has anything good to say about her. she is so disorganized and does not explain anything thoroughly so attending the lecture doesn't enhance your learning at all
She is an absolute gem! She breaks down tough stuff in a way that just clicks. Spent 2 hours in her office for midterm prep. She's always ready with extra office hours and study hacks that actually help. Everyone's got their own perspective, but for me, she's the best!
I agree, he puts real efforts both in class and during office hours! I get why some people might think these good reviews sound sus, but I've legit spent hours in her office, and trust me, she knows her stuff. She explains everything so it actually clicks, gives extra time, and always shares the best study tips!
She helps out during exams by giving hints and clarifications. Just yesterday, she was walking around the class, answering our questions even during the exam. She also tries to relax and calm us. I really like the idea of individual and group stage of exam—they help improve our grades. Highly recommend her classes!
These comments does not describe the ability that a professor has because we are not enough capable to decide what potential someone has because no one is perfect in this universe even the ones commenting aren't perfect either. I really thank from the bottom of my heart because we can't give our professors anything in return for their sacrifices.
Dr. Goyal is a very nice person but not the best teacher. she goes through her lecture slides really quickly and often misses key information. The second midterm was also nothing like the mock she gave. She also doesn't scale which is pretty unfair if the average is low because thats more the teachers fault if majority of the students did bad.
She is a nice person. She really goes the extra mile by offering both online and in-person office hours. I struggled with some concepts, but thanks to her help during those office hours, I got the hang of it. Now it's on me to practice more. I also loved the mock tests she provided—I was able to tackle half of the midterm because of them!
First things first, ignore these bots and check the dates on them... they're posted on the same day or one day apart for multiple "five star" reviews. This professor has been my worst teacher since preschool. She struggles heavily with how to teach what we need to know, such as missing key concepts and working with students. I wish you luck.
Well, to be completely honest, I have no idea how she was hired by UBCO. She is clueless out there, doesn't not what to teach, when to teach it, or how to teach it. I would avoid her classes.
Had a class where my final got exempted and the professor got fired...she is worse. The average on midterms goes from 75 to 56, and dont get curved. Shes all over the place, lectures are not helpful/so confusing, the grading has no basis+no part marks for anything. Her canvas is so bad, and exams suck. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. Other reviews are bots.
I had terrible teachers in high school who didn't care about me. Prof Goyal is a gem; she understands different situations and perspectives. She gave me valuable feedback on my test and even regraded it when I had doubts. I really appreciate her clear and fair grading criteria. She's made a huge difference in my learning experience! Go for her!
All these 5 star ratings are fake. Don't listen to them. Whoever made them should be ashamed of themselves.
It's super frustrating to see all this negativity. She put real effort into getting better day by day. Those positive comments are legit and show how hard the professor works. Spreading false rumors and hate is just unfair. If you're blaming others for your own issues, that's not cool. Shame on those who have degraded themselves so low!
She is terrible. She called a friend of mine disabled after she went to ask for help, and her lectures are terrible. As an example, on the first or second class, she tried to explain what slope was, (plain, basic slope) and explained it so poorly that I walked out of that class not knowing if I was understanding it. That was how the rest went.
She is a very kind, caring professor and gives in-depth feedback if you request it. I never took physics in high school, so her course was difficult but doable for me. She genuinely cares about her students.
This is the worst professor I have come across in my time. My friends and I within the class are not happy with the way she teaches. She does not explain the course material well. Although I hope the positive reviews are accurate on her. They all sound the same. Which makes it suspicious. Either way, I would avoid her at all costs.
I took physics in high school (as it is required in most schools) and the course material was harder yet I understood in more than this class. Palak is clueless and is truly ruining the student experience at UBCO. I am a strong student yet her class ruins my average because she has no clue how to teach.
Physics and math are not my strongest subjects. I was worried about them! Palak has changed my view on physics and math. Her teaching style and support made a huge difference for me. I'd love to take Physics 2 with her next year. If anyone knows how to take it alongside calculus, I'd really appreciate the advice!
Had our last class today, and I have to thank UBCO for hiring her. Reza used to teach this course, and he was terrible. I was afraid of new faculty, but she is really supportive. She gives detailed feedback, helps with preparation strategies, and even gives you part marks for your conceptual knowledge. I am definitely taking Physics 2 with her!
This professor has tanked my average. I am a second year biology student who was strong in both Calc 1 and 2. This professor has an awful teaching style, poor organization in canvas, and explanations. She said she won't give us a mock final as "it wouldn't be to the difficulty level". Why don't you just give us one that is to the difficulty level??
I disagree with a previous rating. I also didn't have physics. She has been really supportive, offering weekly practice questions and mock exams that really helped. I appreciate that she allows memory aids, unlike my friends in PHYS 111. Her support and detailed feedback made a big difference for me. Everyone has different perspective.
She is not the best but I guess better than others. I saw huge differencefrom first to last class! Gives you part marks and I like how she provided the final exam preparation guide. She focuses on applying concepts. Yeah, I like her, you tell me who takes doubts session on Saturdays! She patiently answers your question.
dont listen to all these BOTS giving 5 stars. Dr. Goyal's lectures are unorganized and often left incomplete. her answer keys for test/worksheets have so many mistakes like i question whether she actually uses a calculator. Doesnt scale even with averages just over 50%. AVOID HER PLEASEEEE
take this with a different prof if you can her lectures are all over the place. didnt give a mock exam for a final worth 40% of our grade. both my midterms had grading mistakes that i had to point out to her for them to be fixed. she got mad at us for "not knowing anything" as if shes not our literal teacher who is responsible for our learning...
I have asked my friends form Phys 111 usually PHYS profs don't give mock test only practice tests. Bro, she went out of the box to provide them for midterms and plenty of practice questions for finals. My performance improved greatly. She values the approach over the final answer. Don't spread false info here—shame on those who do. GO FOR HER!
Had the final exam today and it was super easy because all the questions were similar to what she has taught in the class. My group members also thought same. Unlike other faculty papers, it was not a surprise at all. She really gives good feedback and clarifies your doubts even during the exam. It's sad to see people spreading hate over here.
I agree, bro. The exam was pretty much straight forward, nothing was unexpected. Sha has given bonus questions also. Don't fall for the hate spread by a few people. Do you see the pattern? The moment there is something good about her here, someone tries to put a negative comment. Misusing RMP like this is frustrating….
Although I did not enjoy her class one bit due to poor organization, rudeness, terrible teaching and very harsh marking and mistakes, I will give her the one thing that I think she did right. She gave a fair final. For this though, she gave no mock final and hardly any prep. I taught myself this class for the semester. I would not take this class.
The lessons are hard to follow, and the explanations lack clarity. There's little effort to make the material engaging or relatable, and questions often go unanswered. It's frustrating trying to keep up, and the class feels unorganized. Not a helpful learning experience.
Guys, please don't spread this sort of negativity and false accusations for such professor. I would say if you want to see picture of hard work, dedication, and consistency, just see her! Its not good to spread such form of false negativity for the prof who puts her 110% efforts in order to help students in the best way.
Dr. Goyal is a complete gem. She made learning so fun which made me respect and appreciate her even more. Thank you for all your extraordinary efforts. You are the one who inspires me, ignite the spark of hard work and courage, and proves completely that anything is possible to achieve in life if you aim for it with complete heart:)
The lectures were all over the place and she never gave an in-depth explanation on the hard topics, but an over complicated one for the easy topics. I think the final exam grades will really show what type of professor she is and her lack of teaching skills. If you don't wanna teach urself I'd say don't take this class with her.
I am a student from her class and I wrote the previous review. How could you say that she writing these reviews. Don't spread false accusations. Someone who is good if 40 people liking her that's quite normal because she deserves that. Also, final exam grades don't show the type of professor, its about how much efforts you put in Physics practice.
Dr. Goyal is a good and excellent prof, she always motivates me to perform better and also, i remember her texting me to check up on me when i was sick, she is very encouraging and inspired me, attendance is mandatory as she explains stuff most in classes. her final paper was very direct and easy as well as it was most of the things we did online.
I would like to mention back about the thing one person mentioned and I want to clear it firmly that the professors don't even have access to write the review on this platform so, please stop this false negativity. Don't make up things. I am one of the student who would like to bring true colours in front because its not right to make up stories.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!
Never had a worse prof she needs to be fired immediately
Professor Goyal has the unfortunate task of teaching first-years a difficult course, but does so with empathy. She adds more extra and bonus marks to improve your grade than any other prof I've seen! Yes her lectures and course material are difficult, but she genuinely seems like she wants everyone to do well. Would definitely take her again!
This professor has no idea how to teach anything and overcomplicates the simplest topics. I learned more reading the textbook at home for 20 minutes than attending her lecture. She yells at everyone in class and gets mad when you ask for help. Ignore the fake reviews on here saying she's a good professor. They're obviously fake, SHES NOT.
save yourself the self committing thoughts, dont take her. she has too big of an ego that she needs to write fake reviews to feel better about herself. She said in one of her fake reviews that the profs dont have access to rate my prof but you just need an email so she snitched on herself pretending to be a "student" which shows her character
This professor is horrendous at teaching. She can't even teach first year physics which is literally a repeat of high school Physics 11 and 12. The only reason I did good in the class is because I already knew how to do most of it and the rest I had to teach myself. All of the good reviews are obviously fake because no student would write those.
Very caring professor, but do not take unless you have completed physics in high school, as she assumes background when discussing material. I would also recommend taking Calc 12 as it is part of the curriculum, even though you may not have yet covered it in Calc 100. The first lecture is rough, but not indicative of the course.
A very nice professor who cares about us as students. But assumes a background of high school physics and calc. Don't worry about the first few lectures they are very tough but do not define the material that will be learnt throughout the course.
This is a class where your effort shows up in your grade. She gives more than enough practice questions, assignments, mock exams, and suggested reading materials that you can do, and they have helped me a lot personally. It can be a bit hard to understand her sometimes, but if you put time & effort into this class, I believe you can get an easy A.
Her final exam saved me.
Although a professor who cares about her students, she has no structure or organization in her class. We were never quite sure what exactly she was teaching, and she would randomly derive formulas without telling us that was what she was doing. Her final was very fair, however, the difficulty difference between her two midterms was shocking.
Avoid at all costs if you haven't taken a physics course in highschool. Prof Goyal was a very caring person but she cannot teach. It was kind of unbelievable that I had to PAY to get taught by this woman. She taught entirely out of a textbook using the slides sold by the textbook, nothing she taught was her own material. Waste of money.
For the last 2 month this course I did not attend a class. She cannot take criticism. Midterm2 had a question relating to midterm1 material. Instead of removing this question, she handed out lots of points if ppl wrote formula, and those who did not lost 20%. The final was easy. She removed the display of class averages, which shouldnt be allowed.
I have always struggled with math and Palak made my life easy. She is very kind and will help you if you ask for it. Her tests are very fair and she gives you a lot of practice outside of class.
This professor was very sweet and nice and she did put in effort but she was very hard to understand and jumped very quickly from subject to subject. Not such a good teacher, but still a very nice person.
Oh, man... I don't even know where to start. The content in PHYS 112 is relatively very easy, especially if you took Physics 12 but Palak managed to take simple concepts and dissect them to the point that they were even more confusing. She is nice but avoid her class if you can. It was painful to sit through her lectures.
I actually took MATH 125 with her but it wouldn't let me pick it. Goyal was one of the worst professors I've had. She made us feel dumb for not understanding when she didn't explain things and would pick on people. Clearly frustrated with our performance she did nothing to change her teaching. You would be better to teach yourself. 1/10
avoid this professor if you can PLEASE. Dr. Goyal cannot teach I basically taught myself everything by using the textbook or organic chem tutor. She can be condescending when answering questions and gets mad when her students don't know the answer yet shes in charge of teaching us...
physics is a tough course and its being taught by the worst prof ever. you are better off teaching yourself everything and not even attending lecture because all her slides are literally the textbook summarized by chatgpt like I wish I was kidding
avoid this class at all costs this teacher cannot teach AT ALL
I think she is new but very passionate about science. Knowing this is first time of her teaching she is doing good. What I like, she gives good feedback.
Its ok if you don't like some professor, but spreading false accusations about professor like that is truly unfair and not ethical.
She is a nice person. I have missed some of the classes. She spend one and half hour on me to explain the missed stuff to me. She really cares for her student success.
She gives good feedback and understand your situation and gives you extension for assignments understanding your situation. Supportive!
Dr.Goyal is a Gem and one of the most caring professor in our University. She is truly exceptional and I thank her from bottom of my heart for each and every help as she did best, being an amazing professor.
What a best professor is Dr. Palak, I could ever had. I would definitely miss such a honest professor as this is my last Physics course. She is truly dedicated and determined towards her teaching. She is so passionate that seeing her itself gives inspiration in heart! The way she helps students and gives feedback is really beyond words.
You are not at all allowed to say about the language or about accent of a professor. Its about how she teaches so well and how dedicated she is. You should not be speaking about anyone's accent. Its not at all ethical to do. So, please be mindful what you say as you are doing discrimination on language field which is not allowed!
People say that accent doesnt matter but how tf am I suppose to understand physics when I cant understand the prof. It takes more time trying to decipher her words and especially for physics when the concepts are hard to understand. She is a nice person and her prof but hers are difficult to understand.
I understand what you are saying but I would recommend always talking to any professor you face problem with in understanding. Even me and my friend for some other course talked with professor in person. It's always the best way to communicate rather than writing review over that because that's not helpful for you either:)
Horrible prof. sure she's always telling her students to reach out if struggling but she doesn't do anything about it. Half the time she posts practice problems or mock exams that are not similar to her lectures at all. Also the other prof that teaches the course wrote the final so her section did way worse. Highly do not recommend taking her class
Well I don't like physics much and just wanted to pass this one.., she is supportive and approachable outside class akeo... Helped me with my lots of queries…and I passed the course
She always tries her best but honestly she sucks at explaining, her tests are not like her lecture slides. You won't be able to understand a word of what she says and she does not post her notes. She posts practice tests that are nothing like the lectures which do not help for midterms. She is very disorganized and not prepared!
Please at lease don't mention false claims here. She does post her notes in canvas. We are not enough capable yet to tell our professors because they always do their what they can for all of their students. She is so organized and prepared. Its super easy to say someone and put faulty blames on other person. She is super amazing professor!! 100%:))
I agree, she is supportive and care for her students. What I like she is approcable and easy to talk to.
Dr. Goyal is genuinely the best physics prof that I have come across. After high school I was terrified of taking a uni level physics, but Dr. Goyal made concepts so understandable. Her live demos were amazing at explaining certain phenomena in terms of physics and made me enjoy this class even more. Would 100% recommend!
Took it in 24w Initially I use to think she was bad but amazing useful practice worksheets, accessible outside of class. Tries to make content as easy as possible. Makes physics doable and genuinely wants to give good grades. Understanding is hard sometimes in class but 1:1 in office hours is awesome. Exams are doable, keep doing worksheets.
Dr Goyal is so kind and caring for her students. Anyone who says she is hard to understand clearly doesn't pay attention in class. She posts lots of practice questions including previous year test questions which are very helpful. She also records her lectures in case you miss a class.
I took a class last semester with her, and I am still haunted by how bad of a professor she is. She is so unorganized, so terrible at explaining things, and her exams have mistakes all over them. It doesn't matter how much time these "students" think she spends trying; the class still sucks, and she needs to be fired. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!
Super caring, posts lots of practice problems and is super willing to help. Tests were quite easy and the group tests only boosted grades. Only downside is she may be hard to understand at first due to an accent, but once you get used to it she's very good.
Dr. Goyal was super caring and wanted her students to learn. Her labs and tutorials were great supplementary to the lectures, however, as someone who is not great with math or physics, I found the tests hard. The group tests helped boost my grade, but you really have to work to know concepts, espescially when the midterms only had 6 questions.
caring and approachable, would go an extra mile for students. straightforward grading criteria and low intensity exams
Amazing professor in UBC Okanagan. She loves her subject and will take care of you as long as you are giving your best.
Professor Goyal is a very nice and talented person, though her teaching style is unique one must adapt to the teaching style to actually understand stuff that is going on in her lectures. I would recommend self studying.
