She is very knowledgable about Ant and Phy however she did not know how to teach it. She goes thru all the slides so quickly that we either have time to just look or just write down what it was. After first exam, the class had a 66% avg and the only ppl who had gotten an A or even a B had taken this class before. Her study guides do help at all.
It seems like she is teaching herself. I had 2 drop her class w/ an W becuz there was no way i could have raised my grade to B. I had C- throughout the whole semester. I love quizzes though. But her exams are hard as hell. There is no way that i could study 4 her exams. You cant do much 2 improve your grade. I wish she offered some extra credit.
I did not like her teaching style at ALL. She's rude and I felt intimidated asking her for help because she gave you a look that pretty much said you were and idiot. She speeks REALLY fast and is hard to keep up with. Take someone else. I had to drop the class.
Tests and quizzes are very hard. No extra credits. Not a very good teacher.
She knows her material, but she is bad at teaching it. I busted my butt the whole semester, but wound up with a low B. The only ones who got A's were the ones who already had degrees or had taken this class (or its equivalent) before. If you can really buckle down to studying on your own, then you will probably pass. If not, then...
very hard teacher. To get a good grade means study day and night. Her exams are extremly hard. She teaches so fast you cant catch up. Take a different prof. if you can
She really knows her material, but sometimes she is not that good at teaching it. If you want to get a guaranteed A, you'll want to join a study group with a lot of A students and STUDY STUDY STUDY!. She is very nice and will go over your grades with you, as well as give suggestions as to how to get better in the class. I highly recommend her.
Professor Arya is hard, but fair. She expects you to do your part in learning the material, however she is always available if you need help. Her lectures are organized and her exams cover material only from her lectures.
This is def a hard class but she makes it VERY clear what is going to be on the exams. She goes over the diagrams and major topics over and over and the ones she spends the most time on are the ones that will be worth big points on the test. Good teacher but its on YOU to study the material. All tests based on lecture notes. pretty straight forward
Arya is a very knowledgeable professor. She tries to explain the material in a way that can actually make you understand if you are not lazy. She gives you the lecture packets which are easy to read. Exams are fair, questions are always about relevant material, she doesn't trick you. If you put in the effort, you will learn a lot.
Two thumbs up!
This class is not easy, it takes studying, note taking, 100% attendance, effort, and then whatever else you can come up that aids you for the quizzes and tests. Palwasha provides sufficent and clear information, it's up to the student in the grade he or she wants to get
For this class it takes studying, note taking, 100% attendance, effort, and then whatever else you can come up that aids you for the quizzes and tests. Palwasha provides sufficent and clear information, it's up to the student in the grade he or she wants to get
professor arya is a great teacher! she always provides a very organized outline of notes and makes sure every student has one. she is always clear about what will be on the test. arya's tests are very do-able if you study! this class is hard and to pass with an A or a B requires at least 15 hours of studying a week outside class. its up to you...
She is a great professor. Gives you lecture handouts to fill in and exams are mainly off of those. In no way is A&P an easy class. You need to put in the work to get the grade. The negative comments here are not true. She is very approachable and a great professor. People are probably just mad because they got a bad grade due to their laziness.
Professor Arya is knowledgeable but does not know how to transfer the information to her students. Her tests are from the lecture handouts she gives. So don't bother with the book, if you memorize the lecture handouts then you will get an A. You don't have to learn it, just memorize! She should learn how to teach from Professor David Lagala.
She's very helpful, She'll arrange extra lab study periods in the room across the hall, she'll show up to the Beacon tutoring (if you take advantage of that extra time to study models, lab material/slides etc)She gives out Lecture Handouts, I don't know any A&P teacher that does as much other than Troy. If you don't study/show up, blame yourself.
This teacher is fantastic. Take good notes, and learn them. Use flash cards on everything, know the material and you will get an A. She tells you exactly what your going to get tested on. If you cant get an A in this class you don't belong in healthcare. It only gets harder folks.
Palwasha is amazing. I had her for both 430 & 431. This class is not easy, by any means, but she is very helpful... if you make the effort. Be sure to attend every open lab and show your effort. Do not take this class with any prof if you are looking for an easy A. Not going to happen. Good luck!
Palwasha is a great teacher. Her lecture notes are extremely easy to follow and are great to use when studying for the exams. I found that all exam questions were from her lecture notes. Her exams were easy, even the essay questions. Just stay on top of the material and never slack off...This class was my life for 5 months!!
She's ridiculous, as is most of the Biology department at Sac City. Actually taunted me one day because she thought I had dropped. Class started with a huge waiting list and ended with 8 students at the final. Disorganized at best, they act like you have no life outside of the class. DO NOT take another class with this one, or a job, or kids, ect.
Very good professor hard and test are not easy! Memorize the study guide and your notes and you will be fine! She is very helpfull and gets straight to the point!I will definetly be taking her for BIO431!
I actually loved this class and the professor. However, I had to drop because I could not keep up with her and I had other demands that kept me from doing well. Don't try to juggle this class with another science course or with any life-changing events. She does not offer homework assignments, so grades are dependent solely on quizzes and exams.
Took her for 430 and didn't realize how much of a good professor she was until the end of the semester. She doesn't sugarcoat. She's very direct and very intelligent. High expectations. I learned a lot in her class! Her lectures are superior and the way she does lab IDs with the whole class is very effective. DEEPLY REGRET not taking her for 431.
teaching style was bad. uses powerpoint and after she is done explaining she just goes to the next slide even if your not done copying down some important. explain material to fast. she knows her material, but you better be ready for a race.
This is a tough class, you need to work hard. Don't take other science classes with this one. She is very helpful but expects you not to slack in class or out.
Professor Arya is not a crazy, tough teacher; the class just covers a lot of material. Key to passing the class: repetition. Read the book before class, learn the lesson in class, rewrite notes after class and repeat! She gives examples of what will be on the exams and her reviews are key to doing well on them. Use your lab time wisely! Goodluck!!
This professor truly cares about the success of her students. She writes GOOD letters of recommendations for her students (for various reasons), and is always there to answer any questions and help. Science is always advancing, thus, changing; she's realistic when it comes to topics that can be easily confused and works with you (calls BS too).
She tells you what you need to study and what you dont. Her study guides are exactly what will be on the tests so make sure you do them! She's not the most approachable professor, but she does want you to succeed and will help you if you are willing to put in the effort for the course.
Professor Arya is an exceptional teacher. I ended up needing to drop the course due to life circumstances but I would take her again if I could. She is straight forward, no-nonsense regarding the material covered in lecture/lab, easy to determine her expectations. She was super helpful when I was determining if I should drop or push forward.
Great professor! She is very clear in what she expects. You must be willing to do everything to pass the class. Use all of your resources, study, study, study! lectures are important and what all quizzes and test are based on.
Arya is an exceptional teacher. She gives students all the tools they will need to be successful. However, A&P requires serious dedication out of your life if you want to get a good grade. Her syllabus says you should study 15-20 hours/week, which is accurate. Labs can be challenging, but if you memorize lecture worksheets, you will pass.
Had her for Bio430 & 431. Lots of students find her intimidating for some reason, don't. She will never turn down a question from students, I could go to her anytime and ask a lecture Q and she would guide me through it. The class is hard, but there's no surprises. EVERYTHING on lecture exams are from her packets. Many of my classmates liked her.
Had her for bio 430 and she's an excellent professor. She gives you all the material you need. Just take good notes and use the lecture packets to study for the lecture exam and use all the pdfs she uploads to study for the lab exam. she offers open lab/ tutoring so go to it if you need it. She's always there to help!
Great teacher and interesting class. The class is information dense, however i found her class to be doable and got an A. She provides an outline for notes so you can fill out for class. Test is everything from those notes. A few multiple choice, fill in the blank and short answers. As long as you know the notes, you can't go wrong with the class.
Helpful note packets, no book needed, What ever is on the packet is good enough to pass the Tests, Everything you Need is provided on d2l to pass, Studying mandatory to pass with any professor, Great
I took Professor Arya for BIO 430 and 431. She is an excellent professor. She lays out the grading criteria clearly and will answer any questions you have. She made time for me in her office hours, and replied to numerous after hour questions. The class is hard, but if you put the time in you can get an A. Professor Arya is great.
Prof Arya's lecture handouts make it easy to keep up with her in lectures, but you will need to stay alert during lab because she goes really fast there. She is a fair grader and happy to answer questions in class or in office hours. I had her for 430 as well. I felt she went much faster in 431 than she did in 430.
Professor Arya provides you everything you need to succeed in the class. She'll give you lecture handouts and will even provide you with a lot of study material on D2L so the textbook won't be needed. Her exams and quizzes come directly from the lab and the handouts so make sure to study ASAP. She definitely makes you work for your grade.
I took bio 430&431 with her. She wants her students to pass! Work for your grade and stay on top of the studying. She offers extra credit on each exam and also will drop your lowest lec grade if you do better on the final exam. Don't lose hope! I was failing beginning of semester of 431 and was able to get my grade up, significantly! Great prof!<3
I took her for Biol 430 and 431. She provides lecture packets and every exam has extra credit questions. She is happy to answer questions. Her lectures are clear, but in 431 we had to stay after the end of class or go to open lab if we wanted to look at the models or charts. There wasn't much time in class.
I feel so fortunate I took Professor Arya for BIOL430 and BIOL431!! Her provided lecture notes clearly organizes the material for you straight from the book, lectures are easy to follow. Complete her study questions and you can't go wrong on her exams. Lot of course material, but you'll know what to expect and she'll always be available for help.
Professor Arya is amazing. She cares and wants her students to succeed. Bio 430 was a challenge, but totally doable if you follow her advice and put in the work. I worked my ass off. You will not complete the class with everyone from day 1... People WILL drop. This is a filter class for medical programs, take it seriously. That said, on to 431 (:
Arya was the worst professor I've ever taken. She was flat out mean, demeaning and unapproachable. DO NOT TAKE HER!! I dropped midway cuz I was failing miserably. Instead of teaching she makes you do it all on your own and tries to embarrass you when you don't know the answer or are lost.
Good with her lectures. She provides lecture handouts that are fill in the blank + extra material thats beneficial for you to succeed. Study and understand her lectures and youll do well in the class. Its not easy, and shes a bit intimidating and not approachable, lectures fast, very nit picky on the exams. Book not really used. Spelling counts
Do not take this professor unless this is your only class. The tests are extremely hard and she expects you to memorize everything in the entire book. She talks fast during lectures and labs so make sure to take lots of notes.
This class requires time and effort. She will provide you with lecture notes and Lab PDFs. STUDY them! I liked her class and her as a person. You have to be on top of your studies. This class is tough and has so much information to be learned in a short amount of time. She will push you for success! Not her fault if you are not doing your part!
I loved Professor Arya! She was the most understanding professor I've ever had and always took time to help me out. People would say she's intimidating, but she's not! Definitely lecture heavy, but she gives a pre-made notes packet to fill during class. Be ready to study 24/7, but I loved what I learned!
If you stay on top of your studies then you'll do just fine. Take good notes. Follow the professor's note packets and study them, know them, and memorize them. Fill in the blanks for exams are directly from lecture notes. Always rewatch the lect. recordings to understand lectures and labs. Be prepare to study 24 hours. extra credit every quiz/exam
I dont recommande you to take her class at all. she is very fast, and not organized, lots of things to memorize. 6 tests, 100 question each.
This professor is not really knowledgeable. She didn't remember her own lecture material on the of the final review when we asked question about a topic. She is not nice, and makes you feel dumb in-front of the class when even if you get the answers right. I personally do not recommend this professor.
Took biol 430&431 w/prof. NO science class is easy! Know how to study? This class is for you. Hard class plenty of HW and classwork. B prepare to study&review chap prior to class. Come to class w/questions. Find a study partner. Aim for getting extra credits on quizzes/exams. Constant rewriting your notes. If you like the challenge go 4 it!!!
The class is okay you must work for your grade by making sure you really study the chapters for the exams which are all timed no open notes and being recorded there are a few assignments and a few quizzes quizzes you can retake however many times until you get a perfect score there is no extra credit only met her once on zoom it was horrible
She had 5 unit lectures and lab exams, including a cumulative final exam that replaces the lowest lecture (total of 11 exams). Lab exams were 75 points (fill in the blanks only) and 100 point lectures (fill in the blanks, multiple-choice, and short answers). She's very distant and unapproachable. She had very few assignments, just study A LOT.
Although not approachable or empathetic at all, she makes up for it by giving extra credit and curving each exam. Total of 5 lecture/lab exams (given on the same day) and 1 cumulative final. The final replaces your lowest lecture exam and few HW. Systems covered are integumentary, skeletal, muscle, and nervous. HARD class, but manageable with time!
When it came to labs, Professor Arya was helpful in clarification. However when it came to lectures she was all over the place and and not upfront of what she was teaching. She is great a professor in spite of her lectures being recorded, but expect to teach yourself if that is the case. FYI canvas grades are mostly quizzes and exams... goodluck
She only knows how to talk about anatomy by the book, not teach it. If you do not ask or know she wont tell you since she already expects you to memorize everything from the entire book (was not used).Very short lectures on each topic and very specific grader on exams and Q’s, that takes up the grade.Talks fast during lab.Did not curve on exams.
A lot agrees that Prof A = tough prof. Now looking back, bc of her hard classes, I developed my study style. Since taking her for biol 430&431, I have been passing all my class w/A++ (above 100%)! If I ever get the chance to come back & help tutor her class I would! U just have to put a lot of time into ur study & U can make it!
Definitely need to study to pass this class and exams, but if you carefully take notes & study the lab part you will most likely pass! Everything that is tested is what we learn!
Just like last semester, Professor Arya's lack of empathy or personality continues to amaze me. Her monotone voice and unimpressionable demeanor only lengthens her already boring lectures. If taking her, be prepared to dedicate your semester (25 hours a week) to this course alone. The only benefits to taking her are EC and a curve on each exam.
Rating Prof. A again for PRE-NURSING students. Lectures R HARD, but TRUST ME.. she prepares U well! Passed my TEAS w/a 97% & got accepted N2 Sac State Nursing prgm! B challenge & take her, bc nursing school is challenging! Make sure U study 24hr/day & U'll pass! I took both her course 430+431 & passed w/all A's. If I can do it, trust me U can too!
Very good professor for those students who want succeed in future careers. Very knowledgeable professor, especially huge experiences in anatomy and histology. Took her BIOL430 and BIOL431, very nice experiences. I was able to pick up a lot of old knowledge tens of years ago and get a lot of new knowledge from her classes.
This was by far the worst professor I have ever taken! She has no regard for what you have going on outside of class, telling us to "sleep less, pick up less shifts at work, and drop other classes" to make time for BIO. Over 30 hours are required to be successful in this course. Close to half of my class dropped.. choose another professor!!!!!
Great professor! Organized, caring, approachable, and prepares you very well for premed. Lectures are prerecorded. You should watch them before each lab and take notes on the lecture notes handout. The course itself is very hard and requires lots of studying. Lots of quizzes, but they help with learning. plus 5 exams, and a final (lecture only)
Just like last semester, Professor Arya's lack of empathy or personality continues to amaze me. Her monotone voice and unimpressionable demeanor only lengthens her already boring lectures. If taking her, be prepared to dedicate your semester (25 hours a week) to this course alone. Do not recommend!
The professor outlines the material clearly. It is a lot of material and it is fast paced but i know what is expected. The book has twice the material and we dont cover all of it thankfully. There is a lot of studying and memorization. She always answers any questions i have thoroughly and respectfully. Taking her class again next semester.
Professor Arya wants to help her students to succeed! If you put in the hard-word and determination you can pass the course. I recommend staying after class to study the models, she'll be there and happy to answer any questions. She has taught many helpful study methods that makes me a confident nursing student today!
Study constantly! This class is important, so give it your best effort! Covers everything she wants you to know in recorded lectures and in-person labs, be sure to study and know them forwards and backwards for the tests (lab and lecture on the same day). She is helpful if you are making an effort. Definitely taking for A&P 2!
With Palwasha, you can expect 1-2 quizzes/week and 5 lecture/lab exams. She doesn't try and trick you on exams and I found her very helpful when I talked to her 1on1. Though difficult, this is to be expected, and if you memorize her lecture notes and study week by week instead of cramming, you will do fine in this class.
This professor is not really knowledgeable. She makes you feel dumb in-front of the class when even if you get the answers right. I personally do not recommend this professor. Very dry personality. No teaching skills.
I agree that this professor is not really knowledgeable and has dry personality. No teaching skills. I do not recommend this professor.
I took Prof Arya for BIO 430 and 431. This is A&P which means all units are information dense throughout the semester. Prof Arya is organized, knowledgeable and very helpful. The quizzes and exams are only from the material she provides. She actively keeps the class at the same pace with lecture and lab material. I highly recommend Prof Arya.
I took Prof Arya for 430 & 431 and had great experiences in both classes. She takes the time to make sure students understand the material and will review topic as many times as you need. The course itself is difficult because its A&P. Studying is VERY important for this class. You cannot do well if you are not studying. Highly recommend Prof Arya!
She is very difficult to understand. Dry learning experience. Close to half of my class dropped.. choose another professor!!!!! This was by far the worst professor I have ever taken! She has no regard for what you have going on outside of class, telling us to "sleep less, pick up less shifts at work, and drop other classes" to make time for BIO.
Arya can be a good professor. However, she goes way too fast during lec. Crams a ton of info into handouts (helpful, but overwhelming). Has too high expectations, a "by the book" person. There's a total of 10 exams, 5 lec & 5 lab, u take both the same day. Quiz every week. Offers little extra credit. Little hard to reach outside of class. Goodluck
She will make you cry first weeks of the semester, so be aware. She wants you to know the material that she presented the same day in class. Your choice.
I took Professor Arya for both BIOL 430 and BIOL 431 and 100% recommend her! She encourages you to go to open lab, gives extra credit on all her quizzes and tests, and truly shows her desire for you to succeed. She provides skeleton notes, and the exams reflect those notes. A and P is a hard subject, but she provides all necessary means to succeed!
She is very difficult to understand. Dry learning experience. Very stressful learning experience.
Professor Arya is nice, and cares about her students. This is not an easy class, LOTS of studying, but she gives you all the materials you need to receive an A in this class. If you can, I suggest you go to open lab on Fridays, and attend her office hours. I wouldn't recommend you take it with a next science class.
She will make you cry. Her teaching is dry. I didn't learn much. A lots of exams and memorization. DO NOT TAKE HER.
I really enjoyed this class and her style of teaching. You must know the material like the back of your hand. But that's a good thing right? You're likely taking this class to be in the medical field- you should know the basics well. The good news is she gives you all the resources you need to be successful in the class.
She is so fast and she admits that too. Expect to read more and more hard to get B you have to work hard and tough grader most of the class last semester they ended up dropping.
You literally spend all your free time during the week and weekend trying to study for this class and its never enough.Extremely tough grader, Lab Test&Lecture Test for every exam, theres a 20 point quiz every class session. Lot of information that really has nothing to do with your respective programs youre going into. Honestly would not recommend
I don't really recommend her. Even her rate goes from up to down she dont really care about students sucess.
Overall clear and structured course. Not homework heavy, expects you to do review o/side of class. Very exam & quiz heavy course. Total of 6 exams, most only 2 weeks apart. After the 2nd unit we had quizzes every lecture. Very very fast paced course, don't recommend if you're taking another science class at the same time. Studying 24/7.
This class is very difficult, regardless of the professor. She gives you all the information you need & everything is on exams & quizzes. Yes, it is a lot of information but in order to succeed, you MUST STUDY everything she gives you (barely any actual homework). GO TO LAB & ask questions. She's there to help you if you actually look for her help.
The info is in packets she makes & is broken down for you. Majority of your grade is determined by your quiz & test scores. BUT lots of extra credit opportunities (Friday lab, bonus on quiz, bonus on exams). 2 exams per test day (one for lecture, one for the lab). Also she replaces lowest quiz/test scores at the end of the semester.
Extremely heavy class as expected but she added more stress, It was originally a quiz every few class sessions but about halfway through she was giving us a 20 q quiz each day. Extremely difficult to follow along as she goes very fast, and doesn't take her time making sure we understand things. Really sweet person but very difficult teacher
class is hard and that is to be expected considering it's an a&p class. Although there are a lot of quizzes and tests, as long as you study the packets youll be fine. It really isnt that bad if you put in the work. I hate it when people complain abt her when they dont even try. If you have any questions, just ask. Shes super kind and drops 1 quiz
Ironic that people complain about her class yet still want to go into nursing. If you want a good BIOL teacher, I suggest Arya! She's patient and she loves teaching. There's so much hate on teachers bc they don't realize how hard this class is. The materials provided are super helpful and lectures are long but informative. Come to office hours!
No, I don't really recommend her. Even her rate goes from up to down she dont really care about students sucess.
Just make sure you're studying all the material, and you will succeed. She´s an awesome professor and I'm planning to take her for 431. Her office hours are so so helpful and the amount of ec she gives should help you get the grade you want. Take her!
Such an awesome professor! By far one of my favorite science professors at sac city. I would really recommend her!! Her lectures are really informative and all material is on canvas
Her class is rigorous, but she only wants all her students to succeed. If you put in work and commit, you will have no problem with passing. I took Proff. Arya for 431 and wish I had her for 430! Go to her office hours:)
I'm taking Arya rn and she's awesome. Her quizzes are hard but the workload is manageable. The students complaining about her making you cry is funny. Just don't procrastinate and you'll be fine. Study and review the packets and you'll do good on the quizzes. It's really all about memorization. I would recommend Arya! She's super cool
A&P is tough, and that's the first thing students should know. Break up your studying and use the materials Professor Arya provides. There's extra credit on quizzes, and her labs are great! I'd recommend her, but be ready to work—your grade ultimately really reflects the effort you put in.
I have taken Professor Arya for both Biol430 and currently 431, I have great experience in her classes. she provides everything you need to succeed. A&P is tough class but if you stay on top of material and use the resources she gives, getting an A is definitely possible
LOVED Professor Arya! TAKE!! you won't regret it
I love Arya's class. I was hesitant if I would get in since I was on the waitlist but I ended up getting off and I loved her for A&P. Her lectures are informative, and although the quizzes and exams/hard, Proff Arya makes sure to answer any questions if you have any. If you're on the waitlist, don't worry, get on it and hopefully it'll work for you
Do NOT take her! Go with another professor. Most of the online comments are misleading. Her quizzes don't match the lectures, and there are no opportunities to make up missed work. She gives two 40–50 question exams on the same day, which is excessive. Her focus is on covering material quickly, not ensuring that students actually learn it.
I like that she rarely goes off topic and her lecture handouts are handy. That being said, I had no clue what I got myself into. Her 16 week course feels like an 8 week course with the amount of material she covers at a fast pace, making it difficult to retain information. If you have lots of free time and good memory, this is the class for you.
Exams and quizzes cover is went over in lecture and lab. There is lab and lecture exam every unit but she also gives an extra credit point for every office hour you stay for and open lab you come in for. Gives a few extra credit points on quizzes and exams as well, and always curves grades on the exams. Be prepared to spend lots of time studying.
I misled by the previous ratings. I attended open lectures, Youtube videos, and tutoring I gave it my all but unfortunately it was still not enough to even get a decent grade, and I received an A in chemistry so I know how well of an academic person I am, but this just shattered my confidence with all that work and not gettint the results I want.
I honestly liked this professor. She is very organized. This class is lecture heavy. Not a lot of homework but it is a lot of studying and reading.
