Dr. Sen explain statistics so well. She is not too hard, but you have to go to class and do all the homework if you want to do well. She is definetly a good teacher though and will make you learn it no matter what.

Home work assignments have to be typed before turning them in. She thinks that she is doing you a favor, but it's a waist of time. She can be rude and cocky. Good class if you are a girl. If your a guy, take Dr. Wilson. She is way too picky.
Took the summer class with her. She does not give a lot of homework, explains all homework problems after it is turned in, practices before quiz and exams, gives great lessons. Great teacher that is cocky and rude from time to time. A
She really knows what she is talking about. She explains everything very well and her lessons are very well organized. She is also a very nice lady if you actually take the time to talk to her. She's really funny too, even when she's not trying to be.
I took her summer class too and it seems like she tries to scare people to drop her class at first but she turned out really good. She has an accent but the way she puts students in check is awesome. Do your homework and buy a TI 83. Have fun...
Shes a good teacher but her accent is a tiny prob. The TAs spend class w/ us on Fri. and help a lot! She's not hard at all and she never checks homework. Shes a really nice sweet person!

Great Professor
Dr. Sen is pretty funny. As long as you go to classes you should be able to follow it pretty well I know I did and Im terrible at math. Just a tad bit of studying before quizes and tests and you should be set.
She made several comments to me that I found personally offensive. I don't know what everyone is talking about but this semester with Dr. Sen was horrible avoid her at all cost.

she is funny and a great teacher. You just have to go to class and you can get by. Her accent is hard to understand but it shouldn't be a prob if you pay att.
On one hand Dr. Sen insist you ask questions. On the other, she makes you feel stupid for doing so. Don’t shut up and don’t get intimidated! She may frustrate you at times, but stick with her and you will learn. Isn’t that the point? Complaints pertaining to her accent are ridiculous and immature.
She is an ok professor. Her accent didnt bother me at all. She knows what she is talking about and makes complicated problems seem easy in class. The tests are a little rough though.
Sen is nice and entertaining, but hard to understand with her accent and because she gets frustrated when you ask questions and doesn't answer them clearly. You have to go to class b/c she moves quickly and its hard to understand the material w/o the lecture.

Confusing, cannot even understand what she is saying. I went a few times to get help after class and when I did not understand the material at first she got mad and frustrated. I'm sure she's a nice lady, but a horrible teacher. I would not reccomend her to my worst enemy, unless they were a math wiz.

at first, her accent was hard to get used to, but i understand her fine. her class is straightforward and you will know soon if you are capable of passing the class. YOU MUST SHOW UP TO CLASS EVEN IF THERE'S NOT A QUIZ OR TEST. if you dont, you will be completely lost b/c she shows exactly how to use the calculator in class..makes it easier
She doesn't like too many questions and she teaches like a nagging old bag!She made this class her hard with her fussy, ask no questions attitude. Do yourself a favor and take someone else!
Wonderful teacher! She is very helpful, people just ask dumb repeatitive questions to where she gets annoyed and blows you off (which is sort of funny). The discussions are extremely helpful. Just go to class, pay attention, if you don't get it at first, note you probably never will.
Easy class! As long as you go, you don't even have to understand the material-she shows you exactly how to do everything on the calculator. She also drops your lowest test (out of 4 total). If you have a tough time understanding her, you can always ask your GTA in the breakout groups. Thought that she was a good teacher who knew her stuff!Take Her
Understanding her was a challange. Although she was happy to show you how to do things on a calcultor it seemed as an easy way out instead of understanding the material. She was not fond of questions... any questions.Although I can say she an easier teacher if you had the opportunity to take some who is more clear and informative take advantage.
I try to avoid her because of the reasons posted by others. She knows the material, but I think she goes too fast. I would have liked her to go more in depth about the SAS program.

Nice, fun, a little hard to understand because of accent but she is a great teacher and she seems to really appreciates her students who put as much into the class as she does. I hope to take another one her classes if possible.
Impossible to understand! Did not like questions. I worked my *ss off in this class, went to class, took notes, did hw, and still got an.....F! My first F! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND FIND SOMEONE ELSE! DON'T PAY $400 FOR AN F LIKE I DID!
She is a nice teacher, although she has an attitude that is kinda like she is the wise instructor trying to teach a bunch of lazy American kids. She's kinda funny, and makes some weird noises from time to time. She dresses like she is a Catholic nun, and she kind of waddles up to the chalk board and writes everything on the board.
Professor Sen is a wonderful teacher. She does have an accent, but she moves slowly and makes sure that the concepts are clear before moving on. The breakout sessions are also very helpful.
Dr. Sen is one of the best Mathematics teachers that I've ever had. She is very intelligent and she is very, very clear on what she wants you to study for the quizzes. She says that you can't makeup quizzes, but just email her if you have a prior engagement and she'll let you take it. Take Dr. Sen. She is great.
Dr.Sen is good; the people that always seem to complain are the same ones I never see during lectures. If possible don’t get the first break out, the T.A. always forgets to tell the first class about stuff, on the quizzes. Her accent is a bit difficult to get at first, so sit close to the front for the first few weeks.
Could not understand a word she spoke. Grammar was all jumbled and the accent didn't help. She jumped around alot and seemed a bit disorganized. Quizzes are easy but they are so easy that you aren't prepared for the tests which are much more difficult. Allows a cheat sheet of formulas for each exam. Very smart but poor communication of concepts.
Can be described with one word: BORING. She is no fun and alomst uselss. Uses the text exclusively and has no thoughts of her own. Doesn't relate class to real world at all.
This class was the worst experience of my life. She has a very thick accent (the previous reviewer was right she doesn't seem to like American youngsters I was raised in Europe & I base this on a comment she made) I studied, read, did hw,went to every single class, sought extra help and still got D!I repeated this class with another prof. & got B.
This was an honors class, so the class was small, about 20. I liked the class and Professor Sen, but I do enjoy Math. Her accent was strong, but I found her lessons to be very clear once you get past the accent. She was very willing to answer any questions, and to meet with outside of class for help. Take the class seriously though.
Quite possibly the most challenging math course I have ever taken, but consider that I am a weak math student. If you take this class it is imperative that you purchase the solutions manual or have a great deal of mathematical intuition behind you. Algebra B, Pre-cal C, Trig C,CAL I-III A,B&C, Linear Algebra C, DIFF-Eq B
Miss one class and you will be completely lost, but going to class doesn't help too much more because her accent is so thick you end up spending more time trying to figure out what she said than actually understanding the concepts. Her tests are super short so if you screw up on one problem, its over- you fail. Good luck!
went into this class loving math. i hate it now! she is impossible to understand you really need to listen.but when you can understand her she is funny.if you ask questions in class be prepared for a smart comment from her.her tests were impossible for me,whatever material she says is on the test be prepared to know everything else in the ch too!
I worked hard and received an F. It was the first time in 3 years of college I made a grade below a C. Retook the class with another prof and received an A. I think that says enough.
I have taken four classes with Dr. Sen (I have no other choice as a Stats major at UNF) and have consistently found her to be condescending, demeaning, rude, and disrespectful. Hard work has never paid off in her classes. She doesn't reconsider grades even if she is blatantly wrong. She reads straight out of the book and treats students unfairly.
My grandfather died the day before one of her exams and she told me to choose "your exam or your grandfather"...what a ****!! Who says that??!!?? So she gave me an F on the missed exam and this forced me to drop the class. Plus it did not help that knowbody could understand her.
I am a Math Ed major, and Dr. Sen is very easy to understand compared to most other Math Prof. You do have to do the work. I took this class in the summer. The material is not easy, but she makes Stats as easy as it can be. She is the most humble and understanding Prof I have had. Ch 2 and 7 need more time than what is given in a summer course
Overall, Dr. Sen's class was very easy, provided you attend lectures and ask questions. Her accent is a little difficult to understand, but I found that as long as I sat in the middle or front of the lecture space, I had no problem understanding what she was saying. She is actually pretty funny, and always has a smart response to some questions.
It seems almost impossible for some students to pass her Stats. class, however people are maintaining an A average only because they have been studying last year's exams and quizzes. Definitely raises a question as well as the students esteem. So to get an A..study her exams and quizzes...
Shes horrible. Not only is she hard to comprehend verbally, shes so bad you can compare her to don vito, she needs subtitiles. But her teaching is unclear, she does one problem and rarely answers questions towards what your looking for. I do not recommend her at all.
The online hwk is nothin g like the quizes and she doesnt explain things at all, in one class all she will most likely only go over one problem and that is it, her quizes aren't like the hwk or examples and her exams are nothing like her quizzes. I would not take her because even though the class should be simple, she makes it extremely complicated
Do homework every week. At the beginning of class, she will do problems you have questions on. Very helpful, sometimes hard to understand with accent, but just ask her to repeat herself. Quizzes are easy, given formulas, problems straight from lecture. On tests you are allowed a cheat sheet. Tests VERY similar to quizzes. I would recommend her!
accent is difficult to understand however she is very wiling to help if you ask a question. I struggled in the beginning of the year because I only did the online hw, there's hw from the book she assigns that isnt collected. It helps tremendously to do it! Go see the TA, they're extremely helpful. If you do the book hw, you will pass the quizzes.
Can be sightly helpful at times when asked questions. Otherwise, goes at a rather quick pace and yet spends half the class on a single problem. It's highly recommended you do the bookwork even though it's not collected. It helps! Tricky wording on quizzes/exams which can throw you off. Study quizzes closely before exams. Don't really recommend her.
I do NOT recommend this prof. take her only if u are willing to teach yourself. i went to EVERY class and did the hw that she didnt collect. tests, quizzes, & hw, are not the same whatsoever. shes hard to understand n spends too much time on 1 problem. she doesnt even give partial credit on quizzes or tests 4 anything.u either get it wrong or right
she doesnt speak very well or explain things clearly at all. i figured things out from how she wrote the problems out on the board and just hoped id be able to do it with the hw and tests. i do not suggest this teacher. she also yells about how no ones listening when we ask questions yet none of us can understand two words she says. its ridiculous.
DO NOT TAKE THIS LADY! She does not help you when you are confused, so literally just makes it more confusing for you. Doesn't speak English well. Basically overall she is useless, my entire class except for 2 people failed. I recommend taking someone else and if she is the last resort wait until the next semester.

If you have issues with accents do not take her, I took statistics in high school so I had a lot of background knowledge so I think that is what made it easy for me but a lot of other people struggled. If you sit up front take notes and pay attention you will be okay.
DO NOT TAKE THIS WOMAN. she is impossible to understand. the work has nothing to do with the tests. and she constatnly complains to you that she doesn't understand why no one does well. Save yourself the grade and the anger and find a different professor.
THIS TEACHER IS TERRIBLE. She will hurt you, and is unforgiving in her test. Dont take her if you can, worst mistake i ever did
very hard to understand, class average is a D and she gives no curve nor extra credit opportunities, rushes through her lessons, is very rude when you ask for help by discouraging your confidence to succeed in your academic life. she shows that she enjoys watching students fail, do not take her!
Take her if you want. I hated her! Regardless of if I thought the test material was okay, I thought her teaching style was disorganized and hard to follow. Did not appreciate her attitude with the class the entire semester and in my opinion she did not explain anything well. She was all over the place most of all her lectures. Two thumbs down.

Dr. Sen is a very nice professor who will help you if you come to class and do your work. I have taken several of her classes and she is always very clear of her expectations. Her tests follow directly from the homework she assigns. She is a very sweet woman.

Respectable, teaches only to those who listen. If you don't do your part to keep up, she may not sympathize with you, and she's as bonafide as they come when she says to use her office hours. She deserves a great rating purely from her willingness to, not lecture twice, but answer any question you may have. A+ Overall (Engineering Statistics)
This women did not know how to speak English very well at all and whenever you asked her for help she would go on a rant about how we should already know and that its easy when its not. I DO NOT recommend her at all. You will probably end up withdrawing like I did.
I made an A+, but only because I am a math person and I taught myself from the book. Her accent is thick, but overall the course material is pretty easy itself if you're willing to teach yourself at home. And try not to raise your hand with the wrong answer. She will make fun of you.
DO NOT TAKE. Pali Sen does not communicate with you. 11 quizzes, 3 exams, and 1 final. She doesn't tell you this but the final makes up 30% of your grade. Do not take her if you are not a math person or struggle in math.

Complicates things more. Can barely understand her accent. Makes fun of students who get the answers wrong. Would not suggest taking her.
She does have an accent but is more than willing to repeat or explain when you need it.
Future students: Only take if this is a final option. Attendance is optional, I strongly suggest NOT going. Make friends with the TA's!! They will teach you more during their office hours (Or even in the 30 minutes before the weekly quiz) than you will in the 2 lectures. Don't bother buying the textbook!! Only assignments are weekly quizzes.
Tests have absolutely almost nothing to do with what she "teaches." I learned more from the teaching assistants and SI sessions than I did with the "professor." She ridicules you for wrong answers and doesn't offer any help whatsoever. Do not take this class.
She overcomplicates the material and demands a bit much for quizzes with limited time (memorizing at minimum 3 types of statistical tests weekly). She contradicts the book's solutions and although English is my second language she is hard to understand. Not an empathetic professor nor accomodating or helpful. I wish I hadn't enrolled in her class.
DO NOT take this class! Terrible professor and hard to understand when speaking. If you plan on passing Statistics, find a different professor.
Incredibly unhelpful and shames people for asking questions (in lecture and during office hours). If you're looking for a professor that cares whether or not you as an individual fully understand the material, avoid her at all costs.
She's not the nicest person ever, and if you have trouble understanding accents her class is not for you. The time going over the material in the 20 minutes before the quiz with the TA is the most valuable. However; the homework is easy and she lets you use a full sheet front and back for every test and two for the final. She's not the worst ever.
She can be difficult to understand due to her accent. The class itself isn't very hard though, she does plenty of examples that are exactly the same as those on the tests.
There is a quiz every week (besides weeks containing an exam). She gives you practice problems to help prepare you for the quizzes. Even if you understand the topic, DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS. Her accent is hard to understand at first. The only thing I didn't particularly like is the fact that she doesn't put grades online.
Very easy class. No homework and no quizzes. Two tests and she gives you 50% for putting your name.
Tests weren't too terrible, quizzes every week, her final was too long to finish in 2 hours. Hard to understand her sometimes.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. She is very rude and very unhelpful.
Very hard. Assigns hundreds of non-graded homework problems that she expects you to do. The questions she asks on the weekly 30 minute quizzes are right from the homework, some would take a good half-hour if you haven't already done them in the homework and try to figure it out from scratch. If you do all of the homework though, you'll pass.
If you enjoy being in constant stress, contemplating suicide, or switching majors then this is the professor for you. Not only is Pali Sen a terrible professor, but she is also one of the rudest individuals you will meet. She expects you to think like she does. If you don't, you're considered stupid. Only gives tests and quizzes be ready to work.
