great professor....really like the way she taught.
Sucks as a teacher. She trys hard so thats good for something but in the end she really just sucks. Accent makes it a bit difficult but almost everyone at newark has one.
Outstanding professor. One of the most helpful professors I have ever had. Her tests are fair. If you put in the time studying you will pick up an A with ease.
She is helpful and keeps you interested. The assignments are drastic and long for the 1st 1/2 of the semester but at the end you breeze by. Okay grader.
she talked down to us all the time. half the people there didn't have the calculus background, which she reproached them for all the time. did not even bother to make the lecture interesting, although she did try to encourage student participation.

she's adorable! she tries so hard to get everyone into the subject matter!
Wonderful teacher.Very helpful.
spent half the class yelling at the dicipline problems, and was not always clear in the teaching methods. tries hard, but not always effective.
Professor Parekh was an outstanding professor. She worked very hard with all of her students. she is loving, kind and very concerned with each individual students learning process. she spent a lot of quality time making sure everyone understood the material. She is definitely fair. I highly recommend her.
Great professor! She taught very well, very patient with students. Gave good review before every test & final. 3-4 tests; 3 quizzes; lots of homework; comprehensive/cumulative final exam. Highly recommended.
very helpful and patient.
She was a wonderful professor who cares about her students. She is extremely fair and kind. I counldn't ask for anyone else, she did more work to make us understand then most of us. She definitely earns her pay. She has tests and quizzes which allow for a one page cheat sheet. And with a throrough review before each, the test are easy and fun. A+
Ehh...what happened?! I had her for a remedial math course and she was the best. But in this course, it was the complete opposite. She was unhelpful, unclear, and only gave one way to solve a problem, and not the easy way either. I had to teach myself to pass the course and found better methods than the ones she taught. She disappointed me.
my god is tries hard for everybody to understand but she talks the mathematical language if you dont understand the language you are going to have a hard time...she does explain over and over again which helps, but that damn math language kills me....try to avoid in the summer so goes really fast.
she is the most flexible and understanding professor i've ever had (in math atleast) she will curve the exams they're comprehensive but gives you a list of problems that are on it so exams r a breeze. just do homework/take quizes and youll pass .dont fall behind!
omg, i could never freakin understand her. i aced calc 1, but geeze. she made everything more complicated than it needed to be. i felt like i died a little bit inside each time i sat through her class.
Had her for Basic Calc. She was very helpful and extremely understanding. She is very supportive to students that are dedicated. My class only met once a week which required ALOT of independent studying. Must do homework and practice problems that she provides. Textbook is horrible.
SHE IS AWFUL. The worst math teacher I have ever had. It is impossible to understand a word she is saying. Her pronunciation is entirely incorrect so most of the time I have no idea what she's trying to say and when I do know what she's saying she just making everything SO MUCH HARDER than it needs to be. She is a nice lady but SHE CANNOT TEACH
excellent teacher, took time on her time to tutor just to help you pass her class. took her time to explain the problem until you can understand
excellent teacher
The professor was extremely helpful and worked with the students to learn material in order to pass the class.
She tries extremely hard to make you understand the material. Random quizzes and 3 Exams. She goes over homework problems. I didnt do well because I hardly did the homework.
She is funny, eager to teach, extremely helpful, and makes herself available for extra help.Guaranteed to pass.
She is really easy. I would recommend her.
FOR THOSE OF YOU LOONING TO TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. I will say this, She is a nice woman with an accent but it is not that difficult to understand. As far as teaching goes, She will not baby step you through it but if you ask for help she will give you help. She is a fan of attendance, class participation, hw, and quizzes.
She is more concerned about the amount of material that she has to cover rather than being concerned on how her students are learning the subject. If you need help she says to get a tutor because she can't help you. If you're a math wiz you'll probably pass, other wise change professor immediately!
DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU WANT TO LEARN. She keeps referring to how in India she learned better and she'll be sarcastic about your intelligence and embarass you in class, never happened to me, but I've seen it. She's a horrible teacher and can't teach, you won't learn a thing. She writes unorganized problems and hopes u know what your doing.AVOID HER!
I dont care how nice evryone says she is..SHE CANT TEACH!!!i dont attend college to have a nice professor but to get an education...she will make an easy class the most confusing one ever!!!! you will deff live in the turoring center if u have her!!so try avoiding her
a decent professor. she made sure everyone understood the material before each exam time by providing many practice problems. sometimes its difficult to understand her because of her accent but overall, she tries to make sure the students keep up with their work because she wants them to do well. there's only 3 exams & a final.
I love prof parekh...i had her for all my math classes rite from precalc to calc 2..she is awesome...she makes sure everyone understands the material..her exams are fair..she give you all the review problems..and if you know those review problems you will do well..best prof in rutgers..i mite also take calc 3 with her..take her..shez best
What? Who had the audacity to use words like best and awesome to describe this woman? I am a student with a 3.9 GPA, and I have NEVER dropped a class except for her's. Think about that
I agree..no, matter how nice ppls say she is, that doesnt make her a better prof...SHE CANT TEACH!!!
she may not be the easiest professor on campus, but shes a fair grader. her tests are the very similar to the problems on the exam review sheets. people only find her hard because they choose to slack off, but if u do the h.w and skim through the book every now and then, you get a decent grade. I got an A but it wasn't easy.
she grades fairly but it is a bit difficult to understand because of her accent. the class was ok, but you need to work a lot on your own to get a good grade.
This professor is an Angel, please don't listern to those who say she is hard. She is sweet and she is like a mother, very helpful and she makes you work the way you should. In the end,you will learn a great deal in this class.Taking her helped me pass all my other math classes that i couldnt take with her.She is the best math professor in the world.
She was demeaning to students in my class when she got impatient and is very hard to understand.
She sucks cant understand anything she says, yells at you if you have your phone out during class. yells at anyone for talking even if you are helping another student with a math problem. She just cant teach at all.
this professor was so helpful. calc 2 is super hard but she makes it not so scary. she lets you have an index card on exams and is available all the time for extra help. definitely take her- i got an A and i suck at math
Best professor I have ever had. She will help you when you need help as long as you ask her. She brings you down only to help you back up to build your confidence. Always respectful to the class. i recommend everyone in Rutgers to at least take her class once. She is very reasonable when it comes to your grade and are willing too work with studen
there is a little of a language barrier, but it is bearable. i got an A. very easy if you study a lil. whats on the review is on the tests...i just studied the review sheet for final for like 3 hours and i was done wth the 2 hr final in 30 min...and i got a 100...mo easy son
she's a horrible teacher. its not that she doesn't try but she can't teach if her life depended on it. you cant even understand her properly. she's very boring and makes class boring.plese dont take her class unless you want to move fast paced, dont mind motivating your self and you don't mind her accent.
Very very helpful. She is the best prof rutgers has ever had.She loves her students and she loves what she does.Very good at teaching and always ready to help when you need it.She is fair with her grading and she hates to fail students.I love this prof and she is like a mother to her students. The best anyone can ask for.Take her and u wont regret i
Extremely helpful professor. Once taught a class on a nonscheduled day just because the majority of the class was having a hard time with a particular subject. Those who complain is because the subject is hard, not the professor.
She is a great professor.. math is not my greatest subject but because she goes into great detail and offers her help she makes very comprehensible. I loved her class and would take her again. If you didnt like her it's because you dont want to do the work but if you do the work, pay attention in class and go to her for extra help you will do great.
Professor Parekh starts off stern but warms up and nutures her students like a mother hen. She wants you to do well! She will answer any question, do any problem--before class, in class, after class. Always available at office hours! Will help you focus on what to study. You have to do the hard work. If you care, she cares!
attendance isnt mandatory, but if you show up, she will like you, especially if u TRY to participate in class , tries really hard to explain everything and really wants you to learn the subject not just take it because you have to. your grade is almost basically on how well you do on the final.
Took her for precalc in the winter. she is a amzing professor explains everything in detail. if you like math you will like the way she teaches. you will understand.
Prof. Parekh cares about her students and wants them to succeed. If you are good with math then you can take this class with anybody really. But if you are struggling with math, take it her because she gives a lot of EC and she will explain everything till you get it. I would not have passed this class if anybody else taught it. She is the best!
I had her for pre cal during the winter. The class is very hard because she likes to teach math in an old fashion way with no shortcuts or tricks. Possibly ,it was hard because of the time constraint of a winter class. She is nice herself and does offer tutoring an hour before class, but you will need to go to the tutoring center as well.
Great professor. Wants you to learn the subject thoroughly. Do yourself a favor and don't fool around. You'll get the grade you want if you work hard. Winter Precalc.
This professor wants you to learn. She will give you tough love and beat you mentality until you realize that you need to study!! She goes at the class pace. Very thorough, goes thru each stepbystep. Thick accent tho. Requires MathLab text & login.
No matter what anybody says: she can't teach!!! Accept it as a fact. I'm a teacher, I know how it's supposed to be. If you really wanna learn, don't take her class. She is terrible!!!
She is a very good professor. I had a C+ in call one and when I took her for calc 2 I got an A. She explains the material in the most understandable way.if you do well on the exams and show that you are trying, you will definitely pass.
PAREKH ROCKS! IF YOU WANT TO LEARN COME SEE MRS. PAREKH!
SHE IS THE BEST!! SHES HARD SOMETIMES BUT YOU LEARN AND SHE WILL MAKE SURE YOU LEARN!!IF YOU PUT IN THE TIME YOU WILL GET THE GRADE YOU WANT!TAKE HER
Took her for calc 3 and loved how she taught it. Went to office hours and she always helped me as long as i put forth the effort. Exams are straight from her review problems but dont memorize , understand how to to do them!
I do not understand why people are so rude and disrespectful when they themselves are to blame for their grades. Calculus is not for everybody nd she does not need to spoon feed you everything. As for Prfsr Parekh she is a very nice person and is very willing and helpful to teach you if you are willing to put the effort in. So definitely take her.
willing to help out the students, and explains materials very well. but I would say she is extremely tough grader. Her exam is straightforward, but she easily takes off the points. On my 2nd midterm, she only gave us 5questions, and each question worth 20points, so basically if you get one wrong, the max points you would get is 80.
This course can be difficult if you do not chose to work hard. However, she is an excellent professor once you commit to the class. For her exams, practice the review problems and the homework problems, but do not memorize!! She helps with all kinds of difficulties and is very encouraging. I did well and would recommend everyone else to take her.
Great professor. The tests are very similar to the review problems. 7 quizzes in total. (usually varies). 3 exams total. mymathlab required.
Doesn't follow the syllabus, gives no quizzes, and doesn't update grades on BB. Each test is worth 25% of our final grade, & the 1st test had ONLY 9 QUESTIONS. The 2nd test was on ALL 11 chapters (like a final.) She gives vry little partial credit. The HW is on webassign, which sucks. And she doesn't reply to emails until it's too late. goodluck.
Explains material well, however her exams contain some questions that were not done in class. Her exams are tough and she takes off points very easily. Gives very very little partial credit.
Very straight forward in the summer. 3 exams including final and are similar to the review problems assigned. Teaching is decent because of accent. Few quizzes but she drops lowest. Curve at the end. Need the book. No math lab (for SUMMER only).
Fantastic professor. She very fair if you follow her guidelines. She wants you to succeed and does everything in her power to allow for that. If i had to take more math classes i would take every single one with her. Her tests are review questions just make sure you actually understand the material. I got an A after getting a B- in precalc.
Summer class went fast but do-able. 3 exams and 10 quizzes but she drops 1. Exams come from the review problems she assigns, but not verbatim. She makes the class simple and doesn't confuse you with the concepts. Curves at the end. Come to class because the quizzes are based on homework and in class examples.
Prof. Parekh is a great person and she will always be there for you. We had three midterms, a final, and homework (10% of grade). All her tests have nearly exactly what she puts on the review questions. If you take the review seriously, the exams will be a breeze, because she usually chooses the easier varieties of the questions.
She is super nice and very helpful if you try hard and come to her office hours. I failed my first exam but after really trying hard i ended up with an A
Was very difficult to understand, I would read through the book, do online examples, and review questions but ended up failing. Make sure you go to class or else you will not understand!! She does try her best in helping but I still wasn't able to understand. It is Calc 2 so if you put in the work you'll see the grade in the end...
Great professor, really cares about whether students do well. Very helpful and responsive to questions also
Incredible professor, and an even better human being. I passed her Basic Calculus class over the summer after having withdrawn from Calc twice before. She is so encouraging, and is always willing to help students. What a lovely person. Don't hesitate to take her class.
Basic Calc - GREAT professor. Prof is patient and kind. She takes her time to explain everything from the beginning, step by step. I had taken Basic Calc once before but had to withdraw because I could not keep up. MUST attend class and pay attention; material is very hard. Summer Class 2 Tests 1 Cum. Final MyMathLab homeworks (2-4 per week)
After having Prof. Parekh for precalculus, I just had her for Calculus II and she's still the same old caring and just instructor she was before. She's a generous grader and seriously one of the most empathic math professors I've ever had. Whether you take her class in the summer/winter or in a semester, I'd say go for it!
Took Basic Calc over the summer and it was not an easy class. Lots of homework was given in this class so it was time consuming. The material can be hard to grasp and learn at times but with Professor Parekh she made the concepts easier for us to learn. She is a great professor and if you try you will pass but be prepared to put in the effort.
She sucks! Im having her now and she is one of the worse(sorry, thats the way it is).
Had Prof. Parekh for Calc 2 over the summer, she's awesome. Subject is hard so be prepared to put in the effort and study time. She's always willing to help students with hw during office hours. Super nice and very smart. If you do all the practice problems and review problems you should ace the class.
Stay away guys trust me. I regret taking her
EXAMS are tough and she will challenge you. Had her for diff eq, Calc 2 and 3. You have to attend every class and go to her office hours if you don't understand the review problems she gives before the exam. Got an B+ or A in every class and it was with this method. She loves if you participate in class too and she is very helpful outside class.
Her teaching style is more conceptual, and after she teaches the concept she'll do problems from the book to help understand. She is very knowledgeable and works to show you visual examples. She assigns around 10-12 homework problems per section due within 1-3 days of each other. Her exams are like her review. Considering taking her for DifEq
GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS AND GET HER TO KNOW YOU PERSONALLY! SHE CURVES AT THE END.
She is probably one of the best math professors I've had at Rutgers thus far. She knows her stuff and it comes through in the way she teaches. She's awesome!
Professor Parekh is truly a caring professor. She has a gift for teaching where she connects all levels of math to what she is teaching. If you work hard in whatever class you take with her, you will earn a good conceptual knowledge of the subject. She preps well for tests--just do all the review problems and you'll get a high B or an A.
Worst professor ever!!
This Professor really cares about her students. Took her for Calc II, read the book and practice. Then you are guaranteed to get anything higher than a B+. Her exams are straight forward, but there are way too many quizzes. So make sure you stay on top of the chapters. Try to take her during the summer, because she gives take home quizzes instead.
Strict and traditional views on teaching. Doesn't like if you're on your phone or talking or being disrespectful. Good lecturer. Does practice problems and tries to make the most amount of people understand. Willing to help. She's the only reason I passed Calc 3 after having failed once. I spoke to her about my situation and she cared.
Prof. Parekh is simply the sweetest professor in Rutgers. She is caring and if you pay attention during lectures and respect her and you will be just fine.
Prof is nice and very knowledgeable. She requires you to have a good background in calc 1. Two midterms, not that hard. Weekly quizzes and hw. Does not allow any kind of calculators. Doesn't fully explain the topics, had to rely on hw to understand the material. Overall, not bad but I would choose another prof if available.
Calculus II, by itself, is challenging, but personally, I did well in this class compared to Calc 1. The instructor really simplifies the concepts, so that majority of the class comprehends it. As long as you attend classes and stay on top of the homework, this class is fairly easy.
She's SO nice but her quizzes/exams are hard. If you really struggle in Calc, taking her for Calc 3 is a really bad idea. She's helpful during office hours but in the end, you're on your own, and if you're usually in the D/F range on her quizzes/exams... you won't pass. + No brownie points for going to her office hours a lot, she does not curve!
This professor is caring and very knowledgeable. She makes you work for your grade but if you need extra help she is always available. She is fair in her grading but you need to put in the work as well. A lot of students hate the subject and think that she makes it more difficult. The material is not difficult at all just time consuming.
Professor Parekh is literally one of the best calc professors out there and is always open with questions or math problems that students struggle with. Yes, her teaching skills tends to be confusing, but if you attend her office hours and practice the MathLab on Pearson everyday, you are more than likely to pass an A.
She is amazing caring and If you put the effort then you will definitely get a good grade. I would always take her again and she made calc more clear to me.
She is one of the best math professors Ive ever had. Her teaching method is very thorough. The grade makeup: 2 midterms, 1 final, homework and quizzes. She is willing to work with you if she sees that you are legitimately trying. She encourages you to attempt all problems for the best understanding possible. She wants you to succeed in the course.
- Toughest /Worst CALC III Professor at Rutgers - Made us stay 20 minutes after class ended just to squeeze in another chapter of material to quiz you on the next class. - Rude/Reads your grade out to the class when you under perform. - Insists that you drop the course rather than trying to help out the students. - Do not take UNLESS you NEED too.
SHE IS AMAZING. If you are more of a visual learner, she will help with that for sure. Whoever has graded her horribly is the person who does not want to put in the work. She makes the class interesting and her jokes throughout the class are hilarious. She is a wonderful woman. Although she does come out a bit harsh, she only wants the best for you
Shes sort of nice. But I wouldnt take her. Shell put you on the spot for not knowing anything. Office hours dont do anything either. I felt like an outcast in her class even though I studied many hours. There are better professors wholl understand you and will help you. Tough grader, will take off points for dumb things. No curves. Good luck.
Professor Parekh is a good professor. Although, take note that you will not get brownie points with her. You will have to earn every point you get, and she does not curve, even for the upper-classes. She does a great job breaking down concepts to help class understand. Sometimes I felt overwhelmed by the weekly quizzes she gives.
With the hassle of online she was not helpful in the least. Wouldn't really help students during class time and office hours were okay at best. Tough grader and a super strict professor, If another professor is available take them. Don't believe the really good reviews
She is a pretty good professor in my opinion. The quizzes can be a little off sometimes but as long as you study the mylab and textbook problems, you should be fine.
I feel like for me she was a semi-ok class. I really didn't go to class, but I made sure to do all my homework (which was a lot at times) and quizzes early to hand them in. For my course, we didn't have any exams, but our quizzes were double checked by her and graded by our worksheet proof by her (not just by mymathlab)
